Oh Hello! That was stunning! The brisket was so tender and packed with flavours! The chicken wings, the best I have had in a very long time, hands down! Seriously! Smoke meat house at its best! No questions asked!!
R. S.
I used to go to smokestak when it was on Dalston's streetfeast place and it was out of this world incredible.
Returned to the restaurant today and the food was good but had lost a little bit of it's edge - the brisket wasn't as juicy and was a bit cold but apart from that was good.
I'd return but do miss the excitement of them opening the barrel and cutting a piece to give to you straight away to eat with fingers out of a paper plate when piping hot and juicy.

Went there for dinner, and most of the food was really good. Beef brisket and beef rib was really soft and delicious. The appetiser was super comfy and chewy, don’t know the name but do get it. The toffee cake was nice as well if u like sweet and salty. Portion sizes are rather small so expect to spend around 20-30 per pax excluding drinks

My husband and I decided to swing by on a Friday night and we weren’t disappointed. We had beef brisket and pork ribs. Both were very flavourful and tender. We finished the brisket quickly but the pork ribs were heavy and pretty fatty so we weren’t able to finish them.
The beetroot was surprisingly good. Who knew that it would go so well with goat cheese and hazelnuts? I actually liked it the most. I’ll have it again next time, perhaps with the aubergine as well.
Overall, prices were reasonable for the serving size. Food was good but make sure to order veggie sides to balance everything out. Worth recommending!
c. b.
The one thing this city lacks is good smokehouse bbq meat restaurants. Smokestak, is one of very few. The meat was absolutely delicious, juicy, smoked, full of flavour. The sides are a must especially the fennel salad to break up the richness and saltiness of all the meat! Aubergine is gorgeous, if I was veggy I think I’d be happy with the sides! My fave is the brisket, not often you will find this on a menu.
5 stars because as I said it’s a rarity in london, it’s value for money, and the service was really great and friendly. Bish bash bosh!
J. S.
The wings for starters were very tasty but the amazement was soon lost when the mains came around, brisket was not 'brisket-like', felt the beef and pork lacked juices and relatively dry considering the prices we are paying for the mains. Nothing bad on starters though. I would only come here for a light snack for lunch in future as mains is quite poor in my opinion. 🤷♂️

Excellent food and service!
The staff really welcome you! Big asset for the company. Well done!👏👏👏
About the food, how to start? Simply delicious!
Crispy Ox Cheeks as starter was divine! Brisket and Pork Belly rib were incredible taste and tender! Definitely I want to come back!
*i just found this restaurant as my son watched in a series (Sheldon) about the brisket and we had to try it out!
P. M.
Great bbq restaurant perfect to meet up with friends over some amazing smoked meats. The beef brisket is the star, but also the side dishes like the fennel salad, salt baked beetroot and goats cheese all are highly recommended
S. S.
By far my favourite smoked meat place. Has always remained great on the food! Old fashioneds seem a little stingy on the alcohol but overall good. It's dogfriendly too! Go get your meat feast.
g. b.
Meat, mmm. Plus aubergine. Only minor niggle, most sauces were sweetish. We'd have liked some heat. Lush sticky toffee pudding. Pigs tail and ribs the best.
N. P.
Good service and great food. The wings are superb and the roasted the aubergine was really good. Portions are sized about right for the price and would recommend getting a few to share. Would have been nice to see a wider beer selection on tap but otherwise can’t fault the drink selection.

We were first time visitors for my boyfriend's 30th birthday yesterday evening on the recommendation of a couple of friends & through lots of researching on Google, and oh my god are we glad we did. We hadn't booked (in future we've learnt that even on a Monday booking is needed, the sign of a restaurant that knows what it's doing!) but were very fortunately found a table for 2. I'm not exaggerating when I say we are both in agreement that it is up there with (if not THE) best meal we've ever had. George (?) our server was so friendly and passionate about Smokestak and its food that he really made the evening for us too. I would personally strongly recommend the pigtails and brisket especially (and the rum punch!). We weren't even remotely hungry at the end but decided to share a toffee pudding - even that got demolished too. Thank you Smokestak we already can't wait to return with friends and family in the near future!

Went for the first time yesterday, and the food is just amazing! Probably one of the best pies I've ever eaten. I would definitely go back when im in London next 🤤👍
C.
I think that was one of the best bbq beef ribs I’ve ever had… Amazing atmosphere and the staff were very helpful and professional. It was great value imo, as we’ve spent £60 for two ppl, sharing 3 mains (beef brisket, beef rib and pulled pork), 2 sides (cabbage salad and chips), a chocolate dessert as well as a drink each. We were really full by the end of it!!! Will definitely come back for the £150 beef rib to share amongst more friends!
H. P.
So if it was not for this one really bad thing I would give this place 5 stars. So toilets were in really poor state, the one urinal was blocked, their was toilet paper all over the cubicle floor and there were flies everywhere in the toilets.
Apart from that major negative the food was fantastic, the staff polite and effective and I enjoyed the industrial techo ambiance. The meat is very tender and good quality but make sure to order some of the vegetable sides otherwise you'll definitely suffer from meat fatigue.
M. B.
Fantastic experience tonight at Smokestack. We reserved a table for 8.45pm on a Friday night. They were still full when we got there but were seated after about ten minutes.
The restaurant has a great vibe and The service is excellent.
Every member of staff that we spoke was pleasant and smiling which is rare in Shoreditch these days.
Food: crispy ox cheek and gochujang wings are great starters.
For main the brisket bun, pork bun (with excellent coleslaw) and the brisket with fries and pickled red cabbage. No complaints whatsoever
Dessert was dark chocolate cremoso, honeycomb which was excellent.
Drunk with some decent old fashions
Will definitely be back again.

Just awesome. Loved everything about this place, atmosphere, decor, staff, food and drinks. The service was fast friendly and really informative. The food was epic and the rhubarb sour is easily my favourite cocktail.
Can't wait to go back and eat the entire menu.
W. D.
Cannot fault this place, we've been two times now and both were just as good as the other. For someone who has never had ox cheek before or is even a massive meat eater, to be dreaming about the Ox Cheek starter the night before out of excitement shows how good this place is.
The meat just falls apart 🤤
Highly recommend! Get booking!
