Reviews of Mala Indian Kitchen & Bar

Lovely place with a great atmosphere. Also love their Playlist and the fact that they're dog friendly. The chili paneer was delicious and so soft. Sadly the chicken was well flavored but not cooked super well. Gulab Jamun was delish but wasn't a fan of it with chocolate ice cream personally. Pretty good shisha and drinks too. Would recommend the lychee shisha and lychee martini.

We have enjoyed Indian curry meals in many countries but it was unanimously decided at our table of 4 that this was one of the best any of us have enjoyed.
The flavours were so very well balanced, the portions were bang-on correct, the service very attentive despite the restaurant being full inside and out.
The poppadum bowl was large and enjoyed by all.
Will return.

Great indian food, lovely location on the riverside and sophisticated interior. Waiters were friendly and helpful. Biryanis were the highlight for me.

Really really really really tasty. Fantastic Indian crusine with wonderful waiters and waitresses. Owner was very welcoming and humble. There was a great selection of food, beautiful atmosphere and not to busy. Overall a 10/10!!!. Also wanna thank Vinnie Sandhu the owner for the amazing hospitality.

Amazing!!! Not the cheapest, but definitely one of the very best Indian restaurants in London. Brilliant atmosphere, views and most importantly food. The lamb chops and fish on stater platter were incredible. Main were good size and very tasty (Goan Fish Curry especially so). Staff and presentation immaculate.

Great food with amazing taste. The Only down side was that, my Mango lassi drink was not as expected as the tast was not right. But had good customer service such that my drink was changed.

I was very happy with the food and the service. Their cover outside is also more spacious than most restaurants so if it rains u won't get wet. Food was very tasty. I recommend the onion bhaji and cheese naan. The service was great and they would always checkin to see if we are OK.
My only suggestion for the restaurant is to keep some sweetners for the coffee for those that don't want sugar. So bring your own sweetener.

Walked past this restaurant earlier in the week and noticed that they were advertising a vegan thali so my husband and I booked for Sunday lunch. Absolutely delicious food! All of the dishes served on the vegan thali were amazing - very fresh and perfectly spiced! Came with fresh naan and pilau rice. Very impressed! We also ordered poppadoms and chutneys, which were light and crispy and plentiful. The raspberry Bellini is also fab and the service from every member of staff was brilliant! I am so happy to have discovered this Indian restaurant and we will definitely be going back very soon!

The most magical evening I have had in the longest time. The food was 5*, the service was faultless and the atmosphere was thriving. For tasty authentic food with great cocktails/mocktails this is the place for you. The owner Vinnie added his finesse to top of the evening with his personal service to me and my guests. Completely faultless. Cannot wait to revisit and catch-up. 5☆☆☆☆☆

Had a great team dinner with work colleagues (11 of us). Had never been before but the service and food was amazing. Everyone enjoyed it and left feeling very full! Cocktails were really good too. Look forward to going back.

Took my family out for a meal at Mala in the sunny afternoon. The view from the restaurant was breath taking ! The staff were very hospitable and made us feel so welcome and relaxed. The food was amazing, probably the best Indian food I have a had in a long time . Although all the dishes I had were great , my highlight dish was the prawn poori , definitely a must have on my next visit to Mala.
T. P.
Very accommodating people. Delicious food. Good cocktails. Great location by the river.
They're so friendly to my dog that I'm always feeling like we're wanted in this restaurant.
F.
Excellent starters - esp the prawns and paneer. The taalis are pretty but food could be better for the price. Lovely location.

Loved the food and atmosphere at Mala! We had a table which overlooked the River Thames, paired with a lychee martini in hand - it was so lovely.
The Amritsari Cod Fish Pakora and Malabari King Prawn Curry are to die for and I can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the dishes. Thank you for a great evening!

Lovely service. Good drink and view. Reasonable price. Felt very welcome. Nice outdoor area. Will definitely come again and try the food!! 😍

Had an amazing time @malarestaurant with my family last night, the food was exceptional, so tasty and yum, the customer service was on point the staff were very polite and friendly and that beautiful scenery of the River Thames complimented the whole experience. It's family friend had my four kids there and they enjoyed every bit of the evening. I highly recommend trying the Chilli Paneer if you should ever decide to visit the restaurant, that is if you can handle spice lol, hands down it was one of my most favourite dish of the night. Will definitely dine @malarestaurant again.

