Reviews of Margaux
O. M.
Great food! Really good experience at Margaux - everything tasted really good! They have a private dining room downstairs too which you can reserve with a three course set menu. Wines were good too. The chocolate bombe dessert was really good. Overall very good!
K. S.
Despite the limited menu, every single dish I had tonight was spot on. The seared foie gras was very delicious and the roasted rack of lamb was nice and tender. The lamb croquette was another major plus point. Overall I would say it was definitely good value for money!

This restaurant became one of my top 5 restaurants in London!
Starting with their humble atmosphere that does not fail to deliver all the comfort and ambient you need from a place to dine in, they have a modern design and a two level service space.
Their food is magnificent, there was not even one thing that I could say is average! They were all perfectly done, beautifully plated and amazingly serviced!
Among all great food they served,Their signature one for me was the ‘Foie gras’!
M. T.
Good service, unpretentious atmosphere, cosy food, but average for the price. We had duck and chocolate bomb, which were very tasty, but foie gras and beef bourguignon could be more flavourful in my opinion.
J. S.
Fantastic food, really tasty and freah. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. A bit pricey but worth it
J. M.
Beautiful little and romantic restaurant in Old Brompton with nice food and wine menu.
Excellent service and prices in line with the market for this type of restaurants in Kensington.
Great suggestion from my girlfriend for which we will definitely come back!

Brunch was good and service was fast. Shame that the coffee & tea machine was broken though and an extra poached egg was added to our bill without us actually asking for it. All in all, still a decent experience for a brunch in West London.
F. S.
Outstanding level of cookery! Superb menu, every plate we tried was delicious. Congratulations to the chef and service team. This is the best kept secret in Chelsea! I've been here 5 or 6 times and I never get tired. Great job!!
Y. B.
Incredible food and incredible service in an intimate gorgeous space! I had my birthday dinner here and was able to use the private dinning room to celebrate with my guests. Everyone was so kind and made my day so special —from details on the menu, to the tablescape, to even assembling my cake and bringing it out right on time to surprise me. Could not have asked for a better space and team! Thank you all so much and can’t wait to come back!
j. c.
Very nice food and great service! Good portion.

we had a somewhat unpleasant experience last week, and we just walked out... HOWEVER, the manager called the next day and was mortified about our experience and was very apologetic, we live close by and decided to return as he was so nice about everything … we had a super dinner this evening, great food and lovely service. I would recommend eating upstairs if you can get a table, the food is the same but the atmosphere is nicer. Thank-you Jose and team, we’ll be back again.

Visited here for my fiancés birthday! Truly amazing food and service! Vasko was very attentive and welcoming. The atmosphere was great and I truly recommend to all
K. G.
The food was delicious and our waitress (didn't catch her name but she was from Portugal!) was absolutely brilliant. Very impressed with the dishes we ordered and with the service, ambience and overall dining experience. Could not recommend more and we'll definitely be back!
M. B.
Best eggs royale we've ever had! Great spot for a quick and well priced brunch but the à la carte menu looked much pricier. Good service in a cosy corner of South Ken. (Pictured: 2 eggs royale, eggs benedict, avocado tartine)
G. G.
Had the duck and the chocolate bomb. Duck was well cooked and tender but the one issue is that the carrot puree is really small. It is more a decorative element rather than an accompaniment. The chocolate bomb is really delicious, there is a mixture of textures and the warm chocolate and cold pistachio ice cream are symbiotic.
B. A.
Fantastic food, extremely reasonably priced for the quality and great atmosphere. Don’t be put off by the exterior! We had a wonderful dinner here, a great mix of French with some Mediterranean influences (not as weird as it sounds). The gnocchi was the real highlight - order it if you can. Deserts were also sensational. They are busy so worth booking.
S. M.
Fairly limited menu but enough variation and quality. Decent cocktails and wine selection. Generous portions, attentive staff, pretty much everything you would expect from an upscale Chelsea restaurant.
D. C.
Seabass ceviche was full of flavour and the textures of the diced red peppers and sweet potatoes elevated the dish. The duck breast was delicious although the portion was on the smaller side. The roasted seabass main was fresh but I had to send it back because it was over cooked with soggy skin. The redo was ten times better.
The chicken was a disappointment, it was more like a teriyaki chicken. It was way too sweet. We could not taste the ginger and lemongrass.
Later towards the evening the restaurant got busy and staff were strained. Overall we had a good evening.
B. S.
Great food and service, highly recommend.