Y. M.
Big fan of pulled pork burger and fries. And the cocktails were just perfect. However, sauce on top of all their other foods such as wings, pig tails and their rib is far too sweet. Also their staff is amazing which really makes this a place to visit again and again. I have not tried their beef menu so cannot comment
G. R.
Favorite place in London. Food is great, quality is unbelievable and service is young and professional. The only suggestion? Update your wine list with some food French or Italian wines :)
M. S.
Fantastic food! Great environment, great service. Can't wait to visit again. Every dish was amazing and when you thought the last dish was the best, the next one was even better. Which ones to choose, the crispy and melt in the mouth ox cheeks, the crunchy yummy pork tails, or the smoky melt in the mouth brisket. Maybe the gochujang wings. Yum!
P. W.
Amazing experience!
Quality is 💯% real, highly recommend!
M. D.
Absolutely amazing! They really make something unique here especially here in London. Would recommend to have drinks and some pickles to go with the meat as it might be a little too fatty at some point.
M. H.
The place has a great Smokey atmosphere, all you’re expecting from a good bbq joint. But the dishes were served a bit too “one by one”, so we ended up having just meat without our salad order which would’ve been nice together to cut off the heaviness of the meat.
Surprisingly we’ve enjoyed the aubergine and mushroom on toast way better than the meat... but kudos to the sour cherry spritz!
J. G.
Received a recommendation from a close friend to visit SMOKESTAK and I'm so glad we took them up on it. The setting is perfect, just tucked in on the edge of Shoreditch surrounded by like minded bars and restaurants! The service was a little slow, but the food more than made up for it. This is absolutely hands down the best authentic BBQ I have ever had in the UK, I would challenge anyone to find better. The Pig Tails were to die for, Chicken Wings so succulent and the Beef Rib and Pulled Pork combo (sharing with the wife) was just a perfect crescendo. If you are in London and looking for BBQ, you have to visit SMOKESTAK!
S. S.
Absolutely fantastic place! Great staff make the food even more enjoyable and after trying to find a good smoke house in London for a while, we finally located it!
Service is quick, portions are generous and the quality is amazing, I never thought I’d be gushing over a baked beetroot, but I did.
Thanks to all the chefs and staff for doing an excellent job. 👍
T. P.
The best wings I've ever had. Great quality meat, so much on the bone, amazing crispy coating and a delish sauce!
Everything else maintained the standard. Nailed it
O. R.
The fact you’re essentially in a giant smoker can be a bit overwhelming, but the food more than makes up for it. Super friendly staff and a good wine list too. The pork belly is out of this world, as is the beetroot and goats cheese side dish.
J. F.
The venue is spacious and they serve excellent smoked meat!
P. A.
Hands down the best bbq meat restaurant in London - and that’s saying something. The flavour and tenderness they get into the brisket, pastrami, and pulled pork is truly amazing. The pork belly rib and beef ribs are also to die for. Even the ox cheek and chicken wing starters are tasty. Relaxed atmosphere (as you’d expect in shoreditch) and good service too. You can eat very well for only £50 a head including a few beers and cocktails too - outstanding value for money for this quality of food. This is one of those must eat places in London for meat fans for sure - it really doesn’t get much better than this. 18/20

Popped in as we were looking for a quick lunch somewhere and had not booked anything and managed to grab a table early in the afternoon. We went for the pulled pork and brisket buns that were delicious as well as some fries and a good helping of beer. Lovely place to sit and watch the world go by in the sun!

After reading the positive reviews online we were very excited to try SmokeStack, unfortunately we left feeling disappointed. The prices are extortionate for the portion size given. We ordered 2 orders of the brisket and thought we were only given 1 until we were told it was both portions combined. The slices were very thin and we were only given two which seemed a little bit of a stretch for £14.50 each. The service was very poor and we were left waiting 10 minutes with empty plates and again neglected for a long time while we waited for the bill I was surprised as the restaurant was not busy at the time we visited. Whilst the food is nice, I would not go expecting an expensive, good quality meal for your money and expect to leave still hungry.
M. C.
The go-to for great barbeque in the city. SMOKstak never disappoints with its array of dishes; essentially classic barbeque flavours meet modern dining. We dived right into the meats before taking a picture, so do pardon me for only sharing pictures of starters and desserts!
Through the pandemic lockdown, SMOKstak rolled out home delivery which was very welcome by my wife and I who are fans of this amazing restaurant.
C. H.
This place was genuinely fantastic. It’s some of the best bbq meats I’ve ever eaten, staff were amazing and it even had a good (even though it was a singular time) vegetarian offering. The beef brisket burger was phenomenal. Will definitely be back
I. T. (.
The best brisket you've ever had. Soft, juicy, smoky, full of flavour - it's the meat lover's ultimate culinary delight. Beautifully offset by mildly marinated sliced chilli and pickled gherkin, it softly teases your palate before producing a sensation of melt-in-your-mouth pure joy for the taste buds. Sadly, there are limits to how much joy you can stomach. Truly, less is more in this place. Savour every morsel. Don't fall into a gluttony trap...The setting is very fitting: a rare celebration of proper harmony between form and substance! Will be back.
S. W.
The food is incredible, the service and experience however, are the exact opposite. Waiters and FOH are very unprofessional and inattentive. When we were given an inconveniently placed table and simply asked if it was possible to move to the nearest available one the staff member actually sighed loudly before checking, making us extremely uncomfortable. The terrace seats are small, tough and rough. A simple addition of a cushion would make a huge difference. Don't expect good COVID safety measures, as the tables are close together and half of the staff doesn't wear a mask outdoors and indoors (particularly one redheaded woman). There is no care for basics of waiting and hospitality such as providing wet tissues for messy dishes like the (incredible) gochujang wings, taking away finished plates and used napkins, or even filling up your empty water bottle. Expect to call a waiter for the most simple and obvious requests because they will never do it for you.
Nonetheless, the food is so good you will inevitably go back. I recommend the gochujang wings, the brisket bun, the pork belly and the delicious sticky toffee dessert. I do wish for the staff to be trained properly because it is disappointing and unfair that the only thing this place has going for it is the food. I will definitely not make the mistake of celebrating any occasion in this place again.

If you love barbecue that delights the tastebuds, drinks that leave you wanting more, service with a smile, a cool alternative location and fast, efficient food - this place is for you!
I wasn't expecting much, and boy - was I wrong.
I walked in without a reservation, taking a chance and was (luckily) offered a table.
The menu is small, but filled with mouth-watering items done to perfection. Each dish I tasted was honeslty some of the best of their kind that I can remember.
We ordered two starters and two mains. Each one was exceptional, with every component carefully considered. From cabbage coleslaw with mint, to fries with garlic mayo for some added depth.
I was told by the bubbly, beaming manager that the creator of the restaurant lived in America for three years learning how to perfect barbecue - and I definitely agree with the statement.
