Reviews of Roast
L. D.
Lovely high-end restaurant. Atmosphere was quaint and quiet, staff pretty friendly. I left my jumper there and staff were already waiting with it by the door when I realised, which was very sweet! The food was astonishing, although a tad expensive at around £50 per person, but it is London! The portion sizes when we went were perfect, in fact we couldn't finish them (we had a beef wellington, a steak, and a starter each). However, when some friends of mine went for a Sunday roast, they said they only got 2 thin slices of beef and were left hungry - I think it just depends what you order. We had a great time though, and it is nice for a special occasion.

If only 6 stars were possible! It’s an amazing location, lovely staff and the food is just incredible. You’ll want to order one of everything from the menu! They were so lovely when they found out it was my birthday too. The sides are definitely big enough for two people if you wanted to share a few between you.

Food was amazing, could not fault anything. The two of us couldnt decide which mains to get so we ending up getting three and they all didnt dissappoint. Im so glad they all were their own dishes too rather than just a change of meat. The scallops in particular were delicious and have not had anything similar to that before. The only issue was that the seating were very close to one another though so you could hear everyone's conversations. Bit more on the pricey side.

Amazing food, lovely wine, good service. Very interesting venison burger, well seasoned, great bun, fresh salad, interesting home made ketchup to temper the gamey savoury goodness. Friends had the beef wellington which looked glorious. Very good wine list. Not cheap but felt like decent value for the experience.

We were greeted with a hello and a warm smile and led to a table by the window with a great view over the market. A bread basket served with balsamic,
Olive oil, Balsamic and lightly salted butter came first and the bread was super soft and fluffy.
We shared a chateaubriand with honey roasted vegetables and it was absolutely delicious. We ended our meal with sticky toffee pudding, which wasn't at all heavy or stodgy and one of the best apple and plum crumbles with custard I have ever tasted.
The staff qere friendly and helpful which just added to the whole experience. Will definitely revisit.

Read some great reviews and was really looking forward to our meal. Unfortunately, we were quite disappointed with the service and the quality of food.
The roast potatoes were lovely but the beef wellington, although looked wonderful, was rather tasteless and bland. The Yorkshire pudding was hard and over cooked.
Overall disappointed with a meal that cost us just over £90.
No engagement from staff or smiling faces which also hindered the experience.
However, there were lovely views of Borough market and the restaurant itself was beautiful.

* Swoon * - I love this place. Came for dinner but also recommend for breakfast; dining room has great light and my inner nerd love that trains pass on either side. Food is delicious, service was excellent and incredibly attentive. A must see if you're in the area and are looking for a break from the hustle and bustle of the market below!

Excellent service, extensive wine list and extremely generous portions of very high quality food. Very friendly for families with a wonderful children’s menu and activity pack.

Visiting London. Was told the British meal was Sunday Roast. Good quality food. Excellent experience. Extravagant Sunday night family dinner.

Came here randomly whilst browsing around borough market. We were given a very nice seating area by the window and it was amazing! Ordered scotch egg as starter and was amazed by the taste here. I ordered beef Wellington as usually it’s quite hard to order that dish for one person. I was a bit disappointed the fact the beef Wellington was cooked medium rather than medium rare. My wife ordered lamb rump and she struggled to cut the meat with normal knife. I had to request for steak knife to cut the meat. The potatoes were nice and fluffy. Although the staff didn’t really ask if we needed any other condiments like ketchup or mayonnaise. I had to request for that. Overall I think the service may need a bit of improvement, guess it was too busy for the amount of orders in the restaurant.

First day of staycation, so I wanted a perfect meal, 48 day aged beef ,my guest had the pork with morish crackling. Best of British produce & English sparking on the menu. Fantastic people watching views of Borough Market. I recommend grabbing a drink in the bar. So happy & content after this meal.
Just a 10 minute walk from Tate Modern.

First time here. This was for a breakfast event with a few friends. Great location, good food and service. Made a bit more special due to the Christmassy atmosphere inside Roast and outside in Borough Market.
M. Q.
My first time at Roast for a business meal last week. Great service, easy to get to location right by London Bridge tube and a beautiful, airy interior. The decor really is well done, spacious and welcoming.
I had the Seared Orkney Island Scallops and Pan Fried Sea Bream with Kentish Tender Stem Broccoli (with Lemon Oil and Toasted Almonds) and Sussex Charmer Chunky Chips (with Truffle Mayo) as sides.
The scallops were excellent and I found myself scraping the shell they came in for the rest of the sauce it was that tasty.
Sides were good. I really liked the broccoli but that's my go to side along with creamed spinach (unavailable at Roast).
The bream was beautiful, delicate meat that was cooked to perfection. Could have done with a little more flavour, but that is a minor observation.
Roast is not cheap, hence the four stars. If it was about 10-15% cheaper it would have received five.
I will definitely return for any business lunches or dinners.

We enjoyed our roast in lovely decorated setting. Great portion size, tender beef with huge yorkshire. The only downside was the trimmings (veg) consisted of only cabbage and pricey.
j. k.
Food was unbelievable, sadly the down side was the barmaid, who seemed to have a lot of attitude! The food and the restaurant were both amazing.
L. C.
Great atmosphere and very yummy food! Would definitely book as it gets very busy.
Good portion size!

We came for high tea and really enjoyed it. The atmosphere and location are excellent, the staff lovely and the service very good. We chose the bottomless prosecco option and were not disappointed! They were very generous and attentive to our glasses. The tea was also very nice quality and a lovely selection - the mint tea was real, fresh mint!
The food was beautifully presented and the portions were adequate - the cakes ended up being very filling. It was a very traditional selection. We found the cakes a bit stodgy but that's only a nit-pick. Otherwise it was all good quality and clearly homemade. Overall a decent value for the price since it is a fancy restaurant.
J. W.
Great service from Danielle prior to visit, delicious food, gorgeous wine, great location, will be coming back!
P. B.
I went here on a late rainy November morning so my friend and I had the Halloween themed Afternoon tea and I am extremely happy with what we got. It is a great meal and service for the price, worth it! It was even too much food as we did not finish however I especially loved the charcoal scones and dessert "shot" with lemon flavor.
The atmosphere and service were lovely. We were well taken care of. The interior is also very beautiful with the emerald green sofas and large windows which was perfect for taking photos as natural light could flood in. The kind staff even offered to take our photograph.
If you are visiting London I would definitely recommend checking Roast out for a typical British afternoon tea for less than half the price of bigger restaurants and cafes.
R.
Food was nice but a bit on the expensive side, the restaurant was pretty loud so it made if hard to chat. The restaurant was decorated very nicely for Christmas
A. O.
A little on the pricey side for the value you get. Didn't wao me and won't be returning here. Service was excellent, food okay nothing spectacular considering the price.
V. P.
Was surprisingly average. The meat itself was amazing (had the wellington) but as a roast was nothing that note worthy. It was fine but for the price, I would expect something special. Definitely wouldn’t go back.
Service was also pretty poor, borderline rude
M. P.
Traditional British roasts in a more modern setting above Borough market. The food is excellent and in 4 visits i've never had anyone have anything other than great things to say about the whole experience. Remember to book because it can get busy.
C.
Had afternoon tea with bottomless prosecco. Good atmosphere, substantial amount of food. Service was not the best though. Staffs were not attentive, every time we had to ask them to top up the glass which was quite annoying.
G. P.
Ate dinner for our son's 21st birthday. We all enjoyed our food greatly, and the service was very fast and efficient - the staff were working really hard. Nice ambience too, even though the place was not completely full (it was the last saturday before Xmas), no doubt due to late Covid cancellations. Not sure the quality of the food fully justified the prices though - £173 for 3 people, only two courses plus some bread, four beers and a glass of prosecco.
H. S.
The setting, location and service are all excellent.
For afternoon tea, it’s probably the best value to taste offer in London. A rustic and filling set, although the scones were a little on the dense side. The sticky toffee pudding shots were delightful.
As for the Sunday roast, the show stopper was the scotch eggs to start. The sage and sausage meat was deep and flavourful, the eggs cooked perfectly to a not too runny golden orange. We ordered the pork belly which unfortunately came out very dry and the crackling was ok in parts and chewy in other parts. Next time I will order the beef for sure as it looked much nicer. The crumble dessert had a lovely custard but was too tart for the filling.
Overall a great experience and the food was very agreeable if not particularly outstanding.
S. D.
Food is delicious, I had beef wellington which was amazing. Cocktails excellent too. Service was a tiny bit lacking versus expectations.
O. S.
Went for an early Christmas family meal as away at Christmas. The food was spectacular as was the atmosphere! The front of house and service however, were shocking - table booking delayed by over 30 minutes, service painfully
slow, food brought out cold or sides forgotten - all such a shame when the food is so yum! Location is fantastic and so guess these guys can get away with such poor service - such a shame, especially in the current environment! Will support other local businesses next time
D. A.
Really like it here. You can look down on Borough Market, which is now bustling again, while up on the first floor it's an oasis of calm and relaxation. Fortunately for me, but not so much for the owners, it's not that busy, which means a very unhurried experience. After a two and a half hour late lunch, I stayed another two and a half for meetings and drinks. Colleagues came and went; nobody seemed to mind. For these reasons, having spent over £250, it still felt like a bargain. Or maybe I'd had to much to drink! Either way, I'll be going again.
R. P.
A good ambience in the restaurant. Attentive service and food is well presented. Lovely tasty British food. The beef Wellington was beautifully served. Located in Borough Market I recommend this an ideal place to celebrate 🍾 for any occasion 😀
C. K.
We had the 3 course set dinner. The mains tried were the fish & chips and chicken schnitzel. Of the two I think the fish and chips was better. For dessert we had the sticky toffee pudding and a crumble.
The 3 course meal is around £35 per person. The food portions are very large and we struggled to fish all 3 courses. Quality wise I think the food was good but nothing very memorable.
I think you could probably find a similar meal for less else where. The ambiance is nice but due to the high ceilings there is a lot of echo. You could hardly heard each other talk on a small table. When we left I felt exhausted from the amount of noise in that place. Service was very good.
P. F.
Bit disappointed in all honesty, the menu looks great but I thought the service wasn't very good. We arrived and nobody felt like I was there to.experience anything special. Drinks took around 20 mins to come and 2 different waiters asked for our drinks order whilst we waited. We ordered bread to.share and our main courses and half way through our starter (the bread) our mains turned up. Not in a rush to go back but I had the beef Wellington which was cooked nicely.
J. B.
The food was good but not great value for money. Very poor on gluten free. There were two menus with inconsistent labelling and they declined to prepare a gluten free steak.
k. a.
Fantastic location and views, good service — and, unfortunately, some of the dishes overhyped (and overpriced). The 48-day aged roast beef (served with Yorkshire Pudding) was unfortunately not up to speed — both texture and flavour-wise. Definitely NOT the best Sunday roast in London, and def not worth its price tag. The roast pork belly on the other hand was excellent, highly recommended. It's somewhere between 3-4 out of 5 *
P. C.
Thank you to the Roast restaurant. Fantastic service with hard works and lovely relax ambience. special thank you to the GM Luca for the smooth running evening made our night off work. One of the best with had for long time. Thanks to the chef quality food and our chato was cooked to perfection yummy yummy! Well done. We will back for Sunday roast next time.
O. K.
Food was amazing apart from some soggy crackling (which they replaced) but the service was poor. Had to ask after 20 minutes if we could order some drinks, they took ages to come, and then they would often be confused which course we were on because we had 4 separate waitresses. Great food at the end of the day, but the whole meal did feel disjointed.
When you're paying £30+ for a roast you really want it all to be great.
J. C.
Went for breakfast, and the whole place just feels tired and dated. The food was distinctly average and the service wasn’t any better.
The Bloody Mary was excellent though, and the live guitarist was very good too, but ultimately you go to a restaurant for its food and it seemed to be resting on a reputation that it had earned years ago but is sadly no longer living up to it.
A. D.
An exciting part of London, Roast based in the market, so plenty to explore before food. Beautiful surroundings, clean and relaxed environment to eat in. I had the Belly pork with mash and assorted vegetables which was absolutely beautiful, the cauliflower cheese is a must. Excellent and attentive service. If you are looking to dine near here Roast is a must!!!
P. C.
Seven of us went here for a late festive lunch. The food was very good but the service was extremely cold and unfriendly from every single staff member in the place. No warmth, no smiles, no friendly chat, no asking if the food was OK. It seemed the last place the waitstaff wanted to be was near anyone’s table.
To cap it all, an £84 bottle of wine was mistakenly(?) added to the bill which we were lucky to spot. When we pointed it out there was no apology, no concern, the bill was just snatched away and the correct one returned. I don’t think the entire staff said more than a dozen words to our entire group in the five hours (bar then restaurant) we were there.
This place needs to get its service fixed. I know there is a hospitality staff shortage at the moment but that’s no excuse for miserable service. Very poor.
M. D.
For the amount of spent on food and drink, I would expect there to be toilet paper on the toilets and I would not expect to have to remind the restaurant to deduct the deposit from the bill nor expect items to be charged for that we didn't even have. Ohr table was booked for a specific time, yet not ready when we arrived and there was no where for us to wait for the table to be set up. Poor show from management, great staff and great food. Shame noone looks after the facilities or bills as otherwise everything else was lovely.

