Reviews of Pizarro
C. B.
Outstanding birthday dinner - the service was some of the best I’ve ever experienced, incredibly attentive and helpful, as well as having fantastic food. Everything was top notch and was the perfect intimate place to spend a celebration! Would also recommend sitting at the kitchen bar when reserving, the chefs were great to watch and interact with which definitely elevated the experience.
M. L.
Top notch Jamon Iberico :-)
We enjoyed a good lunch experience. the ox cheek was well prepared and melts in your mouth.
Great wine selection as well. It went extremely well with the food.
M. C.
Absolute gem! Loved it!!
Me and my husband went there to celebrate our anniversary. The food and the vibe there was amazing!! Everything from the start to the end was perfect!! Staff are very friendly, attentive but not intrusive. They've even given us a surprise at the end for our anniversary. Totally unexpected!
The jamón was so delicate and delicious!
Would definitely go there again!!

We came for a lunch this Saturday.
We've been before to José Tapas Bar which is just a block away from Pizarro. We liked it so naturally wanted to try Pizarro Restaurant.
We definitely weren't disappointed. Food was exquisit and full of flavour, both non alcoholic and regular G&T delicious and proper Spanish style and size.
Even though it was quite busy lunch and they were clearly understaffed, team was really friendly and done fabulous job.
We've ordered a few tapas to share - all time favourites: padrón peppers, pan con tomate, boquerones con vinagre as well as quite new to me ensalada de calabaza (amazing pumpkin, orange and tarragon salad) and Fideua de sepia y gamba roja (sort of noodle version of seafood, prawn and cuttlefish paella). All very flavoursome and perfectly cooked and presented.
My biggest pleasant surprise apart from pumpkin salad was croquetas del día. They were superb, with lovely parmezan, pine nuts and spinach. Croquetas are usually not my favourite tapa but these were amazing.
I hope they keep it on the menu longer than just a day!
I would definitely recommend Pizarro Restaurant and I'm already looking forward to coming back soon 😊

Went for the £60 festive set menu with a group of friends and all the dishes were superb! Being a big fan of Spanish tapas, Pizarro offers a wonderful range of dishes (which you would not find on hour average Spanish tapas menu in London) with some I've never even tried but loved every one of them. Very high quality cooking and ingredients used (like the tomatoes) and could not really fault any dish. You get more substantially sized dishes here compared to the José Pizarro tapas bar down the road, so definitely worth coming here with a group so you can try a lot of dishes. The staff and service were fantatsic, super friendly and very knowledgeable about the food and origins if you wanted to know more. The cocktails here are also a big winner, highly recommend the Negroni Espanol!

Really nice place. One of 2 Pizarro spots on this street. Great tapas. The anchovies are so fresh. Nice to sit outside in the good weather. Small plates to share to try everything is my recommendation.
L. S.
incredible meal, excellent service and great atmosphere 💯
J. P.
Amazing, the knew it was a birthday so created a wonderful little experience for us with cheesecake, candles and champagne without us expecting or asking for anything if the sort!
Staff were Impeccable with the chefs being very interactive and offering amazing insight into the processes, we could have stayed there for hours.
Wine list was the cherry on top

Nice service, wine, tapas and starters (carrots and sourdough/olive oil were lovely). We were disappointed by the mains though, particularly the noodles with squid and prawns. Prawns were absolutely overcooked and it was nearly impossible to remove the shell and hence, to eat them and squid was fairly “sparse” in the plate. Also would be great to have a little bowl to put the bit of shells once removed and some extra napkins, especially after one “battles” so much to remove the shells…
P. C.
Amazing food and wine. Great service.
R. H.
Fantastic quality food and a charming atmosphere. However had to bring the rating down as we visited here on a Saturday night (obviously a more busy time) and we had to remind the waiters a couple of times of the orders we had placed as a couple of things were missing. When the food came it was lovely but it was slightly irritating to have to keep checking up.
C. C.
Been here many times and it has always been great!! Food service and wine are really good. It gets busy so book in advance!!
C. H.
Loving my experience a lot!!
So happy to see chef Pizarro himself was here cooking as well!
The squid balls (forgot the name) was so nice! The crisp could be slightly thicker, and the texture of the squid meat could be better (it was too soft), but I’ll still rate it a 5 ⭐️! It’s so tasty and creamy. ❤️
The mushroom rice is super nice as well. So flavorful and filling. Otherwise, I’d love to try their desserts too. 😝
Both are dishes I’ll reorder. :)
Service was 5+1 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 🌟 + 💫
S. K.
Food was exquisite! Very friendly and professional service. Lively, cool vibe.
K. W.
It’s all yummy but not exceptional.
Honestly rather disappointing considering the price. You can get similar or better food for cheaper prices from other restaurants. This one was too fishy even for me. Definitely over priced.
Jose Tapas is good enough if you want to try his foods. Don’t recommend this one.
Staffs were all nice though! Also prawn risotto was so fishy
O. S.
Mind blowing experience! We had many dishes to try and couldn't choose which one was the best! Mushroom rice with apple, squid, pickled aubergines, padron peppers, jamon and veggies dishes were divine! But even better were cheesecake and apple beetroot sorbet, it was something completely unique and very autumy! Service was top notch and greeting from head chef was an extra mile. Atmosphere was buzzing and warm, loved the decor, seating and open kitchen. Definitely will be back! ❤️

AMAZING!
The food, the service, the interior, the location, everything about this place is outstanding. We were one of the first guests of Pizarro when it first opened a few years ago and now it is still at the very top of its game.
P.S. We are vegetarians and found so much choice for us on the menu, delicious!
