Reviews of Morty & Bob's
R. E.
My partner and I came in for an impromptu dinner tonight. The food was really lovely and the service was outstanding. Salvatore made the evening! He was courteous and professional; recommending the pear baked cheesecake after our meal which was scrumptious. Thank you! We thoroughly enjoyed our evening.

I'd seen Morty and Bobs recommended on Instagram and we weren't disappointed. Nice atmosphere and friendly staff. I had the Korean chicken bun with fries and it was bloody yummy! Would definitely recommend and visit again to try the cheese toasties!
J. H.
Had a great 'special' grilled cheese and loved it - wagyu pastrami & smoked provolone - sooo delish! These are big sandos easily enough for 2 to share. The fries were good, but we really liked the crisps w/ garlic better. It's a cool spot as well, they have an excellent picante margarita and good wine list too. Go!
L. W.
I tried the Roast Mushroom and Truffle Grilled Cheese sandwich with the Parmesan and truffle hand cut fries and got them to takeaway. Both had great flavours and were good portion sizes. Really friendly staff, hope to visit again soon and sit at the outdoor seating area to try the brunch menu!
P. K.
Great little place in the trending area of Coal Drop's yard (KX).
Went for an easy lunch with the team and the options available were great. Ended up picking the mushroom and truffle toast with Truffle enriched fried and an energy natural juice.
Got to say it was splendid and just the right amount.
A lovely place to drop by and enjoy a nice afternoon/eve.

I was there on Saturday night - great atmosphere & service. Helpful staff were COVID-19 conscious, and made our group of 4 feel really comfortable. Great cocktails, Anto suggested the cocktail of the week, best choice! Was served tasty food, would recommend the Creamed Kale, Roasted Potatoes & Beet root starter, everything was presented beautifully! Even though it was raining had a fun night will definitely be going again to sit inside :)
S. D.
I've had a lot of cocktails in the last week and this place stands out. Top notch service to accompany top notch cocktails
EDIT: came back and was told "we're more of a lunch place". I disagree.
D.
Well seasoned and crispy toasted cheese and spring onion sandwich, could do with a bit more flavour and a mixture of cheese.
C. K.
We had lunch at Morty & Bob's and found the food decent but probably not something we would come back for given the multiple options in coal drops yard. Competition is fierce!
My grilled cheese was nice but didn't really leave a lasting impression. The kale salad was a bit too heavy on the kale and could have been a bit more balanced with more ingredients. The truffle fries were great as was the rosti that accompanied the steak. The steak itself was average.
I think this place is a perfectly nice spot to grab a quick bite but with so many other restaurants in the vicinity if you want to consider your options.
J. C.
Nice surroundings, pleasant staff and good grub. I opted for the Onglet, hash brown and egg. Initially disappointed at size (I love my food) , the taste more than made up for it. My partner had the Mushrooms on Sourdough, which WAS plentiful and delicious.
N.B. the Bloody Mary was incredibly strong which is either a very good or bad thing, dependent on the night before I presume!!
C. P.
Great food and quick service! There was a long queue when we arrived so keep that in mind.
N. G.
I absolutely loved Morty and Bob's! The staff were really nice and friendly. The food was really yummy. We shared the roast mushroom and truffle grilled cheese sandwich. My main was the hot smoked mackerel.
I still talk about it with my friend that I went with back in March pre lockdown. Would definitely recommend this place and will definitely be returning.
r.
This place is a place for drinks ONLY Food was an afterthought. With few menu options you would think time to prepare could be faster.
A. Z.
Limited menu but the burger and bavette steak were delicious! Good quality and well priced. Friendly staff. Will go back!
B. A. N.
The best burgers I’ve had in London so far - and I had a lot- juicy but consistent, I think the cheese added extra flavor, the biroche bun is a win. I ordered it medium and I would definitely go back and order it again.
s. w.
