What a great place. Super friendly owners with great food. We had six tapas dishes from a very varied menu. I simply couldn't ask for anything else. You really feel like a valued customer.

A beloved Streatham group for extremely many years due to the fact the proprietors are the nicest, maximum hospitable and inviting people you can ever meet. The meals isn't always difficult but it's miles authentic and the wines are thoroughly selected. If you don't have an fun nighttime right here, it is your fault!

Had a bottle of wine and tapas on a Friday night. Very welcoming staff and the wine was great. We had 8 plates of tapas to share and a few were very below standard. The olives and calamari were really not good but we enjoyed the Spanish omelette and chorizo. We were also given free fruit and shots at the end which was nice.

Good food and great service. If you want to be looked after whilst enjoying not-average tapas. Portions are bigger than any others I've come across in all the Spanish restaurants I've been to. Each tapas has a unique, delicious taste and they are fairly-priced. Waiters will take care of you making sure you enjoy the dinner in an old, European style. You forget to be in London where you're just a paying customer. They do care here and want you to come back. Trust me, they succeeded. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. 4 people, 5 tapas, 1 starter, 3 glasses of wine (and liquors kindly on the house): £80. And we left satisfied, looked after and with a big smile. And the ratatouille... oh my!

A lovely quaint and delightful family run restaurant. It a hidden gem. They staff are very attentive. There's a good selection on the menu and it's cooked to a very high standard. The deco is a bit dull but the standard of the service has never changed. Priced reasonably worth a visit if you in the area even pop in for a cocktail 🍸

I've had the tapas here a couple of times now and the dishes served cover most of the "classic" tapas options and are very fresh. Really good tapas requires good fresh produce and Bar 61 clearly make the effort to cook fresh and source produce from a good market. The pulpo here is nice, patas bravas are nice and fresh, tortilla is nice as are the sardines. Also a good range of complementary beers and friendly service. The interior needs an update but overall it's really good food.

Don't be put off by the slightly average exterior - this place is a hidden jam. The most random and welcoming decor, charming and charismatic staff who seem to know their customers by name and a totally delicious selection of tapas. I've been several times and always leave happy.

Booked a table for 14 for a combined birthday dinner. The staff were extremely friendly and accommodating. We had a huge variety of tapas which were very tasty and more than enough to satisfy us - all washed down with a few jugs of sangria. Both birthday boys were made to feel special by the staff including an unexpected birthday fruit platter with candles and sparklers. Overall, a lovely evening at a very reasonable price. This was our first time coming to Bar 61 and we will definitely be coming back. We decided on a selection of tapas dishes which were all delicious, compliments to the chef! Bar 61 is a small neighborhood restaurant serving wonderful Spanish tapas and fine Mediterranean cuisine located in an eclectic area of town right on a major bus transit line (we rode a red double decker bus there - so fun!). The Streatham Hill area appears to be a working class transitioning area filled with lively local eateries, drinking establishments, and is very safe for tourists security-wise. The wait staff was very friendly providing excellent service and was very helpful in recommending a delicious array of choice savory morsels. The prices are VERY reasonable and there is a wide variety of European fine wines, and delectable liquors. The main room has a festive vibe, and is decorated with old photographs, paintings, and fun colored lighting - tables are cloth covered. I would recommend this restaurant in a heartbeat 💗 to anyone who wants a unique London experience with a very local flair, reasonable prices, and friendly staff. I will be in London for just 2 more days, and will return to Bar 61 for dinner again on my last night here. Cheers!🥂🍾🍸

My wife and I have been coming here for years. As always a warm greeting on arrival, great friendly service and wonderful food with good-sized tapas portions. I love this place! Others have mentioned parking issues but we've never had any problem finding a space in one of the side roads either before or after the restaurant.

What a gem! While dropping our daughter home we went to find somewhere to eat. We came across Bar 61 and being 3pm not many places serving lunch, let alone a late lunch but what a great place this is, full menu available. We chose tapas and so pleased we did! The plates were a great size so if your hungry like us you'll be well served. Probably the best tapas I've had outside of Spain. On point friendly service just topped off a lovely meal. Look forward to coming back on our next visit.

We went for a meal at bar 61 as we had heard good things about this Streatham restaurant and we were not disappointed. We ordered a selection at tapas dishes including the baby squid, whitebait, patatas bravas and the most amazing octopus. The octopus here is probably the bes we’ve had. Every piece was hot and so soft! Not at all chewy like it can be. The service was very smooth and done with ease. We will definitely be back. I would also recommend the hazelnut liquor to end your meal with! Delicious.

This is more like an authentic place, i see it like those small italian restaurants were everything from the menu is very good and tastefull, where people just go to eat real food and spend some quality time with friends and family. This place is delightful. Great atmosphere, excellent (and charming) service, and fantastic food. I can't speak for the a la carte menu (yet), but the tapas is very good, and the waiter helpfully suggested how many dishes was enough so we didn't over order. Incidentally, TimeOut is correct that the ratatouille is a stand-out dish. The sardines also come highly recommended. Good value, too, with tapas for two and a bottle of wine coming to £60, which is pretty respectable by London prices and worth every penny. My only regret is that at the end of the meal, DH and I looked at each other, and were like "do you have cash?" "no, I thought you had cash", so we couldn't leave a well-deserved tip. Clearly we'll have to go again to rectify this.

This is a real gem of a restaurant/bar. We ordered a bottle of the award winning Rioja Crianza and a wide selection of tapas. From the highly acclaimed ratatoulli to whitebait, chorizo, baby squid and much more. This restaurant caters for a wide range of tastes and preferences. The staff were extremely helpful, appropriately attentive and had a sense of humour. It felt cosy and homely and yet had a sense of occasion. We loved it and will be back. I highly recommend.

Easily the best tapas I've had in London. We went on Friday night and this place is an absolute delight! It is near impossible to find places like this anymore. I have come to the conclusion that it really depends a lot on who is writing the reviews of a restaurant on whether this deserves or not. Personally I feel that if it was mostly Spanish people that reviewed this place it probably wouldn't be rated this highly and I feel that British people tend to go gaga at good service and atmosphere, so much indeed that they will oversee mediocre food on their plate. This is the case with Bar 61. Bar 61 has a great decor and atmosphere and the service I must say is AMAZING, the man who attended us was cordial, friendly, went out of his way to please us and he even said that if we didn't like something we wouldn't have to pay for it. I must say that it was this level of services that stopped me from giving the place a two star, because he really was very kind. Now regarding the food let me tell you it wasn't the most affordable Spanish food we had or the best one. The Octopus as I recall it was quite mediocre and the rest of the dishes didn't taste out of this world or as authentic as we would have liked it. I can't go into specifics as I visited this place I while back, but I can assure you I was not blown away by it. If you compare the octopus or most of their dishes with Bodega in Portobello or Centro Galego de Londres it pales in comparison. We really went far to visit this place, as we went all the way from Ealing and we were not particularly thrilled by the food. If I was around the area, I may have gone again, but I would never recommend it as an amazing Spanish restaurant or go out of my way to visit it.