My wife took us their for our 8th year anniversary...really beautiful place in a great location over Borough Market...
Decor was nice and very relaxing atmosphere...I particularly appreciated the seating arrangements just felt relaxing and comfortable. Really chilled atmosphere our waiter Giovanni was very attentive and even offer is knowledge and opinion on the cuisine...Will certainly be back
C. H.
Good food in a very nice spot. Great ambience, and service. Overall it was a nice dining experience, but not on scale for the price. Unique menu items helped, but steak was a tad too done. I believe some of their daily specials would have been nice to try, but the locals clearly love this place. I was unable to give this restraunt 5 stars.
A. A.
Booked a dinner with friends. Getting seated was a fiasco in itself.
Exiting the elevator, you're met with a very small welcome area, being it was Christmas season and seating was slow, it got crowded very quickly... not great in COVID times.
The food was just okay, not the quality you would expect for the price.
Also, avoid the scallops... you get a measly 2 for £16.50! nice, but a waste. I recommend the lychee mocktail for any non-drinkers - best part of the meal for me.
Staff were nice, considering the pressure they were under, and the restaurant looked very festive which created a nice atmosphere., though it was almost as cold inside as it was out!
Wouldn't got back, but enjoyed the experienced.
R. S.
Arrived on a Tuesday evening without a booking and got a table for 3 after less than a ten minute wait at the bar. The decor and atmosphere of the place was nice overlooking borough market, but felt a little cold. The service was good. The terrine and dumplings for starters was ok, the scotch egg was nice. The main chateaubriand roast was good but I've had better in this price range.
P. J. P.
One of the top spots in London when meeting with a wide group who may have diverse wants. Classic British/European cuisine, done extremely well.
C. P.
Great food and beautiful venue located in the heart of vibrant Borough Market. The food is delicious and if you go there for lunch, their set menu will cost around £35 for 3 courses meal and a glass of procecco which is not too bad. Overall, the food is incredible, especially the raviolis and the sticky toffee pudding. Some of the dishes are pretty traditional, for instance, the leeks and potato soup is nice but quite bland to my taste, as well as some of the pies, nice, but not that different. Still, it is a must go place around London Bridge, especially for business meetings.
N. M.
Welcoming place where you definitely get a good selection of wine, amazing food with great taste and presentation. And some inventive touches on your plate. The majority of the staff was friendly but a few couldn't get a smile on their lips. We were with a large group of 21 but they managed to serve us more or less at the same time.
R. M.
Best meal out for us since pre pandemic. Every bite was incredibly tasty and was had wonderful service too. Lovely evening out
(Roast ... service was Especially good from the young lady with the short brown hair, very petite)
D. J.
Very nice local restaurant with great authentic food. The staff are all very nice, and extremely welcoming. This place is amazing and totally worth the price charged. Their attention to detail and choice of dishes is superb. Each dish has its own unique flavour and the food is very succulently delicious. This restaurant is definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
A. L.
UPDATE: Save room for dessert!!! Delicious!!! Best vegetarian menu in what would typically be an all-meat kind of place. Really happy with everything we got! Couldn't even fit in dessert, the portions are generous!
N. S.
First tip: Marc's Delight cocktails are wonderful! Give them a try. 2nd tip: if you're going on sunday for the set roast menu, make sure you're hungry! We reserved a table for 2pm. Seated at the table and looked after by 3 different but attentive wait staff. The food was well cooked, remained warm and if I didnt feel that my stomach was going to burst, could have easily have asked for more! There are many places to go and eat in Borough Market so they have done well to create an atmosphere and a menu that begs a return visit
M. E.
Top restaurant !!!
Very high standards, high quality of service, treated like royalty.
Menu is superb, high end venue, cuisine style small portions, but what you get is beautiful.
Lovely wine list as well.
Very nice atmosphere & pleasant very professional staff.....
N. M. C.
Just had a fantastic client lunch at roast. Great atmosphere in the dinning rooming and the food was lovely. Special call out for the Sommelier Andrea, incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and professionally and helped us pick out a few cracking wines.

What was once a floral hall inside Borough Market, is now home to Roast, a beautiful British restaurant with amazing views. To get there you need to walk to the Roast food stand in the market and go up in the lift. You are greeted with a flood of light from the floor to roof windows giving you superb views of the market and the city.
We visited Roast to try their afternoon tea in Borough Market. As we visited during Wimbledon, the alcohol option was a tall glass of extremely good Pimms. Usually you get a glass of champagne with your tea instead (£30pp). The non alcoholic option is £25pp. If you are there for a super special occasion you can select a bottle of champagne or sparkling wine to accompany your Afternoon Tea (from an extra £13).
There are 13 teas to choose from including some infusions such as the mint tea. The other tea we chose was the Jasmine tea – if you like your floral notes this is a fantastic light tea.
There are five finger sandwiches each. If you have any allergies or dietary requirements, the friendly staff check this when you arrive. The selection included:
Coronation chicken
Roast beef with watercress, horseradish, and mustard
Dried and semi-dried tomato and basil
Cucumber, mint and cream cheese
Smoked salmon and crème fraiche
The sandwiches were wonderful, each one with lovely fresh ingredients. The roast beef was one of our favourites as we loved the horseradish kick. The tomato and basil was gorgeous and reminded us of the flavours of bruschetta.
The scones were unbelievable. They were HUGE with a lovely crunchy outside and a super fluffy inside. You receive a generous helping of clotted cream and jam preserve.
This was served with two slices of cake – Strawberry and Pimms layer cake and Coffee and Walnut cake. They were so soft and fresh and absolutely delicious. The shot desserts (Sticky Date and Strawberry Eton Mess) tasted amazing and were gone with two spoonfuls, so just enough to tickle your tastebuds. We really enjoyed having two cakes with two much smaller desserts so we were not horribly full!
This was a fantastic Afternoon Tea in Borough Market with superb service, reasonable prices and amazing views. If you are a lover of Afternoon Tea this might just make it into your favourites list!
J. P.
Not a bad roast dinner at all. Nice starters - their scotch egg is very nice (ha!) and efficient if slightly indifferent service.
C. d. S.
Great location around Borough Market.
Oysters well presented but was hoping for more flavour, maybe it was due to the type of oysters which I'm not used to.
Excellent Roast after choosing the chateaubriand for two. Nice to see a Yorkshire pudding with a roast. Delicious gravy and also a bone marrow gravy. Roast potatoes are nice and golden.
Nicely presented cheese player and delicious Apple and rhubarb pie and custard.
Most of our table were surprised our waitress finished her shift and left without no handover leaving our table lost for not having any service until we found a replacement to take over the table. A new experience..!
K. L.
Amazing food. The starters was delicious, the roast even better and ended with a perfect dessert. The waiters were very friendly. The only thing that let the restaurant down was the receptionists, we turned up on a whim and they judged us walking through the door making us check the menu so we knew the price when we had said twice we wanted to eat here. I found that a shame as it was rude. Putting that a aside I would recommend the food.
A. G.
A really great experience. Staff makes you feel very welcome, everyone is really polite. I would recommend sitting by the window as you can see the Borough Market. The food tastes absolutely amazing.
V. M.
Wonderful food and very attentive staff. Chris our waiter was very good about filling up our glass with prosecco, he was engaging and informative about the surrounding area. Will definitely return for another visit.
S. T.
Sunday roast at Roast. You can't get more British than that. Staff were really attentive and seemed to be well trained. There was always a member of staff around to top up your glass before it emptied. I wasn't impressed with the squid starter, but should have known better than ordering seafood in a place which specialises in roast dinners (plus I'm more of a dessert person than starters). Other two courses were good as my empty plates indicated.
There is a lift to take you up so it's wheelchair friendly. The only downside was that the disabled toilets were behind the cloakroom (a full rail of coats which had to be moved so there were enough room for me to get through). Toilets weren't great either, but at least they had one.
Food was good but a bit on the pricey side for a roast. It's a really lovely restaurant situated above Borough market though... But I'm not in a rush to go back anytime too soon.
M. B.
Good service, bright airy and lively restaurant with open kitchen. You can see busy market from windows. Great wine list. Lots of choices for glass wine including English winery. The food is cooked simply, and well executed.
J. W.
Great venue and pretty good value for money. A little pushy on wine sales, but service overall very good and good was very good. Nice atmosphere and the market itself is a great place to explore before sitting down to eat.

