Reviews of Panas Gurkha Restaurant
I. J.
Such a lovely place! Completely out of the way for me but I’m so glad to have visited.
I didn’t know much about this place prior to my visit. I soon discovered they provided great community support and assistance during the height of the pandemic by supplying free meals to its local community and NHS frontline staff. They have a great community presence and reputation.
As soon as you enter this small, local establishment you’ll be greeted warmly and welcomed like an old friend. Impeccable service without the fuss but lots of love instead!
The food is fantastic. Amazing flavours, fresh ingredients and wonderfully presented food. The portions are incredibly generous, so much so I took more of my food home than I ate there, and I was hungry!
The owner, Sujan was trained under Michelin star’s first Indian chef, Atul Kochhar. The passion and love of food is there from the moment you walk in and smell the aromas and have your first bite.
If only it wasn’t so far from me!

Just visited the newly refurbished Panas restaurant and had an excellent, top quality rogan josh and a really lovely evening. The team at panas do themselves proud, great food and if you take some time to read about the work they’ve done in the community through the pandemic and the story of Sujan , the founder, it’s quite humbling. If you can go, enjoy and share.

I had the best lamb shank ever at this restaurant. The meat was incredibly tender and it melted in my mouth. The service was extremely good!! The staff (ie Pinu, Rafi, Natalia and also of course the manager) was extremely friendly and they made my entire meal even better. This is really the best Restaurant that I’ve been to in London- a lot better than Dishoom seriously.

Table for four. Chatted with the owner and waiters. Attentive service. All the food was excellent. 4 homemade chutneys - all amazing. My malabar fish main was nicely presented and well spiced with pilau rice. Sides were so good and were made vegan friendly on request. Definitely will return.

Panas is the best! I live in Essex but when I visit her we ALWAYS go here & they remember us! Even though this year was only 3 times due to Covid. The staff are friendly and food exceptional

Restaurant has been refurbished, excellent service and good dishes well presented with good flavour. The scallops were very well cooked and great vegetarian dishes as main and sides.

Had a fabulous family meal here last week. The food was fantastic and the staff were so friendly. Loved it!

We had lunch yesterday, it was quiet, we were the only ones there. We were greeted by a lovely staff. She was very sweet, welcoming and helpful. We particularly were there for the momos and it didn’t disappoint. We had Nepalese dish for our main course, which was incredible both in taste and value for money. Highly recommend this restaurant

Delicious food, beautifully presented. Worth travelling a few miles to get to. Friendly service. The owners really care and it shows.

We been to Panas last night . Completely different food. Food was superb and outstanding plating. Friendly service.

This place was a pleasant surprise! The food is amazing and it is the first time we tried cuisine from Nepal. We tried Naan Rotis and Zimbu chicken. Staff member Saroj was extremely kind and customised the spice level for us. We loved the food and the overall hospitality deserves a special mention. The spread is good for Indian cuisine also. It would be good if you could include more options on desserts. Highly recommended!
S. K.
The paneer masala goes amazingly with butter naan and make sure to get yourself some daal makhani paired with cheese naan. The samosas with tamarind sauce is to die for. The food was mouthwatering will definitely be coming here again 😋🤤

Went many years ago to a fabulous Nepalese restaurant in York, found out during the pandemic this place existed. So we finally got to try it. Very different from the first but just as fabulous!!! Warm, welcoming and just divine. And on our way home we came across a homeless gentleman, so we gave him the food were unable to eat due to the large portions given (our doggiebag). We feel it is in the tradition of this restaurant and culture. Go the Gurkha's!
S. R.
Throughout lockdown this amazing restaurant have donated nearly 100,000 meals to hospitals, the army, vaccination centres, local charities and the homeless. The food is amazing and I applaud them for all they are doing in our community

We celebrated my mum’s 70th birthday at Panas Gurkha restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious and great value for your money. The staff looked after us so well. They even sung ‘Happy Birthday’ to my mum. I can’t wait to go back. Excellent
K. B.
Excellent place, excellent staff and truly magnificent food. Since first trying this restaurant and being so blown away with the quality of the food we couldn’t wait to return and return we did, several times, with each time being so fulfilling. Highly recommend.

I discovered Panas via the Love SE4 twitter feed. It's the best curry I have EVER found in London and I've tried many in SE London. The website said they didn't deliver to New Cross but was able to get it via Deliveroo, then when I ring now the very friendly guy takes my order and delivers.
The food is a far higher standard than most places, with lots of herbs and spices and an amazing taste. Their Chicken Buhna is about the best I've ever had and compares to the best Indian restaurants in other cities and countries that I've visited. To have this in Lewisham is AMAZING!
T. m.
What’s happened at Panas lately, new management or new chef? We’ve been loyal customers for over 10 years but now prices have gone up and quality has gone down. We ordered saag mushroom tonight as a side and it was literally tinned spinach and tinned mushroom in a pot. The time before we ordered saag aloo and it was the same situation, a green gloop with a few spuds in it. Sadly we’re losing the will to keep trying.

