Reviews of Shake Shack Covent Garden
J. P.
Delicious for a take away joint. I had the Meister burger; smokey flavour with grilled cheese - very good. And warm, which is not the case with Five Guys burgers which often arrive to the customer almost cold.
s. z.
Very tasty burgers. We really enjoyed them. It's a bit small so you need to go for the double burger size. The cheeseburger with the lovely smokey bacon was pure bliss. Every ingredient fitted in perfectly for super tasty bite. The cheesy chips were not so good and the cheese souce tasted weird and not in a good way. We had to wait 25 minutes for our burgers and the place wasn't busy, so not very fast food. Anyway, the bacon cheese burger is super tasty and this is the most important thing.
T.
I ordered the black and white shake (chocolate & vanilla) that was fantastic, especially if you like smarties
The cheesy fries probably could've been spread more evenly across the rest of the chips. That said, the cheese wasn't a generic burger cheese and it was hot so it was nicely melted on the chips, making for an enjoyable side
I ordered the double SHACKMEISTER and my friend the single, so you can compare the size difference below. Taste is good, beats the double big Mac by some distance, not the biggest overall though
Outdoor seating has the Christmas decorations rolled out and there was opera singing to be heard downstairs
One downside is I lost my headphones there!
T. L.
We stopped off at the Shake Shack in Covent Garden for plant based burgers and a portion of fries to share. The burger was tasty, nice lettuce inside and the bun soft. The crinkle cut chips were lovely. This is the first time I have been to Shake Shack and I would go back if I wanted fast food.
J. M. H.
Great service here. The cashiers were a little slow, but the food came out quite quickly. They have many spaces to sit inside and outside. They’re burgers are very good but the single without the bun is a bit small I would recommend getting the double if you don’t get a bun. They’re fries are great and they’re cheese sauce complements them perfectly.
P. T.
I think this place is highly overrated. Although tasty, the burgers are really expensive for being so small. You have to queue a long time and pay everything separately. Not whort it, there are other better burgers to try.
A. H.
Staff were nice and quick with the service. The seating outside is okay on hotter days but it was freezing and even with the warm food to help with that it wasn’t enough😫 the food was delicious and definitely worth it. Ordered the chicken shack burger with crinkle cut fries. 5/5 for the food. Very satisfying!
S. K.
Best burger in London at Covent Garden. Must order the cheesy fries. Expect to Q for 15-20 mins during peak hours

This fast food chain never fails to disappoint! The food was excellent, although they could’ve been a little more generous with the toppings, it was good, the fries were not soggy and they were perfectly salted. The pricing was alright but in my opinion it should’ve been a bit cheaper due to the sizes and amounts of toppings to the burger. The customer service was alright but the wait time was too much in my opinion considering it was a fast food restaurant! The drinks were alright but we were missing the classics such as hot beverages and other soft drinks. Overall it is a good restaurant and the outdoor seating accompanied the whole aesthetic very nicely .

Planned our trip as we were travelling from Yorkshire.
We have to download the menu on the QR scanner look at the menu and then order your food little sticker on the table to say which 1 it is.
We only eat halal food and to find out only the chicken is halal was a little disappointing.
We had the classic chicken burgers and I had a kimchi slaw burger which really was amazing but it was warm not hot.
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Expensive and waiting time let it down from a five star review as we had it twice and both times food was warm not hot.
A. A.
Very tasty chicken burgers, if I were to rate the burgers only then they would get 4 stars, dropped a star to their incredibly small size.
Halal chicken would've notched them up to 5 stars, however I was informed that the kitchen staff, when busy, use the same utensils for the halal chicken as they do for the meat and ham. That takes them all the way down to 2 stars.
The lady serving us made the effort to have make sure the same utensils were not mixed for our burgers so they go up a star. However shouldn't this be as standard?
Food: 5 stars
Kitchen: 2 stars
Portions: 3 stars
Honesty of staff: 5 stars

As a family of four we each tried different burgers and shakes. All were delicious 😋.
They certainly tasted like the ingredients were very fresh and great quality ingredients. I particularly liked my coffee shake. Covent Garden was busy but there was plenty of seating available.
G. B.
A little bit of chaos. Queue inside, then you have to queue outside, even though we wanted to eat inside. Then they never made it anyway, which didn't get picked up until I asked after waiting ten minutes. The outdoor queue system is having your name called out in the midst of a bustling Covent Garden.
They redeemed themselves ONLY with the quality and taste of the product. I thought I'd try the cold custard dessert, which was indeed delicious. The family all had sugar lemon drinks, which were also nice.
Perhaps best to use the Shack when it's quieter.
A. K.
Lovely lunch, all the food was nice, especially the chicken burger. The mango and passion fruit lemonade was really refreshing. Reasonably priced for what we got.
K. F.
Went in at 18.12 before going to see a show. Took a few minutes to be served as only 1 person serving and food took nearly 30 minutes for 3 burgers and fries to arrive. No complaints about food though as burgers were lovely and cheese fries were fantastic.
G. M.
Good food, but fairly pricey and the service is always a bit wrought. It's constantly busy so it's not a very relaxed experience.
G. B.
Nice food, good quality and value for money especially taking into account the prime location.
Had some chicken burgers with signature sauce, chips, cheesy chips and drinks each. All together came to £50 ish. Not bad for three people.
Only slight negative, they put a lot of salt on chips so better to ask for no salt or less then they usually do.
Also, note to management, it's still cold in the evenings. Please put patio/umbrella heaters on like your neighbours restaurants/dine in places do.
A. A.
I love their burgers and the fries with cheese 🫕. With the lovely atmosphere of Covent Garden.
And it’s halal!!
M. B.
You queue on one side to order and pick up on the other side. It works well and there is enough space to sit outside. The burger was delicious. The fries good.. But the fries with cheese ... So special! I would recommend especially for the friendly staff. The older staff also were very chatty and welcoming. Especially the lady from Aruba who was an expert on every burger and helped us choose our meals. The female toilets downstairs were closed but there were two other unisex ones. At least there are bathrooms!
D. I.
Awesome food as always. What appreciated most was the girl that cleaned our table before sitting down. She was very friendly and helpful. Pleasant.
J. K.
Burgers were quite tasty. Service wasn't that bad considering how busy it was. Make sure you order online. They have selection of milkshakes and different types of fries. Hot dogs were not very big, but tasted ok.
L. B.
This was Highly recommended by my friend from the suburbs who had a meal at one of their restaurants out in the far reaches of the suburbs with Her Granddaughter, the location was Covent Garden, a place we have visited many times in recent months, I like going there because as a native Londoner I find it amazing to go somewhere where there is nothing to see and nothing to do except maybe spend money, ( Try Fishermans Wharf and Pier 39 in San Francisco ! ), The Meal we had was large and filling, we chose the Chicken Shake a side order of Fries And a Regular iced tea, the service is quirky to say the least, line up, choose your order and you are given a Gizmo, take your table and wait a short time until it Buzzes and flashes you to collect, the food was waiting for me being kept hot under infrared lamps, the Chicken Shake was a deep fried chicken breast with shredded lettuce, pickle and mayo, the chicken was large and mostly crispy, the pickle good as was the mayo, the lettuce was limp, the fries were plentiful and good but greasy and over salted, the iced tea was no more than plain English tea, brewed, cooled and chilled with all the bitterness you expect with ordinary English tea passed off as an iced tea drink, the bun the chicken came in was soggy and the paper pouch it came in clung to it like they were inseperable friends, I enjoyed my lunch but with a little more consideration that they are serving people rather than just pumping out food it could be a great restaurant rather than just another place to eat in a tourist trap.
N.
The burgers are super good, the bread is soft and sweet, the meat is cooked how you want it to be cooked and the fries are not too salty. Overall, quality burgers.
A. D.
Great burgers, crinkle fries, amazing shakes and that cheese sauce! 😍
K. B.
Delicious burgers with perfectly crispy lightly salted fries and rich shakes make for a good lunch! Yes the burgers do seem small but they are so delicious that you'll be more than satisfied. I had a cheeseburger with crispy shallots that came on a brioche bun. It was juicy, the shallots were crisp and it was full of flavour. Chips in the UK are usually awful soggy things with little to no flavour but these guys got it right - hot, crispy and everyone ate every single chip (usually we barely touch them). Maybe a bit pricey at £80 for the five of us but as a treat it was well worth it.
I. L.
Great burgers. Chips were cold. Nice to have a beer outdoors.
F. S.
Restaurant was following covid guidelines. You sit down at the table, order from the shake shack website. Once the order is ready, it's delivered to your table.
We waited about 15 minutes before getting the order delivered so we did not wait that long. Food itself was delicious from the chicken burger to the fries. However do not expect the food to come cheap. We paid about £6.50 for a chicken burger and the quantity was not that big either. The quantity was not worth the price.
However in total it was a good experience. Just don't go if you are super hungry otherwise you will end up spending a lot of money and still not feel full.
B. C.
The burgers here are great and have a real meaty feel about them.
However the hotdogs were dry even with sauces and did not have that succulent frankfurter feel compared to many other hotdog outlets including the cinemas.
j. h.
Plenty spaces, just sit down and QR code on the table for scanning sends you to site menu then order your food and it comes to your table, very easy.menu good for tasty burgers and the lager plus the crinkle chips, service and wait times were just right...
l. 2.
SO much meaty grilled flavour in a perfectly, flavourful brioche bun. Crisp light larger. Perfect!
L.
I had the best experience possible on a truly gloomy day. I'd ordered takeaway and apart from prompt and polite service from those cooking and serving, Etoile - a total gem! was my cashier and really shined a light on a bad day. We laughed, she told me the specials and helped an over worked and underpaid retail worker feel that little bit better! The food was great as usual but the service was exceptional and she deserves a raise!
B. R.

