A lovely little restaurant. The service and staff were great and we were made to feel very welcome, this really makes an impact on dining experience. Food was lovely, so much choice, and it arrived quickly after ordering. Loved the sweet potato fries and how they were seasoned. Burgers were nice and the shake was fab! Not a huge place, so nice cosy feel. Loved the sauces on the tables. It’s great that everything on the menu is halal. I would come again.

Have been here a few times and quite enjoyed it, not a very often place I go to but it's a bit of a up-end barbeque/steak house type joint that is fully Halal. The decor is great and really authentic which adds to the vibe. The food was pretty good but not mind-blowing considering it's not the cheapest place. My main issue was the staff were overworked and poor service however they were short staffed so have to give them to benefit of the doubt so maybe I'll readjust my review when we go back in the future

Five star for decor and vibe, and service is also good. Some of the food is good and presented well but in general food is not that tasty and specially the burgers need much improvement. They seems to be dry and does not have any special taste. I was expecting somthing special but it does not have a signature taste or feel.

Fantastic cheese burger and the best seasoned fries ever ! We had the lunch offer which includes fries and a drink, representing excellent value for money. The place is Immaculately clean and service was fast. Lastly, along with the usual condiments, some extremely spicy and hot sauces available. Highly recommended.

Excellent food experience at meat and shake amazing. The staff were very friendly and were happy to answer questions we had. This restaurant is a child friendly place. They have colour activities to keep the kids busy. Must try the beans as sides! Super enjoyed that. All the beef in the platter was soft and sauced well. Just been there. Took a bit of a gamble given some of the reviews but based on my personal experience this place is hard to fault. Interior looks very well decorated and tidy with almost everything quite neatly arranged. Waiter was friendly, polite and relaxed. I kept it simple and went for the lunch deal. Surprisingly, food arrived after about 5 minutes. Burger and chips looked well prepared and tasted as expected. There were about 6 or 7 customers in total and their food seemed to also arrive on time. It's not a big restaurant so I can understand why there seems no need for lots of staff. Overall enjoyed it here.

I live in Brixton and I’ve tried so many restaurants near here, but this one takes the cake! It was fantastic! We went as a group of us and I had the smoking bandit which was incredible. I wish I had taken a photo or a video, alas I forgot, but I’ll definitely go back so will get my post yet! My friends and I absolutely loved it. Fantastic service, clean tables and 7/10 food. I say 7/10 because although it didn't wow me with the flavours used In the seasoning, I did enjoy the taste of the meat, which was clean and fresh. A little expensive for the area and what it is; steak should not be £30 when you can get a decent steak for £15, but to be fair that £30 Steak Could be amazing, but I didnt try it so I don't know. I got chips and a burger, the patty was a double lamb and my lady had grilled chicken. Chips were well cooked but could use a double fry, they were a little starchy. Lamb patty in the burger was good, salt and other basic seasonings and fresh tomato (not a sloppy mess) all good but no wow, it's not gonna make me say remember that crazy burger we had that time... The grilled chicken fillet was also clean & fresh, I liked their selection of dressings and unusual tangy sour green spicy chilli chutney, which was a bit hot for me but I see the appeal if I were to have a few drinks in me, just the right acidity flavour and heat you need with a beer.. All I all I'd say the customer service was more memorable than the food, just because the food hit the spot and the customer service left a long standing impression of quality of service... just mix up the flavours a bit more yeah? 👍🏻 4 star, Great not Super.

Meat and Shake in Tooting. This is a fantastic little gem of a restaurant in the heart of South West London. It serves halal american style bbq food. There not many places like this in London and this one is delicious. Be aware of the chilli sauce, it has 70% ghost pepper. Very hot and brings a unique fire to your meal. The beans and sausage dish were soo tasty. Must try. There is seating for about 40 people. A good range of options on the menu. There are lots of burgers to choose from. I ordered the platter for 2. My husband is a big fan... I ve tried it today for the first time. Plain Jane was good, even they forgot to put gerkins in it. And I d rather not recommend to order nachos for delivery... they probably good to eat straight from kitchen, but not after 30 mins in the delivery box as come a bit soggy and melted cheese becomes chewy. Fries are pure joy. Meals price are faire.

