Reviews of Indian Veg
A. F.
Great value veggie Indian buffet. Lovely fresh salads and mixed dishes. Recommend the Aloo Paneer and Dall. Quirky posters promoting healthy style eating. Be kind and stay well
C. N.
Cool unique place, only veg and vegetarian food available. Open buffet for affordable price and good quality! Recommended :)
A. P.
Not to bad , price increase as you can see , everything is up on cost so it's no surprise it's the new normal sadly, still fairly decent food tho. They prefer cash here also .
J. G.
This is one of those places you either love or hate. Personally love it, buffet all you can eat, relaxed, calming and staff that are happy to engage and be friendly or just leave you to it. Decent location too that suits the type of place it is, set back from the main streets etc.
Food is always good, if you a big eater this is def worth the money!
I've even taken my 4 yo daughter here and she loved it. Long live the buffet!
P. A.
We booked a table for a small 50th birthday party and had an excellent time. The food was delicious and great value for money. The staff were very accommodating and helpful. The restaurant was busy, but not full. We arrived at 7:30pm and we were put under no pressure to leave before we were ready to go, which was fairly close to closing time. Well done Indian Veg we all look forward to seeing you again soon.

This place right here, Indian Veg is the hidden gem of authentic Indian cuisine. For a meat lover like me who went in with an open heart to not expect much from a vegetarian diet, I was so so wrong. Ideally located only 3mins walk from Angel Train Station with lots of buses and along the White Chapel Market, you gotta eat here 💯
First impression... Warm, clean and friendly. Wide variety of meal options, all vegetarian with lots of healthy facts plastered all over the wall. I was amazed by some of them actually and after speaking with the owner who clearly runs the place with lots of love and passion before profits, feeding 100 homeless people daily which amounts to 700 weekly, I'm in awe. Not only do I have lots of undying respect for the owner, every single dish were mouthwatering and free from any nasties like msg. I swear down, I never ever thought I'd like vegetarian food but I'm definitely half converted after visiting Indian Veg. Put it this way, I won't be buying meat in a hurry after I use up current stack in freezer.
For a foodie like me, I couldn't manage more than 2 plates and there was no corkage fee to Bring Your Own Wine/Beer. Glasses were supplied too freely and the food supplies kept coming. Though you serve yourself but please, take small portions at a time so as to avoid wastage. Oh did I mention too that the All You Can Eat buffet is a tenner? Yep, very cheap and cheerful with quality homemade vegetarian, healthy meals. Every single person that were eating there were all friendly as we all spoke about how amazing the place was and for so little price, it should be put on the very top of The Best Places To Eat In London, England, UK.
A. F.
This resurant is simply amazing. The food is very tasty at a really great price, especially for London prices. It's a proper quirky little place with the most insane amount of information about healthy living and vegetarian/vegan life style benefits plastered all over the walls. It's quite intense all the info but brilliant. Real Character. More places like this in the world please
U. L.
A great place for healthy and cheap food! Maybe the lighting is too bright for a first date but you can bring your own booze, eat as much as you can for a tenner and be informed by the campaigning vegetarian posters covering every wall. My favourite was 'We could not bring the housewives but we brought the recipes'. Perfect for these times of austerity. My only warning is it's hard not to overeat when food is so good and so cheap, so try and have a break between refills...
S. S.
Without a doubt, London’s best Indian buffet. Not only was the food delicious and full of variety, Mr. Safa (pictured) was a wonderful host and took time to speak to us in detail about his story, the early days of the restaurant and more. He even kindly gifted me one of their famous novelty mugs (as a birthday present)!
The interior is a delight, filled to the brim with all sorts of vege/vegan paraphernalia, jokes & anecdotes. It really is one of London’s hidden gems - I just hope more people discover it! 🥦🥬🌽🥕🫒🫑🧅🧄🥑🍆🍅

Fabulous food (…I forgot to photograph it and, three plates into the all-you-can-eat challenge I can’t move my belly back to the buffet bar…) the walls also feed your mind.
Quirky, cheap, accommodating, this restaurant – which incidentally also feeds the homeless – needs to be on the want-to-go list of any aspiring vegan/vegetarian visiting London.
O. H. (. T.
A very unique atmosphere, food was pleasant and a good ethos
L. L.
By far the best culinary and spiritual experience I have ever had in my life. Safa is an incredibly gracious host and the food and the ambiance both perfectly fit the prerequisites for a transcendental experience. 100% will return and can not recommend strongly enough.
A. K.
Very nice place, in fact the only restaurant in the UK where I found the food a value for
Money and very tasty. The owner is a very nice person. Such restaurants should gain more popularity. Simple ambience but you get good home made Indian food taste.
W. S.
Great food, really groovy. Definitely not one of these soulless chain places! Only reason for 4 stars was price. Said £7.95 outside but I was charged £10.95. It’s ok to raise prices once in a while, I’d have preferred to know is all
B. H.
Amazing veggie buffet bar. Great selection of dishes to choose from. Tasty dishes as well. And all in a room of posters containing quotes promoting vegetarianism. Wonderful experience all round
J. M.
All you can eat Indian Vegetarian buffet for £11.
The walls are covered head to toe in infomercials in what can only be described as a vegetarian propaganda masterpiece.
Salad, bread, rice, vegetable curries and few other things. For the first plate, you have to try a little of everything. Personally I would recommend the Potato Panner, but the is hopefully enough of a selection for everybody.
Also free takeaway food if you are homeless!
A. T. C.
Homeopathic posters are entertaining and food is tasty however not the freshest. For example the bhaji and pakoras and potatoes were not under a heat lamp and cold. Strange considering we were part of the early dinner rush when it should be relatively well stocked and ready. Their free food for the homeless nets them an additional star.
T. H.
Always try to pop in when passing nearby - have been coming here since the 90s! A local classic. Tasty, good value Indian vegetarian food.
I. D. L. A.
Humble but nice and innovative restaurant. I find they rely too much on potato though, and I was a bit dissapointed not finding any plant based protein like heura or seitan to accompany the really good sauces and flavors
C.
Value = brilliant
Decor = CRINGE
Overall = probably the best place ever if you don’t have your glasses on and can avoid the propaganda that is plastered over every surface. Simple great food and byob in a prime location makes this a worthwhile visit.
j. h.
Great food! Amazing variety! Friendly people. Excellent if your with veggies.
W. V.
I love buffets and buffets that are less than a tenner with good food are my favourite. I paid nearly £8 for dinner. I think lunch is cheaper but I could be wrong. Ice-cream and other desserts are not part of the buffet though and you have to pay for them separately. Good food selections. Its all vegetarian. I refilled my plate about 4 times. Do not judge me.
M. P.
Hands down the best vegan Indian I've ever had. Such a beautiful wholesome place, I felt so welcomed and looked after. The food is unbelievably good, so fresh and so much flavour. The lovely gentleman who owns the restaurant is such a delight, one of the good ones. Will be visiting again very very soon! Think it's going to be a weekly visit! Luckily it's only £9 for a buffet!!!
Z. S.
Absolutely amazing experience. Great price £10.95 all you can eat. Had my fill and then some. Bring your own beer too with no corkage fee and they even give food to homeless every day. Will definitely be going back especially for the things I didn't get to try!
L. W.
Amazing food. Buffet style with so many different mains, sides, salads starters and sweets. Everything was delicious and fresh. Such a nice relaxed atmosphere inside.
They give free meals to homeless which is a great idea.
