Great place with delicious food & desserts 😍

Wow, this place has been shut for a while and recently reopened, great service and great food, in the winter try and get a table well inside to avoid the cold breeze when the door opens and being so close to the ordering station.

So sad to see it closed. I had many a happy memory here. The selection of food was good and staff were very agreeable. Would love to see the store reopen. Such a pity! *Edit: Walking past the store last week, I could see that it might be undergoing renovation before reopening.

The place was splendid!! They could have played the music louder and one member of staff was really rude at first but after I spoke to her directly, she became really nice. The meal wa splendid and I got the a three course meal for two people of groupon for £40. Thé dishes were completely worth the money and I enjoyed every second!!!
The view was beautiful and it was easy to access, near the station, and the restaurant is surrounded but many beautiful shops, which allow for increased enjoyment after the meal

Our daughter bought us an afternoon tea as a gift and we travelled the 150 mile trip by train. She also bought us theatre tickets.
We arrived at Euston and as we didn’t have full details I rang and asked what we needed to do. Whilst helpful the tone was a little abrupt and they ended the call before I had finished speaking.
Anyway we took the walk as we had enough time. The location is excellent as very near to Fortnum and Mason and Piccadilly Circus.
Wheelchair access was good and staff were helpful. We felt a little out classed as there were many clients whom seemed very wealthy and well spoken. However we had paid (well our daughter had), and so we enjoyed the experience.
We were asked to choose two of the smaller cakes each from a tray the waiter brought us.
We were then brought our plated ‘afternoon tea’ with the hot chocolate and latte ordered (the cream on the hot chocolate was squirty cream), I would have thought that an establishment such as this would have had teal whipped cream.
Sandwiches were more than enough but somewhat stale on the edges (I think the afternoon teas were pre prepared and plated). This is main reason for only 3 stars.
Scones were ok and jam was in two small jars.
The cakes we had chosen were very sweet which for some would be good but a little too sweet for me.
I don’t know what my daughter had paid but It was an experience and very thoughtful of her.

Had the "Cream Tea for Two" for £9.90 - including 2 baby scones + clotted cream/jam with tea, coffee or hot chocolate. The scones were warm and fluffy (delicious) and the tea was good. The only downside is that the service was very slow. Other than that, great experience, nice decor.

Lovely interior. Had afternoon tea here with a friend, the China plates are beautiful. Food was ok, basic but still nice. The scones here are different where the top part is almost bread roll style like and bottom half is scones like which was ok, I can say I tried it for the first time.
Lovely tea selections.
Services could be better. It was lunch hour and the place was slowly building and the waiters were rushing around which didn’t make the place relaxing for me. No one came to check if we needed anything else. No ‘thank you, bye’. There are better afternoon teas elsewhere.

This is the second time we have visited for dinner in a month. Excellent service from friendly staff on both occasions. Food is carefully presented, cooked well and very delicious. Can highly recommend the pate, baked camembert, haloumi fries and mushroom risotto. Toilet facilities are exceptionally clean. Booth tables on the left of the restaurant are especially nice and the restaurant attracts a mixed crowd. Atmosphere is quiet. The place is a five minute walk East from Green Park tube station so ideally located in the West End.

This restaurant is a block from Hatchards which is the oldest bookshop in the United Kingdom, founded on Piccadilly in 1797 by John Hatchard and from Fortnum & Mason, English purveyor famous for its teas, preserves and cookies. The restaurant has beautiful decor and delightfully blocks out the noise of the street. Refreshingly, it is from a past time which I appreciate. I had Welsh Rarebit, salad, scones and an Americano which were all good after our visit to the two fascinating stores mentioned in the first sentence.

We went here for the afternoon tea at around 3:30p.m. The place is really really busy and there were no enough staff what one feels. The tea and the food was good. They explained how and what to expect. The service was fast enough.
T. P.
Breakfast for 10 pounds with tea and juice. also very clean with nice English decor.
They appear understaffed and that’s why there are comments about service IMO. The guy is running around doing everything.

