Great food and great menu! I had the ham hock to start, fillet for main and the cheese board to finish. The only downside was that we were rushed out for another table and it would have been nice to take more time to finish my wine

Such high rating on TripAdvisor and Google made me expect a lot. The atmosphere is nice and it's cool to see the chef cooking. However, the service is just so so. When I ask for recommendations for the main, the waitress kept saying "it's equally good, all very popular, depends on what you want." Not very helpful. You also don't get much attention during the meal. The squid appetizer is nice but nothing outstanding. The base tastes like yummy version of tomato pasta. The main hake is nice but nothing blown me away. For a restaurant 50+ ppl (food only), I've had better. Again, maybe I set my expectations too high.

Got to say, though It's not located on the sexiest street, the owners have done extremely well to make up for this. Inside is super romantic and cute. Went with my sister last evening for celebrations and honestly wonderful service with fabulous food and wine! The kitchen is open plan and the food is done with pure love. You will taste and see for yourself. Don't be put off by the outdoor main street. TOTALLY AND HIGHLY RECOMMENDED. 😊

Had the three course mon-weds three course menu for £39. Started with the froi gras parfait, then had the duck, and finished with the chocolate ganache. The food was ok, none of the flavours blew me away apart from my boyfriend’s cheesecake mousse dessert which was sensational. The vibes were top class - intimate local french restaurant, not noisy so you can have deep conversations if you wish but still buzzy and cozy. Service was good too. Go for the vibes and the cheesecake mouse, would skip the rest. Three stars because I highly value the food.

What a treat! A rare find in London and a must visit if your looking for something alittle extra! Not a normal place with normal food. This is an exceptional place with expectional food serviced by exceptional people. I took my father here for a wonderful meal and he gave a round of applause after ever serving, he was that impressed. Staff were super helpful and accommodating (and friendly!) Every bite here is worth it, it’s not cheap but you pay for what you get. I had the lamb and father the steak and he really did say it was the best he’s ever had. 10/10. As from the other reviews, staff are super nice and will go out of their way if you don’t like something or are un-satisfied. (Spot my dad in the photo!)

Small but amazing is the best description for this place. Very limited amounts of tables. The food was of full great flavours and really good ingredients. The short rib of beef just fell apart and it was packed full of flavour. Good wine selection .

I had a magnificent experience dining here. They have an ever changing ‘limited’ menu, so make sure to get there early before a dish you love runs out. The menu itself is made up of locally sourced meat and organic vegetables which you can really taste the quality of in their food (It’s reflected in the prices, it’s definitely a treat) I got a seat overlooking the chefs work their magic and I would very much recommend dining on the bar. I loved watching the chefs work and the one of one small conversation we got to have with them. I enjoyed a delicious glass of wine and got stuck into a range of dishes. This restaurant has a chill vibe with a dope atmosphere, good for dates and groups.

Food was really tasty, although a bit salty for my liking. It's a pricey restaurant, too (mains £20 upwards). Been here a few times and this week I noticed for the first time service is 13.5% (possibly a new thing since lockdown - not sure). That is too much in my opinion. I paid it though, because the service was good. But when you know many Michelin restaurants charge 12.5% and service is often excellent, 13.5% does not seem in line with what is being offered.

This place doesn't fit a lot of people and the kitchen is right in the middle of everything which makes the dining experience very intimate and cosy. I absolutely love it and would recommend it any time. Go check it out and have the beef or the duck!

Disappointing! We had high expectations for Salut!, unfortunately the food wasn't great. We had the foie gras as a starter, it was completely tasteless, butter would have had more taste. The mains were just okay but not seasoned enough. Fortunately the wine was good and the staff friendly. Still, at £50+ each for two courses and a glass of wine, that wasn't worth it.

MUST TRY !! New menu worth a Michelin star, delicious and innovative ... at a very good price : about 65 pounds each for two with 3 course dinner and a bottle of wine.. The setting is very nice. Casual and intimate atmosphere, only 30 seatings, quite lively thanks to live station kitchen where the Chef runs the show. Highly recommended to couples for special dinner or any type of occasion...and to any food lover!!

Second visit to Salut! After having been there about 18 months ago. The standard of food was up to our memories and we had a second great experience here. It’s a good restaurant but with flaws are not acceptable for the price range. The starters are way expensive for not so brilliant recipes. My steak tartare was just average. The mains were the highlight and my lamb was tender and well seasoned. The dessert was the lowpoint, lacking flavour and inspiration. If it was 30% cheaper it would be an excellent option for a nice dinner.

