Reviews of MEATliquor
V. A.
Nice venue decor. Great music selection. Empty as it was a Monday evening. Ordered on the QR code menu. Not a fan but it is what it is. Staff were polite. Like how the food comes on a platter tray. Burger was 🤤. Chips could have been a bit hotter considering we were the only ones in the restaurant. 4/5 stars.. I would visit again
L. I.
Definitely worth the visit!
From food to aesthetics this is truly an gem!
The burgers are brilliant and full of meat! Also the fried pickles were delicious 🤤!
I was so full I basically was rolling like a ball of meat on the way back home!
Staff are very fun and pleasant as well.
There is a Photo Booth as well which was a real treat!
V. B.
Very nice ambiance, great music and lovely decor. The burgers are amazing and decadent and highly recommend the onion rings and Mac n cheese bites as well :)
E. G.
I had a green chili burger and cheesy chips, which was bang on lovely. I can't remember the name of the Scottish waitress, who was efficient, charming, and funny. I will come here again and recommend you do too.
R. L.
I am obsessed with their deep fried pickles with blue cheese sauce. also the monkey fingers are to die for. Mac and choreezos and the chilli cheese fries also finished the meal off nicely! Would love it even more if sliders or more desserts were on the menu! sooooo full now!

Great cider, great food!! Being a coeliac I was worried about eating here but their food is amazing. I had a double bacon and cheese burger but without the bun and cheese as I'm also lactose intolerant, it was amazing!! They can wrap it up in lettuce for you instead of a bun if you want as well! The only downside was they got 1 drink order wrong due to miscommunication however I don't feel its worth marking them down for that as i loved the food, the decor and the cider!
Also you've got a choice of sitting in a dark room or a light room so you have a choice of what atmosphere and tone the restaurant sets! We sat in the dark room, used night mode on my phone to get some relatively clear photos! Would definitely go again!

One of the tastiest burgers we've ever eat (plain and cheeseburger)
I'm still thinking about it😅
The guy who served us was on of the best waiter I've ever met.
C. D.
Music too loud, had to move seats but still too loud (asked to turn down). Food great. Price reasonable for quality. Insane onion rings! Donut sized - maybe best ever! Service was friendly.
S. L.
The burgers were tasty and delicious! The quantity was quite good as well. The prices were very affordable as well. Nice choice of drinks too.
A. A.
Great burgers and fantastic appetizers. Topped with great service. Natalie and her friends took care of us like family. You could ask for extra patties on your burger and extra everything. Get some beers.
B. (.
I've had a few burgers here in the old days when it was called 'Meat mission', and after last night I can say the food is still just as delicious as before! Burgers may have a little pink, but they're probably the tastiest burger you will get in London! (certainly the best I've had). Monkey fingers are delicious too! Thanks! 😁
T. L.
I love the interior design they have going on in this branch. It feels fun, cozy and eclectic it's always a treat to visit. The food and the cocktails are to die for! I highly recommend the Game Over to go with their burgers. The staff are highly commendable, very friendly and accommodating. Fast service despite having been fully booked.
As it's covid season, the entrance had sanitiser dispensers and the toilets were regularly cleaned. Only thing that disappointed me was that the retro photo booth they have is closed.
Great work team. Be visiting again soon!
K. P.
Great food, friendly service, excellent music taste
I'm definitely going back
In the pic: Bacon-Cheese burger, chicken burger, cheese fries, chilly hotdog

Awesome decor and music. App service was easy to use and fairly priced. Decent selection of food and a lot of drinks. Burgers are pretty standard burger joint stuff the sides is where it's at.

Had a fantastic visit to MEATliquor Shoreditch tonight. Service was fantastic and the staff were incredibly friendly, helpful and accommodating! I cannot recommend the food here enough. The Parma burger is probably one of the best burgers I’ve ever had, and the dead hippie fries were so worth ordering! My partner and I had a truly fantastic time and will definitely be returning.
B. P.
Empty on a Thursday evening which was surprising, we were the only customers in there from 9pm. Staff decided to turn the music up full blast making conversation difficult, perhaps it was a subtle hint they wanted us to leave as they shut up shop as soon as we left.
A. S.
Oh my gosh I can’t recommend enough! Natalie you are a superstar. There was 22 of us on a Friday night last minute we hadn’t booked…and she managed to accommodate us outside for food and drinks at 9:30pm. She made the experience enjoyable for all of us, catered for allergies and even helped us immensely with dividing the bill. I honestly can’t recommend the place enough and also Natalie needs a pay rise!!! She was the best example of great customer service and we will definitely be returning just because of her❤️

If you want to feel like your about to meat the antichrist and eat in a satanic themed bar/restaurant then this is for you.
Food quality is good and have some great choices. Tasty stuff.
Great value for money.
G. P.
Burger is great, the chips are poor. And the milkshake is small. About 330ml not 500ml, which is quite stingy
Edit: I got served the chips in the restaurant, so not cold. I said they were poor - as in the cut, the texture etc.
As for the milkshake, you know no other place charges £5 for a 330ml milkshake. Byron, Five Guys etc...all around 500ml for £5.
G. G.
First time coming to meat liquor and had really high hopes as the reviews are really promising. After eating there I must say the food is amazing and the cocktails are great as well! However, the service charge that they add on top of the bill is not optional and was over priced. We had to wait over 50 minutes for our food. We had ordered cocktails and it just so happened that there was a mouldy raspberry in my drink. Music is insanely loud.
A. M.
This place is amazing and the food is extremely delicious . It was our first time coming here as a family and we enjoyed every bite. The staff have been quick, kind and friendly and also giving suggestions to food. As we sat down, we spotted the attractive atmosphere that got us even more hungry. It is very clean and delicious even for my kids. I truly recommend this place to anyone who is a meat fan or wants to try something new.
S. L.
Incredible food!! The restaurant theme and decor is great, the staff were super friendly and helpful and the food was top tier if you're after a good feed 👏
d. r.
Absolutely lovely food and lovely service. Great portion size. 6 people in total and we agreed it was deffo worth the money. The grog drink was lovely also.
The 2 people that were taking orders and serving were lovely, informative and helpful. Polite and considerate.
Definitely 4 stars - didn't out 5 because I'd say that's for the fancy restraunts lol
Definitely a great choice to go to. I will be going again
G. F.
A very different place to eat. Housed in an old church, this dingy greasy burger place is lots of fun. I had their limited Jose Pizarro burger which was juicy and moreish. Everything is cooked to order so it isn't the fastest place around but good if you have time. There is a £10 lunch meal (burger, fries, unlimited soda) which is a good deal for the area.
S. O.
The food was tasty and definitely hits the spot if you're after indulgent comfort food. The music inside is super loud but thankfully it was nice weather so we asked to be sat outside. The service was good and the staff were pleasant.
Overall it was a decent experience, however to order you scan the QR on the table which logs you into Me&U. To order using this portal, an additional 12.5% is added to the bill. This is not a tip/staff service charge, but rather a charge just to order. This is a bit of a kick in the teeth when you're ordering for a big group like we were. Then the service charge/tip on top, which felt odd adding before we even had any service. It did spoil the experience a little, despite the decent grub.
N. L.
We have been frequenting this excellent burger joint for 8 years since it was Meat Mission. The quality has remained flawless throughout that time. I never fail to have a memorable night there. I don’t think any other place gets the atmosphere of drinking and eating late into the night quite as right at Meat Liquor.
We were a large party and were catered for superbly by all the staff.
Contrary to a certain review below, which requires a thorough fact checking, the food was not burned. In fact, it was all cooked exquisitely. The order arrived at our table at the pre-arranged time. As for rodent control, I certainly didn’t notice any under “every table” and I certainly wouldn’t pick up any such devices so that I could take a heavily stylised photograph with the intention of slandering a well loved and well run establishment. As for price, it’s the centre of London and I believe the prices to be quite competitive.
Find me a burger as good as these in London for under a tenner and I’ll eat my words.
A. K.
They have good fresh burgers and Austrian beer !
The local Beer here is the Austrian „Stiegl“.
The Burgers are ok and the Taste is good, but the feel is completely without love. So the Burgers are good but not specially.
The Location and decoration is strange.
It’s like an American devil supporter club.
The athmosphere is not good, but the Burgers and drinks are ok.
H. C. (.
great service and great food. never disappointed by any of the MEATliquor restaurants.
Didn’t feel rushed which was a nice break from the norm that’s plagued London currently.
Music as always was on point too. Had the Cheesy Fries & Bacon Cheese burger which were so nice! Definitely come here on a empty stomach to take advantage of the amazing menu choices!
Great drink options too which will have you taking longer to choose a drink than your food!
Look forward to returning !
S. W.
This place is ridiculously amazing!! You have to order the monkey fingers which is mini buffalo chicken fillets with blue cheese sauce... it’s hard not to go crazy with the ordering. The kind of place you would head to after an evening of drinking. I can not recommend this place anymore. They have other locations across London which are just as good.
D. A.
Great place for dinner. Highly recommend the Dead Hippie burger. Much like the other Meat Liquor restaurants this place mixes great food with a good atmosphere. Great range and selection of burgers, including beef, chicken and vegan options. Lots of choice in sides and fries! Staff really friendly and a great venue!
S.
Meatmission has got a great, lively atmosphere. It's pretty loud so not a place for a romantic candlelit dinner. The selection of drinks are really good, great big glass pitchers of beer. Cocktails and sherbets are really good too! We've been here a few times and the food is good. Big portions. The waiters are really great too. Good for a great night out with mates.
U.
Beautiful placed nicely decorated as a christian mission as it was. Nice food, nice prices. The DeadHippie is a lovely burger with two beef patty nicely cooked. We got monkey fingers which are buffalo chicken strips and buffalo chicken burger. I love that stuff. We never got to order the dogs and couple of cocktails. Next time we will get them for sure. Also, they have a challenge that if you get a burger, dog and fries in less than minutes, you got the challenge and the meal is for free, sound delicious!!!
J. S.
I've been here before and really liked it - just felt that this time the service / food took a hit since the last time. I asked for food without pickles and mayo and both of the things I ordered had them, even the second time they brought them out. My halloumi burger was quite deflated and the mushrooms inside them were way too salty (combined with the salty halloumi it was really overpowering). I had a stomachache and a rash after leaving. The beer was good though (baby faced assassin). I don't think I'll be back, shame.
D. K.
Lovely place set inside an old church. The menu consists of greasy comfort food such as burgers and loaded fries. Chilli cheese fries are always a personal favourite but they do pack a punch so watch out! Nice selection of beers on draught conveniently available by the pitcher.
K. H.
Fantastic service from all 3 ladies who served us, even the lady who answered the phone when I called up to check if they were still serving food at 9pm. Friendly, helpful and nothing too much to ask.
Food was and always is very tasty! Been back 3 times and it never disappoints! Mac and cheese bites with the tomato dip are to die for! We are meat eaters but fancied trying the Satans "chicken" fingers and even they were very good!
A. P.
MEATmission Old Street is located on a great space opposite to the National Centre for Circus Arts and opposite to the University of Westminster student accommodation building. The space is dark and resembles a church providing a funky space. Surprisingly, the menu includes three vegan options and the traditional burgers and chicken options. I visited on a Friday around one in the afternoon and most of the tables where reserved with no milkshakes being served given the machine had broken a day earlier. The service was underwhelming and aloof. Two waiters to look after close to 40 people is a stretch especially at busy times. As for the food the chicken wings where incredibly well seasoned while the hamburger was average and a bit dry. MEATmission is a great spot for groups looking for some easy quick food in a chilled out space. Improvements to the service would begin to live up to the expectation and hype of the MEATmission chain.