Went today with my partner for roast as she heard the place has an amazing roast. I can not say that it was up to the expectations. The place looks generaly cheap, the chairs and tables are very old and overused and they dont meet the silver service standarts. We started with coctails that were served with edible gold as a garnish which I found completely unecesary and pretencious and not matching the interior. Foodwise, everything apart from the actual roast dishes was either bad or average. The cauliflower cheese was almost raw and its cheese sauce was watery. The oysters had small rocks as they were not cleaned properly which made them dificult to eat -other than that they were tasty. The tenderstem brocoly came without any short of dressing, not even salt, and I was also a bit anoyed by the fact that the pork belly roast doesn't come with yorkshire pudding. It was the first time ever that I went for a roast and I had to order the YP as a side (lol). In general the cooking was -to the least- very basic, we have been served lots of zero-effort dishes which imo is not acceptable from a well known, pricy, silver service restaurant. The service was good, however when I asked the waiter to remove the service charge to tip cash-in-hand (as I was happy with the service but not with the food) he told me that this will cost him even more troubles and he preffered me not to. Not comming back, theres tons of places with equaly or better roast for half the price.
A. A. Q.
It’s one of the best restaurants in borough market.
The food is delicious and the service was great.
We had oysters for starter , it was so fresh.
We had grilled steak, roast beef and sea bass for main course and they all tasted delicious.
And the great finale was the cherry crumble, sticky dates pudding and winter plum pudding.
S. M.
Popped by for brunch. I had the Full Veggie and my partner had the scrambled eggs with smoked salmon -- everything cooked to perfection! The drinks were very good too, but I suppose the coffee itself could be better. Friendly service and a superb ambience with plenty of natural light and a view of the Borough market.
C. D. D.
First time having an afternoon tea. Really enjoyed the experience
H. S.
Extensive breakfast menu with both healthy and extravagant options. Fairly pricey for the portion size, but in a fantastic location overlooking Borough Market and they do a weekday offer of breakfast and a cocktail for £20 if you can make it then. Beautiful, airy room. Great service.
C. C.
Scotch eggs, old spot pork belly and grilled monkfish. Highly recommend. Except ambience and table layout could be better. It was hard to have conversations.
D. F.
Fabulous venue. Very attentive and helpful staff. Meal started well with Scotch Egg and Picallili starter, then started downhill....
Chateau Briand was very tasty and cooked to perfection but, had better roast potatoes and Yorkshire pudding at a Toby Carvery!! Tasted like cardboard!!
Uninspiring cheese board at the end was a shame.
Over priced for what we ate. Won't rush back!
A. R.
A lovely lovely friend treated me to lunch and it was totally delicious! I've never had an onion soup with mini onions in it before. Wow! My steak was cooked well done. So flavoursome with a rich peppercorn sauce. The gluten-free date and toffee pudding with clotted cream was to die for! My cocktail - vermouth based etc. was pretty strong, that I was glad there were several ice cubes to dilute it! Service was first class! All in all in a bright, airy restaurant overlooking Borough Market. Definitely a birthday highlight for me!
G. S.
Great place to go for a weekend brunch. Friendly staff, good atmosphere and tasteful food presentation. The only thing is that the taste is average. The food could definitely use more salt and spices.
C. S.
Really enjoyed my lunch at Roast, although the menu wasn't quite as extensive as I would have liked. The service was attentive, as you'd expect and the wine list supported the choice of meals for all. Really good point is offering a carafe for those who don't want the table choice but still want more than a glass.
A. L.
I work for a 5 star hotel and I rate experience and interaction with staff with a high expectation.
The 3 on rating was due to the reason that the look the hostess gave us upon our arrival and my partner interaction as he was looking for our friends who was waiting at the bar was of snobbish attitude. This is mainly due to our clothing.
We were out all day sight seeing and didn't have time to go home to change so we were jeans and nice long sleeve t-shirt.
Solid 4 star for the food, esp for London. Flavor was good and nice presentation. Order fish and chips just to give it a try. Fish was not fishy with just enough light batter. The chips/fried potato was perfect.
The service was great from our waiter, and wine recommendation was good.
K. D. V.
Great setting above Borough market. Buzzy restaurant. Service was fine. Food above average, however felt food & wine was a little overpriced.
P. C.
Great ambience, over looks borough market. Sommelier just needs to refine his knowledge of regions of French wines slightly ... But overall good value
S. B.
Truly excellent food in a great location above the bustling Borough Market. The set lunch menu of £30 for three courses was an amazing price for such innovative, high quality food. While the waiting staff were friendly and helpful, however, they could do with some more training as their professionalism was not up to the high quality of the food.

Took for ever to bring my table their food, when there was hardly anyone left but we got free drinks on the house. But still the food was good
E. B.
Great location but unfortunately was abit disappointed by the level of service and the food. Was expecting more given the price point. Not sure I'll be going back in a hurry.
M. P.
Great ambiance, really buzzing at lunchtime as it's located right in the middle of Borough Market. From the bar area you can look down on to the market below, which on a Saturday is quite an amazing sight. Food is very nice but pricey. If you're after a cheap lunch this probably isn't the place to choose. Our party was there to celebrate a birthday and we were't rushed through our meal or asked to move off the table, (which often happens in London restaurants) so that was a plus. Good wine list but again, quite expensive.
P. R.
Nice restaurant with views over the market. Food was nice (4 ⭐), but staff was below average. We needed to remind them several times our orders. The Borough breakfast is highly recommended!!
p.
Really good menu with a range of dishes and prices. I had oysters and the scotch egg to start with both really good and the oysters were very fresh! For my main I had the suckling pig which was a daily special, would highly recommend, it was cooked to perfection!
S. L.
It's my second time here, and I was looking forward to the Scotch Eggs. I remembered it being fantastic and so I made a mental note to have it again.
I sat down, opened the menu and suddenly remembered how expensive this place was. The menu was pretty limited too. I ordered a Scotch Eggs as my main, even though it was a starter on the menu. The waiter asked if I was certain.
My friends ordered the roast pork. It was still as good as I remembered it to be: tender and with an incredibly delish crackling skin. Yums. We ended off with the sticky date pudding.
I had a good meal anyway. My biggest complaint? Water wasn't free: it's £3.50+ per bottle of water.
R. G.
Pretty good for Sunday lunch; but a bit pricey and a bit get-you-in-and-get-you-out. Roast potatoes to die for, though. I've enjoyed this place a bit more for dinner.
E. G.
Expensive but delicious, with impeccable service.
D. A.
Great spot overlooking the market. The restaurant has a lovely bar area and the restaurant is a large bright airy space. The serving team are excellent and were very attentive.
We went for the three course roast and both felt that the starter and dessert were the best (outstanding) part of the meal. For the main we felt that they could have offered an extra jug of gravy rather than me having to flag someone down to ask for some. Also the yorkshires were cold. These are actually very minor points but £146 for the two of us meant I expect it to be perfect.
Def recommended though if you like your roasts?
S. S.
Not sure who are these people that give 5 stars. This is your very average restaurant with some standard food at a higher price due to its location. On top of this you get inattentive service
S.
Up there with some of the best roast potatoes I've had with a roast. Slightly overpriced for the overall service experience.
S. H.
Been there for lunch before and liked it but now that I experienced the brunch I really love the place!
I had the Full Scottish Breakfast and was so pleased with it! The dish was a real feast celebrating best of meat, veg and eggs. The staff were good enough and service was fast.
I'm a bit surprised with some of the other reviews. Yes, it's an expensive restaurant so go there only if you are prepared for 'high end' food and prices! Also it's a popular location in the heart of Borough Market with great views so it will be very busy most of the time. So with that in mind, book ahead and go there prepared for a real buzz, then enjoy simply fantastic food while taking in the iconic atmosphere of Borough Market.
R. T.
Great setting and lovely food.
Service was surprisingly poor on the day we visited, would not return.
A. D.
We were looking for a place to have an English breakfast in Borough Market and found this restaurant. We had a very nice moment and really enjoyed the food we had. Our dishes looked really nice and they tasted really good.
J. E.
Have been a few times and generally been very good and reason took friend for birthday lunch but disappointing meal today. Roast was apparently delicious but cod fish dish was not great. White beans undercooked no orange flavour to be detected also lukewarm. Ordered summer greens and carrots arrived without carrots which had to ask for twice and clearly rushed as some were very undercooked. My personal view is that you need to do better for the price.
J. H.
Great food, service and dining room. Expensive but good value. Busy all day on the Sunday we went.
R. B.
Oh so nice. Not a very good picture but couldn't concentrate on anything other than eating the food. Bit pricey but hey what the hell it was worth every penny. Just one niggle the waitress serving our table was as miserable as sin.
a. s.
A maz ing. Sunday lunch. Pressed ham and chicken. Scotch egg. Potato dumplings. Roast beef, roast lamb and chicken
n. a.
Had to wait a long time for our table to be ready. When waitress ask what we would like she wasn't paying any attention and was talking to a colleague. Amazed we got the right food. Lovely food. Over all service terrible and would not recommend on this basis!
J. K.
Wonderful food lovely atmosphere
A.
Really delicious beef wellington
M. S.
So-so now. Service v erratic. Meat ok but not special. Pim’s massively too sweet. It used to have the best roast beef, gravy, crispy roast potatoes, hand-shredded horse radish etc you can get. Now it’s just expensive and v average.
M. W.
Superb. Been here several times. A grand dining space with a contemporary feel and lively atmosphere. Menu always has lots I want to eat! This time it was the Beef Wellington. I wasn't disappointed :-)
T. E.
Fantastic place for an upscale Sunday roast. Reserve a table and try the Beef Wellington
K. D. F.
Simply excellent!
Our meals: 1x 48-day beef. (1 adult and one children's portion)
1x Lamb shoulder
Desert of:
Apple crumble
Sticky toffee pudding,
Roast is an excellent company serving brilliant food with a side of outstanding customer service. I would like to give a special thank you to our table waiter today, Chris. Chris offered some great recommendations, especially the passion-fruit mocktail.
Thank you for your services today.

