Reviews of Kanada-Ya
M. A.
Went for Sunday lunch around 2pm. Was expecting a huge queue but surprisingly the place was empty. Had a regular Tonkotsu ramen, which was ok. Karaage was overcooked, but gyoza was nice. Matcha Mille crepe was AMAZING! £71 total for 2 starters, 2 ramen and 1 dessert.
B. B.
Food and service were very good. Ramen and Nigiri both very tasty. Also enjoyed the rice. Food was very quick to be served. The only reason I’m giving 4 stars is there were very limited vegan options.
Considering what’s happening in the world now (climate change) and the increased awareness about animal cruelty and worsening numbers in terms of lifestyle and diet-related diseases - Restaurants who want to continue thriving and who truly care not just about taste but also about community, health and our planet - should adapt more vegan / plant-based options.

Loved the ramen. You can choose how you want your noodles cooked. Everything tastes just right but the broth is what makes the difference. Delicious. Starters were also good and the matcha fondant was a must if you like matcha. And the best thing? Really good price for London.
B. C.
The food and service here is excellent. The pork gyoza were so tasty! We devoured the Spicy Yuzu and Gekikara which were both delicious. The peach sake is dangerously smooth.. be warned! Matcha Fondant was an excellent finish to a wonderful dining experience. We highly recommend dining here and we will definitely return!

Turn over of customers was quick even if there was no reservations. Food was quick and has an amazing rich flavour esp the ramen. Staff was helpful and very approachable.

Their Tonkotsu X is so delicious you’ll keep on wanting more! The broth is so rich and creamy! The egg (had to pay extra £2) was an absolute delight to my taste buds! Worth the extra £2!!! They could improve their place by having more capacitybu overall experience is 5/5!
H. T.
I had the vegetarian ramen, my husband had the bone broth with truffle. Both dishes were just what we wanted - warming, hearty, and delicious. It was my first time there and it won't be my last.
H. C. (.
The soup base is very thick and nice but a bit salty. Cha siu is decent but a bit dry. Extra egg again is nice but 2 quid! The karaage is nice and more reasonably priced. Will visit again.
B. N.
Delicious Tokyo style ramen with thin noodles. I ordered Tonkotsu X with eggs. The broth is perfect and not too salty. I have my noodle soft and it was still not to my liking. Service charge is too high. Overall great place for a ramen lover. I like it as much as Shoryu.
E. A.
Went there during busy hours. The wait is WORTH IT!!! The food is great.UMAMI😋
Limited vegan choices but still satisfies the palate.
A. P.
Had some startes and a ramen. Food was great, the broth of the ramen was very delicious. Dessert was also good.
The decor was a bit boring, considering how great the food was. The staff was somewhat rude. As they were taking our order, they asked the table next to us to be quiet, otherwise they couldn't take our order.
H. M.
This particular branch was having a training day when we went so I cannot rate the overall staff quality but they were lovely and presentable. I hope all of them are still there on my next visit. Now to the food! Once you have the ramen, you will never look at wagamama or kokoro the same way again. Their tea stained egg is worth the extra cost so when you go? Be prepared for an adventure into what some flavourful ramen tastes like!
G.
We ordered Chashu-men and Spicy Yuzu for dinner. The taste was good but personally Spicy Yuzu was a bit spicy.
considering to the price, the boiled eggs and the seaweed should be included without extra fee.
L.
Best ramen place at London. Highly recommend Tonkotsu (original) with eggs and hard (or extra hard) noodles
Ordered extra Kaedama - unhappy about this as the noodles are stick together
K. Z.
Serving the hottest, sexiest noods London has to offer. Each bite is bursting with flavour, tantalising your taste buds, leaving you planning your next visit before you've even left the premises.
Don't let the short queue to get a seat during peak periods put you off, as what awaits for you inside is more than worth the wait.
My personal recommendation is the spicy gekikara with hard noods. A delicious blend of Kanada-Ya's signature pork and corn fed chicken bone broth served with melt in your mouth chashu pork belly and spicy ‘tan-tan’ minced pork that adds an extra layer of flavour and texture to the beautiful broth. Don't forget to add a succulent, rich and jammy tamago to get the most out of your meal.
J. P.
Strong ramen choice - one notch up from Shoryu
Very good, deep, rich broth; delicious pork chashu and Hanjuku Egg (chashu cured clarence court egg). The spicy yuzu ramen is very well balanced.
Very good service. Trendy crowd of connoisseurs, with a few Japanese business men on business trips.
D. S.
One of the best Tonkotsu ramen in London for sure!
The broth is thick yet smooth down your throat! Not too hot to burn your tongue yet it's hot enough until your last slurp of your noodles!
I recommend also ordering the Karaage (don't share) because you want it all to yourself! The crunchyness of the Karaage works perfectly well with that amazing bowl of Tonkotsu ramen and all the toppings are plenty!
Overall, I consider this as my favourite Ramen in London!
P.s. apologies for the photo, I can't help myself to dig in before taking it 😅
A. A.
The best ramen in all London. They had a special beef ramen, one of the best 👌
Demand on this restaurant is very high
J. M.
Good authentic ramen (although spicy ramen isn't actually that spicy!). Also chicken karage one of best I have had in UK. Reasonably priced and expect to queue for 10 - 30 minutes
P. P.
The most delicious ramen I had in London so far. Fantastic flavor. I don’t give 5 stars because of the ventilation and open kitchen you will leave the restaurant smelling like you came out of a frying machine.
A. Z.
The Tonkotsu X ramen was good, but a bit salty. Karaage portion was also a bit small.
N. G.
The Ramen we had tasted good but it took a while to get it as they were busy and the guy gave our order to another table and he didn't even apologise for the mistake 🙈
Also I think an egg should have come in the dish as a standard thing rather than having to pay extra for it.
Our waitress Melina was great and did an excellent job. Because of her I'm giving 4 stars otherwise it would have been 3 because of the reasons I mentioned above.
B. D.
The BEST Ramen I have ever eaten.
This restaurant is amazing. The flavours, the broth, and especially the eggs were just incredible. The choice of Japanese beers and drinks was great as it made the experience feel even more authentic. Lovely staff who were really transparent about the wait for tables, 10 minutes for such incredible food is a great deal
R. C. S.
Service is great and the staff seem really knowledgeable about the menu! Got the soba and it tastes great - ingredients go well with each other. Only gripe would be the portion size compared to other similarly-priced dishes. Tables are well-cleaned. Would recommend
C. B.
Amazing, as always. So many flavours, different textures. Brilliant service, staff, and food! Always a treat coming here!
E. E.
Wow. What can I say? A wonderful ramen experience outside of Japan. The tonkostsu ramen, katsu curry and karaage were delicious. 10/10
J.
Popped in here yesterday for a ramen. I've been to Japan and experienced the delights of many a tonkotsu so to find somewhere in England that is comparable to some of the ramens in Japan is just delightful. The broth was rich and delicious and I added spicy miso paste for a bit of extra kick. I very much recommend!
C. K.
Service was fast but didn't enjoy the food. Went there for dinner and I had the vegan option with their recommended noodle style, which was hard. Definitely way too hard for my liking and the soup was merely ok. I'm saying this because I also had a vegan ramen at another similar restaurant for lunch earlier and I felt their vegan option was better in term both value and taste as there were a lot more in the bowl.
A. C.
The London-exclusive yuzu soy sauce ramen is delicious yet a bit salty.
C. L.
Coming here specifically for the ramen, the bowl seemed to be of good size but not very filling. As for the tastes, not too bad but wouldn’t say impressive. Also ordered dumplings and onigiri (rice balls), once again, average tastes. However, restaurant was small but comfortable and staff were friendly. I could hardly find any good ramen restaurants in London, not sure why....
F. H.
Great ramen, but London prices and you need to add paid extras to have a proper bowl of ramen. With an egg £17 for a bowl of ramen is astronomical.
Drinks are also pretty steep but tap water is available.
C. S.
Food was good but service was poor. On arrival, we were told to wait outside the restaurant while the table was being cleaned. I ordered ramen and gyoza. The gyoza came after I'd finished the ramen (which I didn't mind at all) but the waiter took away my cutlery I used for eating the ramen and didn't bring any replacement for the gyoza. I ended up having to nick a new set from another table.

L.
Banging tonkotsu! Had to order kaedama because the noodles were so good. The most authentic ramen I've had so far. Bit far for me but definitely worth the trip with your pals.
J. M.
Each Kanada Ya site has not only been consistent but really delicious. Big fan ✌🏼
K. H.
Any orders including Tonkotsu ramen is quickly served. There is a couple of interesting flavor beers that you can try.