We were seated quickly by pleasant staff. The menu isn't big but in not complaining: what they have is delicious. We could see them preparing our meals, which came quick and hot. The Korean BBQ sauce on my chicken bun was killer!
This is a lovely hidden gem.
K. K.
Absolutely amazing staff and customer care. I am someone with a severe nut allergy and they really did their best to make sure I was catered for and looked after well.
The manager in particular was organised, well informed, patient kind and most importantly understanding. I would have loved to have known his name but he had an accent, medium height with a muscular build. He was very attentive and definitely deserves all the accolades he gets. I hope this message gets back to him and he is rewarded appropriately!
I am grateful for my dining experience 👏🏾👏🏾🥰
T. P.
I go there from the local hospital with a large group and they never complain about the large order when there busy. Coffee and teas are great. Love there simple mint tea , so good. Staff are always very helpful and friendly to us. They also offer a NHS discount which they don't have to but is very much appreciated 👍🏻
J. Y.
Overpriced for what it is - basic foods like burgers and roast chicken. The waitress who served us was a bit miserable to be honest. All the other staff seemed happy enough though, so maybe we were just unlucky. The quality of the food was on a par with Wetherspoons, but at twice the price. I'd say they need to make the menu better value, e.g. burgers don't come with fries, which wouldn't be an issue if a burger didn't cost over a tenner!
B. B.
Whilst the place is quite nice (factory style) and the service is efficient, the menu options are quite limited and the food is nothing special.
The grilled cheese sandwich, which looked amazing in the advertisment outside and was the reason to choose Morty & Bob's, was a big disappointment. The cheese is quite tasteless and the sandwich is very oily.
The salad was ok, just nothing special.
We had this place on our "watchlist" for a while, and unfortunately our experience wasn't the best.
c. h.
I was invited to try "the best cheese sandwich in London" and was not disappointed, accompanied by a lovely freshly squeezed juice smoothie,
Absolutely delicious,and great service
Oh and it's the old Bagley's nightclub I used to visit many moons ago 😉
R. M.
Sometimes I go for breakfast, sometimes just for a coffee, sometimes for beers and truffle chips and sometimes cocktails, but I always love it at Morty & Bob's. The atmosphere is very homey and welcoming and the staff couldn't be friendlier.
N. P.
We came here for drinks on a Friday evening. The espresso Martini was lovely. We then had G&Ts which were nice too - I liked the fact that they served gins from different parts of London. Gave 4 stars because there's only 1 toilet for all customers. This got busy towards the end of the night.
B. P.
I liked this place a lot. The desserts were delicious and the service incredible.
S. W.
Great location and very much enjoyed the grilled cheese and onion toastie. Coffee was good but very small. Great service though and enjoyed our visit. Menu includes some great vegetarian options and they have cocktails, mocktails, a good range of fruit juices and beers.
L. B.
I wish we lived nearer, my sister and I came in a couple of weeks ago and had the grilled double cheese sandwich it was absolutely gorgeous.
G. W.
The team here are always the best! The food is phenomenal - great price and generous portion sizes. Avoid the long ques at Dishoom, this is the best place for Brunch in Kings Cross
C. S.
We visited here during lockdown for a takeaway cheese toastie. The toastie was delicious however the bacon was slightly chewy. The coffee is great and very friendly service.
G. V.
A chilled Friday evening with good food and superb cocktails.
The mushroom and truffle cheese toasty was the right choice. Added the truffle fries and the Campari Cocktail to seal the deal.
I was recommended another cocktail which I was initially hesitant about, but ended up ordering a second one. ( monkey shoulder)
Definitely worth a visit!
K. C.
I love Kingcross area and this restaurant, strongly recommend.
R. S.
Food was lovely, seating was a bit too cramped for my liking but the staff were covid safe.
