Had an excellent dinner here. Food was great and the staff were friendly. Had a large platter to share amongst 4 of us. We all ate well. Had a good coffee and baklava afterwards. Would recommend you pay a visit.

Visited Güneş for tea and dessert, and it did not disappoint. Service was lovely and hospitable, the chocolate vanilla dessert was far better than expected and went well with the kunafa. My Turkish tea came in a large glass cup which was great, and I was pleasantly surprised with another for free afterwards! Would recommend.

My friends tell me i’m very generous with my stars, I respond, credit were credit is due! Visited Gunes for an office event and was pleased with the food, service and cleanliness of this place. We ordered, cold starters, calamari, mixed grill and a kunefe for desert. The mixed grill was wonderful with a selection of meats, all marinated well offering a different culinary experience. The stand out meat for me was the donner kebab and the adana kebab. All the variety of meats were marinated well and tender. The desert was a great insight into a differing culinary experience. The restaurant was very busy and you could see the waitress were under pressure but they managed well and kept their cool. All round positive experience, worth a visit.

Very good experience!!! The food was delicious, the place was clean and hygienic, the staff were smiling, engaging, attentive and accommodated our requests, the food arrived fast and we even got little dips and hot pita bread to start with. Great Turkish food, beautiful decor with nice out door sitting area, we sat outside as the weather was nice that evening. Friendly staff, food tasted delicious, portion looked small but it was filling to be honest so can’t fault them on that. Pricing was decent. Fantastic food and service. Generous portions and well flavoured food. I bought my boyf here for a birthday meal and he was surprised with a candlelit cheesecake (courtesy of the mgr) and the entire restaurant singing happy birthday (much to his embarrassment! Literally favourite if 1 of top 3 Turkish restaurant in East London for 1. Lovely delicious food :- salad, dips and bread you get when you come in and free Turkish tea offered after your meal. 2. This is my favourite turkish in walthamstow. The service is impeccable, the food is of the highest quality and the meat they use is soft, fresh and delicious. i am a vegetarian and i just cannot resist this place’s chicken shish. their hospitality is amazing and as a regular customer ive received a few extra treats :) if you are looking for a place to eat a delicious, fairly priced mediterranean dinner, Gunes is the place for you!

I'm a huge fan of this place, the ingredients are fresh and lots of care even in the presentation, and the service from everyone is wonderful. It's my favourite place to eat in Walthamstow. Very good range on the menu with lots of vegetarian options. Recommended trying the rice pudding for desert of you can squeeze it in!

Popped in for some a quick bite and in letting the staff know how hungry I was they recommended the chef's special! I've included a photo. Found it by curiosity on my way to the place where I was staying. The service was great, and they have a huge variety of meals, desserts and drinks to choose from. I've visited this restaurant several times now, and each time it has been a good experience. The food is consistently good, and service has been good. I associate Turkish food with either greasy dishes sitting in food warmers all day, or yoghurt-y stuff, and yes you can order yoghurt-y dishes here, there is also plenty without yoghurt, and I have not had any greasy food here, and I have not seen it in anything anyone else has ordered. This restaurant is well worth a visit.

This restaurant has only recently opened, so I popped in after the gym tonight to get a chicken shish to take away. Boy I wasn't disappointed. There is a large amount of seating, and also a bar at the end from what I could see. The staff were very friendly too. For £7.50 I got a medium shish - a chicken skewers, rice, salad, HUGE piece of bread, garlic and chilli sauces. I was meant to take a photo but ate it too quickly! I can see this being a regular for sure, so next time I'll take some pics too. Nom nom nom. *Update* Just placed my first order for collection, it was ready in the 15 minutes they said it would be. When I went in to get it, the restaurant was almost full which was great to see. Oh, and this time I took a photo of my gluttonous feed!

Hats off to the manager tonight. After Uber Eats gave us the completely wrong order from another place and we couldn't reach them. We rang Gunes, they were super busy and we were super hangry and annoyed. Even though it wasn't their fault, he listened to our complaint and rant and kindly offered to make us the food again. I've been to this restaurant a number of times and had take away, it's always really delicious and really good value. Waitress always brilliant too. First time I have eaten at Gunes restaurant and had some time to kill as I waited for my car to be serviced at a local garage. Popped in to kill some time and try out their lunch time offer. For starters I had a bulgur wheat salad with parsley, tomatoes and pomegranate juice. Seemed fresh and reasonable. Accompanied with a fresh salad and bread. Salad was very fresh and plentiful. The main was Adana kebab with rice and a piece of tortilla... reasonable taste but partway through seemed to bite down on a small piece of bone! Mentioned it to the waitress who was apologetic but guess that was down to their meat supplier in all fairness! I only include it here in case this is a regular occurence. Service was prompt and friendly. Probably been spoilt by eating at better places like Gokyuzu!

We had a nice dinner with my wife here, at Günes Turkish restaurant, just few min away from Walthamstow station. Very good food and the staff so looking after us because we been there with our 3 month old baby. We been served by 2 Romanian girl and a English girl also. I think the lady's name is Mihaela and Sfefania. I'm sorry if I wrong the names but anyway there the staff is so helpful and nice. I recommend this place even with children because there they have baby, chairs. Delicious foods, friendly staff, nice place. Enjoy all!!!