The staff are extremely friendly and made our meal even more of a delight with a (complimentary dessert even!). I cannot recommend this place more highly - if you're thinking about it - go!
P. H.
Unbelievably good cuts of meat and delightful array of vegetables and sides. The pork belly and aubergine were real standouts! Serving sizes are generous enough to fill a hungry appetite. Our group of 6 were really please with the service and the outdoor heaters kept us warm on a cool autumn night.
R. D.
Loved our meal here on Saturday. A group of 5 out for our Xmas meal. Set menu was great and plentiful and service great. Food was outstanding. The only slight criticism is there weren’t really enough sides to break up the meat so would suggest bigger salads/ more potatoes.. other than that fantastic
H. B.
Being from Texas, home of the world's best smoked brisket, I certainly know good smoked meat when I eat it. Smokestak is some of the best I've ever had! Don't miss the pastrami or pork belly. It was unreal.
J. E.
Extremely satisfied with the meal. Just a tip, don't ask for it to be spicy until you don't have a good tolerance of spice
O. B.
Absolutely incredible food, we got the beef brisket, pork rib and a portion of chips between a couple and it was plenty of food. The drinks (iced tea and lemonade) were a bit too sour for us but the quality of the food more than made up for it
M. Z.
Pork belly ribs were outstanding! The staff was very friendly and polite. Fried chicken was a bit underwhelming.Wished we had tried the beef brisket that looked exceptional
M. S.
Tasty bbq! Cane here on the 4 for 10 eat out to help out offer. The crispy pig tails were really tasty. The brisket burger was also very good. Aubergine was reasonably good although I remember it being better on my previous visit. Chips were fresh albeit a bit over salted. The malt ice cream was tasty & refreshing. Customer service was very good, it was maybe a little loud inside.
J. L.
Eat out to help out- great deal and amazing taste! We went different burgers but i regret that, should have 2 beef brisket, soooo good! We had pig tail and salsa to start with, pig tail was very crispy. Had caramel ice cream for dessert, loved it but it melted quite quickly, so eat fast or it can get messy haha. Recommend!!
M. P.
Tasty menu and great atmosphere!
The photo attached includes 3 dishes.
Albeit not leaving hungry I'd consider whether I'd go back to this restau.
R. A.
Wow! Just left this place and I already want to go back! The food was amazing and the service was also excellent. The only downside to our experience was the lack of social distancing between the tables.
We arrived for Tuesday lunch expecting it to be relatively quiet, but all the tables were full as we were leaving. The have put in place the QR track and trace code and also have their menu online (accessed through another QR code which links to their website). All staff are also wearing face masks and guests are told to do so as they walk to their seats. But the tables are packed way too close together to follow social distancing rules which is a shame. There was another table directly behind me, but we were faced away from each other I guess...
Now on to the food! They're running an offer of 4 for £15 when we went (starters, mains, side and dessert), but as that menu is quite limited, we also tried some dishes in their normal menu also. Their dishes are designed to be shared and you will only need about 5-7 dishes between two of you to feel absolutely stuffed. We liked every dish we tried - particularly the Ox cheeks, Mac & cheese, Padron peppers and Crispy Pigtails (be prepared to get your hands dirty for this one!). The Charred pork belly rib was also excellent, with an apple pickle which complemented the meat well.
Overall we spent just under £50 for 8 dishes including one salted caramel gelato to share which came as part of the 4 for £15 offer. We didn't order any drinks, but think the meal overall well worth the price. Would highly recommend if you're in the area, or even if you're not and just want some good food!

An Amazing restaurant! You can smell the smokers wafting down the street. We came here on a rainy Sunday afternoon and thankfully the outdoor seating was covered. We had wings, pastrami and Ox cheek croquettes to start, followed by belly pork ribs. Truly delicious, all smoked and cooked beautifully, come here if you love meat!
P. S.
Food was absolutely delicious! Great customer service from staff. I really enjoyed the food, the chef kindly added some pork ribs to my beef ribs because he said we waited a while - I didn't even notice to be honest. I was just happy they had everything on their menu as we came here late because we went to another rib joint nearby and they had no food. So I'm glad I enjoyed this meal with my hubby and son.
A.
great atmosphere and really enjoyed the dark moody setting, in terms of food - possibly the softest beef I have ever had in my life ! If I had to complain I'd say the gochujang wings were too sweet and didn't have enough gochujang paste and the anchovy mayo wasnt fragrant enough. other than that it was delicious and we had great attentive service. also keep in mind it is a smokehouse, so very smokey and hot inside (my eyes watered a bit towards the end).
M. H.
I wanted to give this place 5 stars for the food alone, as it was absolutely incredible. I'm giving 4 however, as the lemonade they served me tasted like straight lemon juice. It was so sour and managed to distract me enough from the quality of the food that I can't give 5 stars.
Definitely try eating here, just avoid their lemonade and you'll be fine!
B. W.
Everything was great..but the pastrami was sensational. Great staff awesome vibe.
R.
This is a very special place, cool and edgy and very different to where we normally go for business lunches.
The staff are friendly, we weren't in a rush which was fortunate as we had to wait a long time to be served if we had to get back sooner or had been there with a client this would have been a problem.
But it was fine we found a solution and ordered 2 drinks at a time each, the cocktails are yummy, the food is absolutely amazing,...epic, we couldn't stop talking about it.
People were calling family members & clients to tell them about this place.
Everyone loved it and it will defo be the place we recommend to...everyone.
We tried everything on the menu, when I ordered the aubergine there were lots of eewww from middle aged men... but as I suspected Smokestak know how to make a vegetable sing
If you're a carnivore this is the place for you...pig and cow cooked to perfection and sooo tasty.
As you can tell I really do love this place...ha!
G. d. b.
Love this place, I've been here several times.
Amazing food but the customer service it's not that great.
L. M.
Amazing food, super delicious. The beef brisket and pork belly combo is incredible!
Got to check it out
I. F.
I never knew meat could taste that good! It’s actually made us question what we’ve eating and cooking up until now. The brisket especially is out of this world. The place was packed and yet the service was excellent. Attentive, polite and efficient. I wish I’d gotten our servers name as she deserves a special mention. She was fab. I dropped a fork and before I could dust it off she’s replaced it for me. Thanks guys, you really blew us away.
T. M.
Very pleasant atmosphere! The cuisine is varied and a good choice. Delicious and beautiful serving! We celebrated a family holiday here
V. V.
Brilliant!!! Never ate such tasty and smokey food. Everything is smoked in this restaurant, from meat to veggies.