21st, Saturday evening.
This was our first visit and not the last one.
Our friends were always talking about how good is MEATliquor Shoreditch, known as MeatMission before, so we decided to give a chance and try it.
When we barely walk through the door we've been welcomed with a big smile, so happy to be there.
While we were seating comfortable the waitress was explaining how we can order these days.
As our friends recommended the place, we already know what we want.
We ordered Monkey fingers and Wings as a starter and guys have to say - OMG that was amazing. So tasty, this buffalo sauce is banning :D
Between the food, we had few pints with good recommendations from our waiter - so far our favourite is Tiny rebel Clwb Tropicana.
We also ordered Buffalo Chicken, Bacon Cheeseburger and Hippie fries for share. All came quickly to our table after a couple of bites we already know it that this will be one of our favourite restaurants in London
Also, the service was amazing, even we use the app for ordering our food or drinks, staff members have been helpful and made our experience so good that we will bring more people with us.
Big thank you for team of MEATliquor Shoreditch
T. P.
Great burgers. Classics done right and a few new ones that are interesting. Besides the great food this is an amazing satanic-themed burger place in an old church. It makes you wish all McDonald's were like this.
W. G.
Some great burgers with epic chip options and great sides. Two 4 one on cocktails and pretty decent beer selection makes this place great for a hangover cure or a food coma.
F. D. P.
As its "cousin" MEATliquor in N1, MEATmission Is all about a good place to hang with friends while eating some high standard pub classics.
Wide range of burgers and delicious fries, all settled in a particular and cool location so close to Old Street tube station. Good selection of beers, definitely recommend. Prices are good, you won't have "bad" surprises when paying the bill.

Top notch food, unreal service. Louis was class throughout. Never disappointed when here
B. A. O.
Such good food, they have a great range of options for gluten-free and vegan people. It’s not too expensive and the service was really good. Their cocktails were really nice as well and the staff were really friendly and helpful.

great service and great food. never disappointed by any of the MEATliquor restaurants.

Great venue, great food, decent drinks.

Brilliant burger restaurant. Superb cocktails, quirky decor preserving the the churches old features, juicy and delicious burgers. Great place to catch up with friends.

I came for drinks and ended up staying till close
GIVE HER A RAISE

Great food, cocktails and vibe! Easy to order from table
B. C.
Amazing food. Some really cool and funky decor too! Chilli cheese fries are banging!
m. W.
Amazing food. I felt the service was a little slow as it wasn't full but food worth it. Cocktails were yummy too. We had trickles and monkey fingers to start. Hi. Burgers for main were all perfect.
A. T.
Lovely room. Bit pricey but a great range of drinks and good food.
L. S.
Pleasantly surprised with this place. Our server was super nice and went out of his way to make sure we were happy with our beers. Deep fried pickles were too thin, but the batter was good. Cool ceiling. American style bbq food with a huge roll of paper towel for sticky fingers. Free wifi available.
A. O.
Didn't realise until I ordered that this is part of the meat liquor chain in London.
The food was great, burgers wings and tings (altho8gh I don't think they serve ting).
Had a great hippie burger and pizza hash, both great.
Also I would defo recommend the camel toe... if not just for the novelty.
s. c.
We have visited Shoreditch site and even it wasn’t busy as usual we still have amazing time.
Staff for lovely and really helpful.
The food was absolutely beautiful as always. ✨
V. V.
Really nice decor and atmosphere. Always busy so turn up early to get a seat or table. Bar staff were friendly but there was a bit of reluctance from waiting staff when trying to sit our group of 7, drinks were slow to come but the food was tasty and if you order to share (recommended) the price is decent.
T. K.
Dark atmosphere with loud music and casual seating.
Burgers were great, hippie fries were also yummy but the portion size for this is massive and impossible to finish considering it is just a side.
B. J.
Delish food, and quality cocktails and lager. The only let down was just how RUDE one member of staff was the moment myself and a friend walked in, they spoke to us like we were stupid, and behaved in a way that made it clear we weren’t welcome despite us literally doing nothing to provoke a reaction of that kind. I remember her from her distinct accent so be warned of you go there on a bad day. The other staff who tended to us were chatty, polite and genuinely didn’t seem to have a problem with our existence. I’d absolutely go back but geez that one staff member really made it harder to relax than necessary.
a. m. f.
You can't go wrong if your favorites include hotdogs, fried chicken or burgers! The cheesy fried have shaved onions on top, amazing. The onion rings are the best I have ever had. You can make your own hotdog or try one of the house specials! Make sure you check out the sign at the front door!!
B. A. O.
Such good food, they have a great range of options for gluten-free and vegan people. It’s not too expensive and the service was really good. Their cocktails were really nice as well and the staff were really friendly and helpful.
A. L. d. S.
Tasty Burgers and hot dogs with boozy cocktails and decadent milkshakes
If you have hungry friends try the eating challenge
B. B.
Great food and great service from Louis! The green chilli chips were amazing and the house Grog hit the spot! 👌
C. C.
Simply love this place. Awesome playlists cranked up loud. Burgers and beers that never fail to hit the spot. And service that makes friends out of strangers (looking at you Lukas).
B. ..
This place is amazing! As far as value for money, I'd say it's one of the best places to eat in London. Great atmosphere and intimate feel in this place with cosy chairs and quite a chilled out vibe around the place. This place seems to attract young and trendy students and professionals. The food and drinks are spot on with a variety of different burgers to suit everyone's fancy. The burgers are so filling with lots of sauces and thought put into it. The sides are probably the best bit of the meal. I recommend monkey fingers or chilli cheese chips. I go nearly everytime I'm out with friends! Easy to find too.
A. M.
Amazing food and friendly staff. 11 out of 10
T. E.
If the name didn't give it away, this place is a restaurant aimed at meat lovers.
They mostly serve burgers and hotdogs (and liqour!), although there are a few Veg/Vegan options available. You can probably expect to spend between £15-£20 for a meal and a drink in the evening.
It is based inside of a Christian mission (hence the name), with stained glass windows and a very interesting decor.
When we entered the restaurant we were seated almost immediately. I ordered the 'Green Chilli Cheeseburger' and 'Sriracha Fries'. Whilst the burger was very good, with just the right level of heat, I was disappointed with the fries which could have been more crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle.
They do have a large selection of drinks and cocktails available, and the ones we ordered were very good. Table service was offered for these, but was unfortunately very slow on the Wednesday I visited.
Overall I would say this is a rather average restaurant for the price, especially given the competition in the area.
However, it is worth a visit if you like burgers, and I was pretty close to giving it a 4* rating if the service was just a little faster.
(I would also recommend the restaurant purchase menu holders, as our menus kept falling off the table as they were propped between the sauces and kitchen roll.)
D. S.
Great burgers, hotdogs, and desserts. Beautiful venue as well. Just don't go near the wings, they're terrible.
K. K.
Food is decent, staff are nice and friendly.
Slightly annoying how the food is served, on trays to share rather than on individual plates.
Portion sizes are good and the beers are good too.
K. Z.
Friday payday ! My friend and I decided to spoil ourselves a little and ordered some food- Did not disappoint, If you haven't tried the Dead hippies chilli cheese fries you are missing out in your life. We also had buffalo wings and Mac and cheese - wish they did bottomless buckets on both ! The wait was quite long but expected as its end of the week, so probably busier than usual. Miss the whole team and appreciate that they keep going strong, delivering at their best quality!
B. B.
Accommodating, good service and great food! Much better then Oxford Street branch.
J. T.
Unbelievable food for the price. Nice craft beers and their chicken wings are top notch. Seriously cool venue too.
K. A. G.
The best restaurant in London. Buffalo Chicken burger and Monkey Fingers highly recommended. This place has a large piece of my heart.
J. S.
House Grog is the best drink on the menu!
Amazing food and even better service (shoutout to Louis who was brilliant!!)
P. C.
Awesome place, nice food, good atmosphere and... really busy Friday nights. We have been waiting more then 30 minutes for our order, but burgers were worth it to wait, and chicken wings, and... everything so good!! If You are looking for meat - fest- place in London - go starting there. Not to expensive place. 'Game over' cocktail - strong stuff💪. Enjoy!
E. S.
Busy Friday, good food, lovely staff
N.
Food is really nice, but a tad on the greasy side. Yes I know it's to be expected but it's a little more than the norm
M. B.
Nice deco! Tasty food.. that black palace burguer and the cheeseburguer with extra bacon was the best. Can't finish without speak about the chips, really good. We enjoyed it
J. H.
Amazing meal - first time at MeatLiquor and will be back! Great food and amazing service from Louis!!
K. K.
Food is good, although I've had better elsewhere. Very spacious place, ideal for groups or families. Very friendly and polite people.
S. M.
Amazing vibes tonight, first time here, and definitely not the last. Thank you Luca and Natalie for this evening, hope next time we can all have a double shot of patron.
7 stars for these guys, great experience.
I. W.
The food was great but I think staff, though nice and friendly, were a little overwhelmed with the volume of customers.
I had the buffalo wings, which were crispy and tasty but not spicy at all (so maybe not what you’re looking for if you’re after hot wings). I also had the buffalo chicken burger, which was delicious and enormous, though again not spicy. I also had a couple of beers but they only serve them in 2/3 pint glasses, which is disappointing.
For a restaurant with meat in the name they have very good menu of vegetarian and vegan/plant-based food so I would happily go here again if someone in the group was vegan.
In summary, I would recommend trying out meat mission if you haven’t already, and I will probably go again to try the plant-based food.
G. C.
Lovely food and drinks, great atmosphere and decent prices. A nice place to hang with your friends to grab a decent burger!
S. L.
Place is really nice with a lot of room. The burger is definetly really really good but the fries could be better.
M. A.
One of my favourite burgers in London! Chilli cheese fries, monkey fingers, fried pickles 🤤 A dream!
L. S. E.
I Wish I could rewind my life so I could re-eat your burgers over and over. Heavenly Beautiful, Best Burgers By Far! Can't wait to try the rest of the Menu. Love Light and Success to you!
H. P.
Great way to end veggie January! Deep fried Mac n cheese is to die for
P. M.
Great food, cocktails and vibe! Easy to order from table
L. C.
Good diner food, good drinks, very friendly staff
A. H.
Amazing food and service, shoutout to my tender Krystian. Such a great host and was always in great spirits - came with Ridwan
C. M.
Top notch food, unreal service. Louis was class throughout. Never disappointed when here
T. R.
Without doubt this is still my fave burger spot. Take friends, try the monkey wings and order a jug of beer surrounded by great art in this superb converted church building.
M. P.
Absolutely loved it great food and just love the look of the place. Highly recommended it
S. S.
Great food! Great atmosphere. Best out of the Meatmissions and Meatliquors
M. R.
Fantastic food. Serves BBQ/grill style food like burgers, chicken wings hot dogs and Mac and cheese.
You can't go wrong with their beef burgers - always perfectly cooked and deliciously juicy. The buffalo chicken burger is also a great option.
The deep fried Mac 'n' cheese is as delicious as it sounds.
Staff are super friendly and helpful.
Good choice of beer options available.

