Reviews of Italo
R. G.
Adorable little neighborhood cafe across the street from a garden. A perfect place for a relaxed sandwich and coffee.
N.
Great little cafe, service was good and the food really hit the spot after a long night. I would definitely recommend their baked goods!
M. O.
Nice little cafe in a lovely street. Lots of outdoor seating so good place to go for lunch during the summer. Food is a tad expensive for what you get but good nevertheless.
R. L.
Bonnington Square is a special place, one of the very few parts of central London untouched by the zombie plague of chain shops and gentrification. Italo is a wonderful place for brunch, coffee or to pick up delicious treats to take home. You need it in your life.
M. A.
I love Italo, it is a hidden gem in the area (although its popularity in warm weather suggests otherwise). The coffee is lovely, and they have a great selection of veg and long-life food at affordable prices. Worth a trip for anyone coming through!
B. B.
Makes busy Vauxhall feel like living in a small community. Love bringing friends here when they come to visit, also very handy for milk / an onion / olive oil when we realise last minute we've run out. The menu varies regularly and there's always something new to try. Delicious coffee.
P. B.
Italo is a delightful deli and without doubt the best lunch in Vauxhall. It’s just a shame it’s taken me this long to find it
J. R.
Gorgeous hidden little gem off the beaten path. Good coffee and nice service
P. S. Z.
An authentic place with delicious food, good service and awesome mood. Definitely worth the visit. In breakfast, try the Pancetta & Egg sandwich: It's delicious!!!
R. T.
Nice old school cafe, very simple menu. I had the pancetta and egg roll. Really nice crusty bread. Little gem in Vauxhall. 👌🏽
C. A.
Hidden gem with superb coffee and great freshly prepared lunches
H. H.
Tasty food, gorgeous setting on a cute little back street by a garden and such a lovely atmosphere created by the staff (especially Otis, thank you!)
M. L.
Tasty. Friendly. Nice community. Can't ask for more from a local cafe.
T. R.
Just the best. Wonderful inspirational quality artisan ingredients. Incredible coffees. A community hub. Pop ups. Truly THE Best corner store in the UK.
T. G.
Get there early for weekend breakfast.
Stopped going in 2020 I was charged £8 for a sandwich. Still love the vibe but I can’t stomach those prices !
P. M.
Adorable little Italian deli and coffee shop! They have loads of sandwiches, omelets and little daily specials if you’re looking for a cute brunch. The food is definitely on the lighter side. Their coffee was great! We also loved the ambiance.
N. u.
Really lovely place to go in Vauxhall - especially for a break from work
T. L.
Wonderful fresh deli sandwiches, cheese, wine, fresh produce and Charlie is lovely. Also a great secret garden across the street, or seating outside the shop. Highly recommend.
L. F.
It’s doesn’t really matter what you order here because everything is good!
j. g.
Completely altered my worldview on what bread you should use for an egg and bacon sandwich!
A happy cafe.
K.
The crew here are doing takeout lunches at the moment (during covid restrictions) . They are making the best deli sandwiches (ciabatta bread) I’ve ever eaten.
Well worth a visit .
There are tables and chairs where you can eat outside by the Bonnington Square community garden.
Magic place - hidden away from the bustle of Vauxhall.
Thanks Italo! .
L. E.
Lovely coffee and I had a nice sandwich here too. The pasta is nice, all the food I've had is simple and tasty, the way it should be. Price is good too. It is very small! It's not easy to find a seat some times. It's an interesting little place and I'll be back for sure
K. S.
Wonderful experience. A little bit of normality in an oasis. Caring staff , good masks and sanitizer, tables well separated. Lovely
S. M.
The best kept neighborhood secret. An utterly charming little café tucked away on the charming Bonnington Square. The concise menu changes from day to day and there's always a delightful seasonal dish to discover. Great coffee, a selection of sandwiches and a small selection of deli/grocery items round out the offering.
R. C.
We stumbled across this whilst wandering around and now take people there when they come to visit. It's in a beautiful spot and feels well away from the bustle of the street just a few hundred metres away. The breakfast is delicious and just thinking about the bread is making my mouth water. Oh great coffee too.
A. A. D. H.
Great coffee and a lovely surrounding.
V. H.
Great little café sharing quality sourced and cooked Italian and French products with their surrounding community. Brilliant service always efficient and with a smile. Nice location in a quiet part of Vauxhall near gardens and with cool small terrace. I'm highly recommending this great café.
B. L.
My new favourite spot in Vauxhall - an absolute gem! Super local, super good food, reasonable prices but really just the quality and atmosphere is unbeatable. Bonnington Square is also lovely. If you are in the area really recommended!
f. s.
One of the things I miss most about living in the area. An early morning breakfast at Italo sitting outside in the sun during spring just makes your life better. Although you should go at any time of the year. They serve great food and coffee, the staff is nice and the location is unbeatable.
