Reviews of Rotunda Bar and Restaurant
G. K.
Great restaurant with a lovely selection of dishes to choose from, plus a stunning Christmas menu. I believe there are vegetarian and vegan options as well.
Me and my friend had a set Christmas menu, and we were very pleasantly surprised with the great quality of the food as well as friendliness of the staff and management.
I believe we had for starters - the soup and butternut squash mouse, mains were - cod and cauliflower steak, while the desserts were - pavlove and deconstructed black forest gateau.
All the dishes were presented beautifully and tasted great. Absolutely no complaints and will be definitely coming back to try the main menu.

Rotunda can be found tucked away through 90 York Way and opens up into views of the canal near King's Cross where there is a large outdoor seating area so great in the summer months. The servers were attentive and showed/discussed the various cuts of meat during a late lunch I had there. Not a huge selection of food but certainly enough something for everyone, which I like. We had the sharing sirloin which was delicious (and I had a crab meat starter). Plenty of drink options including wines and flavoured Gins as well as draught lagers. It isn't the cheapest place but not completely over the top. Looks like it could build a nice atmosphere going into the evening.

It was a pleasure to find this surprising restaurant on the ground floor of Kings Place. It has a lovely snaking terrace right on Regent's Canal. The menu is straight forward and the food well composed. Georgiana was the best ever! It got a bit chilly and they brought us some fuzzy blankets. Variety of seating on terrace including backed benches, Cafe tables, and larger group seating. A very pleasant evening.

Cousin had his 40th Birthday party here. Staff were excellent glasses always topped up.
The food was amaziingggggggggg the Cauliflower Gratin, my goodness best style of Cauliflower I've ever tasted! The lamb was lovely, seasoned well.
The venue is really great too, nice outside part on the canal.
Not sure what continent the food is from.
But a friend mentioned Rotunda means Round about in Portuguese. So maybe there's a Portuguese link??
I most definitely will be returning soon.
Even just to hang out and have drinks, i felt somewhat posh being there......

We wanted to watch the Hungary-France match and found this place. The staff members were very proactive, professional and friendly. The manager was asking us how the game was, had some friendly chat.
Attached picture of our starter, goat cheese souffle, delicious! 😋
We had a great time, the food was amazing and brilliant service!! Definitely would like to come back!

Amazing bar and restaurant with stunning canal views, first class service and delicious food and cocktails.
Special thanks to our fantastic waiter Reuben who treated me and my date like royalty and could not have been more attentive, professional, friendly and efficient.
Highly recommended and we'll definitely be coming back soon - Rotunda is the ideal place for catching up with friends for Sunday brunch or a dinner or lunch.
10/10

Lovely views of the canals and nice location when visiting Kings Cross area.
Had the lamb dish for main which was exceptional.
R. K.
would have been better if the weather was nice and we got to sit outside. had their burger for lunch which was good not great. but we had great time overall because of friendly staff and atmosphere.
J. E.
Came for the beers, wine and laughter. All 3 delivered and turns out the food was great as well. Really good service too. Location is great. The entrance is a bit strange being tucked inside the building it's in but once inside it's fantastic.

Lovely - Sam Turner is great! - my only constructive feedback is to warn veggies that they don’t get gravy with the toast. But a carrot sauce. Which is lovely but when you expect something else it’s nice to be warned :)

I don't usually do a review, but I was celebrating my anniversary last night, and we chose @Rotundalondon for this special occasion. From the starter to desserts was fantastic. Cocktails wow, my favourite was Paloma Punch, so complementary to the chef because Cote de boeuf was totality splendid thanks to service team 10/10 without hesitation I recommend this restaurant.

Service was great, aside from that the food quality was really lacking. The three course Sunday lunch menu, whilst sounds good for the price, was disappointing in execution. The lamb was so dry and overcooked, I can't recommend the Sunday roast. Sticky toffee was stingy in the sauce, no problems with getting more though but it should be a given.

Lovely place, wonderful staff, great food. Love it here.

Fantastic place and setting. Very knowledgeable and attentive staff, delicious food and wine. A very nice experience and can’t wait to come back especially to the outside terrace.