EASY FIVE STARS! Undoubtedly the best food I've eaten in a long time, amazing flavours, inspiring dishes and the best vegan menu I've seen. Everything freshly made with passion and the manager knew exactly what he was talking about when it came to vegan and vegetarian food, which is so rare. I cannot recommend this place enough, I popped in this evening and was welcomed so warmly, your custom is genuinely appreciated, the manager and staff were so freindly and went out of their way to make me happy. Extremely reasonably priced for the freshness and quality. I cannot wait to go back.

I really love this place. The staff is exceptionally nice and the food is phenomenal.
The above note is from my daughter as she was overwhelmed by the warmth and the taste. Truly authentic taste with great presentation. Next step- A Michelin Star :) :) :)

We had a lovely meal at the restaurant last night. Amazing food (I'd recommend the Lamb Shank), lovely new decor and warm and friendly service. Apart from the fact it's a great curry, these guys deserve our business locally - they delivered over 100,000 meals to key workers during the pandemic. Thank you Panas.
U. K.
We had a takeaway for the first time last night and ordered a large selection of dishes...and every single one was sensational. Absolutely delicious and cooked beautifully. Not greasy or heavy at all. The restaurant was super friendly. This will definitely become our curry of choice going forward. Cannot recommend highly enough!
Z. B.
Lovely food. Friendly service. Well priced. And a little different to the norm.
M. L.
It’s a nice place, quite quiet on a sat night, food flavour not what I expected but perhaps that’s my unsophisticated English palette.
A. W.
Absolutely delicious food, ordered the scallops followed by the lime & coriander tandoori chicken - mouthwatering and totally authentic...5 star dining at home!
Fast delivery and very professional driver who called 2 minutes before arriving at my door.
Thank you Panas Gurkha I will be back!

We’ve been ordering takeaway from here for years. The food is consistently, absolutely delicious. We went to the restaurant for the first time on Saturday. The staff were attentive, friendly and engaging without being overbearing. The food was wonderful. We deliberately ordered more than we could eat at the time so we could take what was left home and enjoy more. Cannot recommend highly enough and very much looking forward to going back. The Momos and Jhaneko Masu are incredible.
T. D.
We had a wonderful meal here tonight with a friend. The food is so perfectly pitched flavour wise. All the spices well balanced and not a single scrap went back to the kitchen. Great value too. We left stuffed and happy. Fantastic friendly service too. Can't wait to go back. Really thankful our friend Sean introduced us to this place and the lovely owner who genuinely cares about what he does and the community. I highly recommend the Palak kofta as a stand out dish. My main course of Chicken Cchwela will be something I crave until the next time I can visit. Highly recommended
S. H.
WOW! Amazing experience at the Panas Gurkha, some of the best sushi I've ever had and the most tasteful Nepalese food! Service was fantastic and the quality of food was unbelievable, especially considering how well priced it is!!!
L. K.
These guys were great! They catered expertly for vegans, amazing depth of flavour to all the dishes and they have an award as one of the best vegan places in town. Fantastic service too, really nice dudes
G. M.
Best Gurkha restaurant I have ever been to anywhere in the world. Everything I tasted on everyone's plates were delicious. The family and staff that work there have the most wonderful customer service. We will be back and will keep going back.
D. M.
This isn’t your standard, local curry house. This is great is great food, cooked with care, so be adventurous with the menu. Good vegetarian options and delightful service. Well worth a visit.
C. M.
After not having eaten there for ages, I finally emerged from lockdown mode and went there last night. A very warm welcome from them, a new look to the restaurant and a new menu. The food I had was excellent. I'll be back soon!
A. H.
Mixed review of my takeaway 2 weeks ago. To be fair the person I spoke to was helpful when ordering to help decide on dishes for my daughter who has specific nut allergy. However, part of the order was missing and as we waited for the dish to arrive everything was cold when we finally ate. On the whole the food was good, though I had expected better value for money overall (small portion size). The chicken tikka masala tasted of tomato soup. I would also have liked a warning about the hot green chilli's in the green salad.
P. A.
Very friendly staff and delicious meal, thoroughly enjoyed it. Thank you Panas!
R. R.
Love this place...delicious food, always high quality with great choice for veggies and carnivores alike, and always very friendly service

Delicious food with very nice service, Ravi thank you for your hospitality...highlight dishes were lamp chops and scallops. We will be back for more

Yesterday was my first time visiting this restaurant. We were a group of 6. Food, both vegetarian and meat dishes were lovely and well cooked. Everyone ate everything that was on their plates. I had possibly the best Sheek Kebab I have ever had. The flavours were delicate and not overpowwring. My brother had "the best chicken bhuna he had ever tasted". Staff were polite and helpful, even adapting slightly, on request, that which was on the menu.
Lovely decor, lovely bright and airy restaurant.