I went on two consecutive days, the 19th and 20th July 2020. On the 19th I ordered the Cool Joe, Mean Joe, Killer Joe as well as dirty fries, onion rings and Kinder Bueno milkshake. I would say the lamb mince is what gave this burger its taste, the burger itself was nice this way, however I found the level of lamb overpowering, the beef didn't have any flavour despite being well-done to a good standard. The toppings were nice, though I don't believe I would order another. The dirty fries were slightly overcooked and I found them too crispy, the mince topping was really nice, though I found the quantity of the mince slightly sickening. The onion rings had enough onion, the complementary sauce was also nice; however the breadcrumbs were definitely too hard to chew and actually just fell off most the onion. I wouldn't order any of these again. The milkshake was nice, though I would wait for it to melt more as the vanilla ice cream is very thick, it was neither the best milkshake nor worst - I wish the Bueno was stronger. On the 20th I ordered the Smoking Bandit and normal fries. I can definitely say that I preferred this burger, the turkey bacon was cooked very well and had lots of flavour, I would still say that the beef was flavourless, though I would have to attribute this to the quality of beef used (it is not mentioned what type of beef is used within this restaurant). I did like the wow factor, as the burger arrived enveloped in smokey entrée. The fries were crispy and had a nice coating, the portion size was also good. I wouldn't really recommend this restaurant, if you are after a good beef burger, this isn't the place. I feel like the toppings on the burger hide the flavourless beef patty.

We had a great time here and for the kids loved their food. Everything we orders was as expected and more so that we even stayed for dessert and shake. The shakes are sooooo gooood and the prices are very affordable, would highly recommend it.

Bit on the pricey side for being in south London and it doesn't come with chips as standard. Tastes good and do like the shake as its thick and creamy and not watered down like other places. Just recomend a better meal deal plan as its a tad bit higher than competitors

Looked nice from outside so thought I'd give it a try. It's a nicely themed burger place. Menu has lots of options. Opted for their award winning burger (2017) and messy chips with chicken wings for starters. The food tasted really nice, the wings felt like the sauces had infused into the chicken which makes a change from most other places that have the flavour only at the surface. Messy chips were a nice side with plenty of flavours as toppings. Burgers were nice... Not sure about the award winning but nothing wrong with them just didn't have me bedazzled. Maybe expectations of 'award winning' caused that. Will try other options from the menu next time.

The place looks nice and decorated to look like an American establishment. We had the wings as a starter, portions were huge! We got the six wings no knowing that wings here are the full sized ones, they were just cooked and I would prefer a strong spice on the wing. The rib was lovely and so was the dirty fries, the steak was decent, a bit on the dry side and was cooked more than I asked. The waitress was nice but the place is pricey more than it deserves

Food (6/10): The classic beef burger was relatively fresh, however bland in taste. The rib eye steak also lacked any distinct flavour and there was a £2 charge for a small sauce "of your choice" which seemed a bit excessive since you are already paying for the steak that comes without any gravy or sauce. A bottle diet coke, which I believe we didn't order, was charged at £2.59. We silently absorbed that cost since it was debatable whether it was our mistake. The lunchtime menu was good value for money, however despite being advertised as a large portion of chips this portion seemed medium. The kids menu was a decent price and the chicken burger (fried) itself tasted nice. Overall I believe the bill was a little over what I would have thought to pay for the quantity and quality of the food. I wouldn't come here again. Price (Avg per head): £10-20, depending on the dish and drinks. Service (5/10): Average at best. Understaffed, and there was a wait for most people. I noticed people came to the restaurant and were waiting to be served for quite some time. The waitress didn't seem particularly attentive as she was busy chatting for the best part of 45 minutes that we spent at the restaurant. Atmosphere/ Occasion: Nice interior, although a little cramped. Family friendly.

Cool little dive with inventive menu of burgers, meats, and shakes. I wouldn't put it on par with Kansas City barbecue, but it is tasty and the portions are generous. The food is a four, but the facility is no better than three. Poorly designed table tops have years of grime buried in the ridges. Still highly recommended but they really should clean it up.

Nice simple burgers. Bread fresh. Takes a little while to get served even when it wasn't busy when we went (literally only one other person there!) but it was friendly enough. Ordered the luchador burger and buffalo wings with 2 chips and nachos. First off the burger was very nice. In fact it was one of the better ones I've had from most of these burger joints. Nachos was standard and the wings nice but again similar can be found. I drove nearly an hour to come to this place so I was a little underwhelmed. The problem is the price. Food is decent but the price is a too high for what I ordered. And the sides have to be ordered separately which again pushes the price up. Food wasn't bad though but don't think it's worth me driving that far and paying that for what they have.

We went there as a couple, went with family, went with friends so I thought I’d write a review! The food is great as you would definitely make a return! The atmosphere is pleasant but only reason it takes me to a drop a star mainly due to waiting time! I understand it’s busy but sometimes when your hungry it becomes annoying. The burgers are very tasty, quite a bite too also the fries are cooked to perfection! My husband loves the buffalo wings they are just so huge and flavoursome. If you can go around lunch time as it’s less busy and in the evening so be prepared to wait a little bit it’s worth the wait make sure you’re in great company not young teenagers!

If you're looking for a cheap meal, then go to Chicken Cottage across the road. Both waitress' were helpful and provided prompt service. Respect and good manners are a mutual concept. The burgers here are sooooo good!! I've been coming here for over 5years now with my family and its one of my top favourite restaurants. The food is 100% Halal and the kids food are practically free. Kids meal comes with choice of burger, chips and drink for £2.99 that's even cheaper than a happy meal!!!

