Reviews of Prawn on the Lawn

My birthday lunch 🎂 had a lovely table served by Tilly so polite professional and knowledgeable. Tilly called at 12noon to confirm my online booking and told me not to worry if I was a bit late travelling from Essex. Nearest station is Highbury and Islington Cross over turn to the right follow the road less than 3mins...very warm welcome I love the fact the menu is never the same each day as fresh seafood gets delivered each day and then the menu is created. The Head Chef Patri was serving front of house showing her flexibility and how good her kitchen team Gigi and Basil are superb chefs. A great leader is one that can step away from the kitchen and it runs like clockwork.. A small cosy well managed restaurant with awesome seafood friendly staff, clean, felt very safe with their social distancing. The food was delicious hot well explained by serving staff great upselling and served quickly. Definately a place to visit and book inadvance ...I loved the fact during the pandemic the company retained all their staff which shows what great employers they are ..no staff shortages in this establishment.. well done 👏

Been past this place enough times so was high time we tried it out. Sunday lunch was busy but still space to fit us in. Very good food, the oysters in particular. The tuna wasn't all that but the rest of our little plates did us nicely. Nice wines and our good waitress knew them well.

4.5 stars. Get in with crackingly good food. Minus 1/2 star for the price - why is London so expensive!
Enjoyed a Cornish negroni and some oysters to start. Then had the wild sea bass classically cooked with lemon, garlic and thyme with a plate of greens and spiced potatoes. Awesome... Simply awesome. Great produce cooked really well.
Seating is a bit tight but fine. Best off booking as not many seats available. If you are a no show they will charge you which is fair enough.
£150 for 2. Ouch but better for the experience.

Delicious seafood restaurant. Great atmosphere and attentive staff. Had the sharing plates, 4 was plenty for 2, with 2 sides. Next time I'll try the crab or lobster. Highly recommend!
A.
Outstanding seafood restaurant, small plates with menu constantly changing. Haven’t had a bad meal here. Is a bit pricey but worth it, wine is great too - recommend treating yourself to a slow lunch here 😋
C. G.
Ate here for the first time. We sat and watched all the yummy food being prepared, which allowed us to indulge in ordering additional dishes. My fish was cooked perfectly. Everything was delicious 😋
K. C.
A local favourite. Great selection of tasty dishes (we stuck with small plates including oysters and tuna tartare) and the wine was super too. Lovely wee place!
J. w.
Absolutely brilliant place to spend a Sunday afternoon. Fresh tasty small plates and some excellent daily specials of whole fish. Wine is also well priced
Q. W.
Amazingly fresh and delicious seafood. Will definitely come back soon! Staff were lovely and friendly too.
X. K.
Really tasty seafood dishes and friendly service but quite expensive for me to recommend...
C. S. L.
Ate here for the first time and had the pleasure of sitting on the bar stools where we could watch all the food being prepared and cooked. Each dish was delicious….. we ordered more as we kept watching food come out. Service was excellent. Definitely going back here
Y. L.
Great seafood restaurant on a lovely street. We have five people and ordered all small plates on the menu. Every plate is so tasty. Seafood is fresh with perfect seasoning. Highly recommend prawn on the lawn and crushed spiced potatoes. Btw, tote bags and T-shirts are lovely with the brand of this restaurant on them.
I. B.
Amazing fish and oysters, big shout out for the chef.
As the food is amazing the price isn't the lowest either but definitely worth it for a fab night out, celebration or even a cute date.
Staff is very friendly, great wine selection on the menu and relaxed atmosphere with a nice playlist in the background.
Haven't tried the cocktails but having a sneak peak over to other tables, they looked delicious as well.
W. P.
Honestly absolutely loved my dinner and evening here. The food was AMAZING, plus the women in there working were so nice and accommodating. We had all the small plates, wine and cocktails and I can’t stop thinking about the food! I can’t wait to come back and eat more!
V. C.
One of the best seafood restaurants I’ve ever been to!
D. W.
Loved it here, don't often go to fish restaurants as I don't eat shellfish but it was work dept Xmas meal. Staff very helpful lots of choice and they will talk you through the options and make recommendations of which fish might best be served which way, which is helpful if you are trying a fish you are not familiar with. Gurnard in a Chinese style was yummy.