Bit of a wait service, particularly around pre show times.
Burgers are great, nice shakes and frozen custard.
Pricing is pretty good for London.
Seating is at a premium so send a scout out to grab a table.
N. W.
Delicious cake within a beautiful setting. Even in freezing weather it was cosy with knee blankets
C.
Really nice burgers and so they should be for the money. Very expensive and small portions but very tasty.
M. G.
Fresh burger, tasty cheesy fries. Loved the local beer. Price reasonable for central London.
A. C.
Very good place to eat English food
S. A.
Excellent place food is very good and there's music around also ice cream 🍦 Italian chocolates 🍫 😋 if reach coven Garden do not miss it.
J. A.
Very busy place but if you have to queue its not for long. We had the most amazing tomato soup with a selection of lovely home made bread. Staff helpful and friendly. Loved it.
d. a.
First time experience but it was really lovely.. Food isn't expensive at all compared to other burger restaurant chains. Will definitely visit again.
J. P.
Chips were top. Burger nice and hot. Prices not bad either. Wait wasnt that long.
A. K.
Had the Shroom Burger which was delish and their fresh lemonade is always a hit! Chips were on the cold side on this occasion but would deffo recommend if you’re passing by Covent Garden.
M. R.
Unlike other shake shacks, this one is very well policed. There are staff members that keep the queue organised and hand out menus, place people at tables outide and in, aswell as someone who helps handing out the orders and filling water cups. The place is also bustly and fun to walk around after the meal, and the quality is very reliable like any shake shack!
C. L.
Very good selection of fresh and tasty burgers. Presented much nicer than most ‘fast food’ chains. Shakes are delicious as well.
Always a bit of a wait but definitely worth it!
H. L.
What a weird set up at Covent Garden shake shack had we known it was like it was we wouldn't have visited. Thank goodness the food was good!
K. R.
First visit to a Shake Shack, it was average as burger places go I guess.. the cheesy chilli fries would if been more enjoyable had they not been drowning in the "cheese" ..
I had a chipotle chicken burger, it was nice but didn't blow me away which was a shame 😒.. £33 for two burgers, 2 fries and 2 soft drinks.. bit on the steep side I think price wise.
We managed to find a seat eventually, and the location in Covent Garden is good, wont be returning again, 5 Guys beats Shake Shack for me.
J. B.
Busy outlet on a weekend..obviously, but the food was goood & the Shake best I've had in a long time
T. K.
Hungry couple asked for a burger and some cheese hotdogs. Burger was not on the receipt and hotdogs came without any cheese even thoug extra bells and whistles were paid for. Upside? Whatever came was delicious.
C. W.
Absolutely scrummy food, especially the flat-dogs with cheese sauce. Anthony is a treasure, first he's taking orders, then preparing and then attending to the pigeons. We will be back.
D. S.
Love love love Shake Shack burgers. It's one of our favourite things in NY. I'm glad it's in the UK but could do with some up North.
Tasty organic burgers.
K. W. T.
Amazing food taste. The shack stack was amazing. I’ve never expected a patty made of mushroom. The price is reasonable, though the price for the milkshake is a little high 5 pounds.
L. S.
The restaurant is great, practically well set out. The seating area is right in the heart of Covent Garden so a great atmosphere, food was expensive but you’re in London so not expecting different and still absolutely delicious! Would 100% come back
B. L.
Great peanut butter milk shake, the burgers were big and flavourful! Unlike your typical burgers, this seems to capture the Essence or a real burger
M. W.
The Covent Garden branch benefited from its location, you get to eat your burger in an al fresco setting to the background music of whichever amazing busker happened to perform. The burger itself looked a little sad and tiny, though the taste was good. I definitely recalled a larger portion in US’s Shake Shacks. My friend had the coffee shake, and despite the super thick texture (akin to drinking ice cream) she finished it off, declaring it amazing. So there you go.
S. S.
Great burger and love the shakes!
G. L.
The food is good, but I wish they had heaters in the outdoor area.
a. a.
Honestly though, is there a better classic burger than this place??? Not very creative with their burgers but this is exactly why they have the reputation they have. This location especially has perfected the art of a classic burger (look at the picture and drool).
E. S.
My go to forever chicken burger place!
A. A.
The first for me at the shack and yeah i would say it was great . Although the price may seem high (£9) for a basic meal, its covent gardens and considering that its good . Chicken 🐓 is halal , tasty and worth it . I personally liked the chicken burger and would recommend ( would love to try the beef patty but because its not halal i cant hint hint * management 😂😂😂) . Expect a queue , rightfully . The airy fries (£3)🍟 im not really a fan of . If your in the area and want a good chunky chicken burger , here you go 🙏🏼
E. K.
Tasty burgers, hotdogs and curly chips. It weighed the four of us in at £40 for two burgers and two hotdogs with curly chips and drinks. The food was lovely and the location perfect to sit and watch the world go by whilst refueling.
A. C.
Possibly the best fast food in London! In one of the most amazing locations, unfortunately when we went it was 3 degrees outside and full of pigeons which can only be compared to furry kamikaze birds but the cheesy chips made up for this
P. I.
Food is OK, tried the beef hot dog. Really thick milkshakes! Convenient ordering from table using mobile website.
J. B.
Lovely shakes. Staff was really helpful. If you choose to eat at the shake shack food court be aware of the pigeons. Some are aggressive.
E. W.
Delicious food. Managed to get a table after a 10 minute wait on a Sunday. Food took about 30 minutes from getting in the queue to eating
E. C.
Came here on a Wednesday and didn't have to wait on line at all!
I love Shake Shack in the US so I was ecstatic to see one here in London. We walked directly up to the counter and ordered our Shack Burgers. We got our pagers and went out to the eating area outside the restaurant. We were greeted by more employees who got us ketchup and mayonnaise. Once our pagers started to buzz we went and got our food.
The fries were spot on. They tasted just like the US ones. The burger was pretty damn good but the beef and bun tasted just a littttle bit different. The bun wasn't as greasy or buttery and the meat wasn't as soft. Other than that, I was more than satisfied. It was my first burger in London and I wouldn't have it any other way.
C. Y. C.
Lovely lunch, all the food was nice.
A. B.
THE VEGAN BURGERS ARE SO GOOD!! A DEFINITE 10/10 recommend!!! I LOVE THEM
R. E.
Nice place for breakfast and dinner. Menu offers good selection of nice plates. With vegan and gluten free options. Service was pleasant. And of course the location with great atmosphere of Covent Garden.
z. b.
I had never been to a Shake Shack outlet before and I don't think I will ever will again. Completely overpriced for the size of the portions. Very similar to five guys all style and no substance. Another idea for this particular outlet would be to put up some signage to explain to customers how you want them to use the QR code and order online. I found the ordering process simple but could have done without queueing up only to be told to order online.
S.
Ordinary burger, you pay a bit for a sweet Bunn and the brand.
Fries are totally average frozen fries from a store.
N. H.
Shake shack Covent garden. We popped in here for our dinner, whilst wandering around Covent garden. A new one on me this place. It was very easy to order. Place your meal get a bleeper, sit and wait for the bleep and pick up your order. I had a chicken burger, my wife had a cheese burger. And we shared cheesy chili fries or something. It was actually very nice and we both enjoyed it. Would go back again.
H. S.
Shakeshack itself is delicious and fine. But shakeshack covent garden isnt the place to eat the burgers. (Though i consistently go there because its the closest place) Its good that they got rid of the semi-outdoor seats as it makes people feel like they are sharing the burgers and shakes with pigeons;(
C. C.
That's so good can find Shake Shack in London! The best burger in my mind! However, it's seem a little bit over cook, overall is good!
j. b. (.
Nicest burger think I have ever had chocolate milkshake was amazing and lemonade tasted so fresh would definitely go again
S. C.
Ok meal, on the pricier side and not better than say a McDonalds. Would probably opt for somewhere like Byron instead for table service and similar price. The lemonade was very tasty but the fries could have been hotter. Order at counter and wait for your meal via a buzzer. Nice surroundings with live music accompanying your dining experience.
A. L.
Super tasty gourmet burgers and cheesy fries. Very good value too!
A. M.
Good food and friendly service in a great location. Knocked one star off the food for the "cheese sauce" on my chips - I won't be ordering that again. Otherwise I really enjoyed.
M. F.
One of a few shake shacks in London. The burgers are not as good as their US „brothers“, but still enjoyable. Unfortunately the place is really pricey.
F.
Not bad. But you need to know is cheese is little salty.
I ordered the Shake burger and shroom burger with a bottle of beer(call ‘beer’ but not a beer)
whatever a beer was like coke. I think fifty&fifty is better:)
J. C.
Great quality for food for relatively low prices (compares to other places in Covent Garden and London in general). Good variety of food and seating in the main plaza with a good view of what is going on. Pager to collect food from hatch is a nice touch and staff are extremely friendly and helpful; they collected my food and brought it to me at the table in order to save my seat while my friend was elsewhere. A great place to eat in the centre of covent garden and a flexible menu.
F. J.
Great place with outdoor seats. Queue is not that scary long compare to other countries. Nice views and lively market area. Can do shopping after the meal. Just that there are many pigeons flying around.
S. C.
Burger, milkshake and french fries is awesome 👏🏻
E. W.
Super well organized. We were shown to a nicely distanced table by the friendly staff in the open air piazza and you do all the ordering from your table. So happy to be able to enjoy shake shack again at the restaurant. Loads of cleaning and sanitising going on while we were eating too. Can't wait to go back.
M. A.
Very delicious food, well known for their chicken and cheese sauce. The cheese sauce goes with everything... from the chips to the burgers to the chicken dippers. It even tastes good on its own 🤤.
The chicken is also halal which awesome.
I especially recommend the matcha cookies and cream milkshake which was heavenly.
M. S. S.
Yummy burgers and delicious shakes. Shake shack at Covent Garden was a totally pleasant experience. The staff was courteous and the food was excellent.
R. C.
The burger was small but okey. But unfortunately the selfmade ice tea is not that tasty. And the price is a little bit to high.
T. B.
Visited Covent Garden Shake Shake yesterday. There was a small issue but Richie turned it around and we left very happy.
Nardus is a great worker and as a suggestion the kitchen staff & runners should check tickets before they send/drop the food at the table. The issue was not the fault of Nardus but of the person who delivered the food to our table. Nardus was rectifying our problem and Richie visited our table and apologised.
Good management on turning out first visit in to a great first visit.
Thanks
T. S. D.
Ordered a takeaway pickup during the lockdown. Food was good and pretty much what you would expect from SS. The process was lengthy mainly due to the extra Covid and social distancing in place. Other than that, it was good.
s.
Amazing service - arrived just before closing and the wonderful server helped us work out what to have! Awesome :D
B. S.
Always love it ! However this is now the slowest fast food in town . Not sure what went wrong I waited 45 min and also all people around me were upset
M. A.
Nice place to eat but unfortunately we ordered 1 Vegan burger and 2 chicken burgers but we received 3 chicken burgers!!
I took out the chicken and ate only the bun.
but still I like the place 😌
J. W.
Fantastic stay most due to the very high quality treatment and service from all staff. The lady who greeted us upon arrival and carried our bags to the taxi when we left was amazing. Sorry I forgot her name. Highly priced drinks but expected for a hotel of this standing.