The BEST Ramen I have ever eaten.
This restaurant is amazing. The flavours, the broth, and especially the eggs were just incredible. The choice of Japanese beers and drinks was great as it made …
H. P.
Best ramen ever 😍
D. S.
One of the best Tonkotsu ramen in London for sure!
The broth is thick yet smooth down your throat! Not too hot to burn your tongue …
S. S.
Perfectly cooked noodles everytime. Would always order an kaedama (a side of extra noodles) half way through my Ramen for a second go. There is no mistaking this broth, its truly fresh everyday and worth any wait to get it.
E. L.
Been wanting to go Kanada-Ya for a while since it's really popular, but got disappointed.
Just average ramen and definitely too salty.
Staff was nice
S. C.
Live this ramen. Thin noodles and sexologist soup.
Like most of Japanese food, portion is not very big but the value is beyond averages.
The service is pretty fast. Snack and alcohol is great too. Will comeback for sure!
T. K.
3 stars.. this is interesting.
Going back to 2017, a bowl of Kanada Ya ramen was always a life changing ramen. Perfect service, great table-top toppings and soulful broth.
Now, with all these competitions across ippudo, soryu, japan centre, eat tokyo etc etc, the ramen I had today at Kanada-Ya was no where near previous experiences.
Taste of MSG (or whatnot) kicked in on first spoon of broth, dry porkbelly and removal of table top freebies let me down.
Service charge of 12.5% but didnt bother for a coat hanger.
Overall, it is still a great bowl of ramen but 3 stars compared to other competitors.
Cheers.
N. N.
The food is tasty but it'd be nice if the staff actually paid attention to customers and not just chatting around in less busy hours. The menu is available digitally, and payment is now done on the online menu, so all the staff needs to do is take orders and deliver food and drinks which they didn't.
K. H.

I’d recommend this ramen if u are looking for something really rich. Cos the broth is the richest I’ve ever had and I chose the veggie broth. My plus one had the meaty one but also thought it was super rich. Great for a winters day. I liked the veggie sides but I don’t recommend the agedashi tofu - not good!
s.
It was a fantastic experience in this restaurant! The staff was really friendly, the foods were delicious as well as the atmosphere there was comfy.
I would definitely recommend this as a place you must go and try when you are in London.
Btw, all the staffs are nice looking, full of passion and also professional.
2nd visit! Food is still perfect!!
J. B. H.
My favourite ramen place in London. This location is slightly bigger than the one is St Gilles. Food is great and price is quite low for the value! The only down side is the queue, but for such great value, it is worth the wait.
V. L.
Good service and great ramen, the guy with the grey hair was really friendly and helpful! Would defo go again for a casual eat
R. W.
Some of the best Ramen I've had! The Truffle Ramen was too die for! Service and food was very quick as well
J. A.
Absolutely amazing and I would recommend to anyone wanting some incredible ramen. Once in a lifetime!
L. J.
Used to be really good for tonkotsu, but has become subpar. Also had some dumplings here and had a weird taste to it. Will be back for karage tho
J. C.
Want to find a good ramen in London? Here is the place you should be. Great staff, too. The reason for 4 stars is somehow the soup is not as good as the other shop on Gile`s High street.
L. P.
A short 10 minute wait on Sunday. You have to pay 2£ to order the egg as a side order even though I ordered the most expensive item on the menu. Their bowl is the small kind. Fine for Asians but not a full meal for most humans. The taste was authentic so expect it to be on the salty side. They only offer one kind of noodle which is not that great since they cost 12 to 14£. I have had much better ramen at one third of the price in Japan and Taiwan.
P. S.
Absolutely the best place for Ramen. Ordered the Gekikari ramen and a katsu curry. Both these orders were absolutely delish.
D. T.
Great food, probably the best damn ramen I had in London so far, Taaaaaasty tonkotsu broth with truffle sauce on top, to die for! Service was quick and pleasant. Fried chicken with special mayo is also incredible... Will miss this place so much 😞
P. H.
Perfect pre-theatre spot for dinner, delicious ramen and gyoza and food delivered to the table quickly.
Fantastic service too, highly recommend
K. T.
The best ramen in London. I am never disappointed when I come here. I love having the option of how I would like the noodles cooked.
A must visit if you want some good ramen. The queue is worth it.
M. K.
The ramen was tasty, as were the small plates. However nothing really blew me away. And having to pay extra for tea stained eggs and the general high prices of the menu didn't win me over. Definitely had tastier ramen from other local restaurants.
A. P.
Food that looks pretty and tastes good, however I’ve had much better ramen - better taste, quality
This place looks very weird, lots of Europeans running Japanese restaurant, during my visit I haven’t seen one single Japanese member of staff.
D. L.
Went here on a Sunday lunchtime and it was still busy busy but managed to get a counter seat quite quickly.
The place is small but not cramped and the staff are friendly.
Service of the food was a little slower than I expected and price for portion was also slightly higher than I would have expected but it all tasted really good and you won't be disappointed with the flavour. The best part in my opinion was the bite of the noodles which they got right.
T. W.
Good ramen restaurant in city centre of London. Quick service👍
It's a bit shame that I had a soft noodle although I ordered an extra hard one twice during my visit as it was same with kaedama.
I think they need to re-check how much the noodle to be cooked at each level of tenderness.
C.
Kanada-Ya is our favourite to go to Ramen place outside of Japan. A hot broth ramen is exactly what we needed on a cold day in Dec. The place is quite small and it does get abit busy at times and you may need to wait for a bit, but definitely worth the wait. The broth is one of nicest & richest in London, and we like how we can choose the firmness of the noodles!
H. D.
I’m not an expert on ramen but I think Kanada Ya is worth a visit. You may have to share a table but good value for money and really tasty.
D. H.
Got lucky on a Monday evening and walked in and got a table straight away. My wife and I both ordered the tonkatsu X, added an egg then get black garlic oil on the side. Lovely flavor without being too heavy on the pork fat (though definitely expect creaminess as it's a tonkatsu!). Noodles were great though not made in house. The egg was one of the best onsen tamago I have ever had, including back when I lived in Japan. Overall, highly recommend it. Might now be my favorite ramen in London
P. T.
Authentic ramen in a rich savoury soup. I got the chashu tonkotsu ramen. Chewy noodles. Prices very similar to Tonktotsu and Shoryu. Not many sides on the menu as compared to the others, but to be honest for the ‘authentic’ ramen slurping experience there wouldn’t be any. We ordered onigiri on the side which were pleasant enough, and Karaage which was dry and slightly disappointing. To be honest the sides were completely unnecessary as after eating up my ramen I was completely stuffed. Still a good option for ramen. Flavour is superior to Shoryu in my opinion.
PS these are not places for dates. Ramen noodles are for eating quickly else your noodles go soggy and your soup cools down. This place usually also has a substantial queue especially on weekends. Though the staff never pressure you to leave you will get stared daggers at by oriental fellow diners who will wonder what the f*** you are doing if you eat a noodle at a time whilst sipping elegantly from your alcoholic beverage. You have been warned.
A. B.
Great place for ramen, just off the busy streets and round the corner from the Japan centre. Would recommend their Matcha Mille Feuille as a desert!
M. S.
Ramen was really good, reach in taste. It was quite small and without many add-ons. Egg costs extra! Weird. Staff was nice and friendly. Place is small and worn-out. Food was served really quickly. Expect a few minutes waiting time to be seated.
A.
Absolutely amazing ramen. I was never into ramen previously, but this place definitely changed my mind. The broth was full of flavour and the noodles had the perfect consistency (asked for them to be hard, the recommended option). Reasonable prices as well. Keep in mind, you might need to queue at peak times.
K. L.
Back to Kanada-ya after a while! Glad to say the quality remains as good as it used to be, servings maybe just slightly smaller? Going for my usual tonkotsu and charshu don, as delicious as I remember. Prices haven't been hiked either! Great attentive staff and nice decors. Lunch ramen comes with a free drink!
J. S.
Food tasted not bad. But the pork is too thinly sliced that not only that u can't even pick it up without breaking it, it changes the taste and texture of the pork when it's sliced less than 1mm thin. A bit disappointed with how they choose to serve. Have to wait for long like almost 45min for seats. But reception staff is very efficient and nice. Eventhough it's constantly busy, she still managed to smile n was nice to every customer.
L. L.
Decent ramen. Nice noodles, which are a bit thinner the other places. Tonkotsu is quite salty. Ramen is supposed to be salty, but this one is a bit much. Could be more generous toppings. Egg is sweet and really nice with a creamy yolk. However £2 for an egg is ridiculous.
This place gets busy fast. Has a decent amount of seating upstairs and downstairs. Staff are efficient. Prices are slightly cheaper than ippudo.
Y. M.
Great ramen. You can pass the tuna onigiri- a lot of rice and very little fish. Also we were expecting proper red tuna but it was just simple tuna-salad like. Very friendly staff.
B. T.
1+ Hour-long queue for a average bowl of ramen.
TLDR: You'll get seated more quickly in pairs than in larger groups. Avoid peak hour food times.
Arrived at the store (just after 6 pm on a Thursday evening) with a modest size for the queue and expected to wait around 30-35 minutes for a group of 4. Didn't have issues with the queue itself, but we when we got to the front of the queue (about 30 minutes later), we were there for another good 30 minutes watching at least 3 pairs of couples who were behind us overtake us in quite a quick succession. There was a bar table at the front of the shop, one pair left first with another pair finishing (they've paid already, but drinking their tea and chatting away), and we thought our group of 4 would be sat there next. Nope, the pair behind us sat down, and when the other pair finished drinking their tea at the bar table just less than 5 minutes later, the other pair behind us then sat down. We couldn't believe it and were really annoyed because the wait for the next table of 4 was 30 minutes later. It's like the staff don't keep track of how long customers have been waiting outside. There weren't any stools to sit on whilst waiting.
Regardless, when our ramen arrived, it was nice but average-nice. We enjoyed our meal, but I think we'll try another ramen place next time.
P. Z.
Small, nice and cozy restaurant. We had the tonkatsu x noodle. Really nice that you can choose how hard the noodles should be cooked (we had the recommended hard). The broth was flavourful, and noodles al dente, the pork belly was cold but tasty, a bit disappointed over the few ingredients, but I guess they wanted to keep it simple (an egg would be nice). The staff was ok and in standard Japanese manner they welcome everyone with a loud welcome.
J. W.
Ramen broth was great but I’m not sure if it’s THAT great for me to stand an hour or so in line? I didn’t fancy that my ramen came with a layer of froth? It looked like the floating layer of compost I have to skim off if I let a soup boil too long and my OCD personality kicks in, unable to remove that image from my head. Ramen is decent but their chicken karrage was soggy and limp. I guess this place is not that big a deal after all.
Y. A.
Good Ramen is like a warm hug to your soul from the inside. No Joke.
Kanada Ya, time and time again, gives me that warm feeling.
In my usual tradition, i dont post reviews after just one visit- unless ive had an exceptionally bad experience- i usually visit 2 times at least before writing a review.
Ive been frequenting different branches of Kanada Ya across London for the last 4 years and i honestly have nothing bad to say.
The broth is flavorful and traditional. And always served super hot.
The noodles are reccomended as hard, you can chose if youd rather them be soft, however hard gives the best bite and flavor.
The chashu pork must be made of the best quality, as this is truly where kanada ya stands out with competitors in London- ive experienced wonky tasting pork many times at other establishments.
Their ramen eggs are cooked just right and never too salty.
Their various side dipping sauces, like the spicy yuzu paste, are in a league of their own.
I absolutely love this place and highly reccomend it for an amazing bowl of ramen that is worth its value, made with the best and traditional ingridients, and always served PIPING HOT as it should be.
T. A. (.
Amazing food, give you good options with noodle firmness, staff very friendly and very fast service.
E. S.
We came in four to have dinner without reservation on a Saturday night, after 10 minutes we were seated. We had the Kaarage - fried chicken - as a starter and then the Ramen. Everything was delicious! The staff is very friendly and the service is fast, loved it!
P. H.
The brooth was watery and had not the full, rich flavour that a tonkotsu is known for -esp. Not after they advertise to cook it for 18h. Chashu was also not very intense. Egg was okay & noodles were good.
K. Y.
Not a single time kanadaya has failed us, I love a good bowl of rich tonkutsu ramen, customise your toppings make sure you add a hanjuku egg, pick some sides (truffle edamame or karaage) make jt a perfect meal.
M. H.
Amazing food, best Ramen I've had (never had outside of the UK), finished by drinking the remaining broth like an animal.
Enjoyed with a side of karaage, which is just unreal, the coating is filled with strong, epic and appetite rising seasoning, the chicken itself is just perfectly cooked and leaks juice on a minor tremble.
Served with proper mayo.
Highly recommend the veggie broth made from soy and Porcini.
N. A.
Really tasty food, decent price, and I really like that the Menu is QR Code!
My second visit to the same restaurant and always get lovely Service! (:
A. B.
Well this is simply one of the best ramen places I’ve eaten at in the world. They seat in batches, so that explains the line outside. Once seated the ramen comes fast, they had run out of gyoza. But the tonkotsu was magical, such mouth feel and layers of taste. And the egg. If your in London, and it’s rainy and cold this place will warm you right up. Cannot miss.
P. Q.
This restaurant has the best ramen I have ever tasted, as good or better than the ones I had in Japan. The broth is rich and flavourful, and they cook the noodles to your specification (would recommend to eat them hard). If ramen is what you want to eat then this is the best place to do it.
A. Z.
The portion is Tiny and doesn't come with the egg. They recommended the hard noodles but I found it too hard for my taste. If I were to come here again (which probably won't happen soon) I would choose regular.
I sat downstairs and next to the kitchen. It was not the pristine clean Japanese kitchen I'm used to. The floor is a bit dirty and the decor is rusty.
H. Y.
Don't let the size fool you, this place packs a punch. We waited for maybe 30 minutes but once inside service was impeccable and fast. Food was affordable and delicious unique takes on traditional ramen. Much enjoyed.
a. g.
Lovely ramen and really nice service.rhw kara age had a little spice which was good. The ramen had a really rich broth. Very morish. Would come again.
g.
Came with high expectations. Food was not as good as I thought it would be. Items like kirin beer out of stock by 3pm. No karage chicken. Overall service was good but food salty.
T. P.
Absolutely delicious! Our fav place from now on ❤️
J. S.
The spicy ramen was perfect. One of the Very best. Hot enough to be tasty but not to hot so you can't taste all the other layers of flavour.
The Japanese fried chicken was the best I have ever had. Tender and visible juice inside!
Macha pudding was delicious.
Only problem was trying to fit it all in.
Service was flawless. Friendly and efficient.
A. S.
Karaage is amazing, best ramen in london by far!! Katsu curry is also lovely. Favourite place to go for ramen everytime.
A. C.
I came in last night for the first time, the manager was very welcoming and warm I don't remember her name but she had a sparkling mask and tattoos on her arms , she explained the way to pay and order and told us of the missing items and asked us if we needed any help to ask, it was busy in the restaurant but she seemed to have time to give us and it was just great service , we ordered the Ramens with all the toppings it was delicious we ordered the Tonkatsu X which she recommended and she also told us to the Karaage which was fried chicken, which was amazing unfortunately they didn't have the egg but the whole experience was amazing will definitely come back!!
G. L.
The broth was so rich and creamy! Definitely order a hanjuku egg with your ramen :)
G. S.
Best ramen in town. By far. Super hearty, banging flavours. Couldn't recommend more. The little rice things they do as starters a so crazy tasty as well it makes your tummy dance!!!