Great place... Lovely service... Amazing burgers and beer....
S. S.
Been here so many times and it’s always amazing. The staff are lovely every time, last night Lucas served us and he was a dream. It was my daughter’s 17th birthday dinner and he made sure we had a fab evening. Can’t wait to come back again after tier 3 is over :)
M. S.
Good Food, even vegetarian possibilities. Inside dark and loud, gothic style, 80's music. I am in my 40's and i felt like in my 20's.

Had a great experience at MEATliquor it was super nice. Special thanks to Natalie, Lucas, and Gaby for their excellent service while we were there.
M. B.
Lovely food lovely bubbly full of energy environment. Loud music bench like seats.
K. H.
Jaz gave us great service, if you guys read this get her another coffee haha
J. L.
Went for the veggie option today. Did enjoy. The vegan wings were ok but could be better. Not a fault of meat mission just a general criticism of vegan wings. So much better than they used to be but still a way to go. Service was a bit slow but good overall.
L. D.
One of my favourite restaurants in London, a busy place particularly on Friday/Saturday nights so worth considering booking. Staff are always friendly, happy to recommend drink and food options.
The burgers are always delicious and you MUST have the Monkey Fingers - trust me you will thank me later!
S. S.
By god, what a flavour experience. Awesome atmosphere, great beers and incredibly tasty food, a little on the pricy side, but still worth 5 stars given the quality
L. L.
Atmospher and staff make a great place for big groups.