D. Ş.
Delicious Indian food, all you can eat buffet style for a very reasonable price. I had 3 helpings and their daal is insane. This is my new Indian food hot spot in London
T. C.
Just stumbled upon here while visiting London and found out it is an amazing place with an awesome vibe, great outlook and the food is the best bit! It all tastes fresh, flavourful and well cooked. But buffet style all you can eat! 5 stars
R. J.
There was once a dream that was Indian Veg. You could only whisper it. Anything more than a whisper and it would vanish, it was so fragile... let us whisper now, together, you and I.. By eating a painfully large amount of vegetable curry.
I. Y.
Vegetarian buffet for £7.95.
The Dal is so tasty!
Just come try this restaurant!
You won't regret it!
Probably the best Vegetarian buffet in England. Probably...
R. A. (.
Love Indian vegetarian food and this place is fantastic... has a nice buffet selection that is all you can eat and at £8.95 you can’t beat that!
Give it a try, you won’t regret it... well maybe the very full stomach afterwards Hahahaha.
Ps don’t expect fine dining, it’s cheap, cheerful and yummy 👌🏼
P. P.
Great vegan buffet, where for 8 quid u can have as much as you like. Very simple, tasty and varied food! Bring Your Own Booze place as well :)
R. B.
This a major go ! Great Indian vegan buffet for a fair price ! Definitely worth visit ! All the walls are filled with quotes studies articles very interesting. Food was good. And you can learn lot of stuff if you observe what's written on the walls.
E. R.
Where do I begin? Indian Veg is a heavenly place. Perfectly situated in Angel, with the owner, who actually feels like a real-life angel, opening the restaurant day and night and giving any homeless person food and water seven days of the week. He also sends the majority of his profits to schools and disability services in India. A selfless, giving and humble man. The restaurant is covered with interesting factual posters that are written by his daughter, who is a doctor, and her friends who also work for NHS, and designed by him. There are so many inspirational and thought-provoking messages that make you feel so much gratitude and appreciation for life. And I haven't even started writing about the food yet! Delicious home-cooked fresh authentic Indian food (all fairly mild). It's so yummy and the best thing is you can have as much as you desire! I love Indian Veg and will be supporting it as much as I can. Definitely recommend!!!
b. u.
THIS PLACE IS AMAZING, not only is their food amazing but you can tell they put so much work into making their place nice.. the toilets are clean the tables are set nicely and provide amazing service however it is very pricey and the stairs to the toilet are very narrow and as someone who faints without any notice before I faint can be very dangerous for me
G. C.
Value for money. I wouldn't say it's excellent but it delivers everytime. £7.99 for all you can eat im central London is a bargain. They have several options, all vegetarian and most vegan. The restaurant is decorated with several pro-vegetarian newspaper cut outs.
Q.
Go and eat here, you won't be disappointed. To our surprise nearly every dish was vegan with the exception of one paneer curry and one sauce. The food was really tasty and had a variety of different vegetables. I would of preferred a bit more spice however I understand that they have to try to cater for everyone's taste. The buffet is really good value for money (currently £10.95) and good quality. It got really busy when we went on a Friday evening which was a good sign. Would definitely recommend :)
K. S.
A real vegan affordable paradise, great food mostly vegan, 2 dishes including milk and marked well. The service is personal and food is so tasty that we came there 3 days in a raw! Not to be missed
A. D.
It's always busy for a reason! One the best deal in the area. I have to admit I am not an Indian food expert but I thought it was honestly good and varied enough... Especially for the price. Staff really chill and I love that you can learn about ways to improve your 'digestive health' while eating a veggie curry...
P. P.
Unique and long-standing restaurant serving traditional Indian food buffet style, memorable for its walls bedecked with articles on the benefits of a vegetarian diet. Excellent food for vegetarians and omnivores wanting to eat something more healthy
D. L.
This. Place. Is. Spectacular. Food is truly second to none, for a price that is more than reasonable.
Indian Veg is so much more than a restaurant - their mission to promote vegetarianism and to spread awareness of how food can nourish the body is clearly reflected by the walls covered in health facts and tips.
Their underlying ethos of kindness really comes through in their commitment to providing a meal for the homeless anytime of the day, seven days a week.
A simple, humble gem of a place.
M. K.
My favourite vegan place! I had no idea I love Indian food before I came here 😅
A. T.
They have buffet options. Eat all you can in 11 pounds, which is not cheap from what it may seem. The food is okay and not great. The oil content is on the higher side for most of the items. It's worth a shot if you have a huge appetite and can make the money worth by eating a ton.
N. R. (.
I love Indian Veg, it's one of my favourite places in London. Really good vegetarian food at a reasonable price. All you can eat savoury stuff. The walls are heavily decorated with vegetarian propaganda - I'm glad it survived the recent refurbishment. It is something to behold.
They have bowls for the Dal now, which is handier than before. A variety of salads are available. The labelling of food is good for vegans (some dishes contain milk products). There are a variety of vegetable curries (containing various pulses), a selection of rice choices, fried onion. My mouth waters, thinking of all the food I have had there over the years.
There is a wide selection of soft drinks and teas (tap water is available), you can bring in alcohol. Lassi and deserts are available. I highly recommend this establishment! Disability access: no disabled toilet, and a step at the entrance.
V. V.
Honestly this is hands down one of the nicest places i've eaten. Forget fine dining, this is outstanding, authentic home cooking at its finest! But what really sets this place apart is its hospitality, this establishment really could not do enough to make us feel welcome and to ensure our experience was the best it could be. Free education all over the walls, BYOB is a lovely touch, and we even got a indian veg mug on the house!!! Definitely going to be coming back and bringing our friends and family whenever they visit. Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!!
c. m.
Love this place. Great veggie Indian food, all you can eat for £7.95. also great fun posters all over the place promoting the benefits of vegetarianism. I mean who knew "tomatoes help to improve sex life"
G. S.
Running a veg Indian buffet is difficult but this modest establishment does it well. Compared to any Indian dhaba in Delhi this place is a bargin. Food is fresh, the buffet has a good variety and the place is clean. The masala is accurate and they hardly use ghee and oil which is healthy. Cheers!
A. M.
If you are after authentic, delicious Indian food, this is the place to go. None of the anglicised "Indian" dishes that you come across in your local curry house, but a genuine flavour of everyday Indian cuisine that you'd get in India.
The food is fresh, good quality and well prepared. A great range of options too, to go with it.
The wall is decorated with lots of inspirational vegetarian thoughts, quoting the likes of Einstein, William Wordsworth, etc. Plus they offer free takeaway for homeless people throughout the day!
Absolutely love this place , which was interestingly initially recommended by a French friend !!
(Sorry, forgot to take photos of the food.. was way to eager to start eating before realising should have taken some pics for a review later!)
F. S.
Best vegan place to eat in all of London - prices are incomparable and unlimited buffet… amazing
E. C.
I've been coming to this awesome place with my family ever since I was in nappies, so that's around 27 years now.
It's honestly probably my favourite restaurant and always will be.
I'm vegan so it's perfect for me as it's fully veggie and mostly vegan, but I couldn't imagine anyone, whether vegan/veggie or meat eater, to come here and not enjoy the amazing food.
It's all so delicious, with so many different flavours. I've also noticed that recently they've added even more amazing dishes to the buffet.
It's a very modest, down to earth kind of place, so no one should go here expecting the Ritz, but it's ethical, tasty, amazing value for money and best of all they even provide free meals to homeless people!
I recommend anyone who hasn't been here to give it a try and see how amazing it is :)
E. A.
I’ve been coming to this peaceful and welcoming vegetarian restaurant for over 20 years now and believe me I certainly wouldn’t keep coming back if the food wasn’t out of this world. I went last week for the first time since before the pandemic and I must say I was not disappointed at all and it was as gorgeous tasting as ever. All I can say is the food and variety have just got better and better over the years and the fact that this is an (eat as much as you want restaurant) just makes the experience even more worth the money. Plus they have the option to bring your own beer or wine if you choose. Although not that I ever have as the selection of cold beverages are a perfect choice anyway.