Gorgeous food and welcoming staff. A real gem!
We were there a couple of weeks ago, after having to convince the children on trying Nepalese and they absolutely loved it. It is a little out of the way for us but we will come back.
Our host, Rafi, was very kind and we had a nice chat with him, he was especially lovely with the kids and made them feel comfortable.
The owner also popped out of the kitchen to have a chat with us, which was lovely; and had the kindness to send us a 'Papdi cha'at' on the house because he felt we were waiting long (we did not feel so). The Cha'at was so delicious. We also enjoyed the kebabs, and the momos for starters. I particularly enjoyed the different hints of the Butter Chicken (very different to the blandness in other places), the Lamb Bhuna was also amazing. Their stuffed naan breads (Peshwari) were also a hit. The mango lassi (a mango and yoghurt drink, which can be heavy so I shared with the husband ) was neither too sweet nor too tangy, it is also recommended.
Lovingly decorated, comfortable, cosy and great portion size too. We all really wished we had stomachs that match the size of our eyes. I also noticed that the restaurant was filled with regulars "in-eaters" and "take awayers" which is also a good sign. Very Much Recommended.
V. K.
Absolutely loved the food, was so well spiced and the flavour was incredible. Super friendly staff. Everything we ate was great but I'd definitely recommend the Palak kofta and the chicken chhwela both were phenomenal. The naan is perfectly cooked and the green beans with coconut are a must have side. Don't miss out having some momo too! The restaurant is really nice inside. We'll definitely be back! Thank you so much.

This was excellent quality food, we had lamb/ duck and the best korma curry I’ve had in London. Will keep coming thank you for such great standard and attention to taste. And even better service .. see you soon!

The Tandoori salmon was delicious, with food full of flavours and courteous helpful staff, this restaurant never disappoints!

Popped in on Saturday evening with family. Hadn't booked a table, but the staff were as always friendly and accommodating, despite clearly being very busy. The food was just off the chart excellent, as always. Full of flavour. Whatever I've tried from the menu and I try and pick something new each time, it is always impeccably cooked. I simply cannot fault this place and the rest of the family there with me agreed wholeheartedly. Real value for money and getting busier every time I visit, which is wonderful. Do yourselves a favour and give it a go. You wont be disappointed!

Delicious food and warm and friendly staff. We are always made to feel special when we come here and the owner even gave our daughter a tour of the kitchen and lesson in baking in the tandoor oven! As vegetarians, we love the variety of flavours and thoughtful menu. Highly recommend the owner's vegetarian special. Take away is always superb too.
D. H.
I dropped into Panas Gurkha for a take away, but I will be back for an eat-in meal with the family soon. The staff were very friendly. The food delicious and plentiful so good value. The ambiance has lots of reminders of Nepal; a place I love.
The only criticism is that they are not yet using biodegradable takeaway boxes. They can recycled but I would prefer to dispose of them on my compost heap.
M. M.
Really friendly and lovely service - food was amazing.
As a vegan they were really helpful in pointing out options and super flexible in offerings! Quite a few options too - was surprised!
Very good, highly recommend the black daal & pumpkin curry
L. B.
One of my favourite restaurants in London. The food is amazing every time - with a wide selection of authentic Nepalese dishes - and the staff are incredibly welcoming and friendly. Highly recommend!

What a wonderful business both ethically and standards of food.
I’m an NHS worker and this business have kindly donated meals for the past 6 weeks. Despite the struggles we have faced, I look forward to having a meal prepared by this wonderful restaurant.
I will be eating at this restaurant in the future when the government allows us too. Thank you.

Best place to eat on a birthday.
Took my son here to celebrate his 12 birthday, he absolutely loved it. Travelled from Bromley to eat there. Service 10/10 from arriving till leaving. Was even given a birthday treat for my son. Would definitely recommend this fantastic Gurkha restaurant, not to mention food was delicious 😋
A. C.
Fabulous food. Had takeaway a few times from them, always magnificent, but eating at the restaurant took it to another level: incredible flavours from totally unique dishes, fabulous service, reasonably priced, left completely satisfied. Best Nepalese cuisine in the region, hands down.
N. F.
Delicious and nicely presented local Nepalese food
N. B.
Amazing food and exemplary service. Best quality and tastiest food in South London. Highly recommended. Great for Vegans. Delivery is always very prompt. Thank you for getting us through lock down.
E. K.
Very lovely atmosphere and excellent service. Staff were welcoming and attentive. Recommend Panas for Authentic Nepalese food. The curry was very nice and full of flavours and well portion. Thank you and definitely coming back soon.
R. K.
The hospitality in this restaurant is fantastic. The owner greeted and seated us, he even offered us an complimentary starter! Food was fresh to order and tasted delicious.
They have been nominated for the British curry awards and are definitely worthy candidates.
A. M.
I can honestly say this is the best Indian restaurant we have ever been to and we love a curry! The food is so fresh and tasty. The chefs add that extra something that we have never experienced before. The owner and staff are incredibly friendly and after only a couple of visits we feel like they have known us forever. We cannot recommend Panas Gurkha highly enough A*******
P. M.
Such an amazing experience during my recent experience at Panas! Excellent hospitality and exceptional service - I had garlic chilli chicken with garlic naan. My meal was packed with flavour - impeccable taste! My tastebuds were in heaven. I would 100% recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a great meal with an environment to match! Thanks again and I will definitely be back soon.