Mind you, by the time you are done eating, you'll be fully smoked too so don't be surprised about that! :) you'll need a good shower and a change of clothes before you go anywhere else...but it's a fair price to pay to enjoy this unique place!
J. S.
Enjoyed this place tremendously. Fantastic meats cooked to perfection. Chicken wings and brisket topped our list. Dessert and soft drinks were perfect amount of sweet to balance the meats out too.
Chilled and easy going service. Will be back and will be recommending to friends. Thanks for a great meal!

Had a good Friday evening dinner at the socially distanced version of Smokestak. With their menu limited in response to current happenings, we ordered the beef and pork belly ribs with a ginger slaw to share.
The pork belly was tasty with the more burnt parts definitely being my favourite. The beef rib was slightly dry, so I’d opt for the fattier meat option.
The desserts were my favourite part of the meal. The ginger ice cream was amazing, served with a nice sticky toffee pudding. I know it should be sticky toffee pudding with ice cream, but that ginger ice cream definitely was the main event!
Please like if you found this helpful!

I love this place!!!!!!! My wife and I came to London for a short break. We booked here, sadly my wife fell ill. The staff were amazing, so kind. We did order food, which was also amazing. But we decided to go back again, so my wife could enjoy the place. The food again was incredible. The chef showed me how it was all done. I thank the kind waitress, with the long hair, for being so kind. What a restaurant.
H. B.
Really tasty food and lovely staff. The brisket was so tasty!! Only let down by the food coming at different times (sides came out after mains had been eaten) and the toilet situation.
The menu could be improved with some headers to understand what's what
I. C.
The menu is full of really exciting things. Some highlights were the 'smoked pastrami, pickles, mustard and dill' and the 'crispy ox cheek and anchovy mayo'. I think next time, I would order more smaller dishes like these. Smokestak is definitely a place for some drinks and 'tapas' style food. I didn't quite like the pulled-pork styled dishes, but that's a personal preference!
D. F.
Staff friendly and helpful. But when you think of bbq you think of big portions of smoky and sweet food, this place does not deliver. The food is delicious but the portions are tight for the price. You should also avoid any outdoor seating as it's not comfortable or pleasant
A. P.
I can't say enough about how wow the Smokestak experience was. The food was so tasty. The smoked meat on the menu lived up to the reputation that drew us here in the first place. The veggie option was super tasty as well. Saved a little bit of room for dessert - it was worth it. If I lived here - I'd be a regular.
M. W.
Food is great, loved the brisket and the coal roasted aubergine.
Most staff were friendly but our server was almost comically terrible, made no pretense throughout the whole transaction that we were anything other than an inconvenience, didn't listen to our order (and so got it wrong) just stood around impatiently asking "is that it?". Will give the benefit of the doubt and assume we just caught her/them on a bad day.
The menu (via QR code only) isn't super clear about what are starters, mains etc, and no guidance about it from the server obvs. The Brisket bun, while it tasted great, wasn't really main course sized so needs supplementing with a decent number of sides.
Overall good food but could do with a bit less attitude.
D. P.
This place was awesome!!! Have had BBQ from all over the states and while this doesn’t fit any of the US styles, I put the flavors and tenderness right up there. It is a little on the speedy side but well worth it!!!
T. A.
Very nice experience, brisket was amazing, a real smoked stuff. also I ordered crunchy beef cheek same as brisket extra amazing but I suggest increasing portions in both, brisket was 2 slices which wasn't enough to me and cheeks were 3 cubes, also they have to include gloves to dive into the experience, they were surprised when I asked for.. generaly it gets 8 from 10 only cause of quantities, other than that big 10...
M.
Out of standing
Lovely atmosphere
The waiters is so helpful
Food is amazing
Don't miss the starter
Wish them all the best
A. C.
What a great discovery! The staff was so so so nice and since we were there for the 1st time (and definitely not the last!)they took the time to explain the menu. Everything was so incredibly good! The beef ribs were to die for and the brisket bun was also a favourite. A bit of wait though...
But such a niche atmosphere
Y. L.
The pulled bbq sandwich was so juicy and salty (in a good way). The bun also had a nice, warm texture.
The sausage had great flavor as well but it was overcooked and crumbly.
The grilled aubergine had too many toppings so you could taste the aubergine itself
P. R.
The toffee cake was nice as well if u like sweet and salty. Portion sizes are rather small so expect to spend around 20-30 per pax excluding drinks
L. T. T.
had the most amazing experience here - got two of the 4for10 promo that they were running (4 courses for £10) as part of the #eatouttohelpout scheme. got the tortilla with charred corn salsa and the tortilla with smoked cod’s roe + the bun with beef brisket and the bun with pulled pork + two of the fries with aioli + the malt soft service and the mango sorbet. also ordered a pint of beer and the passion fruit green tea drink (non-alcoholic). strongly recommend getting the green tea drink as it’s super refreshing - much needed for the intense flavour bombs to follow!! honestly every single one of the dishes had really intense and unique flavours that i can’t really put into words (even the desserts!!) so would definitely recommend for you to check it out yourself :—) get ready for the flavour rollercoaster ride of your life
A. L.
Good vibes, delicious food, and decent price! Roast pig tail and the brisket burger are to die for!🤤🤤🤤And the cocktail is amazing as well!Looking forward to getting drunk after lockdown.
A. B.
Great atmosphere, nice beer, wine and friendly staff. However we were disappointed with the pulled pork bun, not much meat inside and the beef rib tasted more like corned beef with no real grill or smoke flavour, which is disappointing at £19.
P. M.
Wow! Excellent service on a Thursday lunchtime. First time visiting and will not be the last. Melt in the mouth dishes including pigtails, ox cheek croquettes, brisket bun, beef rib on the bone all washed down with gorgeous pale ale. Shout out to our server, (Didn't get his name) who was on it! Been to a few similar places in the USA and this is right up there on the level.
K. E.
Went here with friends for EOTHO, we didn't have a reservation and you can't virtually queue so we did have to wait a while for an outside table, but they allow you to order drinks - so this makes the time go by quickly! All of the staff were super friendly, helpful, and had great chat, I think they really added to building up the atmosphere of the restaurant. They're doing 4 for £10 on EOTHO - Not huge portions but I felt pretty full by the end of the meal. My brisket burger was my highlight and I wish I had savoured every bite. It was very tender meat. The fries and aioli were good, but had a salt on them I wasn't super into, not sure what it was. Salted caramel gelato at the end is a perfect sweet finish.