Indian delecious and spicy authentic food. Beside the river and next to virgin active gym in Westferry circus
Just had lunch with family and famous vegitarian tali wanted to have seafood tali but due to nut alergue we had to skip. Food was good but I think its more like westerners flavour than actual Indian.

Family outing for mother's day
We had lamb cooked in tomato spicy sauce succulent with saffron rice
The samosa so delicious
Barbecued giant prawns never seen tiger prawns so big well cooked and seasoned
I had pineapple juice with coconut with alcohol so nice and refreshing
We had a great day
Very pricey
We are five in total my children and their partners
The bill they gave us was £179 99
They all chirped in to pay the bill all inclusive drinks beer and waiters services
Nice to be pampered

Lovely location. Good service, great authentic Indian food. I am a regular to Malas since their old location at St.Katherine’s Dock.

Great service. Strong and very good cocktails. Generous servings of very good food. Buzzy vibe even on a weekday. Beautiful setting beside the thames

Loved the place and view.. food was so delicious 🤤 Proper Indian taste ... Jessica serve us very friendly she is...Would love to come back..🔥👍🏻 we have ate a lot but I would love to share picture

Truly great experience from start to finish from all aspects. Service is flawless and meat couldn’t be fresher and tender than what they served us! Made our trip worthwhile and fulfilled all expectations thank you so much!
P. S.
Amazing food. Great service. Awesome view. The lunch menu is generous and great value. Highly recommend it!

Hygiene 5*, covid rules 5* , view 5* and food too 5*. Their food quantity is good we couldn't managed to eat all so packed a bit.

I have been a regular customer of their old location, and visited the new restaurant at Canary wharf for the first time. Looks great, ambience and decor done beautifully. However, the food has become a put off, not even a single dish is as authentic as it was anymore. I was a fan of the old food and menu from Mala.
M. B.
Fantastic service. Delicious food. Delightful setting. Have just had the best evening out in Mala. Vinnie and his team are superb. Thank you! We will be back for sure!
D. D.
Great food, really nice location, friendly staff, with some amazing music to complement it all. Had a good time and will certainly go again ☺️

My favourite curry house in Canary Wharf and most of London. Staff are so friendly, atmosphere is great and the food is EXCEPTIONAL!! We eat here every week and still love it as much. Much healthier food than other places.
G. J.
Tried this for the 1st time and loved it. The food was great and genuine Indian food instead of one pot of curry which is utilised for many dishes. As a started I loved the prawn purri. The mains were also very good. Service excellent. There's secure parking nearby if you need it.
T. G.
Wow! Wow! Wow! Did I mention wow? This is now my favourite Indian restaurant. The only gripe I have is that when we wanted the wine menu we received a card with a QR code on it. I know it's modern but please. Anyway the manager/ owner appeared and recommended a red and we ended up having two. The food is absolutely amazing. Sometimes I have curry and it's a little heavy or stodgy. Not here, it's fabulous and the staff and owner are delightful. I can't wait to visit again. Thanks for a wonderful evening.
J. M.
Sat us on table 10cm away from a noisy stag do even though half restaurant was empty. Menus came up covered in curry sauce. Walked out.
N. A.
Thanks to Ash, our kind waiter for such an amazing service. 😊 We were so impressed by your customer handling abilities mixed with brilliant humour. All the best for your masters degree! 🍸
R. A.
Great food (raspberry mocktail also amazing) but best thing was how friendly the waiters were
D. G.
Excellent food and service!
Love the outside patio with not too loud ambient Indian music
G. H.
My first time eating at Mala and it was hands down one of the best Indian meals I've had. The venue is also class. We sat outside and the views were amazing. They had outdoor heaters too, which kept the Mrs happy 😊. To top it off Vinny and all of his staff were so helpful and professional.. 5 STARS *****
R. S.
Amazing buzzing restaurant with a great vibe with probably the best views of London over the Thames.
Six of us came here tonight to celebrate a friend's birthday. Food was tasty plentiful and fresh. Not oily like I usually get in other curry houses.
The service was welcoming. The owner come over to wish my friend a happy birthday with a round of tequila for us all. Nice touch.
Great night out and one to remember. Be back soon