Shame I can't give this place 6 stars, because they more then deserve it.
Small restaurant, with a big atmosphere.
The service is excellent and matches the top quality food.
The food is both beautiful to look at and incredibly tasty as well. It's similar to a tapas style approach, so there's plenty of variety to share.
They have a very good range of wines sure to match your tastes.
Prices are affordable and not overpriced.
Fantastic for date nights or small groups. Alternatively if you'd like a larger group, they have a downstairs room to cater for just such a party.
Highly recommended that you visit, I would suggest booking ahead as it is always busy.
K. P.
Tapas with an unexpected delightful twist. Every single dish we had was so delicious. Could not fault it at all. Even the staff were so lovely and friendly. Will definitely be returning!
A. s.
Great place with delicious see food and very friendly staff. We booked the table for 6pm, went there a like 25 min early, there was no problem to sit as down as there wasn’t busy at that time. Literally in next 45 min the place was packed. All tables are fool and the seats at the bar all taken. Food was prepared to perfection, we had tuna, king prawns (they were not on the menu board but they had them in stock and the chef prepared them for us). We had few other dishes but can’t remember what was that exactly as that was few weeks ago but there is one thing I remember very well, desert. Wow, what a treat. Please see the picture. Heaven.
S. F.
Absolutely fabulous. We had a wedding party there for 16. The food was absolutely amazing, service was excellent. Wonderful afternoon. Thank you all so much ❤
C. R.
Incredible seafood. Everything we had was amazing (oysters, scallops, hake, cevice... even the dessert). Great place for a date night
A. E. B.
Looks trendy place, nice music, welcoming staff, specially Sameera, who was all smiles and everything was easy for her to please customers. Food was fresh , although in small portions , but very tasty, prices are normal for London, not very expensive. The pannacotta dessert is really exceptional. Well done. Will come again. Ambiance really good.
Thank you

Lovely fresh seafood. Cosy place. The staff was super nice. Menu changes often. No brainer for fresh tasty seafood
U. S.
I loved the place. Very fresh seafood. Service was friendly and attentive. Flavours were nicely balanced. We had the Sichuan prawns which had delicious barbeque flavour and perfectly cooked, but there wasn't anything Sichuan about it. Also the crushed spicy potatoes which were deliciously crunchy roasted spuds, but nothing spicy about it. Then for the mains we had a whole sea bass which was filleted to be cooked in 3 flavours - lemon, Thai with loads of coriander and Chinese with pickled carrots. The latter 2 were mouth watering. I'll come back for just them. Looking forward to trying more.
Recommendation from a lady in Abu Dhabi