A. K.
Nice indoor and outdoor space and the food was very good. Very much enjoyed the avo toast (the poached egg on top was beautifully cooked with a very bright orange yolk) and the mushrooms on toast. Also tried the grove 3 juice which was amazing. Flat whites all very good. Will definitely visit again
R. N.
Great place for a chilled beer and a warm toastie. After much research, I stumbled upon Morty and Bob's as a must-visit and it did not disappoint. Great and quick service and good food, what more can one want.
R. G.
Best cheese sandwich ever
N. A.
Love it. Having 1 toilet can be an issue when busy.
Flour Less brownie and the parmesan & truffle fries were delightful
D. A.
Great space with stellar food! Both the grilled cheese sandwiches are delicious, the parmesan fries are awesome and the honey and soya wings are perfect! Good value for money, clean and took all the precautions for covid.
T. B.
We took some sandwiches and a salad to take away and sat in the sun on one of the many tables that are free to use in Coal drops yard. I love their grilled cheese sandwiches, but found the salad more on the pricy side.
V. C.
Lovely place in Kings Kross area, good coffee, fast service, interesting food to try out not better much classical dishes :)
J. C.
First time visit, Nice decor, polite staff, food nice but waited a long time for it and chips only luke warm, despite not being that busy.
Overall would come back again
O. S.
Visited Morty and Bobs at Coal Drops Yard on a wet Saturday evening.
They have Covid guidelines in place and the Italian staff were all very helpful, friendly and attentive.
The evening menu is quite small but that helps in the decision making process.
My party ordered the Lentil Chickpeas and Rosemary Soup, The Burrata and The Creamed Kale. The Kale was very good as was the Lentil Soup. We also enjoyed The Cheese Burger and the Sirloin Steak both with fries.
The food was somewhat delayed in arriving however it was hot and well presented.
We also enjoyed the Brownies and Vanilla Ice cream for dessert.
On what was a rather wet, cold and miserable night Lorenzo and his colleagues all did a great job in keeping us happy even moving us to another table with a heater.
Thank you to the young lady from South East Italy who was very helpful. All the waiting staff deserve a mention.
We shall certainly be looking to return for a visit to the indoor part of the establishment.
N. W.
This was the best burger I have ever had. I have no idea what they do to them but bam. Chips were pretty epic also! Staff super friendly and accommodating. Equally amazing gin and tonic with fresh lemon. Dang. Can’t fault it.
A. L.
Great mushroom and truffle grilled cheese, parmesan truffles fries good too w aioli though some parts could have been crispier. Service good and nice addition to CDY.
E. R.
First time I have eaten here, ordered the chicken burger which came with chips. Surprised to find the skin had been left on the chicken and having to remove it between bites. Also chicken too small for the bun so ended up partly eating just bread and salad, disappointing.
G. A. (.
If there is more than 5 stars I would rate 10 ..!! The bbbbbbeeeesssssttttttt grilled cheese sandwich I’ve ever had ..!!! 😭💔
F. C.
I like this place. The location is nice and very close to St Pancras station and I go there also only for a drink and something to nibble while waiting for trains or for a good lunch. Food is good with many Italian ingredients or options like burrata or affogato al caffè ice-cream.
E. L. R.
Lovely staff with a really hip, chill vibe. Loved their outfits and attentive attitude- it seemed like they genuinely enjoy working there and as someone who has worked in pretty bad hospitality jobs it's really refreshing to see.
Ordered our food and it came within 10 minutes even though the place was pretty busy! We had the wild mushrooms on sourdough toast and truffle & parmasan fries and everything was AMAZING! Brilliant portion sizes- no scrimping on the mushrooms or the fries!
Only downside I would say would be the latte size was a little on the small side but honestly, the food was so delicious I'm eager to go back and try something else on the menu.
A. A.
Very nice setting with outdoor seating. We tried grilled cheese sandwich with onions and mushrooms/truffle and they were great!
C. W.
Food, staff and service all exceptional on a busy Saturday in the sun. We bought takeaway and sat at nearby tables in Coal Drops Yard. The burgers were absolutely delicious and only took a 5-10 minutes.
c. h.