T. L.
Top notch Spanish cuisine from acclaimed chef José Pizarro in his beautiful Bermondsey Street restaurant. It's just around the corner from my apartment. Lovely interiors and quality food with professional service. Great for a special occasion. They had a nice veggie option, my partner enjoyed his fish dish. Save room for dessert!
S. A.
This place is truly dog friendly and has a nice vibe. Staffs are amazing. Delicious food as always, and the desserts we ordered are such a positive surprise! We had a great time here.

We have been to Pizarro several times and the restaurant and service are excellent.
The tapas was very good, with the acorn pork roast (a signature) dish was awesome - recommend this.
The wine paring was also very good.
It’s great to see the food being cooked in the open kitchen. The atmosphere was also nice, even when full still felt cosy.
The staff were also very nice, helpful to explain the different dishes and also child friendly.
Can’ recommend Pizzaro Bermondsey enough.
B.
We really enjoyed our dinner at Pizarro. Prices are a bit high, but the service and atmosphere are excellent. The dishes were a bit uneven, with the croquetas and cauliflower rice being EXCELLENT and the beef overcooked. Overall, I recommend it, especially for wine and tapas. There are some vegetarian options. The neighborhood is lovely.
B. C.
The food was good—Jose’s tapas bar is even better (104 Bermondsey Street). One thing I will say is that the service here was excellent. We got our table at 10pm and we were still treated exceptionally well. The cheese platter was quite good as well!
H. Q. L.
Good service, great food.
M. D.
It's a welcoming place but they price of some of the very average dishes, added to the claustrophobic seating (we did go during the early Xmas rush), made for a less than pleasant trip.
A. S.
I had lunch at Pizarro today and I had a great time, the waiters were amazing with my dog, they gave him treats, water and made us feel very welcome. Food was incredible and so were the drinks! Highly recommended.
A. B.
Absolutely the best Spanish restaurant in London. Amazing vibe, lovely staff and the food is sublime.
P. J.
Great restaurant serving delicious, fresh dishes with good veggie options, amazing cocktails and wine, and the staff are lovely.
I. f.
Overall food was good had not to much to do with Spanish dishes but the cooking times are perfect. I asked for the steak rare but it came medium rare. They was kind enough to ask if I wanted another. But I didn't want to cause trouble so I said was OK.
Was expecting more but 3 starts are well deserved
D. G.
Not the best I a afraid.
The food and wine are OK and the restaurant itself is very nice and comfortable, but the food is middling and over priced.
A far smaller tapas restaurant further up the road on the same, the name of which escapes me, is far better and far, far, far cheaper.
Flour and Grape and Italian restaurant is near this restaurant and I would recommend it before here I am afraid
S. K.
Great atmosphere, delicious tapas and excellent service!
A. C. C.
The food was excellent. My favourites were the octopus, the artichokes and the "chocolate pot" for dessert. Staff were very nice and attentive. For me, it was a bit loud and a bit overpriced for the amount of food served.
M. L.
Excellent food and impeccable service! My boyfriend and I came here for our anniversary dinner this evening and had the most wonderful time. Everything we ordered was exquisite, but we highly recommend the courgette, manchego and lemon salad as well as the deep chocolate ice cream with olive oil sourdough crisp when paired with the Tintilla de Rota dessert wine. The highlight of our evening, however, definitely goes to Aiste who looked after us for the evening. She is a credit to the restaurant and has the perfect balance between relaxed and attentive. She was always there when we needed her, anticipating our needs and creating a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. We could tell every dish and drink had been thoughtfully and creatively selected and we will definitely be back! Thank you for the memorable experience. Marz and James xoxo
C. B.
I love the fact that they allow dogs in. The food was very tasty, they have an extensive wine list, very attentive waiters and excellent cocktails. We tried Winter Mojito, that is basically a mojito without mint. The mint has been replaced by a cinnamon stick.
R. L.
very busy but good service throughout. beef short rib was very intense and the pork starter to die for. very good Spanish wine list and food all prepared to combine texture and.flavours. great night set will be back.
H. O.
Fantastic Spanish tapas restaurant in the heart of Bermondsey . Lovely cocktails and good staff and great atmosphere. Five stars
M. S.
If you are Spanish you must come . It is best restaurant to go to when you are home sick. Food it's exceptional. Unique wine list. Even if you aren't from Spain you have to try it at least once.
D.
Following its reputation, we decided to have lunch at Pizarro. The staff is extremely kind and welcoming, as the atmosphere of this sophisticated restaurant. Reservations are heartily recommended, either for lunch or dinner. The place was quite loud, but that's part of its general feel.
Despite the tapas being literally PERFECT, I wouldn't say the same for mains, which were slightly disappointing. Absolutely beautiful at sight, the veal I ordered was lacking salt and it was quite fatty on the inside. The vegetables were very tasty though and the presentation stunning.
I might be coming back, on a special occasion, to try some other menu entries, which looked amazing - especially the Lobster rice.
I would suggest to sit at the counter so you can enjoy the chefs creating this amazing dishes in front of you.
G. S.
The food was good, the environment great. Perhaps slightly overpriced? Definitely recommended though, I'll be back.
P. J.
Absolutely fantastic.
Classy yet not pretentious.
Food was delicious and I felt for a £100 for two meal we didn't eat any filler (I've gone all out on bread at some places haha) and left feeling absolutely satisfied.
Cannot wait to go again - the cod was my personal favourite.
Thank you
H. S. C.
Good pork. However the waiter clear my beer even though it's half poured, so guard your beer! Other than that the service is good.
J. K.
Delicious. Go for José's sharing plates (starters) and you won't go wrong. Great option for groups or more solo eating and drinking for hours at a time. Desserts were to die for 💕
L. P.
Peter the menager has been very polite and good to help me. I really suggest this place even for a quickly meal. Try the croquettes very good.

Great food. Really enjoy the 5j Jamon and pressa. Very friendly service. interesting wine list with a lot of choice available by glass.