A. B.
Probably the best BBQ restaurant in London!!! Everything's perfect: food, drinks, service and the place!
Ps: vegetarians do not fear, veggie dishes are amazing as well
J. H.
The aged beef rib is undeniable. Great service and experience
C. M.
Shaking start with only entrance being crowded and staff not really knowing what was happening.
But the service improved 10fold once we got to our table. Our waiter was friendly and organised and really made our evening special.
The food was great and very filling. The pork belly was delicious. And we enjoyed the beer as well.
Definitely recommend for a good night out!
M. V.
Food was exquisite as I'm used to from this place. Super tender and packed full of flavour. Our waiter Olly also went the extra mile when he heard of an allergy on our table. What a star! Great place for amazing food in a casual setting.
S. T.
Been to smokestak about 10 times, never disappoints and is one of my fav restaurants in London. The sticky toffee pudding is amazing!
A.
Great food and definitely a meat focussed restaurant but enough interesting vegetarian options too - particularly enjoyed the aubergine and the beetroot dishes. I’m mostly vegetarian but cave at the ox cheek cubes here every time (so good). The dark chocolate mousse pudding was amazing. Service is excellent and I think pricing is good for the quality of the food. We’ve been here a number of times and it’s always good.
R. K.
Food was great, I think the seating and service holds this back from 5/5 though.
Food - everything was great, no complaints here on what we ate. For the feasting menu, more flatbread could be provided - we had 3 huge bowls of dip, 1 of them was mostly left out, but we had to ask for more flatbread to get through just the two. Probably could have done with fewer chips as well, they were just wasted given how much other great food was given with the feasting menu.
Seating - we booked a table for 7, we got a booth for 6 with a stool on the end. There was just enough room for everyone but the guy on the end kept getting bumped into. Even for a 6 it would have been quite cramped though, a couple of people had to keep standing to give our backsides/legs a break.
Service - it was about 20 minutes between arriving and being offered drinks. A drinks menu wasn't provided until we asked for one which felt a bit odd. We were there for about 3 hours and were offered drinks twice, shame. We were also waiting about 15 minutes for the bill after asking for it, which in those wooden seats felt like much longer.
Would definitely come back, maybe with less people though.
S. P.
Every dish we tried was tremendously tasty.
But the experience is ruined by the portion size, which is an absolute joke. You pay around £15 for 2 littlle slices of brisket and that's considered a main...
G. S.
Where to start? The staff was Amazing, they were so busy, yet, very happy, smiley and helpful. Kristi (sorry if the spelling is wrong), our waiter, was super sweet, very passionate and knowledgeable about the food and wine on the menu. The food... how best to describe it? An orgasm in your mouth! You have to try the crispy ox cheek with anchovy mayo, it is just sublime! The brisket and beef rib melted in your mouth like butter and so flavoursom, accompanied with the grilled hispi cabbage and raw brocoli sides, what a perfect combo. Who knew raw brocoli could be so yummi, a revelation! We had an amazing time with my partner for his birthday, simply the best!
M. H.
Excellent service, really fast, and furniture that doesn't wobble (The Ivy....take note). The beef rib was good, but unremarkable, the pork however was superb. As was the mint, red onion and cabbage slaw.
Go there, but have the pork.
M. S.
The aubergine and the buns are out of this world. Service is really good and the portions are huge, good prices. Amazing place! Would definitely recommend it
G. S.
First time in Smokestack and I thoroughly enjoyed it. All the food really is excellent. The only reason I’m not giving it 5 stars is that their larger (you only have one option) was room temperature on serving which was unfortunate. Other than that, would go again.
D. I.
What a great place for all meat lovers out there. I have tried brisket, pork and beef ribs. Everything was amazing.
A. A.
Smokey delicious!! Highly recommend this great restaurant. Huge win with the choice of 4 courses for just £15 (September eat out to help out deal)
Z. R.
I call this marvelous restaurant once a month since I enjoy the special air that is characterizes this place. The team is highly loyal and professional. The service is very fast. Also, the food you eat is first-rate. I came many times and I was always joyful. The price is modest. I suggest this restaurant to to everybody.
Y. E.
A fantastic BBQ joint with such delicious options to choose from. Their dishes are made to share some you get to try various options. While the best dishes were stellar, the fish and vegetarian dishes were beyond phenomenal.
J. B.
The food is obviously amazing, but the real treat are the staff. They are lovely. This place will forever be in our top 10.
J. C.
Amazing meat spot. Definitely will go again
L.
AWESOME!!! SPECTACULAR!!! AMAZING!!! TREMENDOUS!!! STUNNING!!!.... One of the best barbecue restaurant/steak house in town. Everything was perfect, mouthwatering but the ox cheek was goosebumps, something like a mouth sex. All the meats were perfectly cooked and delicious. The service was excellent, friendly and with a good knowledge about the dishes. Definitely I'll go again to try more and I highly recommended this place.
C. T.
Came here for lunch and had amazing experience. Small portion of food but great atmosphere. Many veggie options and it tastes fantastic. Would return again with friends.
N. M.
This place is just so cool! Everything is delicious and it's not actually very expensive! It's perfect. The staff are really nice too. You can also order great cocktails.
S. B.
Really great food and filling, we were so full when we left. Our favourite was the pork belly and jacket potato, definitely try those. It's a sharing plate restaurant so get about 5-6 plates from the menu for 2 people.
Amazing customer service. We asked to move tables as we were in an awkward spot at first. Staff found us another table quickly and were very polite and accommodating. I'd recommend this place for anyone wanting a cool, unique experience.
G. B.
We were 4 people and had brisket bun, smoked bone, pork and fennel sausage, beef brisket, egg plant with nuts and... I do not remember. We loved it all. Great culinary experience. Thanks for that.
C.
Everything was brilliant. The service impeccable. The food outstanding. You have to try the Bone Marrow with flatbreads, one of the best things I've had in London
R. S.
Booked this restaurant for a Friday evening. The restaurant is in the heart of Shoreditch just off brick lane. We arrived and was promptly shown our table. The restaurant is a decent size and comfortable. The service was good and the waitress was quite knowledgeable about the food. They had a few beers and cocktails and a few wines to choose from. We had the beers which were quite good. The smoked and barbecued food was quite good. The ox cheek and beef brisket were very nice.
R. T.
This place has excellent service as well as yummy menu. The best restaurant in the city. The drinks and food served rapidly and the prices were affordable. I recommend this place.
r. d.
The quality of the food was generally pretty great. Found the portion sizes surprisingly small. 4 portions of brisket arrived at once on a plate and I genuinely mistook it for a single portion. Plenty of sides though which were very high quality.
