Had a very nice meal at Mem and Laz. The chicken breast was moist and chilly sauce was more like a spicy relish but was v good. I chose to go for bread and butter pudding for dessert but it was disappointing. It was quite dry and bland even though it came with custard. Overall had a good meal. A service charge is added to the bill.

Had a really lovely evening here!!! This restaurant is absolutely beautiful and that includes the toilets!!!! I ordered the mixed meze starter and the mixed grill for main, and I was so content that I had no room for dessert!! The food was fresh, tasty and very we'll prepared and presented. A friend recommended me Mem&Laz for their veggie mezze, which was plentiful and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It consisted on 13 different things served with warm bread and was just enough of everything. Very satisfying and flavour full, especially the tabbouleh. I also had the baklava and it is one of the best I've ever had. Very good prices and service. 100% recommended.

Like this place as they do halal food . Enjoy eating the wings mash and salad for starters and lamb fillet and rice and salad for main and the banoffee for dessert 3 course meal is £14.95 which is really good but had to pay extra £17 something service charge for 3 x 2course meal and 1x3course meal.

Had the lunch menu starter main and dessert. 4 stars only because the daquari could have Been stronger (personal preference) and not enough bread for the amount of hummus.

Love love love this place. My partner and I come here all the time. They treat repeat customers ridiculously well and have spoiled us while being there so much. The vibe in the place is great and they cook meat incredibly well. You won't be disappointed with any dish you get here honestly but recommend anything with chicken or lamb. And the filo parcels are out of this world. Definitely support this place. It's also really easy to take someone to walk in because they have so much space even if it doesn't look it from the outside.

Food was amazing and staff were great. I expected the mixed grill to be bigger for the price, but it actually turned out to be the perfect size as I’m trying to lose weight for an upcoming holiday with friends. We’re doing a competition on this holiday, where the person with the greatest loss of body fat percentage wins a massage from the others. Really excited, as it’s Costa Rica and we’ve pushed the holiday back three times already due to the pandemic so seems crazy that we’re finally going. The restaurant itself was warm and cosy, and also homely. I would say that in winter, I can imagine that if you sit by the door, the draft might make it cold and you’d probably have to sit in coats. But you can’t blame the restaurant for bad weather right? Plus global warming? Don’t get me started. Lastly, I would say that the staff were the perfect balance of gravalicious . I also applaud the audacity to add compulsory service, I think that go-getter attitude should be rewarded. Thanks to all!

Not bad great atmosphere visited for a family birthday meal, place was heaving and very busy almost buzzing with a great vibe. Venue is small, intricate with a small staircase that leads down to a basement area where we dined it was nice, although after sometime felt very claustrophobic as no windows on lower level had to get outside into the open air. Staff were very friendly but we waited quite sometime for our starters and mains a little disappointed but staff tried their best to accommodate our large rowdy group. Overall good time. Parking isn't advisable in the vicinity your better off using public transport. Food was ok, they seemed to be collecting from another location nearby and bringing in to customers wasn't sure about that aspect of the dining experience!

Went here for the first time and it was a lovely experience. The restaurant was cosy and perfect for a couples date night. I had hummus with pitta bread for a starters and the lamb steak for main. The portion size of all plates I ordered were very generous. The food was good - but could definitely be better. The pina colada was delightful. I tried the cheese stuffed mushroom, it was garlicky and delicious, but felt a bit too greasy. I also ordered cheese stuffed pastry which was quite tasty. The spaghetti my friend ordered was ok. All in all, good food for a decent price but could do with slight improvements.

Its my parents wedding anniversary today-they asked if i wanted to tag along (i said yes). This was my first time coming here; the atmosphere was very nice & cosy. For my starter, i had the Filo Parcels (which was filled with cheese & spinach) with a small salad-it was so good. For my main, i had a flamed chicken breast (which was smothered in a mustard sauce) with some roasted root veg-though i asked for a small order of chips. All in all, a lovely cosy restaurant with fine dining and would def recommend.

Mezes are great but the meat is standard. One of few places that you can enjoy mezes and raki and also selling efes beers. Mem & Laz is one of the oldest Turkish restaurant in Islington and might be the most well-known location for having raki. They are also genuine importer of beylerbeyi raki in the UK. They made us happy by offering table whilst we walked in without having reservations. Turkish hospitality is the second to none in the world. I recommend you to visit Mem Laz to have a cozy and romantic dinner with your loved ones, and also have a group meetings.

Food is delicious and the place is nice and cosy. However they really need to cover the entrance. It was freezing cold as whenever the front door was opened, a cold wind run through the whole place. We had to sit in coats (as did other guests) so the experience was quite ruined. Table next to us decided to leave and I quite regret we didn't do the same. It was honestly like sitting outside.

An absolute hidden gem, to look at you would think it's a small cafe, but opens up at the back to a lovely open area with a huge sky light providing the most amazing natural light, The menu is fantastic, you will be hard pressed to not find anything to eat, there is a huge selection in every category, The staff are very friendly and welcoming, and the drinks prices are very reasonable. Ate inside and luckily there is space between tables. No plastic separators between tables though. All staff wearing face masks which gives confidence. Food was good but average - mixed grill is fine but not huge if you're hungry. The lamb chop in particular was great! Came here for our work Christmas party as a group of 20. We were sat downstairs in a semi private sort of area which was great. We ordered from the Christmas set menu which was nice as there was alot of variety. Food was good however, I found the service to be a let down. We were rushed quite a bit and staff would keep hovering around the table waiting till someone finshes eating and clearing their plates whilst other's are still eating. Not the type of service you expect when spending over £400 and having to pay service charge which they didn't deserve.

