Was on the street near our hotel with my family looking for places to eat on our first night in London. A lovely gentleman saw us looking confused, came up to us and we started a conversation. He told us if we wanted real authentic Indian food without caring about location or aesthetics, this was his favourite place. We didn’t mind, back home our favourite pizza place was a small place in a street corner and we’d go there for years. We were still skeptical, though, we didn’t know much about London, after all! After a couple minutes of walking we got there, and the service and food did NOT disappoint! Absolutely amazing. Friendly staff, authentic and delicious Indian food, just an overall great experience. So far during our stay in London, nothing has been able to top it! The gentleman that sent us there was truly an angel from above LOL

Have been going to this restaurant for years. Excellent value, good food, clean and friendly. I am so glad they've survived the lockdown - love this place and the staff.

Without doubt the best curry in England if not the world! Nothing has come close to this, not even in India did I taste something so divine as this! All the Gohst dishes are exceptional! I love the team here as well, so friendly! They greet me like a long lost brother every time i eat at the restaurant!

I’ve never eaten so delicious indian food in my life! Just came from Germany and ate there with friends. Our plates were empty in under 5 minutes! The service was top we got fruit and sweets at the end. The waiters were were polite and friendly. This restaurant will be our first stop on our next trip to London for sure!

Lovely little gem of a restaurant for some fine quality Indian food. If you want that authentic taste with that old school vibe this is the place. There Biryanis are delicious and you'll be coming back for more. Very friendly staff implementing covid-19 procedures very well. Highly recommend you have the Gulabjaman with ice cream dessert too ufff mouth watering delicious.

Fantastic Indian restaurant, great prices and very good service. It is the oldest Indian restaurant in East London! Menu includes a wide range of vegetarian options too. I like the fact that you can order half portions of some dishes so you can try different things.

I have visited Halal about six times and was there yesterday. I've enjoyed everything we've ever eaten here and that's testament to the food. What makes Halal stand out is the staff. They are excellent. No question they can't answer. If you want to know how spicy something is or what they recommend. They are extremely courteous and always helpful. I don't give five stars often but definitely this is justified. It is tucked away near Lehman St but worth the effort. And to add there is a specials board.

Wonderful, down to earth place, a true gem. Food is flavorful and delicious. Biryani comes with a small portion of dal (but it was a portion of curry in my case). The naan was delicious, but just a little undercooked (but still ok to eat). Service is very attentive and friendly. We are happy to visit again.
Allow me this commentary: In Covid-19 times, I am not happy to share the sauce carousel for the papadams with everyone, especially because the spoons were not changed. So plenty of customers touch the spoons before you touch them. That's not ok.
Other than that, everything got disinfected, waiters wearing masks etc.