The place is small & has a nice atmosphere -suited to smaller groups. Staff are friendly and attentive and after chatting to them it was nice to learn that they source ingredients and wines from small businesses and start ups. The menu changes all the time and is quite different. Mains are £20+ per dish and servings aren’t big. The food is well presented and flavours interesting.

Hidden gem in Islington. The open kitchen in the small and packed restaurant provides an interesting atmosphere, like real life masterchef in action. A well thought out seasonal menu with 5 starters and 5 main course to choose from. We had octopus carpaccio and pickled mackerel to start - very fresh ingredients but slightly over seasoned in my opinion. Main courses of wild boar and duck breast - flavours are out of this world!!! All the purées, vege items are excellent and compliments the meat perfectly. Desserts - a must, we had the chocolate slice and figs, what a great way to finish the meal. thank you for a delicious meal.

Absolutely wonderful food. Staff really friendly and helpful. Came here on a Saturday for lunch and we were the only people in the restaurant. Usually I'd think this would be a bad sign but not one bit. Such a shame that there weren't more people supporting what is a really good French restaurant!

Got the Tartare and the beef fillet. Unfortunately the way the tartar was cut was way to thick and chunky, meat was not tender enough. Same goes for the fillet. Meat was not nice. I personally think the cuisine at the restaurant holds some value however I like to think they were perhaps unlucky with the meat that they purchased. Cod fillet was nice but definitely overpriced for the location. (£26/27 I think) Service wasn’t particularly good, however must mention the beef fillet and one glass of wine got taken off of it.

Cosy little spot with a creative menu that changes frequently. The restaurant is small and open plan, I loved watching the chefs preparing the food, you could tell that a lot of passion went into it and very fresh ingredients. I initially stumbled upon Salut's Instagram feed and seeing the gorgeous food photography on their profile, I expected a pretentious and overpriced place. Turns out I couldn't have been more wrong: the restaurant space is small and warm, with an open kitchen so you can see the chefs at work. The staff is really lovely, the wine list great and the food incredible (as beautiful as it's tasty). I'm so happy these guys opened on this side of Essex Road, Salut is my absolute new favourite. Check out the colours and intricate work on those plates!

We have been to this restaurant previously and it was fantastic! During lockdown, we decided to try the three course meal as we had enjoyed the food so much when at the restaurant. During lockdown I had their set menu and it was somehow restaurant quality in taste and presentation, without being compromised by it being delivered - no idea how they pulled it off. My husband and I have previously loved walking or cycling to this local French restaurant for a delicious meal in a pleasant, if cosy, corner restaurant, with great service. Salut! has since proved a godsend during lockdown with its home delivered meals. Each time we booked a home delivered meal, availability was very promptly confirmed, we were emailed the menu, we made our selection and emailed that back, we received a confirmation with serving instructions and bank details to make pre-payment. In our most recent case, we ordered on 30 December in the afternoon, for delivery for New Year's Eve. Fantastically accommodating and efficient! You select from a choice of up to four options within each of up to three courses (entree, main and dessert), with usually around four or five side dishes available. We have also ordered wine and, when the champagne or white wine was our choice, it was delivered appropriately chilled, with the relevant main courses correctly warm and snug in their foil. The emailed warming and serving instructions were easy to follow, clear and happily worked out so that all could go in the one oven for the same time period (usually). Most importantly, the food not only survived the delivery process but worked well as an interesting and balanced three course meal, looked good on arrival or when plated up by us (as relevant) and tasted great. Yes, we had to serve it ourselves, but the flavours and presentation stood up well to the usual in-situ restaurant experience. I t's been great to support a friendly local business and I have been delighted to be able to order from them for "special" yet very reasonable and economical meals at home. Well done, Salut! and we look forward to saying "hi" to you again, in person, as soon as possible. Meanwhile, there's a wedding anniversary meal to celebrate in lockdown, so we'll be in touch again soon!

A thoroughly contemporary menu with a full-range of items from which to select. Attentive and charming staff with a pleasant ambience and an open kitchen with some good wines to pick from. Highly recommend. One can even eat outside if the weather permits and the trees opposite give the whole setting an at times bucolic charms as one gazes up into the London plain trees as they rustle in the late summer winds that buffet these islands. Enjoy - I did and you will. The mini-new-roasted potatoes with herbs are actually delicious and completely moorish... dieters beware! :-P

We ordered delivery from Salut! and highly recommend it. We each had a three course meal and enjoyed every bite. The restaurant kept us updated throughout the delivery and food didn't need to reheated. We had the beets and celeriac, the cod and chicken, and the cheese and chocolate mousse respectively. The only average dish was the celeriac but everything else was amazing. Keep in mind, you may need to order a day or two ahead.