I came here with another couple for afternoon tea last week. We all loved the experience and would definitely go back if we lived closer. The treats and sandwiches were so delicious. Scones were more like buns than scone texture, but still yummy. Clotted cream, jam, cakes, and finger sandwiches. And you have a choice of 3 teas or hot cocoa. If you get a chance, i highly recommend it.! :)
P. G.
Great atmosphere and very good food. The prices are adequate for the location and the pastries are just excellent.
O. Z.
Great place for breakfast. Nice atmosphere and very pleasant waitresses. Will come back here for sure.
M. H.
Fantastic interior, attentive staff, delicious burger, mouth-watering cruffin. What more could you want?
S. N.
I visited this place using a Groupon voucher. After a long flight and no breakfast, this place hit the spot. Their servers are really nice and the food is pretty good. I would come again the next time I am in London.
T. R.
Supa! They've changed the decor but still give the same atmosphere. I had pistachio gateaux and it was beautiful. Service was good.
L.
Nice place for tea in central. Looked popular especially with the long ques. Staff are nice. Didn't like the fact that the sandwiches etc wasn't unlimited. Think I've been spoilt with places that refill sandwiches etc. But overall, it's a nice place.
P. G.
Great atmosphere and very good food. The prices are adequate for the location and the pastries are just excellent.
M. S.
Have been twice at awkward between meals times but have always managed to have extra hot water for my pot of tea with NO pressure to move on...I am one person on a table for 2. The cream tea was delicious and the scones warmed just sufficiently. Delightful "earthenware" in the ladies loo which unfortunately is down stairs.
O. Z.
Great place for breakfast. Nice atmosphere and very pleasant waitresses. Will come back here for sure.
A. M.
Beautiful environment and food prepared with thought and care, which we appreciate. The omelette came with several different varieties of mushroom, not just your usual button, bit included shiitake + others. The "Colonial" chicken curry was fresh and vegetably.
A. A.
Half way through our day of shopping in London we came across this place and how lovely it was, I had a club sandwich and chips and was gorgeous, perfect just what we needed to start shopping again
S. N.
Had a nice experience here for afternoon tea. Wish we knew before that the hours for tea are usually before 5, although their Groupon states from 12-6pm
R. A.
i have been coming here for over 30 years and the standard is still the same . Good service and fresh cakes .
Y. M.
Food was amazing, Julia who served us was super understanding and helpful. Lovely lady. The other gentleman (waiter) was super rude to myself and friends. However Julia made our experience so much better.
I would recommend as it is good value for what you get. I think there could be better vegetarian options
K. M.
Lovely spot for a cuppa and scones. Great for people watching. Very reasonable pricing especially compared to neighbouring F&M.
S. Y.
Nice atmosphere and really posh yet affordable afternoon tea. Friendly staff and prompt service.
G. L.
Came here for my wedding anniversary. Absolutely loved the beautiful restaurant, well decorated. The chicken mushroom, beef stroganoff, Salmon starter were absolutely delicious. Finished with a hot chocolate and ice cream. Service was wonderful. Much recommended.
B. K.
Such a beautiful experience.
I took my Nan for her birthday, tea for two, and we both loved it. I have been to a few places for this and i have to say this place is top 3. Lovely service, they just leave you alone unless you want their attention otherwise. We got to choose 4 deserts before they brought anything to us. We also got a lovely glass of champagne and so much food.
I thought it would be a little small but was perfect portions, we even took leftovers home.
Its a must visit! I will be going again.
A. K.
Visited Richoux today for my daughter's birthday and had an amazing experience. We used a groupon afternoon tea voucher. We were greeted and seated as soon as we entered the cafe. Order was taken for tea and coffee and shortly after the pastries arrived. Everything was fresh. The waiter/ manager was very welcoming and accommodating, he asked if we were ok with the choice of sandwiches and we told him that we had allergies to salmon, so he kindly replaced them with ham - that shows that this place cares about their customers needs. After reading the negative reviews I was not expecting anything positive, but I was proven wrong. The service, atmosphere, interior and afternoon tea was just amazing!!..
Would recommend going at 4pm when its not too busy.