My favourite burger place in London. Beer is great, service is fast, great decor, good tunes and tasty monkey fingers. If I wasn't so health conscious I'd be eating here every day. All the burger joints in this chain are pretty good though. Not so much of a queue now, so worth a visit. Also they have an excellent selection of vegan burgers which means it's even more accessible.
K. L.
Excellent burgers and ribs! Very tasty and juicy with quality ingredients! Very American in style and presentation they even have a food challenge if you can eat a burger, a hotdog, and chilli fries in under 10 minutes it's free and you get your name on the wall if you are in the top 20. Stiff competition though the record is 2m.07s which is insane!
Prices are pretty good especially for the location I paid £22 for my share which was a full on burger, chilly fries, and a couple of beers!
Would definitely recommend a visit gets busy at peak times though!
M. K.
I've always had a good time when I've been to Meatmission. The food, drinks and service are consistently great, in particular I think that the monkey fingers are an absolute winner.
For anyone wondering, the tables are all spaced out nicely per current guidelines (the long, shared tables are split up), staff wore masks at all times, and hand sanitiser was available.
A. B.
Service was bit Spartan however the food atmosphere and beer was great.
T. D.
Best vegetarian and vegan selection of any American style diner I've been to around east London, surprising given the name. Decent food and generous portions. My only gripe is they serve beer in either 2/3 pint or 2 pint/3 pint jugs. A touch pretentious and, as a customer, just annoying. Otherwise great, perfect for work parties and groups.
M. S.
We visited yesterday afternoon, wasn't too busy and were seated quickly. Amazing food, friendly staff, great atmosphere. The buffalo wings were perfect. Only wish I had room for pudding. Will be visiting again very soon!
A. C.
Great good. Great atmosphere. They had a deal on where if your name is the same name they write on the window then you get a free burger. I went that night with twins whose surname was Gerrard and the name that night was Gerrard, so overall great night.
S. G.
Excellent burgers, sides were great (order the monkey fingers). Would've been 5 stars but they only serve schooners (2 thirds of a pint) and the prices don't really reflect that. Decent burger and decent beer. Cant complain.
E. S.
Funky drinks, fun decor, and awesome food makes this place a must go! The hard shakes are amazing and the servers were quick and attentive. Good vibes and good food, make it your MISSION to go to meat mission :)
I.
Great food and chilled atmosphere. Our server Lucas was a funny guy and provided excellent service. I’ll be coming again for sure.
I. K.
This place has a very unique atmosphere. An atmosphere that balances on a fine line of almost being satanic. While that doesn’t disturb me too much, I wasn’t completely comfortable. Also, I wouldn’t bring a kid here for sure. Still, the staff were really lovely, the food was delicious and cocktails were heavenly. If the atmosphere doesn’t brother you too much, this is a decent place for a relaxed or romantic dinner.
N. E.
Yummy and original. Had such a great time!
R. P.
Great venue, great food, decent drinks.
S. C.
The food offering at MeatMission is good, the starters are delicious, especially the wings. The burgers weren't the best I've had, tried a classic cheeseburger and it was average. Nothing wrong with it, it was fresh and well done, but not particularly good. The fries were great, tried pretty much all of them from friends. It's a good place, but if I were to go out for burgers, this wouldn't be my first choice.
Z. D.
One of the best burger 🍔 places in London. Dirty Chicken cheese burger, Mac and Cheese bits and Sriracha fries are my favourites 🍟
S. R.
Louis was our server and he’s been great!!
J. J.
Went to MeatMission for lunch today as a group of 20 and thought the staff did really well to handle such a big group.
When ordering, the staff split the tables so there was no fussing over the food when it arrived and the bills were all done per table which was very convenient.
Food was great as it always is!
D. P.
Delicious burgers! The patties are really juicy and not over cooked
T. “. B.
everything was so delicious... looking forward to coming back soon! the lunchtime deal is great value.
V. M.
Great, juicy burger and selection of draft beers
M. G.
I love this place. It’s home to the best god damn Hot Dog I know, not that their burgers aren’t amazing either, but what i gotta order are the monkey fingers and the ripper. It is the perfect dog, the bread to meat to mustard ratio are exactly how they should be. It’s fatty and tasty without being soggy and trashy. The prices are okay, the waiters are friendly and the location itself is really cool and different, being a former mission and all that. It’s the one place I keep coming back to whenever I’m in London, so do yourself a favor and check these guys out, im sure you won’t be disappointed. Make sure to reserve ahead since the place can get packed, and for all the challenge eaters out there, they offer a few where you can win the food on the house so...all the more reason to swing by!
Z. “. I.
Nice food and atmosphere. Will visit again
B. K.
Great place - Yasmin and Lucas are top notch 🎉 sincerely, the pickleback bois
O. P.
Meat and liquor! Perfect place to have a good dinner with mates. Great ambiance and magnificent dive bar decor. The staff is very friendly, came with a party of 7 without reservation and got a table in 10 minutes on a Friday night! Good selection of beers served in actual jugs and the burgers are delicious, all within reach of most wallets. I'll definitely be back.
M. E.
I love all the restaurants of this chain! Fantastic food and drinks.
M. U.
Love this place. What more could you want than a tasty hamburger freshly cooked and piping hot when delivered to your table. Try the onion rings they are amazing. Great place, great atmosphere will definitely be returning and highly recommend.
K. C.
Delicious burgers, huge onion rings, good vibes
K. S.
Has a good vibe. The burgers are good but not going to blow you away. I think quite a few people expect that is does more than just burgers and fries (quite a few people around us commenting that they thought it was a 'proper' BBQ place)
Drinks were okay and the pricing is decent. On the whole not blown away by it and if anyone has talked this place up to you it's probably going to be a bit of a disappointment
T. W.
Still an excellent burger and good food but this place is no longer the ‘cool’ spot it was. Bad signage, £10 lunch deals on chalk boards and a lot of other stuff seems to erode the cool brand this place had. Thought it must mean new ownership looking to make a quick buck but the, slightly defensive, waitress said it was still the same owners. Strange.
D. V.
Tasty burger, good sized portions. Staff were excellent. Nice quirky little spot. Negative reviews of this place could not be justified given my own experience here. Well worth a visit if you like a quality burger and you're in the shoreditch area.
K. E.
The food here is great, very tasty and sizeable portion sizes (ordered the Chicken Parma Burger during my last visit - recommended).
One thing I didn't really like was the lack of individual plates and minimal tissues on my table, with the food being served altogether on a big serving tray;
I believe this is the intentional eating style, but it makes for a pretty messy eating experience; which isn't my preference.
D. B.
First visit to MEATMission last night and I can’t say enough good things. The food was incredible (green chilli burger may be the best burger I’ve ever eaten). There was a huge range of beers on offer and the service received was top drawer. Can’t believe I’ve not been before...will definitely be going on a more regular basis
R.
The burger (I went with the chilli) was great though the fries were forgettable. We also had a side of wings which were pretty good. I loved our drinks - strong lunch and tastes delightful. What sets MEATmission (and its sister restaurants) apart is the no thrills 'all about the food' vibe. However, the service was particularly slow and with only the burger singing to me - maybe a tiny bit more customer service would be preferable?
M. S.
Great place for the meat lovers - as the name would imply. A very trendy place where beer is served in large glass jugs. Very popular and busy, especially with the younger Londoner. The food was quick to be made and tasted great. The hot wings with blue cheese were particularly tasty. Highly recommend.
L. W.
All came on one tray. The food was really nice and atmosphere was good.
M.
Great food, as we have come to expect from meat mission/meat liquor. The service was prompt and polite and the staff were willing to explain things on the menu when asked. We went with some friends over from Canada and they loved the experience. It can get very busy, we were there in a Saturday evening and if you're not there early you would need to book ahead.
T. H.
First the decor is crazy and we loved it! The staff were amazingly helpful and attentive. The music selection was appropriate and fun.
Food is beyond words . Go there and bring your mates. You won't regret it.
C. G.
Meat lovers this converted mission building will get the taste buds going and seems to be a popular place to munch your way through carnivorous delights, mainly burgers. There are veggie options. Lots of beer selections too. With friendly staff and an interesting setting this place is well worth a visit if you are in the area.
I. V. B.
Decent but service takes long, music is too loud and food isn't worth the price
A. P.
Pros: the food here is really fantastic, seriously delicious burgers and great fries, they were also playing great funk and soul and the place itself looks great with the Gilbert and George tiled ceiling and industrial look
Cons: the craft beers on tap were below average - weak and fairly tasteless, the camel hoof cocktail was also pretty disgusting despite the 30 quid price tag. The other issue was the service, it took ages to take our orders, the staff were very rude and dismissive and there is also a strange door policy to not let you sit at a table until your entire party has arrived, which was pretty annoying.
Overall this is definitely worth a visit for the food and ambiance, but be prepared to feel unwelcome.
M. L.
No complaints on the burger, meat cooked to perfection and some great flavors coming through the cheese and sauce. Chicken strips were a good side, loved the sauce they come with. Overall very impressed, looking forwards to trying something else off the menu.
T. R.
MeatMission in a word is greasy. Depending on how you feel about food that can either be a good thing or a bad thing. It's a really interesting looking restaurant and the cocktail list is pretty good but the food is definitely calorie laden. I love this place but unfortunately the food can be very hit and miss. Sometimes it can be cold or not cooked properly and the portion sizes can vary wildly. That being said, if you get them on a good night? It's absolutely delicious. An average meal with drinks will set you back around £25 and the service in general isn't friendly but everything comes pretty quickly.
Favourite food items: monkey fingers & the garbage plate.
If you're going on a weekend make sure to make a reservation.
J. K. (.
Nice and filling food with good and quick service. The only drawback was the waitress cheekily adding an "optional" tip to my bill.
In response to Roberta, thank you for the sarcastic remark about “service charge”...I do know what the charge is for. It would be nice to be given that option instead of already putting the charge on my bill even if I have the option to remove it. Because of the sarcastic remark I’m dropping my review to 3 stars and won’t be returning thank you!
T. B.
This is very authentic. I really enjoyed the hippie sauce and the burger. Its a great place for Americans in the UK to go to feel at home a little bit.Just dont order any bacon. Its the only thing on the menu that is nothing like American style bacon. Its more like thick Canadian style bacon.
S.
Brilliant food and clean environment, shame the service isn't quite up to scratch. After asking twice for no ice as they fill your cup they kept on giving us so much ice I kinda felt like I was in the Titanic... Quality chicken though.
A suggestion to anyone, get the chicken Parma burger... My days you won't be disappointed, spicy Cajun chips to go with that and you're sorted 👌
O. M.
From the atmosphere to the amazing food. It’s now my favourite go to restaurant!
D. H.
The decor is insane and evil in the best possible way. It really invokes a complete sense of irreverence. The staff were amazingly helpful and attentive. The music selection was appropriate and at just the right volume. I haven't mentioned anything about the food because it's beyond the simple words of a puny mortal. Try the Monkey Fingers, buy the book.
N. D.
great burgers!!
buffalo chicken burger is great. fries are delicious. fried pickles.
haven't tried any desserts but would guess they are good too. they look it!
cocktails are good too.
very american flavors - great for when you need a hit of meat! (a lot of it!)
H. B.
Awesome interior with great staff! However while the Chilli Cheese Fries were super filling, the burgers were only just good enough to not be average. Minus the awesome setting and cool music, it's more or less just your regular burger house.
Z.
I LOVED it here. The food was better that my expectations. The monkey fingers were a little bit too hot. But £3 for a photo? I thought that was a bit much considering I had a picture taken in a booth not far from here for £1. Overall it was amazing. I would definitely come again
W. P.
Great place to drink and eat with a group of friends, not somewhere to go on a date as it's not very personal. Staff are helpful and friendly. Food quality is alright, burgers are tiny and the pricing for them needs to be rethought. Chips are good and got a range of styles to pick from.
M. C.
Visited for works Xmas party, very good!
S. S.
It's a burger joint and they do spicy food as well so be ready for that!! Burgers are just delicious. They are the best burgers I've tasted. It's also fun to go with a group of friends as they have a photo booth so you can make memories of the night. Really funky art work. People who love their art and eating out will very much appreciate this restaurant. Good value for money.
A. G.
Lunch deal is great value. Highly recommend the Buffalo burger (though could do with more blue cheese!) And the portion of fries on the side was crispy, salty and very generous. Bottomless soda is always welcome especially when it can be replaced with cider for a small upcharge.
R. C.
The venue is good over all with a nice Hoxton location. The restaurant has a nice feel to it. The drinks were very nice and the monkey fingers are the best thing on the menu. We ordered so many of them they ran out in the end! They burger was a disappointing and one had to be sent back. This was strange as everything else was of a high quality. I would defo go back and give them a seocod chance!
A. M.
Love it. The burgers, as in any of the three in the meat* chain, are awesome. The chilli cheese fries are to die for. This one has a nice layout of a single area, including the bar, so it is also great to people watch. It also features live music, usually great choices and not too overwhelming. Absolutely recommend it. Also you have to go for the dead hippie stuff (burger and fries).
A. A.
Amazing service. Shout out to Natalie, Coral and the guy who did an amazing job with a stag do with 30 lads.
K. K.
A fantastic place to get heartburn. Great food and cocktails. I used to visit regularly with my dishwater-dull ex boyfriend. The good flavours never failed to take the edge off his empty promises and hypocritical moralising about politics, lifted from things he had read on Facebook.
J. L.
Great food, great service - one of the best burgers in London!
A.
Quality is always consistently good, have been going here for years and the food is always great. Cocktails are great too, they do a good espresso martini! Will likely always find myself in this place from time to time.