We came here for my friend's birthday and had an absolutely fantastic meal. The minute we arrived they played happy birthday and following this the excellent hospitality continued. The food was reasonably priced and tasted amazing, particularly the black lentil dahl. We've been coming here for years and it never disappoints, the staff are always extremely friendly.
S. M.
Had a fantastic delicious meal hosted wonderfully by Rani and the owner who took the time to chat. Would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food and service are worth the 5 stars I’ve given. They even went the extra mile and delivered a take away to a local family member who was unable to join us in the restaurant.
K. Z.
We've just moved to Lewisham and Panas Gurkha has quickly become our favourite local curry house. The food is delicious and reasonably priced. The service at the restaurant is fantastic. Even our 10 month baby had a great time and the owner and employees are very kind and accommodating.
S. S.
Panas is our favourite restaurant in South East London. Their vegan menu is extensive and they’re always happy to adapt their menu for us. They’re also super lovely with our son who makes a right old mess when we eat in ☺️ The food is amazing and the service is outstanding. Highly recommend.
A. M.
Having just moved into the area, we thought we would give Panas a try and we were not disappointed. Rafi was an excellent host and looked after us very well. The food was perfectly balanced and hit all the notes. Can't wait to hit it up again.
C. D.
Really enjoyed our meal here. Staff were great. We told the waiter we were all vegan and they were very helpful in ensuring our food did not contain animal products. They have also received an award for their vegan food. Food was excellent and great value. Restaurant itself was perfectly nice. One thing I would suggest would be an update to the menu that has slightly more detail on allergens and which dishes are vegan or can be made vegan. But I would say unlike most restaurants I did feel a lot more comfortable and confident in the staffs ability to guide us in this respect. So overall highly recommended
S. L.
Thought I would try somewhere different and had seen reviews of this Indian/Nepalese place online and it did not disappoint. The food was beautifully cooked and reasonably priced. The manager whom I spoke with on the phone was a lovely man who even gave us a bottle of beer and poppadom's on the house! The delivery arrived swiftly as well. Would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone and will be making it our go to place from now on.
S. M.
I've lived in south East London for over 15 years now and this is the best Indian restaurant I've been to so far. As well as familiar standards they offer specialities that are distinctive and delicious. The place is unpretentious, and friendly, and the cooking is excellent.
D. B.
Found out about this gem online because of their extensive and transparent vegan menu. We've been putting off going for months and tonight I finally caved in and ordered it for delivery. And wow...
Gutted it's taken us so long to eat this wonderful Nepalese food. The delivery was so swift, the gentleman on the phone was incredibly forthcoming and genuinely happy to take the order,.and the food was epic. I had the Dum Biriyani and it was alive with spices and was so rich and flavoursome. I think we've finally found our regular spot. Can't wait to dine in for the full experience after the 4th July.
R. W.
Highly recommend this lovely restaurant. Beautifully spiced food, the lamb chops were tender and perfectly cooked. The staff were so polite and attentive. One of my all time top ten currys. Do yourselves a favour and take a short walk down the hill from Blackheath Station and enjoy a great evening here. I will have to make this a regular haunt of mine.
f. s.
Absolutely delicious food and lovely staff. We've spent quite a bit of time in Nepal and Indian and the food here really took us back. The best curry I've had in a very long time. We will be back!
B. R.
I struggle to find Indian food in London that actually tastes authentic and fresh, especially as I was brought up with fresh Indian food growing up, but this is a rare gem of a restaurant in London that offers just that. (Although it's Nepalese, a lot of the flavours and principles are very similar to that of Indian food). The service is excellent, the staff are very friendly and offer suggestions for customers who aren't sure of what to get and there's a good variety on the menu. When the food arrived, the portions were very generous (we had to get most of it to take away!) but so, so tasty. Myself and my sisters ordered lamb and chicken and both were so flavoursome, tender and juicy - a far cry from most Indian places that just throw spices at food and leave it at that! As a bonus, we got a free starter as the chef had already prepared something! We were so thoroughly impressed, we gave a £15 tip - I always tip according to how good the service and food was and this was way more deserving than just 12.5% of the bill. I would 100% recommend this place to anyone who likes a really calm, pleasant atmosphere to eat in and good, fresh, authentic Nepalese/Indian- style food. Will definitely visit again with friends.
M. H.
An amazing experience! Food was incredible, the fish curry was so so good. Staff are really friendly and very helpful. Pinu was our server and couldn’t fault him.
Would recommend!!!
M. L.
Brilliant restaurant with lovely staff. The food is excellent. Loads of great and unique vegetarian options. They also did amazing work supporting NHS workers over lockdown so deserve the custom. Love this place!
M. S.
We want here because the do a full vegan menu on Mondays and it was by far one of the best meals I've had in London. The C Momos are a work of art, I could happily eat a big pile of them washed down with a couple of nice cold Gurkha beers. But it would be a crime to miss out on the rest of the menu. Everything we tried was flavoursome, spiced and seasoned to perfection. To top it all off all the staff are lovely and the owner is a star, taking time to chat and explain the menu he has a genuine passion for food and it shows.
M. A.
We really enjoyed the restaurant, it was a lovely experience. The service was very attentive, Rafi took good care of us and even discussed cricket with my partner. The food excellent. We had a tilapia dish and butter chicken, both very nicely done. My partner especially remarked on the tilapia.
The ambiance is relaxing and nicely appointed. Parking wasn't too difficult, especially after 7 pm. We'll definitely be back.
M. R.
The best curry I've had (except for my mum's) and I'm Pakistani!
I normally get the lamb shank and the flavour is amazing. I wish they delivered all over London so all my friends could try their food.
S. B.
By far the best Indian/Nepalese food in London. With these guys on my door step I am guilty of ordering once a week, fresh produce & exquisite flavours at such an affordable, resonance price. Yes a little bit more pricey that your average Indian but well worth spending that few quid more I can assure you!!!
Dining in is also a wonderful experience, 5***** service, Myself and my sister are vegan and the whole team made sure they catered to our dietary requirements. Panas has a variety of vegan options that will have any meat mans mouth watering.
s. a.
I have been attending this restaurant for years and it just never gets old. The food is always on point and any time I try a new dish it becomes my favourite. I would highly recommend attending here because the food is tasty and the staff are really friendly. Service is on point too!
A. K.
This place is simply unbelievable. Order it, Now, I dont care if your at work or on holiday, just get it done. Prices are more than reasonable for such good quality, Great customer service. I came with my partner and her parents from Germany and we were treated brilliantly. I think my girlfriends parents are currently looking for Nepalese restaurants in Germany now, they're hooked! Whether you go for a sit down meal or order takeaway, Panas Gurkha will always be a great choice.