J. C.
Stylish interior, friendly staff.
The food is absolutely stunning. MUST TRY.
Highly recommend: beef rib eye, mushrooms on toast, sea bream.
M.
One of the best restaurants in London.....amazing meat, soft and tasty, every dish was perfect...very good atmosphere and polite staff, really recommended
T. L.
AMAZING!!!!! The meat its so tender, the flavours you get from all the food is crazy it smells good and tastes fantastic!!!!!!
G. B.
Service was very slow on this occasion, but the food is insanely delicious as usual. We had the 4 for £15 deal, which includes a starter, bun with meat of choice (brisket pictured), side and ice cream to finish. Top tip: sit outside, or you'll go home smelling like burnt ends (not judging if that's what you like!). Kudos for the lovely blonde Aussie (hope I got that right) waitress who continued to check why our food was not coming out as promptly as expected!
F. S.
Perfect meal, from the starters to the desserts. Not sure what I could add. Couldn't find one weakness here. Pig tails!
M. B.
Have the pastrami app and the brisket main with 2 old fashioned’s. Thank me later
K. J.
I'd like to recommend the Brisket Bun along with the Gochujang wings-safe to say that the food was amazing, the staff was friendly and welcoming and it has a great atmosphere.
R. K.
Really great food; the smoker works wonders to any meat! The only dish I wasn’t too fond of was the brisket; which was a little dry. Other than that, I really enjoyed the ox cheeks and the charred greens with pomegranate and peanuts. And the toffee pudding was ridiculous. FYI :)
F. M.
Very crowded place and seating is pretty tight.
The food was good and the staff was fast.
A big disadvantage is that you smell like a smoked piece of meat when leaving the restaurant.
M. C.
Overall a nice place, good food and service. We ordered several starters and mains, see photos. All very delicious, pastrami and jacket potato stood out. Service was attentive at times, sometimes not at all. Overall imo a bit too pricy for what it is, especially the £13 for a couple of thin slices of brisket. Would go back though.
P. H.
Great food and a brilliant waiter who ordered for us to ensure we sampled all the tasty food on the menu. Recommend a visit.
P.
Lovely food, the brisket bun is genuinely amazing. Let down by a beer menu (I know it's not it's main focus) that struggles to accurately say what beer they're actually selling.
E. F.
Over-rated and over-priced.
Service is not bad, but they bundle up everything as its for one person, even if you are a party of 4.
The portions are very small, 4 slices of brisket per portion?
Z. Z. N.
Really good food and service was very quick too. Unfortunately they had limited options on the menu due to a power outage in the area.
Slightly on the noisy side and indeed very smoky!
J. M.
Mega food. Get the pigs head on toast as a starter, it's magnificent. Friendly service. Hard to figure out where the front door is haha
M. L.
absolutely delicious food but we didn’t enjoy the service (except for the waiter who did our drinks) other staff forgot about us at times and was really difficult to get anyones attention.
E. T.
Loved these guys since hawker house days. Quick service food, be prepared to be super full... Order beef ribs over pork ribs guys it's much more tender and juicier.
D.
Very decent BBQ👍
H. M.
Lovely staff, amazing food and cocktails. We booked a table and we were a little delayed in being seated due to the previous guys refusing to leave but the staff sorted it with a smile and a good laugh. Tried the majority of the cocktails on the menu and they were all delicious. Food was really good. Definitely recommend the pastrami for starters and the sticky toffee pudding. All the mains were incredible so hard to recommend one 😂 definitely recommend a visit!
H. O.
Excellent place for a group night out. The atmosphere is great, laid-back and the food is exquisite. Rather affordable it will leave you full but asking for more.
B. N.
Very nice atmosphere, friendly staff, good cocktails, amazing dishes and bbq, very tasty!!
S.
One of my favourite places to eat around Shoreditch! Love everything on the menu except the Pig Tails 😅 though it was a good experiment when a friend and I wanted to try something a bit "different"
T. U.
Amazing food as always but disappointed how they treat people now. Was hard enough to get a table that worked for us, but after two people dropped out due to Covid we were threatened with a £25 per head no show charge as we didn't notify them in advance... Pretty poor feeling to start the meal, we can't control people let alone Covid.
D. P.
Amazing restaurant with very tasty food and nice atmosphere. Brisket and pork rip were magnificent and super soft, but the true star was the ox cheek! I will definitely visit again.
N. C.
Outstanding. A must for meat & food lovers. Fabulous staff, great music/atmosphere & couldn’t recommend enough. Top place in the London scene.
K. W.
Great BBQ food, really well cooked and excellent flavours
J. C.
The meat is outstanding, the waiters are extremely polite and helpful. The sides are tasty. The drinks are good.
However its overpriced, we spent quite a lot on what was 2 drinks each (£90 for 2 people), a bit of meat and one side. Blues kitchen is much better value for money in my opinion, for the same grub.
Also, the toilets are absolutely grim.
I wouldn't go back.
P. T.
Food is goooooood. The ox cheek and brisket buns in particular were excellent. As were the charred greens. And pork belly. It was all good! Service is friendly and speedy! Also, book way way in advance (I’m talking weeks) for a table during the busy weekend/dinner period - or walk in at 6pm for an early dinner like I did. Can’t wait to go back and try the rest of the menu!
M. W.
Very good food from people who know how to treat a piece of meat 😉 brisket, pork belly and the veggie options all v tasty!! Quite expensive for the amount of food you get, wouldn't necessarily say great value for money.
A. L.
Brilliant smoke BBQ place. Food and drink were sublime. Staff were great. Lively atmosphere. Best ribs my son has ever had.
S. M. P.
Food here is outstanding! I am a vegetarian and had the roasted aubergine and the beetroot and everything was just delicious, really. I was longing for the toffee pudding for desert but the kitchen closed before the announced time and the waiter did not give us any heads up. A bit of a frustrating end to a tasty night.
N. V.
Delicious food. We had pork cheeks, pork tail, and pork jowls to start followed by the large pork ribs and brisket for mains. Sorbet and rhubarb crumble for desert. All excellent. Thoroughly stuffed. Cocktails were excellent too. Well worth a visit. I will definitely be going back
E. F.
Been before and I’ll be back again! Even under covid restrictions we had a great meal and still knocking up the best brisket in London
A. T.
Very reasonably priced menu with great choice if you like smoked, barbecued food.
The crispy ox cheek starter is great and the beef rib is worth trying.
Definitely recommended!