R. E.
Do not go there on the weekends, it took them one hour to bring my order! Although it was due in half an hour according to the app! The customer service was horrible!
R. H.
Best burger I've had in ages! Shakes are nice and thick too.
N. H.
Amazing burger! Really quick to order and recieve. The only issue is finding somewhere to sit!
O. B.
Fantastic burger, great chips and spot on milkshake. The changes made for order at the table and spacing out couldn't be better in terms of C19 arrangements.
Staff have always been friendly every time I have visited and the food consistently is great!
T. D.
Full flavour loaded fries. Hand made burgers at their best. And a chocolate milkshake that was so tasty and thick, it was definitely a dessert rather than a drink!
J. C.
Loved it. Never been to Shake Shack before, but the food was really tasty and my niece said it was the best shake ever!! Easy table ordering, just scan the sign on your table and up comes a choice of venues, then the menu. Excellent for social distancing, the food is brought to the table and we help ourselves. Will happily go again
A.
I just love the burgers and the cheesy fries . One of my favourite burger places in London , very casual and really tasty.
D. N.
The order didn't arrive fast at all and they made a mistake with my milkshake so it wasted more of our time. But the cookie cream shake was great!
S. T.
Veggie burger was great , there isn't enough space to sit, serve can take some time but worth it
E. B.
Vegan burger was lush! Would definitely recommend anyone to try it!
Had the meal with chips and the cheese sauce / lemonade & really enjoyed.
Customer service could be improved.
F. S. A.
Well known resturant. Great burgers. Good food. Friendly staff.
L. D.
Although I think £5 for a small burger is crazy, it just tastes so delicious and the crinkley fries are great too
S. B.
Great burgers, reasonable prices, although drinks menu is a little limited, definitely worth a visit
B. m.
The best burger 🍔 you can get 😋
T. P.
Quick and easy, no fuss food.
Set in the buzzing centre of Covent Garden, I would reccomend going early or late to avoid the crush and queues. Definitely a good choice for pre-theatre dining.
P. F.
A very good burger that is way too over priced. Five Guys don't just make the better burger, but also for a better price
S. N.
Shack burger is good. Shack meister is oily. Cheese fries is not bad
S. C.
Delicious and pretty reasonably priced. The chicken nuggets have the most delicious coating, all the food is top quality
N. B.
Tasty and quick. Got a seat outside, was clean and well looked after.
L. V.
Not as good as i think they will be. In singapore ppl are queing 1 hour to get in!!! Maybe its because my high expectation. Beef burger is really good though!
M. K.
I went hoping that I could go and have a little shake while sitting down when I sat down and had a little shake I shook my foot said I shook my hand and then I shook my head and then I had to shake the pigeons away and so I sat down all the time I was shaking and everybody next to me thought that I should not be shaking and they said this place is not a place to shake it is a place to drink and when you drink you call it shake and I said but I do not want to drink and shake and they said if you drink milk you will shake so I had a nice glass of milk and then I had a little shake and it was splendid
S. M.
Came for a burger with my mate to celebrate the end of lockdown. I had the chicken burger, which was SO good, and we sat in the outdoor dining area, there was plenty of space and it felt great to have a meal as if it we were back to normal
S. B.
Great burgers, reasonable prices, although drinks menu is a little limited, definitely worth a visit
N. H.
Amazing burger! Really quick to order and recieve. The only issue is finding somewhere to sit!
R. P.
Good food but table service could've been better - had to wait 45 mins to over an hour for my order and waiter had to reconfirm what food we had ordered.
G. G.
Their veggie burgers are lit 😋
T. S. D.
Ordered a takeaway pickup during the lockdown. Food was good and pretty much what you would expect from SS. The process was lengthy mainly due to the extra Covid and social distancing in place. Other than that, it was good.
M.
Food was delicious just wished the burgers were larger in size!
M. S.
Great food, very busy, some staff seemed to be working harder than others. Awesome lemonade
p. t.
Went there when the outside eating was allowed and couldn't be happier with staff !! Very friendly, proactive , trying to direct customers the best way they could ...even under pressure as some costumers were really pushy with the tables availability !! Mistakenly i ordered something that i didn't want , staff member changed my order without a fuss! I really appreciate the gesture . Would come back and recommend this branch !
M. A.
Very busy and cramped. Not comfortable place to eat in peace for the price you pay.
R. P.
Good food but table service could've been better - had to wait 45 mins to over an hour for my order and waiter had to reconfirm what food we had ordered.
S. K.
Govent garden was the best places indoors and outdoors performing going on to, eat and drink, And for kids to🙂👍💯💯💯
D. S.
Vegan Burgers are one of the best I've had! We are veggie so asked for normal cheese which they did with no issues. Topped fries 😍😍
S. B. A.
Very cold to eat outdoors, some heating would have been good
F. H.
Good and quick service. The food is nice, bit pricy but well located
J. H.
Best burgers ever!!!
But I asked for extra onion and that made it even better!
a. p.
A very nice place to drink, eat and see performance from talented ppl.
W. a.
Delicious Burger's and nice fries, even their coke is different.. a bit overpriced but deserve
A. P.
Ok food, nothing to shout about, the equivalent of buying a sandwich only to discover the filling is all in the front. Small burgers, garlic chips had no taste of garlic. Won't return
A. M.
Ordered the Double Smoke Shack - the burger was very crispy as a smash burger should be and the bun was very soft and had great flavour. Overall the ingredients were high quality and gave the burger a nice texture. The cheesy fries were also worth it. Was fortunate to get a free Bourbon caramel shake at their reopening which was probably one the best drinks I have had in a while - definitely recommend.
q. a.
The food is tasty but the portion is too small compared to the price
K. G.
One of the best burgers in London. The service was quick despite being busy. We tried the Chicken burger which was quite good and Vanilla shake which was extraordinary, even the fries were delicious.
It is worth the money spent!! Will definitely go again.
E.
Good quality food. Being sat outside can be a bit cold.
R. H.
Hamburgers pretty good as always but the staff where not really good, we ask more than once for ketchup and mayonnaise and they spend a lot of time for filling the bottles ...
S. L.
Having eaten at a few burger joints in the city, this one is definitely up there, not least so because of it's fantastic catering of dietary requirements. My friend has an allergy to gluten and the staff were so clued up on how to deal with it. Fantastic food and great service!! Definitely needs to expand in size though.
A. L.
Good food and drink. Slow service, and they've gotten rid of the fantastic peanut milkshake! 😭
O. M.
The prime thing here is the excellent location in Covent Garden in a great seating area. Burgers are very tasty, I'd skip the fries. Surly staff on tills who were having an argument when I reached them but they looked understaffed which may have been reason. Still prefer Honest burger which is a better option a few feet away, but if you have limited time and the weather is good give here a try!
A. P.
Really nice food and happy that the burgers are not huge to get messy while eating😅
A. B.
Good the taste is amazing and fast getting the food to you
J. p.
One of the best burger ever!
J. C.
Giving here a just OK rating.. why, well because it was nothing special and the staff certainly couldn't have cared less. I was most interested in what concretes where as I'd never heard of them.. the response I got was rather couldn't.care... go elsewhere is my recommendation
A. F.
BEST CHEESEBURGER I'VE EVER HAD. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because the wait was too long, the place is too small and I had to eat outside in the cold and rain. If the burger wasn't amazing I'd probably have rated it 3 stars but damn, the shack burger was DIVINE. Loved it. The garlic fries are so so good as well. Staff was nice too!
陳.
I actually ate a delicious American burger in the UK.
N. S.
Really yummy burgers! Came fast and good service!
M. A.
I love Shake Shack but not this one. Like all the others...long lines. Not like the others... the burgers seem to have shrunk in size and the prices are higher than normal. The location is great and I guess they figure they can charge what the want. Having said that... the burger was super.
A.
Chips are on average, but it's a bit pricy. There are always alot of people queuing here, so not easy to get a sit.
G. P.
Very nice Burguer, and the garlic french fries where amazing. Love it.
B. S.
Richy the manager took real good care of us ! Lovely good American Burgers !
l.
Short wait for the table, quick service, friendly staff. Although the vegan burger was the only option it was really good and the fries are amazing👌
e. e.
I loved the order by table no. It is a good idea, just scan the barcode and order and pay , waiter will bring your mail to the table
M. M.
Don't order the shakes unless you bring your own straw! The paper straws supplied by Shake Shake break with the pressure needed to suck one of their custard things. We ended up stirring our shakes and pouring them into our mouths because the straws all broke. Bigger stronger straws would help!
d. g.
Burgers are perfect size! Schmeister with onions is amazing
B. O.
The food was as good as I expected it to be. 10/10. Would recommend. They forgot to bring us tissues but I'm okay with that. Hopefully next time they'll be more serious about tissues.
C. S.
Incredible burgers. The signature smash patty lives up to the legacy with its crispy outer crust and juicy middle. The shakes are also incredibly high quality with a great flavour selection and thick consistency. Don't pass an opportunity to visit if youre in the area, even if you just settle for some fries. Staff were friendly and helpful. Orders came out quick and accurately.
J. B.
Food was OK but it was like organised chaos getting a table. Rather than waiting as the sign asked people were just sitting down and no staff keeping an eye in that
S. H.
Great service and good food! The food came very fast
R. D.
Better quality fast food, nice semi indoor seating, we had live music adjacent, but other street performances are just as likely.
D. S.
As a first time customer, I was definitely not a fan of the unfriendly staff member who worked as a cashier. She looked like she couldn't be bothered and to me that's someone who has no business working at anything customer service related. I'm still giving it 3 stars, because the food was absolutely delicious and if it wasn't for the unfortunate first contact, I'd definitely give it 5 stars.
G. W.
Really enjoyed the burgers. A little expensive but it is London and Covent garden.
E. D.
The food was great! Plenty of choice and good quality, happy to see dog food options also, refreshing! The chips were delicious, crispy and fresh.
The only problem was the queue getting into the restaurant, too long, but understandable for a summer's day in London
M. A.
Food quality is very good, fresh and juicy burger and Dog. Despite the type of food it wasn’t greasy at all and even the fries are crisp and dry. The presentation of the food is a little underwhelming and the burger an dog are a little small. It all lacked a bit of the wow factor I was expecting. Inevitably it will be compared with the likes of McDonalds and at a price nearly double that of Ronald’s place, it needs to have a bigger wow factor than Just the stunning shakes. I had strawberry and I’ve not had better. This lifted it from 3 to 4 Star.
D. N.
Very tasty burgers. Quick service although not much of a smile!
M. M.
Even though they are operating on a reduced menu during the current pandemic still a fairly decent selection of fast food available. A shame some of the frozen desserts weren't available but what was on the menu was still ok and prepared quickly.
E. L.
It's not bad, but I have had better burgers at other Shake Shack's elsewhere. Service was actually pretty fast! And the staff were polite as well. However, my friend got sick after eating here. And my burger was a bit mushy, but hey atleast I didn't suffer like my friend did.