A reliable go to eatery in Angel. Food, service and atmosphere are all spot on. The menu is massive catering to both standard English fair and more middle eastern influences with the quality consistently consistently great. Open for lunch and dinner till late. There is plenty of seating upstairs and in adjacent space they brought out, featuring an underground dining hall complete with running water feature wall. There is a choice of ambiance to fit a casual work drink or easy night out with a better half - it does tend to be noisy so perhaps not the most romantic.

I orderd the Kleftico, Cooked leg of lamb with vegetables and rice Went here with a group of 6 for dinner on good Friday. A very old school small family style run restaurant. Loads of options on the menu but I ended ordering something that I had no idea about. Turned out to be a great choice. The lamb was so tender and fell off the bone with ease. It could have done with more seasoning and flavour. But at only £12 for this meal I was very impressed. There is pork in the menu and some dishes are cooked with wine. However, they can make without any wine as they saw we were Muslim. The chicken and lamb are halal only.

This place is amazing. There is a reason it is always packed full of customers. The menu is varied and flavourful without straying too far from its authentic Turkish roots. Do yourself a favour and get a bucket of the fresh chili sauce. I can never get enough.

The food is generally good but I feel as if the quality has deteriorated in the past month or so. We usually order the chicken tagliatelle and it is always delicious but on this occasion our food was occupied with a very strong and not so pleasant smell ( I think they've changed the cheese they use in this dish and it actually smells awful). When I recently went to Mem & Laz (after a gap of 2 or 3 years), I was quite surprised to see that what used to be a tiny place had expanded quite a bit by acquiring some adjacent outlets. What did not change was the cozy internal atmosphere and the great food! This restaurant is now huge and the decor is absolutely lovely. At the back, it almost resembles an Italian Palazzo, with balconies and wall water fountains. The tables in these 'balconies' are specially nice, and offer some private space. The service is good, but can be slightly slow at times. The food is delicious, and the best part is that it is quite moderately priced for the place. Because we had to wait for a bit for the bill, they offered us a complimentary amaretto, which proved to be icing on the cake. Really nice place, and I am now wondering why did I not visit it often in the last few years. But that's something that will definitely change now. :-)

This restaurant is strangely split over two separate buildings - one is significantly nicer than the other! We ate in the better one, it has this lovely area with a balcony and chandeliers. The service is a bit ad hoc, I'd say on the Friday night we went that there were like 20 waiters in there all stepping on each others toes. It's the kind of chaoticly excellent service where you get asked what drinks you'd like to order several times, even after you ordered with someone else. They need to split the place up into sections for each waiter I feel. I think this has changed hands, so while the chef could be the same (tip try the mussels with cream and white wine), the prices have gone up. The Mezze was good, but two pieces of bread was stingy, but charging £1.50 for an additional two pieces was day light robbery. The fish plate was tasty but very salty. The mixed grill was overcooked and the meat wasn't great. The toilets are disgraceful - luckily I did not see them until after I'd finished eating.

Having used this restaurant many times, I was pleased to take all my family there for a special birthday celebration .However tonight's experience was awful.we were kept waiting two hours before our food turned up,without apology. Some of the food wasn't cooked properly and needed to be returned. The food was nice, but the service was terrible. The food took quite a long time to come and at the end we where forced to pay 20% service charge when the menus said 10%. I was part of a large group so the extra service charge almost amounted to £100. What's worse is the manager decided to tell us about the service charge after half of the group had left and refused to let the rest of us leave until we paid the extra money. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I am pretty sure service charge is optional and it's illegal to force someone to pay and additional charge that doesn't exist. Disgusting Apart from that fiasco, at least the food was nice and a few of the staff were decent, however they have tried to squeeze far too many people into the building that it is almost impossible to maneuver through the small gaps between the tables. Although I did have lots of fun celebrating a friend's birthday, i must say the experience from Mem and Laz was very disapointing

One of my favourite restaurants in London! Depending on which part of the restairant you go to you get a different experience. In the original restaurant its a busy, close together almost of top of each other environment that brings you away to the tavernas of the med! The newer side has an open and more relaxing vibe with a wonderful waterful illusion down the wall. The menu is extensive and has pretty much anything that you can imagine. The staff are attentive and fun and add to the atmosphere. If you attend on your birthday expect a cake to be brought out, the lights to be dimmed, the music to play, all the staff to sing to you and help you climb onto the table for everyone to applaud you!

They were a bit over organised which actually made our group run late we had to leave by 9 they had another booking at 9 but desert came 20 mins to 9. A little over processed for a restaurant. Brought the ice-cream but forgot the spoons. Given directions to get to my group within the restaurant but I still got lost. Found them after 15mins of arriving. As a group you choose 2 course or 3 course I chose the main and desert others chose starters and main so I was sitting their watching everyone eat their starter then we all got our main at the same time. Despite all this i still had a great time staff where very helpful and friendly.

I wasn't too keen about coming here at first as I was told it was a small place blah blah blah, and probably would have preferred a pizza at pizza express.. but I have to say it was much better than I expected.. The food was really good, the service was excellent, the staff are very friendly and the place has this really cozy feel to it.. I would definitely come back here again.. Bonus, they have this set menu during the hours of 11-6 which is very reasonably priced for a 2 or 3 course meal..