Great Raman. Really doesn't need to many words. Of you can get to the original, do that but otherwise, just get here!
J. P.
I thought it was best one in london!! haha!!
K. V.
Tasty food!
C. A.
Excellent ramen, very rich and creamy broth. On of the best ramen in London. The karage were really good as well. Can get really busy during lunch and dinner time, but there are more seats downstairs. Staff are friendly and quick. Would definitely come again!

Fantastic food. Lovely staff. Would come again.
Ps get the egg with the ramen - sublime
A. Y.
Kanada-ya is hands down the best ramen place in London! The broth is always super flavoursome with real flavour as opposed to MSG! The noodles are perfectly 'hard' and the meat is tasty too.therrs not enough meat in my opinion, but the portion is good as a whole! The garnishes are plentiful.
However, the fried chicken was rather dry though and I wouldn't recommend it... It might be different for other people though.
P. W. J.
Best ramen I’ve had since I left Japan!
D. F.
Arguably the best ramen in London, Kanada- Ya is a place that you should not miss out. This is actually the second restaurant and is much better for groups of three to four. Their first resto in St. Giles is more about having a quick bite while this branch is more laid back. All their ramen offerings are mouthwateringly great and unpretentious. The fried chicken is a great starter as well. Prices are reasonable. Service is good and they also offer loyalty stamps for which you get a free ramen on the eighth visit.
C. C.
I tried the truffle ramen! It is indeed one of a kind. The noodles are perfectly cooked. The first slurp was Phenomenal but then it’s too heavy for a whole bowl of it 😂. It’s a bit pricey for not having an egg (or 2 GBP for one) , but perhaps London is just pricey. Good service!
Z. c.
Really good tongkatsu ramen. I tried both the truffle ramen as well as the spicy yuzu ramen and both was delicious. The broth not too thick and is light but definitely tasty. I truffle was also very fragrant with the broth. Definitely a good choice. The ramen was missing a poach egg, and has to be add-on. The truffle edamame I felt was good, but I didn't find it that much more unique compare to just regular salt.
S. L.
Authentic taste for Japanese but not authentic price, a bit too expensive…..
T. C.
I was recommended by a friend to try this and I have to admit it lives up to the expectations. It's just delicious! We had to queue for 45 mins but it was worth it. We tried the sake, beer and the tonkotsu X and gyosas. Really worth it!
T. M. M.
The ramen is delicious and you can choose your noodle firmness. Kaedama was quick to come.
J. D.
Great Japanese ramen bar with traditional tasty creamy ramen. I really enjoyed the Gekikara, the combination between the spicy tan tan, pork, hard cooked noodles and lots of vegetables makes this dish really delicious. I would recommend ordering an extra egg to upgrade your ramen.
D.
Great food and service but long queue time for a Tuesday evening . Good food and broth tho
L. L.
Love it love it love it, great ramen and the best karage I've had so far
Y.
Ordering the spicy yuzu ramen every single time, just always at a good quality.
M. S.
My favourite ramen in London. Some people complain that the broth is too thick but I believe that this is what makes it unique. Keep it thick!
M. G.
Average ramen. The tonkotsu broth was a bit stale. The tonkotsu x broth was fresher.
I. V.
As always one of the most reliable ramen in London!
B. H.
I could eat this ramen every day. Really tasty broth, perfect noodles (get them hard) and delicious sides (big portion of chicken karaage). Usually a line out the door at lunchtimes but the wait is never too long.
W. T.
Go for Tonkotsu X. We found the broth is less thick and at least it won't burn your throats when you swallow it like the original Tonkotsu.
Positives:
1. Friendly and helpful staff
2. Free ginger and very tasty spicy pickles which were on the table.
3. Tap water came (without you asking for it)
Negatives:
A. None that I could think of.
m. d.
Best tonkotsu broth in London. And the noodles are exactly as should be. Nice and efficient service.
J. C.
Really nice food but I am disappointed to see the management impose a 12.5% service charge on your bill and then expect you to add a tip as well. Sorry this is not on!
K. C.
Always wanted to try this place out but the queues were always offputting. Finally managed to come in for a late lunch and it’s lived to expectations. Fried chicken was crunchy and full of flavour. Tonkotsu X broth was delicious and the best thing was the extra egg!
R. K.
One of the best ramens I have tasted. Love the authenticity! Price range is around £10-15 per person.
L. W.
I ordered the spicy tan-tan with Char Siu pork with an extra egg for £2.0. The Char Siu pork was melt in my mouth and it had been slow cooked. And it was very tasty. The spicy minced pork overpowered the soup and had “pork” Flavour that I found it quite unpleasant. The overall meal was under £17 (w/o drinks) for a small bowl of noodles. Staff was attentive, polite and friendly. I was a bit disappointed that I felt extremely thirsty after the meal which MSG was possibly added to the soup.
V. J.
This was really really good ramen! Kanada-san was from Fukuoka, so his noodles are best enjoyed cooked hard. The broth foams a bit on top but that's normal according to the staff. He put this really neat twist on it, with the wild mushrooms. The broth was very tasty without being salty, the pork was really delicious and the green onions were beautiful. Definitely coming back here.
Z. L.
Kanada-Ya serves up a great bowl of ramen goodness. However, go early (when the shop opens) when there's no queue. Tasty as it is, the ramen is not worth queuing up more than 10 minutes for.
S. M.
Hands down best Tonkotsu Ramen available in London. Chashu don also very tasty! It’s nice to be served drinks in chilled glasses and the service is very good. Nice atmosphere and everything makes me nostalgic of being back in Japan.
F.
Nice place to enjoy the Lamen!
It was great. But you have to wait little in dinner time.
It’s not that huge place. But taste good!
I. N.
Best ramen in Central London. Truffle ramen packs a flavour punch.
徐.
Very famous Ramen shop in the London. But I was very disappointed in here. Very normal ramen for me, no any creative in the ramen soup.
J. W.
The noodles are super thin...which was a pleasant surprise to me. Get them hard as recommended. The karagae and seared pork as apps were also good dishes to add on. Would come back for sure.
B. M.
Good broth, pork was a bit tough and dry, though hopefully it will be better next time. Over all a great ramen joint!
M. L.
Highly recommend!
Delicious ramen and cozy atmosphere😍
I’ll be back 😁
I. M.
I came to this particular branch about 3-4 years ago. It's not as good as I remember it being. The karaage had an interesting breading, not the typical potato starch breading.
I got the Tonkotsu X and it was more on the salty side, and broth was lacking some richness. Very small portion of the chashu as well.
Staff was great though.
J. M.
Each Kanada Ya site has not only been consistent but really delicious. Big fan ✌🏼
J. M.
Great ramen! Quite authentic and I just felt back in Tokyo. The price is good too. If you are for Ramen probably one of the best options in London.
L. L.
My favorite place in London!
The dishes are extremely delicious and I love the matcha desserts.
M. F.
Simply the best ramen I have tasted so far. More expensive than Shoryu but more superior as well. Have three branches now. One in Panton, one near shaftsbury avenue and a newly opened branch near angels station near Marble Arch London.
J. L.
Tasty ramen. The marinaded egg is a must - the flavour is incredible!
m. -.
It was really good ! The service and the people were really nice !! Just perfect ! I recommend
E. M.
Always the broth is really delicious. Tonkatsu Ramen, how to be you!!!!!
R. K.
Delicious ramen in London. Around 13pouns for ramen and 4.5pouns for the rice. P.S. it was very hot in the shop =p
C. S.
Love spicy yuzu ramen. It will make you warn on the cold and rainy day in London.
k. h.
Best ramen I've ever had, and I love my tonkotsu. Been here time.and time again and they never fail.to deliver the goods. Top tier in every way, and absolutely banging karaage chicken to boot. Big up yourself guys!!
T. B.
This is by far the best ramen place in London! A small, cozy restaurant with helpful staff and delicious ramen. There is a good selection of different types if ramen which you can easily customise to your liking. I would definitely recommend this place.
M. Y.
Staffs are friendly, but can’t say this taste ok. I ordered Gekikara ramen, says yuzu oil but I didn’t taste any of it. The spicy pork mince on top is cold. I hasn’t had any food all day yet this still taste bad to me
T. B.
Very tasty ramen truffle, great unique taste of the japan beer - kirin. Im very satisfied.
D. C.
Great tasting food! Ramen full of flavor
K. T.
This place serves ramen that is so good that it is reminiscent of Japan. London prices though.
P. Z.
Small, nice and cozy restaurant. We had the tonkatsu x noodle. Really nice that you can choose how hard the noodles should be cooked (we had the recommended hard). The broth was flavourful, and noodles al dente, the pork belly was cold but …
F. S.
The BEST ramen place you will find in the UK for that amount of money. (It was a recommendation from Sushi Bar HanaMatsuri chef north of Leeds - just from that you can know it delivers!)
The ramen's consistency was as thick as a milkshake and omg was it delicious. Apart of that, the fired chicken...whole new different level.
All of that for a very cheap price.
M. A. F.
Good ramen
H. W.
Yuzu ramen is really good!
B. T.
1+ Hour-long queue for a average bowl of ramen.
TLDR: You'll get seated more quickly in pairs than in larger groups. Avoid peak …
T. R.
If you want to eat a real delicious ramen, you must stop here when in London! One of my favourite ramen ever!!!
S. M.
Hands down best Tonkotsu Ramen available in London. Chashu don also very tasty! It’s nice to be served drinks in chilled glasses and the service is very good. Nice atmosphere and everything makes me nostalgic of being back in Japan.
C. S.
Love spicy yuzu ramen. It will make you warn on the cold and rainy day in London.
A. G.
The broth is very rich and excellent, right for the cold weather 👌 😀