j. e.
Fries and frozen custard...Tops!
The wait for the food was a tad too much, since there wasn't much of a line up.
E. K.
Our large group split up in this area to find dinners before we headed out to attend shows in the evening. I had eaten at a Shake Shack once back home and decided to give it a try for our small group.
It's a bit of a strange layout with the order area and the food pickup area separated from each other. There is outdoor seating near the order area, but it was very smoky. I asked one of the attendant if there was a non-smoking area and she indicated that the section inside under the cover was non-smoking, so we moved there and found a table when our food came.
Burgers and hot dogs were very good and I enjoyed the fries as well. Milkshake that I ordered was thick and delicious. After our group reassembled and I heard about some other dining experiences, I am certain that we made the right call.
W. D.
If you love burgers this is the place for you!
V. S.
Been here quite a few times and I love the mushroom burger especially with the melted cheese inside it is to die for. Cheesy chips with their special dip are amazing. This location gets very busy and you will have to que for about 10 minutes to order, the eating area can get very busy so it's best to get someone you're with to a get table whilst you're ordering. Great food in an ideal location, I highly recommend Shake Shack.
A. I.
Well I was visiting London and heard really good reviews however as a Muslim who is particular about haram and halal I was really disappointed that they do not serve halal burgers. Will visit again when they start to have halal menu.
Update: The management responded to my review regarding halal meat and I am pleased that they their chicken burgers are halal. The fact that they took out the time to correct shows that that care about their customers. Kudos Shake Shack . Keep it up.
A. J.
Absolutely incredible. Some of the best food I’ve had in ages! I’d definitely come again. Quick and easy.
T. H.
Doesn't look anything special from the outside, but the burgers, fries and milkshakes are fantastic. Much nicer than some similar American chains. Not mentioning how many guys. Prices are reasonable too considering location. You can dine alfresco in the heart of fabulous covent garden. A very pleasant experience. Kids loved it especially.
Q. V.
Food is not bad but I've had better for the same price. Still, I enjoyed it.
J. K.
Burger was good. The lady at the till made a mistake and took ages go sort - involved going to a weird manager dressed in a suit and a cap on the kitchen with no hygiene , and an Italian kitchen manager who were both slightly unhinged and we had to explain the till mistake to them as if we are employees. Bun was soft though
M. M.
The food is great, the service is quick and the staff is friendly. I like the fact that we can find a vegetarian burger and some root beer. The only thing I haven't appreciated in that restaurant was that there are not enough seats and I would like to see toilets cuz the ones inside Covent Garden are not free.
Edit : Apparently I missed the toilets. Maybe the sign should be bigger but just a small detail.
A. F.
Had a lovely, if unusual, lunch of boiled eggs perfectly cooked.
A. M.
Not sure what they hype is about really. The smallest and underwhelming burger I've ever had.
A. N.
I've never had a NY Shake Shack burger, but I know the hype around them and decided to try it in the UK. This is one of the most overhyped products I've ever had. The burger is good, but not better than any other decent burger you can have around London, or anywhere on Earth for that matter. I guess it's pretty worth it if you're in Covent Garden, although maybe just to try it out only to be able to say you've had one.
C. Z.
Normal burgers, had to wait 45 mins for the order on site
B.
A good place to grab a quick burger and some chips! The root beer was really nice but the prices are a bit much considering the portions. The burger was fantastic but everything in the picture was £15 which seemed a bit much for me!
H. R.
Amazing burgers and chicken. If you want quick tasty comfort food then this is up there with the best.
R. d. r.
Best hamburger 🍔 and wunderfull cheese chips 🍟
W. E.
Super burgers. Only the queue management could be better. I always take away and it takes a bit of confusion mixed with optimism until the food is set to go. A bit less fatty would be great too. Love the idea and conception though which is great and works well for Visitors/ Londoners on the go.
L. W.
Can't argue with the burger in this place. Had the Double patty with cheese and the special 'Shack' sauce; it did produce a taste-bud moment and that is the best compliment I can give.
The service was also great in this place. The waiter went out of his way to make sure I could get a seat and that I was happy which was a really nice touch.
The burger itself was good quality beef which was well seasoned and really really juicy. To be fully satisfied at this place I recommend ordering the chips as a side as the burger itself may leave you wanting more. Expect to pay about £12 for a Double Patty and Cheesy chips. A treat for sure!
K. R.
Loved this place when I went to NYC, and the UK version isn't half bad! Somehow it's not quite as good, but the burgers are still brilliant. Simple, unfussy and very well seasoned. I have had bad luck here though, in that the pager they give you to alert you when to collect your order didn't work...so I waited, and waited! Eventually worked out the problem and they cooked my order fresh as it'd gone cold waiting for me to collect it!
D. R.
A relatively small burger joint but it's definitively one of the best!
You gotta love the double shakemeister, it has everything you need. The staff was friendly, the same evening I placed two different order (I really needed that Shake after doing some sightseeing in Covent Garden) and it was fast.
A perfect spot to chill in the middle of Covent Garden and to catch your breath before going back into the fray.
M. M.
It's pricey, the staff at the tills were chatting to each other for a long time before taking my order, and there's little indoor seating for a cold day. But these are as good as fast food burgers get, and the black & white malted shake was delicious.
M. G.
Shake shack burgers are always enjoyable! My go-to is the chick'n shack. Their milkshakes are pretty good, but I'd recommend sharing them unless you have a big sweet tooth as they get sweet and filling pretty quickly.
J. H.
Pretty average burger that's quite overpriced when you compare it to the much stronger showings from Honest Burger. I had the Smoke Shack: the bacon was pretty standard and the patty was tasty enough, but not all that mouth-watering or flavoursome. The peppers were an interesting addition but were ultimately more vinegary than sweet which, in my opinion, didn't go well with the other ingredients. 6/10 for the burger, bumped to a 7 overall because the fries are actually really good.
Would recommend Honest Burger, Dirty Burger and Meat Liquor over this place.
L. M.
Super service and good quality fast food. I like the service and the atmosphere.
It has nice semi outdoor seating. Which general is filled with sounds of artist playing music. I would suggest to find a seat and then place an order or u can split it if ur in a group. The buzzer concept is helpful so your not waiting around for your order to arrive
K. F.
My boys Richie and filando made our experience spectacular. Food was amazing and all in all a great restaurant. 12/10 recommend.
K. B.
Although the food from Shake Shack is great wherever you go, this location is very crowded and not pleasant to eat at. There is limited seating and is not enclosed, meaning that you'll want to keep your coat on during the winter here. Staff is friendly enough considering how busy it is. Personally would recommend a different location for a less hectic dining experience.
N.
Tasty Burger and very tasty cheesy chips, long waiting time
B. D.
Awesome food. Love the mushroom and beef combo burger, oh and the cheesy fries.
A. N.
I live shake shack from my visits in New York. Here in London it’s also really nice to have a taste of it.
But somehow I must admit that it does not tasted like in New York. The burger was quite „old“ and tasted so oily which Im not used to.
Maybe I was unlucky and this was the only burger and fries which were not good.
This shake shack is really clean and has enough space to sit and chill. It’s like in NY always crowded.
Would come to try again.
P. W.
I've been here twice since it opened and not really had to queue much each time. I think the burger is better than average, I really like the crinkly chips but for me the stand-out item is the milkshake. I know it's called shake-shack and most people go for the burgers, but I think the strawberry milkshake is excellent and worth going back for.
The food is okay and better than most fast food places, but it's at least twice the price of McDonalds and whilst it's a lot better I'm not sure it's quite there with value for money.
A. R.
Okay get ready for a connoisseur's feedback. Taste wise you'll find shake shack to be very good! Though it's very rich (even for a burger). Size wise it's sadly not as large as GBK or Five Guys, though if you've ordered fries or a shake alongside you should be fine.
Ive always found the staff to be very friendly and the food to be ready quite quickly.
V.
I had tried the burgers from Shake Shack in NYC and it was a nice surprise to find them in London. One of the best franchises in the burger world. Hope some day they are in Spain.
V.
Friendly staff, food was very good, lots of seating for customers
F. H. (.
Pretty standard Shake Shack, nothing too special. Good food and quick service. I have had better burgers before but for the price you pay here, you can’t go wrong. Definitely will be going back the next time I am in Covent Garden.
D. B.
Since it opened I've been to shake-shack several times. It's a good simple burger, the chips are crinkly and taste great and I love the frozen custards and milkshakes. It's a bit over priced considering what it is and especially when you compare it to the prices in New York. Also, the quality has been going down - in my last couple of visits the burgers no longer have that clean fresh taste to them but are starting to get that greasy - old oil taste to them.. I still love it but they need to start fixing up their game a bit..
U. M.
Very good food, reasonable prices for central London. Too long a wait for food to give 5 though.
L. M.
Lovely meaty burgers 🍔 😋
and a good selection of drinks
K. H.
Visited with family. Ordered the Shake Shack Burger with Cheese, Cheese Fries, and a Peanut Butter Shake.
Shake Shack Burger - Crispy on the outside but a bit pink on the inside. Would work if the meat was thicker, but due to how thin it is, the texture was off-putting. I was hungry so just ate it.
Cheese Fries - Were the highlight of the meal. Nice, golden, and crispy, not overly salty, and the cheese sauce was creamy and complemented them perfectly.
Peanut Butter Shake - Had to power through it. It was so sickeningly sweet. If you're going to pay a ridiculous amount of money for a shake, the least they could do is use natural peanut butter.
The only reason I'm giving them three stars is because the Cheese Fries were delicious and I had a bite of my sister's Chick'n Shack burger which tasted so much better than their beef burger. I'd at least go back for the fries and Chick'n Shack burger, but if I want beef, I'm sticking to Five Guys.
S. A.
first visit to this branch, chicken burger was very nice and is also the only halal option, but expected the burger sizes to be bigger as it is fairly expensive. the mango lemonade is also nice. did not like cheese on the fries. staff was very friendly, patient and helpful.
C. D.
After hearing a lot of hype about this place, we went for a burger one Sunday night and were pleasantly surprised. The queue was short and there were a few free tables outside. We didn't have to wait long before our burgers were ready and, both feeling quite hungry, we thoroughly enjoyed them. I wouldn't say it is any better than other burger places I've been to so that's why I've not rated it more highly.
E. H.
Great food and plenty of seating. The staff all working really hard to keep everything running smoothly despite all the current restrictions. Many thanks
J. C.
The food was good, but I would have liked my food on a plate instead of in a paper bag.
D. S.
Such busy place but we managed to get a place to sit and enjoyed their amazing burgers as always.
J. E.
A little overpriced for what it is but if you're going to shake shack you probably already know that.