Great service and wonderful food..the texel lsmb was perfect.Reasonable prices for london.Would go there again.Ine draw bsck, card payment only.Lovely canal setting

Great views of the canal, great drinks and great food - definitely recommend the pizza and the village bread. Ideal spot for large groups!

Fabulous! Great place on the canal. Friendly
Staff, great food, and the Espresso Martinis 🙌🙌

Had a great time there! Went with a larger group and they manage to accommodate us with less than 24h notice. I had the mushroom truffle soup, steak with truffle fries, and tiramisu cheesecake. They were all really good and I will definitely return there in the future.
P. P.
Excellent service! The team members were so accommodating to our group of 40+ people. It was our first get together since lockdown last year so they made the experience very enjoyable. The outdoor terrace by the canal is brilliant. The food and drinks were of high quality too. Would highly recommend!
T. B.
Really nice bar/restaurant with beautiful views to regent's canal. Cozy atmosphere. Blankets offered on colder days, evenings. Keep in mind that this place is a bit harder to find. Staff very professional and polite.
N. T.
Amazing food and staff. Lovely indoor and outdoor design. Great night thanks.
W. L.
Great friendly service, lovely vibe, beautiful views of Little Venice canals. Food was delicious. Be aware that some seating looks directly onto the glass meat fridge with hanging carcasses of pigs, which is certainly a little uncomfortable, but as long as you get to choose your table, it's a lovely restaurant and bar.
L. K.
We went for dinner and sat outside. It’s a nice area by the river and have a lot of outdoor seating. I would probably only go for drinks next time. The food was okay, but not really worth the price.

It was a nice space, we got a nice table overlooking the canal, service overall was kind but food service was very slow.. Few things ordered were forgotten.. Food was OK...expresso martinis were good
G. T.
Lovely place - nice atmosphere and decor. Great food and excellent service. Toilets are a bit of a walk but otherwise everything was great!

I'd been once before and the sunday roast was delicious along with the other starters we had ordered. However today the food wasn't up to scratch. Not sure what happened, if it was a different chef but the vegetables seemed stale, old, overcooked and hard. Imagine reheating leftovers... that's what it tasted like, it just didn't seem fresh. Regardless I didn't make a fuss as to not ruin the atmosphere with company, we ate, paid the bill and service charge.
The waitress then had the gall to come back to our table and say we were 6p short on the bill, which frankly I think is ridiculous considering service charge isn't even compulsory. She could have taken the 6p off from that. Are they not embarrassed to come running back for 6p? Lol. I think it's rather pathetic and has put me off going back, which is a shame as this is my local for sunday roast. I think I'll have to contact management about todays experience. The cocktails were okay, not really worth the price, better off going for bottomless bubbles if you go at all...
C. K.
Very nice bar a great place to go for a drink with friends. The drinks were reasonably priced, but the place felt upscale. The nibbles were delicious and the staff were so lovely and kind.
L. L.
Definitely worth a repeat visit. We chose this restaurant as we were going to a performance at the Kings Place and wanted to be close by as we were short of time. Staff were lovely and got our dishes out super quick. It was a shame we couldn't stay longer.
I was very pleasantly surprised with the menu. Being sensitive to wheat, I often struggle to find interesting dishes.... usually they're an after thought or a poorly adapted 'wheat' dish. Not at Rotunda, there's several starters and mains which are unusual, well presented and tasty. All good standalone dishes that happen to be wheat free. Thank you.
We tried the Pollock ceviche and spiced corn taco; Crab, pomelo, chicken skin, sea herbs with avocado purée; and buckwheat pasta, hispi cabbage, hazelnut cream. The hazelnut cream sauce was exquisite... The pollock ceviche was fresh with authentic echoes of Mexican tacos. I could easily have had 6!
The crab was good too, but the other dishes blew me away.
Looking forward to visiting again.