M. Z.
Service is of high quality and the lobster risotto is very well made. Other tapas dish is less impressive but overall above average quality of food and service.
p. S. D. G.
Super nice staff and great food! Traditional Spanish tapas perfect for sharing.
A. O.
Outrageously good, amazing food and service. Good selection of wine. They know what they're doing, must try!!
N. R.
The restaurant it’s beautiful and very clean. The food very tasty ,portions are quite big and good for sharing. The staff is very friendly and either kitchen and waiters were very attentive.
W. R. (.
Do come here for excellent tapas from one of the best Spanish chefs in London. José Pizzaro has a few restaurants, and this one is reasonably large, with a great selection of classic tapas fare. We came for the tasting menu as part of the London restaurant festival, and enjoyed everything we ate, the only dip was some slightly salty mushrooms. My favourites were the pork loin and chocolate pots. Highly recommended.
S. P.
This was hard to review. The drinks were great, the staff were fantastic but the food was ok. Unfortunately, the food was a bit heavy on oil.
I love having a bit of oil on my food but most of the dishes we had it was swimming in. This made the lunch extreamily heavy and makes you feel too full.
Instead we should have stuck with fewer tapas dishes instead of a couple of mains as well as most of it went back as we could not finish.
I've still given it 4 stars as this place is obviously very skilled in spanish food, but I couldnt give 5 stars.
N. F.
If you want to try high quality Spanish food, then please visit Pizarro. Amazing atmosphere & service. Highly recommended.
M. P.
We came for a feast menu for a birthday celebration. Great food, great wine, great company. The suckling pig was perfectly cooked, and the birthday party (of foodies) heavily approved!
S. C.
Amazing pizza place that really creates something to wow the taste buds.
A little pricey but it’s worth it once you get tucked in
A. I.
We had the crab starter which was out of this world. Gin cocktail with Juniper berries to die for. Generous portions and very friendly attentive waitress. Fantastic atmosphere and dimly lit decor with a New York/Japanese feeling to it. Need I say more?
P. M.
An amazing experience. Definitely will come back. The chef was there the whole evening that makes the night even more special.
M. C.
If you like tapas/good food, this is the place to go. The service was excellent and all the staff were friendly and attentive. Every dish we had was delicious (went for most fish dishes). The decor was also lovely. A little on the pricey side, but very much worth it!
K. L.
Delicious food, great service, great ambience! Best croquetas ever!
T. L. B.
Wonderful food and friendly, welcoming staff. We chose several tapas dishes - of which the jambon croquettes and the prawn fritters were the best. We then split a spectacular lamb shoulder, which was served with a baked potato that had been stewed in a weird-looking but totally delicious green sauce. The portion size was large, so it was good value for money.
The decor was cute and it was a lovely place for a quiet date and good conversation.
S. C.
Relaxed environment and great Spanish food. Really loved the starter peppers in particular.
A. C.
I love José, but this was my second time at Pizarro and, not much differently from my first time, I was disappointed.
The ambiance is great. We sat at the window counter and loved it. The wine selection is interesting.
Sadly the food was just OK. Aside from the gorgeous pan con tomate, everything else was not as tasty or memorable as you’d expect from a place like this.
The most disappointing and annoying part was the jamón. It was carved horrendously. Thick small pieces of bellota are the way to ruin such an amazing and expensive (£24 for 60 grams) piece of cured meat.
A. M.
Back for an anniversary dinner as a first date occurred here a few years ago and Pizzaro never disappoints, the food was epic, the staff made the occasion so special, I can never go here enough
G. J.
Fantastic food with great service. Very knowledgeable staff
L. d. V. R.
Amazing place if you want to experience real Spanish food with a modern twist. Love the open kitchen concept.
Definitely going back to try the rest of the menu.
The Bacalao a la llanura was in-cre-di-ble
Y. Y.
Changed my perception about octopus as I don’t quite eat them. Lovely dishes and equally lovely service.
C. T.
Pretty much my favourite restaurant in London. Nothing more to say on that
C. F.
Great service from the bar staff. Tons of gin and tonics to choose from. Padron peppers were underwhelming, cheesy rice dish was deliciously cheesy and truffle-ly, and lamb leg was pricey but you get a whole lotta leg and some interesting sides. Had to wait a bit between courses.
K. U.
Attentive staff and nice atmosphere. Decent price for the food that you’d get. We loved the jamon iberico and peppers. However, the main dish (seafood noodles in a pan) and side cos salad were too salty for us.
N. W.
Gorgeous Spanish establishment; perfectly cooked food with simple but cleverly selected seasonal ingredients, warm wood panneling, unpretentious, non-pushy service, perfect cocktails, difficult to fault it.
L. S. S.
This place is amazeballs! Nuf said. We had a three course meal and it was all ace.
S. O.
Great service, lovely food. Busy with a buzzy atmosphere. Loved it
D. C.
Excellent and authentic Spanish restaurant (not a tapas bar! That's up the road) Small but fantastic menu, wide ranging drinks selection. Friendly and attentive staff.
C. H.
My wife and I had a fantastic Sunday roast beef and Cod and chips. Lovely food lovely people. Thoroughly recomend. Lovely country setting too.
L. P.
Lovely experience, friendly staff and amazing food.
Massive shoutout to our waiter Jubilee for his impeccable service!
We’ll definitely come back
M. K.
WOW! I just stumbled upon this place (I like to get lost) and sat down by myself, just trying a small item off the menu. Solely by coincidence I walked by their service area where I saw their pulpo. Pulpo is an absolute ‘hit & miss’ if you ask me but this specific dish turned out to taste as good as it looked. Pulpo done well is marvelous and this one definitely pleased my pallet! 👌🏼😊
P.S. Special thanks to the great staff who let me try their iberico ham after I involuntarily stared at the beautiful process of them slicing the ham for their tapas. 🙈😂
C. L.
Excellent cuisine. I definitely overordered, but I enjoyed every bite. Excellent margaritas.