I attended this restaurant yesterday evening with my partner to celebrate our anniversary after reading some of positive reviews, and I must say the restaurant absolutely lived up to the positive words that have been left on here.
The food was superb, I had the salmon tartare to start and the beef filet for my main meal- both were absolutely sublime. My partner had the burratina to start and one of the members of staff kindly let him swap out the beetroot for tomatoes with no hesitation when he asked if the dish already came with tomatoes and was told it didn't (so accommodating!). He too, had the beef filet for his main meal, they were both cooked perfectly and tasted exquisite!!
The drinks were fantastic, I had an excellent cocktail to start and then we went through two bottles of pinot grigio throughout our meal which we thoroughly enjoyed.
The staff were so friendly and accommodating through our whole stay at the restaurant which ended up being 4 hours! (we arrived at 8pm and were one of the last tables to leave at 12pm). I would love nothing more then to come back to this fantastic restaurant, take my advice and book asap! You will not be disappointed.
I am not one for writing reviews but this restaurant is fantastic so I had to share our experience!
B.
Had a marvellous lunch at Margaux and loved the industrial interior design.
Definitely worth the visit, the food was just delicious and the service great
Thanks to all the team.

First meal on our recent trip to London. This is a lovely neigbourhood small restaurant. Nice and quick service, good food ( we had the excellent boeuf bourguignon and the coquilles St-Jacques )
but on the expensive side.
A bottle of still water at 4.50 and bread and butter at 3.50 £ ! At least we learnt to order tap water for the rest of our trip :)
Recommend ? Yes but mind the prices...
Come back ? Not sure for now unless we are in the same area and crave for boeuf bourguignon or some French cuisine.
G. O.
Had a lovely time with my friend and her sister for her birthday. The food was amazing, the staff was welcoming and friendly and the decor and atmosphere was fantastic.
S. D.
Outstanding service, excellent cuisine, fabulous cocktails & wine list. A foodies heaven!
G. i.
Foie gras, beef bourguignon and creme brulee was incredible. Honestly amazing. Staff were very polite and seemed to genuinely care whether you enjoyed it. Makes me disappointed knowing anything I’ve ever made doesn’t even touch the sides of how good the bourguignon was 😂.
V. E.
Super friendly staff. Great little outdoor sunny terrace. Nice for brunch… and the crab tortellini are a winner!
B. V.
Decent restaurant. We were sat downstairs near the kitchen entrance. The clinging cutlery and background kitchen noises were annoying every time the door opened. The place was fully booked so we couldn’t change seats then. Our waiter focused on one guest from our party of four. I think he had a crush on her and it my have been distracting for him. He got the wine wrong, the mash ordered was delayed and he only asked her how her food was. He did bring in some additional bites to the table while we waited ‘’because of her’’ The food was satisfactory in terms of flavor and filling. Service from other waitresses was good. I may return but not desperate to.
T. R.
Compliments for French cuisine served and for the nice service. Excellent place for fine dining or just for a glass of wine.
K.
Nice upscale french restaurant, large wine list, nice selection of entrees. Had the venison filet and my wife had the beef filet and we were both impressed. Definitely on the more expensive side entrees range from approx £20-35.
B. A.
A nice little restaurant with most welcoming staff. Enjoyed delicious white wine from Chile with some seafood which didn’t disappoint. Wasn’t too hungry but when I saw they do millefeuille for a desert, I had to order. Layer after layer of crisp, crackling pastry, sandwiching rich crème pâtissière.
One of my many weaknesses.
What a great evening! Brought to life by the dying embers of the sunshine, for one spectacular golden hour. Enormously romantic!
H. E.
Wonderful Cerviche with a robust selection of wine. Weren't planning to eat but restaurant is only partially licensed, so some food is required to enjoy the excellent ambiance Margaux is facilitating.
H. P.
Fabulous service and exceptional food. Truly enjoyed my Foie Gras starter whilst the steak was good it was not as good as my friends king fish which I'll be having next time.
Sadly the sorbet was too sweet and not refreshing. A poor finish to an otherwise fabulous meal
S. T.
Food was delicious, staff was very professional in special the manager Jose
T. L.
Really great food, definitely recommended. It’s dog friendly too!
A. S.