Compact local restaurant with an inventive menu of small plates, ideal for sharing. Speaking of which the restaurant/bar shares its space with a daytime fishmongers. Fish-based menu, fusion of traditional/plain with Thai and Chinese dishes and sauces. Sit at the bar and wonder at how the meals are prepared in such a small space. Service can be a bit haphazard, but super friendly. Well-shaped wine list at reasonable prices, plus a star cocktail, the 'Cornish negroni' - 11/10. Strong and tasty. There's a private dining room in the basement but tbh the buzz of the ground floor is the main attraction.
R. G.
Perfectly balanced, in flavour and texture. Simple ingredients prepared into incredible seafood tapas dishes. intimate, open kitchen characterful staff. Each dish was unique and paired back to the point of balance rather than competing flavours. The signature dish - prawns on guacamole on toast was garnished with micro coriander. The seared tuna just melted as it should and the sweet soy marinade not too strong to overpower the tuna. A surprise favourite cos lettuce with truffle oil and parmesan was peeled apart and recreated into the bowl. Thai mussels were cooked to perfection... still delicate but cooked was on a secret bonus salad of mint, lemongrass and thai basil each of which complimented the thai base. The crab dish was a little plain but then crab is often like that for me, it had a new ingredient for me - Mooli which was like shaved radish. The Buratta was fresh and the anchovies and almonds crunchy. Last but by no means least, the scallops and nduja were like a next level oyster hit, served in shell. Wow. Had dessert not cause I wanted to but because I didnt want it to end. Affogato - ice cream with sherry on top. Delicious end to a special meal. Cant wait to go back and try the dishes I missed. Make sure you book in advance on the weekend...
C. S.
Overall: unfortunately the food was underwhelming for the price we paid (60gbp per person). We had all the small dishes that evening and were disappointed about the lack of garnish.
Food: apart from the scallops in Thai marinade, none of the small dishes stood out in terms of flavour and originality. I was particularly underwhelmed by the prawn on the lawn (which is essentially prawns on avocado on toast).
Service: great service, all the waiter were very friendly and accommodating (dairy intolerance).
Atmosphere: nice intimate venue.
T. T.
The best stop for fresh fish in Islington!Unbelievable bloody Mary’s too.
J. S.
Vibrant tastes of creative seafood dishes.
Really enjoyed prawns and scallops and some fish.
M. R.
Excellent food, great tastes, fantastically fresh! Came across prawn on the lawn while looking for a fishmongers, menu looked very good so we decided to stop for lunch and very very glad I did. Menu is based on what's best and fresh in their stock so changes often and consisted of a variety of small fish dishes to share. We had some great tastes alongside squid and sprouting brocolli with sesame and soy , crab tom sam salad, prawns and avacado and some amazing thai scallops and picked up a bag of mussels on the way out from the fish counter. I will definitely be back and will update accordingly! ( Also do cocktails, fishmongers and cocktails, what more do you want).
T. S.
Ok - a lot of money for small dishes, you'd probably do alright ordering a small dish each, side dish each, and the fruits de mer (between four people). We ordered nearly 8 small plates and a few sides and left hungry still with a £200 tab! Some of the small dishes lacking in flavour too. Good service though & good atmosphere
D. L.
Really delicious food. We got 4 small fish plates (tuna, prawn wonton, red mullet and mackerel) and one of each sides. And despite how much food we had it was a very light lunch.
V. H.
Excellent fresh produce tapas style fish delicious highly recommend. First class service staff knowledgeable helpful highly recommended it’s a gem
S. B.
Freshest fish in London, always perfectly cooked. Lovely crew, fun atmosphere, good value for such excellent food.
D. A.
We had lunch at Prawn On The Lawn today. Service was wonderful, friendly attentive and could’ve fault it. We had oysters to start which were very fresh and we loved them. The dishes that came after... Not mind blowing. The crab salad lacked sharpness. The flavours were boring. The Sole dish was ok, the salsa verde was the hero though. The Gem Lettuce with Parmesan was drowned in truffle oil- yuck. The last dish was squid which we sent back as it was rubbery and overpowered with a very peppery sauce that left me tasting nothing else. A few hours later and l’m not feeling very well, not the way you want to feel after a nice lunch out. I really wanted to like this place as there were many positives but unfortunately we wouldn’t race back.
M. D.
Most dishes were great. A couple were a little too much for the fish. Crab salad was really good.
This is a tapas style restaurant, so small dishes to share. If you want lobster you should let them know as they have limited number.
d. e.
Delicious seafood and decent ambiance. Suitable for small celebrations. Music choices could be better though.
E. C.
Had a really great lunch here. The staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious! The sichuan prawns and crushed potatoes were the highlights- so much flavour! The seafood was really fresh, loved the deep fried oysters and scallops. I had been hoping there would be some crab or lobster on the menu, but it didn't matter in the end because my expectations were exceeded.
J. K.
They have a great assortment of seafood; oysters, jumbo prawns, crab, mussels, John dory, monk fish, tuna etc and the food is delicious, however, it can get pricey!
G. G.
Fantastic all round experience. Oysters, prawns and fish are tasty and good.
H. N.
Absolutely a lovely place to try out different seafood dishes. Incredible flavours.
J. B.
Daniela organised the most wonderful ‘finish at home’ menu for my daughters special birthday.
Daniela could not have been more helpful, her menu suggestions were perfect and the food was just incredible, all prepped and ready to collect when requested. Beautiful wine and reasonably priced too. cannot recommend highly enough!
C. O.
The food was pretty good, but the portions are extremely small for the price. Overall a good experience.
B. A.
The best place I’ve been to in London for fresh seafood. We have the salmon ceviche, Sichuan prawns, monkfish, taramaslata and sourdough bread. The staff is super friendly and helpful when choosing (because everything sound amazing). Really lovely time!
F. D.
Staff very friendly, food delicious 😋
L. Z.
Excellent seafood menu and services, 6-7 small plates for less than 80 quid which is decent, would visit again
K. R.
The best seafood I have had in London. Fave was the tuna!
N. R.
What a fantastic evening! Prawn on the lawn/farm was thoroughly enjoyable. All the dishes we tried were superb! The fresh raw oysters...o my days! Yea the prices are on the upper scale but it’s well worth it. A perfect end to a great (albeit short) UK break. Thanks guys!
O. A.
A romantic candlelit atmosphere, fresh fish, friendly professional knowledgeable service, good choice of seafood, tapas style small plates and sharing plates by weight.
S. P.
Had such a nice dinner here just after it opened post lockdown. The fish was so fresh and expertly cooked, well worth over ordering! Not the cheapest but you pay for what you get with seafood of this standard. Service was really friendly and they timed all of the different plates arriving really well.
L. W.
We both love shellfish and wanted to go somewhere weve not been to before. Having recently got my wife into Oysters, I wanted a restauarant that not only served Oysters, but also Crab, Lobster, Mussels, Scallops etc. I looked at a few in the London area, but was also looking for something more casual than the stuffy upmarket Mayfair eateries. Prawn on the Lawn caught my eye initially as I read that they also had a restaurant in Padstow Cornwall and that is a well know area for fresh Shellfish and Fish. I booked it for 8.15pm and was told that we could only have 2 x bar seats, if im honest, having sat there, I much prefer to sit and watch the open kitchen prepare the delicious dishes than sit at a table for two! Our server Shania (Sha-Ny-Ya) was informative and friendly and explained the dishes and different types of Oysters on offer. We had a selection of Carlingford and Maldon Oysters to start that were superb, Prawn on the lawn (Sourdough Toast, Advocado and Prawns) then followed by our main course of Fruit de Mare, which was a huge platter of Dorset Crab, Prawns, Mussels, Cockles, Razor Clam, Scallops etc. The staff were very friendly, the food superb and I for one will definately be back, Highly recommend this low key casual shellfish restauarant.
E.
Great first class dining experience on the farm!!! Dishes all amazing including the puddings. Drinks selection perfect too.
I would give 5 stars but for your awful practice of adding a charge to the bill for a charity. Wrong on every level. Your customers go to your restaurant to eat and drink and that is what you should charge them for. Giving to charity is a personal matter and many of your customers, like myself, already give regularly to chosen charities. Instead you should do something yourself to promote the charity or get your staff to do sponsored fundraising. Don't charge the customer without asking. Stop it.