E. G.
Absolutely superb - iberico pork outstanding, excellent service, great atmosphere - highly recommend!
H. M.
The only negative is that it can be easy to spend too much money for dinner here. My bill was over £100 for one. That being said, everything was very good! From the food (I ended up ordering a second round of the croquettes) to the wine (I had both the white and red rioja) to the service. This was my first visit here having been to the tapas bar down the road many times, and Imust say I do recommend it. A great relaxing dining experience
L. L.
Fantastic food. The lamb leg was unnecessarily tiny but perfect for two and rich but countered impeccably by the baked potato with magical green sauce. Best non-Basque Spanish joint in London!! 5 stars every day of the week. Very COVID compliant too, if that's your bag.
K. C.
Fantastic experience from beginning to end. Dog friendly, great service and yummy food.
K. W.
One of our favorite restaurants in London. Love the tapas and the outdoor seating!
y. z.
We loved the tapas here. A bit pricy but worth to visit.
E. M.
Without a doubt this is one of my favourite restaurants in London and the more upmarket sister of one of my other favourite restaurants, Jose's. I most recently took my mum and her friends to this restaurant, there were 6 of us in total on a Sunday evening. We got a lovely upgrade to the private room ,which was very special. We ordered an array of tapas to start, including their famous croquettes. For mains we ordered the lobster rice and the pork to share in a large portion. The lobster rice was the stand out dish for me, and I have been thinking about it for almost a month since my visit. That is always a sign on an amazing meal. The wine list is great and as is their Spanish gin selection. Their staff are lovely too and always look after me. I cannot recommend this restaurant more highly.
J. S.
Great tapas. Great wine. Fantastic atmosphere.
W. C.
Real Spanish cuisine, high quality products, expert cooking, great service but nothing so exceptional to justify the high prices. I missed a tablecloth. I don't like eating on a naked table in an expensive restaurant. Even more these days of covid, were you can add even more hygienic certainty to the proceedings by using tableclothing.
S. R.
Great tapas, great wines. It’s always better to share plates and this is a delicious place to do so.
M. C.
I happen to believe, after loads of visits, that Pizarro is the best restaurant in London, personally speaking, and Spanish food is my absolute favourite. This year I decided to book my birthday dinner at Pizarro, and they were very graceful and helpful with the booking and the meal. Impeccable service, fine dining, and a wonderful evening of sharing with friends and loved ones. A long term and forever fan of this place so long as they keep up the fab work!
L. M.
Sat at the window, but not a problem for two. Great recommendations from the staff. Had a selection of starters and then the Presa Iberica 5J for a main which was outstanding.
S.
A little pricey but very nice
S. D.
Simply the best, Jose pizarro is the Spanish version of Gordon Ramsey. The food is lovely and the sangria has a real taste of 🇪🇸
W. B.
An issue with my reservation was quickly resolved by the kind maitre d. Overpriced food that got better after the starters. Pickled aubergine dish was lovely. Ibérico pork presa was delicious, but be warned if you don't like your meat rare as that is how it is served.
P. K.
Lovely food , great service
C. T.
Awesome restaurant. Food and service top class despite being very busy. Menu has been carefully constructed to showcase best ingredients. We had beef rib and suckling pig. Both incredible, melt in your mouth and portions enormous. Great wines to pair. Recommend booking ahead.
B. D.
Great first experience. Smallish but good menu which we hear changes frequently, good selection of wines and other drinks. There was an emphasis on whisky based cocktails which wasn’t appealing to my partner but we weren’t there for that. Top notch service from everyone including our server Javier (I hope I got his name right). Friendly but not overbearing. Attention to detail was paramount. I think we prefer it to their little sister Jose just down the road. We’ll be back soon.
Our thanks to the team!
S. P.
Second meal I have eaten at Pizarro and it was excellent both times. Every single dish was interesting and delicious. Great setting and staff 👌 see you in December Pizarro!
M. C.
One of my favourite restaurants. Absolutely incredible food, great menu, wines, cocktails, and good service. Always a treat.
J. C.
We had a great food experience at Pizarro. The food and wine was excellent and the staff kind and very knowledgeable. Every question we did about the dishes, food or recommendations were perfect. Even the space looks amazing and we had our own private room. It was an excellent decision to there. Very recommendable.
C. D.
We had a lovely lazy lunch here Saturday afternoon 3pm. At this time it was quiet but plenty of staff busy finishing lunch shift or prepping for dinner so it meant there was still a good atmosphere to the place. Menu is not vegan friendly on the face of it but quite a lot of dishes can be amended (if you are happy sharing smaller dishes) Staff very helpful in that respect and in fact the service was super friendly and professional. Dog friendly was is great given it is a nice venue (kind of upscale but relaxed at the same time)
d. s.
Well decorated. Clean tidy. Staff were very helpful in explaining the menu. Had the chilli prawn fritters. Nice fresh ingredients. The main of iberico pork was amazing the potatoes, carrots and the peppers was fresh and tasty. Very much recommend. Not overly expensive, worth every penny
M. P.
Lovely food and friendly staff. We eat out quite regularly and have to say that although very nice the food is overpriced for the portion size. If money is no object you will love the food. We are not big eaters but I would allow £60 per head if you like to feel up, plus drinks. There is also a 12.5% discretionary service charge added to the bill.
S. C.
Great restaurant with a well crafted menu. Decor is beautiful and staff are very good at what they do and seem to enjoy it which is quite refreshing. We went with most of the recommended dishes and every one of them was delicious. The tomato bread is honestly to die for. They also have great G&Ts for a pre dinner drink!