H. M.
It's a wonderful, little quaint cafè. The food is great. The atmosphere is consuming. From the moment you walk in, you forget about the craziness of London outside this little place. Their coffee is delicious, personally roasted by owner Charlie. You really feel at home here. Don't be in a rush though.
Go, take a book. Order a coffee and relax. Easily one of my favorite cafes in London (if not the favourite).
J. S.
Love coming to Italo for a coffee and pastry. Really nice coffee and such a nice family feel.
A. M.
Great deli, with wonderful food and coffee. However it’s very expensive: £9/£10 for a focaccia sandwich!
D. M.
Brilliant independent cafe / deli selling quality produce and serving great breakfasts. Don't think I've had better bacon anywhere. A proper local institution full of regulars, but very welcoming to all!
P. R.
My absolutely favourite place in London. Perfect and fairly priced coffee (Coleman), freshly prepared lunch every day and carefully hand-picked delicatessen. Also, beautiful breakfast! Within the very beautiful and calm Bonnington Square. Charlie's (the owner) charm will make your day. Now Italo has a piazza outside and is open during the weekends. Don't miss it!
R. D.
The coffee is superb, and the food is just great. The "Full Italo" breakfast is delicious (although a bit pricey for the amount of food). I've had their sandwiches too and they are amazing.
M. S.
Sandwiches and pastries were exceptional. They are opposite to a lovely little garden, great for a lunch.
m. s.
Amazing little Italian in the back streets of Vauxhall. Great community feel and amazing food. The linguine and gazpacho were truly some of the best I've had, even compared to top Italian restaurants in London. A great little park opposite where you can eat and relax in the sun as well!
A. B.
So happy to have discovered this neighbourhood gem tucked away in Bonnington Square, 5-10 mins from Vauxhall station. Had an excellent ham, cheese & pesto sandwich, and later ricotta & cherry ice-cream. Everything is either freshly made, or supplied from farms/independent retailers/small businesses. I was on a day off and so enjoyed a Campari spritz! Very stylish decor inside, but outside, when sunny, one can sit outside and watch the world go by. Very friendly service; the owner was evidently very passionate about the business. This is probably one of the best finds in London.
N. B.
Excellent food, reasonable prices beautiful location. It's a great place for lunch, a coffee or for picking up speciality ingredients.
Quite pricey, but you pay for what you get. Good olive oil, great produce, a deli counter, nice pastries. You can get nice bread too. At the time of writing they were stocking BreadBread bakery produce. This is a local favourite of mine for sure, I go as often as I can.
D. g.
Grate place for lunch and or a good cup of coffe
J. C.
Lovely atmosphere and tasty food. I wish i could live around.
G. P.
A hidden gem very close to Vauxhall station, serving fresh, good quality food with original associations. Very different vibes from the hustle and bustle of the center, this small café/ deli faces a very green square garden to add a plus to the Italian delicatessen they serve.
K. B.
Amazing little cafe. Small selection of delicious foods - beetroot and ginger soup, marinated eggplant, cous cous salad, ham off the bone and good coffee. Very cute. Good coffee is quite the find for an Aussie in London!
T. A.
A park, a quiet, quasi-pedestrian street and a deli-come-italian bistro with delightful food and amazing service, can't ask for more.
Italo may be slightly out of the way, but that's how the locals like it. The food is varied, with a great selection of cheeses and charcuterie as well as good coffee and tea. The staff is warm and cozy and some of the pasta dishes are sublime.
Go on a clear day and sit in the park across, they will even serve you there.
J. D.
So good! Terrific food, well cooked in no nonsense, friendly atmosphere. Staff very friendly. Kernal Brewery pale ale and pesto pasta! What's not to like!
J. M.
I love this unusual cafe. The atmosphere is friendly, casual and the food is great and relatively cheap. Not much seating inside so try to come on a dry day!
F. H.
Great place to stop by: delicious food, friendly staff and tucked away in a lovely hidden square
A. C.
Cute little cafe in Bonnington. There's a small selection of fruit, veg and bread. The cafe menu changes daily and is posted on social media. Don't miss the ice cream on hot summer days!
A. M.
Great place and awesome food. A shame some of the service personnel is rude. One lady repetitively ignored us and definitely doesn't know how to treat people. I'm reconsidering going there more often because of it. After all we pay for a complete package, not just the food.
E. S.
This restaurant is popular among locals.
R. T.
We stopped here for a delicious lunch - everything was made with care and skill and it showed. I had a great lasagne with a fresh salad and my husband loved his lamb ciabatta. The coffee was some of the best I've ever had, and I'm a coffee fanatic, so I bought some to take away! the cafe is in a beautiful location and has a relaxing feel.
Just one thing..I left my favourite jumper behind.....grrrr. Will ring you guys!
Thank you!
g.
I don’t work here or know anyone who does before you read this!
This is without question the best cooked breakfast for £10 you will ever get.
If you go here 100% get the cooked breakfast, actually cannot get over how unbelievably good it is.
