Reviews of Original Lahore Restaurant & Takeaway
V. D.
I came here with my girlfriend for an early Valentine's Day dinner. We really enjoyed the food we ordered and we're very happy with the service we received. We ordered the Chilli Paneer, Vegetable Biryani, Karahi Butter Chicken, Pilau Rice and the Tarka Daal. Although all the dishes were delicious the standout dish for both of us was the Chilli Paneer.
Z. N.
Very good experience at the Original Lahore.
The service was superb; dishes arrived promptly and were made to a decent standard. Overall very impressed and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. I’d say a pretty viable option if you are in the North West London area and don’t fancy the drive down to Wembley or Southall. Well done folks!
I. K.
Just right for proper Lahore cuisine - hard to fault their food. The mixed grill was executed to perfection - but the lamb chops and chicken wings were just too moorish...we sampled, nehari, karahi gosht, karahi bhindi chicken, chicken biryani and the Sunday meat pilau. Far too much delicious food. Could not finish so brought some home for later. Well Done Ijaz bhai - you got the right formula!!
A. M.
Can’t go wrong with this place. Consistently makes some of the best food in the area. If I could recommend one dish as a must-try, it would be the lamb chops. Haven’t found anywhere in the country that can match the depth of flavour and tenderness as these.
The service can be a bit wobbly as they train new staff (I.e. bringing out one dish at a time when ordering for a table of 5 people) but I think it could also be due to the kitchen preparing orders for takeaway and delivery and not managing their order flow properly.
J. B.
I’m giving three stars because the food was so chilli that it tore me a new hole. I asked for mild. They said it will be. It wasn’t. And they also missed a dish off my order. However staff were very polite and worth y of a mention. I will still be back no doubt.
P. W.
Clean looking and expensive looking natural tiles on the wall. Staff friendly enough, but struggled a bit with where to place food items on the table. Food came in good time. Food ok, but a couple of things just not quite to my taste, like the mint yoghurt sauce for the poppadoms. The restaurant layout seems a little strange with the till next to the door. It felt like a couple of staff members were stood over us for most of the meal. It would be better to move the till to the back of the restaurant, like most other places. From the outside, it doesn't appear to be an Indian restaurant; looks more like they serve kebabs, judging by the takeaway part, next door. I've never really noticed it being busy here.
E. S.
I’ve only ordered deliveries due to the pandemic and distance. This is a great place with lots of delicious dishes to choose from. I love their jeera chicken, biriyanis, tikkas and chilli rotis! I hope to visit the restaurant myself soon, finally!
E. A.
Delicious and very authentic curry. Decent value for money and staff were friendly. Very hygienic and clean furniture
A. M.
I really like this restaurant. The manager, who everyone calls him uncle, is a nice gentleman. He always takes care of the customers. I am extremely interested and recommend this restaurant specially because you can take your drink in and have it with your meal. They have a very delicious dessert, called Sali Malli, don't forget to order it.
The only issue is because of the original and organic spices which they use in their recipes, despite the grill is not in the same room as customer floor, still after few minutes all your clothes will get smells of spices so you have to wash them straight away.
If they could manage to fit. Some extraction fan to circulate the air with the out side fresh air could be more comfortable.

When hunger strikes, this is a great place to eat. Very good service, and a lovely atmosphere.
Also, you can bring your own alcohol, so you can have a lovely meal and enjoy your own drink, at your own pace. 😋😋
The food is amazing here, and as you can bring your own alcohol. You can have a great night out at a good price.
Thank you and I will be back soon!!! 😊

The starter was not worth the try at all. I ordered veg samosa it was not taste all i could taste was curry masala and it was horrible. I also wanted chips for my baby the lady said they don't do chips but they have something else called mongo or moglo not sure the exact name it's like poteto she said. It was dry as hell! Nothing like poteto It was very small porstion waste of money do not try that! The dal dadka and meat vurry was nice.