B. L.
Great place yo got for food drinks if you want to escape the crowds of Brick Lane during the afternoon. Started off having a fee drinks, service eas great. Then stayed on having food. I had the pulled the pulled lork bun which tasted amazing.
o. m.
Cannot wait to go back!!
We went with a group of 10 friends to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday.
The rustic look of the place definitely contributed to the vibe, it was so much so that when we arrived the place looks so rustic we thought is was abandoned and it took us a few to understand where the entry door is 😬
We did manage to find it eventually and thing got better and better.
I had their house ale which went very well with the food.
And since we were a lot o people each group of four ordered a bunch of dishes and sheared.
We had the brisket bun (WOW), crispy ox cheek (WaaaOW!), coal roared aubergine (very good), beef brisket (very good), spinach, charred greens, whole lemon sole and of course- sticky toffee pudding (absolutely delicious)
Most of the food was amazing, some was nice. Very much looking forward to going back there!
A. C. C.
The beef brisket was amazing. Very good salads. Good sticky toffee pudding. Staff was nice. We sat at a table outside, it's right by the street, but there wasn't much traffic, so it was ok. Nice staff.
C. B.
Very tasty food, the service was good in the beginning. But as soon as you finished the food the staff were constantly at the table and we felt we were being rushed out to make room for the next customers.
It was a real shame as the flavours were really good and the meat was cooked very nicely with some good vegetable sides. Its a bit pricey for the amount of food you get. I would say I have tried it once, it was good but wouldnt go back again as the atmosphere wasnt that great when you go out for dinner and you cant even just sit quietly for a moment after your meal. Really need to rethink their customer service considering they include a service charge in the bill.
A. F.
All I can say is superb, amazing and best meat feast I’ve ever head.
G. T.
Nice vibes. Beef cheek is tasty. Beef brisket looks better than it tastes. But still, I would go back again for sure
D. S.
Food was amazing, service great too! Relaxed feeling and great BBQ food, food quality was at a top level. Will definitely go again
R. H.
I love this venue a lot. theres a different ambiance. The meals are tasty. the service is powerful and the stuff is well trained. The price is fair. I highly recommend.
J. D. (.
Great food. Loved the brisket and jacket potato. The old fashioned was nice.
Friendly staff. Recommended!
L. t.
Absolutely gorgeous food, melt in the mouth meat and fantastic service. Really good vibe in the place. Will definitely return.
a. t.
Great place! Smoking good food and genuinely friendly staff. Don't miss the Brisket! The desserts were surprisingly good too! Definitely going back!
E. M.
Best meat in the UK so far...very sophisticated American/Canadian style setting. Quite pricey though.
E. F.
Smokestak never dissapoints! Tasty and unique menu, lovely cocktails. Make sure to order the ox tail!!
R. R.
Top class smokehouse cuisine in an accessible location at extremely affordable rates. I was actually a big fan of the charred vegetables and the aubergine, and the meats (brisket and ribs) were phenomenal. Service was exceptional and the whole experience was worth it. Definitely worth the visit
P. I.
It is one of the unmissable experiences of London. It's so good it's not fair. Where fine dining meats taste and it all happens in an unassuming, laid back surrounding.
Later update:
I've revisited this place and the quality has remained the same, prices have gone a bit up but the experience is still worth the money many times over.
D.
Superb beef brickets! A little pricey though
D. T.
Booked for a table for 4 for a Saturday lunch and was blown away by food and service! Highlights include the entrees and side dishes - pigtails, baked jacket potato, beetroot and whole fish were all delicious and bill was affordable for what we had. Will definitely be coming back!
F. U.
The food is incredible and the service is extremely attentive. Make sure to book a table because it can be a long wait for a walk in. The ox cheeks and the aubergine dish were a highlight for me. Beer is served in a chilled glass which is fantastic. I have been here twice now and I’m looking forward to my third visit.
C. B.
Good food; great BBQ and salads. The sticky toffee pudding is superb.
A. H.
Went here just last night and give it tops mark for everything. The food was delicious (Beef brisket bun is heavenly!) and the service was great. It's also not reasonably priced with two of us eating till in a food coma for £36 (without drinks). Would definitely recommend going here and will be there again soon!
J. D.
I eat in this spot a lot since I work close by. I got to say their service is always awesome and they keep the place clean at all times. Pricing is affordable and they serve generous portions.
L. T. M.
This was incredibly good BBQ. And I'm from Texas so you can believe me! I will say that it was annoyingly crowded with loud, drunk people, but I suppose that's Shoreditch for you.
E. H.
Outstanding BBQ. An interesting fusion of the American BBQ scene (ex-Carolina). Full flavor of the meat and quality smoke. Balanced sauces. The slaw was flavorful on its own without relying on acid, great combo with meats. Beetroot salad a hit. They take the noble pursuit of lip smacking BBQ and made it their own. +Nice Bloody Mary’s
M. (.
5 star for the food , the quality and the taste is very hight, 5 star to the waiter Antonio, very polite, friendly and professional but portions are really small and there is no side like any salad/chips to make a nice complete plate..to make me say it's worth the price!
A. B.
Really good BBQ, very smokey dining room, small portions for what you pay, but very very nice. Maybe get a few mains between two and definitely try the desserts. Salted caramel ice cream is just a perfect finisher.
D. M.
Great food and great service!
G. W.
Great cooking. I am not sure how they make a jacket potato taste so good but I'm into it! :)
It's definitely on the heavier side for my palate but definitely worth the visit. :)
P. B.
Fantastic food and great service and without doubt the best chicken wings I have ever had!
C. C.
I’ve been to smokestak a few times and don’t take me wrong, the food is very good, the padron tempura, their bun, the pork, the beets, the chard greens, the potato,... everything is at a very good level of taste and execution. My concern at this particular restaurant is the cleanliness, there’s so many fruit flies behind the bars and in the basement, even during the winter, there’s something they they need to do... during your meal on the main floor you can see hen hanging around your food, even if this is a particular dark restaurant. I think they are a great busy venue and they squeeze people a bit too much and obviously it’s a casual place, it I think cleanliness shouldn’t be a problem in a place like this. Hope it gets sorted, I would like to go back for some great food.
S. B.
One of my must visit restaurants in London. In the photos, the best dishes I could eat every day. Every dish is a true surprise, even the salad and the potato
N. J.
Incredibly good meat. Everything incredible but don't miss the smoked pastrami. Friendly and helpful staff. Probably the best BBQ restaurant I've been to in London alongside Pitt Cue (now sadly closed).