R. M.
A true institution! Incredible food, super friendly staff and an amazing menu to choose from. Will come here again and again and recommend to anyone/everyone. Posters are a bonus added to the already top tier experience!!
R. E.
Simple, quick, and inexpensive vegetarian meals. With ample seating options inside. Bring cash and pay on your way out.
K. T.
I've been to Indian buffets before, but this is a cut above, different flavours & textures & not greasy like your usual high street 'curry', 'Bring your own if you wish'.
Yes there is an evangelical element with the posters on the wall, but I found it interesting & heartfelt.
S. G.
If you're looking for brilliant vegan food, this is average. Vegan Fusion is only a little further up the road on Chapel Market and is EXCELLENT. Seriously tasty and great service. Unfortunately when you Google them, this restaurant comes up!
S. C.
The food in here is phenomenal, so delicious, beats any Indian food I've ever had and I'm usually a meat eater, but still enjoy the food immensely. The price is very reasonable indeed, especially being in London. Wish I could go here more often but I live in Hertfordshire
H. S.
I was a teenager when I ate food for the first time at Indian Veg Bhelpoori House and over 20 years later I’m still coming here and enjoying the food more than ever. Well deserving of 100 star review! Highly recommended!
A. R.
Home like food..Lot of choices of salads and curries with very good taste.loved mixed daal with poori the most. All this at a very good reasonable price.
S. S.
What a lovely place. Great food, byob (we brought our own beers), and a great mission. They serve homeless folks a takeaway box and water bottle upon request. All vegetarian, but I didn't miss the meat at all. This is a sweet, peaceful, tasty, buzzy little restaurant. We'll be back!
G. B.
It was the perfect place to host tasty food for all appetites. Long as you don't mind the bombastic bombardment of news headlines telling you the great new secret discovered for reversing your age. Loved it & everyone there.
p. p.
Amazing Indian veg place. Tasty food. Diverse selection. With some serious thoughtful information on the walls around healthy living and vegetarian diet. As an Indian, pleasantly surprised to find tasty non oily food that is as good what you can find on streets of Mumbai. Thank you for your passion
B.
Incredible. I couldn't recommend anymore. The food is amazing, the vibe is amazing. Insane value for money. Lovely staff. I cannot wait to go back. Also, there's even more options than when I was last there!
L. S.
Love Indian veg which has been on Chapel Market for years & goes from strength to strength. More choice now than ever. 5 curries 3 rice's various bhaji & bread plus many salads as much as you like for a tenner
L. B. N.
Amazing.
The food was delicious. Authentic Indian restaurant. It keeps the idea of the family restaurants all over Asia. They have a good variety of currys, some salads and rice.
The idea is very simple: grab a plate, take a sit and enjoy the food.
They allow to you to bring drinks from outside, including beer and wine which you cannot find in the restaurant.
The most amazing part of the site is that they feed homeless people at anytime of the day.
We had the opportunity to have a chat with the owner. He said that he is running the restaurant from the past 33 years and he destinats part of the money owe to numerous charities programs back in Bangladesh.
Great vegetarian (almost vegan) food, healthy and homemade. Only 8 pounds per person and they do an amazing community support. What else can you ask for?
D. H.
Good Indian food. 90% vegan! Great selection too. Dinner buffet at a great price £7.95! And they have vegan lassi!
J. W.
Good quality, affordable Indian vegetarian food. Absolutely love.
H. V.
In life, any man can easily be led astray. Indian Veg is an abode of peace and light in this dark world.
P. S.
Amazing vegetarian and vegan food!
What a wonderful concept to have in the midst of so many meat options along Chapel street. The food is so lovely and simple, not overloaded with spices like usual restaurants. The food is simple, however, no compromise on taste at all! The interior is tastefully designed to make you re-think why any one would want to harm any soul. The staff have always been so lovely to us and now that it’s open post-lockdown we will continue to make this our go-to place wheneverr we are in the area. Give it a go, we have again, and again, and again... And will continue to do so!!!
K. S.
great veg...simple setting, tasty food, relaxed atmosphere. you can BYO with no corkage charged. they also provide free food for the homeless.you get some satisfaction by supporting them while enjoying healthy delicious food.
T. P.
The food was tasty and I really like the way they do it. They not only serve food, they educate and do good things. This place has heart.
S. A.
Indian buffet, lots of choice, you can get a great deal for 10 pounds. If you are vegetarian and you are around Angel, you definitely need to give it a try!
N. W. K.
An absolute classic Islington institution. The owners are so friendly and run the place with a really kind ethos. Cheap, cheerful, tasty. If you’re a local, you’ve been eating here for years, and hopefully will be for many more!
D. J.
Fast, hot lunch that’s as tasty and spicy, at a great price. Neighborhood gem
g. g.
i ate here with my family and it was delicious! not only were the staff extremely friendly but the food was delicious! would defina recommend even if you’re not vegan (like me)
L. D.
I love this place! Incredibly tasty, healthy and cheap. Authentic tasting pure veg Indian, and they seem like a lovely bunch of people too. Top scores.
M. X.
As expected it is the best place to try vegetarian foods, so many varieties to choose from! The owner of the shop is amazingly caring and probably best food in the city. Highly recommended.
M. S.
It's no Dishoom but it does the job! Don't expect fine dining but expect great, tasty and non-greasy food. The decor is something to behold though - even everyone's favourite princess is a veggie!
R. D.
This place has been here a lonnnnnnnnngggg time - I have been going on and off for about 20 years! When I first started it was a real bargain at £3.50 for all you can eat, time has past since then and it is now priced at £10.95 for the same deal... It's been about 10 years since I last visited, so when a friend suggested it, I was glad to revisit after such a long time. In fact stepping through the doorway was like stepping back in time - it was exactly like it was since my last visit 10 years ago, actually even since I first started coming 20 years ago! The inside is like a basic traditional cafe that you would find in India and the walls are covered in posters and signs about a vegetarian diet and others giving the health benefits of cinnamon and drinking warm water not cold. Although the signs are the same, they don't look very faded or grubby so either they give them a good cleaning or replaced regularly. We arrived just after 5pm on a Saturday afternoon. No one else was there although a few people started to trickle in later. Not much of a greeting and we pretty much helped ourselves to plates and food. There were a variety of curries, all fairly mild - however there was a lot of potato - it would have been nice to have some without, dhal (lentils), puries (small fried flat bread) and a variety or rice (pilau, brown short grain, white). Also a variety of salads - carrot, beetroot, lettuce/cucumber/tomato (the tomato didn't taste fresh though), chickpeas some chutney. There were also a few onion bhajis and some nice fried banana balls (only 3). The food overall was ok - a little disappointing though without a variation in spice levels in the curries available (and the taste of the ones available pretty same same tasting)- too much potato and food like the banana balls and bhajis were not being restocked, no papadoms or samosas or rice pudding. Saying that I did have 3 plates of food and came out feeling very full! The place was clean and it was nice to take a trip down memory lane. Great for quantity but need to do a little more to make it a quality experience that I would want to come back for.
A. G.
Excellent food - all vegetarian and amazing variety and flavour. Very nice and welcoming. Owner is polite and generous. Highly recommend for vegetarians and anyone else! Will be visiting again for the delicious paneer gravy and chana dishes. Very authentic!!
K. B.
Great place to eat. Have been going for many years and the quality of the food is 1st Class and excellent vegetarian food. Can't recommend it enough.
