Reviews of Le Colombier
M. W.
What a perfect way to spend an evening. A few minutes walk from the Kings Road in Chelsea this French Restaurant offers an excellent menu of food a good wine list all served by friendly and professional staff. Excellent food, very good wine all in a beautiful setting.
P. C.
One of the best place I have eaten in a long time.
The service is polished but not stuffy.
The clientele were mature with not an Instagram blogger in sight.
The food is stunning. Simple, high quality, well cooked french cuisine. Also very well priced.
The wine list is the real kicker at that place. Possibly the best value wine list in London, the mark up is very reasonable with some real steals. You won’t find a better burgundy in a London restaurant. They also have an amazing selection of 1/2 bottles, which is something you don’t see.

Absolutely excellent in every possible way! Delicious comestibles, very attentive and polite waiters. Didier, the very charming owner, is most caring with a personal touch and generous. My friends and I have always had a sublime, blissful evening. Very decorative food and ornate clever puddings. I highly recommend. Such warmth and ambience too! Not mention the stunning outside but undercover area. Great fun!
Finally, I would like to say merci beaucoup and Happy Birthday to the lovely Didier today!
Hugz from Manthe Penton Harrap.

A place to practise your spoken French with some assiettes francaises on the top of it. Some wine quite expensive, however our Pinot Noir from Bourgogne etait tres bien.

Old fashioned French restaurant, I love it

One of the best places I have been in a very long time. Food was amazing and the staff were as good as they come. Really cant wait for the next time I come. Chapeaux to the whole team!

Simply the best restaurant in London. Elegant in the extreme, well priced, beautifully served, freshest produce and always a lovely atmosphere.
A. U.
you need to go as soon as possible - great food and they do half bottles of wine and service with a, French, smile. outstanding.
K. B.
Genuinely French experience. Good food. Excellent wine list sensibly priced
C. G.
Really recommend this lovely restaurant ! The food is excellent and the service is outstanding !

Managed to get a last minute reservation and so glad I did! The atmosphere is very chic and the staff welcoming and helpful. My girl friend and I absolutely love steak tartar but as she is receiving treatment at The Marsden we felt we should stay away from raw egg and they happily obliged and it was just perfect without. We had a fabulous lunch.

Romantic, rustic, professional service, great French classics, friendly, warm... A must go!