R. Z.
Went here for a Xmas party never been before. Had the buffalo chicken burger, one of the best burgers I've ever had. Good atmosphere and nice staff too. Will definitely be going back.
S. S.
Absolutely delicious burger and fries. Whilst the food was amazing, I want to equally mention the staff who were fantastic. Incredibly friendly and helpful in selecting food/beers. Definitely be returning!
M. A.
Great atmosphere on a Friday and Saturday night if you are eating in, cheeseburgers are beautiful and cooked to your liking - I like mine medium rare just beautiful meat. Chicken burgers are very generous and again so tasty. So good we order takeaway for the team on Thursday nights for a little pre-Friday treat The Meat mission team are pretty good to us!
D. L.
Awesome place - much brighter and less claustrophobic than its sister restaurant, MEATLiquor. The service was a little slow as it is always very busy, however staff were polite, friendly and helpful. The burgers were incredible and so were the chilli and hippie fries. Great value for money for such a delicious meal. Also a nice touch to provide customers with a huge amount of kitchen roll, as the burgers can get messy!
J. P.
There's something fantastic about getting a huge tray of food, with no plate, and just getting stuck in. But maybe not for everyone!
Lots of tasty stuff, and the atmosphere & interior are excellent. The photo booth is a nice little addition, especially after a couple of cocktails.
Make sure to book at the weekend - we came quite early for dinner and still had to wait 30 minutes for a table. But the monkey fingers and dead hippy fries made up for it.
L. T.
Excellent service - Lucas and Natalia delivered super quickly even though it was a busy night, will definitely be back!
L. S.
Always good what I personally like is that the meat patties are not huge ,but very tasty & you get 2 with each burger.Their weekday specials are very good £10.00 For burger drink, & chips ,not bad in this day & age .
If you are interested in history the building has a very interesting history.
D. K.
Thought I was back in Williamsburg. Not just because of the decor, but the patrons seemed to have arrived directly from Brooklyn. A lot of plaid. The food was good. London has definitely picked up their game in the culinary space. Burgers were awesome. The fries (or chips) are the shoestring variety. I ordered the chili ones which were nice, but in the future, I'd suggest just the plain fries or cheese fries since the other toppings just drown out the fries. Nicked some of my mate's wings and they were good and spicy. Beer from a jug was different, but good. I felt a little naughty being in the place - kind of like being in purgatory of sorts due to the hellish decor.
B. W.
Music was a bit too loud but the food was up to the quality meat liquor standard. The got dogs are a nice lighter addition to the menu and are quickly becoming my favourite.
U. K.
Service was a bit strange but the Burger and chilli cheese fries were the best i have ever had and I have eaten my share of burgers. If you are looking for burger perfection in taste this is as close as you can get. Presentation wise yeah sure you can get nicer but hey in the end what counts is the taste and it’s on point at the meatmission.
J. k.
Been here twice now....manybyears apart love the decor and love the vibe. Really flexible with food being ordered as we needed to have quick meeting first and the food was so tasty......burger with pastrami in it and salad and loaded fries. Reasonable price and now a massive vegi menu too.
L. M. B.
The absolute freaking best burger meat and hot dog I ever had. The hot dog has everything it needs in the exact amount it needs it in. The mustard is perfect and spicy. I loved it. An absolut must! And the cocktails are amazing as well.
O. I.
Love the food. The buffalo chicken burger is insane! The venue is super cool......very east london. Would have been 5 stars if service hadn't been a bit slow
p. b.
Louis was amazing!! Great service will coming soon
J. C.
Arguably the best restaurant I have ever eaten at. Inventive options, very cool interior, friendly staff. Good beer and good burgers; what more can you ask for? Despite its name, it does also have vege/vegan burgers (which are fantastic). Can not wait to make the 70+ mile treck back to London purely so I can bring my friends to this place. If I could give it 6 stars I would.
E. M.
Burgers okay, the chicken Monkey fingers were very nice though. Chips good too. Just needed some plates as paper napkins wasn't good enough.
Decor fab! Love the atmosphere in there, staff helpful once you're seated (they're a bit stubborn & unhelpful when you're trying to get a nicer table and they won't seat you unless your whole party is present which isn't super helpful straight after work. )
J. F. U.
A classic to visit many times over (monkey fingers are unmissable! ✋ 🐒)
J. H.
Easily my favourite restaurant in London. The burgers are fantastic but it's really all about the sides (monkey fingers). The atmosphere and service are great every time.
Also has amazing beer on tap.
D. A.
Been here a few times, this place is way better than the noisy, greasy meat locker off Bond Street. You can book a table and don't need to queue for ages. I've been in and out in less than 25 minutes, that's how quick service can be here! One of the best burgers in London with great service to match. w
O. H.
Another excellent London burger venue, but this one is set in a former mission meaning the venue is pretty authentic - stained glass and stone wall plaques included. Burgers are ace and arrive with huge sides on enormous trays piled high with food, and a good selection of drinks including cocktails too. A pilgrimage for fans of Americana.
E. N.
Great beer, awesome food and cool atmosphere. Set in an old church, I tried both a chicken and a beef burger and I gotta recommend the beef! I've been to many churches, but I've never felt so close to God
I. W.
Music is a bit loud for conversation and the food isn't captivating enough to replace the experience of hearing your companions.
B. H.
A place for special occasions. This is as urban as it gets! Food is actually good if you can get over the fact that there will be no plates on your table. It's like a disco with a built in food truck where basically all the people are completely drunk. I loved it.
J. N.
Style over substance. I want to love it and it's fun and raucous. Staff are great and hustle. But every time I go I enjoy the first half hour and then want to leave. Just feels like it's trying too hard. And there is no love in the food. It's good, but not a patch on the NY burger joints it is trying to emulate. And I almost always have an upset stomach the day after eating at any Meat Liquor branch.
I. H.
I've had some of the best burgers of my life at MEATmarket and MEATmission, better than anything in the UK, USA or anywhere else. I also had my first bourbon vanilla milkshake, which has become a favourite.
On my last visit i took colleagues telling then the burgers were amazing. Unfortunately the patties lacked flavour and our dead hippies were underwhelming. To make matters worse the bourbon milkshake seemed smaller and less inspiring, my colleague compared it to baileys, which isn't favourable in my mind.
I look forward to my next visit and hope it returns to 5 star form.
J. M.
Wonderful atmosphere. Very busy if coming later in eve - best to book in advance but food was amazing and the atmosphere was super. Shall be coming back here maybe for the start of a birthday night out for sure. Get the dead hippie with a side of fries you will be happy!
A. G.
Had a burger from here which was very tasty and love their Hippie sauce. Had the Dead Hippie burger with Chilli Cheese Fries, more than enough for one person. The price does reflect the quality, high price, high quality. Even better, I haven't turned into a hippie...........yet!
L. L.
Strangely enough, veggie burger was nice. Mushrooms and vegetables in a well constructed bun formation. Chips and onion rings vegan. Good beer choices, but slight dispute with staff over bill splitting with other people in my group.
M. N.
One of my favourite spots, you definitely get your hands dirty. Fantastic choice of drinks as well. Would definitely recommend the braai wings and Mac n cheese!! Service can be a bit slow however, but overall a great place.
A. I.
Do a good cheese & bacon burger, buffalo wings good as well and the cheesy, gravy chips! Only complain is the coke is engulfed by ice and you’re done in two sips, ask for no ice and get charge extra, and the price can be a little steep for a full meal. Staff & service are always good & nice quirky atmosphere! :)
J. V.
Went for lunch on a busy day. The food took a little longer than usual therefore the house bought us a round. It's nice when the company and staff understand the value of good service. Will definitely go there again (we usual do once a week)
O. M.
Very good burgers, nice atmosphere, interesting decor. Casual place, loud music
H. V.
Came here for the first time a while ago for a friend's birthday. I absolutely love the atmosphere here and the decor is to die for. And don't get me started on the food, super delicious, the chips and cheese Lord have mercy, keep them coming kind of thing you know. Totally recommend it.
A. J.
Place is always busy but we never waited to long for a seat. Food as always is great and service was good this time around although a little slow.. but again they where busy so easily forgiven.
Great place to grab some food and highly recommend trying if you've never been! Decor is fantastic and unlike anything else your see!
S. F. S.
Of all the "trendy" new burger joints I've tried, this is the best. The actual food itself is deep and plenty, and the burger was spot on. Having said that, points deducted for the milkshake machine being broken, meaning us teetotallers were left with the usual "Coke? Water?" options, slow service when really not busy at all, and the much-vaunted "Dead Hippie Sauce"...which must be the Emperor's New Clothes of sauces, because it didn't taste of anything. I'd honestly still go to Byron's or Hache instead, given the choice.
K. R.
The MEATmission has a lot going for it namely the quality burgers, the friendly staff and a good location if you happen to work in Shoreditch or like to visit the area as many do.
However, it seems management has overestimated the value it delivers given the outrageous prices for cocktails (£12 for an amateurish Muay Mai Thai Mai cocktail; £5.75 for Hippie Fries - don't bother).
If you're looking for a decent pint maybe drop in for a drink but definitely avoid the low-quality and massively overpriced cocktails and fries.
N. E.
Great burgers and sides it's all banging. Whenever I am anywhere near one of their locations I always try to go and get myself a dead hippie and some chili cheese fries. And if I'm feeling really hungry a portion of monkey fingers.
A. T.
The food is what you expect, can work out quite expensive but portion sizes good and food is also to a good standard.
Recommend onion rings and mac and cheese. Side orders sizes enough to share if you have a couple.
G. H.
Tasty burgers and wing. A fun place to hangout and have a pint. I love the hip, edgy ambiance. Staff is helpful and friendly. Nice, but not expansive, craft beer selection.
P. L.
My favourite of the MEAT restaurant family because you can actually book - goodbye hour long queues, hello meat goodness! The burgers are amazing and there are some brilliant sides. Make sure you to the new Monkey Fingers, which are basically boneless chicken wings smothered in spicy sauce. The cocktails are all top notch and the house grog is dangerous and delicious in equal measure. The decor is also pretty cool, having some of the original stained glass from the old Christian mission that used to be on the site.
J. C.
I liked meat mission. But unfortunately it fell just short of my 5 star criteria. The good bits: My burger was perfect. The meat was delicious and cooked perfectly. Toppings were exact ratios and perfectly selected. This is what a burger should be!! I would return for this alone. The other bits: The chilli cheese fries were a let down. But I think that's the fault of the concept of this dish in general rather than this particular version of chilli cheese fries (who wants soggy chips!!). Also it was just too dark and loud in there. I see where they were going with the atmosphere and it probably works really well on a Saturday night with a few drinks, but it detracts from the food - especially for lunch.
L. H.
Visited after the Adidas 10k in Shoreditch. Restaurant was busy but staff are very attentive and the food was amazing. Kids portions were perfect in size and the Dead Hippie is highly recommended!
S. R.
Tastey food and reasonably priced too. There's a good selection of beer to help wash the food down, which came in handy because the fries were VERY salty (I eneded up leaving most of mine). Other than that everything was good. I'll probably be back if I'm in the area again.
A. S.
Diana was fantastic and the food was great. Onion rings especially were incredible! Highly recommend!
H. C.
Really liked this place when I went. Yes, the benches you sit on are uncomfortable, there's not much room and you have to share trays to eat off, but the burgers are really, really incredible. Best burger I've had in London.
R.
Great food and great staff, shout out to the bartender Krystian!
H. B.
One thing this place does amazingly is range, they have an option for everyone's tastes
S. C.
Service was really slow. They then brought out the wrong side dish. When we wanted to pay, we had to ask four different people for the card machine. Burgers were good (as usual) though!
A. H.
Greasy, American style burgers! Perfect in winter as comfort food. The beer on tap is also brilliant. They have a ton of different fry options on offer as well.
A. D.
I had a brilliant experience due to Lucas who told me the perfect items to order as well as providing excellent service
M. W.
Interesting experience. Restaurant in what appears to be a church. Fast service, perfect menu for me - burgers. Quite loud, staff helpful. Turned out expensive. They have a chili challenge to get free food if that's your thing. Usually very busy so useful to book in advance. Try the monkey fingers!!
R. G.
Best burgers in town.
S. K.
Good food, edgy vibe and really helpful staff. Nice place to eat
M. k.
Really nice restaurant to visit. Meals are quite pricey (unless you just want a burger without fries), but foods really good. Drinks aren't too expensive. Would really recommend the triple chilli challenge, for a friend....
E. O.
Quite disappointed in this one as I went to the one in Angel previously and loved it. The food was very bland, customer service from our first waitress wasn't great and we felt rushed from our table oncr we had paid. I love the chain but most likely will not be returning to this particular location.
I. B.
Great burger, amazing fries. Priced well too.
A. C.
'Catholicism meets Evangelism meets Meat' sums up this place pretty well. The food and decor are both a party for the senses. Nevertheless, I did appreciate the free cocktail you get if you join their mailing list! Loved this place, can't wait to go back. It really felt like the mecca of a meat/burger pilgrimage.
M. S.
Expect around an hour of queuing on weekday evenings if you haven't booked - but it's well worth it. The layout is spacious, less cramped than Meat Liquor in the city and service is quick. The Donkey Punch (served in a steel tumbler) and Game Over cocktails are both very potent but delicious. Try the garbage plate, bingo wings & monkey fingers to start, and one of the chili burgers if you have space left over.
E. F.
Many consider this the place with the best burgers in London. I'm not 100% in agreement, but food is nice and the place has a rock vibe. Just avoid their fries, really bad quality - McDonald style.
J. J.
Loved it!! Had the Hippy pie combining a burger and a pie was always going to a hit with me 😀😋
A. G.
Been here a few times, the food really hits the spot. Big fan of the wings and the buffalo burger. Very reasonably priced, 2 of us ate well for around £30. I would like to see some American desserts added to the menu - that would complete it for me!