Lovely food and great service. Really good vibe and buzz in the room. Food is exceptional. Today's favourite was a piece of hake, with feta and basil, mint and pine nuts. Recommended!
C. M.
Very tasty food. Seafood is fresh and the small plates menu had a nice variety of dishes with Thai, Chinese and classic French variations.
Particular highlights were the deep fried oysters, crushed spiced potatoes (a surprisingly tasty side dish) and seared tuna.
Service was lovely. The style of food is clearly upmarket and so is the price, £7-9 per small fish dish (approx). However, if you're looking to impress, or just splash out, you won't be disappointed.
S. O.
Beautiful little restaurant, incredibly small and cosy. It's reasonably priced, though not particularly cheap. There are a great few wines. Service is prompt and friendly. We ordered a selection of small plates, then shared the seafood stew. All were delicious and I'd definitely go back. Top notch.
P. D.
Incredible seafood, lovely staff, banging lunch ❤️
M. S.
I had a delicious seafood stew. Really enjoyed it.
R. d. A.
Pleasant ambience, pleasant staff, pleasant food. Food didn't blow us away, which is a shame considering the price. Most dishes are small, which is absolutely fine as it's tapas style, but each dish is fairly pricey and we only needed 4 dishes between two of us rather than the 3-4 per person that was recommended. Lovely place for a meal on a date.
J. M.
Incredible, a real food experience.
It's a very small and intimate setting which is lovely but there's a bustling ambience. One of my clients who lives locally tells me it's the best fishmongers and as we were dining several people came in to buy there fish.
The staff here are all passionate and knowledgable about the food and its provenance.
We tried as much as we could from the menu, but there's still so much more we want to go back and try including the shellfish platter.
I was amazed that they don't have a full kitchen to serve hot food, which makes the whole experience even more amazing, but we really enjoyed the hot fish stew.
T. P.
Cracking seafood in a small and cozy space. We were seated on stools at a bar, which is surely the less comfortable way to eat. The small plates are ordered like tapas, with several to share at the table, which is great, not too expensive, and a second reason why a tiny eating space doesn't quite work.
The food is really good, with very varied seafood dishes, several with an easy Asian theme (Thai scallops, cod tempura, sashimi salmon). The wine list looked great although I only had one glass so can't say much more.
L. H.
Love this restaurant! We've been meaning to go for ages and we finally went last night. The food is delicious and the atmosphere and the staff so lovely and casual and friendly! We'll definitely be going back for our next crustacean fix. The mussel starter was amazeballs!!! As was the padstow brown crab and shellfish stew!!
Q. T.
How refreshing to be able to discuss what you are choosing to eat with staff who are genuinely interested! Great very fresh and imaginatively cooked seafood. Good wine and beer list lovely surrounds. And without spoiling the moment you will enjoy washing your hands in the lovely toilets basins!
F. H.
Delicious, fresh seafood. Quality ingredients and the food is well-presented. We had a selection of small plates and everything was so good. Great cocktails too plus the service is attentive and quick.
F. J.
Great variety of fresh fish and seafood options, usually going for a oriental-mediterranean type of seasoning (think curry, pesto, coriander, mint, etc).
The namesake dish, a toast with avocado, prawns, and herbs, was particularly tasty. I also enjoyed the hake with pine nuts and feta. There is also a good selection of wines by the glass.
The dishes are relatively inexpensive, but quite small, so the cost for a full meal adds up (~£30/person).
N. S.
Friendly and flexible staff. They were able to adjust one of their items for our finicky children. Excellent fish. Unusual but very good menu. Nice selection of wines. It helped me feel a little less homesick for Newfoundland ... alas, no proper lobster but that isn't possible on this side of the pond. I need to book those tickets for Nova Scotia now. Ciao!
r. r.
Amazing unique & tasty dishes. Scallops with tarragon & the signature prawn on the dishes being the most memorable. Lovely helpful friendly staff very happy to explain anything on the menu. The menu is constantly & changed twice during the evening that we visited. Sat downstairs where the seating is more comfortable .
I. P.
London’s finest Fish restaurant with a twist of Tapas style
R. G.
Delicious! Had a wonderful selection of tapas type seafood yesterday and enjoyed every mouthful. We had ordered 5 plates and a side for the two of us, couple of glasses of prossecco each and we were both happily full. Only disappointment was the caramel pot otherwise it would have been received a 5 star.
K. H.
Food was ok. If you are looking for strong flavours. These dishes have more simple blends and flavours. When it came to pay the waiter was very uptight and insisted on a tip as if it was compulsory. He spoke to me and said well you should tip. I felt obliged and didnt even know how much to tip. I have a £4 tip and he gave the rudest look ever. Service was pretty slow as the restaurant was super jam packed.