Ordered here via Deliveroo and hands down this was probably one of the best burgers I've tasted all year. I had the Von Longhorn burger with sweet potato fries, the burger was perfectly cooked and the fries were really crispy. Meat and Shake also do a lot of community outreach work which includes helping the homeless and feeding school children. A credit to our local community! Keep up the good work!

Service is poor. Was sat down by what seemed to be the manager, who "seemed to be more concerned about what was on his laptop than his customers" Had a chat foe a few minutes and waited quietly thinking somone was going to bring us the menus over. The manager "who sat us down" was sitting on his laptop next to us, and I mean literally a foot away and I had to ask him for a menu. I would expect this kid of service in a chicken shop, not somewhere I am paying 65 for 4 burgers and 4 drinks. I would have given this 1 stars if the food wouldn't have been decent!. Fix up!!!!

Great wee place, very 'American' in decor, menu and even importing cream soda from the US. Awesome place if your into shakes, really is. Food very tasty. No drinks licence and no BYO (only downside if you like beer with your dirty fries) but portions are big so if you plan family meal, think of almost all 'big' portions as shaters.

Tried them after a local news story highlighted them giving away 1000 meals to children during half term! It's classic fast food (sometimes that's what you want) but done very well. I had previously been to the Meat and Shake in Ealing a few years back before it closed, and I’d been craving the apple pie and cinnamon milkshake ever since. After discovering there was one in Tooting, I felt it was only right to be checking this place out and seeing if they sell my delight. Thankfully, it was on the menu. It was nice and thick, but it lacked flavour and was a little grainy, so it almost tasted like self-raising flour (don’t ask how I know). The establishment is quite small so they’re not observing measures for covid. 6/10.

Meat and Shake is a go to for my friends and I. My favourites are the portobello burger, dirty fries and peanut butter and banana brownie milkshake. The staff are lovely, very smiley and extremely accommodating. I go to Meat and Shake at least 3 times a year and it has never, ever disappointed.

Upon entering the venue it has a decent rustic theme/decor Service is 50-50 I found the burger menu was pretty much the same just with fancy names and a little over priced. Buffalo wings I ordered were cold and when I informed the waitress she really didn't care. Perhaps she enjoyed the Covid-19 holiday too much!! I would say I'm glad I gave it a go but doubt I would be returning.

It's a very nice place to have an American style dinner with smoked meat, steaks, burgers and salads. The food quality is great, the prices are a little spicy, but maybe that's what it takes for a dry aged mince to take place in your soft, juicy burger. We've been having The Meat and Shake Smokestack Platter, a platter that can easily satisfy 4 people. All the meat is marinated in barbecue and smoked up to 14 hours, amazing!

I don't see how a place being busy or not affects the standard of food. Yes, the place is small and can get very busy but the principal reason anyone goes there is to satiate your taste buds. The food is very good though. Not a huge menu, but what is on offer is done very well. The main chef/owner is also very friendly and will always ask every customer if everything is good, at least once, but not so much as to be irritating. Went there yesterday and it's been a while since I last been there. I thought I'd be let down due to meat n shake being hit and miss in the past but it was quite the opposite. They're truffle fries are awesome. I used to be a dirty fries fan but I've definitely converted. Been here many times and the food has been brilliant. Have tried most of the burgers and steaks. My personal favourite burger is the Rib n Cheese Burger. The Hot Link Sausages are also one of my favourites. The service has always been great and the food has always arrived promptly even with a full house. It does get busy so I would recommend reservations but I think they have recently stopped doing so and it's simply first come first serve at the moment. They are quite small. They have 3 6seater booths, 3 4seater booths and then some smaller tables seating maybe another 20-25 people. It definitely isn't cheap but it isn't super expensive either. I'm my opinion it's worth it especially if you're eating out only once in a while.

Live in the middle east and spoilt for choice when it comes to GOURMET burgers, came here for a business trip and started getting a craving for a decent quality burger and of course it has to be halal. Quite surprised to find a lack of halal gourmet burgers in London out of all places. Lots of halal places but just your average burger to be honest; either MacD quality or countless halal fried chicken burgers. Came across this place and prices werent cheap but the burgers looked huge. I spoke to the waiter and found out its wagu meat so the price made senses. I'm used to paying these prices in the Middle East for gourmet burgers so pricey as they were, its actually the norm. Service was cool, friendly and helpful staff, timing was standard, but food was actually surprisingly decent. Burger was huge and this must be 1 of the first times the food matched the pictures. Has to be said, you pay for what you get and I must have done all the franchises in the Middle East and a few independent stores out there. This is definitely 1 of the top places I've been to in terms of price, quantity and quality.