Somewhere between fast food and a little more quality, I liked the burger and fries a lot. However, the bacon and mayo fries were definitely not my favourite.
T. R.
By no means is this franchise as good as the Shake Shacks you will find in New York. Once you have accepted that and your expectations have been adjusted this place really isn't bad. It's always super busy so the food is a little sloppy but still delicious. The caramel milkshake and the concretes are so good! I love the shack burger but do not really rate the hot dogs here. If you can move around the tourists then it's worth a go! Not the best burger in London but still pretty good.
L. A.
A tad expensive once you have a burger, fries, and shake but worth it. The burgers are fresh and tasty. Better than that other recent American import (Five Guys), but smaller so if you're hungry get two patties.
Cheese fries are a tasty upgrade to the standard crinkle-cut chips and the peanut butter shake was good, but not as good as Five Guys. If you have a four legged friend bring them along and treat them to the dog menu.
D. F.
Good burgers with special delicious sauce! Definitely come back
R. K.
Delicious burgers at Shake Shack! Long wait lines and need to wait for a seat as well, but it's worth it in the end! Food is flavourful, and the garlic mayo fries are an upgrade that are worth it!
L. J.
Great food, not cheap but worth it.
A. C.
One of the tastiest burgers in London! Must try the smoke stack which has bacon and cherry peppers for an extra kick. Decent fries and combos well with the delicious peanut butter milkshake - all in a great location in the centre of everything!
A.
Good burgers at shake shack
Z. L. T.
Shake Shack is a new american burger joint in London. We went there once and enjoyed the food. The burgers are good. The fires are okay, underwhelming compared to those served by five guys the big Yankee competitor. The drink selection is okay, and they do not have the 100+ coca cola flavours fountain, like 5 guys. On one occasion I saw a waitress from Shake Shack in line for the five guys burgers after the end of her shift. That being said, Shake Shack's milkshakes are amazing. My favourite is the peanut butter one. It is a bit pricey for the offering, but is a welcome addition to London's competitive burger scene.
c.
Ordering was a bit confusing as you're already by the counter then tell you to order from the table.
C. C.
Awesome food. Expect it to be pricey. :D The way they serve and order is a little strange, but I guess that's because its always busy. Awesome outdoor area to eat your food once you order. Definitely recommend eating here.
S. I.
This isn't gourmet, and if you go expecting something other than a greasy burger you'll be disappointed, not to mention naive. There is Honest, Byron, etc. for that. That said it was created by the highly successful restaurateur Danny Meyer.
It is what it is, and does some damn tasty greasy little burgers. The fries are also rather good and same goes for the milkshakes. I have not been disappointed and I'm sure I'll go again. Perhaps not too often though as I don't want a heart attack.
Also pick your times, it's not really worth cueing for, but at least the cue moves fast. Lack of indoor seating will also be worth considering when its cold and rainy.
I. D.
Edit July 17: The experience was worse on second time round. Staff were helpful but Burger was pretty awful.
I went into this place expecting it blow other burger places out the water. The chips were awesome, but the burger was nothing special.
Try to get a seat here on Saturday night, forget it! Stressful.
H. L.
Nice burger and lemonade, also friendly employees here. They even have menu for 4 feet , lovely!
L. W.
Long queues but to be expected in Covent garden. Also expensive for a take away burger. However, it is really nice particularly the crinkle cut chips which are a game changer. One of those places you've got to be in the mood for or else you will feel ripped off!
T. K.
A great Shake Shack, although the separation of the ordering and collection areas into what appears to be two separate buildings caused a little confusion, but quickly understood. Loved the typically tasty burgers of course and the friendly service.
B. M.
Couldn't even finish the shake it was so thicc. So good.
C. L.
Burger tastes OK but nothing special, the fries are mainly interesting because of their shape. The concrete desserts are fun but overall I had higher expectations based on what I heard about the place. They can accommodate for coeliac (but I believe you have to bring your own bun).
S. S.
Good food...excellent service..very friendly staff...very impressed...even in the extreme hot weather staff were friendly and helpful
S. C.
Great atmosphere and customer service. Burgers are juicy but do require condiments. The shakes specifically are something special. My all time favourite is the peanut butter shake.
You have to go here at least once.
B. P.
Burgers, fries and shakes! Their burgers are tiny, but the meat was very soft and tender. Burgers are £5-7 depends on what you get on it. Chips are another £2.50? Shakes are £5, which makes this fast food place a very expensive fast food place. It was good, but not great value for money. The chips were crinkle cut which is kind of special. It's in Covent Garden, can get really crowded at lunch and wait times can be really long. Despite that, food is good, and you get to enjoy beautiful Covent Garden!
e. t.
Ok burgers, just a bit over rated and over priced.
A. A.
Hot food. Quick service. Mushroom burger is a must try! Seating and generally humanity welcomes warmth! Visited Covent garden on a cold and wet rainy day. Can't imagine the discomfort years past.
P. M. H.
Confusing eating arrangements: order from store, exit left and walk outside to next building in a queue while food prepared. There is highly limited seating inside, but a poorly signposted large open seating area outside. The good was food but expensive, but I felt that the store is simply in the wrong and inconvenient location taking away from the overall experience.
h. b.
The shop on the outside look just like a regular shop, but inside i was greeyed with the most wonderful staff and service, the shroom burger is too die for, crispy giant mushroom and melted cheese batter and fresh grilled beef patty and briochie bun, it was heaven on earth, i loved it, and if you love burgers, this place is must go to.
i highly recomend this burger joint.
thanks guys
G. G.
Their veggie burgers are lit 😋
V. P.
Yep, well it certainly did live up to the hype, however I did have to wait ages for my food, but as soon as it came I forgot all about the wait!
Cheeseburger, cheesy fries and a black and white milkshake! YUM! The crinkly fries are genius, so crispy yet fluffy, and the fact you can have all sorts of beers and wines with your burger makes this place even better!
We went in October, so if you are going to the Shake Shack in London in the winter months, make sure you take a coat! The seating is outside and no heaters!! Can get a little nippy!
S. S.
Nice to sit outside on a sunny day. Best shake shack branch.
s. A.
this is my favourite branch of shake shack. the only issue i would say is that birds sometimes just watch u while you eat and then u feel bad for them you give them a piece of your bread and then a heard of birds come and wait for you to give them food. sooooo the moral if the story is dont give birds bread when you eat there
K. F.
Burger was not as expected. Weirdly overcooked and totally dry despite looking pink. Iced tea was super weak and flavorless. The cheese fries were delicious, eat them as hot as you can!
L. L.
Easy to order, superb food and quick service! Would recommend easily
Z. P.
Possibility the most overrated burger place in London. The novelty of having the buzzing alarm was cool but the burger itself was nothing spectacular. The crinkly chips and milkshake are fine but nothing feels special or especially tasty. As always, give it a go yourself and see how you like it.
N. H.
I am so pleased that my favourite american burger chain has finally come to the UK, it's still quite hard to get a table here but it's well worth the wait!
The choice of burgers is amazing and they always taste so fresh! I just wish there was a branch closer to me in South London!
S. R.
I was so excited that Shake Shack had come to London because so many people had great things to say about it. I went over the weekend so the queues were huge and there was not adequate seating inside and it was raining outside. The food was was distinctly average, I was not overwhelmed by the burgers and would rather eat at Meat Liquor or Patty & Bun. I didn't feel full after the meal and should have gone for the double option.
S. T.
Burger was okay, but it needed more seasoning and the cheese sauce drowned out most of the flavour from the beef. The bun was also too sweet.
And this place is way overpriced for what it is. I would recommend going to Meat Market just opposite for similar prices but much better food.
T. M.
The food is absolutely very good and good quality. It is the best veggie burgers that I ever tasted. Every time that I came to this place, I always grab my two favourite burgers. The Smokeshack that consists of smoke bacon and double cheeseburger, it is also garnished with cherry peppers and two large patties.
E. W.
Food was delicious and decent prices. Really enjoyed the meal here today. Service was great
Z. K.
Thanks for the lovely drink in decent price at Covent Garden !
O. R.
I thoroughly enjoyed my visit to Shake Shack. It is was nearly as tasty as the NYC locations! The "shake shack sauce" is a must. The fries are great as well. The queues can be long but they give you a buzzer so you can occupy seats before your food is ready.
M.
A girl likes the burgers. 5/5 stars, she says. A girl also said she definitely will return if she gets a chance.
A girl mentioned the amazing service, throughout a big rush as well.
A girl once again puts weight on the fact that she will return.
J. C.
Having tried Shake Shack when we went to NY, I was more then excited to give the UK one a go.
The food was so tasty, I had the Shack-cago dog which was delicious - a nice touch with the pickled chillis! The hot dog was a little on the small side for the price - it cost about £25 for two with drinks but I think the flavour made up for it.
The whole seating thing is pretty confusing though, we were told we weren't allowed to get our seats before ordering but it seemed they were only telling a few people this which was a bit odd.
Going with a vegetarian though, he said it was one of the best veggie burgers he'd had! Looking forward to trying the concretes next time
M. S.
I went in for a milkshake rather than food, but have eaten here before. The food is very nice, typical American style burgers and fries. The milkshakes are very nice and can be customised even for a scoop of ice cream on the top.
G. B.
Since Shake Shack arrived in London, I read very mixed reviews. In the first weeks, there were always enormous queues, so I never dared to try it. Located right in the centre of Covent Garden, you can get there easily, but you should be prepared to wait at least a few minutes.
The interior looks okay, but it feels a bit like a fast food chain, everything looks a bit cheap. I did not like, that I have to wait for my food and then pick it up myself at the counter - there are so many staff running around, why can they not bring me my food? I guess this is part of the concept, but I found it a bit weird and annoying.
I ordered the SmokeShack(TM) burger and it was a decent burger. Nothing really special, but there was also nothing wrong with it. Actually, given its size, it is perhaps more a decent slider than a burger. The size also has a good side, because it makes the burger easy to eat, avoiding a big fatty mess. I also went for the crinkle cut cheese fries and they were probably the highlight of my dinner. Nice crispy fries with cheddar cheese on top - I added some small bags of pepper to make it even more enjoyable.
I find it a little bit difficult to rate this place. While my burger was a solid piece of food and the crinkle cut cheese fries were a little bit special, it did not feel like a place I like to visit more often. Let alone a trademarked burger name on the menu, that is not even a registered trademark yet (get it, this is Europe, your strange sign does not mean too much over here, and your burger name is probably also protected without it).
At the end, I found this place overhyped and overpriced for what it is. Maybe I was expecting too much - if I had the choice between Shake Shack and some of the other burger joints in central London, I think I would prefer one of other options. Not so much for the food, but mostly for the atmosphere. That said, I definitely have to go back to check out the desserts and shakes...