I. T.
I went to Prawn on the Lawn for my birthday and had a wonderful meal. We had most of the small plates (there were six of us) and every single one was delicious. Great wine list and atmosphere too. I would highly recommend!
R. A.
An absolutely amazing find. a fishmongers at the front selling wonderful fish with a couple of seats and barrels to sit around for a some great tasting cocktails, a food wine selection and not too bad a beer choice. Then comes the food: wonderful oysters, great tasting fresh clamshells & tuna to mention just a few. There is restaurant downstairs that you can book - although we didn't.
This really is a great place, with good food, a good atmosphere and really friendly staff.....although don't expect to walk away feeling too full.
K.
Whether you love seafood or simply want to try...this is the place to go. This bijou restaurant is perfect for an intimate date and or group of friends. The staff really know their cockles so if your a novice you will not feel out of place. I went with my 12 year old niece and had a wonderful time. Definitely worth a visit.
I. M.
Really fresh and lovely seafood and fish dishes. I've been coming here regularly for over a year and really enjoy the food. I have noticed that the portions sizes have gotten smaller, so the menu might seem a little expensive for some...especially for lunch. Still worth it though!
a. d.
Food is great, really fresh fish amazingly cooked. Staff is friendly and helpful. Had some really good wine too. Definitely a place to come back to. If you're looking for some good sea food you need to try Prawn on the Lawn.
C. K.
Delicious taramosalata with seaweed flat bread and mouthwatering prawns.
B. D.
1st visit, some fantastic dishes. Mackerel and fried oyster were my faves while my husband raved about the scallops. All with reasonably priced wine and optional service charge. Highly recommended
S. L.
Fresh and tasty seafood tapas not overpriced! To try!
Don't forget to book in advance as this is very busy.
Their signature dish, the "Prawn on the Lawn" is good but not our preferred.
Scallops, seared tuna were delicious!
A. W.
A small, quaint place that has allot to offer. The staff are friendly and helpful and the kitchen serves up delicious food from a small but varied menu. We did did not try the wine list, however the Negroni cocktail was fabulous.
S. R.
The Bloody Mary is delicious (and comes with a fresh oyster). We sampled a number of shared plates and everything was delicious (special mention for the scallops & Nduja). The staff was super friendly, the space is cosy which makes the experience even nicer. I'll definitely be back!
N.
This was by FAR the best lunch I have had in a very long time. Actually I’m trying to think of a lunch that I have had that is better. I ordered the clams and mussels and deep fried / jersey and Dorset oysters with Havana rum. Everything was mind blowing and I’ve found my
New fav spot 😋😋😋 my first review but I had to it was that good.
M.
Tapas fish so enjoyable I didn't want to leave. The staff are so helpful I throughly recommend and will go again.
D. B.
Dinner here is unbelievable. The deep fried oysters with garlic creme fraiche are 100% my favourite, and I would aggressively recommend them to anyone (even if they say they don't think they like oysters). The seared tuna with soy is also damn delicious, as are the thai basil scallops and butterflied sardines. I wanted to eat everything on the board but, restricted by my capacity for crushed potatoes as well as everything else, left absolutely stuffed. Basically if you love fresh fish and wine you're gonna lose your bloody mind.
Service is incredible, staff are super friendly and they went above and beyond (my dining partner doesn't like coriander and they happily made all the small plates we ordered without it in).
L. R.
What a wonderful place! Fabulous food, wonderful service, a great menu, a beautiful private dining room and even dog friendly! We ate there yesterday and will definitely return - their fish Sunday roast looks amazing!
A. G.
Very good fish. There is an Asian twist in the cooking in some dishes that I was not really fan of especially with coriander. But that's more my taste, otherwise it's well executed. The razorfish was superb
M. A.
Each time I come back is a wonderful experience,
The food is delicious, good wine, great people!!
N. T.
Incredible sea food!!!
Tapas style serving. Choose 4to6 dishes and 2 or 3 sides. Menu changes daily
Amazing wine list too.
D. i. L.
We didn't really sat at the main restaurant but the next door. Ceviche was fake, completely nothing to do with the what a ceviche is, was more a raw fish salad, equally delicious but I was expecting a true one. Portions are a bit small but the service is very good.
S. J.
When the fishworks chain closed down in Richmond we were robbed of our favourite restaurant. It was a great pleasure to discover prawn on the lawn last night after a meeting in Highbury. The manageress told us that she had partially trained at fish works and it showed! almost Faultless and innovative tapas style dishes, we have given it 5 stars for the greatness of discovery-really 4 1/2 because the taramasalata was pure salt cods roe and in inedible-may we recommend the potato or bread base with olive oil and lemon as the Greeks make it!