H. L.
Burgers and your normal meat options. Not a great fan of how meals are served, went with friends and we got all our food served on a small tray, no cutlery nor napkins and we all huddled around the miniscule tray as tiny chipmunks around a pile of nuts. However the food is pretty tasty and I would recommend Meat Mission if there was less of a mission to enjoy your food.
J. S.
The food portions are too big. Lol. The chicken burger was over fried... only the chips, chicken wings and fingers were good. Everything else was just not good enough, the food came seemingly at random with all orders mixed up, quite disappointed really.
A. L. S.
Overall it was nice, but I had the vegan burger and it was really oily (as the deep fried pickles), the chips were ok but not memorable, the cocktails and the service were really good.
m. s.
Really really tasty cheeseburger, one of the best ive had - just could have been a bit larger! Some reviews are saying that the burgers are not cooked "well done", true but our waiter gave us the option of having it cooked well done. Good selection of decent beers, unlike the zero choice unpalatable PeroniFoster served in some restaurants. Nice idea to sell the three pint pitcher to share at a lower pro rata price - served in a nice glass pitcher.
Only downside for me was it was a bit dingy, especially from the outside - we initially thought it had closed down! I guess they are just trying to create a certain vibe. Just personal preference really.
I. A.
Love love love love love the food and service was awesome!!! Defo going back with mates.
C. S.
Interesting place that my co-workers took me to while in town. The Buffalo Chicken burger was cooked perfectly - the outside was crisp while the inside was moist and tender. Flavor was as expected - like buffalo wings and bleu cheese.
Had the Barelli Wings as well - essentially blackened chicken wings - dry rubbed - moist, flavorful. I enjoyed these as much as the Buffalo Chicken.
I. S.
These meat joints that don't really. Specialise in meat are cropping up everywhere in the gentrified areas of London and this one is no different.
The food is OK at best. More like street food. Again these places are focused on groups. I just wish these places decided to up the ante a little and provide something that you will not get at next doors diner.
I. S.
Good burger. Serves until midnight on Saturday and Friday. Service is ok.
J. J.
Good selection of burgers. With a lunch special menu- £10 for burger, fries & a drink! Love the stain glass and the original fixtures
D. S.
It's not good for you, but don't get me wrong it is delicious, in an all american hero I love wings and dirty hotdogs kind of way. It's really good bad food.
The cocktails are good, and the bar staff know what they are doing when they have time to breath.
It's decor is cool, the ceilings is reminiscent of Gilbert and George. The space makes the most of the fact it used to be an old mission/convent.
T. K.
Another win by the MeatLiquor team. Set in an old church complete with WWII plaque, MeatMission gets a 10/10 for ambience. Epic burgers, chicken bites and sides the buffalo chicken burger and hippie fries are the best (as a Californian, they're the closest you can get to animal style In N Out), but the chili fries give them a run for their money. Great place for a group, and overall, a total London favorite.
R. A.
Food is fabulous, but this place has Shoreditch syndrome whereby it is more bothered by its weird hipster image than actually getting the service right. It is very dark and loud in there, almost like eating in a bar. Inanely busy, but good if you like that sort of thing. Personally I'm less interested in my waiter having an undercut and flesh plugs than actually being able to see my food and hear my companions.
A. C.
Very cool place and very friendly service.
A. V.
It is a good burger place. But I feel like the burgers have been slightly changing and are not really the same as before. The last time I was there My meat was quite dry and it is a little overpriced for what you get at the end.
S. H.
Excellent as ever. Good prices. Nice and spicy. Vegan and veggie options are good. Décor is cool. Wait staff are friendly and attentive. Good casual dining
A. K.
Staff service was very friendly, and helpful, food was cheap , tho some of my peers did not enjoy their meal , they found the burgers to be too basic , and the seating was not the most comfortable. However I would go again and the atmosphere is great .
K. H.
Great food, great cocktails and grear service (even though they forgot to putbour order in and we waited over 1.5 hours for the food to arrive, they were very apologetic and lovely and more than made it up to us). Also great vegan and veggie options even though its caled meat mission! great location too!
S. R.
Nice friendly staff. Food was very nice. Would recommend. The menu is limited but great little place would go back. X
A. N. T.
The exact combination of gothic London and tender crisps with a tasty Mission Burger. Beer comes in jugs and the interior design of the place is awesome - mosaic windows and a big Eye of Providence in the centre of the roof, make it worth experiencing for the ambiance alone.
Burgers are good sized, well cooked and saucy; I loved the hallumi burger as well and service was efficient both times I went. The only real bad note is that is a bit expensive.
T. R.
What a nonsense place (in a positive way) with extraordinary food. The burguers are awasome and there's some veggie things as well. The sound is a bit too loud so if you want to have quiet conversations is not the best place but for dinner with friends is a nice place.
G. C.
This restaurant has a great interior with a bar near the entrance. The cocktails are well made and interesting beers on tap. The joint does great burgers and fries. Highly recommend the hippie fries.
P. P.
Great place for a bit of filth, monkey fingers are always a winner! Beer menu is also very neat!
M. L.
Pretty expensive for a burger joint but I would definitely go back to try new things on their menu. You should count about £15-20 per person for a burger, a drink and few sides to share. The decor is quite fun and the service is friendly.
C. B.
Great food and atmosphere. Loud, friendly and energetic. The deep fried pickles is must. Burgers were perfectly cooked.
A. R.
First timers will really love meat missions great atmosphere and food. Burgers and large fries covered in chilli come out on boards, similar to other american style diners. they serve some of the best chicken wings around as well, in my personal and humble opinion. It's a great place to take friends visiting the city or even a date if they don't mind getting a little messy. Burgers have to always be combined with a big jug of beer and a couple of lethal house grogs.
A. H.
Meat Mission, if you're familiar with Meat Liquor and Meat Market will not let you down in providing the same kind of fantastically greasy, dirty indulgence.
The burgers are the same across all of the franchise but what got me coming back here was The Garbage Plate (sadly long ago removed from the menu) and what keeps me going is the Monkey Fingers. Although they may sound ominous they're a great alternative to chicken wings. If like me you love the crispness of chicken wings and all of the delicious hot sauce and accompaniments but are not so so keen on the bones this is for you!
The cocktails are great here too I enjoy the Pisco Punch and they serve a good selection of beers.
Top all this with the fact that you're dining in an old church and you'll find yourself having an interesting experience!
A. O.
Good burgers albeit a little messy.
The monkey fingers are okay but not amazing.
I loved the fact that they take orders by email and the staff are really friendly.
Unfortunately once you past the layers of hipsterish pretentiousness and hype you're left with a burger joint that's not as good as the Bukowski Grill or even the average branch of Byron.
S. D.
Think MEATliquor, but bigger, with additional meaty treats on the menu and without the hour-long queues. The reservation system here is a total lifesaver, and essential if you want nothing to stand in the way of your feast. Much like its Central London sister, the menu consists of messy burgers with juicy, thick patties and a variety of fried, meaty sides. The cocktails are also potent and although some of them are questionably named, they're delicious. 'Space Gin Smash' and 'Time of the Month' are my personal favourites!
j. p. S.
Great burger, definitely will go back again. Never seen a giant onion rings as they do there. Nice selection of cocktails
R. M.
Meat _+ liquour with the added benefits of booking. a slightly brighter space. but for me its conveniently located, does good burgers and booze. the staff are nice and and if you go in the afternoon you can have a really chilled out lunch. IF you want more raucous fun you can do that too. Good fun allround
Now with added delivery options. while only just over 2 years old seems like an institution.
J. T.
Hey! I need to specify why 4 stars and not 5!
We always have a great time. However it is always a Russian roulette to know whether we will be able to make it because one cannot book. If only!
Highly recommend for a burger fries and a couple of grogs with a bunch of friends
g. l.
Incredible burger, and fantastic surroundings.
G. Y.
The perfect place to feast and sin :). They dont take reservations so we queued up for 40mins on a Thursday eve. It's a church-like venue with stainless glass windows and feels pretty grand for an epic feast. The meals are reasonable and the cocktails are great, highly recommended.
P. T.
Amazing value at lunchtime and great service. Loved it.
S.
Staff are awesome. Food is greasy in a delicious way..Monkey fingers and Green chili fries are yum. Cocktails to die for. Shout out to Lina the Bar Manager xx
A. B.
Meat Misson is a vibrant bar-restaurant with a great selection of drinks and cocktails, and an ever-reliable food menu. While none of the food is particularly healthy, it's a great place for a dirty burger with a good vegetarian option, a couple of solid chicken choices, as well as the obligatory beef specialities.
K. S.
Excellent food and drink, always enjoy my visits here. One of the times I visited we had many problems with incorrect orders, but this only happened one of the many times I've been here. Great atmosphere. Come hungry, leave drunk. Can confirm.
J. T.
Visited Meat Mission for the second time, and found it to be better than I remembered. The food is what you might expect from somewhere that sells itself as a no nonsense burger joint. A good choice of different burgers, and other american faire. Oh, and it's messy too... expect to make full use of the paper towels provided. A great cocktail menu and choice of beers also make this the perfect place for a lazy lunch with friends. Recommended when in town, and seeking a laid back belly filling.
J. M.
Couple of times I've visited now when down in London. I think the food is great, very hands on sloppy dirty burgers - so dont expect white table cloths. This is food to be eaten with your hands - they provide a whole kitchen roll per table!
Cool concept in what was previously a christian ministry - noticed they even have a radio studio, which is something i've not seen before in a restaurant!
A. M.
Really tasty buffalo chicken burger with fries and bottomless drinks in the lunch menu are great value for the price. Cozy place, however, service could be way better.
A. B.
Food was great and plentiful. Staff were friendly and attentive and the food came out fairly quickly. The only downside was that the dessert was a bit below par
R. P.
Burgers, monkey fingers and chilli cheese fries! What else would you need. Great food. I'm a huge fan of all of their chain restaurants. This place is definitely worth the wait.
H. J. S.
I prefer Meat Mission to it's more frequently mentioned sister, Meat Liquor, mainly because the queues have always been smaller in my experience. Sure, it's like eating dinner in a nightclub but the music is great, the building is gorgeous and once your food arrives you won't want to be anywhere else.
The hideously named 'Time of the Month' cocktail is actually one of the best cocktails I've ever had and not to be missed (gin, red wine and strawberry juice). As for the food, burgers are about £7-9 for a perfectly sized patty and cooked medium rare, just ask if you'd like it well done. I frequently daydream about their deep fried pickles with blue cheese dressing. A bowl of fries is huge and plenty to share between 2.
I like to roll home afterwards. Not recommended pre-dancing!
L. S. (.
I love chicken burgers and I must admit this is probably one of the tastier ones I've had.
The decor inside is a bit Buffy and fairly small.
But get in, fill your face and then walk it off.
R.
My favourite burger bar. Low lit (positively dark) church themed and with its own DJ/radio station. The Dead Hippie is the place to start for newbies - a Big Mac for the Hoxton Hipsters.
A. M.
The place is a site to behold and has amazing burgers. The beers are served large and the spot is best enjoyed after a night out. Large crowd but easy to get in late.
S. M.
Many of the grill and BBQ joints now are getting so...samey. Same old brisket, pulled pork, wings, burgers etc. This place however was nice breath of fresh air. The 'monkey fingers' were a great meaty alternative to fries and the sausage in the hot dog was actually made of meat! Really tasty meal. Quite pricey yet it presented fair value considering the portion size. I also really liked the chilli that topped the hot dog, again real meat. Even these so called grill houses sometimes cheat on their chilli and wing it with a can. Not this place it seems.
The decor of the place was also very cool. I especially liked the un-PCness of the 'open mouth doll heads' on the wall coupled with the unHOLY atmosphere. As a single eater I was also made to feel welcome and not made to feel that I was taking up valuable space that could be utilized by a group. Thanks all. I would visit again!
J. G.
A solid meal and a great selection of beers. The décor was great, but I have to say it didn't live up to my experience at the MEATliquor in Leeds, which had a live DJ, faster service and their milkshake machine was working!
C. F.
This is the ideal guilty pleasure burger joint in Shoreditch. If you are feeling adventurous, you can get chili added to almost any dish, the burger, hot dog, or the french fries. It's pretty spicy, so expect a big kick if you smother your food in it.
Also, every now and then, someone will attempt the chili challenge, where they race against the clock to eat a chili dog, chili burger and plate of chili fries in one sitting. If they finish everything faster than previous challengers (there is a top 20 board in the main dining room with the top finishers, the fastest being under 3 minutes) they get the meal for free.
A. G.
Decor was different (stained glass, etc... as other reviews have mentioned), so is quite down to earth/rustic. Food was OK... not amazing, but certainly nothing to complain about. Not somewhere I would make a special effort to come to again, but definitely somewhere to consider if you already happen to be in the area.
S. F.
Quite an unusual experience, certainly not your standard burger joint. Went on a Friday night and you could have been forgiven for thinking it was more a bar that sells food than a restauant that sells drinks.
The menu doesnt have a huge amount of food choices, but I decided on the Red Chilli burger which, while tasty, wasnt enough on its own and our table seemed to think that the food was maybe a bit too greasy, despite being tasty. Hot food fans may consider the Chilli challenge, which I was tempted by but wisely decided against it.
A good spot if you're looking for a wide choice of drinks and a decent burger to go with them, but if you're looking for a nice burger and a good chat there may be better alternatives. Also book in advance, the place is massively popular with locals.
T. A.
Great burger and and awesome beer selection. Although the Yakima Red was off on my visit :( But the FourPure IPA made up for it. Look forward to visiting again.
S. F.
Really great evening and atmosphere. Sam, our waiter, was particularly helpful/attentive
