River Fish Bar is everything that is good and holy about fish and chips: delicious fish, well-sized and cooked chips, a wide range of options and really, really good value. I am gutted to have moved further away but will be making frequent pilgrimages back along the Essex Road.

Due to horrible weather we decided to grab a take away on the way home. Never normaly do this so what a great surprise to get such lovely fish and chips! Fish tasted really fresh and not greasy. Chips were fab too. We have lived here 30 years, what I have missed! I recommend.

River fish bar has got to be the best customer experience I've ever had, and that's why I'll always go back. They welcome you into their shop like family. They ask how you're doing and they actually care. The food taste very fresh and authentic, and portion sizes are great. Will definitely recommend to anyone.

My dilemna is chips are always (usually) cooked in same fryer as fish which is no good for someone allergic to fish. So I can never order f & c’s or partner would cry & go hungry. Pity, this place looks good. Am local & didn’t know about it (not been out in a while LOL)

Since River Fish Bar has been taken over, the cooked fish and chips are brilliant, dare I say better than Sutton and Sons down the road and half the price. They cook to order, hence very crispy...Yum

The best fish and chips, ever. Don't take my word just try it once. We used to live in angel and therefore it was easy for us to do a take away almost every other Friday. Now we have moved away but we still come here for the fish and chips.

No idea why this place is getting 1 star and over silly things. Need to write this as I feel it deserves it. Been going here for a few months now and at different times of day, with the chips being consistently well cooked, freshly cooked and not oily at all. I don’t like the quality of the other stuff being sold here, I had a Pie that had really hard crust at the bottom, but if the chips are made well then I’m a repeated customer just for chips. Keep it up and thanks for making good chips.

Fantastic fresh food, cant fault it. BUT, didnt receive order from uber driver 2 saturdays in a row. Had to claim money back from uber and thats not easy as they only receive calls from merchants and drivers. Its a shame for the shop as they must have dishonest drivers delivering for them. Therefore i will not use this shop for delivered food.