Very nice food. Small, so very close to fellow diners. Good atmosphere. Would go again for excellent fresh fish. Not cheap but I think worth it.
S. M.
WeWere a party of 6 and we ordered 2 plates each 3 lots of potatoes and 9 oysters. We all tried some of each. The hake was amazing as was the tuna. The other dishes werenot good enough for the reputation and cost.We were charged for an extra bottle of wine too.
C.
Scallops were basically raw, when said that to the waiter they just shrugged. Rest of meal was fine.
D. G.
Superb food and service. The oysters were exquisite. The potatoes, prawns and hake, truffle oil gem lettuce and seared tuna were all delightful! And all very good value with a nice bottle of white.
G. H.
I'm a big fan of prawn on the lawn. It's a great restaurant option if you're looking for something a little lighter than usual. The dishes are small and designed for sharing and for the most part It's fresh and tasty and light. Get the prawn on the lawn, avocado and prawns. Lovely.
S. L.
Highly rated and rightly so. This fishmongers turned restaurant is a fantastic place to sample some of best selection of fish from around the UK. Prawn on the lawn is a house special but recommend the scallops and if you want something interesting, try the cockles!
M.
Delicious food and serves an excellent variety of fresh fish to take home
j. s.
my favourite restaurant, probably in all of England but definitely in London. Just perfect in every way. I have even had a birthday party here, the attention to detail and careful consideration of the menu by the staff was just amazing. I cannot recommend this place enough. If there is even a shadow of doubt in your mind, just go...GO!
F. M.
Seafood galore! Definitely worth booking in advance and great for small groups and couples. Sharing plates and Vino works out around 40/head including tip. Definitely worth a visit.
G. N.
Unbelievable seafood restaurant. Crushed potatoes and Szechuan prawns an absolute must! Great service and bill not as heavy as we thought it would be. Will be back. Cheers!
C. L.
I'm completely obsessed with seafood, especially oysters and have been to a lot of seafood restaurants from ranging from your cheap Loch Fyne to silly expensive Wiltons but this place has the best oysters I've ever had in London. They also have an oyster eating competition, a chap called Derek has had 60 in one sitting, think you could beat that? then get down there! all the other food is delicious as well, the scallop ceviche was just melt on your tongue goodness. Loved the whole setting too, fishmongers at the front with some barrels for people to sit round and a bar down the one side where you can sit, drink some very nice bubbles, have your oysters hanging in front of you and settle in for the night. And all the staff were great too, basically i loved this place and can't wait to go again!
A. C.
Great little restaurant to which I've been a few times. The service is always quick and friendly and you can always rely on the quality of the ingredients. I love the varied nature of the menu.
s.
Innovative, and constantly changing small plates of seafood. The standard of food is exceptional, the service is excellent. The price point and value for money is spot on for what you're getting.