Extremely enjoyable. Food was tasty and of good quality. Staff was friendly and professional. And, they are properly Covid secure!

Since I'm a huge fan when I used to live in NYC close to the Madison location, after a week of opening here in London we brought a friend who has never tried Shake Shack before. And she was impressed. The food was exactly like NYC's... the bun was buttery golden, the burger juicy and fresh. I don't know what their magic ingredient is but everything tasted perfect together. We also got the ice-cream shake and cheesy fries, so we were really feeling it afterwards. But so worth the food coma... this is one of my favorite burger joints and if it wasn't for the fact that I used to go so many times in NYC, I would go back in a heartbeat.

My sister and I stumbled upon this little gourmet burger place while exploring Covent Garden Market and cannot wait to come back again. Beautiful setting, especially with the atmosphere created by the live music floating up from below, utterly DELICIOUS food, in such perfect proportions, and the staff are literally wonderful. I don't think I've ever come across a more generally lovely bunch of people working at a food place. Special shoutout to Anthony who served us, he was just all smiles and had such genuine warmth, and we now use him as the benchmark for any restaurant we go to, it just goes to show how a simple smile from a stranger can stay with you. A woman also brought us cutlery and sauce when our food was ready and then came back to take away our tray after we were done, assuring us all Obi Wan-like with such knowing serenity that all we had to do was sit back, relax, and enjoy our milkshakes. Don't know her name, but she was similarly legendary and sage-like. Love this place!