This place is made special by the lovely terrace alongside the canal that they have. Without that this restaurant wouldn't be special and I probably wouldn't go.
However they do have it, so it is.
It's also nice that part of that terrace is undercover so you can still be dry if it rains, although if it did rain I'd rather be a window looking onto the terrace than in it.
The food is modern European and very nicely done, their wine is also well thought out and nicely done.
Their chef evidently knows what they're doing and things are cooked beautifully.
The services good and very attentive. They evidently don't have enough to do as sometimes they come to the table looking for something to do when there isn't any and half of their time speaking to each other because there isn't enough for them to do. However that doesn't take away from the fact that the service was faultless and it was very easy to get the attention of the waiting staff. Perhaps they could have been a bit more casually friendly, but they did do things properly.
The annoyance is the online booking which does not say if tables are 3, you are basically just enquiring. It just says that they will contact you back to say if they have a table and I had to call, as after an hour and a half during the time they were open they did not get back to me.
C. C.
It was lovely to be able to dine outside with nice the weather that day. The waiter and waitresses were very helpful and attentive. The food was ok nothing exception but the place , scenery and lovely music made it just want we needed for that day.
M. B.
Pretty confusing getting the actual place if I do say so myself :/
The food was good had a nice burger with truffle chips. The cocktails are not all that and are overpriced. Lousy decoration on 1 of the cocktails my friend ordered. The glass was so tiny. I think it was a champagne mix one with sorbet just splashed on the outside. It's covid you can't lick it off lol that was just so bizarre to me because who thought to do that.
F.
Such a beautiful place to eat, lovely, causal fine dinning. I didn't take any picture but I enjoyed my food and the staff where so friendly. I will definitely visit again!
T. B.
Had a great burger lunch while watching the 6 Nations Rugby. Tasty beef! Also went back the next day for Roast Beef Sunday Lunch which was excellent. Really liked the Roast Potatoes and Veg. Would come again when back in Kings Cross.
O. W.
We booked a private weekend lunch party for 14 adults and 7 children on their outdoor terrace, overlooking the canal. We felt very well looked after, and the food and drink was very good, and certainly plentiful, so we and all our guests had a wonderful time. Compared to other venues we looked at, the price was very reasonable.
D. S.
Very good, very friendly staff, they care a lot about you, steaks are excellent, I highly recommend this place to spend a nice dinner out, good selection of drinks I will recommend espresso martini, and the cote de bouf steak for two is incredible, and the lava cake as well, will come back for sure.
K. K.
Great experience at the Rotunda. Fantastic service by our hostess Chika, who answered all our questions and left us wanting for nothing. food was promptly served with fresh and tasty ingredients. Highly recommended, Chika is brilliant and her recommendation for the rum and banana cake was spot on. We will deffinately be back for more.
K. M.
Nice central location plenty of tables with cover and blankets for cold weather. Quick customer service and tasty food . Highly recommend the summer cocktails!
S. S.
Nice food, good service, relaxing view of canal boats going by.
D. G.
Six of us went for drinks and dinner here, we all had something different off the menu. The food was delicious and well presented and friendly and efficient service. The Rotunda has a lovely corner canal-side setting. A busy but not frenetic buzz about the place. Five star food without five star prices.
C. C. F.
It is ok...food was not that great, but good service. Also quite difficult to find, signage needs to be bigger. Nice views of the canal.
L. S.
Vegan option for the salad was lovely! Service was great and the staff are friendly and very accommodating 👌🏾
P. P.
Overall, good decor and mediocre food. Positives - All meat in the dishes is truly excellent, top class! The place is very nice, very well decorated with comfy spacious seating and nice open kitchen. Negatives - All of the sides, vegetables, little bits to start were very clearly prepared waaaaay in advance by people that didnt care and added to the plate by people that didnt care either. The service is very attentive but only once nudged.
I. S.
Unfortunately scoring the place so low due to ridiculous prices for drinks and food, yes it's London prices but the food was nothing special. The service was adequate, the gentleman that was seeing to us appeared to become rather irritated when we asked small things.
Sitting outside along the canal was nice, shame about the weather, obviously nothing to do with the bar. I'm sure on a nice day it would have been a rather nice view. You can find more unique and interesting places for less money if you explore a little.
T. T.
Lovely, relaxed and open space both indoor and outdoor option. Could be better signposted as I only found it via Matchpint website to catch football game.
L. J.
Great place for drinks on the canal, lots of room with plenty of outside and undercover seating. Got heaters and blankets. However, we ordered a pizza and it was pretty mediocre. Don't know about the other food. Would go again for drinks just for the canal seating
P. T.
Nice bar for drinks and food facing the river. Tends to get a little bit too crowded and loud in the evenings. A bit too pricey for a bar though.
P. A.
Marvelous. Came for a simple lunch and had the shared beef. Amazing food, service, and view. Worth every pence.
S. N.
Really good food, my steak was superb, and so much better than any normal theatre eatery. I was impressed.