T. a. A.
One of the best restaurants in London. Amazing meats and drinks, but surprisingly delicious vegetarian food. Only downside is the price which makes it a place for special occasions rather than every weekend.
C. T.
Friendly environment. Very good service. Cosy ambiance and good Spanish dishes with a twist. Good G&T list and cocktails. Located on a relatively quiet end of of Bermondsey Street. A great local venue.
C. K.
Seriously good. Not being vegetarian, I had rice with cauliflower and I was more than happy with it. Delicious. My wife had fish, which was sublime. Starters were fantastic and I had a really nice cocktail.
J. W.
Great experience. Wonderful menu and expert customer service.
E. R. H.
Amazing food and staff, incredible wine list, great place to people-watch
M. K.
Excellent sharing dishes that are full of vibrance and flavour. Only one dish we didn't like in the mains but may be down to personal preferences. Overal a bit pricey but super enjoyable atmosphere and lovely staff. Highly recommend when you're feeling flush (perhaps after a few glasses of wine down the road).
I. K.
The standard of the food wasn't bad, but underwhelming. We had the deep fried squid which arrived cold. They cooked it again and it was very pleasing. They brought the canolo in a oven hot ceramic plate without warning us. The service was very slow and made no effort to make amends, although they were apologetic. I don't recommend the salt cooked hake, but the ribs were very soft although lacked a bit of flavour.
M. H.
Overpriced, but tasted nice. The service was ok, a little slow considering how quiet it was but all the staff were nice and friendly. I ordered the lamb cutlets which tasted good, but for £29 I was underwhelmed with only getting 4 small ones and with the little amount of butternut squash I received. It was only enough to go with one cutlet. I recommend getting a side but this was not mentioned to me by the staff. For the amount we paid for dinner I shouldn't be feeling hungry, looking for food when I get home. My wife ordered the steak which was over salted and too rare. The staff did not ask her how she wanted it cooked. It also came pre-sliced, but, you know, I wouldn't trust her with a knife either. For pudding I ordered the ice cream and sorbet, and all i received was one small scoop of sorbet and and one small scoop of sorbet, all this for over £4. It was just over one mouthful of food. Not worth it at all
You might need to get a loan, but to eat here you have to get all three courses, if not you'll be ordering a kebab on the way home. All in all, food was good staff were nice, but it's not really value for money.
N. T.
Top notch croquetas and knowledge, attentive staff. Not cheap but a great special occasion place.
V. T.
Phenomenal modern take on small plates and dishes to share. Can't recommend the Iberian pork more. Service is superb as well.
M. G.
Love everything about this place! Lovely Cocktails and delicious wines. Do get the pork ordered by weight, Presa Iberico. I haven't had anything like it. Positively the best pork entree I have ever had. And the croquetas, good God. Delicious! The Bomba is yum but people may pass on croquetas for it and I believe that would be a mistake. Get both depite the similarity or just the croquetas.
L. J.
We stopped in for a quick drink before dinner and found this restaurant to be super friendly. We sat at the bar which was nice and spacious. The bartender let us try a couple of red wines to find the one we really liked. The restaurant was packed and the ambiance was buzzing.
Price: 16.31 GBP for one red wine and one glass of cava.
I will definitely come back for dinner next time.
E. T.
On my way to Pizarro I walked past Jose, the sister tapas bar to this place, which was packed to the brim! I was so glad we made a booking for Pizarro instead.
When we arrived in the evening the place only had a few guests seated but it soon filled up. The waitress was quite friendly in explaining the menu and the specials, and we were off!
Starter: We ordered the octopus, which was basically a gigantic tentacle on your plate. Very fresh and tasty.
Our party also ordered jamon and we watched them slice it at the bar, amazing to watch! It was very delicious indeed....wish I was in Spain and could stuff my face full of these!!
The highlight of the meal was the head of hake. It came in a huge oven dish and don't be deceived by the name of the dish. This could easily feed two people as it was shared between the table. The garlic oil was just right, not too greasy. The fish melted in my mouth and the potatoes were nice (but not amazing).
We also had a dish which our party said was pork but looked more like beef steak! They were all complimenting on how soft the inside was and how crunchy the outside, although I do not think it was anything too special.
Near the end of our meal a male staff came over and asked us how we were doing and even took the time to explain our dessert to us (sorry, don't remember what it was called but it was puzzling us what we were eating). This was a very nice touch.
Overall it was a nice place for gatherings and I would bring friends here to experience the head of hake!
D. F.
Good was amazing. Especially the rare pork and jamon. Sooo good.
L. H.
Nice food, but very busy. The tables were very small and it did feel like the staff try to rush your food to turn tables over quickly. As I said good food but not quality dining experience.
V. L.
A lovely restaurant, great atmosphere and service - but there is a but. We ordered the beef cheek which was good but very overpriced and was served with barely a teaspoon of sweet potato puree. We also ordered the courgette flower which again was good but the portion was far too small for the price they were charging for it.
M. K.
Great food and wide range of wines. Absolutely fantastic service. I am vegetarian and it is not a place dedicated for me but enjoyed the atmosphere wine and salad
S. S.
Sister restaurant to the incredible Jose tapas bar on Bermondsey Street. Pizarro was the same quality but you can make reservations and its not impossible to get a table like it can be with Jose at busy times. Great stuff. Love it.
B. B. K. C.
The steak was amazingly but simply done
S. Y.
Fantastic atmosphere with amazing food. We had a brilliant evening here!