One of my favourite places for tea when I'm in the area. The food is good and the pastries/cakes are delicious. The only reason why this review is only a 3* is because the customer service needs to be improved. In particular, I've been given nasty stares and pointedly ignored by a male, French waiter (who treats other Caucasian guests courteously) every single time I've been there so far.
C. L.
A calm haven in the middle of one of the most tourist visited areas in London. Staff are friendly and nice, it has been a favourite for decades. Some people complain about service, but you just need to grab their attention to get served. It does get busy at peak times. Prices are reasonable, particularly for the location and the food, coffee and cakes are excellent.
S. C.
My husband and I had a lovely breakfast here and returned the next day for tea. Excellent food, the service was good but it was a few minutes wait before someone got to us. Their breakfast tea is delicious, the atmosphere relaxing. It still has the early 1900's glam factor that makes you feel that a very stylish flapper era couple may come waltzing in at any moment. If you're looking for a quiet little hideaway to enjoy a nice meal while in the middle of bustling Piccadilly, this is the place to be!
D. T.
We had afternoon tea here, we really enjoyed the selection of cakes, sandwiches and scones.
My only criticism is that it would be better to put a tea filter in the teapot, rather than having an external filter to place over the teacup. Having loose tea leaves inside the teapot with the water means that there is no way to prevent the tea from over-infusing. Indeed after the first cup, our tea was too bitter.
N. H.
Great find. Nice food and good value.
Full English breakfast is good enough value at £10.95. BUT, there is a better option- choice of any breakfast option (including full English) plus coffee or pot of tea plus large fruit juice for £9.95!
Has to be the best value in the area
S. R.
Always good for a quick brunch and delicious viennoiseries
A. V.
Accurate 1920s/1930s atmosphere, good service, the pastries were a bit of a hit and miss (the banoffee tart was not particularly tasty, with the cream lacking flavour and the caramel being too compact - the strawberry tart was delicious) but the savoury dishes were amazing. All and all, a sophisticated cafe and tea room in central London. If you are looking for an authentic place with that kind of atmosphere, Richoux is perfect.
T. L.
Delicious food and nice restaurant in one of the most beautiful area of London, very close to the Piccadilly and Green Park Station
C. O.
Not outstanding patisserie but much improved from its 80's "heyday"...
K. S.
Excellent mix of food - despite its incredibly French appearance, it actually boasts quite a selection of food from pasta to afternoon tea to the best eggs Florentine I have ever had. Its convenient location and lack of crowd makes it quite a change from the usual haunts in the area. Service is a tad lacking, with waiters seeming slightly impatient, but it's not enough to take anything away from the generously-portioned, tasty meals they provide.
F. K.
It is a tourist trap. A very efficient one, but still a trap, designed to catch those disappointed souls turned away from the Ritz or the Wolseley. The staff are nice enough but like the interior, they're just going through the motions. The decor looks nice enough, a good imitation of the Ivy but it doesn't hold up. A dirty knife here, a dull glass there. Mercifully the food is surprisingly cheap for the setup and it's warm and spacious. A little cleaning and some polished mirrors would do the place a wonder. It's not bad, it just isn't as great as it looks from the outside.
M. P.
Enjoyed the atmosphere, service and surroundings.
The French onion soup was superb, especially on a cold day. The second starter, mushrooms on toast, wasn’t very warm and bordered on being cold. Nevertheless, I really like Richoux and I will be returning again. Coffees are superb.
C. R.
A delightful place for coffee, tea with patiss, or a light lunch. Have been going there for years and it never fails to please.
R.
I personally loved it.
We went there to try their afternoon tea.
Even if we had a little child with us they were really friendly.
Teas really good, food and scones delicious.
Cutlery clean and cups aswell.
Service 4/5 ...one of the waitress was a bit nervous and stressed even if the place wasnt full at all.
Apart from that, really suggest atmosphere,we loved the cure behind the details, tableso and chairs really clean.Nice perfume inside.
Prices and quality really fair and good!!
We will definitely go back!!!
I personally lovedit!!