The staff are also lovely.
O. N.
Local cafe full of friendly vibes, tasty quality food & bohemian style. Love it.
S. G.
Coffee was delicious, will be back definitely to try some of that fritatta and pastries.
v.
Nice place, amazing in summer time. Love the area, great service. Local food shop. Please support it if you local, buy more food. Good atmosphere, very very friendly independent people work there.⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Y. P.
Very high quality breakfast & sandwiches at this quirky authentic local hipster deli.
Service is sometimes all over the place, but friendly always.
A great community gem.
L. W.
Great latte (with oat milk) from this place and a nice quaint park opposite to sit and enjoy it too
D. W.
Great cafe. In a beautiful, quite spot. Amazing range of Italian goods.
d. o.
Amazing restaurant - have lived here for one year and every day its full with people passing the day eating delicious italian food and drinking some delicious coffees. Really helpful staff. Warm and welcoming. Have met friends here, been on a date and spent the evening watching the sun go down. LOVE IT xlu
C. V.
I absolutely love this place, they have excellent quality produce, speciality ingredients, cold meats cut to order, a delicious specials menu that changes every day, but most importantly, super friendly and personalised attention from Charlie, Jake and all their staff. What else can you ask for? Italo is a gem and a 10/10 for me!
G. Q.
Good local place for breakfast and lunch. Details of menu items can be a bit obscure at times with not much detail. Good for dine-in but this doesn’t seem to be fantastic for takeaway (just my opinion).
G. L.
Favorite local brunch spot. Family managed, amazing food and coffee, with some of the best Italian products to buy! Support local, come to Italo!
R. v. E.
Very authentic Italian deli with a wide range of fresh food and great knowledge behind the counter. There is even the great option of hot food to take out for breakfast, lunch and dinner for those days when you dont feel like cooking!
M. D.
This place just brings the whole community together. Delicious food - a must visit.
H. P.
Best home cooked food you will get. Great atomosphere. Situated in a very green beautiful square. Staff and the residents are super friendly.
N. S.
A taste of italy in Vauxhall this place is so wonderful I've skived work on three occasions to try and be first in line for one of their daily specials. Also purveyors of a weekend sausage and bacon ciabatta capable of dispatching even the most worthy hangover.
N. P.
One of my favourite and very much missed places in London, a hidden gem. It is just great! Thank you Charlie.
k. m.
Shop owner is a legend! Really friendly and welcoming. Staff are decent. Food is good need to bring back the pizza squares
M.
The most amazing cheese pastry.
C. T.
Great local deli, lovely people and high quality food
D. C.
A friendly cafe, open for takeaways, with picnic tables outside for safe and socially distanced coffees
M. M.
Italo is fabulous! My go-to place for lunch for last 2 years. There is nothing comparable around vauxhall, unless you want to get bored to death by Pret.
L. L.
Good teamwork, very nice people, Respect the rules of the government, inside the very clean shop, you can eat and drink good.
Y. Y.
I can say perfect and fantastic place in Vauxhall.
Food is delicious, atmosphere is great in sunny day and staffs are also very kind. I highly recommend to go here.
J. G. (.
Very nice choice of italian food. Quiet place and beautiful shop (feels like being in Italy). Very interesting how the staff prepares dishes following a real italian style.
G. L.
Great products, chilled atmosphere. Highly recommend
J. L.
tucked in a quiet residential street just feet away from the bustle of vauxhall station you'll find this unassuming deli. There's a very homely friendly vibe and there's usually at least one local resident in there hanging out. Check their twitter feed @ItaloDeli for daily menus and don't get there too late or all the best stuff will be gone!
T. S. L.
When a cafe-cum-deli’s staff welcomes each customer by name you know you’ve found a right gem, and thus is the case with Italo* found on the corner of Oval’s charming Bonnington Square. Owned and run by Charlie, alongside his friend Jake, this cosy spot is perfect when you want a friendly escape or you need to do part of your weekly shop. Rest assured the veg on sale, delivered from New Covent Garden market, is actually cheaper than the supermarket, and the quality breads delivered from the Old Post Office bakery will soon become a firm favourite.

J. C.
Simple delicious food. Ultra friendly vibe and in the corner of one of the best squares in London
L. N.
A bizarre place, with an Italian name and selling Italian products (quite expensive though), but preparing non-Italian food. Very good quality
M. C.
Excellent deli with an amazing selection of quality ingredients. Come early weekend mornings for a really good cooked breakfast.
S. L.

M. G.
Excellent food in lovely village shop atmosphere served by very friendly and knowledgable staff - more than worth the 5 minutes from the chains near the station!
M. M.
A lovely hidden gem, with really cute owners. Not always space to sit down, so they have take-away as well.

(Translated) In the corner of the house in the quiet lane, there are lovely grandmothers, lovely clerk :) There are lovely tables and food, although the store is very small, but it is definitely the best restaurant in London.