S. T.
Great ramen. Broth was good, if not as rich as some. Meats were great.
S. D.
Definitely one of the top 2 ramen spots in London. The only other one remotely close is Bone Daddies. The staff are lovely as well. Can't go wrong with any of the ramen here.
The real winner is the truffle salted edamame.
S. F.
Very delicious ramen with good portion! The place is kinda small, but still pretty comfortable.
R. H.
Yes to this ramen place. A really rich and well balanced tonkotsu broth. I've eaten at a lot of ramen places and this will be a place I would visit again. I won't claim best ramen in London but definitely on of the top joints. Whatever bowl you are getting, don't forget to order the perfectly cured egg!
T. S.
Recently they reduced significant amount of charsiu and made us disappointed. Hope they can serve the original soon.
M. M.
Great Tonkotsu Ramen as always. Kare-age / fried chicken was also very good. Something about that mayo.
R. J.
The best ramen in London. I've tried the same branch in Hong Kong and I think the London one is better
P. B.
Excellent and very affordable ramen (for central London), very quick and friendly service 10/10 will come back
K. Ż.
Sake was very good. Ramen was just ok. I was ordering 2 ramen for me but lady don't understand me so I'm giving only 3 stars.
H. P.
Best ramen ever 😍
S. C.
Really nice ramen and perfect place to dine on a cold day. This branch is much bigger and are available to book online which is a huge plus point.
N. L.
Was delicious and decent price! Great service!
o. e.
A bit overrated. The ramen was Ok, but I had better. Don’t see a reason why the staff recommend hard noodles.
S. K.
My forever favourite ramen place!
S. P.
Friendly and fast service, fantastic food. Perfect dinner date with affordable menu. Will come back again!
J. L.
Good quality ramen, rich and tasty broth! Service was very quick too.
M. C.
The ramen at this place is amazing. But the chasu pork and Kara-age have to be my fav dishes here. They are surprisingly filling :)
H. K.
Best tonkotsu ramen ever tasted. I now know why people queue for this place, it's worth it!!!
R. K.
Best Ramen I have had in London. And the kara age was delicious as well as the fried gyoza. Never disappointed, and keep going back whenever in London.
Y. S.
The ramen was very tasty - cooked in flavorful broth that I wish I could replicate at home. My favorite bit was the cured egg - something about the texture of the egg yolk really added to the dish. The service was impeccable as well. Although it was very busy around lunchtime, we had no trouble snagging a table,
L. H. N.
What a great little find! We were seeking a hot soup dish for lunch on a cold day and this really hit the spot. We tried the Tonkatsu X, which is a blend of pork and chicken broths. The broth was rich but yet not overly heavy. The noodles were cooked hard with a great chewy texture (you can choose how cooked you want your noodles). They even provide small jars of spicy pickled cabbage and pickled ginger on the side. Only caveat is the price is a smidge higher than other ramen shops. The ramen doesn't include an egg, which is another 2£ more. Staff are friendly, shop is small so expect a short wait. Well worth it!
M. B.
This is most probably the best ramen I had in London. This particular spot is not quite as busy as others during lunchtime so there was no waiting around for the table. The food is so good, full of flavour, generous portions, you really can't fault the place. I'm definitely coming back soon and many times over!
C. R.
Amazing Ramen as always. Served promptly
A. R.
Best ramen I've ever had in London. The broth is very rich and tasty.
Fantastic service as well! The staff was super friendly and attentive.
Special thank you to Gio for the exceptional service. Thank you for making my birthday lunch perfect!
W. S.
The only reason not give 5 stars is because the space is too small, other than that is perfect
M. B. H. D.
As always the ramen in Kanada-ya is amazing, the attention is always great
M. F.
Average tasting noodles, attentive service, rediculously high price
K. C.
Consistently great ramen, always craving this when i come to London.
L. J. (.
Very good ramen but there are a few cons :
- The atmosphere of the restaurant doesn't feel like Japan at all. It was like being in a rave party with loud music bumping. Of course, eating ramen doesnt mean being in Japan, but I was expecting a little bit more from the " best Tonkotsu ramen"
- 10.50 for the tonkotsu isn't expensive at all, but it is without egg or even nori. They did ask " do you want your egg" but if you say yes, it is an extra.
- On the website, they also offer the possibility of choosing how cooked we want our ramen (very hard to soft). However, they did not offer this in person.
A. A.
A favourite for me and my friend. As individuals who love Japanese culture & food. It is hard to find authentic food unless you visit Japan. But this came up on a search and I have to say it is the best ramen I have had. The broth is rich, the service is quick and excellent. Everything you expect.
Only thing to do now is visit Japan to taste the real stuff!
C. L.
Best ramen I’ve had outside of Japan. Broth is delicious and pork super tender. As other reviews mention be prepared to wait but it’s usually a quick turn over. I wouldn’t bother trying to get seated there with a large group.
R. F. L.
Ramen is good and refreshing. Service, well depending on who you get. There is inconsistency in the service delivery - we were there at about 1440pm; the place closes at 1500pm. However there was another person in the queue. The hostess was not at all welcoming saying that she did not know if they could accommodate us before 1500pm indirectly suggesting us to find another restaurant. We nevertheless waited. The ramen was spicy and delicious - it could have tastes better if we had a better welcoming.
B. T.
This is a great place that is only open for a few hours at a time and doesn't take bookings. Expect long queues if you don't get there at opening. I normally think of Ramen as okay, however this place is so much more. The broth has loads of flavour and is a little thicker than most, while the noodles have that wholegrain taste with a perfect bite to them but without tasting raw. This is my first choice ramen venue
E. C.
Staff were very kind and understanding when we needed to switch from eat-in to take away because our friend was ill. Delicious food, veggies/soup/noodles are sperated for takeaway so that you can mix it all together when you're ready so noodles arent soggy and it all tastes fresh!
T. W.
Brilliant food and lovely people. Highly recommended
M. Z.
Seriously the best ramen in town. Please go if you haven't been, for a really authentic experience of this broth. A true elixir of goodness. Don't miss it, there is one in central London and one I'm Angel, north London. A must try. We tried almost all ramens, but with all options on offer here, you can't go wrong. Good starters too! Great place!
P. A.
Great ramen for an amazing price. The staff are friendly and seat you quickly, and the dishes are easy to order and customise.
Our food came so quickly and was delicious and I'd definitely go again and recommend to people wanting a quick but nourishing dinner before watching a show.
S. B.
One of the most delicious vegetarian ramen I've tried. Will definitely come back!
D. B.
Small, very small place but...food quality is so high as usual. The signature dish or the X version (only for London) both taste AMAZING
L. V.
Good ramen in London. I prefer this place over shoyru. The egg is perfection.
I. S.
Slightly quieter than the main restaurant at St Giles.
Noodles are delicious with varying levels of hardness depending on your preference. The broths are cooked for 18 hours and you can tell with great selection of thick broths. The prices are typical of other noodle places however you can order another portion of noodles to add to your left over broth and keep eating!
Would I go again?
Yes, more noodles.
A. B.
Used to be really good. But recently went after 2-3 months and noodles were too soft even tho we requested hard. And pork belly was cold. But the broth is still amazing.
C. C.
I've been to many Ramen shops in Asia. Kanada-ya's Ramen lives up to my standard and the service was excellent as well. Keep in mind that there are many Ramen styles in different soups and noodles. The flavor offered here i will describe it as easy-going and comfortable, while i personally prefer more intense taste. In general, It's a place i would recommend to my friend.
Two bowls of Ramens and a starter (fried chicken) added up to abt 30 pounds.
W. H.
Probably the best ramen I've tried yet!
Go for the Tonkatsu first before going exotic. We loved it.
But beware, that you might be waiting quite long until getting seated.
Definitely, must try!
M. J.
Mostly giving 3 stars for relatively poor value, even for London. The ramen was nicely flavoured. Downside is that for 13 quid it only came with three thin slices of pork (which was very tasty) and an egg was an additional extra which I think is a bit ridiculous. Not a particularly large portion in general, and also the layout of the restaurant is a bit cramped. It was also a bit of surprise that one of their dishes was unavailable at half 6 on a Friday because they'd run out of chicken broth. Avoid the circular tables with a large number of people otherwise you'll end up with zero leg room. It was nice, and the service was quick, but I wouldn't go again.
P. C. K. L.
Its a good ramen restaurant, restaurant itself is very cosy. Food is great tasting, portions are decent sized for a normal person. I always add an additional portion of noodles on the side. Would recommend all their ramen dishes however Truffle ramen was not my cup of tea as it was too rich for my liking. Best time to go is when it opens and after the busy rush on the lunch hour. Best ramen joint in London so far, it beats Shoryu hands down. Have been there numerous times for lunch meetups and would definitely be back for another delicious bowl of ramen.
E. P.
To this day, it remains the best Ramen i've ever had in Europe. The broth is superbly tasty and so are the tender slices of pork belly. Kanada-Ya has rightfully become one of the highlights of my visits to London since 2017. I am permanently looking forward to my next bowl!
A word for the staff too, nice and efficient.
D. C.