We had a meal at the new London site on Saturday evening. It was fantastic! The food was as delicious as ever, and the new hot food concept with the fresh fish available 3-ways was great. Cannot wait to go back again.
A. L.
I can't even describe how good is this place! Everything test so fresh, so good!
This is one of my favourite restaurant in London!
Don't forget to book in advance! The place is really small and they only have 3-4 tables in the basement.
M. K.
I finally managed to have my first Oyster... and it was delicious. Not to mention the awesome hake, ray and shelfish stew. It was all topped with a fantastic service. We will come back!
K. R.
Great food but small portion sizes
G. E. V.
Average place...I did not expect to find amazing fish..and I was right.... The dishes were kinda tasteless and the crab was overcooked. The staff was really friendly
m. s.
Delicious food with generous portions. I would recommend asking which of the options come from Cornwall if eating local, sustainably and extra fresh is a priority but all their food is of a very high quality.
S. D.
Very fresh, great fish with a twist. Especially recommend the mussels and the potatoes on the side. Drink wine when you dine, let the fish swim
C.
Delicious fresh fish, friendly service, welcoming atmosphere, and ever changing menu. Favourites were the monkfish curry and the scallops.
D. N.
Fantastic food, very creative dishes, a bit expensive but worth it. You’ve got to love fish and lime. The kafir lime panacotta is to die for...Nice and cozy atmosphere.