S. G.
Delicious and authentic. A great place to have a student-friendly dinner with uni friends! Great price, great atmosphere and lovely owner. 10/10 recommend this gem
N. B.
Indian Veg is brilliant, I have been going here for years. Its about £6 for as much food as you can eat and its healthy, mainly vegan and very filling. You can BYOB and they have a great selection of quirky soft drinks to choose from.
There is signage everywhere which tells you about the benefits of eating their food/being a vegetarian and some of it is very funny, not sure if thats the intention but its great!!
M.
Very cheap vegetarian buffet in Angel. Not a massive choice, but enjoyed the food. One for a cheap meal whilst visiting the pubs/bars
J. E.
I have been eating here for decades. The food is excellent, and fantastically priced. (All you can eat for £7:50.)
The place is clean, but basic. You can bring your own booze. Food is entirely vegetarian, with a good selection of vegan dishes.
The staff are friendly, and this restaurant has one admirable feature: they donate takeaway food to homeless people any time they are open (and have been doing so for 30 years!)
Highly recommended for healthy eating at a terrific price. (Very close to Angel tube, too.)
J. N.
Great Indian vegetarian food buffet. Eat as much as you want and have a drink for under £14.
P. S.
Couldn't find a single fault with the food. Paid £9 something at time of visit for all you can eat. I also saw them giving away free food to the not so fortunate with no questions asked
H. D.
Fun place to get buffet with very tasty vegetarian Indian food. BYOB is a big bonus. They feed the homeless and people who can’t afford to eat so there’s a good feeling that you’re helping to support a system that looks after others by going there.
V.
Perfect little vegetarian Indian buffet. Much better than any Chinese buffet I've tried! And no restrictions like the sushi buffet does. Very good price for what it is. The only con sometimes it gets a bit loud-ish but it also has a great community feel to it, it's like a pub but for food instead of drinks!
N. E.
Highly recommend! Every dish was so tasty and not too oily. Great variety for the price and the owner is so lovely. Bonus points for their interesting decor and them feeding the homeless. Will definitely be back.
G. S.
Superb vegetarian food with great variety and colour. This is not a 5-star restaurant setting but if you are looking for fast, simple, great value and authentic Indian food this is the place to go. We hit it every time we visit London
R. C. H.
Fascinating place. Really cheap - £7-8 for all you can eat buffet of vegetarian only Indian food. Free BYOB. They take card now (at last). Food is delicious but It’s mainly peas and potatoes. Mind you It’s very filling! Staff aren’t very attentive or courteous but they’re not rude. Sometimes it can be hard to get a wine glass or bottle opener from them.

What's not to love. Tasty food at £7.50 a head, and bring your own booze. Self service buffet with curries, a choice of rice, salads. Great location. Friendly. Entertaining posters. Popped in this evening at 7pm and it was possible to get a table. Table turnover was probably not much longer than an hour - some people were refuelling in advance of a night out. Deservedly popular.

We were eager to find a delicious Indian restaurant and Indian Veg did not disappoint! For the very reasonable price of £9 we were able to enjoy endless Indian food. The restaurant is entirely vegetarian, yet each dish was hearty and extremely flavorful. In particular, I would recommend saving room for the paneer dishes and some of the raw salads. Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant for all vegetarians and fans of Indian food.
G. A.
I've been to this vegetarian restaurant many times and I always leave happy, full and enlightened. I've taken many vegetarians and vegans, people who are allergic to peanuts, shellfish, mustard and other allergens, people who can't eat too spicy food and all have enjoyed their experience. The pictures on the walls always give you something interesting to chat and learn about. You can also bring your own booze! Not only this the restaurant gives free food to the homeless and its very reasonable priced. Highly recommended by me and my friends.
S. S.
Good food with a variety of selection. £8.95 for a buffet from 12pm to 11. 30pm which is quite reasonable too. What really touched me is the fact that they give food to the homeless. A small take away container with a bottle of spring water. Keep it up!
K. P.
Have visited 3 times and have been happy with my visit every time. Excellent food and although I am vegetarian myself, I have brought non-veggie friends and they have absolutely loved it too! Great value for money and the owner is very friendly too. Definitely recommend, can't go wrong for £7.95 all you can eat! Going to visit tomorrow with my boyfriend :)
W. G.
Absolutely amazing experience! The owner (who is the nicest and most natural person) runs the restaurant for over 30 years now. The walls are covered with posters and pictures that convey vegetarian ideology. I am not vegetarian. My wife is and we both LOVED the food and atmosphere. For 7,95 you can eat all you can. You can also bring your own drinks (even a big bottle of wine or beers). Fantastic place with great food!
H. C.
£7.95 for all you can eat is good. Free food for the homeless is good. We went on a Sunday evening and it wasn’t too crowded. Food was tasty if a bit oily. Most things were vegan which is good. Warm plates would have improved our experience.
H. Z.
The staff here were accomodating and we were seated immediately. The buffet was plentiful, warm, and tasty for the price! The potatoes tasted a bit burnt, but was not big deal. The decoration of the place was quite quirky too, which is nice! It's very laid back and BYOB. Would visit again.
P. G.
Amazing restaurant. It's all you can eat buffet for 8 pounds. They also have Bring Your Own Beer (BYOB) policy. The buffet has a lot of variety, hot plates and salads. Any of the dishes is very spicy.
There is also an option for you to buy some natural juices or smoothies there.
E. H.
Cool, casual, all you can eat, vegan and very tasty! This is all you need!
D. S.
Indian Veg is fantastic. Buffet style, all you can eat for less than £8 per head. It's all vegetarian and lots of the dishes are vegan, and all of them are clearly labelled. Spotlessly clean with posters advocating vegetarianism covering almost every surface.
If you like Indian vegetarian food and want to stuff yourself rotten on the cheap, you can't beat this place.
r. b.
I visited the restaunrant a couple of days back, and it felt as though I was eating some delicious home-made indian food. The people working there (and the owner himself) are warm and welcoming. I admire the social cause that the restaurant is a part of.
R. R.
I’ve been going for about 15 years. The manager is a lovely man. Always gives me a warm welcome. The food is very tasty. Service is a bit sparse. It’s bit more of a “go up and ask if you want” kind of place but it is a lot cheaper than other Indian restaurants. I love the veggie propaganda on the walls. It’s good fun to read and saves you taking a book with you.
H. C.
Just as delicious as ever, I was surprised they were still doing the buffet but they were cleaning utensils regularly and limiting the amount of people allowed at the buffet at once, so really no cause for concern there. Definitely go and support this islington institution and the lovely people who run it.
J. C.
An inspirational eatery, with a lovely manager. The food is vegetarian and vegan. It was very tasty. Very clean and hygienic inside with lots of interesting posters. A great place to visit. Even proved quite educational! The restaurant has good ethics too. It offers free takeaways to the homeless. Many Thanks, Bhelpoori :)

S. B.
Amazing food, authentic, generous and satisfying dining experience. This place has a wonderful ethos, it supports charities, it's a pioneer in promoting eating and living in a healthy, sustainable way. BYOB for alcohol or choose from a great big fridge full of delicious soft drinks. The curry is served canteen style and you can eat as much as you like for £8. My husband loves curry and we agree this is the best place to eat it in London! Everything is vegetarian, some of the very best around, (we are both meat eaters but we could change if we are here every day) !
C. S.
Discovered this by accident. It looks like a newsagent from the outside! Great vegan and vegetarian buffet options. Takeaway is 4 quid for a small and 6 quid for large. Recommended
L. W.
Delicious food all clearly labelled as vegan or vegetarian for a bargain price. BYOB and a wonderful friendly atmosphere.
S. J.
Easily one of my favourite places to eat on London. It is low fuss, consistently tasty, good food.
There is always a variety of options for those with different "spice levels", and I can happily say I enjoy every-single-option.