A 5-star experience all round. The food was exquisite, the service impeccable, and the wine (an English Rose) was the perfect compliment. We will definitely be returning, and I thoroughly recommend Roast to anyone in the area.
N. D.
Excellent dining experience. We took my Mum there for her birthday and she love it. The food was tasty, the portion sizes were generous and the service was incredible.
M. G.
Food is delicious! Great place to have an upscale authentic English roast dinner. Nice atmosphere.
S. G.
I booked the Roast does Burgers menu. Great service & value for money. Would have been nice to have a dessert option, even just ice-cream.
P. v. d. B.
Oke, location of course fantastic, food so so. Staff also not really attending. They could do much better at this place.
N. M.
Great food, not cheap but quality food in the right atmosphere and right company is worth every penny!
S. J.
Went for afternoon tea for my hen do. It was lovely food was really nice. The cakes are so lovely. And the service and all the staff in there were great
S. T.
The food is just incredible. Best Chateaubriand I've ever had, served with banging roast potatoes and a massive Yorkshire pudding. I was too full for dessert!
T. J.
Staff attentive and enjoyed my birthday lunch!
A. H.
Nice view from the restaurant over the market. We had oysters and the dry-aged beef. The quality of the food was very good and the staff was attentive and friendly. I can recommend this place.
K. D.
Really nice. Chose the 3 course menu and was enjoyed although the portion size of the main was large.
C. W.
Oysters were very good and wine list excellent. Great menu for kids too.
Z. R.
really enjoyed my breakfast here, good atmosphere and great food.
L. C.
Delicious food and drink, great service and warm, comfortable atmosphere. What's not to love?!
S. S.
The only reason I’m giving this place 3 stars is because my chicken was cooked well. Aside from that, my friends and I were quite unhappy with the service. It took about 1.5 hours for our mains to arrive, and another 45 minutes for our deserts. Not acceptable ! What’s more, my friend has a severe dill allergy and none of them were able to tell her whether the herb butter sauce that accompanies the fish had dill in it. They had to check multiple times (even though she made it clear she had an allergy - why would they bring the sauce to the table in the first place ?!) and ended up having to call the manager to check. For the price we’re paying I would have accepted better service. Would I ever go there again? Probably not. There are tons of cute restaurants around borough market that you’d be better off trying out.
J. E.
Lovely afternoon tea. Friendly silver service great venue
J. S.
The beef wellington is delicious. Fantastic views of Borough Market to add to great food.
J. G.
Food was good, service was chaotic and the manager (I think) oddly argumentative about a drink mistake
M. H.
Fantastic environment, great food and very good service.
I. C.
Well worth the price tag! Great food, well prepared and excellent service to match!
J. J.
Great food, staff attentive without being intrusive. Great venue.
M. D.
Nice place with delicious food. Slightly expensive as one would expect from such an establishment.
J. L.
Bar with nice view over Borough mkt
a. h.
Fabulous food and great service. Ask for a window table to take in the market view.
L. O.
We feel lucky to have enjoyed dining at Roast many times over the years. Returning this week for a special anniversary early evening dinner, we were treated to another great night. Loved the new cocktail menu on arrival - always friendly welcome. We opted for the superb value three course menu, diverse dishes my spouse and I chose and from my side of the table the chicken liver starters and pork main course were indulgently delicious! The team made us feel extra special marking our anniversary.
L.
Had an amazing Pork Belly and Beef Wellington, highly recommend!
M. D.
Great location and service, however, the afternoon tea, whilst tasty was not worth the £35 per person price tag.
C. S.
A posh Wetherspoons. Absurdly expensive and average food. Waiters all too eager to swoop and scoop your plates and drinks before they're finished, too. There are many better places...
I.
A nice traditional English cuisine serving restaurant over the market. The beef Wellington is amazing.
B. M.
Awesome brasserie experience just above the market the chateaubriand was great as pictured and the drinks were well made - good times had by all
E. M.
Food was OK. Nothing amazing. Service was good though!
L. V.
Couldn’t be more happy with the food and the service! Excellent ambiance!
E. L.
Beautiful ambience, roast beef a bit tough, shame my birthday plate came after the bill 😋😀😜
S. E.
Food was lovely, but a bit over seasoned. Staff very attentive and we enjoyed the live music.
C. d. F.
I had the best time celebrating my birthday here. The food was amazing and they are clearly good at roasting whatever! The view is great if you want to be away from the noise but still see what’s going on in the market. I will definitely return.
H. N.
Great atmosphere . Good service and an attractive building. I had the cheeseburger which was very solid, almost 'bouncy'. The cheese had been cooked away and was almost not there. HOWEVER it did taste good. I think the texture needs to be improved and it would be nice to have it cooked the way you like it. Everything else was great.
e.
Delicious food! Best Veggie burger I've ever had!
G. G.
We celebrated a family birthday at Roast with a party of six including small children. The food was delicious and the room is superb but the service was on the slow side and the high chair wasn’t very good so that our child couldn’t sit properly. When this was mentioned to a staff member, they didn’t apologise and it seemed like they couldn’t care less. Overall not impressed with the level of service given that this is a rather high end restaurant.
j. s.
Nice breakfast I had a full bourgh Mrs had lobster benedict, eggs were a bit under. Odd waiter served us too.
A. B.
Amazing food, fab service, lovely atmosphere!
A. F.
A delicious meal, and a fantastic setting with glass all around. The staff were great too. The downside is the price....I’ve been here before and don’t remember it being so pricey. £24 for a pie is too much, especially when it comes with no sides (£4.50 each). If all meals came with no sides it’s great to share, but some do and some don’t which is tricky to work out. I hope the restaurant reviews their prices as this really is a great restaurant.
R. F.
We absolutely loved our tea time at Roast! It is £25 for tea time with the option to add champagne for £5 which we did. A great value for London! The location was also so convenient for my group. It overlooks Borough Market with gorgeous floor-to-ceiling windows. The food and tea selection was amazing, as well. Roast did a phenomenal job accommodating the gluten allergy in my group, too.
嘤.
Overlook the busy busy borough market. Recommend Saturday's special beef wellington!
J. J.
I opted for the Roast to go counter and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I got a pork belly apple sauce and it was superb, the meat was excellent, there was plenty of crispy pork crackling giving it a great texture. 100% recommending to try it! It's hard to find something on a huge market like this and don't feel like you missed out on something else, but I was pretty satisfied this time. :) I wish the sides were a bit more interesting, I really wanted some vegetable or pickle option because the sandwich is extra-meaty but there wasn't anything. I got a roast potato which they actually fried in a deep fryer. Oops!
D. “. M.
Loved it. Great cocktails, very good food and good service.
I had the Chorizo Scotch Egg to start and then the Beef Wellington. The Scotch Eggs were special. They were hot and full of flavour. The Beef Wellington was quite rare but also very tender and succulent. My only detractor was that the roast potatoes could be a little less hard and a bit more crispy.
In all, it was a little on the expensive side, so reserve it for special occasions.
Only a stone's throw from London Bridge station, so very easy to get to.
A. C.
Very disappointed. We have been regular visitors for many years and the service has been slipping in recent times but on Saturday morning we had a very disappointing time. The food was to the normal great standard but the service was terrible. Rushed service, quick short attention, food was served with no comments, no eye contact and not asked if we wanted sauces or anything. Just dropped the plates and run. We had to attract attention to get service for sauces, we had to attract attention for drinks, for everything. At no time did any staff checkin or keep an eye on us. We felt like we was at a self service bar. They could have improved their P&L with extra food and drink if they had been the slightest bit attentive. It’s so sad as it’s been getting poorer over the past 4 years and being local we use to enjoy it here but I don’t think it will be anytime soon that we will return. When paying the bill I did politely give feedback and they did remove the costs of a drink plus the service charge. However I would have rather paid in full and received better service.
M. M.
Good customer service. Nice welcome. Personally I feel that everything was mega overpriced. Beef Sunday roast was very disappointing indeed, it was not tender and there was an excessive amount of gristle. The Yorkshire was overcooked. The veg selection was dull, just plain carrots and cabbage, considering the cost. Better veg at my local. Will not be reccommending. Nor returning. It was my birthday celebration and I felt completely dissatisfied.
V.
Great for breakfast. The Veggie breakfast is very tasty and incredibly filling. I will be back again!
A. T.
Very welcoming and well-spaced tables. Prompt and attentive service throughout. The menu is a little constricted for my taste, but I chose the chicken escalope as a main course and it was delicious.we were looked after very attentive and friendly staff, Staff is very friendly and the food is high quality. Really recommend!