R. K.
Best buffalo chicken burger and of course all other burgers are good. Not the best lighting. Can be fill up quickly at lunch times.
D. P.
Amazing. Little bit pricey but most definetly worth it. Burger and chips are the best. Make sure you try the monkey finger (not actual monkey fingers. more chicken breast strips in hot sauce)
J. G.
Great staff, excellent food, fun accommodations! Best burger I’ve had in London. Would definitely recommend.
D. F.
Had half of the dead hippy and half of the dirty chicken burger. The latter is far better for me. The onion fries are a bit strange. Just thin wafer-less pieces. The gravy chips are sinfully good and I always order the deep fried pickles. Be prepared to do lot of exercise to work this off after! But this Meatmission in comparison to their other branches is nice and gothic. Built on an old church I think which is nicely apt for the name.
A. G.
The pastrami burger was quite good but the service was slow (more than 40 since we ordered till we got our burgers), the tables are extremely small, and the dishes were served all on the same trail for the table, not ideal if you go out with colleagues
C. L.
The food here is so good, the venue is beautiful and the staff are nice. Its my go to food place when I'm in Old Street. The monkey fingers are the best
A. ,.
Sabi was amazing .... burger was the best thing I put in my mouth
Couldn't have been more welcoming x
E. M. R. J.
A really cool experience. Well several ones.
Now, ask for monkey fingers.
You can start a friendship as you can break it, depending on how many monkey fingers you are willing to share with your mate. They are just delicious.
The old church building and decoration inside feels warming and confortable. Burgers are tasty and satisfying, beer is fine too. Mc 'n cheese and all. But seriously, monkey fingers. Like an apostolic client who preaches "you shall try monkey fingers at Meatmission".
K. G.
Visited for dinner after work and the place was rammo. We managed to get some seats at the bar whilst we waited for a table (20 or 30 minutes). Love the big pitchers you can share with friends - if you want to hear yourself speak, go for seating in the side room next to the main bar.
D. J.
Great Burgers in a really funky athmosphere. The whole place looks like a church. Oh, yeah - It will be loud. They had punkrock blasting out of the speakers when we enjoyed our cheeseburgers 😋🎵⚡️
S. B.
Burger was fine, fries were outstanding!
M. T.
From the moment you step off Hoxton Square, MEATmission buzzes with atmosphere of people enjoying their food. One of the advantages of being so clear about their Meat Mission - I imagine that most know what they are in for and few are disappointed. Our eyes were drawn to the three chili challenge, but we settled for something tamer instead - we weren't disappointed. If you like big meat flavours washed down with big steins of beer, leaving so stuffed you can barely fit through the exit doors, this is the perfect spot.
H. C.
Always a fave. Sabi is amazing 🤩 🍔 🥓
D.
Had a cracking burger and went a bit crazy on the picklebacks - who knew that a short of pickle juice was the perfect accompaniment to a bourbon? I can only wonder what manner of horrifying tests they had to do before they discovered that one. Fun night out.
G. H.
Best burgers in town
L. M.
A fantastic place if you want burgers and beers. Highly recommend. Frequesnt customer. The food tastes amazing. If you download the Drinki App, you will get 25% off your bill!
M. P.
I love MEATmission. So meaty and set in a mission. My very favourite dishes are the dirty hippy burger, with sides of monkey fingers and cajun fries. They also have excellent craft beers, although you can only order as 2/3 of a pint, 2 or 3 pints. But they do come in a giant demijon, so there is that. You absolutely must book at evenings and weekends.
l. f.
This is one of the places I love in this area. It seems like a church, burgers are nice and good vibes every time I visit.
You can get jug of beers and the music rocks.
R. J.
MeatMission is tucked off Hoxton Square in an old mission hall, grungily resplendent with stained glass ceilings and winding staircases, and is constantly busy. We had half an hour's wait so sat at the industrial bar with a 2/3 pint of beer and a Hoxton Fizz (something involving strawberry, pear, vodka and champagne) whilst the 'burgerettes' bustled around us, bussing groaning platters of burgers to the braying masses.
Menus are hymn books professing dinners of 'Garbage Plates', 'Monkey Fingers' and 'The Dead Hippie'. I went for the Green Chili Cheeseburger - beef patty, cheese, chili butter, red onions, pickles, lettuce, mustard and ketchup - and it came deliciously rare, accompanied by tangy slaw and fries. This is no place to stand on ceremony - cutlery is few and far between and you're encouraged to get stuck in and cover yourself in grease.
The burger itself was great, but exceedingly messy, with half of it sliding onto the tray despite my well-meaning attempts to get it actually in my mouth. The tanginess of the chili and pickles were a welcome flavour and as mentioned above, my request for rare was met perfectly (they're normally served medium rare). We washed it down with a demi-john of Vedett beer and a side of accomplishment.
Service was good despite the bustle and the prices were reasonable - £7.50 for my burger. The Meat family began as one of those pop-up successes, doing one thing and doing it well. It's another place that's capitalising on the favoured industrial-dark decor, but it suits its purpose. For taking me over to the dark side, I give MeatMission a three out of five.
A. B.
Great burger, even better onion rings.
F. L.
One of the best burgers you can find in London. Dead hippie is the way to go. Good selection of beers and the location in pretty cool.
J. W.
Love the burgers here and make sure you try the Monkey Fingers!
D. P.
If you are looking for a burger joint that will make you more full than on Christmas day after you've had your turkey, you should probably come here, if you are calorie counting, you should not.
What you'll get is a very Hoxton quirky restaurant in an old missionary, not much light, massive pitchers of cider to get you drunk rather easily.
This isn't really a pretentious place, people come here to eat meat, chips, meat, monkey fingers... and more meat, they also have a cool bar with cocktails. The veggie option is a halloumi burger which is pretty nice even for us non-veggies...
The only issue is the queuing it can get rather busy and no matter what the wait is, they'll always quote you 20 minutes, but you can go round the corner for a quick drink and wait.
They also do "Doggy Bags" for all the food you order and don't eat... which is usually a lot.
A. M.
The is the only one of the MEATfamily I'd rate as it combines all the best bits in one place. It's got the most diverse menu including a couple of stars that don't appear at the other locations - the buffalo chicken sandwich and the garbage plate - and the atmosphere is just right. Music-wise, it's a fairly mixed selection but the volume is low enough to allow easy conversation while high enough to provide cover for any awkward silences.
Best of all, you can book a table here but even for walk ins the wait tends to be around 30 minutes at most and you can wait at the bar which beats the hell out of the 1-1.5 hour wait outside for MEATliquor and you don't have to take chances with the food as I've found at MEATMarket.
All in all, a great place to start a night out in East London and one of my favourite places in Hoxton. Get over there - it's good times.
D. H.
Tasty food with a Canadian-style twist on burgers and fries. Good portions, friendly staff and a funky decor. Try the pickle jacks.
C. M.
One of the best burgers I have ever had. Loved the atmosphere, despite whatbit.lookedmlike from the outside. A great find that was a little off the path.
M. M.
The burgers are great, properly cooked and very tasty. Service in the other hand... Well it felt like they were doing us a favour.
S. S.
Monkey fingers. That's all you need to know. Crispy tender chicken coated in some ridiculously delicious sauce. Highly recommended. Staff are friendly enough but can come across rude when busy. Never left this place unsatisfied.
J. T.
Good sized burgers for the price. The sides are all sharing size too.
The tiny benches aren't the most comfortable if you don't get a booth.
D. G.
Went in last week with a few friends and the food was great. Especially good service from our waitress, Georgina, who was friendly, attentive & went out of her way to ensure we were fully looked after. Thanks all & thanks Georgina! :-)
M. D.
Meat Mission, the dirty love child of Meat Liquor and Meat Market, opened its doors in Hoxton quite a while ago. It was only last week that I was able to finally head down and see if they were able to keep up the good work of its parents. After finally managing to find the place tucked away in the back streets, we were surprised at just how big it was.
The main room was surprisingly well lit and so much brighter than the ‘dive bar’ feel of Meat Liquor. We took a look at the menu, which has quite a few new additions, and finally settled on trying the Currywurst Fries and Gravy Fries instead of the FoodNom favourite of Chilli Cheese Fries, you can’t have them every time you go right?? We also opted for the Dead Hippie Burgers and a side of Fried Pickles. The food arrived in the familiar lo-fi way, and we tucked in. The Currywurst was a revelation – delicious curry sauce smothered fries topped with slices of hot dog sprinkled with curry powder. I felt surprisingly let down by the Gravy Fries, despite then being smothered in sweet onions I found them a little tasteless.
Overall it was the same meaty-greasy-will-fill-you-with-guilt experience that we have all come to love. If you are in a large group then I’d definitely head here over a trip to Meat Liquor…for me though I think I’ll always prefer the dive bar and its Chilli Cheese Fries.
M. P.
They coped very efficiently with a large group of us out for an office lunch. Good deal on burger, fries & soft drink and the choice of extra beers and ciders was very good.
L. K.
Fantastic food, The burgers are amazing with loads of choice or construct your own, beef, chicken, meat free, sides, buffalo wings, easy to order too much but we'll worth it.
B. K.
Amazing night out with the fellas, excellent bar staff!!
P. C. T.
I really like this place. It was a little strange to me at the begging cause I don't use to eat with that high music and pub like lights but... it's London!!
Vety tasty burgers and fries. I'll be back for sure.
M. M.
I've been to the covent garden one, meat market, and while this is similar it has its own distinct (slightly heavy metal) style and mostly different menu.
The burgers are great, but quite a handful, this isn't 'fine dinning'. Even more of a messy treat is the peckham dip (think american french dip) its a mammoth roast beef sub with onions and a big pot of meaty gravy to dip into. its big enough for 2 to share - i was beaten by it!
But also some great other options, the curry wurst is an ample meal with fries.
In fact most of the items that are 'kinda starters' are big enough for a lunch meal.
The fried pickles are great too.
But head and shoulders my favourite was the monkey fingers, which are basically boneless buffalo wings.
L. C.
Atmosphere was a little lacking but the burger more than made up for it. Note, vegetarians can still be burger critical.. Perfectly cooked, squishy enough without falling apart and just enough cheese.
R. C.
Probably the best burger I have ever eaten. Expect a wait to be seated, but there's a great bar to keep you busy in the meantime.
J. W.
Tasty food and really friendly service. Even we had to wait a bit longer for our food last night, it was definitely worth it.
P. G.
Had to pop in for a 'Dead Hippie' burger. Nice burger, good fries and prices are reasonable for the area, service, ambience etc. Feels like an old church converted into a dinner with booths.
M. T.
intriguing place and good food!
good food and portions and reasonable prices. it can become a bit too loud/busy but nothing that can't be handled. the bar/club after hours is also interesting
D. E.
Cor' blimey I love it here. Forget Red Dog Saloon, Honest Burger or whatever you're favourite burger joint is. Get down here and order the Monkey Fingers, with some hippy fries and a hippy burger. You can't go wrong.
E. J.
I do love MEATMission but the food is SO salty.
Maybe that's the ploy they have going so customers drink more, I'm not sure. But as much as I'd love to eat my body weight in all the monkey fingers and garbage plates they can offer me off the menu, oh god the salt! It's like licking the oceans armpit sometimes.
The photobooth in here is ace though, amazing lighting. Makes everyone look like a mega babe even when they've just stuffed their face with chips and are struggling to stand due to the intense food coma.
C. C.
Good for a night out work friend. Selection of burgers and American beers is fabulous, all in the historic setting of the mission with a rockabilly touch. And the photo booth of course ...
e. m.
Great burgers. Green chili burger packs a punch. The chili cheese fries are an almighty portion. Sharing recommended. Fried pickles also great.
P. P.
Probably the nicest burger I've ever had in London, and the milkshakes are absolutely to die for.
Truly, this is a church the gods of meat would be proud to stick their names on!
B. T.
If you go there you got to have the mac and cheese chorizo bites. Amazing
R. J.
Probably best of the MEAT venues, spacious with a good atmosphere without being overly loud like MEATLiquor, or too cold like MEATMarket. Food is essentially the same, so if you love meat and grease, its a must visit.
Z. P.
The food is great! Had wings, mac 'n' cheese and onion rings and everything tasted great.
The only downside was that our table was dirty, always unpleasant to touch soggy substance by accident.
D. M.
Fantastic food and such a great setting/location! Enjoyed a Dead Hippie burger following the Shoreditch 10k. The staff were excellent and the food was brilliant!
A. B.
As the name suggests if you like meat you're in the right place, good selection of burgers and sides and reasonably priced for London. I recommend trying the Pickle Jack shots!
A. P.
Amazing venue and the food was really good, the burgers are to die for. Let down by the service though, took ages to get the staff's attention as they were chatting at the bar and they charged us for food they'd ran out of.
M. T.
I've been to all the MEAT experiences from the wagon to Easy to Liquor and Market -- and Mission feels like a real step forward. First up, it's time to forget the burgers. If you haven't had one yet then a) what's wrong with you and b) head for MEATmarket in Covent Garden where they are faster and in my experience a bit tastier.
After a bit of a false start with hotdogs, the guys have found their second talent with chicken. More specifically the 'Monkey Fingers'. Had I not been visiting with a friend that's obsessed with hot wings, I'd probably have missed them but he insisted we give them a shot. Deep-fried chicken strips in crispy batter and slathered in hot sauce, accompanied by a blue cheese dip. Wow.
The second impressive non burger dish was a french-dip roast beef sandwich with horseradish sauce. It was a lot lighter than expected but the scope to dip it into a big trough of gravy over and over again added a satisfying DIY element of filth.
Make it your mission to go beyond the burgers and you'll get the most of the place.
C. M.
the food is amazing, great beer selection and the cocktails are top too. Make sure you're hungry before you go, you'll find plenty on the menu you want to try!
V. T.
Food is nice, but definitely pricey. Place looks quite amazing as decor goes, but I think it would fundamentally fit a club better than a place you go and eat in
D. T.
This place has simply the best burger in London! It's bloody delicious and there are good beer and sides, everybody should eat there at least once in life!
J. C.
The deco is unique and the service was good. I had a high expectation for the food but the burgers and the wings turned out to be quite average compared to what I've had in London.