A vegetarian buffet style restaurant. This is not a "wine and dine" place; rather a cosy place to go with friends on a budget. Nonetheless, whenever I have the pleasure of returning to London, it is my one stop for lunch every time.
P. F.
When I worked nearby, I regularly made a point of eating here and still make a point of visiting whenever I get to London. Great food for a great price. You'll never leave there feeling hungry.
S. B.
Yum! The buffet is £5.50 now, but still a good value for all you could eat, and everything tasted delicious! 3 different kinds of rice, about 4 or 5 main selections, plush my different kinds of salads and naan bread. The only thing I have to say is that the staff, while nice, aren't terribly attentive. Didn't ask what we wanted to drink or anything. At least they weren't rude though.
C. H.
Great selection of veggie Indian food. Has become less of a bargain over the years, but is still a great place to eat.
The decor is basic but very clean. Lots of posters and displays recommending the benefits of a vegetarian lifestyle. I was vegetarian for many years. It didn't seem to fill the void in my soul. It didn't increase it either. Maybe the lesson is that our happiness is our own responsibility, and can't be created by LinkedIn external factors.
H. B.
A great restaurant with lovely and very affordable food. A quite unique and extremely commendable ethical stance in relation to the environmental benefits of vegetarianism - I particularly liked the idea that free food is saved and given to the homeless.
Really good and relaxed atmosphere in a place that offers absolutely no pretension, just a great variety of 'all you can eat' food.
J. G.
Quality of service and hygiene can be better otherwise its good 👍
A.
all you can eat for £7.95! solid curries and a variety of rices and salads, definitely great value! BYOB too, although we always keep all our stomach space for the food ;) come hungry, leave happy!
O. P. -. S.
One of my favourite places to eat in London. I have been coming here for years! Food is always to a high standard, completely vegetarian (mostly vegan) and you will be spoilt for choice of dishes! Buffet style, very cheap and byob. A great service to the community for providing food for the homeless too. A lovely place, not to be missed!
R. S.
Great food 12 quid a buffet
G. L.
Had a very wholesome time. Open on New year's Day. Vegan options very clearly marked. Large range of hot curries and salads, coming out frequently. Fresh bread also came out frequently. Owner is very passionate and loved to serve you. You must come!
R. C.
My brother and I have been to this place three times already, and we've very much enjoyed it every time. It's astonishingly well-priced, with all-you-can-eat being £6.50 (!!!), and you get to bring your own drinks at no extra charge! Posters all over the establishment preach the word of veganism and vegetarianism from various interesting and many times humorous perspectives (sustainability being the most compelling, for us!). It has an authentic vibe, and a unique one compared to many other South Asian restaurants in the London area.
Speaking to the manager of the restaurant (who seems to be very dedicated to his enterprise, and is more than eager to spread the word about the benefits of vegetarianism), we were happily surprised to hear that Indian Veg provides food for the homeless for free, in a spirit of sharing with those less fortunate. We'd happily recommend this place!
(Expect a bit of a wait; with prices like these, the place is bound to be full!)
A. D. A.
I felt compelled to write this after a read a recent review. I was recommended this place this year. If the price went up (compared to previous years), then that unfortunately is normal. Everything goes up each year with inflation. The best compliment I could give to this place, is that the food is like my mum's cooking. Food is food but there is a wholesomeness about this place. The food is not salty as one person said- that is a lie. I go there every week. It is a fabulous establishment.
A. A.
A really nice place to buy food, especially if you love indian! If you do, and you like cooked meals, but don't want to cook now, it is definitely worth it. For 3 pounds you can get a small box to take-away, and the food was super hot and fresh, very tasty, good variety for vegetarians too. I will visit it again soon.
T. H.
Possibly one of the best restaurants in London, lots of different curries. Most of the food is vegan. Flavours are very authentic, would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a healthy satisfying meal. Eat as much as you like buffet will leave you full for the whole day. The snippets of newspaper articles about the health benefits of vegetarian diets provides some interesting reading and gives the place a unique feel.
X. M.
Value of money but taste very just ‘ok’
F. B.
Very very delicious food, great variety. Very good price all you can eat style. Kind staff. You can bring your own beer and wine. Amazing! My favorite in London!
J. H.
What an amazing Indian restaurant, being fully vegetarian is a great selling point and the food is to die for, we travel for nearly an hour by train just to come here. We have never been dissapointed and will keep going there for as long as we can! 5 stars all day everyday (ps they feed the homeless from the buffet aswell, the people who run it are just good human beings)
R. M.
Indian Veg is lovely all-you-can-eat restaurant which has a nice selection of dishes. You can bring along your own drinks but beverages are available to buy. The staff are nice and the service is really good. Indian Veg supports the homeless, by offering them free meals, you feel like you are supporting this wonderful establishment. The food is freshly prepared and mild.
J. J.
Very authentic Indian dishes, and very affordable.
20 min walk from Kings Cross Station
T. V. B.
Lovely food a real gem in the area
L. G.
Great cheap eats in a brilliantly eccentric place run by lovely people. Come for super cheap all-you-can-eat veg curry and plenty of amusing life advice from the ubiquitous posters - the toilet ones especially
E. M.
I love how many gluten free and vegan options there are. I could eat 90% of what was offered - and absolutely everything was veggie.
The decor was a bit confusing, but fun to look at! And the free refills and cheap price, and communal attitude really made the whole place.
A. M.
90% of the food is vegan. Very tasty and a reasonable selection to choose from. Nice decor and definite brownie points for BYOB. Good value at £8.95 for the buffet. Only downside is no fruit or vegan deserts
A. C.
Absolutely incredible vegetarian and vegan food - I’ll be bringing my colleagues here on our next night out! PS it’s bring your own booze! I’ll definitely be leaving a tip in the form of a donation for their homeless takeaway service!
£8 all you can eat, you can’t go wrong!
L. S.
£7.50 for all you can eat veg curry.. BYOB ..what’s not to like! Very simple decor but delicious food.. the walls are covered with hilarious sensationalised headlines about why vegetarians are great.. and from the food and the price here I can’t agree more! We stopped in here before heading down the road to the Bill Murray for some £5 comedy.. places like this remind you that you don’t have to be earning a ridiculous amount to enjoy London!
R. L.
This place kept me going when I 1st moved to London 25 years ago. All you can eat vegetarian buffet. Vegetarian propaganda all over the walls.
A. P.
1. Find out what's exactly available before getting a table, because they might not recook or replace stuff that's all taken, especially if you are a bit late.
2. Weird new buffet rule at this place which says that you can only use two plates and have to reuse old plates (not a big deal but that's just their rule which is different from other buffet rules).
3. Definitely a cost effective place.
4. I didn't find any dessert options which is also common for buffets to have.
D. B.
Just had a huge variety of vegan delicious food. The place is also very clean and full of nice posters with information about veggie diet etc. Not expensive at all. all you can eat! Lovely owner too. Definitely coming back!
B. D.
A real original, in an increasingly pretentious London dining scene. The buffet food selection is second to none of the average Indian restaurants and take aways anywhere in London, freshly cooked bread still warm being my favourite, and the drinks selection is just the best around. Healthy fruit juices from British farms, premium and regular fizzy drinks, freshly prepared vegan mango lassi, and a plump desserts list. The decor won't please if you're hankering after the sterile, hospital waiting room style that seems to be in favour among the crowds these days, it's a cross between a small family run eatery and a diner with walls completely plastered with vegan articles, trivia and dietary facts, on giant posters. I loved the ambiance and the truly diverse crowd, a real original and relaxed atmosphere.