Excellent grilled cheese and generous fries
J. R.
Good lunch shared a toasties and some chips. Staff are very helpful
G. S. C.
The most delicious grilled cheese sandwich ever! I could have one every day!
c.
Nice place although service was rather slow... waited almost 10mins to be seated Requested a lemon and poppy cake but was served a banana cake instead without consultation as the lemon and poppy was finished . Didn't realise till I bit into it. Could have been disastrous if I had allergies. Hence the three stars. They did apologise though once I queried and did not charge so customer service saved the day.
S. L.
Great staff, lovely food delivered quickly. I had a pasta and a drink back before Tier 4 was even a thing. Nice outdoor and indoor seating. WiFi available. a pleasure to eat there and meet friends. Thanks!
A. B. (.
Cheese mushrooms truffle oil toastie £7.5
a. m.
Fully recommended. Really tasty food for a good price. We also got a great service from Alessia. She took care about us very well and friendly.
k.
very nice
C. B.
Was great food and deserves 5 stars- service was Great to ... Only 4 stars as the table next to me had a guest that got up every 5 minutes and managed to walk into me each time - burger and snacks were incredible!
U. E.
Lovely hidden bar under Kingscross. Didn't even know this part of Coal Yard Drop was there! Nice heating. Friendly staff. Definitely go there again. Really easy to book and reserve even with Covid restrictions
J. L.
Loved my egg and avocado sandwich, great brunch. Great coffee, attentive stuff.
k.
Lovely place! Highly recommended. Nice food, chips are to delicious. Staff are very friendly and attentive. Will be back
B. H.
A night me and my friends will never forget! Morty and Bob's hosted my friend's birthday-do, and were hugely accommodating with all that comes with a birthday event (helping to organise the cake, drinks and all the rest!). The staff were some of the friendliest I have ever known, and the night went perfectly. Thank you Morty and Bob's for a night to remember! We will most certainly be back soon!
J. D.
This place can be compared to heaven if you like truffle and cheese. Parmesan truffle fries and truffle and mushrooms grilled cheese sandwich are a MUST. I went there on Sunday and the girl who was hosting was so sweet !! 5 stars well deserved.
S. B.
Not many places open sadly but found this place and wow! It was heaven. Lovely cocktails and a fantastic limited menu with terrific tasting food. Great staff who take hygiene seriously which is reassuring. I can't wait to return.
A. G.
This place is the best, the grilled cheese sandwich is outstanding and they always add in a few extra chillis for me when asked nicely! Great vibe and really sweet staff that seem to have a really nice repour between them. Highly recommend for a chilled evening once we're out of Lockdown 2!
J. H.
Morty & Bob’s is a great, albeit boujee venue. My curling team and I went one Saturday and got stuck into the cocktails. Unfortunately, we were down a team member but I’d venue helped us to get over that. Particularly as basically every staff member came over to our table to ask if we were okay.
I personally found it a little bit too hot so I had to step out at times for a little cool down, so I'd suggest perhaps turning the heating down. I'm sure that will help with the overheads too.
We were all quite impressed with plant placement - particularly the little ledge ones. A great spot to spend a few hours.
J. B.
Great service and the chicken burger with Korean bbq sauce is fantastic.
K. J.
The staff were very friendly, but the menu was limited. When our food arrived it was cold (unpleasant when runny fried eggs are involved). The chips were hot, but were also greasy.
It's a bit odd to ask a waitress what the pastries are and be told that she isn't sure and they might not be there anyway by the time she gets to the counter.
Parents need to be aware there's no baby change here, though there are high chairs. There's also no children's menu and they don't do small portions.
T. W.
Great location; easy access and yet not noisy; attentive service, pleasant staff
E. N.
Average food, patchy service, decent coffee. Firmly average.