Simple but delicious Turkish food with a light bill to match. This is a popular restaurant with the locals, who enjoy tucking into mountains of meat that are being lovingly roasted, basted and chopped in the open kitchen. It feels like there are more waiters than customers, even when its ample dining space is full, so you should never have a problem getting your food or the attention of staff. Was unlucky enough for them to forget my takeaway order once but they were so apologetic when they realised that they offered the meal for free. Such courteous behaviour is rarely found in your local kebab shop. Surely this is a restaurant that will raise the bar for Turkish cuisine in the neighbourhood.

It is true that food should be little overpriced but not so much. On anther side taste was probably the best I ever tried from turkish restaurant. Service can be little faster but they are polite. If i will go there again? Sure, why not when I will want more food experience then to feed myself. Basically I go for cheaper restaurant of this kind but from time to time spend little more money for very complex and tasty meals is ok. And decoration is very nice. Today we were the first customers following the 11:00am opening and although they did not know the reasons for our group being there so early the care and hospitality shown was beyond 5 stars. Food was delicious and our waiter Renaud was so attentive, full of personality, smiles and professional he even put on a great selection of music just for us. Venue is clean, all staff welcoming and said good morning. It was a bit cold but with more people you will feel the heating more. Toilets need locks on them though. Descended on them with a group of 11 adults and children last night. After initially worrying that they would fit us in and telling us that we should have booked (we should have!) They sprung into action, rearranged some tables and seated us on two rows next to each other. Ordered mixed cold mezze, calamari and king prawn starters. All lovely. House red wine was fine, £15 a bottle. We had a variety of main courses, all really nice. I had a chicken shish with yogurt which was lovely. Really good, attentive, staff. All 11 of us happy, including two vegans and three vegetarians and a couple of unrepentant carnivores. We had a top night and will be back, but we'll book next time because if they continue in the same direction this place is going to be busy!

Absolutely amazing food! I honestly did not expect to be so impressed with the taste of the starters and main courses, me and my wife had. We had the Falafel as a starter and the waiters also brought (withouth being asked, which is a custom in all Turkish restaurants I've visited) some BBQ Grilled vegetables, bread, and a couple of sauces. Our main courses were Creamy chicken and chicken shuish with yoghurt. All listed so far had amazing taste. The only drawback was the dessert - Baklava, which wasn't up to the standard of the rest of the meals, but bear in mind - it was for free and therefore it shouldn't be taking into account. Waiters were very friendly and offered to pack some of the food to take away as it was too much for us to have at once. Our waitress also added some of the that baklava to our bag with the take away, which was a very nice touch. I would be returning soon and you should try this restaurant, too!

I've eaten food from this new grill in Walthamstow twice: the first time was at the restaurant with a friend, and the last time I got takeaway for my family. The restaurant meal was great. The premises are spotlessly clean and the staff were very friendly and attentive (but not overly so). The food was fantastic. The portions were not enormous, but reasonable. I had a mixed lamb and chicken shish, with a side of grilled onion in pomegranate. The lamb was well marinated and grilled, and the chicken was excellent - moist, but still charred. My mate's chicken doner, too, looked fabulous. He wasn't too keen on the grilled onion, but I enjoyed it. One thing we were both puzzled by was the choice to include in the rice what anyone who went to school in the eighties would recognise as frozen veg. Bit weird, but no big deal. Price-wise, while not exorbitant, it's on the high side for a mangal – £10.90 for the mixed shish – but if this review were based on the food and service at the restaurant alone, it would be a 4.5. The takeaway, on the other hand, was not so great. I ordered a cold mixed meze, lamb shish, chicken doner and a portion of chips. After phoning, I walked up to collect the food. The restaurant was less than half full, but the staff looked pretty manic. It wasn't clear where takeaway food was to be collected, so I hung the entrance for a few minutes before I was directed to the cash register at the back of the room, beyond the grill. The music was very loud, and I had to work to catch the attention of the lady behind the till, although she was very courteous once I had. While there, I also ordered a portion of baclava, which looked amazing, fresh from the oven. First, they mixed up my order with that of the guy behind me, and we had to clarify. Not a big issue, but indicative that the till and the grill weren't communicating as best as they could. The baker brought out the portion of baclava and seemed to be ignored by the lady on the till, so he went over to the grill and started a heated conversation with one of the cooks there. After a few minutes, I had to approach the baker myself and asked if he had my baclava. The mezes were individually very good – especially the tarama and kisir - but they came in one large carton without being separated, so they had bled into one another by the time I got home. To prevent this, from every other grill I know they either come in individual containers or are separated by slices of cucumber. The lamb shish was good, but not as well grilled as last time. (And the school veg was still present and correct in the rice. Why?) The chicken doner was slightly anaemic-looking, suggesting it could have done with a bit more of a blast, but my kids said it tasted good. There was plenty of pide, albeit slightly dry; however, there were no charred chillies – as there were when I ate in the restaurant – and they forgot to put in the salads which should have come with the grills. I couldn't bear the thought of schlepping back, or having to explain myself once I had, so we lived without. The prices are the same for takeaway as they are to eat in the restaurant – high, relative to other grills in the area – and this second experience did not justify them (certainly not when compared to the superb Koz on Lea Bridge Road). In fairness, they could just have been having one of those days. It happens, and the first time eating there shows they can really cook. I'd definitely give them another go. And the baclava really were out of this world.