N. N.
We were looking for a typical Londoner Indian all you can eat place except it had to serve vegan food. We found our dining place here and loved the food a lot. The people who run this place were very friendly toward us. We also find out that they serve homeless people for free during their opening times. which is something I want to support. a feature that is cool to mention is that it's a BYO place. where you are allowed to bring your own alcohol and drink it - free of charge.
we had a nice time there and will come back.
On a side note I want to mention that the location was a bit confusing as its walls were full with "vegetarian/health propaganda posters" of witch some looked a bit unreaserched saying things like "drinking cold water gives you cancer"
B. V.
Excellent place for vegetarian food in London. For a very nominal price they give a buffet with rice, poori, subzi and salads. I enjoyed the food here. A lot of information about food is pasted on the walls here. Certainly a hidden jem. Nothing great about the interior.. it is just good food! You could carry your own beer or wine resulting in saving compared to other restaurants. Definitely worth a visit.
J. M.
Good vegetarian food, all you can eat buffet for a very reasonable price. Interesting and informative reading about vegetarianism decorates the walls, and they give free food to the homeless. The buffet is not very extensive, but everything tastes great and the place has a friendly atmosphere.
N. H.
It may not have the nicest food or the cleanest location however Indian veg always has a key place in my heart. the over-the-top vegan propaganda is both endearing and startling at the same time. it is very well priced and I have always enjoyed my visit
M. M.
Ive been to Indian veg so many times and I love every visit! My favourite place in London 😊
J. K.
Lovely food at a great price and the messages on the walls are amusing, educational and generally uplifting. Just two reservations.. They only accept cash which is slightly annoying when I forget and have to go to the nearest cash machine (which charges). Also the owner/manager sometimes sits in the restaurant talking on his mobile at very high volume. Other than that, go and enjoy!
A. C.
Great Indian vegetarian street food buffet, limited selection of dishes but all very tasty. BYOB and good selection of soft drinks available. Quirky decor of newspaper style posters on the virtues of healthy eating. Friendly staff.
E. W.
Recent refurbished so feels a lot more clean and shiny.
All lovely hot foods and salads to stuff on. Mostly vegan too bar a paneer curry and a sauce. I am in love with the bread salad!simple, and filling with takeaway option too if you are on the go. Very kind owners.
All round great budget veggie option.
R.
Incredible. Very well known in the local area but I only tried it for the first time recently. Given how cheap it is I expected the food to be good, however it blew my mind. The flavours were amazing, selection was great and unlike your average Indian doesn't leave you feeling unwell after! Highly recommend.
A. B.
8.95pp all you can eat mixed indian buffet, would definitely go again, food was nice and vert filling. Not too oily and a good selection. Bring your own alcohol or buy there Lassy is about £3.00
T. W.
As always the food was good and the staff were very friendly. I love all the propaganda on the walls and have been coming here for years as I support their mission. There's always such a nice vibe at Indian veg and I look forward to my next visit
G. G.
Not bad, but not the most hygienic of places, in these troubled times. Buffet service, with everybody sharing the same long serving spoons. The food is good quality, not excellent. Some of it looked a bit tired.
P. A.
Tasty 100% meat-free Indian food, salads. Self-service buffet, cheap (flat rate for all you can eat). BYO beer/wine, non-alcoholic drinks available. Flies the flag for going forth from meat. Gives free meals to the homeless. A very worthy enterprise.
E. S.
Cheap, all you can eat vegetarian place, 80% of the food is vegan. Very tasty, go there hungry and you will enjoy even more. Great messages on the walls and you can also bring your own wine/beer to have it with your meal.
E. M.
I lived in London for 5 years and i ate at this restaurant basically every month or so. All you can eat, vegan curries and other Indian treats. SOOOOO delicious. lovely relaxed environment. friendly staff. if you are in London you must visit Indian veg. I cant recommend it enough.
M. Z.
Not necessarily somewhere I'd pick out myself but went with a friend and really enjoyed it. Food is delicious and it's not very busy during the day so you can find a corner to sit in and relax. The posters on the walls are good fun to read as well.
M. S.
Good food, cheap, BYOB
K. R.
Beautiful place with captions stating importance of spices and vegetarian food, little bit congested place but dinner was good and drinks like mango lassi tasted wonderful. A paradise for vegan & vegetarian for less price and in heart of London city. But some dishes were flawless and some dishes were not upto its mark. Food were bit oily and service of the staff were bit less as place is congested and in an top location.
W. M.
Absolutely iconic. Everything - the lovely owner, the food, the interior, the cucumber-themed cups.
S. M.
Vegan and vegetarian Indian place. Buffet style service but don't be put off, the salads are incredible (try cabbage and beetroot). Favourites are the mash potato dish and the flavourful dal. Staff are calm and courteous.
S. B.
I always leave this place feeling full and happy.
R. M.
This place is an absolute winner. My boyfriend recommended going after seeing it in London's Top 10 Cheap Eats. The food is really authentic, not too greasy and a good selection of dishes to choose from. On top of being an absolute bargain, it's BYO. The owner was an absolute gem too. All in all a great experience, I'll definitely be making another visit.
K.
This is the best vegetarian restaurant I've found and one of my favorite meals in London ever. The value is amazing and I left full and happy. The manager also paid me an unexpected act of kindness that really touched me. This is a special, joyful place with a great mission and I will be back.
E. W. (.
Tastiest veg curry in London. Makes you feel that not eating meat is a treat and a privilege. Always a choice of 3-4 different rices, sauces, nibbles and salads.
Great takeaway box for £4 as well
S. V.
One of the best Indian restaurants in London. Great food selection at a great price. The restaurant gives takeaway meals to homeless people for free so you can feel good supporting this establishment.
L. S.
It's so rare to find a place as reasonable as this nowadays...
T. R.
A great experience! Relaxed, welcoming atmosphere. It seemed like the other customers were content regulars. We had great fun reading all the posters on the walls while trying to eat as much as we could.
M. S. W.
An excellent and established all you can eat Indian vegetarian restaurant. The dhal is particularly good and all dishes on offer were great. The atmosphere is also nice and prices are very decent
N. P.
I very been going since it opened about 25 years ago. A good variety of food and all you can eat. You can bring your own alcohol and there is no corkage charge. On the last visit we both thought the food was even better. Only downside was(new) large posters about the 'obesity epidemic' and staying slim these joined the inspirational quotes from the likes of Ghandi and Einstein 'animals are our little brothers and sisters' and factual information about nutrition of plants as opposed to animals. I felt these new posters somewhat spoilt the ambience. However I would highly recommend this place which also provides free meals to the homeless.
M. S.
Was very surprised by this place, truly amazing quality of veggie food especially coming from someone who go waggamamma's🤐🤐🤣🤣🤣🤣.
Enjoyed thoroughly 🍻🍺🥃👍🏿💯
J. H.
Love this place! No frills, good quality food made with love. Absolute bargain! Humbled by their generosity and kindness for offering free meals for the homeless.
E. O.
This (North) Indian buffet for £5 (£4.95 when writing this) is really good value for money. No much choice but tasty, well prepared, healthy veggie main dishes (you can always avoid the fried stuff). If on a shoestring budget, you can drink cold tap water, or bring your own drink, including alcohol, for free. The chaps attending you are always polite and friendly.
The environment/décor is a bit surreal (thus the 'very good' mark) but I would say: their heart is in the right place. Interestingly, it is run by Muslims (Pakistani or Bangladeshi, I can't remember), and that makes the ethos of the place all more unique.
I've been eating there regularly with friends for the last seven or eight years, and the feeling afterwards is always good, so I can safely say it is a place where food is prepared with care and to good standards.