22.07.20 Amazing food. Fantastic service. The staff here are very friendly and accomodating. The curry dish i had was delicious. I'm definitely coming back for more.

Arrived 45 minutes before they closed. Stayed open for us . Lovely friendly polite staff . Nothing was to much trouble . First class food and service. I think maybe my favourite restaurant now. Will definitely return . 😁🙏

I travel all the way from Dartford to experience this amazing food! I absolutely love it! So delicious! Great staff and service too!! I would recommend it as my favourite curry house by miles !
A. V.
Very helpful and kind staff. They are always in good spirits and go through lengths for customer service. The food is also 5/5, I've never tried Nepalese food and they definitely got me hooked up.

Very nice Nepalese Restaurant.
We’ve been here many times and really enjoyed our visit at Panas.
The menu is great and the food tastes freshly made.
Staff is friendly and accommodating.
G. J.
Excellent food and really friendly service. We had curries and a delicious and spicy fried lamb dish. Had a nice chat with the owner and the guys working there. They also have some great paintings of Nepalese life on the walls.
J. D.
Excellent meal
With thanks

Came across this on a review of the Top curry restaurants and was not disappointed at all.
Excellent quality Nepalese food, slightly different to the typical Indian cuisine I’m used to but no less elegant and tasty, beautiful!
Fantastic service, very reasonably priced and would definitely recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Finally found a good Nepalese restaurant in SE London. Quality food, excellent service and reasonably priced. Staff are very friendly. I was given a free alcohol drink on the house. If you love Nepalese food, this is the place to come
L. T.
Had a lovely birthday meal here. Food was delicious and a nicely varied menu with unusual specials for those feeling more adventurous and the classic British Indian dishes for those who want to stick to what they know. Service was fantastic, very welcoming, friendly and attentive- will definitely encourage me to make the journey again in the future rather than getting takeout (although that's always been great too)!

Earlier this year I was in Lee and discovered Panas Gurkha Restaurant. My family and I enjoyed a variety of delicious items. Warm, friendly folks and great food. Today I ordered home delivery for a Birthday Dinner for my son ,,,Very Delicious!!!! Thanks for your patience with my order from Toronto.~
l. s.
This wonderful local restaurant has long been a family favourite of ours. We love them even more now that they have been providing meals for those on the frontline at Lewisham Hospital. As a doctor working long hours during this lockdown, I cannot recommend the delicious dishes from Pana Gurkha highly enough for those looking for a break from the kitchen!
C. B.
Panas is an excellent curry restaurant, which has recently won some well deserved awards for its food. Our family really love curry and we’ve tried a lot of restaurants in South East London but Panas is in a league of its own. The food is really delicious and fresh, and the naan bread was definitely the best we have ever eaten. The staff are excellent and the atmosphere is warm and welcoming. You are in for a treat.

We had a fantastic first experience at Panas Gurkha. Food was absolutely delicious (Papri Chat, Chicken Momos, Coconut Rice as well as Zimbu Chicken and the Coconut Duck Dish is highly recommended) Staff were very friendly, could not fault a single thing in terms of cleanliness opening after covid as all staff were wearing masks, tables were social distanced and we could see many staff working hard to maintain cleanliness like cleaning glasses / surfaces etc. Panas Gurkha are also part of the 'Eat out to Help out' Scheme too. All round great evening at Panas Gurkha and will certainly be returning.