What a lovely venue. Is it a complaint to say fris were too salty for me? 😁
A. M.
Brunch was quite disappointing, with lack of flavour and odd combination of tastes. However matching prosecco was really nice though and friendly staff.
Better for drinks only!
A.
Everyone who attended this lunch was impressed with the service, setting, value, and food quality. Rotunda is a great venue for small medium and large gatherings. We will return to this venue.
H. L.
Had a lovely time at Rotunda. Great service, especially from the lovely Scouse waitress. A beautiful spot to have a few drinks. The loo is a bit of a trek but apart from that it’s great!
S. H.
Good location and outdoor dining experience. Food was good but felt like my dining party had to keep flagging the serving staff and was a little hard to get their attention. Not sure if this was just on the weekends as the place was very busy.
M.
Such a good vibe in this restaraunt, 5 star service from a great team of individuals, who really took care of us. We will be back again for sure.
S. S.
This place is unique. Great food, terrific selection of cocktails. Perfect place for a summer afternoon meet up with friends by the water.
S. W.
We visited Rotunda for a staff night out. We also wanted to watch the Belgium-Italy match The staff members were amazing and supplied us with a TV to watch the game. The food was fab, I definitely recommend the Corneyside Farm deluxe beef burger, one of the best burgers I've ever eaten! And for dessert you have to try the chocolate delice, it was heavenly 😋
M. C.
Came here for a work event, first time I'd been. It was also the first time we'd all met after lots of new remote hires during the pandemic so safe to say we were a touch rowdy (sorry gang!). Despite this, the staff looked after us really well and were very good natured during what must have been a very stressful Thursday evening shift; I worked in hospo for years and it seemed there were a lot of demanding tables in that evening. Nice place, good atmosphere, clean, and tables were suitably far apart. The team went out of their way to move us around to keep us out of the rain without us having to ask, drinks service was speedy, and glasses were cleared swiftly despite it being very busy. Special shout out to Will (I think that was his name, the server with the bun!) who went above and beyond, keeping us all entertained and topped up (and putting up with me and my tipsy colleagues blathering away to him). Thanks Will & Rotunda team!
E. L.
Fantastic place (if you can locate it), if you do it will be worth it.
Located on the banks of the Canal (there's a clue).
Chose the bottomless Rum option (available from 11am - 3pm), Saturday and Sunday.
Service from the staff was excellent and the discretional 12.5% service charge was really worth it, couldn't fault them.
PLEASE NOTE. They will be closed during the month of August 2018 for refurbishment (whilst in there we couldn't see why - the establishment looked perfect).
D. B.
Nice place with lovely views. The food is ok, but the staff is extremely rude. They removed the food from the table while we were still eating.
M. C.
Good place. I ordered pizza which was good.
Though at other places have found better pizza but for the price charged, I think I can say it was a good deal.
Drinks were slightly expensive. Staff is friendly.
Not sure if will go again and this is not because of anything wrong with place etc but the fact that would like to try other places in the area, especially by the canal
PS: they do have outdoor area but not sure what it's like as we were indoors.
M. T.
Had heard alot of good things about this place, great setting by the canal.
However was really disappointed with the food. Three of us had the burger which was really overdone and dry plus a burnt bun. Would expect alot better for £19. Service was good. Maybe we caught the kitchen on an off day.
M. B.
Friendly staff and beautiful layout. Felt very safe during these pressing times with carefully laid floor markings and a lot of space between each table. The drinks were also lovely and reasonably priced for the area. Sitting outside allowed us an airy breeze and a direct view of the canal. Great experience and I will certainly return!
J. B.
At this time of year, it's a very good place to go for a meal on their terrace. By their own admission they have a limited menu. The roast lamb I had was overcooked as well as everything else with their Sunday roast. I know everyone is struggling at the moment but don't think that's an excuse for the food. The service however was very good and it's a very pleasant place to go with plenty of social distancing. Limited wine list but what they offered was very good for the price. I will definitely come back for a drink on a summer's evening.