I gave the 'excellent' mark because they really offer a decent, home-made meal for a very reasonable price. Terrible cooks, like myself, appreciate the chance of eating well and affordably as often as we need! ;-)
R. M.
All-you-can-eat vegetarian buffet. The food is good and prices fairly reasonable but it faces very stiff competition from the likes of Chutneys in Drummond Street, where although busier, has a wider variety of dishes and more attentive service. Given a straight choice I would head to Chutneys instead.
S. H.
Interesting local feel restaurant with good range of veg curries etc. Relaxed casual atmosphere...no real interaction with staff other than paying..just get on and eat all you can. Atc £10 for lunch with drink..feels better value to get the takeaway option.
E. F.
I love this place because the food is tasty, it’s low key and it has a very authentic vibe.
L. D.
Wonderful, I live in Dorset but make sure every trip to London includes this restaurant.
The meal is the message.
It says so much, food and philosophy at a bargain price, not to be missed if you care about the planet and enjoy Indian food!!!!
M. B.
Very good quality veg food.
L. P.
Amazing! Cheap and eat as much as you want for a cheap price, as well as bring your own bottle! Owners are also very friendly and warm. One of my favourite places!
s. s.
It is impossible not to love this place, for the food, the ethos, the atmosphere and the sheer wackiness of the 'decor'
S. H.
Enjoyed a lovely family meal in here. Cheap, cheerful with a good atmosphere. We bought our own bottle of wine and we all said we'd go back again! Highly recommended
A.
A brilliant veggie place; loads of options, take away is £4 for small and £6 for large. Eat in is £7.95. Go there, you won’t regret it!
s.
I was looking for a good but cheap vegetarian place when I stumbled onto this restaurant. The reviews said it was £4.95 for all you can eat, which would have made it 4* but the price had gone up to £7.95 and with the quality of the food it brings it down 3*.
K. P.
Indian Veg isn't a fancy restaurant, the food is nothing near a new experience, but it is good. Indian Veg is exactly what it pretends to be. A vegetarian activist place which serve good all-you-can-eat buffet for a cheap price.
I believe that this place is a gem by its concept more than the quality of what it serves.
R. C.
Food was good with flavours similar to those found in home cooking, only not as hot. The service was exceptional and the staff and owner very friendly and accommodating. Finally, the price was unbeatable. Highly recommend.
T. H.
Stumbled upon this place whilst looking for food before a train. It's really nice and quirky and great value plus they help to feed the homeless too. Highly recommended
O. A.
Amazing food. 95% Vegan clearly labeled Buffet. Decor is a bit preachy, even for a vegan like me but, there is some cool info there and the food is spectacular and is more than worth the money!
Z. M.
absolutely delicious! many curries on offer, great flavors and would highly recommend to anyone looking for some amazing veg food at a great price in London.
M. M.
My favourite place to eat in London, if not the world! Always the same, seems unchanged since I first visited in 1991. The food is consistently tasty and the service extremely relaxed.
M. D.
Great value. Simple but fun decor. Cafe vibe. Curries really tasty but some quite oily and rich so don't overdo it, which is the temptation. Staff really nice and friendly
J. W.
Food is outstanding, quick (buffet), varied.
So much info on the walls
I also lost my phone that evening and whilst it wasn't found immediately I did get a call a couple of days later: I knew if I had left it there , they would 100% contact me- I find the staff and vibe here really true and basically excellent.
6 ******
Oh and it's cheap and BYO!
H. W.
Really cool concept, highly recommend all you can eat Indian buffet. We've been a few times and the good is delicious.
N.
Really good place to come and eat before going out and getting a bit wonky. Food is cheap for as much as you can eat. Not the best Indian food ever but hits the spot and the owners are really kind, let you bring your own 6 packs!
S. S.
A place you have to eat in if your in Islington!
J. J.
Very basic venue, service was nothing to write home about but the food was really nice. A good selection of different dishes (bread salad was great!) and all pretty cheap as well. I'd definitely go back if I was in the area again.
N. W.
Not too bad, good options at the buffet. The pseudo science plastered all over the walls provided some great entertainment as well. Probably won't go back, but that's just because it wasn't all that special.
L. F.
Buffet food all you can eat, spicy, tasty and last but not sure the least Healty food!
The place may not look the best but if you are looking for a great meal your belly will be thankful for just go!
M. H.
Great food and as much as you can eat for only £7! Very helpful staff who charged my phone for me too. They give free food to homeless people and for this reason alone I’d want to support them. Luckily the food is great so it’s certainly no hardship to visit this place again!
T. A.
Been going here too long to admit to. I remember when the buffet was £2.75. still really good value and same owner who is adorable
J. O.
They have a cool BYOB policy and are fully vegetarian. The food quality is quite good, but it could be better. However, the prices are excellent.
t.
Always a massive variety of tasty Indian food, great price, friendly staff, slightly overbearing veggie propaganda on the walls (grin) and a very full belly when you leave. What's not to love?
C. C.
Great value food and calming atmosphere
O. M.
Buffet on a budget! Staff conversational and welcoming, great atmosphere and kooky decor! Food somewhat mild but chilli powder provided on tables, more selection at Chutneys though
C. C.
Pretty damned good, this place. Buffets are always a bit risky so perhaps we got lucky. Tasty, varied dishes. The beetroot salad was excellent
D. A.
Cheap & delicious foods if you love Indian foods. Vegetarian. But needs some smiles
D. B.
BYOB! They serve drinks too. All you can eat vegan and vegetarian for £8. Must! Come for the Puris and daal, paneer and bhajis. Real Indians eat here, but there is a multicultural and diverse crowd of both business and leisure. Look out for the Kareena Kapoor, Rani Mukherji and Priyanka Chopra posters hidden between the benefits of vegetarianism displayed on the walls. Love it.
J.
Lots of Vegan options. Genuine kindness and care shown by the staff for the homeless and vulnerable. Great food, especially for the price. A cruelty free treat.
N. R.
Been going here for years and love the place. reasonably priced eat as much as you like all vegetarian buffet mostly vegan too.
S. E.
First time eating here for a few years. Good as ever with a varied vegetarian menu. My only complaint is that the bhajis and pakora weren't hot.
W. A.
My new GO TO place. Incredible food for a generous price AND they give to the homeless/donate to charity.
A. B.
Good food, all you can eat buffet Indian dishes. Decor is a little odd but you get to bring your own bottle so a great bonus.
P. R.
This always causes me to be happy.
B. F.
Loving this hidden gem in Angel. All you can eat vegetarian buffet with friendly smiles. They also feed homeless people for free all day. Amazing.
A. P.
I love Indian Veg. It is the ideal place to visit for cheap curry with added vegetarian propaganda. It provides a delicious meal with information and entertainment. The soft drinks selection is fantastic, including the lassis. The best food items are the dals and the puris.
a. p.
Amazing place. How can a social business be located so well in the centrum of London? I don't know, but it surely makes me really happy. I will be back again !
r.
Delicious food and great times to be had in this delicious place.
D. L.
I love the salad bar! - tasty, healthy and fantastic value! -Also homeless people csn eat here free at any time.
J. P.
Relaxed atmosphere, good vegetarian food. Price has gone up to £7.95 after a refurb but still bring your own beers and the same quality of food!
V. P.
Great food, great prices,
Defo worth a visit.
s. c.
This place is brilliant. Especially love the decor. You must come here!!!
S. V.
Great place for homemade, vegetarian Indian food. I always feel the need to lunch there if I’m on the area. Love this place!

I’m from Newcastle never liked London too expensive miserable people only go when I have to.
I went to this place and it changed my perception of all that and shall go back every time I pass through London. Been vegetarian for 12 years and vegan for 6. Favorite vegetarian restaurant I have ever been to.
S.