We had a groupon voucher for a meal for 2 plus prosecco for £35 and we attended on the 19th May. After visiting cafe rouge the night before and getting substandard service which we believe was due to the fact we had booked a theatre dinner deal we were a bit apprehensive when we entered Richoux as it looked very posh!
As soon as we entered we were made very welcome and even after giving the lovely member of staff our groupon voucher she was still smiling.
No preset menu and we could choose from anything on the menu.
The staff were lovely and very attentive throughout our visit.
Food was amazing and the portions were very generous.
We only visit London twice a year for shows but we will absolutely visit Richoux again when we visit in November.
a. d.
nice but tea for two had not enough cream and jam and not enough pastries and too many off the same sandwiches. flooring is coming apart near the stairs and is a trip hazard i picked up a piece of broken glass. not clean enough
S. L.
Good! fast, kind service and nice tea, cakes. Some of commenters said that staffs are not kind and fast but I cannot agree with that opinion. The woman staff I met in the shop was really really kind and treated me very well. Of course her service was really fast!! (But one male staff was really slow and not very kind.. Hm.. I think he ruins the shop's image.)
D. G.
Good food , nice establishment , good staff
S. D.
What a surprise! Superb sauvignon blanc to accompany a delicious kedgeree. The bread basket was excellent. Attentive and friendly service and a lovely ambience...in the heart of London. No idea why the previous reviews are so mediocre. This restaurant deserves praise!
C. C.
Lovely place, good atmosphere and nice food. Quick and efficient service without feeling rushed. Wouldn't hesitate to return and no problem to recommend Richoux. Excellent Patisserie as well.
J. C.
Service was excellent - food was great - I came in around 10am

So Richoux was a random visit because we were looking for a tea shop. This place, from outside feels like a tea room, but when you go in you're even more convinced it's a tea room, until you actually see the tea list.
We expected a bigger tea menu after seeing one from the waitress, so this ultimately ended in a lot of disappointment. To compensate, we ordered food.
Customer service: Excellent. Lovely waitresses who were friendly and welcoming.
Ambiance: Edwardian decor. Mirrored, which is a slight problem because you will end up meeting eyes' that you don't want to. The seating is very comfortable, large and lush.
Food:
Tuna Melt: There isn't usually much to write about a tuna-melt. This tuna melt was quite nice. It was a large portion with a heavy tuna quantity. The cheese was melted on the top. Overall, it didn't look beautiful minus the massive handful of rocket salad, but it was a good meal.
Raspberry tart: Although it looks beautiful, this is a huge disappointment! The raspberries are coated with too much gelatine/jelly. The rasberries taste extremely bland under the sugar coating of the gelatine. Placed underneath the mound of raspberries sits some strange gunky custard above the biscuit, which seemed damp. I could not go through even half of this before putting it to the side.
Tea: It was nice and well presented in possibly bone-china tea cups. I do wish there was more variety of tea for a tea room.
S. F.
My pasta was excellent! It taste better that expected.
C. G.
A true authentic English café, with great service, fair prices and great taste. Waiters and waitresses truly deliver a great experience by taking care of their customers. I truly recommend to try a traditional English breakfast and some schones with tea. Richoux is close to the shopping Oxford Street, so it is the perfect place to charge your energy before getting into a shopping mission.
J. L. V.
Best afternoon tea ever. Me and my wife we had an afternoon tea at Richoux and it was a gorgeous experience. The atmosphere is lovely and the service is very kind. Absolutely recommended.
J. T.
I came here regularly and the service and quality really suffered lately. The last incidence was the waiters ignoring us at the door, then again when ready to order, and it took for ever til food was served. The high point was a screw in the sandwiches. I won't come back and recommend you to find a better place too!
T. M.
Had lovely experience with afternoon tea served by excellent staff. Good ambience for relaxing time. 10% discount to RA Members was added bonus. Will most definitely be back.
J. D.
Afternoon tea is an experience out of this world. Order any patisserie selection you like and you will want to come back. Poor service though with a lack of politeness.
K. A.
Popped in here for a coffee with my dad. His order was a cappuccino and he got a breakfast tea. We didn't complain because the waiter was quite preoccupied. Gorgeous building though.
H. I.
We had an afternoon tea. Very nice and well worth it. Great traditional venue in the heart of the city. Attentive service.
M. D.
The food was very tasty, however the service was slow. I had to chase up a few times and one item never appeared. A great setting, just don't be in a rush to get anywhere.
S. D.
Always enjoy eating here.
I would recommend their afternoon tea.
I think that you cannot leave London, if you are a visitor, without having a "cream tea".
B. P.
Was at first disappointed by one unfriendly waiter but was later helped by a very friendly waitress who was great! Recommended some great dessert.
Really enjoyed my croquet madame!
i. r.
Richoux, Piccadilly, is a classic London favourite. The menu offers delicious pastries, stylish breakfasts (including real Eggs Benedict !) and light meals throughout the day. Pricy but we'll worth a visit, at least once !
Note: Richoux has been recently redecorated, but if you look very carefully you will discover that it was once a Chinese restaurant...
A. S.
Lovely place with delicious deserts and coffee. We went there for meeting with friends and by Groupon promotion. We had a nice time a great service.
a. m.
Good quality of food nice environment. Although very slow service and when u have an afternoon tea they should offer first the prosecco and after the hot drinks.
p. c.
Very slow. The ticket apparently got lost and we waited for ever . The chicken was unfortunately burned, took a while to cut all the bits out. And the croutons never materialised. The waiter was polite but that doesn't compensate for the rest. Big disappointment.
N. M.
Great little coffee/tea lounge situated in Piccadilly. Old world style with great food and deserts. Type of place you could sit for a few hours over lunch and feel comfortable.
l. l.
Had some of the worst hot chocolate money can buy. Is it that difficult to melt a bar of decent chocolate? Brownish powder in milk is not great at a petrol station, but a shame at £4 a cup. All show, no go. Avoid.
R. A.
Excellent atmosphere & service, nice soup ...
J. H.
This place was the best !! Food was beautiful and dessert qas to die for. Staff were extremely pleasent and helpful. Will definently return.
P. G.
Great place. If you want to experience the british tea time just go there. Great tea, great cake. But careful this is not cheap.
S. D. S.
We had a great time, nice food, location excellent, very attentive staff but quality of coffee can be improved.
R. R.
Nice restaurant. But I felt there was nothing amazing about the food, I had the beef stroganoff, didn't get a lot of flavour, unfortunately nothing special.
T. A.
What an absolutely gorgeous place!! I didn’t want to leave. The afternoon tea was a wonderful first time experience. I’d definitely come back again!
C. S.
Cosy place to have tea especially during the colder months. Good selection of cakes and pastries but nothing exceptional.
F. J.
A really nice place to have a meal, staff very friendly and helpful. In a very pleasant setting.. would come back again..
L. M. L.
Love this restaurant! I don't understand all the bad comments... I've been there 4 or 5 times, the food was always very good and tasty and the staff very nice!
l. p.
Great food (we had the full English breakfast) and drinks. Excellent service. Great decor.
R. F.
A really nice little restaurant, the staff are really helpful and friendly, and the food is nice also. Try it, you will not be disappointed.. Try the Fish Pie and one of the nice desserts.. Yum
J. H.
The 9,95£ breakfast is a great deal