J. O.
I stumbled across this place whilst looking for somewhere to have a drink with a friend. The interior was cool, modern and welcoming. The food however was quite disappointing and the prices pretty ridiculous. I had a kale salad with butternut squash and some sort of grains. I cannot tell you what they were as the plate was predominantly just raw kale with about 8 small cubes of the roasted squash dotted around it. Amazing food- if you are a rabbit but also not for the price i was charged for it . I do not understand how they could justify charging 12.5% tip if I ordered and paid by the till. It was a bit steep really. I always add a tip to my bill after a nice meal out but this is a cafe and the tip wasn't even optional and I have an issue with that. I have since checked their website to look at the menu and there is small print saying that the charge is added to all tables. My friend had a toasted sandwich which was tasty enough but also over-priced. I frequently eat around this area and I think Morty and Bob's food cannot justify their prices. It is just simply not good enough.I am quite surprised by so many positive reviews. It is not like it is a one-star sort of place but at the same time, nothing to shout about either. And the staff were apathetic (which maybe some people mistake for "cool"). It's a shame as this place is really close to my work but I am not sure if I will visit again. Might give it another go and order something different next time.
J. B.
only had a few dishes but the quality and vibe were great
C. O. M.
EXTREMELY GOOD SERVICE from all the staff especially the girl with loads of rings and the Spanish girl too! I came on my own and they made me feel super welcome! Never gave me the feeling I had to rush even though the bar was busy.
And the food is amazing! Like ong delicious! Try the mushroom one!
S. E.
This has become one of my favourite working from home but not at home locations. The grilled cheese will change your life and Amtomella, the assistant manager, makes magical coffee.
Great music to work to as well, sitting here right now rocking out to the Chilis.
S. M.
Nice place, Cozy & tiny, booking absolutely required
R. V.
Delicious coffee and amazing food! Strongly recommended.
A. B.
This is a trendy yet cosy restaurant. The menu for food is a little on the small side but the quality of what is produced is very good. The menu will be fine for meat eaters and vegetarians but little to no vegan offering. The staff are pleasant and helpful and overall our visit was very enjoyable
B. B.
I've been a few times now, great little spot for bringing friends or clients or hanging out to work. Staff are always on top form, very friendly and helpful. Really pleased to see English wines on the list. I often stay far too long with their delicious cocktails and don't get me started on the grilled cheese... 😋
f.
Westfield location!
Came in for the steak sandwich yesterday in Westfield, and I've realized the menu has changed but I gave it a go. The girl with glasses was really nice, explained all the new dishes very clearly and at the end I ended with more than just the steak, although I was happy! The Mac&cheese balls OMG, incredible! My girlfriend loved 'em as well! If not the friendly and helpful staff, I wouldn't have gone as far with my order as I did. Good customer service definitely changes the whole outcome.
And the new menu is great! Definitely will come back for more and bring some friends!
Thank you Morty and Bob's!!!
J. U.
Lovely place for brunch, great music and the food is fab too!
S. H.
Love this spot to study/work, have tea and chat with a friend, or go our for drinks! I love how there are different seating types throughout the whole restaurant and you can chose what kind of view you want (a cute alleyway facing a home decorating store, or a sweeping view of the mall). Tastewise it doesn't disappoint from the toast or brownie pictured below, to their daily cocktails.
E. G.
Lorenzo our waiter was amazing so kind and hospitable! Nice drinks and very friendly service
T. P.
Best grilled cheese sandwich in London! We had two - the roast mushrooms & truffle was incredible. Great venue and very good cocktails - I particularly liked the rum old fashioned
N. I.
Good coffee, friendly staff, nice to kids. Ginger and lemon tea was basically just some hot water though 😅
e. k.
good sandwiches. grilled cheese was delish.
J. S.
Loved my visit to Morty and Bobs - but it was Fran the manager, who was amazing. From the moment we walked in, she gave all of us - personalised recommendations, which all hit the mark. It totally made our lunch - one to remember.