S. J.
I went for lunch on a Saturday afternoon and it wasn't particularly busy. The service was poor and took a long time for our order to be taken, giving us only water while we waited. The menu is nice and plenty of option and the food was good, but not amazing for the price that they charge. I have had plenty of amazing roasts at half the price they charge. The main disappointment was the staff and how unfriendly they were, didn't seem very happy in their work to be honest. I would not rushing back there again, poor to average for the price they charge.
O. N.
Excellent restaurant near London Bridge. First of all the French fries were very good, and this is hard to say in London. We shared a mix of dishes as usual so we could taste various foods. The pork roast was out of this world, and the beef excellent (knowing this is British beef). Portobello mushrooms were amazing. Even the fish fingers my son took were perfectly cooked. It is not cheap, but it is worth it.
M. S.
Beware the misleading pricing. I thought we'd treat ourselves to the fixed price menu, which was actually quite nice especially the pork, but not outstanding. However the cheapest wine was almost £50! Oh well I thought we'll treat ourselves. As I said the meal was nice, the staff were attentive, but then the expected bill of £120 came to £175! For 3 people! The menu prices were excluding VAT - I mean, who does that? I wish the stall downstairs had been open when we went in. I could have had a pork roll for a fiver and been just as happy. Only in Luxembourg have I paid more for a meal, but that really was a fantastic experience. Avoid Roast or try the meat from the stall instead!
PS the acoustics in there are terrible when full. Hard to talk to each other or the waiting staff clearly.
M. M.
Amazing food, great service...thanks Salvatore
S. L.
Great food and fast efficient service. The three course Sunday lunch is the one to go for - good selection. The main food options are great, only weak aspects of the meal were the roast potatoes - not as crispy on the outside or soft and fluffy on the inside as I would have liked. Otherwise perfect.
K. Y.
The roast is awesome and the sticky toffee pudding too! I'd definitely go back there again for any of those! I wish the service was a bit better organized and calm! The waitress serving me was going around like a rocket and didn't even give me time to say thank you or please because she didn't really have the time to wait after I ordered for example! Still, the food is awesome! A bit over priced but I would say it's worth it once or twice...
L. C.
Great food, terrible service. Went with a group afternoon tea for a friend's baby shower, took them over 20 minutes to actually bring food out or offer drinks. The afternoon tea did not include a hot drink. Had to ask for drink refills as the bottle of prosecco we ordered was not at the table. Water was not kept topped up, and we might as well have gone to wetherspoons for the attentiveness of staff. More hassle than it's worth
P. W.
Great food, friendly staff, and true local upscale dining experience. Kid friendly, make reservations, and sit back and enjoy. Everything was great from starters to Main course to dessert. Located in the shops around borough market so quality is superb.
K. M.
Good vegan options
S. P.
Went for an afternoon tea with a friend and everything was delicious!
S. B.
Service was great. Food was delicious. Would recommend and go again.
S. E.
Not worth it. If you are going to charge £30 for a roast dinner, it has to be spot on. Roast isn't. The potatoes were leathery rather than crunchy, the lack of vegetables (unless ordered as a side) was a kick in the teeth. In its favour, the meat was good and the gravy rich. But that's pretty much it. Save your cash and get a roast in a nearby pub.
N. S.
Delicious ox cheek and desserts! Very professional staff as well
V. L.
Roast is one of my favourite high end restaurants in London and for reason. The food is excellent and the service is impeccable. Although not the cheapest of establishments, the premium you pay is well worth it. For breakfast I recommend the Full Borough. My favourite for dinner is the exceptional Beef Wellington, which you can only get on a Friday. Superlative stuff.
A. D.
Modern British cuisine in a lovely setting. Limited choice if you don't eat meat but they do have a couple of fish and vegetarian options. The wine list is excellent although the cheapest bottle starts at around £30. Very attentive staff and a fantastic desert selection. Only lost one star as I felt they were big on the up-sell and didn't inform us that the still water was not free (which appeared to be tap in a kilner bottle). Otherwise a great venue
I. W.
It was the best meal I have ever had in my life. Their service was impeccable. I ordered my roast medium well and upon first bite my mouth was filled with the most savory meat I have ever had. Do not visit London and not go to Roast. It is a true proper British roast meal
R.
A traditional English style food restaurant in the busy Borough Market. The setting is rather modern and airy and the service seemed to be rather effecient and friendly. I would say it's mid-priced for the city. The food was tasty and well cooked as you'd expect at this level. There was a wide selection of drinks and the wine list especially good particularly if you fancied trying wines by the glass.
E. M.
We visited Roast on Saturday afternoon and although the restaurant was full, we were looked after very attentive and friendly staff, who is also very knowlegable and helped us to choose from a big variaty of dishes. The food is amazing, pork belly and sticky pudding are to die for, and the portions are quite big as well. I will definitely recommend this place to my friends and family.
Y. L.
3 x vegan options (starter, main & dessert). The starter was delicious but unfortunately the main was a bit tasteless, it had no flavour at all which was disappointing as it had so much potential; I could have made it better myself at home. It’s a shame that less effort is put into vegan options especially when the demand for it is growing so quickly. I didn't eat the dessert so cannot comment on that. On a side note, a few staff could probably do with some more training… and I would bring an extra jumper as it gets quite cool in the big open seating area!
G. C.
I haven't sat down to eat here, only having taken away items from their storefront in the Borough Market. They serve breakfast items earlier in the day and then a choice of sandwiches are able for purchase at a reasonable price. I think that Roasts presence within the market is rather good. The entry was that of the Floral Hall of the Royal Opera House near Covent Garden erected here it provides additional character.
V. O.
Great restaurant..lovely food and friendly staff
G. S.
Usual good food as long as you want to eat meat. Would use more often if 2 or 3 fish mains on menu.
J. G.
I'll regularly enjoy a take away baguette from Roast when wandering round Borough Market so was keen to do the thing properly. The place seemed super busy so service was a little slow but very polite. Ordered Pork belly, which actually turned out to be more of a Porchetta dish and although the meat was deliciously soft I found the accompanying veg to be a little standard. A touch on the pricey side overall I'd say.. Though the Earl Grey infused Martini I had to start was fab!
D. S.
Great food, and overall a lovely restaurant slight niggle of having to pay £7 for a few carrots and greens, especially when you pay £35 for a main course
A. E.
I came here for Sunday lunch with my girlfriend. We were very disappointed with both the food and service. The main course was lukewarm. We sent back almost raw carrots only to be sent back slightly warmer almost raw carrots after we had finished eating the rest of the meal. The desserts were a saving grace and both were good. The service fairly indifferent and slow. Overall the food was almost good but fell down in some fairly crucial and basic ways!
My girlfriend had been once before and had a fly in her food, although the service was good on that occasion.
The restaurant itself is in a very pleasant setting overlooking Borough market usually with live music playing (a singer, a pianist and a saxophonist on the Sunday). However, this is all for nothing if they can';t get the basics right like hot food without insects in it!
S. T.
This place had quite a stuffy atmosphere about it. The reception staff seemed to be quite distracted by their headsets, and annoyed at the inconvenience when I wanted to change table (the place was totally empty at the time).
Everyone else there seemed to be wearing a suit and having some kind of business meeting, which also didn't help make the atmosphere any more relaxing.
That said, the table staff were helpful and friendly, if a little too attentive. The food was mostly pretty good, and the children's menu was more interesting than most, although the place did have quite an air of non-child friendliness about it. The food wasn't perfect, and it is definitely overpriced, but the portions are generous. I had a scotch egg in haggis for starter, and belly pork as the main, both of which were quite tasty. The children's fish fingers and chips were less impressive, the chips being somewhat tasteless and the fish overcooked.
To summarize, I don't regret having gone there, but probably won't be going back.
R. G.
I had a fantastic meal for 5 people with my family on Sunday afternoon, 24 April. The scotch egg tasted good; there was no pigeon available at the time though. The lamb with mint sauce was well done as requested & tasted as good. Pudding for me was 5 star: I had apple crumble tart with rhubarb & vanilla custard. You've got to try this pudding!
The children had tomato soup, roast chicken & roast potatoes with steamed veg. They all loved it. My wife also enjoyed her roast beef. I think the 3 course menu on Sunday is definitely worth considering.
It was worth the trip.