Just superb.
Had a takeaway from Panas for the first time tonight. The food was excellent, well priced and very veggie friendly.
Service was lovely - they are welcoming and kind.
Will definitely be coming back.

Brilliant - undoubtedly the best Indian restaurant in Lewisham/Eltham - guaranteed

Yummy food and great service!
Unlike most restaurants that serve a variety of items with basically the same flavored gravy, Panas maintained authentic taste of every item. I simply loved everything I had there. I am definitely going back and will recommend the place to anyone looking for tasty Indian/ nepalese food in London! 😊

Came from France and tried Panas Gurkha for the first time. I must say the food is brilliantly tasteful and the service is outstanding. The chef Mr Nanu must be complimented for his great way of cooking. Thanks you guys and definitely coming back

Today was the first time I tried my local, award wining Gurkha restaurant. The owner himself greeted me and and waited with me discussing his passion for good food cooked traditional. Restaurant clean and has a nice atmosphere. Recommended.

A great find in Lewisham. The staff and the owner especially, are very friendly and can recommend which Nepalese dishes to get if you’re not too sure what to order.
The food is flavoursome, in particular the butter chicken and the aloo gobi. Make sure to try the garlic naan too, as it’s the perfect accompaniment for the saucy curries.
They also have a 5 star hygiene rating and are accommodating to those with allergies/dietary requirements. We will be returning again without a doubt!

This was an amazing experience. The staff we welcoming, the place clean and the food was delicious.
The entire experience was made so special but all in the staff and manager. Flavorsome food, great atmosphere and awesome people.
Thank you to all for making its a wonderful experience

Have just returned after having a delicious meal at Panasonic Gurkha Restaurant. The food was excellent, with a variety of special authentic Nepalese dishes. I especiálly enjoyed the Pumpkin Curry, Tandoori Salmon and the Papri Chat. However, all was delicious. The staff were friendly and efficient and very happy to inform us about the food available. Thank you for a lovely evening.
Wishing you continued success. Michael Doyle.

As i was taking my toddler for a dine out, i was secretly “expecting” for another chaos night. I could not be more wrong. My daughter absolutely loves her food. She keeps on taking big bites on her cheese naan and asking for more.
Food is amazing as it serves an authentic feel of an Indian / Nepalese cuisine. Waiters are very friendly and attentive. They go out of their way to ensure if everything is OK and if my daughter needs a small spoon / straw. Owner is on site and you can tell they take pride in their business and try to ensure that customer receives a good experience overall.
Will defo come back for more!

Absolutely amazing food and wonderful service from Ravi! So friendly and a great welcoming atmosphere. Would definitely recommend, best curry I've had in years, thank you!
S. A.
Excellent customer service experienced at panas Gurkha on sunday afternoon. The tandoori dishes are exceptionally good with strong flavor and well touched with species. Also I must say the Nepalese curry here are excellent specially dry lamb dish and chicken Bhuna. Definitely coming back
S. K.
Very good food. We've ordered takeaway from Panas Gurkha a few times and the food has always been excellent. We tend to order for collection and it only takes about 20 minutes for the food to be ready. Definitely worth trying out some of the specials, not the average curry you get in an Indian takeaway - much better.
R. C.
They will go out of their way to help you and cater for your requirements, You can phone direct to place an order, the food quality is always top class and arrives on time. Very tasty tender food with superb cooking. The hospitality here is excellent, the owner and his Staff always do their best to make sure their customers enjoy their meals.

Been twice to this restaurant, both times with my partner. We have never had a bad experience, the staff are always attentive and polite and the food is the best Nepalese food in the London area. The restaurant offers an authentic experience with its beautiful decor and background music. The staff offer complimentary drinks with the bill and on our first visit we were given additional food free of charge. I have no bad words about the restaurant and it really highlights all the best things about Nepal and Nepalese people.
M. G.
Amazing food and good service! We visited for the first time today but will go again for sure!

Wonderful dinner - fresh, full of flavour, veggie friendly, lovely staff. We will be back! Stef & Jess

The employees were very nice and made a big table for the group I was with. They adapted nicely to our spontaneous visit and the food was very delicious. If I am ever back in London I will definitely eat here again!

Choose panas to celebrate our anniversary. I must say the quality of food and the spices are on the spot. I would give 5/5 for the food itself. So fortunate that we found this place and they made our evening great. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED
P. R.
Well, what an experience! I am the fussiest person on the planet and I was blown away by the friendly service, the ambiance but above all, the quality of the food! I will definitely come here again and again and recommend to everyone I know, Panas is the place for curry and for a very pleasant evening out 👍
B. C.
The food is good however there was a mix up with our order a few weeks ago so I am giving just 4 stars. I would give them another chance.
A.
They don't come much better than this restaurant. The food is excellent
And sujan is a very kind man
Look at this restaurant online
And look at what this a wonderful man has doing to help the the less fortunate
The man has a heart of 💯 gold 💖

Myself and my boyfriend go here every few weeks. It’s always a pleasure we know the staff so well now and they are always so friendly and professional . The food is always delicious definitely worth a visit if your in the area.