Can’t wait to be back!

Enjoyed the food and good value drinks, however staff were very keen to make us leave which was a bit off putting!
B. B.
Great food

First time here. OMG soooo good. Take the best grilled cheese sandwich, add parmesan and truffle fries. So delicious... Staff were great. Love the atmosphere too. Cheers all.
M. M.
Great brunch place in Coal Drops Yard with a nice industrial vibe throughout. The avocado toast was one of the best I've had - the radishes and crispy kale were a nice touch.
I.
Waiter did not serve us straight away. Bar tender totally ignored us for 2 mins. It was embarrassing.
L. S.
The best cheese toastie in London but the staff are not friendly, I’ve been there three times but never had a good service in any of them, I prefer when they used to be in Hackney, staff was much better and nicer.
a. b.
The brioche bun was softer than a pillow
A. E.
Amazing service! Thanks to Alessia for great suggestions about food and drink! See you soon guys!
D. B.
Had the grilled cheese before in Hackney which was great but loved my late night steak and eggs with the best hash brown I’ve ever had. Music was cool too. I’ll be back.
D. C.
A new all-day cafe & bar on the ground floor at Coal Drops Yard. Lots of brunch and lunch options, including great eggs, cheese, and sour dough (their toasted sandwiches are legendary!), plus beers (inc the very local Two Tribes Brewery), plus wines, cocktails, and coffee from Allpress.
A very nice place to eat, drink, or meet friends.
J. F.
Good coffee and fine vista. Slightly cool sourdough, avocado, kale and poached egg combo with bacon. The smashed avocado/chilli was fresh from the chiller, and barely had time to be introduced to the other components. Signature cheese toastie with onions and nduja very good by comparison.
E. T.
The staff were wonderful, lovely interior and very tasty food! The parmesan truffle fries are a must! It's a pretty decent portion too, be warned!
n. s.
I like the place and the grilled cheese sandwich with mushrooms and truffle is so tasty..
J. M.
Superb coffee. Can't count how much I've wasted on horrible coffee that I've thrown away. I like a smooth coffee with creamy milk and that was exactly what I got. Definitely going back.
N. H.
Lovely truffle fries and kale salad.amazing

Loved this place really lovely place to have a lunch not a lot of dishes on menu but what is is great tasting. Well worth a visit.

F. N.
Loved having brunch there!
g. c.
Didn't take notice of my requests and expected us to sit outside in torrential rain
d. p.
So someone who isn't a city worker and doesn't earn loads of money I'd herd about this place and wanted to try the sandwiches, they are exspensive but the food was fantastic same as atmosphere the interior is nice, fresh and cosy...it's worth the money my gripe is the waiting stuff could be a little more interested when serving there customers
K. I.
Really nice and cosy place. Nice and tasty drinks! No reception but they have wifi. In the beginning the WiFi wasn't working and they fixed it after we raised the issue.
N. K.
Currently the best breakfast I've had round here. Amazing quality ingredients - fresh & lovely staff. Will return

A bit of a wait on Sunday morning but once we got a table the food and drinks were amazing... I can definitely recommend!

Tiny but great menu. Chicken burger was very tasty and some of the best fries in town.
d. w.
Omg amazing staff great attitudes . Reasonably priced. Great bloody Mary's along with great company. Thank you guys.
T. G.
Good toasties but pretty slow service. They seem to enjoy putting you on the end of tables incase a group/couple arrive and they have no space.
G. J.
Nice restaurant and a good cheese toastie, quite pricey but worth the taste for truffle on chips.
T. B. H.
Loved it. Great atmosphere, yummy cheese toastie and they are pet friendly which is always a bonus.
M. J.
Lovely staff, genuinely friendly. Great coffee and tea. Reasonable prices too.

I hate to say this but there was too much cheese in the toastie. Dial the cheese levels back & extend the cheese toastie variety I say.