Simple and good burger and fries. I had their standard cheeseburger and crinkle fries with blueberry lemonade. Ordering is straight forward and quick and we had no problems with queuing. We did visit later in the evening of a weekday so I can imagine it would be much busier during the weekend. The portions are generous and extremely satisfying. Seating is available in the piazza in the heart of covent garden. Seek out if you are looking for a decent burger.

Quite nice environment to dine in. Food served a la McDonald's, in plastic/take a way fashion so don't expect any extra. Burgers Ok but the disgusting birds flying over, under and around you is not what you want at your table.

I missed out on having this in new York and I'm glad I got to try it in London! The frozen custard was great and it's in a nice area where there's normally buskers near the Italian restaurant below. The fries were really good and it was a little over priced but I guess it's expected when it's the only shake shack in the UK.

started out at 5 stars - but after a couple of visits it keeps going down. taste is good - but overall too greasy. I typically get a burger and a shake and share some fries. By the time we walk out I have a stomach ache and feel a twinge of sick. flavor is great but just too much. need to clean up the fat a bit.

Hamburgers and milk shakes are really delicious 👌
Z. S.
The choice is limited but that's not a bad thing as long as you know what to expect. The chicken burger is great but they only have one. The fries though, wow I could eat them for days, especially the cheesy ones
M.
I'd love to give 5 stars for the burger, however the fries were served cold.
Also the SmokeShack sauce could be more like the original in New York, a bit more vivid.
The toilets were really dirty.
Both sauce and toilets loose one star, thus 3 stars in total.

Another over-hyped American fast food restaurant opened in Central London, and people queued for months. When I finally went, I was severely disappointed by the burger itself, the milkshake lived up to its reputation, but I was very pleasantly surprised by the fries. Worth noting is that the eating area of the restaurant, while under the roof of the Covent Garden market, is in the open air, so bring a coat unless you're going in the summer.

Popped into Shake Shack to grab a shake after having had dinner somewhere else nearby, so unfortunately did not get to sample the food (though I was very tempted as it looked and smelled amazing).
The shake itself was amazing, if not very expensive, as is all of the menu. I will be back when my bank balance and calorific intake allow it.

We have only been to Shake Shack for the milk shakes, but it was absolutely worth it. The vanilla shake was as good as I hoped it would be and made me fill like I was back in the States! While we didn't eat a burger or fries, if looks are any indication, they have to be absolutely wonderful! The long lines suggest that this is the real deal and the next time we are back in Covent Garden, we will have the whole thing!

I keep returning (it's so conveniently located!) and I can type with confidence, the cheese fries are a must. The burger patties are on the small side as are the hot dogs, but service is fairly quick, you could do a lot worse then popping in for a quick bite.
A. J.
Tasty burger and good chips, plus you have a choice of alcoholic drinks as well as your usual soft and shakes.
I had the SmokeShack which I would recommend, though I'd also suggest getting a double.
The way you wait for your food isn't perfect if you're there as a group but by no means ruins the experience.

A taste of home, this New York City original comes to London. The staff are friendly, efficient, and so nice to chat with, but they can't compare to the quality of the burgers and ice creams. If you get here early and don't mind the queues, this is not to be missed.