Fantastic selection of burgers

Nice food but slow kitchen. Booked a table for breakfast, table for two. Coffees took 15 minutes from order and breakfast food took 40 mins, full English and salmon scrambled eggs. All nice but other busy restaurants can do much better so won’t go back
J. L.
Located inside and on top of a local market, this restaurant offers traditional British food, cooked with fresh local ingredients probably obtained in said local market.
Before I dined at this restaurant, my opinion of British cuisine was rather...low. I had to adjust this opinion however, and I apologize to the entire United Kingdom for belittling your contribution to the culinary world to the standard fish & chips.
My only gripe with the place? The main dish we ordered was _way_ too big. Tasted fantastic, but we were completely filled up after the main course, and would have enjoyed our desserts even more if the portion was of a more acceptable size.
But all in all, four well deserved stars!
T. W.
Okay but I wouldn’t rush back! We went for the traditional Sunday roast lunch. A set menu for £40 consists of a starter and a choice of roast main courses including vegetarian and a desert. So on the surface it appears to be quite good value for money. However their version of a Sunday roast does not include vegetables which I pointed out to the waiter as being quite strange and not typical of an English roast! So we reluctantly had to order all our vegetables separately and on top which added quite a bit of extra to the bill and suddenly wasn’t the same value for money. However the waiter very kindly brought this to the restaurant managers attention and didn’t charge us for three portions of vegetables - however I dare say that the many other diners were all paying for their vegetables and the restaurant was making quite a bit of money on top of the £40 per head! There were a couple of occasions when there was a communication breakdown with the serving staff and instead of a bottle of red wine we got a glass of Chardonnay and instead of a tequila we got a gin and tonic. But this breakdown in communication could have something to do with the atrocious accoustics in the restaurant which made it difficult to have clear conversations without straining to listen and hear. Another bugbear of mine is when restaurants serve a bottle of Coke in the 200 ml mixer size instead of a full 330 ml sized bottle of Coke, obviously trying to boost their GPs!! Last thing to remember should you visit is to order tapwater as we were given restaurant -filled filtered water which really is just tap just going through a filter but charged st £2 a bottle! Service from our waitress was not very attentive, and we had to wave our arms several times for drinks and then again for “forgotten at the bar” drinks. All in all just average all things considered.
L. C.
Food fantastic. Staff friendly and efficient. Very enjoyable afternoon.
R. W.
Great food, for vegetarians and meat eaters. Fantastic staff. We were the last people to leave the restaurant (without realising) and not once did they ask us to hurry up or pay the bill. The mark of excellent service. We enjoyed the English wine selection too. Highly recommend if you're in the area. Nice views of St Paul's.
J. A.
Amazing food! Great location
J. H.
Nice restaurant with good views of borough market. The food is good but it's over priced in my opinion. There wasn't much jus with the château briand so we asked for more and an extra Yorkshire pudding and were charged for both. Bit cheeky when the dish already cost £75 for 2 and was rather modest portions. Service was great and a decent selection of wines.
C. S.
The most amazing dinner. Not cheap but worth EVERY penny. Possibly the best beef I have ordered. Friendly good service. Bright atmosphere, wonderful pre dinner cocktail
H. A.
Loved this place. Great juicy steak with amazing spinach and nutmeg cream. Delicious full bodied Malbec.... custom made for roast. Wonderful views of the crowds at The Market Porter pub. And very good table service. We'll be back.
N. T.
Great place to get a traditional English roast in a more upscale restaurant.
We came to roast with international work visitors who wanted a traditional roast - instead of taking them to a local pub, we took them to roast to give them to upscale surroundings of a nice restaurant with the food they wanted and it went down a treat
M. W.
Lovely food and amazing service with great ambience
J. M.
Food was amazing. Staff friendly and happy to help. Very quiet this was a surprise..
K. H.
The service was pleasant, so are the views of the market. But the food is very average and very overpriced. The vegetarian roast was just roasted veg - with a side of veg(!) in 2020 this is very disappointing.
W. B.
Postmodern architecture, full of light and arches play home to a great collection of British wines, and some fare, if not slightly expected British cuisine. It wouldn't take much to revitalise this place. Firstly an update of the photography, and the ladies uniforms would be positive start as the receptionist look like late 90s air stewardesses!
The big issue were the mains. Where the starters were exciting and delicious the mains felt conventional and unappealing. We just bought a handful of starters and didn't regret it for a second.
H. C.
So me and the wife went here for Sunday lunch the service wasn’t great felt all lapsadasical. We had the set menu which was lovely but!!!! Please please don’t mess with a rice pudding and put flowers and stuff on it!!! A rice pudding should be served on its own!!!! And you would have got 5 stars.
J. C.
Good food and dining...very busy...
C.
Had a nice experience here. Good selection of wine and some excellent bottles from Hush Heath in Kent. Good food with good choices. It can get quite loud in the restaurant so be prepared for some noise- adds to the atmosphere.
p. s.
The wine list was fantastic. The Yorkshire puds are humongous. Quite pricey but the atmosphere, service and food more than make up for it. Totally worth a visit.
K. F.
Great food! Menu was literally made for me; prawn cocktail - beef wellington - Apple crumble :)
Only complaint - I'd like a bigger piece of the wellington!
D. B.
Good food and generous portions. Friendly service and relaxed environment. Visited on Sunday afternoon. Was a flying visit on my part, rather than advanced booking and leisurely afternoon. Will definitely return sometime when the market is open too, in daylight hours to better soak up the ambience.