These guys easily deserve 5 stars, from the quality food they serve to amazing service that they offer to their clients, going out of their way to make sure you as a client are satisfied. I have visited Salut! at their location about a year ago and loved the atmosphere, food and their wine list. More recently, I decided to order a lovely 3 course meal dinner for my wife's birthday, which was absolutely outstanding! Our favourite dishes were Chicken Terrine and Potato Gnocchi (these were particularly spectacular). You can simply tell that they use really quality and fresh ingredients and they also deliver on the design of the dishes. Rhubarb Pana Cotta was also fantastic as well. I highly recommend these guys and cant wait to be able to go back into the restaurant when it re-opens up!

Lived just about above this place for three years and never went. Turns out that was a really stupid idea. Glad to have finally corrected that mistake. Wonderful!

Salut! was ace when it was a traditional restaurant and their home delivery is as brilliant as the in-restaurant experience. Lots of care, attention to detail, excellence all in a bag of food that gets delivered for the most reasonable price making you lunch or dinner just incredible and memorable. The food was absolutely delicious – the chef even had my wife loving the cabbage in her main course, something I never thought was possible! Normally she would have asked to have that removed but we remembered the quality of the food at Salut so she took a chance, and it paid off. We were also really touched that Salut went to all the extra effort of making off menu cheesecake for Paula’s birthday, her favourite dessert. That was lovely. The chef is a genius and we loved every mouthful of his/her food. I am sooo impressed with the 3-course menu Salut! is currently offering during lockdown. We'd been to the restaurant a few times, so when we saw they were delivering a special menu, we immediately jumped on the wagon! The best way to describe it is a restaurant-level meal at home. The food is delicious and sooo beautifully presented and the team send you instructions on how long to heat up the dishes so they're perfect the moment you eat them. We have been recommending them to all our friends as the food so good and it's so reasonably in priced! The menu changes every couple of weeks - we're having it tonight for the third time, can't wait!

Not many places have the balls to serve steak with only kale, and nothing else. Succulent wouldn't describe it. High quality meat, and perfectly cooked! We know Salut is a great little restaurant so we ordered online as a lockdown treat given we should have been on holiday. Salut didn't disappoint. The order process was easy and we were sent instructions on reheating the mains the day before. The food arrived in the time slot requested, well wrapped and presented and the mains were in foil so didn't need too long to reheat. And the food was as good as we remember in the restaurant, the mushroom started and the beef main were particularly tasty (so tasty I forgot to snap the beef!) Overall a great experience and we hope they survive the current crisis, particularly as the restaurant reached out after the meal to see how it was and asl for any feedback.

Being locals, my partner and I have eaten at Salut a good seven or eight times so far, but I wanted to write a review for right now - as Salut has risen to the current lockdown challenge and are providing a top-notch take-away and delivery version of their usual restaurant fare. I'm pleased to say the food travelled well, and was plated in compostable containers with the same eye for presentation as they would have done in the restaurant. While I would much prefer to be back seeing them in person, I'm very happy they've chosen to offer take-away and delivery as they're a high-end choice above the usual take-away options available!

The seabass was properly cooked but the veggies under were boring, no sauce, no spice, no savour. We were a group of 7 friends all very enthousiastic coming in but we all left disappointed to have paid £60 with wine each for a very average meal. Better go to one of the gastropubs in the area for much better value for price.

True, the food is beautifully presented and the wine was delicious, but I feel each course failed to hit the mark. Beef carpaccio to start had a large amount of oil to dress it, which was unnecessary as the beef itself was very rich. The pickled mushrooms which came with it added some balance. I had a slow cooked beef cheek for main on a potato puree. It was rich and buttery which I love, but had nothing with it to cut through it. I asked to be recommended a side to accompany, but the artichoke heart was also very rich with a creamy filling and needed a good squeeze of lemon to offer some contrast. I couldn't finish either. My husband had a chorizo and compressed octopus starter which we thought would be interesting. What arrived may have worked in a beach restaurant on the med, but not on a cold winters evening in Islington... large cold compressed octopus tentacles in jelly, cubed in 4 neat little inch squares. Chewy, with that cold grissly sucker pad feel was just not very nice. His fish for main was pretty average. I was really looking forward to trying this restaurant from the great reviews and due to living locally, but I think its probably best described as a nice'ish local restaurant that is trying hard but not in the league you might expect given the many 5 star reviews. Pretty isn't really good enough to justify the price. Be prepared to get to know your neighbours too - it's cosy.

Perhaps because we were hangry (hungry/ angry). And it tool a long time to get a top up on water too.