The food is ok but cheap and the place is worth seeing, quite a nice environment to eat in. Would recommend going for lunch as the food (a buffet) is fresher than for dinner.
M. L.
Amazing quality of food, worth much more than the price you pay! you can also bring your own alcohol if you would like, which is always a plus
J.
Bargain vegetarian Indian food and BYOB - all you can eat for £7.95 and it’s nice for that price. Very casual and unpretentious place.
I. F.
Great value and fantastic food
m. b.
Food is delicious! O lot of interesting facts you can read on the walls :) they could improve a little on cleaning though.
M. S.
Cheap Indian unlimited food in London but still i would say to avoid. If you get a chance to visit Leicester, try Shivali there much better for the same price.
A. R.
By far the best Indian vegetarian restaurant I have eaten at, in London. Home cooked, low oil food. The owner Safa, is a great and grounded guy.
m. s.
Excellent vegetarian and vegan food with a wide range of soft drinks - plus you can bring your own alcohol (I don't think they charge for corkage?).
J. W.
Delicious food, lots of choice. Very friendly staff.
L. S.
Surprisingly fresh, tasty and generous in terms of buffet !
R. S.
Extremely deliciously food, very clean all around.
J. T.
Serve yourself, eat as much as you want. No frills, food isn't the most amazing but you can eat as much as you like and it ain't expensive. Certainly worth a visit, the place is a historical monument/cultural icon.
L. S.
This is my favorite place in London for good quality, healthy, wholesome vegan food. The staff are friendly and the food is delicious and authentic!
D. L.
Venerable Islington institution serving up a tasty vegetarian buffet at amazingly low prices. The décor - every wall surface filled with vegetarian propaganda - is a quirky delight.
r. s.
Curries and salad are good and so many options..Tried mango shake it was good..Indian taste..opened 12 to 11.30 every day and tgey have so many foos studies, health benefits quotes on walls which is unique..
S. M.
The food was seriously Good! Honestly surprised with the choice quality and price. Would definitely recommend.
Chapel markers hidden gem!
W. W.
Good, healthy cheap food and they give free takeaway to the homeless
S. N.
I don't usually eat here, but for ppl who like Indian food it's pretty good u can have as many food refills as you want and not expensive at all
G. B.
Great atmosphere, great unlimited food buffet style and really cheap. The staff is very friendly. Definitely go check it out.
T.
Really great food as usual. Buffet had some new curries for a change. Few flies in restaurant but not expecting a gourmet experience anyway!
S. P.
Love this place and can't wait to go back. Incredibly cheap, delicious and healthy food with great variety - all you can eat for £6.50!
M. P.
Delicious, cheap, vegetarian, ethical, a lot of things to read on the walls and friendly ppl coming to relax and enjoy the food.
Don't hesitate to try this place out.
N. G.
This is all u can eat veggie restaurant
Has been here since the 70 s also does vegan food .
Great place to meet your family and friends.and you can drink alcohol corkage charge .
Bloody brilliant
j. s.
The owner is a delight and the ambience good. The Staff have an agressive manner (no smiles, or hellos or goodbyes and hard to get their attention when required) i expect that at the very least!
A. H.
One of my favourites in London, if not THE favourite. I miss going there; used to live next door so I’d go at least once a week....
F. F.
I love this place, the food is great, it's cheap they collect for charities and there's decades years old propaganda on all the walls. Bizarre but perfect.
M. x.
Yummy food for a good price. Drinks in the fridge are expensive and warm. Could be more clean and the walls are plastered with posters with poor grammar. Staff are not friendly.
L.
Really good food, I am not vegetarian but there is a lot of choice, fresh, spicy, sweet, mild! I am definitely going back !! All of this for a very low price !
R. T.
Vegetarian, Indian and All You Can Eat. What needs explaining beyond that!?
Ok fine, the food was great, lovely atmosphere, relaxed, cheap, and feeding the homeless!
i. w.
Wowcha! Wonderful little humble restaurant, perfect stop anytime. Priced cheep and a yumyumyum selection of food! Would deffo recommend, and is nice to see a non pretence oust vegetarian foodspace
J. H.
Friendly place with a good-for-the-price range of vegetarian and vegan food. Great lassi. Unusual restaurant that's well worth a visit.
S. H.
If only the curry dishes didn't all look the same. They should do more variety for 5 stars. Puri's were great!
V. P.
Soo good to eat here! The owner is very friendly. Here you go home like Buddha and you wake up like Gandhi! 5 star! Go Vegan!
W. B.
Very tasty and fresh eat as much as you wish (buffet) good price too
R. S.
authentic Indian food, friendly family run business. Surroundings are unusual and make for amusing reading while you eat
A. P.
Been going to this place for years. Prices moving up a little but still the best, and best value, Indian vegetarian food in London.
M. W.
I have been coming here 20 years. It used to be cheaper .... it used to be a fill up point for students and low income folk...I still love it but would be even better at £4.50 per visit.
c. .. s. s. h.
Food was good! But as i went around 10:30pm the rice was all hardened up! But the taste of the curries wer good & choice is also big! Pocket friendly
R. P.
First time visit and I will return. Clean and clearly labelled food with plenty of reading material on the walls to keep you entertained!
E. H.
So many options for vegans I cannot even... Price has gone up nearly two fold since I was there the first time in 2010, but still one of the cheapest options for a well satiating meal!
S. K.
Wonderful warm and delicious food. My comfort food in London.
K. P.
Lovely food, come here especially every time I visit London. It is my brothers favourite restaurant :).

M. R.
Can't beat this humble veggie buffet. Its byo now too. Lovely people who are so genuine about their food and philosophy. Rare find !
J. M.
Delicious vegan Dinner. This restaurant has a great selection of gluten free and vegan food. I am one very happy celiac.
P. P.
It's worth to try once because of the militant vegetarian decoration. Food is not so great, buffet style, kept warm for too long.
B. H.
It's a good place for a filling vegetarian meal, refill your plates if you want at no extra cost . Amusing posters on the walls . Nothing fancy, just good and filling
J. H.
Great selection of vegetarian Indian food, all you can eat for £7.95 , friendly staff, its most certainly my favourite place to eat.

Cheap, quite tasty. Very good meal and interesteing surroundings. Would go again.
C. B.
Even though I don't like spicy food, even with all-you-can-eat, I found plenty of very tasty options to keep me interested. Will definitely be back.
V.
Cheap vegetarian/vegan food, warm on the cold side but overall nice. I loved the cabbage and mango salad.
S. L.
Very good value indian veggie restaurant. You can bring your own bottle on top of that and you haven have a decent choice of dish.
H. R.
My friend was added to the Greatest Vegetarians of the century this night. What an achievement from a man who can't even handle a balti.
A. B.
Great curry, so cheap, very quirky, totally veggie and they do good too. 100% recommended.
Y. E.

Delicious and cheap vegan food :) Only two things had milk and it was properly shown in the labels. 100% recommended
S. W.
Good selection. They use sunflower oil instead of the KTC gmo soybean oil that most other places in London use
L. B. V.
Love this place - my favourite London cheap/quick eat. Amazing food, mad signage on the walls, what's not to like?!
j. w.

Delicious, cheap and informative. The over the top claims of the benefits of vegetarianism were delightful and entertaining.

An institution. If you're vegan or veggie, or even if you're not, your taste buds will thank you. Even the vegetable-based propaganda on the walls is great.
J. H.
Enjoy the tasty buffet while you digest the propaganda.
N. M.
Great curry if you're on a budget and don't need meat. BYOB is a bonus.

Reasonably priced vegetarian food and BYOB, only complaint is the onion bhaji - possible to make them less oily?

Standard menu. For us Indians, the delicious dhal-chaval and poori with potato is a sight to behold.