J. M.
Amazing service, cool atmosphere and nice selection of food and drinks.
G. a.
The staff are lovely. They really catered for us as a table of 6 in restrictions also for allergies where most places tend to mess up. Great manager, very personable and helpful.
S. B.
My friends and I dined here last night. It is a great waterfront restaurant with modern plush interior. We were looking for a comfortable place with good food, wine, not noisy. It wasn't crowded. This was great for us as we were able to focus on each other 's conversation. Felt comfortable to sit anywhere in the restaurant. The interior was very well laid out. The staff were very attentive, polite and amenable. The food was enjoyable, the burger was especially delicious. The 2 course offer was disappointing in the limited choices. The dishes were all well presented and met our expectations. The wine was perfectly chilled and complemented our food. There is an extensive and well thought out wine list available. All in all a very good evening.
G. B.
Cute views of the canal, great service. The drinks and the food (I got a steak and sweet potatoes fries!) were just incredible. Unfortunately I’m leaving 4*; we were sat by the canal and there were people coming from a gate next to the table, some on bikes. From our group of 6 I was the only one who got an actual plate, my friends got paper ones.
In order to get to the loo you must go thought a lobby and down the stairs then though a lower lever of the building.. Next time it would also be nice to get the steak knife!
Overall we had a good time, huge thanks to the waitresses who brought us blankets!! It was bloody freezing.
A. D.
Lovely place by the canal with a fantastic roast dinner and great brunch options. We were served by Chika who was super friendly and helpful with recommendations. She also brought us over a birthday dessert surprise which really made the day. Would recommend!
P. S.
Great little find - has a superb waterside location, and bar staff and waiting staff were great. Did get pretty busy at the bar at times
V. V.
Had a lovely roast dinner. When pur choice wasnt available the team went off menu to make sure we got as close yo what we wanted. Service was great, food was great :)
A. H.
We loved the food, ambience and their hospitality!
E. D.
Food very good and quality of meat excellent although I feel it was a little overpriced. Service good although the restaurant was very quiet for a Saturday night and lacked any atmosphere. I am not a vegetarian but my friend is and the sight of hanging meat carcasses in a glass case was not really welcoming to any of us when entering a restaurant. I think the menu information and website should sell the meat not a display of carcasses! Perhaps the owners could consider replacing with a fish tank which might be more appealing to the general customer!
A.
Nice food and drinks but service let it down. We were sat outside and it was a mission trying to get the attention of the waiters which made it an unpleasant experience. The table was a bit dirty when I sat down with crumbs so not sure if the table was not clean prior to sitting down. Aside from the table, the restaurant itself generally seemed covid secure though.
T. S.
One of my favourite places to eat. Food cooked to perfection. I had rump steak with honey glazed carrots and parsnips - delicious. Medium rare steak - with rotunda sauce served in a small jug. It was a bit like gravy that you serve with your roast - tasted lovely. Made a nice change to the usual sauces. We were given a choice of seating as it was not full on a Monday evening after the xmas and new year. I really appreciate this as most restaurants stick customers cheek to jowl regardless of whether the place if full or not! Beautifully presented restaurant and helpful friendly staff. I return to it often and it never fails to please.
L. G.
Nice location, but very pricey for what was offered. Most staff were lovely, but some how we ended up with the only rude one!
J. C.
Both Aaron and Simone made our experience the best. Immaculate service and made us feel so special. Highly recommend and very happy with the service from both of them
F. S.
Fantastic service .very welcoming staff. great ambience.
A. G.
Food should definitely have been better for the price. The cheeseburger was £19 and I would have been happier just going here for a drink and then grabbing a better burger elsewhere.