Best ramen I've had! Will always try to visit when I'm in London.
P. G.
Amazing ramen. Authentic and delicious indeed. And a lot of people complain about rude stuff in the reviews. It's true, they kick you out of the restaurant the minute you finish your meal. I do understand, they have lots of people in line, but I didn't even have time to put my sweater and coat properly. They ask/told us to get a check second we finished eating. They brought the check right away, then while we were paying, there was next person already standing next to our table, waiting to sit down. So we had to rush to get out. This ruined experience a little bit. Maybe for someone from NYC, this is okay, but in most places in London it is considered rude. Ramen was 5 out of 5, and this place is for a quick bite. I know Ramen is pretty much fast food in Japan, but £13 is too much for a fast food experience.
L. H.
The Broth was creamy and rich the noodles were cooked to perfect. Overall an amazing culinary experience would recommend to anyone who hasn't tried it definitely coming back next time I'm in London.
love this place!!
B. M.
Great ramen! Pork is melting in your mouth. We have visited this place for first time and we will come back. Be ready to queue for your table outside. It took us 30 minutes. Service can improve bit more. We had empty bowls in front of us even after the payment. But that’s the only thing.
a.
One of the best places for ramen in London, hands down. I especially love how you can choose the hardness of the ramen, I tend to go for very firm since I like a lot of bite to the noodles. The broth is deep and rich, and the meat is tender and mouthwatering.
Z. W.
The best ramen you'll ever have! And the Karrage is to die for, not to mention the table service, polite and attentive waiters/waitresses. can't wait to come again!
J. J.
Pretty good decent ramen. Portion is just right for me, but mg t actually be a smidge small for a larger person. We were seated with no problems on a Monday evening. Fine service. I don’t get the hype though.
S. W.
A must go if you love ramen. The taste of the broth is an absolute delight and the noodles come in 5 different softness levels. So you can get hard and chewy noodles or very soft, tender ones. I went there and had 2 bowls! Highly recommended.
K.
Definitely coming back here!
T. R.
We are ramen lovers since we tried it in Spain and came to that restaurant during our stay in London after reading a couple of good reviews on the internet. We chose the Tonkotsu Ramen and it was excellent! The soup was really tasty and the noodles were not too hard. Prices are affordable and waiters are very nice. You can not leave London without visiting this place if you like ramen!
S. W.
Delicious ramen and drinks!
I haven't found many ramen restaurants where I actually like the flavours outside Japan; however, I really enjoyed the ramen here, especially with the addition of a hanjuku egg.
I would recommend the Umeshu for anyone wanting to try an authentic but fruity sake.
Polite and attentive staff made my experience lovely.
P. S.
The place is amazing the food was great, the staff we're really lovely and nice people, especially when it came to explaining the food and what's in it, also with having the idea and care to ask for allergies, even with the masks on I can tell alot of them had lovely smiles whenever they gave us service.
D. A.
I have been to many ramen shops around London and this have been my favourite since my first visit couple of years ago. My wife was immobile at the first half of her pregnancy and as soon as doctor said she should be walking, our first visit was to this beautiful restaurant. As of yesterday, I have tried all ramen (apart from veggie and cold ramen) on the menu and I can say that there is no favourite as I enjoyed every single one of them. Thanks for the great service!
E. F.
Have been to Kanada-ya for a few years now and sadly it seemed the quality has gone down from the impeccable perfection earlier on to now being passable. It’s a real shame…
J. S.
One of the best Ramen places in london. All of their locations are equally good and their service is great as well. A must go to place for Ramen lovers in london. Spicy Yuzu with Karaage as a side is my reccommendation out of their menu even tho all of it is good.
E. B.
Kanada-Ya was the first ramen restaurant I went too 3 years ago when I visited London for the first time and they still make great Tonkotsu ramen. My girlfriend and I also had karaage with our meal which tasted delicious. The only thing I wish I could change about the restaurant is the size because it feels quite cramped for a very popular ramen stop. I also had my meal initially mixed up with another person not in our party that had to sit at our table because of the space. It doesn't feel particularly nice to have to wait several minutes after my girlfriend receives her bowl to get a bowl and have it taken away due to mistake. Overall though, I still think this is a great place to get quality ramen.
A. M.
Our second visit was a bit disappointing as we didnt felt the service was as good. My wife ordered ramen to be soft ehile it wasnt very soft. Our rice ball came late and we ordered 4 only 2 made it on the table. We were given 2 glasses of water while we were 3 people. Not sure if i would go back again.
M. H.
Probably the best ramen in London. Very authentic location inside and great staff. Make sure to order the extra egg and their special Japanese drinks. If you love good Ramen and live in London this place is perfect because it offers you a stamp card for a free ramen.
B.
Only gone here once but man it was outstanding, I had pork ramen and wow its one of those scenarios where you wish you had a larger stomach however my stomach is still incredibly small so I couldn't finish it but man it was fantastic. Price was good as well matching the large chain brands but at quite superior quality.
R. D.
Genuine service, the waiter who served us was well beyond expectations with his mannerism. The noodle itself tasted fresh and not over powering. The soup tasted authentic. Price was also reasonable for the West End.
D. S.
Great Raman. Really doesn't need to many words. Of you can get to the original, do that but otherwise, just get here!
P. T. (.
Small queue formed outside the restaurant shortly before midday Saturday opening time so obviously this place has a reputation, and for me this is somewhat earned but not entirely.
I didn't have to wait long for the Chashu-men ramen (pork bone broth) and green tea. The ingredients were nice and the soup was pleasant but I don't think it really did anything to stand out; the pork collar wasn't particularly succulent. Not at all bad, but I've definitely had better. The green tea was weird; it was all natural with the herbs still in the tea pot but it tasted a little pungent. Maybe it was just me but I wasn't a big fan.
The restaurant was nice enough, staff were pleasant and helpful, and service was quick. I don't agree with the general consensus as to how great this place is, and at £13 just for the ramen I don't think the price is justified. However, aside from the tea I can't say any of the experience at Kanada-Ya was bad, it just wasn't great.
S. Y.
Standards have slipped compared to previous visits. Broth was much too salty and a few pieces of pork belly were cold. Onsen egg was underwhelming and did not taste fresh. The £10 ramen and drink lunch offer is a nice touch though.
A. R.
This is definitely the best pork-bone based tonkotsu ramen in London. Really thick based w extremely tender pork slices. You can add more ramen if you still have some broth left!
It gets crowded pretty quickly. So if you are going for this branch, try to be there 5-10mins before opening. Otherwise you might have to wait a while. There is another branch in angel that has bigger capacity
E. L.
One of the best ramen in town and one of my favorite locations for a quick lunch in the area. Typically populated with Japanese salaryman at lunch time, the place is small and simple, with a quick service and a short (but good) menu.
Ramen is served quickly, and it tastes good. You can select how cook you want your noodles and you can opt for healthier chicken broth, if pork is not your thing.
Chicken Karage are a must, while the truffle oil edamame are a bit disappointing.
A. H.
Had lunch with my Dad here on Saturday - the staff were super friendly (and didn't mind my poor attempts at Japanese!) and the food was served quickly. The ramen was HEAVENLY. Possibly the best I have ever eaten in my (admittedly young) life. I ordered a Chicken Paitan - the chicken was so tender, it fell apart when I tried to pick it up with my chopsticks. Even though the portions were seemingly small, they were extremely filling. I would LOVE to come back here someday - Arigato and, if you decide to eat here, Itadakimasu!
R. T. S.
The best ramen in England I've ever had. Brings me back to Tokyo. Get their TonkotsuX Ramen, hard, with Tamago and Ma-Yu. Value for your money and service is also unbelievably fast.
E. W.
Nice - and good value. They're usually busy so get there by 6:30pm to avoid long queues. Their menu isn't that big and when I went they were out of the pork bone broth. I had the gekikarra which was pretty good though. I also had the fried chicken with yuzu mayonnaise. It arrived really quickly but suspiciously so which I imagine they had all ready to warm up and go.
It feels a tad chainy, and a bit rushed but we were sitting near the entrance.
It's likely I'd go back, but I prefer their location on st Giles high Street.
C. L.
This is a famous place in London, often described as the best Ramen in town so it's normal to wait a bit before entering. The food was ok but nothing special, we had better Ramen in many other places. The atmosphere is nice , the service is good and the food is not expensive.
L. C.
it's a good ramen place if you like ramen, I suggest pairing your bowl of ramen with a bowl of their chashu rice, dunk the entire bowl of rice in after you finished the Noddle
f.
Me looveeee - need to go again!! Shame it doesnt come with Egg already and wish the pork portion was a bit more but overall so tasty!
J. C.
Recommended by friends. Ramen turned out to be as good as expected, broth was very tasty! Order the noodles hard for the best taste. Karaage was just average. Seating area is very small. Will probably have to queue for a while. Service was efficient.