My sister and I had a wonderful experience here last night. The food was delicious, the portions generous (we took loads home, which served as my lunch today), and the wait staff were fun, friendly, and accommodating. We want to shout out Silva, Jonathan, and Simone in particular!
Oh, and the Prawn Poori (Small Plates) was one of the tastiest things I've ever eaten!
t. c.
I have never left a review before to any service! But this place I have to say is by far the best Indian restaurant I have ever visited from the moment you walk through the door the service from all the staff is 1st class and how the hospitality industry should be! But sadly in the UK we struggle with good honest not over the top quality service! But at the Mala it's effortless no rushing no hassle you are made to feel so welcome! As for the food the best ever Indian cuisine I have ever tasted I ate with a smile from start to finish! I can't recommend this restaurant highly enough location perfect food perfect staff perfect and my company tonight my beautiful partner on our 2nd Anniversary simply perfect! One request for the Boss at Mala please put bierra moretti larger on tap!!!
P. K.
first time trying Mala - have to say was very pleased - the food is excellent. Would highly recommend. such a nice setting too, we sat outside as the weather was lovely - right by the river. Will defiantly go again.

Wonderful food with fantastic Riverside location with large outdoor terrace. Not cheap, but excellent quality.
A. W.
Fresh, colourfull, we had the set menu, which was perfect.
D. S.
Delicious food, great views, and the owner and his team are very kind and accommodating!
K.
Ordered a takeaway from here and it was amazing! Delicious food. Will definitely order again
L. M.
After coming here several times, I must say this is probably my favourite Indian restaurant in London. The dishes are so tasty! The service level is also very high and consistent, plates and decor are very tasteful - very high quality in every aspect. I totally recommend it. My favourite dishes: paneer (grilled), himalayan aloo tikki chaat. Just one request: please bring back the bhindi fries!!! They were soo good
M. C.
Lovely food. Great decor with view out to the Thames.
S. M.
Fantastic location, service was great even though it was packed.
Great to see familiar faces from their old location, and even better that the food was just as good.
D. R.
I was shocked at how authentic the food tasted. Absolutely amazing!!!
The staff were so friendly and helpful and really made us (including my puppy) feel so welcome.
Margarida, Mayte and Fabio - you guys are awesome!!! Thank you so much- we will definitely be back again!
R. A.
Great food but the best thing was how friendly the waiters were

So happy to hear Mala is back in town after a move from St. Katherine's Dock. I've been a few times to the old branch and had the pleasure of visiting the newly renovated restaurant in Canary Wharf. We had a birthday celebration and we were accommodated wonderfully with dinner being a fabulous experience. Would recommend a visit, thank you again Mala!
E. P.
Food was amazing! The place is beautiful and the staff is very friendly… Cristina served us incredibly well, she was very patient in explaining the menu. Highly recommended.

Wowwwww what the night. It was an unexpected evening. Great service, amazing food and owners very friendly and welcoming.
Will be back for sure.

Really great place, food is delicious, cocktail that I tried was lovely and the staff is really nice.
Minus one star for the over charging on the wine.
S. P.
Came in today with some friends, the food was just lovely, the service was efficient and friendly.
Will definitely come back!
Highly recommended if you like spicy Indian food accompanied by an incredible view of London's skyline!

Mala - set on the banks of river Thames with sweeping views of river Thames, attentive staff, delightful interiors and great food everytime!
The chef makes delicious rotis and parathas , fresh and authentic curries!
The bar serves a great variety of drinks and cocktails too!
All in all a real gem in a great setting…