J. H.
Absolutely amazing food and drinks, and to top it all the best service and atmosphere, we just love Pizzaro’s. We had dinner there on Saturday and yet again everything was truly great. We received a very warm welcome from Javier who is fantastic at looking after Pizzaro’s guests, and had the best service from Peter and Kayakin. The food was so delicious, the Torrija dessert was unbelievably scrumptious - one of us is not a dessert person, who (not having ordered it!) ate most of it. We’re going back very soon for more, something we’re so looking forward to. Thank you very much to all at Pizzaro’s for your outstanding everything and see you very soon. Joan & Nigel
M. W.
This is the place to go to if you like your pork pink and rare.
M. P.
Probably the best Spanish food I had in London, the waiters (all Spanish or Italian) will give you a friendly and attentive service, the kitchen is open space and chefs are all wearing masks , can't wait to be back
D. D.
Versatile and stylish ... Good combination of ambience and food
J.
Great place, good gin and tonic list. Good service and very consistent as I come here at least once a week. Beef short rib was a bit too small to share between 4, rolled chicken cannelloni was ok, wouldn’t order it again. Barbazul tinto wine was delicious.
D. V.
The restaurant has a really good interior design, the staff is also polite and friendly.
Food was great but the prices are too expensive for the plates you get. A piece of cod (around 100gr) can't costs 19 pounds.
M. D.
I had never had Spanish food before and this place made me realize I've been missing out! These guys are the nicest people and they whip up the most delicious yet simple dishes. The shrimp in their camarones al ajillo are so perfectly cooked they taste like baby lobsters. Also the preso iberico pork is out of this world. You gotta try this place!
X. S. P.
The staff in this place were lovely and fun, however the food left us feeling like it was not quite the real deal. The portions are ok but just not tasty enough, they all seemed to miss something... Price wise this place is on the expensive side, with fairly expensive dishes and drinks which makes you wonder what's the big fuss about...
M. D.
This place is a pearl. My request, when we arrived, was "bring is a nice Rioja and keep bringing tapas until we get tired."
This restaurant was absolutely fantastic...it did not disappoint. The quality, the flavors, the variety..it was all superlative
Thanks, Pizarro, for a great experience!
B. V.
Cool Spanish restaurant. Great atmosphere if you go in groups. Love those round banquette sitting perfect for family of 4. Portion is a bit on the small side and main courses are expensive.
O. O.
This place has some amazing tapas, it is quite small so great for lunch or quick dinner, unfortunately no sangria !! but if you like Spanish food, this is a must, and relatively well priced dishes.
R. S.
They have broken away from the standard tapas and are providing a Spanish experience with a creative twist. Lots of goodness going on at this restaurant. From the small plates to our mains - everything was very good.
S. B.
Delicious tapas and fast efficient service. My only issue is the prices, which are really high for this type of food. Would recommend for someone not super hungry.
H. T.
Reasonable simple Spanish fare cooked and prepared to a good standard. Had the chorizo, pork belly, octopus, and beef cheek which was all nicely prepared. Id probably skip the cheek next time, while nice it was a fair standard affair in terms of flavour and originality.
Nothing to me stood out as being amazing, but certainly a good option around Bermondsey.
V. B.
Pretty average overall. Went there for dinner and was unimpressed. Mains portions varied greatly from dish to dish. The fish my friend had was very small and the salad that came with it just as small.
Won’t be rushing back.
A. R.
Excellent service, very good food. Fisher dishes were delicious packed with flavours and the tapas selection was really nice. Some credit to the wine list too.
V. F.
This restaurant was is my list To Go for months as i went already a few times to the version tapas, Jose. Unfortunately I was expecting much more! Is a "OK", not more than that. The starters are good but the prawns with tomato sauce had no salt, which made the acidity of tomato comes up. For main I had the presa iberica which was absolutely fantastic but it came with 3or4 completely died potatoes, dried, without any life and with pimentos padron which were overcooked. To finish a whisky tart with 5 times more cream and you even notice the whisky on the cream. I can't say was bad but for 150£ 2Pax I definetly waited for much more!
M. K.
Perhaps my expectations were too high when Zagat listed this place as currently one of the top brunch spots in London. Although the decor is welcoming and warm, service was lacking. Our order was messed up and the food then took a long time to be served. The portions were also very overpriced. Over-rated to be honest.
K. M.
Cosy and relaxed Spanish restaurant with excellent service. You can treat it as tapas if you want or eat full dishes, which are perfectly (pro?)portioned. The choice of wines is excellent, and almost all can be served in 250ml carafes, which makes it easy to share and try many wines, along with an extensive choice of sheries. I was pleasantly full and lightly pickled in brandy by the end, and my wallet had not suffered badly.
M. J.
Pizarro was a very nice restaurant on Bermondsey St. The staff was great, the food was amazing, and the wine was even better! Bit on the pricey side, especially for a whole meal, but it is nice to go for a drink or an appetizer. There is also a smaller bar owned by the same person down the street from Pizarro which is better for a casual drink.
R. F.
Probably the 3rd best Spanish in town. Pizarro changes the menu daily and although there are not that many options everything is executed to perfection. Great wine range as well but if you fancy some more of an informal atmosphere head to Jose, their sister restaurant, just around the corner.
T. S.
Modern Spanish cuisine, very flavoursome and diverse. Recipes are interesting and different to many other places I've eaten. A little pricey but good for occasions
T. T.
This is the best restaurent on Bermondsey st and I would also say it's always great experience. Was persnoally served by Jose himself, and even before having an issue with the beef cheeks (which is normally perfect) he knew what was going on and explained why this sometimes happens. His next portion was again up to his amazing standards. The wine selection is also fantastic. Love this place!
R. D.
Still just a great restaurant. Service impeccable; food delicious; buzzy room; good wine list (though mark ups vary from very reasonable to pretty ambitious - pays to research.)
R. C.
good and accomplished food but not good enough to justify the high price. coupled that with polite but ultimately terrible service, I would not return.
had to constantly chase up food and it was extremely frustrating because we didn't have long. 30 minutes for croquetas to arrive! after chasing twice.15 minutes for 2 gin and tonics. ridiculous.