Been eating here and getting takeaways for over 15 years. Some of the best Indian food in London. The surroundings are more like a posh cafe and its also BYO. Everything cooked fresh. No shortcuts. Good quality chicken. Proper onion bhajis and breads. Chicken Methi was outstanding. Sit watching the TV or the kosher bakery over the road. Another Hendon social hub. About £20 per head.
R. A.
It's ok. As I've had plenty of home cooked Pakistani food so it is difficult to get too excited about this kind of affair. Chops sliced way to thin and covered with too much masala (spices) this just masks any taste of the meat you'd have. The lamb bunna.and chicken jalfrezi were ok, not the best I've ever had. The rice pudding (kheer) was nice, it was the best thing I ate. All in all you won't be disappointed however don't expect to be totally wowed either.
A. F.
Been coming here since 2003, yes it's that good, my favourites are the chilli paneer, lamb chops and lamb biryani
T. P.
Good authentic Pakistani food. We often go for family celebrations and bring a bottle of wine. We generally order shish kebabs, spicy lamb chops, karahi bhuna gosht, and a few others. We always ask for naans to be brought as and when we need them so they are always fresh and hot. The mango lassi is a great crowd pleaser and don't miss out on the kheer for pudding.
R. T.
Overpriced compared to its competitors. Nothing special but simply adequate. Wouldn't go back in a hurry.
J. H.
Really nice food, I came here to meet up with some old work mates and was surprised at the quality. Very tasty, fragrant and freshly prepared. I would definitely recommend it and will come again.

I requested a refund after ordering from here as I wasn't that impressed with the food (which was explained perfectly by the owner). Not only was I granted a refund, the customer service from the owner was incredible. He was determined to make sure I left happy and satisfied.
Lovely person to talk to and it was clear he was genuinely concerned with my experience. 5* for customer service alone.

Excellent food very tasty good menu service was a bit chaotic but was very busy so excused will go again :)
K. M.
Bought 15 kebabs to take away for my parents. They loved them, tasty, fresh and not too hot 👍🏾

Excellent Lahoree food the best in north london
L. L.
Good food and friendly service. Reasonable prices too.
G. S.
Great food will definitely visit again

Best curry house in town! Best grills and delicious Nihari! A must try!
M. S.
Thanks chief’s, really enjoy garam garam chicken tikka roll ,
D.
BYOB. It’s very low price but good taste.
S. M.
Lamb chops to die for - so soft and tender. The best in North London by far.
H. K.
Sadly a shadow of its former self- the original in Umbertson Street in the east end was legendary 20/30 years ago; but got bloated (especially prices) and became too showy. It really shouldn’t cost this much
r. b.
Best indian grills anywhere, just love Thier chicken tikka and seekh kebabs
R. T.
The food was OK, but nothing special. Shame they don't do an actual mixed grill, instead you have to buy the separate items from the menu. Having said that, I will try it again as I've only tried a couple of dishes so cannot give a full verdict.

Nov’18 My wife and I met the owner of this restaurant in response a staff issue that has now been resolved. The owner was very apologetic and gracious. We are pleased to report that the food was back to its normal high standard. The owner listened to our complaint and responded by speaking to his staff to avoid this type of incident being repeated and offered a meal on the house as compensation. This is a great restaurant and the food is always cooked fresh each day. The spiced chops are to die for! My wife and I have been going to Lahore in Brent Street for 17 years and we please to have resolved this one-off incident. Gladly this is now all behind us and we are again friendly with the staff and enjoy the food immensely.
M. C.
Randomly came across this place and food looked good so decided to try it, and so glad I did! Everything tasted fresh, from the starter to the butter chicken and biryani, and everything was nice and spicy. Service was quick and our waiter was so attentive! Great value for money as well, definitely recommend this place.
S. N.
This is my local go to. Service and quality of food always top! Highly recommend the grills and the Lamb Bhuna (Spicy). Food normally served quite quickly which is a plus.
M. A.
Super slow service, average taste, no details or description of ingredients of dishes on the menu. No indication of how hot/spicy the dishes are or if possible to order mild version of the dishes on the menu. Half the stuff was not even available. Prices were neither high now low, just about average just like the restaurant itself.
N. H.
Excellent takeaway kebabs and chicken tikka, all freshly made, great quality, tasty and reasonably priced, good choice of freshly made naans as well. Curries are also a good choice with some decent vegetarian options as well. Restaurant is also good for a more formal choice.
Y.
My favorite Pakistani Restaurant. I love the mixed grill and naans
Z. N.
fantastic food.
very good hospitality
service is great. and the prices are reasonable.
S. M.
Can be very good when you get to know the staff and they serve you fresh food. Salad needs to be cut better and improved generally. Toilets needs to be replaced with new ones, very old and tired.
D. R.
Reasonable price, great food ,excellent service.. we were totally aww with the service received, food was full on, tasted real fresh and exactly what we wanted. we wanted to eat bit more but we were too full. Definitely coming back.
A. Y.
Good service and great food. You have to bring your own wine. Awesome food. Don't have to wait long for the food. This is the Brent Street branch.

