Found this place by accident when walking around late night starving. As a noodle sensitive person, of course I ordered a noodle dish. I really like Tom Yum, so I had this Mixed Seafood Tom Yum Noodle Soup. And I also always wanted to eat hot and sour soup as well, so we had this too.
The noodle soup was very tasty. The portion was generous but very easy to eat. It didn’t make me feel stuffy.
The seafood in the noodles were also very generous. I really liked those king prawns and the scallops! The downside was the Tom Yum soup itself. It was a bit too watery. Not very thick and not very strong taste at all.
About the hot and sour soup, it was very thick and delicious. My partner and I really liked it.
Although there were signs that they accept cards, but in fact they didn’t. They only accept cash was also another downside from this place. Well, but at least the staff told us about this when we’re entering the door, so it’s ok. But of course, would be much better if they really accept card payments as it’s shown on the door and on the wall.
The service was amazing. It seems like a family-run business. The girl who served us was very very friendly and seems very caring to the customers as well.
Overall, I like the place and definitely will come back. 😊

We booked a table of twenty for my friends to experience authentic Cantonese style dishes for their first Chinese New Year celebrations and they did not disappoint. We had at least thirteen different dishes and the quality didn't falter throughout. I definitely recommend taking their advice placing a preorder for the seafood courses (if you wanted to try something specific like lobster or crab) and they’ll buy it in fresh from the market. I have to mention that our vegan friends were also very well catered for too.
Thanks New Tastes for a memorable celebration!

Best authentic cantonese food around. Family owned and run. Great options for vegans and meat eaters alike. Huge menu. Best homemade spring rolls, imperial chicken (texture like butter!) and fish head soup.

Really good traditional Chinese restaurant, run by a local family for a number of years. Very good service, nice and attentive. Food is very good, consistent quality and great value for money. Doesn't look like a lot from the outside but it's definitely a local gem that I'll be coming back whenever I miss some good home cooking.

Great authentic Chinese food, best in the area. Definitely recommend

Extremely lovely and welcoming staff. It is a family run business, where they treat their customers very well and you can see that the regulars have sweet friendships with the staff.
They do excellent seafood here. Would recommend the oysters with ginger and garlic, and have some Chinese tea alongside this.
They only accept cash, so make sure to bring some, or there are some cash withdrawal ATMs nearby.

This place is excellent. "The food is just like home" said my wife who is chinese. We always come back. Have the imperial chicken, the braised pork belly and gailan. You will come out of there with butterflies. The staff is so friendly, it is a family owned authentic experience. Highly recommended.

This is my new favourite local restaurant! Don't be fooled by the humble exterior this place is a real gem. Delicious, authentic Cantonese food. The two sisters jade and Jenny are so welcoming and friendly. The rice with pork, salted fish and aubergine is incredible and the prawns with golden egg are addictive.

Food is really good. Big portions and great flavour. The menu is of a good proportion and the detail of each plate is well written. I found that if you drill in enough into the menu you will find traditional dishes that are well prepared and will bring you a feel of home.
Ask for the day veg as a side. It's wonderful.
The only downside is that only after you start into your meal the staff will, more often than not, come to your table and inform you that the card payment system is down and they require cash. Wether you are prepared or not for it.
3 stars due to this factor. Would be better score for the food alone.

I often take my friends to this place with my highest recommendations. I go to this restaurant often. This recommendation is always successful. The meals are great and the team is very friendly and cooperative. Whenever we eat in this place we have a cheerful time. I warmly recommend this restaurant.

Very friendly family runned restaurant. The staff are amazing and never let your glass go empty.
The food was top quality and definitely authenic Vietnamese and chines cuisine. Will be back for more! Try the pork belly, best in London!

Affordable, generous portion, tasty, authentic Chinese food and friendly/speedy service. So glad we have this little spot in Hackney! Lots of choice on the menu. Don't be put off by the lack of interior decoration. The food is too good to miss out! We really need more of those restaurants in London Fields, an area that has become quite expensive.

Visited for the first time today, Do not be mislead by the humble exterior. Inside the restaurant is clean and very welcoming. the wonton soup one of the best my wife and I have eaten (it is our touchstone for Chinese culinary excellence) the main course very good and the tea very pleasant indeed. We will visit again.

A great place to eat with family and friends or just yourself. Food is really good especially the Salt and Pepper Chicken and customer service is just AMAZING super sweet and checking if the customers are happy. Not expensive at all and they give you a fortune cookie🙂

My dad is a Cantonese chef and I really missed the food back at home, been to a few Chinese restaurants in London being disappointed and this place definately hits the spot. Was like eating my dads cooking again, was so delighted this will be my new regular! I had the imperial chicken, pork belly with stewed veggies - amazing. Thankyou for reminding me of a quality home cooked meal

New Tastes is a nice local place with plenty of hearty menu options at a reasonable price. The atmosphere won't blow you away but is in line with what you may expect. Good place for a pre-movie or theatre meal, as service is quick.

Some of the best hospitality I have experienced since being in London for the last 18 months. The food is awesome and it's excellent value for money.
It's cash only but who cares :D

You cannot get authentic Cantonese cuisine anywhere, but here. Even a fellow customer stated that they could not find the above in Hong Kong where they have moved to.
I have tried a few dishes and my favourite has to be the stuffed fried tofu (pei pah tofu) as a person that does not eat tofu, I would pick this again out of the other options of tofu you can order.

Little known restaurant in the Hackney area amongst all the others. Although the decor could perhaps do with a touch of paint here and there.
The food however is fantastic, nice selection, reasonable prices and amazingly delicious. The staff are friendly and helpful so definitely worth a visit for great food and service.

One of the best cheap and affordable Chinese restaurant that I have had since being in London. Very similar taste to the chinese take away back in Sydney.