For fans of top quality fresh fish, Prawn on the Lawn in Highbury & Islington will become your new best (restaurant) friend. Opened in September this year, Rick's long-time passion for food (influenced by his mum, who’s a Cordon Bleu trained chef as well as an artist) has manifested itself in providing Londoners with a new way to appreciate fish. Simple, modern and fresh is what it's all about. The latter is undeniable given the amazing (for fish fans) smell as you walk through the door...

R. B.
Great crab. Lovely cockles and mussels.
Y. R.
This is the best place in London for oysters, the rest of there seafood menu can easily give any Michelin starred kitchen a run for their money.
G. M.
Fish restaurant. High quality, large number of staff, open kitchen. Sharing plates, 4 for 2 people. Crab with mooli was special.
R. H.
Incredible food, amazing quality and good service. Really worth the visit
A. M. S.
I don't normally review restaurants but this place had the best seafood I've ever had. All dishes were cooked perfectly and the service was very good.
J. D.
Amazing food, can't wait to go again ... Need to visit the North London restaurant as is local-ish to me as the Padstow one was outstanding and is literally one of the best seafood restaurants I've had the pleasure eating in. The staff were amazingly attentive, they only have a few tables at a time as is small in size however this just makes their service so much better as they are concentrating pretty much solely on you and a few others .
L. W.
What an amazing fish bar, we sat and watch them cook so many fish dishes ,and the tastes is so food, first time I have eat the shell on the prawn because it was so tasty
V. T.

S. R.
Fantastic fish food, from small plates to whole fish served in three fantastic flavours.
G. C.
Nice, but be prepared for it to be expensive as the portions are small. Think of it as a Seafood Tapas bar.
A. S.
The food was delicious but not a place that can be rushed on a Friday/Saturday evening due to the small kitchen.

(Translated) It's a fish restaurant, so all the ingredients are fresh. The menu changes depending on the ingredients brought in that day, and the dishes made with various fish, oysters, clams, and crabs are all delicious. The seasoning or seasoning is not strong, so it is good to feel the taste of the ingredients. The restaurant is not big, but the seating arrangement is properly arranged so it is not noisy and the staff are friendly.
A seafood restaurant run by a fishmonger - the ingredients cannot get any fresher! I really enjoyed all their food (the menu changes daily depending on what they have that day). Everything was prepared in a way that you can taste the ingredients as opposed to being overwhelmed by sauce. My favorite was the fried red mullet but cod fillet and monkfish was super fresh and flavourful as well. Friendly service and cozy atmosphere.

(Translated) Seafood restaurant. All chefs are women. The cooking method incorporated various ideas, and there was tuna tuna ponzu. It is a bit far from the city center, but it has a good atmosphere and taste. Is the special seat the counter in front of the kitchen? Reservations are required.

(Translated) The ingredients are fresh and taste great! Fried sea oysters (Oyster) are also delicious, but it’s a pity to eat too fast and I didn’t shoot

食材很新鲜味道也很赞!炸海蛎子(Oyster)也好吃的,可惜吃太快没拍