I forgot I was in London. I thought I was in an upmarket French brasserie in Paris. It was THAT good.
J. T.
Excellent cuisine, attentive, helpful and friendly staff. Food was delicious from appetizer to dessert. Excellent wine list. Very nice atmosphere. I recommend dressing business casual or better; we arrived dressed a little too casually for the place as we were tourists.
M. C.
Short menu but superb cooking in French classic sauces, excellent wine list, gets busy at times best to book or go for lunch or early evening they may have space.
J. J.
Still best French food in town; think exceptional rich flavours and amazing indulgent wines. Atmosphere is more older generation than young... but this will always be my go to in London when I want a proper supper!
J.
Amazing French restaurant in a stunning location. The waiters are very professional and knowledgeable, wine recommendations perfect. Some of the tables are outside in front of the restaurant but covered with a heated conservatory which makes it very enjoyable. Guests are mostly well dressed.
J. H.
In it's long history there has never been a time when Colombier wasn't one of the very best restaurants in London. Today was no exception!
C. T.
Wonderful ambience in this local Chelsea restaurant. You really get the feeling they have been doing what they do for years and are really accomplished at it. Very classic french bistro menu and very enjoyable. Most customers were older in this happening little eatery.
A. T.
Reliable, classic, refreshingly unhip, you can’t go wrong here. The regulars who fill the room speak for it. Broad French brasserie menu for all needs, good but unobtrusive service, broad wine list - may it always remain the same.
J. L.
Great restaurant. I really enjoyed the food. The starters were great.
I liked the mains.
The desserts need to be extended a bit
Nice over all atmosphere and ambiebce. I would recommend a second trip
Well done to the owners.
C. R.
Excellent lunch. The food is always good here. I had the chevre to start and my guest had the soup de Poussin's. We both had lobster mayonnaise followed by oeufs a la neige, with Chablis to drink. Sorry no photos.
A. K.
Lovely French restaurant. Great food and good service. My only tip would be to avoid sitting near the radiator as it gets very warm (although the staff quickly turned it off when we mentioned it). Would definitely go back.
B. C.
One of my favourite restaurants.
I was so looking forward to coming back top Le Colombier after "lock-down". The food and service were excellent - happy friendly smiling staff
(even though they had masks on you could feel the friendship). The food was really good, an excellent crab salad, and a fish soup with a great rouille. Then Rognons de veau with a delicious mustarad sauce (something you can't easily do at home) and a splendid veal chop. Rhum Baba and Creme Brulee finished us off ! Will be back very soon.
S.
Fantastic authentic French experience! The steak tartare is the best I have ever tried - no Tabasco needs to be added as flavour and consistency is just perfect! The frites are just like that in Paris! The Champagne is out of the world, in particular the Charles De Cazanove. Staff are very attentive! Can’t fault, highly recommend!
R. V.
To lunch at a favourite place with excellent food and wine. With best friends.
S. L.
The food is usually great, but the steak tartare had too much onions and spice. The onions were too overpowering that it felt like eating a dish of onions. Also, the service between starter and main course was too fast. Lastly, as we were waiting for Uber to arrive one of the managers said we're closing which was unnecessary to mention because we were getting ready to leave and he just needed to be more patient.
C. S.
We have been going here for many many Years. A genuinely French luxury Brasserie, usually full of the indigenous population of Chelsea Square and its environs. Recently survived an attempt to turn it into a residential development. Food quintessentially French, including des crustaces etc, with excellent service. Reasonable value for central Chelsea.
J. H.
Great welcome and that service continued through the rest of the meal.
The food was excellent and we all had different dishes so good to suit all.
The beer was also excellent.
B. C.
I love Le Colombier, the menu has everything on it you would wish to eat. The staff are friendly and efficient. The wine list is excellent and contains several bargains.
Overall one of the best neighborhood restaurants in the whole of London.
D. D.
Great French bistro with a good value wine list and traditional food. Always wonderful grouse when in season. Seared tuna starter is yum too
S. R.
From my experience a full 5 stars
L. J.
Lovely atmosphere, with very good service and excellent cuisine. Nice and spacious with a delightfully charming blend of an English and French feel. Highly recommended
L. B.
This is my favourite spot in town. Proper establishment.
V. E.
A lovely place, in a vey unexpected location.
Great French food and generous serving.
All staff is French or - speaks French. Very traditional and perfect for Sunday lunch with your family.
J. H.
Was here recently invited. Set menu was good, foie gras terrine and perfect fillet of beef. Fraisier strawberry cake for the occasion (birthday) extremely disappointing, sponge was dry and rubbery, not moist with syrup as it should be and not mousseline filling but creme patissiere, too thick and solid. I just ate the strawberries. Service was ok
M. S.
Fabulous French Haute Cuisine
F. W.
I've eaten her a couple of times over the years, the services is always good but the food is outrageously rich, as you would expect.
D. A.
“beautiful day on the terrace”
It was a beautiful day to lunch on the terrace and everything was right with the world. Service attentive and pleasant. Food terrific and we were with a group of friends with whom we just wanted to spend time. It was perfect.
J. S.
Just love this authentic French restaurant. Only the best of everything and always fresh. Excellent wine list. Easy to park in the evening.
R. C.
Probably the best French restaurant in the vicinity. Not cheap, but such quality in that neighbourhood is never going to be cheap and they do have a good-value set lunch.
J. W.
Amazing, authentic and delicious French food. A real joy, with wonderful French staff and an intimate atmosphere. Pricy though...
e. v.
Nice but nothing really over the top more average Snails okay and Lamb was good Actually the real good thing was the Cote du Rhone What I certainly not liked was that I lost my Hackett scarf and nobody has found it apparently Mindboggling and appreciate a reaction
D. R. A.
refined French dining - not the "coolest" place to have dinner as quite sober and upper-lipped crowd - service quasi-formal - good for dinner with the in-laws
J. H.
Wonderful French restaurant in convenient location, with really great private room upstairs for big lunches/dinners, which can seat 20-30 people.
K. 1.
Refined French brasserie with year-round covered terrace, classic cuisine and lengthy wine list.
M. L.

(Translated) Value for money at the top of the quality servers and a most pleasant family atmosphere when there are few people, however a little confusing due to the proximity of the tables when the restaurant is full. Once again a top restaurant for the neighborhood and the quality of its service and products.