Nice atmosphere, excellent food where everything on the menu is good, so you can’t really go wrong for a dinner option.
R. C.
Amazing food and great wine. The service was incredible - will definitely be back! Also, try the chocolate dessert 😍
C. K.
We had a very large table and each meal was deliciously prepared - the ambience was tip top
m.
I am giving Margaux a 5 for the kind and excellent service.
Margaux is a highly versatile restaurant, could be good for a nice meal with a friend or a lunch with a client like was my case. The night before my reservation I unfortunately came up with a stomach bug but couldn’t cancel lunch and asked the restaurant if it would be ok to bring my own meal not to make it awkward with my client. They made all the necessary arrangements to make it work in a safe fashion so it wouldn’t be weird for me to sit there without anything to eat. Unfortunately I couldn’t taste anything from the incredible wine list and therefore will have to go back! My client had the roasted chicken with sweet potato and she was very happy.
Elegant yet down to earth ambiance, highly recommend.
D.
Excellent food. We bought dinner online during the 'Lock Down' on a Sunday evening.. It looked good, it sounded good and it tasted good. Quite well presented bearing in mind it had to be sent in disposable cartons...which we ate out of!' We'll order again and visit the resto once things get back to normal.
G. D.
Dispointing, but not the worse. I had a mozzarella entre that came with some kind of artichoke which completely overpower the already quite bland mozzarella. Then had the beef Bourguignon which was quite good (a dish from my region so not easy to satisfy me on this!). Nice establishment and good staff. My partner felt disappointed as well, thus 3 stars.
j. w.
Great staff and excellent food! French bistro with good wine list. Will definitely come back!
S. S.
I found this restaurant online and we decided to check it out for lunch. Posh but chic interiors with nice comfortable seats. The menu is a mix of French and Mediterranean and they have a multi course liunch offer. There is also a decent wine list here and other choices of drinks.
We had the cauliflower veloute to start and it was delicious with a bit of goat cheese and black truffle. The main was beef bourgungon and it was also very nicely cooked and the meat was tender.
Service was nice and overall it was a nice lunch experience I would repeat again.
A. P.
An excellent modern french restaurant that is at its best when they are taking classic French dishes on an international adventure.
The quality of the cooking is excellent as is the service. The decor won't be too everyone's taste but it works with the food. Wine selection, as you might expect from a restaurant named after a varietal, is very good.
Overall, this is a great place to enjoy great food with friends. Well worth it.... it's actually good value when you look at the quality.
P. H.
Lovely tradition French.
Excellent wine.
S. B.
Pretty good for me. My cousin got a teeny tiny lamb shank but it was at least tasty and I enjoyed being able to mock him about it. Wine, service and setting were pleasant too. In general a good spot but I don’t see myself rushing back.
D. B.
The food, venue & service is superb
The only slight criticism is the portions are to small especially the lamb.
The chocolate bomb is better than the Ivy
A. W.
This food, ordered via delivery tonight under lockdown, caused a rather hilarious argument between my partner and me about whether the split of the tarte tatin and accompanying ice-cream was actually a true and correct equal division between us, right down to the last insanely divine drizzle of caramel sauce, which ended in me saying (possibly very loudly) that we should have ordered two. Everything we had was absolutely delicious.
N.
Fantastic food, wine and ambiance. Nothing to fault. Totally recommend this fabulous restaurant.
A. S.
Food and wine was really good. The black squid ink tortellini with crab were awesome, pumpkin risotto too. I had a glass of Hungarian wine which was great to accompany the food. The atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice and modern. Staff is careful and nice.
C.
Top class food and a reasonable wine list - would have been 5 stars but the wine was ok though not fantastic. The range of reasonably priced left-bank Bordeaux wines could be better (there are plenty of options available). The foie gras entree is amazing, as is the gnocchi.
L. H.
Amazing, unpretentious, and laid back. What more is there to add? I came here for dinner based on a recommendation from the internet and I was not disappointed.
The terrine of foie gras was amazing with hints of chocolate and caramel. The duck breast was perfectly cooked and prepared with layers of flavor.