I. C. L.
I'm Spanish & let me tell you this place is great. The smell, texture and taste of the food is spot on and takes me back to being home. Whilst it is a little on the expensive side it's definitely worth going at least once!
A. J.
Food was delicious but very rich and portions were too large given how rich it was. Spanish wine list amazing
M. W.
Extreme lovely places to have a meal, the service is great, waiters that enjoy doing their job. Food that looks, tastes and makes you feel full.
E. S.
We always love our time at Pizarro.
W. S.
Exzellent Service, Fine food, Tasty Drinks
g. n.
Nice ambience but service rather amateurish and food far from memorable. Below expectations.
S. B.
The pork was some of the best I have ever had. The service was outstanding, a special thank you to Alessandra for treating us so well.
J. M.
Great service and really good food. Its not exceptional or extravagant but good value, comfortable setting and lovely location in Bermondsey
L. F. A.
I was sad when Bermondsey Kitchen closed down a few years ago as it was one of my favourite restaurants in London. But I'm glad to see that it's replacement is actually a fantastic one. Food was spot-on and I like they was that the room was designed to accommodate all sorts of groups and individuals. I will definitely go back for more.
R. B.
We went here after going to Jose Pizarro's other restaurant down the road, Jose. We absolutely loved Pizarro. I would describe it as more of a sit down restaurant compared to Jose. Slightly more formal dining, but not really, only in the sense that you might order a starter and main unlike Jose where it is all tapas style.
The atmosphere is great and so was the food, it is more expensive than Jose but worth the money! Go here with friends for a special occasion.
R. S.
The food was really good (hake and quail) and the staff kind and helpful. Good atmosphere. Bit expensive, but worth it (otherwise you may want to go further into Bermondsey St and see if you can eat at José).
D. H.
A great location, slightly different feel post-Covid, lovely food and atmosphere.
M. R.
Been here a couple of times now, and every time it's been a pleasure. Food has always been good, the wine and sherry recommendations excellent.
The waiters and Jose himself are very attentive. They're not all over you, but do notice very quickly when you need their attention. As an example, when we went over one night and came in early, they'd pushed the airco a little in anticipation of the crowds coming. When Jose saw my girlfriend putting something over her shoulder, he came over to apologise and tell us he'd switched off the airco in the mean time. We didn't have to ask, nor complain...
M. M.
Great space, nice views and big tables. Can be loud, but I don't mind that. Food is GODLIKE. obviously the Spanish is great, but even the coffee and OJ is some of the best on the street.
D. M. V. N.
Superb Spanish food. Every dish on the menu is excellent. Great wines and seafood.
A perfect place to impress your date or to have an intimate celebration.
S. J.
Nice place for food and drink, bit pricey for what you get, should include sides with a main .
D. H.
Had an really lovely lazy long lunch here, would thoroughly recommend
C. F.
The service and the atmosphere are always top standard and the food is always delicious and really well presented. I highly recommend it to anyone with a exquisite taste and high expectations and they will never been disappointed...
J. M.
The whole experience was wonderful. The staff were really friendly and efficient, the food was delicious and Jose was the host with the most. We will definitely be returning!
C. M.
Love love love Pizarro. For me the best spanish restaurant... Excellent food, friendly waiters. Located also in a very and fashionable street in London, bermondsey street
where after lunch you can walk around and have a coffee or visit the White Box Gallery, an excellent option to spent the afternoon
B. C.
Great food and ambience. Daily selection of tapas, all of which are really good. The specials never disappoint. Reasonable selection of wines
L. P.
José Pizarro’s first upscale venture. You can still quite happily sit in the window with a beer and munch delicious tapas, charcuterie and pan catalan with friends to your heart’s content. But if you’d prefer a more sit-down meal, there’s plenty to choose from and a decent wine list.
The smaller José two blocks over is equally great - louder, buzzier and more of a classic tapas operation, so choose to suit your food, mood and company.
W. L.
Yet another amazing restaurant along Bermondsey Street. It is quite similar to Jose further up the street but with proper seating! Great service and menu offered. This place gets very busy!
B. R.
I'd head to José, just up the road instead. This is its sister restaurant (both named after José Pizarro, the owner), and is more formal sit-down than the 'tapas joint' up the road. Clearer, more formal, and mostly less fun. The food is great, but the atmosphere isn't quite there.
P. K.
Excellent food and warm, friendly staff.
G. K.
Excellent food and excellent service. The small plates menu is small but delicious.
K. T.
Absolutely fantastic service.
Great food and wide range of wines, enjoyed the atmosphere wine and salad x
J. A.
Very good food although a bit pricey. Service was also excellent and amongst the best Spanish in South London.
M. B.
Love the food. Didn't have a reservation but the maitre d' found room for us. The waitress was fantastic
J. K.
Whole leg of lamb, real lamb gambolling in spring and not all those just under mutton described as lamb. Iberico real. Do not take vego friends or animal rights ott sorts
S. E. I.
Worm and welcomy stuff , very good wine. I had higher expectations from the food but still very tasty dishes.
p.
I haven't buy anything, but cycling around and lovely lady waitress refilled my water bottle and still treat as the best customer
t. e.
Great first-time dining experience - and great to see the owner on the premises supervising the kitchen and wait staff. Thank you!
A. H.
Food was overall delicious. Value for money is questionable though.
T. P.
Third time there and it only gets better. Creative menus, amazing taste and fantastic service. It is slightly pricier, but well worth it!
A.