Went there last night with my parents. It was average at best. Roast potatoes were overcooked/old. The yorkshire puddings were overcooked and dry. The meat was actually undercooked I think, and it wasn't a great cut either. The atmosphere is quite nice, but overall it's way overpriced for the experience I had.
T. A.
I was a bit disappointed having had high hopes. I went for the roast beef which goes against my general principle of only ordering things I wouldn't make at home. While the beef was nice the Yorkshire pudding was extremely disappointing and chewy. Also very expensive which was certainly not justified by the quality.
A. G.
Great experience, fantastic food. Well taken care of and felt very secure during current covid times. Staff was very friendly and helpful.
T.
Great location great restaurant pancakes were lovely
K. D.
The food is served in a beautiful way, the restaurant has high standards, but I must admit the fish dish I ate wasn't the best I had (or even one of the best). The waiters and very attentive and super helpful though. Decor wise, if you are sitting at a large table (for us it was a party of 6 - it was rather hard to talk, as you could not hear the people on the opposite side)
S. C.
Had the pork belly for dinner - the staff very graciously substituted sprouts/bacon for the potatoes. Generous portion that fed me twice. Absolutely brilliant to sit near the kitchen and watch the chefs gently handle the meat.
Friend had monkfish tail: tasty, but according to her, not worth the price.
In short, go for the pork belly.
N. R.
I was excited about visiting this place because I'd heard good things, but I was pretty underwhelmed. The atmosphere and service was pretty stuffy, and a pet-peeve of mine is when restaurants cram too many of you on to one table when you've booked a while in advance. I had the pork belly, which was overwhelming in it's portion size, and not very flavourful. The location above Borough Market is good, but I think I would have rather eaten IN the market rather than above it! Expensive roast food, with not much option if you're not in the mood for a very heavy meal.
T. L.
Roast is a beautiful restaurant perched above Borough Market so you get to see the market in full swing while you dine on British food. Inside the restaurant is buzzy and has a semi open kitchen. They have various menus from the Market Menu which we tried and enjoyed it very much. It was good value at £30 for three courses - all top notch! If you are there for Sunday lunch you can take the left overs home with you and get recipe cards for ideas (all about reducing waste). This is a restaurant with table cloths and professional staff so its a real treat. Great for business lunches, special occasions and if you want to treat yourself!
K.
Sunday lunch visit. Food was ok, not special and quite pricey. For a table of 8 all eating Sunday lunch we were given 8 individual dishes of roast potatoes and 2 small dishes of green beans, no other veg. Bizarre.
A. B.
Absolutely fabulous, tucked away in Borough market with large windows to let the morning sunrise in. I ate here for a breakfast business meeting and it definitely put the fun back into breakfast! Great service and it was nice to see them sell everything from the typical fry-up to healthy green smoothies. Been raving about this place to my friends. Love the idea.
J. W.
Had a lovely lunch at Roast on Saturday, was a spur of the moment choice due to my Birthday. Ambiance, food & staff very good, only complaint was:
Although we both chose the £30.00 per person set menu, I fancied a different starter, waiter said I could change the starter & pay the difference if any more but was charged the £30.00 + £10.25 for replacement starter.
This did not ruin my day, just left me feeling a little bitter.
S. P.
Over priced meal set in a large room, where the ambiance is sterile and the acoustics are way too loud. One of the waiters asked if I wanted another beer, which I declined, then promptly took my glass, which still had beer in it. There are definitely better places in London for a roast. Skip this tourist trap.
F. V. H.
We enjoyed their great cuisine - my kids loved how 'Fish & Chips' were offered. The view on the nearby market is really worthwhile: you sit almost on top of the market. Good offering of excellent wines.
T. Y.
Get the sticky toffee pudding (£7) - absolutely delicious and not over the top sweet. The clotted cream on top is so smooth as well.
The roast beef (£27) isn't as bad as some people make it out to be, mine came out a good medium rare and the roast potatoes quite unique as they have a crunchy shell but soft interior. The pork belly (£25) is also good but can be a tad fatty (as with all pork belly).
L.
Went and had the set menu which comes with a glass of prosecco. The cheese soufflé starter was very tasty, also had the lamb which was very comforting. My friends had the mackerel which was beautifully presented. The wine list is extensive and the staff were attentive. Our waiter did lay it on thick trying to up sell up the extras though.
I. J.
Light and airy dining room with a well-formed and regularly-changing menu of modern British fare. The ingredients have good Provence and are mainly uk sourced and credited.
Portions are generous.
Staff are numerous and attentive.
Wine list is interesting with the notable inclusion of some excellent British wines.
There's a real buzz about the place at lunch and dinner. The tables are set close so it feels intimate.
It's not cheap but you don't feel fleeced, given the location, service and quality of the food.
S. X.
had Roast to-go instead of dine in. Was trying to get Sunday roast the other day but they only do long lunch and no dinner option unfortunately. Love the pork belly sandwich ! really crispy skin and good balance between fatty part and lean cut. For lunch to-go it's good pricing as well.
R. D.
I have only been here for breakfast, once, but what a place to have your first meal of the day. I started off with a nuclear strength bloody mary, one of the best I have had. Fantastic service and a near perfect meal. The chef has taken particular care to use the highest quality ingredients that are responsibly sourced, all from the UK. The best thing about Roast though is the view over Borough Market you get, there is probably no better place for foodies in London.
A. S.
Three stars based on breakfast. I opted for the lobster (natch) on a muffin with poached eggs and hollandaise. What a glorious indulgence it should have been! The dish was lovely but essentially my friend and I paid £21 each for a, albeit perfectly, toasted muffin, two poached eggs and some hollandaise. The lobster was scant. It was like they scraped out the dregs from the shell of a lobster whose meat was used for a mightier dish. Barely any of it. I did very much enjoy the toast and marmalade side though and it’s a beautiful place to be with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking the market. I’d go again, next time choosing something like the full English-style brekkies instead, which looked very good.
N. R.
I'm so disappointed to have been disappointed with this restaurant.
I love their ethos : fresh, seasonal and local.
However on the two occasions I have been (both with clients), the chicken/fish have been dry and overcooked (presumably having sat under the lights while the heavier meats were prepared).
I was unable to complain at the time (as the clients were uncomfortable), and wrote an email explaining that the first occasion was perhaps a one off, but twice in a row was a concern.
I received no reply or acknowledgement to my email, and have refused to recommend or frequent this place ever since.
b. k. e.
Everything was perfect, the food, the location and the personnel were very nice and very helpful. The food timing was excellent and there was a lot of things to choose from. The prices were very reasonable and it was the perfect place. I highly recommend this restaurant.
C. L.
Unfortunately I can only give Roast 4 stars, due to the very disapointting treacle tart, however if not for that I would of happily given them 5*'s. Its a fantastic location, upon arrival we enjoyed having a drink at the bar watching the hussle and bussle of Borough Market. The staff where all charming and the food deliscious, you could really tell the quality and the freshness of the ingredients. Was a very good lunch and definitely worth a visit!
J.
Pros - absolutely superb coffee (one of the best I’ve ever had); lovely setting with great views over Borough Market; friendly and informative staff.
Cons - on the expensive side (but not excessive).
E. A. C.
Been coming for years. Great bar for a drink and to watch the market. Recommend dorset crab, scotch eggs, game, beef. Reasonable wine menu. Variable art on the walls! Good English food and wines. Book in advance. Excellent roast pork sandwich available from their small stall outside for lunch!
P. M. T.
Satisfying and comforting food. Service is top notch. Location is brilliant. The only thing that could do with a little attention is the decor which has begun to feel a tad dated. Otherwise a fantastic dinner choice.
D. B.
Fantastic dinner and a really nice setting above Borough Market. They often have collaborations showcasing some amazing British food and drink producers and the overall quality of the food is great and really good value.
K. B.
Cannot recommend more. Situated just above Borough Market, have a stroll around before hand then enjoy a traditional English lunch. Highly recommend the 80z burger on a Saturday. The service is great and the decor is very lively situated in an old flower market.
k. b.
7 people booked for a special occasion a 60th birthday. We asked if we could moved to a round table, that was declined. 5 minutes later another table was accommodated to the round table. Next problem all 6 meals came out on time, one fillet steak was 15 minutes later, everyone at the table was finished!
Not good!
R. K.
Went in for a quick bite with my family. It's definitely an upscale type of deal. We felt out of place in shirts and shorts, and my father's wallet no doubt squirmed at the sight of pre-set wine glasses and two sizes of cutlery for each seat.
This is not an establishment frequented by the peasantry, for sure. More like a chaffeur-holds-the-door-of-your-Bentley-open-for-you customer set. Gents, a prime date location, but know your table manners. In fact, if they had a booklet of table manners to peruse whilst awaiting the food, that would be excellent, as I never did figure out what the double cutlery sets were for.
As we were in a bit of a rush, we inquired about the cook times and got a surprisingly vague answer, given the atmosphere of sophistication. Nonetheless our orders arrived relatively quickly. We did not sample any of the roasts, eyeing more familiar dishes.
The portions were (likely) par for the course for a fancy place, but subpar. Their burger was sizeable and juicy, but at roughly 20-something pounds, I would have to max out my credit card to afford it. For a similar price we received three, maybe four modest scallops in a dish. Lavishly decorated and garnished, no doubt by all manner of expert chefs - but be sure to have the butler withdraw a CD or three before coming here, just in case.
My dish, an avocado crab cake, was perhaps two inches in diameter and an inch thick, for nearly two hours of American minimum wage. To its credit, it was quite nice. I am not a fan of avocado, but the dish worked very well for a smooth and delectable flavor palette, set off by strips of green apple on top and a drizzle of greenish sauce on the plate. It makes for a bit of messy eating, but I would have it again.
I didn't get the side of mushrooms I ordered, and the waiter made no mention of it. Maybe your net worth has to be six digits or above to qualify for receiving your order correctly. At a hundred pounds for a light five-person meal, it's an experience, all right.
Oh, and they charge you for bottled water, brought in refillable jugs and suspiciously indistinguishable from the tap stuff.
The views (it's on the second floor!) and the atmosphere are favourable overall. A fitting setting for fine dining, just be sure your card is fit for equally fine spending beforehand.
C. P.
The ambiance is good, and the staff were really helpful, but I was disappointed with their Sunday Roast. The vegetables were good but the roast beef were incredibly thin and not that well cooked. It definitely wouldn't make my list of top 10 roast
M. P.
Venue has good ambiance and the setting is nice. Service intitially was poor but improved when server was changed. Food was good rather than exceptional. Wine however was far too expensive with the cheapest bottles starting at £45.
R. R.
This is a lovely place, excellent staff, excellent service, excellent food.......
HOWEVER..... The prices are extortionate...... Ridiculously so!!!! Avoid if you ar on a budget. Go for the experience if you can afford to do so, but if you are like me, once was enough..... as nothing can justify the cost. At least I have a shocking story to tell !
M. G.
The best service we’ve ever had in the UK along with exceptional food, we were 7 adults and 1 child for a birthday celebration and it was an evening that exceeded expectations. We would recommend Roast without reserve.
S. C.
Great restaurant. Stunning architecture and design on the 1st floor. The food was superb and quite reasonably priced with a voucher. Service was friendly and attentive.
N. W.
One of the best restaurant meals I've had in a long time. The service was absolutely superb. The staff here are very warm, friendly and attentive.
B. M.
Great service and an even better beef wellington
G. A.
A very peaceful place to relax, drink or eat or both. A lovely welcoming atmosphere.
S. T.
It is hard to resist not grabbing a sandwich at Roast to go when at Borough Market. Even though there are so many great food stalls, this place is special. The pork belly sandwich with crackling is amazing! Definitely worth the wait.
A. W.
Set menu had good portions (I had the pork belly) and the service is good.
A. D.
Food nice but REALLY slow service. Our bread came halfway through our breakfast after asking 3 times, we had to actively search for a waiter and flag down 2 people for the bill.
A. Y.
I am reviewing the Roast stall which is located underneath their main restaurant. The stall is on the ground floor and located near the other stalls in Borough Market. This place has one of the tastiest Roast Pork sandwiches I have ever had by far. The crunch of the crispy pork skin and the well-roasted meat is just to die for. Accompanying the pork is their well-made Bramley apple sauce on their fluffy baguette. All this deliciousness (a generous serving of pork) for £6.50! I do not like their steak sandwich that much though.
C. G.
Really great food, we went during breakfast and it was delicious. Only slight let down was the coffee. Not bad enough to take away from a great meal, but a great coffee would have made this perfect.
A. B.
Nice easy walk round and nice for a mooch and shopping for a thing or two
K. G.
Good customer service. Main course beef was ok from the set menu. Starter and dessert amazing. Baby 🥕 and apple crumble and rubbarb for afters. Price for two good but would not rush to go again
R. B.
Roast is a definite 4.5 / 5, great location, very popular and it has consistently good food (especially the roast). The breakfast, for anyone who is up early enough is devine. If the tables weren't so close together then I would be scoring it a definite 5/5. If you are near Borough Market, (itself well worth a visit), book a table (in advance) and enjoy...