All provided with impeccable service and attention.
A short but well tended wine list to complement the dishes.
Highly recommended.
J. L.
Food nice, but pretty average for the price. Service friendly but slow and brought wrong dishes. Had octopus - touch on the overdone side, lamb - small plate, well cooked but nothing special and tarte tatin - caramel cooked until bitter, soggy pastry and sprig of rosemary on top which made it more bitter overall. Generally a bit “meh”!
J. C.
Great food, great decor. Great service.
Recommend just eating lots of starters, more varied and more intense than the mains. Also get Mo (manager) to recommend wines, he’s knowledgable and may even give you some to taste before recommending interesting paired wines.
TLDR: it’s good. Get the egg starter thing.
Z. B.
Very modern amazing little gem in the heart of London, food is amazing - french, staff is lovely and friendly and I am definitely going back there as I had the most amazing meals here ever, the food is just melting in your mouth with plenty of amazing flavours. Definitely recommend it to anyone! :)
J. K.
Lovely restaurant in a posh part of town. Nice little place downstairs which a friend had booked for a birthday dinner. Very friendly and accommodating staff, excellent food and good drinks. Can't comment on what it would be like for smaller parties, but the food was excellent for a group so assume the same would be the case.
J. P.
Food is amazing! A bit pricy but this is normal when you have this quality on your plate.
D. G.
Cozy atmosphere, with great food and friendly attentive service. Duck, braised beef, and risotto were all amazing. Wine list was very well curated.
B. L.
Great service and good food with nice presentation, albeit at smaller portions for the £££ than one might expect. Nice atmosphere, not stuffy at all. Recommended for Sat night dinner or brunch
J. B.
Foodie in London for the past 3 years and thoroughly recommend this place without a doubt. The service was seamless, the atmoshphere was spot on, the prices were reasonable (including a good range of wine options) and, most importantly, the food was fantastic with the only difficulty being spoilt for choice on the menu!!
F. R.
Pleasant atmosphere, good house white, delicious artichoke soup, poor chicken supposedly marinated in ginger which turned out rather tasteless. Pricey for what we had.
N. J.
Great quality food, but portions and quality have changed since last time we were there in February. Their menu hasn't changed either, and not all ingredients are listed in the menu. However overall good food but slightly overpriced.
R. C.
Had a group dinner here, on a private room. The service was very premium and the food was delicious. Save some room for dessert because it was really good. Beautiful decoration as well
J. E.
Our first time as guests of a good friend. In the business as it happens. Really good. Excellent food. Magic wine list. Exemplary service. What more could one want. Bravo!
A. B.
Ate here with my parents and partner, all had three courses with wine. Each and every course was impeccable, loved each course and all the wines by glass were beautiful. Cannot recommend higher.
A. E.
Beautiful duck, beautiful wine, beautiful setting and reasonable price. Highly recommended! They even have a kids menu which nice places like this often don't.
D. H.
Nice little set up. Clean, bright, fresh n modern looking. I think it's a store like warehouse full of products. Impressed me
G. C.
Absolutely superb restaurant. The food was delicious, the service was attentive without being overbearing and the price in keeping with the quality. Will definitely be back.
A. D.
Best meal we’ve had since lockdown! Ordered on Uber eats, great service, paper based packaging, beautifully presented.
K. W.
Good French food and modern dishes too eg cerviche. Wine list excellent and good relaxing service. Recommended
A. M.
This is a little undiscovered gem. The food and atmosphere was a delight and the servive was great from the start. And then there's the wine list! Need I say more - a sommelier's heaven!
C. G.
Amazing food - Seriously one of the most unheard gems in London. It’s not properly speaking French food throughout, it’s French food with an international twist. And only for the best!
F. M. M.
Amazing food and service. Great Ceviche and Bourguignon.
A. L.
Came up to London for some shopping and shows - found this place close to our hotel - excellent service, wonderful food, didn't have a Morgon in stock but the Nuit St George was really good - Fantastic!

Nice restaurant and good food, but not so good to justify the prices. For the same price I have had better dinner. I wouldn't repeat.
A. K.
Lovely meal and great service. But for the price you could find even better options.
S. G.