Amazing ramen over here. Full with enthousiastic Japanese people.
I got to try extremely tasty soups that had a perfect taste balance. Don't forget to order some good drinks as well.
Can recommend for sure!

Best ramen in town! Don't bother with the truffle one, it has little else and the others all come with more pork/veg. The karagge chicken is next level, definitley a highlight when ever I go. Usually a queue to get in but we'll worth the wait.

This is 100% the best most authentic ramen in lonodn. Order tonkotsu X

I was warmly welcomed by the manager, David, who offered us complimentary green tea on this cold and rainy evening. He and the staff were looking after us very well, and the ramen was the best I’ve ever had. Fantastic service, amazing food, would definitely recommend.

Excellent authentic Ramen. I always tell people that this place's is from the ramen capital of Japan called Fukuoka, so forget Bone Daddies - which is not quite Japanese to Japanese people at least.
The owner of Kanada-Ya Panton St is from Hong Kong and he was so kind and thoughtful. He showed us a great hospitality! Will always come back here as this is my most favourite Japanese Ramen restaurant in Europe!

I can't do this place justice with words. You must go at least once (or multiple times...!) if you're a fan of Japanese food. There is usually a queue but staff work hard to make it comfortable and quick.
The ramen is so fresh and so full of flavour, it leaves me so full and satisfied, and even now writing this my mouth is watering. This particular branch does vegetarian and chicken ramen as well, unlike their other branch which is purely pork. As for recommendations, I'd go for Gekikara Ramen if you like spice. Also try the Calpis drink for sure.
The restaurant is quite small, and can feel cramped, but the politeness and friendliness of the staff more then makes up for it. Pricing wise it's about £10-13 for a filling bowl of ramen, so I think it'd pretty cheap. It will run you about £16-18 for ramen, extra noodles (or side dish), and a drink.
M. M.
One of my favorite, or probably my favorite, ramen in London. If you like ramen you have to try it

Sooooo good! Worth the wait trust me!!! Full review and pics on IG: @Chimaican_eats

Awesome in general, and would probably be more awesome hungover. Didn't get to try the truffle ramen but if you like truffle, it smelled awesome. The side dishes are significant as well, you could easily eat karaage & a chasshu Don and be satisfied for under 10 quid. Bargain

Very limited (specialized) menu. The ramen is pretty good. There are many better places for ramen in Vancouver, but this place was ok for London. The thick broths had ok flavors but were not very rich. The cold ramen was quite thin and bland. The pork slices in all of them were tender and tasty. Service was mediocre. The flavors were not what I expected, but again, pretty good for London.