P. Z.
Very nice place, I've been for late breakfast!!! Service ok. Very clean, I'll be back for sure because of their breakfast 😊
A. L.
Tea was lovely and cake. But service was terrible. To be honest it was more the staff not bothering to notice customers
D. S.
Nice place. Solid reliable food. Nothing extraordinary but good enough. Service excellent.
J. G.
Arrived when they were busy, they were keen to get us served and out as quickly as possible. Then when less busy it was difficult to get any attention from staff.
B. G.
Very relaxed but elegant. Waitstaff very good. Food wonderful. Seating comfortable. Not intrusive.
A. R.
Magnificent decor and prompt service. Short walk from royal academy - perfect for an afternoon tea after an exhibition!

Had a lovely 3 course meal here via Groupon deal but even without the Groupon code it would of been worth it. From start to finish waiter service was good (not bothering you too much etc). Food was spot on especially the desserts which have got to be sampled. Overall atmosphere was calm and relaxed.

(Translated) 8:30 pm on Sunday night. I came back from hyde park.
The interior is very beautiful and calm and unoccupied.
I ordered Fish pie (a lot of mashed potatoes, 3 shrimp inside, a lot of salmon and white fish underneath) and fish & chips.
The clerk's attitude was normal ...

Afternoon tea can be ordered by adding one cup of black tea to one set.
Even if I ordered it with 3 trays, the quantity was so big like the picture so I ate it full.
Afternoon tea in London is too expensive to eat properly ... the atmosphere is good and the price is good! The staff is very friendly

(Translated) Very nice place where you eat well! The restaurant is well located in the heart of the city and not far from the gardens and the big shops. I had really good fish and chips. I didn't expect to finish my plate considering the size of the fish but it's so good that we finished everything !! The 2 accompanying sauces are super good. This restaurant is a place to try because it is really good and not too expensive for such luxury.

(Translated) I came for breakfast. A relaxed breakfast, thanks to the bank holiday's three consecutive holidays. There is no menu, but you can enjoy creme tea so if you like scones and plenty of clotted cream, you may order it!