Great burgers and great cocktails. It's a perfect spot for a casual nibble. The monkey fingers and pickles are top shelf.

A burger restaurant in a former Christian mission, it's a must visit. The buffalo chicken burger plus monkey fingers are the ultimate combo. Greasy as hell, but wonderful..

Amazing food yet again. Twice I've been & twice I've been so impressed with the food. Definitely worth a visit if you're in town

Great atmosphere having been a former mission, great burgers and wings but not the best you'll find around the area. Reserve a table if you can, this place gets justifiably busy.

Still one of my favourite burger places in London!

Great food, friendly staff and interesting choice of interior design. Would definitely recommend this as a meal out. Photo booth was super cute to.

Former missionary house. Grab some friends and revel in the atmosphere. Great food, every single time. The stand out dish has to be the monkey fingers: chicken coated in a vinegary sauce. Be prepared to use the supplied kitchen towel. You'll need it!
Also strongly recommend the 3 pint jugs of Vedette Blonde beer.
Finally, you can use the SecretDJ app here. The rather limited playlist changes after 6pm.

That Buffalo Chicken Burger is something else, get it in you

Arrived quite late and was pleased they were open, only had on burger available and it was delicious! Will definitely be heading back there! Being in an old church was very surreal!

#burgerbinge - Meat Mission - a must-see mecca of burgers and sides.
Meat Mission is the little oasis of burgers and meat in the trendy Hoxton area of East London. Anyone familiar with the superb Meat Liquor round the back of Debenhams on Oxford Street should already be familiar with the sort of fare served there, given that this is another outlet from the same owners, however there are some nice differences at the Meat Mission that warrant a better look.
Whilst the name of the place is a reference to the origins of the location as a missionary house for the poor, thankfully small portions are nowhere to be seen. In fact, you could be forgiven for thinking it was for an eating challenge based on the portion sizes that encourage sharing and group eating.
While this outlet has several options to choose from, Meat Mission's signature burger, the Dead Hippie, is definitely the one to go for: a two-patty stack complete with their unique Dead Hippie burger sauce, plus gherkins and a trace amount of lettuce inside a soft bun. Like the name on the door says, it's the meat that does the talking here, not the extras, with the definitely meaty patties mixing well with the sauce. It's a knockout one-two punch that satisfies any appetite in style.
Not content to rest on their laurels, Meat Mission also includes some extra options and sides that other of its outlets do not, such as the splendid Monkey Fingers. Imagine, if you will, a chicken wing with crispy outside coated in a well balanced hot sauce. Then imagine that each one of these little chicken delights comes with zero bones. This leads for a very tasty alternative to chicken wings (though these are still excellent) and are perfect for no-nonsense nomming. These are joined by the excellent Currywurst; a huge cooked sausage chopped into perfect bite sized slices and complete with cocktail sticks on top of a generous dollup of fries. Again, a perfect side for sharing, the signature spicy currywurst tomato sauce is very authentic to the original German recipe and the flavour is a welcome diversion from the normal tomato or hot sauces there for dipping your fries, other sides or a burger into.
Meat Mission is calling. Bring friends.

Atmosphere was amazing, the staff were fantastic and I do not have the vocabulary to describe the food and do it justice. I shall just have to say it was phenomenal and I'd recommend this place to everyone!

This place has an incredible buffalo chicken sandwich. Everything is pretty expensive, but totally worth. The monkey fingers are also very good as a side.

Lots of delicious meat and lots of great drinks. What more can you want? Recommend the monkey fingers; they are incredible.