Excellent experience all round. Had takeaway for 5 people. Food was lovely, and generous portion sizes. Good variety of dishes available. Also cannot fault the customer service. The people who work here are always so friendly! Would definitely recommend and always come back.
R. J.
We’ve come down from Forest hill for the experience. Heard many a good thing about Panas. I can tell you that they didn’t disappoint, fantastic atmosphere, welcoming staff and the most important thing, FABULOUS food. Place has an authentic family run feel to it. Highly Recommended *****

This was my 3rd meal from Panas Gurkha since I was so impressed. You can hardly hide the quality of meat and this resturant certainly sets the bar - superb, tasty, tender, succulent chunks of meat without any artificial colouring(as they advertise) - perfectly cooked! And my goodness, the Lamb Shank was amazing! It's one of my favourite dishes and I make it a point to try it from any Indian but this has to be the yummiest one ever! So full of flavour as well as a subtle spicy kick. All-in-all though, I'm most certainly going there many many times in the future. Very highly recommended!
C. S.
These guys knows how to pleased the customers. Great food with lots of varieties of Nepalese & Indian options. It was our first time but pretty sure it want be the last.
Highly recommend this place.
V. V.
Great place, went with my partner and we're definitely coming back. Really tasty food and served just right, the staff was very friendly and provided great service. Had the lamb special and the prawn and coconut curry both delicious and something I hadn't tried before.
E. K.
Great restaurant . Amazing food and even better service! Hadn't been here in a few years, but was welcomed back with open arms, (literally) by the Manager!
Definitely a place to try, deserving of 5⭐.

“The best Indian food in South London”
After passing Panas a few times,I took my wife . We were not disappointed. Right from when we entered, you are given non overbearing attentive service, the place looks great. My wife had the lamb kebab, I had prawn puree for starters. The mains were lamb sank, garlic chicken accompanied with saag paneer, mushroom rice and cheese nan. All the dishes were freshly cooked and ingredients used of good quality. We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the ambiance and will for sure visit again. Thank you
l. g.
I live round the corner and get take away from them all the time. Delicious food, reasonable prices and the kindest, very professional service! Great for a delivery order or a cosy dinner out, would definitely recommend!
L. J.
Panas Gurkha is an excellent nepalese / indian restaurant. i always stick with the nepalese specialities. Quality of the food is very high and service is very good. Highly recommended. The food was exceptional and the portion sizes where big I am leaving not only with a full belly but a smile on my face because the staff are lovely thank you guys 🙏🏽

Panas is a South London jewel. The food is excellent, with a wide range of vegetarian and vegan options available and the service is second to none. Thoroughly recommended.
O. M.
Visited with Indian friends in a party of nine including kids. Presentation, service and food outstanding, including vegetarian options. Portions are large and the wine and beer selection is very good as well as mango lassi which I will try on my next visit. We were all impressed and will be back soon.
K. P.
Absolutely amazing choice of dishes, including momos, we've been kindly enough given a free cold appetiser which accommodated for my lack of taste for really spicy food. Went there with my boyfriend I've ordered butter chicken curry with plain basmati rice, some raita and a garlic naan. As I said I'm not big on spice and my dish had just about enough hum of spice whilst being luxuriously creamy. I couldn't eat it all so our server was kind enough to wrap my leftovers in a doggy bag so I could take them home. We've also met the owner who's an amazing host, very kind and charming. Overall it was a 5* experience and I'm glad we didn't order a delivery and went there instead. Will be back as it was absolute perfection 👌🏻
G. H.
I asked for a xacuti but apparently that's not on the menu. So the chef came on the phone and we discussed the options, he agreed to make his version of the dish and I was not disappointed! The flavours were tantalising and a treat for the taste buds, I enjoyed every moment of my meal and would definitely encourage this to be a permanent addition to the menu. Full credit to the chef for pulling this one out of his locker.

I order on-line occasionally and in general quality is OK, most dishes have well-balanced flavouring and a good characteristic. Delivery guys are polite, and if you order over £30 you receive some papadons + souse for free.
I rate 4 star for the following reasons:
I consider myself a good cook, and understand how to prepare and cook different meat types. Nearly always in the souse dishes the chicken meat is overcooked and near bone dry :( Feels very much like as the chicken meat had been prepared and cooked separately. Doesn't feel part of the dish and doesn't blend so well as lack of flavour of the actual dish. Shame as "Cylone" (my last order) £11 is a house special and I'd expect the meat to be cooked in (with !) the souse as they note in the menu. The meat quantity should be more generous as appears to be a quarter of a chicken breast (small portion).
My wife's usually orders king prawn dishes, in general you get 3 average size king prawn although yesterday these were sadly smaller than usual. I do feel this is overpriced for £14 for take away dish (Panas King Prawn Masala), I believe 4 prawns at this size would be more adequate to keep customers happy.
I prefer a Naan bread being thinner and larger, Panas' opposite: nor small or large, thick or thin... however they taste very good!
They should be using biodegradable takeaway boxes, I'd happy to pay a ted more for that kind of packaging.
J. F.
Absolutely fantastic food complimented by super friendly staff who go above and beyond to make you feel welcome. An absolute gem of South East London. 5*!
V. H.
Ordered home delivery arrived just after the time stated but was exceptional quality and very reasonably priced. The lamb rogan was particularly tasty and had a lot of large chunks of meat. We love Panas.
A. H.