I had the spicy yuzu ramen. It was pretty spicy. I love it how they ask you for different level of "hardness" of the noodles. The additional ginger and spicy pickled greens are delicious too. However, it is not worth queuing for. Go early to avoid the crowd
M. P.
My new favourite ramen - simple small place with friendly service and nice decor and modern japanese music. The tonkotsu-x ramen was tasty enhances by the unique mushroom added to the broth. Authentic noodles cooked to perfection!
Try it out!
Y. C. C.
Delicious ramen. Especially the eggs!!
K. M. L.
Service was quick, Ramen cooked the way you want it, broth was really tasty. The pickled ginger condiment compliments the ramen well. Price is bit much for a bowl of ramen which you would expected in any Soho area.
C. J.
Best ramen I tried so far in London. To me ramen is all about the broth and it was simply just delicious. Be prepare to queue for a short while to get a seat if it's busy
V. C.
Wish I could give it 4.5. But, it's one of the best (if not the best) bowls of ramen in London. I've eaten at Bone Daddies, Shoryu and Ippudo and only Ippudo can even come close. Love that you can request noodle hardness based on personal preference and that they have little help yourself dishes of mustard greens and pickled ginger at every table, reminds me of Japan. Great depth of flavor in the broth (key to any excellent ramen) and noodles cooked perfectly al dente. The egg was excellent, beautifully cooked with a slightly soft yolk and great flavor. Plus, the matcha soft serve at the end was a great way to end the meal - not overly sweet with an intense matcha flavor that I loved.
A. B.
Good ramen, though not my favorite one, as I prefer Ippudo or Shoryu, though this is personal and I encourage others to try all before settling on a favourite. Didn't like the fact that the Tonkotsu didn't include eggs by default (which is usually added by default in Japan), and they charge £2 per egg!
C. B.
Top place for very well made ramen. Staff are pleasant and while seating is limited, the turnover is high due to the quick service. Ramen bases here are pork or chicken (or both), and the pork and noodles served with the ramen is good quality. Also a good selection of Japanese whiskeys. Tried the truffle edamame as a side, which were nicely cooked and well salted.
L. W.
The broth was surprisingly unforgettable. The texture of the noodles and char siu were perfect. The location is pretty, with nice light wood planks and booths. I was lucky to miss any lines. Be prepared to have a quick meal and share a table if needed.
D. E.
The BEST ramen in Soho, possibly even London
C. M.
Really good ramen in London, portions are a tad small but really tasty and well done noodles. Would def come back and great for a cold London day. Tad pricey for ramen (10-12gbp for a regular sized bowl), but worth it.
K. B.
Our group of friends have heard such great things about Kanada-ya in St Giles but had been put off by the reports of the queue. We were delighted then, to hear that there is a new branch in Panton St which less people know about and therefore much less chance of queuing. As it was we walked straight in at 8pm on a Saturday night!
The food was good and the service friendly if slightly chaotic; someone on the staff was clearly a Michael Jackson fan as were treated/forced (delete as appropriate) to listen to a whole album. The décor is fresh and clean and it's a great atmosphere to dine as a group.
I can't say though, that this is the best ramen I've ever eaten (I've not tried the 'real deal' in Japan, but have eaten in various ramen bars in London). I ordered the original with an egg whilst the rest of my party tried everything from the chicken to the spicy minced pork. Whilst perfectly pleasant, we all agreed after the meal that it didn't blow us away as much as we were expecting, based on all the reviews we read - in fact those of us who've previously dined at Tonkotsu agreed that the Kanada-ya ramen broth just wasn't as rich and layered in taste, which surprised us.
Outside of the ramen dishes the chicken karaage is good and generously portioned and the truffle edamame slightly addictive. Drinks are relatively uninspiring, except for their sake and whiskey lists.
Pricing is standard for ramen bars in London. You can eat cheaply if you stick to the original and don't add any extra toppings (I was surprised that not even half an egg came with it as standard).
A well executed restaurant and certainly the food is good, but didn't quite live up to the hype.

The ramen was delicious, the staff was very friendly.

A little reminder of japan love this place and always brings back memories of when I visited tokyo dont look alot but damn does it fill you up

A genuine Japanese ramen restaurant in London. The gyoza, ramen, Kara age is what you see/eat in Japan. Recommended, however, it get quite busy and they don’t take you in unless the entire group is present. It’s a small place so be there at the right time to avoid the ques.

Lovely Dinner, quick and amazing customer service.
Sabrina the waitress was incredibly attentive.
High recommend if you love Ramen and Japanese Cuisine.
M. K.
One of the most delicious ramen I’ve eaten so far. Very Japanese atmosphere, little bit small but that adds to the character. Great place overall, recommended.
W. K. L.
Its probably one of the best ramen in London. This branch has a more variety and some side dishes. Service is efficient and food is excellent. Not really a place to hang around. Just eat and go.
J. H.
It was pretty good. The vegetarian ramen (only served at this branch, I believe) uses an intense porcini stock. I do want to applaud them on finding a novel way to get some kind of parallel to the intense umami of the traditional animal based broth. It was surprisingly thick as well - you could have served it as a porcini soup by itself in an Italian restaurant. Somehow though I couldn't quite overcome the sense of it being a bit incongruous - a kind of fusion food - and nice though this was as a one off, I think when I get my occasional ramen craving I'm more likely next time to go for something more Japanese. Other places use a stock for their vegetarian ramen based on more conventional Japanese ingredients like kombu, shiitake etc.
B. H.
Great quality ramen. Probably my favourite in London (and I've tried a few). If anything the staff were a bit inexperienced given that it has only just opened but that is my only gripe with the place and I'm sure it will improve. Try the truffle ramen - it's great.
A. M.
Ramen was okay. Broth was good. The noodles were okay. However, the chashu was over cooked and dry which let down the dish. Overall okay place to eat at.
L. S. S.
There's always a queue so get there early and be prepared to 15 to 30 minutes. Everything on the menu is quite good but the egg that they make is definitely the best of all the ramen shops. However it is extra. The karaage chicken is good too. So is the adamame.
D. A.
The. Best. Ramen. In. UK
Never had stock so thick and delicious.
Poorly ventilated as our table was seated in the basement of the restaurant, we were left sweating profusely while having dinner. The restaurant had only a few tables so I can't imagine how hot it'll potentially get when at full capacity.
Still, would eat ramen and sweat like dogs in the heart of summer than have it anywhere else.
I love you kanada-ya, thank you for that wonderful experience.
S. B.
Kanada Ya, Piccadilly, is a vibrant yet cosy restaurant serving delicious ramen! I was greeted by a smiling, friendly waitress who took my order and served my super tasty Chicken Paitan very quickly! It was by far, the nicest ramen I’ve had in London. I would also recommend the Calpico drink.
A. E.
Great ramen, great service. Would be five stars other than: no hanjuku tamago as standard (I mean, come on, what world are we living in when I don't get a delicious boiled egg built into the price of the meal?) and the sesame grinder was a little coarse. All said and done, probably 5 stars, but I've written this now haven't I?
K. R. A.
Friendly and quick service. Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. My favourite ramen place.
W. P.
Latest addition to the ever growing ramen restaurant scene in London. Broth was tasty and really rich. However still not the best value in London as I prefer mine with an egg as standard. However the matcha ice cream was excellent.
J. M.
Superb service and hearty, flavourful ramen. Do try the fried chicken and yuzu mayo. Also the warm sake. It's all good.
A. G.
If you want to avoid the queues (and there will be) go for lunch at 12pm when it opens.
The signature dish is the Truffle Ramen - It was incredible. I highly recommend getting that dish!
T. B.
Nice and cozy place.. may have to wait sometime to get a table due to the crowd.
N. P.
The vegetarian ramen was excellent and this restaurant has a lovely atmosphere with good service. Adding an extra portion of noodles to your noodles as their about to run out is a great option to have.
R. F.
We were two people and had to wait about 20-30m in line - pretty good for such a popular place I'd say. We had spicy yuzu and gekikara with eggs, and karage. The noodles, soup, egg and karage were amazing! Particularly the karage crispness was outstanding.
Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars is the pork: it was very thin and brittle and not as tasty. This is def personal preference, but in my experience they're usually thicker and juicier.
R.
I give 5 stars for the ramen straight away, it was perfect as I expected(hearing from review and friends) , only disappointment is, they did not have tonkotsu soup at the time, which is why I came to try in the first place. I settled for standard chicken/pork Broth with Chiarshiu and additional nitamago, menma, nori etc. Second disappointment is that waiter (must be a new guy) although friendly did not have much clue of the food he is supposed to serve. When he recommended me additional egg, I asked him what is it like, his cheeky answer was: " it so wanderfull, that I am not even going to tell you, you gonna love it!" haha, true, I loved the egg and even more I liked his sense of humor, but seriously as a customer one would expect better answer then that. I will definitely come back, when I finally get my tonkotsu soup and after checking (testing) Waiters knowlage again( if improved) I will give 5 stars for overall. See you again.... Coming soon, but I am not even going to tell you when, its gonna be wanderfull, you gonna love it! BTW, pink pickle is called Beni-shioga and it's a ginger, please explain that to your staff as well..... 😉

Absolutely delicious! Never disappoints

Best ramen joint along with its sister restaurant in St Giles in London, only one that comes close is Ippudo (sp?). The Chashumen is my choice, along with the seasoned egg. Have it with salmon or tuna nori as a starter, truly the best I've had on my ramen quest around the UK (mainly London).
E. A.
The best ramen in London ever. They bring Japan to your feet. And the staff, they are amazing people. Having these guys serving you makes the soup even better!

Food not too bad, authentic Japanese ramen but my family didn't say it was anything impressive. Service charge was high but service we received wasn't any good. Got the cold response when asked if they have wifi. I think shops these days should have wifi"for guest" if not theyre outdated. 3 star coz of service.
O. C.
Luscious broth, great service. Slightly expensive.
J. G.
Heard there's always a queue, and you can't book a table so you have to wait, check out their other location near Picadilly, or come back another time (and wait then instead...). We visited slightly later on Monday with a ~20 minute wait in total but the queue is well heated by electric heaters outside (under the awning so some further weather protection) and we had plenty to catch up on conversationally so the time passed quickly enough.
Soup was very good! A choice of noodle hardness, I went for extra hard out of curiosity and they can always make it softer but not harder of course (they recommend just plain "hard", probably what I'll do next time), the pork option had thin slices of good tasty pork lining the bowl reaching out above the soup and to the top of the bowl. The (sushimi) sides were mostly a bit salty rice for my liking, but very pretty with the purple coloured shreds. Ume ok (sour plum), Sake (salmon) was best of the two I had - all quite filling, a sizeable chunk of rice.
A tightly packed place, we were up against one wall with not much table space, but it was enough - the central tables would be better for larger groups if you are ready to wait for them to be free. Ceiling is mirrored and the spherical lights hanging down at different levels do make the interior more interesting. If the food was only okay, I'd be giving only 3 stars. If the rice wasn't so salty and there was more space and less queueing it'd be 5.
J. E.
A great second location for what is, I think, easily the best ramen in London. Always a queue outside, but worth it for once. The truffle ramen here is delicious and the matcha soft serve ice cream is a must.
K. C.
Small place, often have to wait. But it's worth waiting for. Food is always super yummy. Service is excellent. David - one of the managers is one of the best I ever met. Always kind, fiensly, accommodating and provides superb service. Fantastically professional man. Best ramen place in town in my books
L. B.
My first London ramen experience started here. Often came back as my go-to option. Broth and ramen are very nice -especially love their truffle ramen the best.
A. S. C.
Excellent as every. A little larger than might be ideal, but the ramen and kara age (as well as paired sake selection) is still excellent. Second-best ramen-ya after their first shop.
E. R.
Food was very good, guy serving seemed lost, gave our order to someone else and didn't apologise...(?) the waitress was very nice to us and very helpful, she deserves 5 stars!
S. L. (. N. M.
The chief was able to tailer the soup with less oil.
Very apiece.
Deep fired chicken was good price but not much meat.
Store cleaness needs a bit improvement.