Lovely food and welcoming and helpful staff. I was taken aback by how helpful the staff were. They are very attentive. I would especially like to say thank you to Jordan and Marissa for being so much more than just waitresses. I appreciated the extra care. Keep it up. Will look forward to coming back again.

Great burger, had the Smoke Shack with sweet chilli peppers. Fries are crispy, not very seasoned but good with the cheese sauce. Tasty shakes, very similar to a 'Blizzard' from Dairy Queen. Expensive overall as you pay per item and there are no combo meals. Beware the queues are very, long so the wait time to order was 25 mins.
I. A. A.
Tasty burgers even tho I found hair in it lol, but they offered me another burger or shake and solved it quickly, and the prices are reasonable.

First of all I need to note that, with burger places, I rate them relative to their own ilk. To it's contemporaries like Honest Burger, Byron, Steak Haché, MeatLiquor, etc. Shake Shack is reasonably good. The crinkle cut fries are decent and the burgers are decent, but there are better places to go for fries and burgers. The milkshakes are really good and make up for the lack of originality.
A. V.
The best taste of Burger with a lovely place.
H. H.
Good burgers, however a little small for the price. Staff was alright I guess. I expected them to ask whether I wanted ketchup or mayo with the fries, they didn't, so I got them dry.
G. S.
The burgers are definitely tasty for the price. Nothing surprising there. I expected the food to get ready faster, but it was adequate. Sitting area is alright.

Love a bit of shake shack
J. Z.
Your favorite American fast food burgers and cheese fries in London. Although the food is good, you will probably have to sit outside what is uncomfortable during most of the seasons. There are sittings inside, but very few and it's always busy over there.
W. N.
People complaining about the price, I was in NY in May, and I had one in Covent Garden in Aug, had a single shack burger with chips both times, cos me around US$7 in NY, £7.50 in London... so actually is not that much of a different since living cost in UK is higher than the US...
Waiting time was ok as well, I went there around 7:30pm Wed evening, had my burger within 15 min from queuing to collection.
Staff are friendly, love to chat and willing to give you suggestions if you dunno what to order.
d.
We ordered 2 'fries' (come on they're chips) , 2 cheeseburgers, 1 coke and 1 lemonade. The chips were nice 9/10 , lemonade was pretty cold and nice. Burgers were alright but the time it took to serve us was alot.
H. S.
Everytime I´m in London i visit Shake Shack and you always get a good meal and good service :)
The burger is fantastic, fries are crispy, really refreshing lemonade and the best custard-chocolate shake ever!!
It´s fastfood with extra service. You order your food and if they´re not to busy they will bring you the food with a smile :)
S. T.
Always crowded, loud and yes be aware of birds if you seat outside, friendly customer service and yummy food as always
G. S.
The place is split into two - you order in one building, then cross over to another to sit down. They give you a buzzer to tell you when your food is ready, and it was quite quick, about 5 minutes from ordering.
The food is tasty - I had the Hot Dog (I know it has a 'witty' name I can't remember) and fries. The hot dog was good & beefy, but small for the money. The chips were of the crinkle and previously frozen variety, so just ok.
The staff are very nice and didn't try to upsell me with the various add-ons, thanks!
I went around 7.30pm on a Tuesday night, not when they have the massive queues.
M. F.
The food was good. The wait was not...
A. K.
Good location in the middle of Covent Garden. Waiter was really nice and found space for our fairly large group. The food/burgers however was pretty average and completely overpriced. For around £17 for a burger incl. bacon plus chips and a beer you'd expect at least something at Haché level and not BK. If you want a decent burger, there are better places (Haché or Honest for example)
C. S.
Decided to try Shake Shack to see what all the fuss was about - shouldn't have bothered. Burgers were fine but nothing special and certainly not worth queueing for.
V. D. P.
Better than the US! Even though their burgers are a bit more expensive the food is really good. If you are looking for a good burger, give this one a try!

Great shakes & super chicken burger.
R. C.
Not as good as the Vegas one, but tasty for the UK.
S. 2.
Had a milkshake which was 10/10 good value, quick, great shake. The outside area was really dirty, food and napkins on the floor could benefit from someone cleaning the floor and tables. The toilets were also grim - no toilet roll.

My first Shake-Shack burger 🍔
E. J.
One of the only fast food restaurants to put me in a food coma. Which is a good thing!
From the crinkle fries to the burgers to the frozen custard - my absolute favorite dessert in London - Shake Shack really does live up to it's New York famed reputation.
The frozen custard flavors change every week, then every month so there's always something new to try - and a great excuses to eat it every time you're visiting Covent Garden.
N. R.
Went there a couple of Saturdays ago for lunch while in Covent Garden. Arrived shortly after midday, ordered in about 10 minutes and our food was ready about 5 minutes after that.
With all the hype surrounding this place I kind of expected more, but having had a week or two to reflect (and try a couple of other places) I think I was being unreasonable and would probably now put this in my top 5 burger spots in London.
If you want to miss the queues then avoid the busy times and if you want a cheaper burger then go to the golden arches.

After trying the original shakeshack in manhattan, I couldn't resist trying the Shake Shack version in London which is based in Covent Garden! Food is amazing, especially the Smoke Shack (always ask for double size!) plus the most amazing fries you could ever find in a burger place! Great value!
M. R.
The burgers and fries are pretty good but not very big and a bit overpriced
S. B.
The burger and chips were amazing!! Would definitely go here again.... just be warned the pigeons like to join you in case if crumbs 😂😂 but worth it for the food.
T. B.
AT LAST!! Shake shake comes to London and it doesn't disappoint.
Concretes are a bit smaller than the US equivalents but that doest matter because they taste great. Make sure you try the Hot Dogs as they are the best in London.
You'll need to lie down afterwards but its more than worth it.

I used to live around the corner to Shake Shack and at one point in my life, had Shake Shack four times a week. I was excited to learn that Shake Shack was now open in Covent Garden but disappointed that the quality of the food (I had a burger, fries, salted caramel drink and a shake) doesn't quite live up to the Madison Garden SS in NYC. Don't waste your sterling on the salted caramel drink - unless you're a fan of drinking thick syrups. Skip the fries too - they're overcooked and too salty. Burger is the best thing on offer.

As I was in the area, I thought I'd give ShakeShack a go to see how it compared to the likes of Patty&Bun and Bleecker Street. I was immediately put off by the massive queue just to order, but to be fair it moved very quickly.
I ordered a double ShackMeister burger, cheese fries and a frozen custard ice cream.
Then came the next wait, as you are handed a buzzer, which alerts one to a ready-order. 20mins later, it buzzes and I eagerly pick up my tray. Next problem: getting a seat, which takes a few minutes.
So, its been about 40mins from joining the queue to getting to the point where you're sat down ready to tuck in. This burger had better be worth it, I think as I take my first intrepid bite. To be honest, I wasn't expecting anything amazing given the variability of the reviews on Google.
I was pleasantly surprised.
The burger itself is quite compact and tidy compared to Patty&Bun's gooey messes. The buns were super-soft, the parties were thick, juicey with a particularly "beefy" tasty. The crispy shallots complimented perfectly, and the cheese and sauce were not overpowering. It was a very good, well-balanced burger; neat and tidy with no incidental drippage.
If I were being super critical I'd say the patties could have done with a bit more seasoning. So, overall, I was very pleasantly surprised. Worth the wait? This first time, yes, but I'm not sure I'd want to do it regularly - ShakeShck seems to be a victim of its own success in this regard.
The cheesy fries were OK, I think the cheese was a bit too mild and would have preferred a bit more kick. The custard ice cream was fine, but nothing to shout about. But you were only interested in the burger right?
I guess one can do a lot in 40mins. You could run 5k. You could take a nap. You could take a dump. You could make love. Twice. You could also wait for a ShakeShack burger. None of those is a waste of time.

« The place to be » for my kids, good tasting food, pleasant and friendly staff, but at a cost, average price per head £12
However toilet facilities were “un-available to the clients” at this flagstore location. Headed off to find a loo only to return to see our food cleared away and our seats taken ....
J. K.
exuberant staff, and their shakes are really nice ((though they call it concrete or something along those lines).
Their burgers are also good, and it;s worth every penny... juicy patties and also soft buns... excellent fare for a quick bite