C. C.
Among the top three cheeseburgers I have eaten in 60 years. Beautiful setting and architecture. Professional, attentive, friendly staff. Well worth the tab.
E. A.
We visited Roast last year. Our table looked over the market area and had a great view of St Paul's across the roof tops. The food was very tasty and I would recommend the starter of Scotch egg wrapped in Haggis.
D. L.
Good location, food was good, not too badly priced considering location. Only annoyance was the restaurant does not include beans as a standard as part of their full cooked breakfast. It is a side item for £3.25!
K. N.
This is a strange review to leave - Roast were brilliant, their concierge was so great when we arrived and learned that the restaurant wasn’t a vegan restaurant. He was so understanding (and didn’t even need to be prompted as to who I was - knew my name as I approached the building)
If the concierge is anything to go by the restaurant must be nothing short of amazing - next time I will have to visit on my own (I’m not the vegan in the family)
P. S.
Roast is sublime. You cant get anything better than this. The food is incredible. Bravo. The roasts are amazing and it is surprising how many different types of roast there are. I like to try a different dish each time and I am constantly surprised and delighted with the menu options
T. E. N.
This is an excellent restaurant with nice live pianomusic.
Very nice with locally produced products like Meantime London Lager.
There is a list in the back of the menu of where the different products are produced.
I let the vaitor decide gin for a dry martini and red wine to the main course. Excellent choices.
The food where in large portions and i also got some cheeses that i had for dessert in a to-go bag.
Highly recommended.
Y. K.
DELICIOUS!
Cold pea soup, doesn't sound appetising? Try it!
The pork belly with copious crackling, apple sauce and mash was divine, definitely the star of the show...
We were too full for a proper dessert so opted for homemade ice cream and sorbets which again - delicious. My taste buds can't wait to go back! One for a special occasion :)
One complaint: the pianist/singer on the night was awful. Awful. Thankfully he didn't play/sing all night.
W. B.
Fabulous food, service and setting.
C. F.
Been there a few times now, good standard of British food. It can get quite noisy in this big high ceiling open space, and its not cheap, therefore the 3 stars. Other than that, I liked it!
A. B.
I recommend trying the Potted Loch Duart salmon.
Also, the Braised red deer shank with sour cherries is mouth-watering. The atmosphere in Roast is stylish - you can't enter with your casual clothes. Think about the dress code, wear your favourite official outfit and have many exciting moments in this elegant and contemporary restaurant.
M. R. T.
Great hidden up-scale place in Borough Market. Great for client meetings. Good drinks selection. Nice view over the market. Quite on Sundays if you like some romantic dinner.
G. L.
Very good restaurant! I had a cod fillet with avocado puree and black olives. The fish was perfectly cooked and the skin was crispy.
S. L.
Food was ok, not great value for money (30£ for starter and main which you can find elsewhere for around 20£)
J. B.
Wow - totally took me by surprise how amazing this place is. The views and the light that streams in from the huge windows is nothing short of spectacular. The breakfast is pretty good too. I will be taking my wife and kids there for sure one Saturday soon.
N. B.
Great spot for brunch. 5 out of 6 people ordered a variation on the menu and everything arrived as ordered. Food was scrumptious and service attentive. A new family favourite when visiting London.
W. E. T.
best beef cheeks i've ever had!!!! we came for dinner and the hulking windows allow you to catch the perfect sunset over london bridge. staff were attentive but not overbearing, and while the food's a bit pricier than other options in the area, it's definitely worth it for a nice evening out.
H. H.
Not worth the money, and for that amount you expect it to be without fault. Potatoes and sides were clearly old and dry. Mains were OK, but not great. Everything cost extra as well. Service was nice and friendly, but not enough to make up for the gap in value. Overall I wouldn't recommend, as there are any number of better options in and around the market. Disappointing.
J. P.
Great place. Staff: attentive, polite and charming. Food, excellent. Ambience: friendly, if you wish and unobtrusive if you wish. Christmas lunch, exceptional. Love this pla e.
M. S.
Decent enough place for lunch meeting although a little on the pricey side for what you get. Roast lamb was a bit bland and fatty. My colleague had the pork belly which was clearly a better choice.
S. G. T.
Whilst in London from the northern wastelands of Haworth Yorkshire we enjoyed a fabulous and healthy breakfast of Kippers (Me) and Eggs Avocado and Sour Dough Bread for my wife. Not pricey and highly recommended
E. R. R.
Excellent restaurant. Went with a large group and the service was impeccable. Atmosphere is relaxed but fun, and the duo playing at the bar adds a nice touch. I'm glad though that I didn't have to pick up the bill.
J. v.
Very nice but not many vegetarian options. In my opinion it's overpriced, but the food is good and it does have a lovely view over Borough Market.
C. D.
Was a bit apprehensive as I don’t normally go out to eat English cuisine but I was not disappointed. The food was very well presented and tasty as well as excellent service.
k. b.
A real gem of a place in the heart of Borough Market. Superb choices on the set menu and service. Somellier was on point. Mouth watering cuisine. Open kitchen and lots of natural lighting with the big windows.
A. S.
Terrific veggie breakfast, great views, killer bloody Marys.
A. C.
Afternoon Tea was really delicious here. The view from the bar area of Borough Market was awesome, and the aromatic tea combined with the tasty food made for a very enjoyable afternoon
D. L.
This place is the best place in the whole of Boro Market. The views are amazing, the food is absolutely outstanding and the daily cocktail is always fantastic. The only downside is the cost, but I reckon everyone has to go once in their lives.
E. A.
Ah, the famous Roast. The place is truly amazing and it's packed at lunch and dinner hours. The food is always fresh, considering all the people who eat there. It's also suitable for a family dinner or even a business meetings. The online booking is a nice extra feature.
G. R.
Nice surroundings and location but massively overpriced for some pretty average food. Service was terrible with very inattentive waiters. Lunch for 4 cost nearly £250 (with a bottle of wine). The chicken dish was £19 and was nothing special.
T.
Phenomenal service. Food was amazing. Cons: VAT and service charge are excluded from food cost on menu. A pro but also a con: shots are always doubles. Definitely recommend. Great spot!
A. D.
Food was okay, although I'd prefer to keep it simpler. After bringing me a plate with a dessert the waiter joked, quote, "are you modelling tomorrow?" — wasn't nice.
J. S.
Roast is a great restaurant to visit for a fantastic breakfast before going to visit the superb Borough Market. Very child friendly offering colouring and jigsaws for the kids allowing you to enjoy the papers in peace whilst also offering a truly gastronomic experience.
J. C.
Does what it says on the tin, lighting is a bit bright, and the setting a little bit like a school hall, but food is good, beef Wellington was delicious!
M. W.
Stunning venue for a proper sunday roast. Fantastic view. Open kitchen. Welcoming. Attention to detail. Killer bloody marys. Terrific staff who were keen to help and accommodate us.
E. G.
One of my favourite restaurants in London. The view down onto borough market is amazing and the food is always out of this world
A. S.
Cauliflower steak was amazing!!! Food and wine - fab. Sat in the lovely over hand mezzanine too. Lovely atmosphere.
M. C.
Overall decent quality for a hefty price. Not impressed that main courses don't include veg though - and the vegetable side dishes are waaaaay too salty.
C. U.
I love Roast - right in the heart of the market :-) Great food, great service, amazing views. Have the pork at lunch or come for breakfast on a Saturday amid the hustle and bustle. A little pricey (for what it is) but worth it.
D. M.
Lunch sandwiches are nice. Breakfast here is woeful; extortionately expensive, tiny portions, Full English arrived cold, and was served by rude staff.
A. F.
Easy to get to. Good service and food, albeit the portion sizes are on the small side. Prices are reasonable, and the atmosphere is chilled.
J. Y.
Got the pork belly and cracklings. The cracklings were crispy and delicious but definitely quite greasy! Meat was ok but not quite as juicy as I'd like. Happy to try it once but probably wouldn't go back!
b. d.
A fabulous treat! The food was delicious and beautifully presented. Staff were friendly and attentive. Excellent value. Wonderful experience
M. R.
Good breakfast, but for limited time on Saturdays. Good place to eat lots of meat. Room is a nice big open space. Awesome location overlooking the market and great view of St Pauls.
S. C.
Delicious bar menu items and amazing coffee and cocktails!
S. L.
I have been to this restaurant many times since it opened and it never disappoint! Whether breakfast, lunch or dinner, the food is yummy and the service good. One overseas friend claimed it is the best restaurant he has been to!
J. A.
Amazing food, great atmosphere and really friendly staff. Take a look at their cookbook too! Don't forget to bring a big wallet, the prices are on the upper end of the scale
Z. V.
The services here were great. The staffs are friendly and accommodating. The atmosphere was fine. The dishes themselves are fantastic. I would highly recommend this place.
S. P.
Great food, but service is a bit underwhelming during busy periods.
H. W.
Food was ok. Certainly not deserving of the price though. Mediocre all in all
L. M.
a place for every occasion, romantic dinner, birthday, groups - they cater for everything and the staff is very nice. Definitely one of the best roasts in London
P. B.
Great British food. They are known for their roasts. the waitress broke two wine glasses while serving me, must have had a bad day.
S. B.
The best roast dinner you will ever have, Id recommend the beef Wellington, but whatever you choose its cooked to perfection and will be a sensational meal. Love Roast
G. C.
Great lunch venue. Excellent food. Polite service. Locally sourced. What's not to like...maybe a tad pricey
J. M.
Excellent service and really good quality food. We had our 3 year old with us and even he love'd it too. Definitely got pork belly busted myself. Yumyum :-)
J.
Top roast from roast. The huge Yorkshire puds are amazing and a wine list to die for. Corporate or date .....either way it's a must visit
S. B.
Always good food & wine. The room is light & special sitting above the market. I noticed a great view of St Paul's for the first time.
A. F.
Absolutely top quality food, couldn't fault a thing. It is however very pricey for what you're getting. Go but be prepared to spend!
S. S.
An excellent restaurant overlooking Borough Market. Prices are high but the food is tasty and refined. I recommend the three course set lunch menu.
A. N.
Great venue, shame about the food. Maybe we got an off day as friends who recommended it rate it but sorry thought the food was quite disappointing.
T. T.
I haven't been to the Roast restaurant, only the Roast To Go stall in Borough Market. It's not cheap by any means though the pulled pork sandwich was the best I've had! Worth a try!
V. F. R.
The service and food were excellent. I had the market menu, and everything I ordered was delicious: celeriac soup, braised feather and apple crumble.
S. S.
It is worth travelling to the Borough Market just for the Roast Pork sandwich from their stall in the market. The food is excellent and as long as you are willing to queue for a few minutes you will not be disappointed.
s. k.
an oasis of calm amid the bustle of Borough Market and London Bridge area. Sits one floor up above market floor Basically it's great British classic style cooking, with good service
S. D.
My favorite Saturday afternoon snack is tied between Northfield's Salt Beef sandwich and Roast to Go's Roast Beef sandwich -- which runs out faster than you expect. Worth standing in line and worth asking for it to be lean. Smile at the staff, and they will treat you amazingly.
H. B.
Perfect for a Sunday late lunch!
Meats are amazing, waitresses and waiters very kind. The 3 courses menu is just what you need ;)
C. M.
While the food was good, the service was very slow. We had to ask where our dessert was and our fellow diners on another table had long finished before ours had arrived.
E. H.
Expensive, but a very slick restaurant. Food is great, and all locally sourced (given its location above the market). Seating under the glass roof gives it some wow factor.
e. a.
Delicious beef Wellington and good hospitality from staff. A pricy lunch but quality isn’t cheap.
F. D.
5 stars for taste and quality of food
3 stars for the service - only because of the extortionate service charge!
1 star for value for money.
I wish that we went for the pies being sold below us.
Will we go back? No
M. S.
Great food and sizeable quantities too. The service though just isnt quite there.. nice people but communication sometimes, umm, a little tricky.
V. M.
Great food, super staff. Thank you for getting us a table at short notice.
T. K.
Consider this place to be totally overpriced, given that the quality and type of food is no more than slightly above average pub food. For £45 for two I would have been satisfied, for £90 definitely not.
L. N.
Beautiful food, but sadly the service and decor are not amazing. I think there are a lot of other places in Borough that are better value for money and much friendlier staff.
C. K.
Went there for breakfast and had very pretty pancakes :)
M. A.
Really good food and service. Good space, too. I'd go again in a heartbeat. We took 10for business. Well worth it.
E. L. d. M.
I cannot visit Burrough Market without stopping here. The Roast Pork is OMG the best sandwich in the city. Full of crackling and well accompanied with apple sauce (i only wish they had an apple chutney to add some heat)
B. D.
Superb food and service in a great location that allows you to enjoy Borough market, near one of the world's most iconic landmarks, London Bridge.
H. A.
Wonderful location in the Borough Market, Southwark. Portion sizes of the main dishes were huge! It looked like my friend had been served an entire chicken.
B. C.
People have been telling me for a little while now how excellent Roast's Pork Belly is! On my lunch break today i decided to take the plunge and purchased a Pork Belly Sandwich from their take away stand at Borough Market. At £6.50, a price point not to be sniffed at, it wont be a featuring regularly in my diet but then again thats probably for the best - waistline-wise. The sandwich was delicious: tender and crispy in all the right places. If your a fan of pork belly and are in the area why dont treat yourself. #finegentsfeast
N. A.
I had a nice breakfast here last weekend – bacon, roast bread, grilled tomatoes, eggs and fried potato balls with an aromatic dark coffee … mmm yummy … I’ll definitely repeat the order next weekend.
b. o.
High end yet laid back in setting and food.