One of the best Indian takeaway I've had in a while. So tasty and fresh food. Love it!!

I have been a customer since the last 10 years or so. This resturant serves one of the best food in the UK. I tried different Pakistani and Indian Resturant but there is no match to this restaurant's standard. They dont do formula cooking (i.e. one sauce for most dishes) and each dish tastes totally different.
I would like to advise to dont miss their ' Nihari ' . Nihari is a traditional pakistani dish, lamb shank slow cooked for an amazing flavour. I have to admit that among different dishes; i always ordered 'Nihari' and it tastes better than before.
Best of Luck..
G. M.
Great authentic food and flavoursome. Just like home from home, we had seekh kebab and karahi gosht, both fab. Planning to come again very soo.
G. L.
Not quite like the real Lahore Kebab in Whitechapel, London. Just a suburban joint... It's alright in comparison to other suburban Punjabi restaurants -- you'd gain the local convenience and give up a bit of extra flavour of the Whitechapel place
D. P.
Best chicken tika I have ever had. Lamb chops are amazing as well. This is a must visit on every trip I take to the UK.
S. A. M. A.
Decent place for Pakistani food. Can't go wrong with fresh garlic naan.
L. D.
One of the best Indian takeaway I've had in a while. So tasty and fresh food. Love it!!
E. M.
Would absolutely recommend trying out this place. Fantastic atmosphere, yummy dishes, great customer service. Highly recommended.
N. N.
Nice food, wish the management would not allow customers to bring their own alcoholic drinks. Which looks like urine, ewww and smells awful.
K. M.
Quite ordinary. Good daal but the bhindi was not upto the mark. Was not sure whether the paneer was fresh or frozen so did not order.
A. A.
Best Pakistani food in North London. Recommended the Seekh Kebabs 😋
T. E.
Best Asian food I've ever eaten
S. A.
Quick service. Lovely food. Will definitely come again. Try the Keema Aloo biriyani you will not be disappointed 😋
A.
Good simple food served quickly. Service isn't amazing, but you only really come for the food which is excellent. Bring your own alcohol
b. m.
i think they have new owners or chefs. quality has suffered. will give them another chance, but not impressed at last visit- portions are smaller than before
K. Y.
Best food ever i had... seriously lahori taste. 5 star 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟

Food was excellent and the bring your own alcohol policy means the overall bill is kept down . Thoroughly recommended

Go for the starters like the seekh kebabs, lamb chops and chicken tikkah.
Relaxed low key place , but good authentic Pakistani food.
J. S.
We had a very nice dinner at this restaurant as a family. The food is delicious and the staff were very helpful.
M. M.
Pretty basic surroundings, take your own drink ( wine, beer etc) but the food is very good.
T. R.
I visited friends in London over the weekend and it was such a treat to have some decent Asian food. The naan was thick and fluffy and super rich.
R. A.
Lovely traditional Pakistani food. Great place to have a working lunch meeting.