What a wonderful business.
I work for the NHS and they have kindly donated meals for the past few weeks. Looking forward to enjoying a meal here when its all back to normal. Thank you.
P. D.
Just had a lovely meal at Panas Gurkha. The staff were exceptionally attentive. The momos were the best we've had in the SE. The daal makhani had a great texture and deep flavour. Fresh paratha and ice cold beer. Highly recommended. Will definitely be going back.
S. H.
I ate 'Jhaneko Masu' (spicy lamb) and sushi at this restaurant last week, and I loved them so much that I went again with my wife to have them the very next day. The food was delicious and the people are very friendly and courteous. I will surely go there again to try new dishes next time I visit London.
Top Tip: Meet the owner Mr. Sujan. He is a wonderful host.
5 star for everything in this restaurant. I wish it had a branch here at Lancaster.
T. P.
You're on the Lee High Road, and you actually want to eat a lovely meal? Well skip along to Panas gurka. Beautiful food with very friendly staff and very good prices. 5 stars, no question.

Panas Gurkha has been a local favourite for us here in Catford for many a year. But during the current pandemic, the restaurant has demonstrated the the true Gurkha spirit by coming to the aid of myself and other health workers at Lewisham Hospital by providing us with delicious meals whilst on shift. We really value this local hero, thank you so much.
A. F.
Great food and service. They’ve done great things for the community during lockdown and won’t disappoint in food quality. Lucky to have in south east London.

I had a great meal in this place last night 29/10/13.
I can honestly say that it was one for all to try, service was excellent , food was out of this world, would especially recommend any of the Chef's Recommendations Nepalese Dishes.

This award winning restaurant always provide us good food and on time. Today our regular delivery driver Mr Mustaq brought us some complimentary Nepalese Beer with our meal.
Thank you guys for mouthwatering food.

Came in for the Sunday banquet offer (available till 5pm, despite what the sign says) and was very impressed by the quality (and quantity) of the meal. A definite cut above other Asian food we've had in the area. The service was also extremely attentive, helpful but not intrusive. A great place for a meal.

My favourite curry/nepalese takeaway. Nothing beats the freshness of the products, always a treat to tey different dishes and realize (unlike some other restaurants) they are all different and interesting.
Thank you for the great food

6 of us went to the Panas Gurkha at Lee on the Saturday. We were warmly welcomed, and the service throughout was friendly and attentive. Poppadums and chutneys arrived promptly while we made a choice from the menu - we each ordered a starter and a main, plus a vegetable dish, rice and naan, and shared. All the food was delicious, and even when a dish was quite spicy the individual flavors still shone through.

I am not a typical person to ever write a review as I am quite lazy but this restrurant is amazing!! I went there off the reviews and haven't been disappointed, now I can't stay away. Amazing service! They cannot do anymore for you. The food is delicious and well prepared with care. I would recommend this resturant to everybody. I look forward to visiting my father who lives locally to the restaurant just so I can have a takeaway. Great teamwork to all that works at Panas Gurkha X
L. N.

The restaurant have been supplying my fellow colleagues and I from Brymore House a while now and the food is very good and tasty, which helps us a lot during this pandemic as the workload has increased.
M. V.
After being loyal supporters of Babur, we've now found an equally delicious or even superior place locally; Incredibly tasty food with lovely spices used (particularly the chicken in coriander sause, samosas and daal) and surprisingly not greasy at all unlike most other take outs we've tried in the area. A real treat! Absolutely recommended
B. B.
I Order from here all the time staff are lovely and well mannerd the food is amazing and very cultural .
Panas good stuff always a pleasure 😁

Panas Gurkha on Lee High Road Lewisham: this is a great restaurant, with wonderful customer service and delicious food. The proprietor is very welcoming, and the staff are friendly and attentive without being intrusive. I’d recommend sidestepping the old reliable Indian dishes in favour of the Nepalese dishes that are this venue’s speciality. The choyola chicken was moist, delicately cooked and pleasantly fiery. The chef’s special lamb shank, on the bone, was tender and more-ish. A naan each and a side of saag aloo was, in honesty, too much food for two of us, delicious though it was. Our meal for two, with drinks and tip, came in on the right side of fifty quid. In summary: excellent service; tasty food; reasonably priced. Highly recommended.
T. R.
Really very good restaurant, ordered take away and it deserves every one of the 5 stars.
Healthy portions, good ingredients and cooked with care.
Very tasty.
M. J.
Visited with my brother (who lives local) . Fantastic food , wonderful welcome . Lovely staff that explain all you need . Loved the food so much , I came back the next day for a takeaway . Yes they do that as well !
In fact I'm writing this while enjoying a Gurkha larger, waiting for my order . Happy days !