The food last Saturday lunchtime was outstanding, honestly. The dal in the vegetarian thali was stunning and the aubergine and okra dishes perfectly cooked. Meat eaters won't be disappointed either as those in my party had similar praise to mine. Our friendly waiter turned out to be the owner - who didn't make a point of saying until I asked - and the other waiters were genuine lovely. Many thanks.
A. M.
Love this place. Have been enjoying delicious food from Mala for years (even followed them from their St. Katherine dock location). I have never had a bad meal from here and cannot recommend them enough. Best curry in London!
S. B.
Would give it 5 stars if the poppadoms were hot, they seemed a little stale. The drinks weren’t brilliant and the pilau rice and butter chicken lacked real flavour. The prawn starter however was brilliant.
Service was fantastic, so was happy to pay the 12.5% charge.
K. C.
Food was amazing, got two starters and the kebab platter, staff was super friendly but music is too loud and very stressful...
T. C.
Chicken Biriyani was amazing. Friendly service 👌
H. K.
Went to Mala on the weekend for the first time and must say will definitely go back! The food was fantastic - the prawn poori was the best I've ever had! The staff were wonderful and friendly and a lovely touch by the owner to come and have a small chat with us and wish my friend a happy birthday, very friendly. There was some issues with the alarms and the coffee machine so we weren't able to have a coffee to end the evening however that didn't dampen the evening as everything else was lovely. Didn't not feel rushed at all.
I. Y.
Delicious Indian food and amazing service. The staff are so friendly and helpful.
M. L.
Visited one evening and dined outside with the family on the terrace which is a real treat by the river. We ordered Mala Kebab Platter - really nicely spiced range of kebabs; Garlic Naan, Goan Cod Curry, Biryani, and a Rogan Josh. All very tasty and well cooked. Alas some on the party don't cope with chilli well and even though they made some of the curry's very mild was still a little too hot for them! Call out to the team there as my son has allergies that they dealt with really well, checking with the kitchen continually on the dishes, ensuring he understood what he could and couldn't eat and cooking an off the menu dish for him. Thanks!
j. k.
One of the best Indian restaurants we have been to! Service was amazing and attentive. The pinar and onion bhajis were the best I've had, highly recommended and a beautiful view of the Thames to enjoy!
A. T.
Had a delicious thali with cod. Pricing is a bit steep but the meal was delightful. Pleasant outdoor seating by the river. Very attentive and friendly staff
Х. Д.
Visited the restaurant yesterday, a constant guest at Mala!! The food is as always delicious but what surprised me the most is that you can now smoke Shisha on the terrace. Will say the truth, before I’ve tried couple of Shishas on Edgware road and never have been a fan. But today’s experience has truly changed my opinion about shisha and I will for sure return.
P.S Indian food and shisha is ONE LOVE!!!

Best restaurant i have been to so far. The food was so flavourful infact I wanted to order more even when I was extremely full. They really looked after us. We went as a birthdU surprise and the restaurant ensured that the birthday girl had the best time.
Beautiful Views, amazing service. The staff were so attentive, amazing. Im definitely going there while the lockdown is uplifted. Dont miss out on this restaurant.
Thinking of going again this weekend. The lamb curry wow. Never tasted lamb that tasted that good.
Best restaurant so far and in so glad I chose to do the birthday surprise there.
J. B.
Stunning restaurant in a stunning location serving exceptional food alongside warm and friendly service.
Go for the Thalies which is a steel platter that served a generous assortment of curries, rice and naan bread. Very delicious and filling.
look forward to our next visit.
M. H.
Quite decent, but not great Indian food - while it's better than a Brick Lane curry (it better be at twice the price), it's nowhere near the top Desi restaurants in London.
Service-wise it was very haphazard, the waitstaff were clearly inexperienced (possibly newly hired after the winter lockdown?), plus the restaurant had no menus, instead only QR signs that point you to browse the menu on their website - which works quite badly on a tiny phone screen.
Food-wise, the curries and the naan were quite good, but the thali disappointed with only some basic raita and unimaginative dry salad beyond the small meat and potato curries.
T. R.
Tried Mala for the first time today and was very impressed. Obviously they are only offering takeaway at the moment, but looks like they have a full menu. We had a tikka wrap which was very nice, particularly the naan. We also had prawn puri which was a very generous portion. Veg samosa was good and we also had chili chips which were very nice too. It's a bit more pricey than your average Indian takeaway, but it's very good quality and a lovely location right on the river path. Would definitely recommend.

I have been a customer of Mala for over 5 years & the food just keeps getting better. Whether its for a family outing or a Corporate Night out, the Fine Dining experience is second to none. The staff are always friendly and forthcoming, often ensuring guests and myself are kept warm, the take aways has been consistently on point during the covid 19 pandemic, the Mala riverside views and experience is a perfect first date venue for any blossoming relationship. I would recommend the prawn puri, the chicken handi with extra spice & the Epic Thalis. Not only is the haute cuisine great for value , the opening of this Fine Dining restaurant has enormously increased the pull factor for residents wanting to enjoy the best of riverside living and riverside dining. Thank you Mala. Your team are the Best !
M. M.
I went there with 9 friends we all had a great time. The food was fantastic and so were all the staff, the location is spot on with lovely views. I would definitely recommend it 10/10

Excellent Indian food and beautiful river side view ..best for lunch thali menu ...and dinner I am yet to try