One of the must go to Spanish restaurants in UK. A real favourite for real fresh food with wonderful wines and lovely service team. Muchas Gracias Jose and the team😘🍷🥂☀️🇪🇸
D. C.
Not all the tapas bar in London have the same quality and probably Pizarro is the best one, in terms of sofistication and recipes.Good quality wines and please, just try the lamb , is awesome! near is the small tapas named Jose that worth a visit, even for a small tapa of croquetas.
C. U.
Nice interior, great hospitality, an interesting selection of wine, and the food is excellent. Well portioned sizes, reasonably priced for the quality of food on offer.
J. V. R.
Pizarro is one of the Spanish food’s Ambassador in London over the years. Good food, can walk from there to the small tapas bar José too, same street.
L. M.
Very kind waitresses and nice place
D. C.
Feel like being in Spain! Top quality food and great wines. Nice service staff, friendly and knowledgeable.
L. V.
Upon reading reviews I expected the food to be better however it was just average. However the service was great and decor/ atmosphere was nice.
M. W.
Great food and reasonable value for money, always had good service. They are the city restaurant to Jose also on Bermondsey Street.
D. H. M. E.
Wonderfully simple wholesome food. They don’t just let the ingredients do the talking at Pizarro... they make them sing.
T. M.
Solid but didn't love it. Some of the food was great but some a bit hit and miss - given pricing point this is a bit of an issue. Atmosphere and room nice. Service is friendly and fun but a touch haphazard.
I. F. G.
Pizarro is one of the best spanish restaurants in London. As soon as you enter in the restaurant you can feel you are in Zamora or so. Really amazing food and really frien dly staff working there. Try their iberico ham and their croquetas. Nothing compares.
S. D.
Good food, good staff. 👍
A. D.
Worth waiting for. We came back at 9:15 pm as that was the earliest we could get on a Friday and it was not a disappointment, I would recommend the starters especially as they were all so difficult to choose from and I will come back for more!
C. R.
Great authentic food and drinks with service to match. Love sitting by the window and people-watch. Best enjoyed outside peak times.
A. V.
Best quality products. Classic Spanish food with a contemporary touch. Great selection of wines and gins.
J. T.
Excellent food. Unfortunately, the chaotic service did cost them 1 star. But I am willing to give them a second chance when I come back soon.
V. M.
First visit here. We really liked it. Food was good. Saturday lunchtime but atmosphere was good and relaxed.
P. L.
Superb food everything from the selection of picky starters through to the main meals and desserts with a fine selection of drinks to match. Well worth a visit.
K. M.
One of my favourite places in London - sit in quiet contemplation and watch the world go by with a giant G&T or the private dining room is perfect for parties. Food and service faultless.
J. L.
One of the best! Always an absolute pleasure to eat her, lunch or dinner. Food is breathtaking and the atmosphere and friendly team make it!
H. L.
Excellent wine and food
C. C.
Amazing food! One of the best spanish Tapas in London. Expensive though if you go in hungry.
M. B.
Excellent sharing food and extensive gin and wine menu. Smart casual restaurant with Spanish waiting staff
j. c.
Pizarro is located in bermondsey street, i had been going there since opened, great spanish food, the chef is jose pizarro, the results he has achieved over the years is bacause of the diverse range of natural ingredients.
highly recomended.
T. G.
Fantastic in all respects this place; food, service and atmosphere - I hope it continues to prosper!
H. F.
Amazing as always. Pressed iberico pork was sensational
S. F.
A substantial cut above most London tapas restaurants, with interestingly different dishes on a menu that avoids most of the well-known staples. More original vegetarian dishes than most, those these are not numerous.
M. M.
Food 10/10
Staff 10/10
Service 10/10
Atmosphere 10/10
Spanish-ness 10/10
Will we be going back? 100%

C. J.
Great experience. My lovely Grandson took me there for lunch. We Had the tapas and it was great!
E. C.
Exceptional food. Creative ways to serve traditional dishes. The flavors are out of this world.
Awesome service.
P. O.
Eaten here twice recently - very buzzy, friendly, professional staff and the food was scrumptious on both occasions - expect to wait even if you've got a reservation.
D. S.
We love this restaurant. Informal and sophisticated in the heart of south London
Excellent service too
I. L.
Fantastic Spanish food and wine but a bit privet. Great atmosphere and service however
L. M.
Delicious food and wine. Great staff. Knowledgeable about the food and wine.
A. K.
Great service but no that impressed with the food. Had lamb which had a weird aftertaste and ribs which were pretty good, but nothing outstanding.
F. S.
Fabulous pork. Definitely worth a detour or a date in the diary. Not the cheapest though and worth it.
J. v. d. C.
Great pizza, surprisingly low price (especially for London). Their home made lemonade is divine, too.
D. X.
Excellent spanish place, the food is amazing, fresh, tasty, well seasoned...etc Staff is very friendly and the whole atmosphere is great.
M. G.
The Torrija dessert was magnificent.
T. Q.
Tasty, but a bit on the pricey side (£6 for a very small plate of padron peppers). The Bomba is excellent though.

Food:Fresh ingredients, exceptionally well cooked, impeccably balanced flavours. The wine was well matched & could be enjoyed by the carafe in most instances.
The decor was brilliant. I was a bit reticent to sit at the bar (which overlooks the restaurant in which Jose does his work) but the vibe in the kitchen was laid back and it gave our meal added spice to observe the artistry of its preparation.
The service was genuinely exceptional. I'd hadn't noticed that our starter was taking time when Jose himself apologised personally and then served it to us himself as soon as it was prepared. The same attentiveness was demonstrated by the boss when our water ran a bit low. Finally when we ordered our desert & sweet wine in divided courses we noticed that Jose personally indicated to his sous-chef when we had finished the cheese so she could start with the (to-die-for) chocolate mousse. As I placed down my glass after the last glass of Bojandillo it was replaced by a delicious Jerez.
Brilliant!

Simply wonderful