Tonkotsu ramen tasted good, nice thick broth. Staff Was friendly. I think 2 pound for an extra egg is a bit too much.
J. P.
I thought it was best one in london!! haha!!

My wife is Japanese, we go to Japan often. It's nice to find a Japanese restaurant that serves food in the UK that's this good. Their all you can eat for a set price is a pretty good deal.

Finally, a vegetarian ramen option at this branch of Kanada-ya, which is quite good, just lacks something chewy to complete the sensory experience. Service is efficient and friendly, so If they expand their vegan offerings, I will give Kanada-ya top marks.
D.
One of the best meals I've ever had, and perfectly served by Ella..
K. T.
This is EXACTLY the kind of authentic, flavorful ramen I live for - I'm already dreaming about the next time I visit. The broth is rich, the egg is fantastic (and yummy), and the ingredients are amazing. I got the Spicy Yuzu, which I highly recommend for just the right amount of kick. Can't wait to come back!
a. “. s. t. r. m.
Good food. Reasonable prices. It's a shame everything they have has pork in it.
K. L.
The truffle raman was really nice. I never really like the pork in Ramans but they made them really nice and tender. I managed to finish the whole bowl with nothing left! Would definitely visit again!
M. H.
So nice to be able to Ramen here again!
J. W.
This is THE place to go for Ramen. They'll cook your noodles soft, hard or medium-hard. So many delicious flavours, it just feels super nourishing. I rate it above Shoryu Ramen.
I. K.
Some of the best ramen I have had in London, I frequented this place quite a lot. Highly recommended for tonkotsu ramen.
A. G.
This Kanada-ya and its other branch offer possibly the best ramen in the city. The option to choose how firm your noodles are (extra firm please), rich broth and deliciously cooked eggs mean I nearly always leave room for "kae-dema".
P. A.
GOOD RAMEN, BUT NOT WORTH QUEUEING FOR...
I've thought of trying the original Kanada Ya as it's literally minutes from where I generally work.
But every-time I've passed it people have been queueing to get in and I simply don't have either the time nor the inclination to hang around, especially not at a lunch time.
So when they opened this second outlet on Panton Street, I thought finally, we can try what all the fuss has been about. But even here it's not been an easy task. Though not because of queues but because of opening hours.
They actually shut at 15:00 and don't open again until 17:00, I think it makes sense at their original venue as it's so small, but on Panton Street, it makes little sense at all, as they miss so much walk in trade. I ended up discovering they were shut twice and made no further attempts until this visit.
This was to be a pre-theatre dinner before watching Who's Afraid of Virginia Wolf in the Harold Pinter Theatre (The Comedy Theatre to Londoners) literally a few doors down.
We arrived and were ushered into the basement, where we were told, we could sit where we liked. The venue was busy but by no means heaving and it was 18:00.
The decor is spectacularly underwhelming and clearly little money has been spent on design or construction. It does give it a rustic realism that seemed apropos in respect to the kind of food on offer.
Me and my friend were both slightly bemused by the difference between the Tonkotsu and the exclusive to London Tonkotsu X. So we ordered one of each.
This was very good ramen, meat wonderfully cooked, deliciously rich, but the acrrutements of were much needed for my preference of spice.
I being the Londoner had the Tonkotsu X (£10.50) which was lighter in constituency but more complex in flavours. My friend the venue signature dish the standard Tonkotsu (£10.50). I had a pint of KIRINI Ichibanshibori Draught lager (much better than it's bottle version though at £6 one would hope)
The food was great, the restaurant basic, the service acceptable.
If you like Ramen definitely go, but don't be fooled by the queues... It's good, but not that good.
R.
Food was tasty and really enjoyable but not great value for money. There wasn't much in the bowl other than soup but what was there was delicious. Service was a bit cold and drinks expensive. Then again I'm still giving 4 stars so I must have really enjoyed the food.
R. M.
Very good broth and ramen, it could have been better with a little bit more of meat (there were only 4 very little and thin slices) and an egg in the standard dish (2£ for one egg seems a little bit too much)
F. M.
Average menu, not much to chose from. I've tried several other ramen places in London and I'm afraid Kanada-ya is not one of the best, i.e. quantity and quality of food. Still needs improvement.
D. T.
Only one choice of vegetarian ramen, should put atleast one more, but trust me that's the best vegetarian ramen you will eat in London. Long wait for dinner time so better go earlier
X. Z.
Ordered chashu ramen. The tonkotsu base soup was really good. It's rich in flavor yet not too strong or salty to be annoying. The fried lotus root was nice, too. The salt on edamame is not necessary in my opinion.
D. P.
Didn’t try the ramen but what I did try was just wow !
J. T.
This is a must place to go to. I rarely ever write reviews but this place has me in awe.
Staff present the best of services on top of their fresh authentic ramen dishes.
If anything, pricing could be better but it's the city so it's still reasonable for what it is
O. S.
Great broth, tasty noodles, friendly staff.
E. T.
The second Kanada-Ya branch also did not disappoint. The queue was 2 hours long for 50% off food (ends this Friday 4/12/15). It was nice seeing the owner with his red headcloth standing at the door as well!
Karage is a good item to order, juicy, succulent fried chicken. They don't serve this in the first branch on St Giles. 3 pieces of chicken per dish.
Green tea comes in little red or black teapots (one pot per person)
Charshu Men comes with so much pork and is for those who likes a non spicy soup base.
I got the Gekikara which is pretty spicy, comes with charshu and also minced meat. Eggs must be ordered separately for Charshu Men and Gekikara and they are worth the order. Went for hard noodles but the star of the show here aren't the ramen, but the meat and eggs :)
Service is pretty good. Happy days.
Y. O.
Good Ramen! Much better than others that I have tried in London. Staff are courteous, place is a little clamped but does create a that Japanese atmosphere! Good outlet, recommended!
I. P.
One of the few places in London worth queuing for (and we've never had to queue longer than 10 minutes). Delicious ramen and with some really nice sakes to chose from.
J. M.
Stopped by for lunch here fairly early on the day (prior 1230pm). There wasn't a wait for two but the lines started to get quite significant at around half past twelve. Tonkotsu ramen is a must here.
M. J. M.
The waitress said the wait time was 15 mins but ended up being closer to half an hour. When seated it took a long time for someone to take our order and when the food came it was just ok. There were several empty tables that needed to be cleared and a big line outside. The staff didn't really have any sense of urgency. Not worth the wait.
H. H.
Authentic tonkatsu ramen. They don't take reservations so go early if you don't want to wait for a table. Get a card and they'll stamp it each time you have ramen. With 8 stamps you get a free ramen and matcha ice cream.
H. W.
Yuzu ramen is really good!
A. T.
The ramen is great, but sadly the restaurant is not accessible for wheelchair or low-mobility diners. Also, no vegetarian or vegan option unfortunately.
A. C.
Ramen was good, but the noodle tastes too tough despite I asked it to be cooked for longer. Seems the restaurant try to rush customer (long queue outside)

Small, authentic ramen restaurant just off Picadilly, offering a short but well-chosen menu of Ramen, goyza and sake. Has a downstairs area with extra seating.

Really good ramen, quick service, reasonable prices, for london

This is Very Good Ramen.
Extra noodles for a couple of quid though is daylight robbery. Most places in Tokyo would do you a Kaedama for free.

By far the best ramen restaurant in London in my opinion. The broth is like the soul of a bowl of ramen and the tonkotsu broth from Kanada-Ya is simply unbeatable. Still some distance comparing to the ones in Japan though

Excellent ramen and service. Wish the portions were bigger!!

It's my second time at Kanada-ya (Piccadilly this time) and I have to say this is one of the best Tonkotsu ramen I ever had. Queues are big in any branches so come early.

Ramen good but there's a lot of damp and odd smells

Ramen good. Takana also good. Lunch menu is "ramen + free drink" which is great value.
Karaage unacceptably uses chicken breast, no good at all, also a bit too burned.

Best ramen I've had in London so far, but not sure I ever want to queue for a meal. Still very good ramen though 😊

Tonkotsu was as close to Fukuoka as I've had in London

My Ramen place to go point in London, it is the best for me. Every time I would drink up the soup finish every single noodles, too good to let them go.