F. V.
I walked past this restaurant many times and I always thought maybe it was another one of these English people love with cool atmosphere and okayish food. I am also not a big fan of meaty restaurants as I tend to find them boring, but this was REALLY good. All the dishes we ordered were so delicious, from starter to dessert. Will come back again, shame is so tough to book and find a table, but in this case it is well deserved!
J. w.
Great meal, we tried all the snack and had a main each and didn’t have room for anything else. Sat at the bar we were a bit cramped but the staff were lovely and we enjoyed watching the dishes as they were assembled.
A.
Lovely staff, well lit tables while still maintaining a dark and cozy ambiance. We had the NYE set menu and each plate was to die for. I thought I had gone to heaven when I took my first bite and I don’t believe in heaven.
A. J.
I have eaten here a bunch of times but last night was super disappointed. Brisket was ok (6/10), beef rib literally tasted of nothing and pork belly was ok (5/10), both smothered in bbq sauce which is a big no no and generally meat was not smoky. When spending £100 for two I’d expect a higher standard, I hope management takes a look at their process because I loved this place before
Update (26/9/20) the manager personally phoned me up to discuss and was genuinely glad of the honest feedback which is super refreshing and fantastic customer service. Team has kindly offered to host us free of charge and also planning to review their approaches based on feedback...... I wish other restaurants took feedback this seriously.
Also to call out, every other time I have eaten here it’s been great.
D. D.
WOW, just WOW! I booked this place, purely on the google reviews so we already had pretty high hopes. SMOKESTAK totally delivered and we had one of the best meals of our lives. We love food and the following turned out to be the perfect amount/combo for us:
STARTERS: salt baked beetroot + goat cheese, smoked pastrami, pickles, mustard + dill, coal roasted aubergine, red miso, toasted cashew. ALL amazing, but the pastrami was just so melt in the mouth delicious.
MAINS: beef brisket, mustard barbecue + charred pork belly rib. Incredible!
Personally we didn't need any chips or other sides as we were there for the meat - but from seeing other diners, the chips looked good. Pricing very reasonable!
Atmosphere was buzzing, but not overpowering or too noisy. Our server was excellent. Beer was cold and very tasty - esp the two tribes electric circus american pale, yum.
Definitely book, definitely go! Can't wait to go back, thank you SMOKESTAK!
R. V.
Love love love (times infinity). I've visited Smokestak as part of a large group (dinner- set menu), small group (dinner and lunch), couple (dinner and lunch) and the food is always amazing!!
Can you tell, this is currently our go to place.
Pick anything in the menu and it won't disappoint.
They cater to vegetarians as well.
If possible, try to get al carte menu for large(ish) group, I think they work out better.
P. S.
It is dark it is loud it is busy and it is good.
Meat is very tender and has a nice smokey bark to it. If you are in the area then come down and give it a try
Atmosphere: ⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Food: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Price: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
L. W.
Smokstak is the best BBQ I've had in London and the service is attentive. If the prices were a little lower then it would be 5*'s from me.
Definitely recommend a visit though.
Revisited a year later and the food was as good if not better. Putting the score up to five stars because the staff where super sound, beer was good, eat out to help out was on and the food was consistently great.
Adding more photos

Really tasty meat based restaurant off Shoreditch high road, the pork choices here are especially good, as was the salsa starter. Will be back soon to try some of the other dishes.
G. S.
Excellent! Factory like decoration. Clean wood tables. Amazing barbecue meats. Nice attention but food came at sloooow pace. Nice music but a bit noisy for my taste.
S. W.
Veeery nice food. They definitely know how to cook meat! Drink the Malbec, it tastes amazing! The desert was bigger then what they described, so that's always positive 😇
J. G.
Very busy place, you have to book a table. It's because of the delicious grilled meat they serve! The grilled veggies are also great option to add with your meal.
R. Z.
Great food and drinks, fantastic service. The ribs and pork belly are similar to the pop ups and definitely what you want to try!
J. B.
Nice food, good customer service but the seating was a bit tight.
C. L.
Been here for a birthday party, around 10 people, amazing food and very good service for big group.
B. I.
Great experience! The food is tasty and original.
A. M.
The best restaurant in London! Food amazing, good beers ans cocktails, good price and the service was excellent :) Ahh don't forget to order the dessert
D. B.
Amazing food & amazing service!!! I'll be back soon. 😉
C. W.
Smokestak serves up some really tasty food. We particularly enjoyed the pastrami, pig tails, sea bream ceviche etc. pretty much most of it! It's popular and gets busy quickly.
1.
Good but not amazing food, in my opinion it is a bit overrated and the portions are rather small. However, the price is still low so overall it is fine for what yoh get.
J. W.
Awesome food, excellent relaxed and personal service, great setting. Ox cheek nugs are special, good beers, there's a cool little cocktail menu too
S. G.
Outstanding food, great service, beautiful location
T. T.
Decent smoked meat, awesome corn on the cob. Most staff friendly but there was a moody one hence 3*
N. N.
Fantastic and tasty food, I loved the vibes the place has, and the workers were friendly. Will definitely eat here again.
L.
Went on a Wednesday evening. Fairly busy but managed to get seated within twenty minutes downstairs - great meat choices, also nice fish (sea bass photographed below and recommended) as well as tasty veggie sides. Restaurant certainly not for meat eaters only. Good local house lagers too. Decent value at 30/head for selection of starters, 2 mains and 4 beers. Would recommend for any type of event, upstairs definitely better vibes but probably requires booking (or longer wait). Downstairs also pleasant with a bar but maybe feels little detached from main upstairs part. Worth checking out? Yes 4/5.
A. S. (.
Food is very good, service decent, overpriced for the portion. Don't expect to eat as a American dining this is a quite "posh" smokehouse.
X. C.
Very basic table and chairs not comfortable. The brisket a bit tough. The guy that took us to the table when we eventually decided to come to the desk too cool for its own good. The waiter brilliant.
M. H.
Very trendy place. The small black sign was difficult to see from the outside and the doors were closed when we went, so it definitely could have looked more inviting!
We had excellent service from the staff at the bar though, and the food was absolutely incredible.
M. A.
Love the brisket! The atmosphere used to be nicer, don’t know exactly what has changed. And please bring back the potato cheese side dish as it was the bomb!
G. J.
They allow me to change my booking and gave me a seat promptly. Nice decor and ambience. Slightly expensive as the quantity not big. But the quality is nice. All the food are very rich though.
H. d. R.
A very good place for the fans of BBQ dishes. Smoked ribs, grille steaks etc. When the weather is nice, you can sit outside.
B. M. E.
Incredible consistency. Great BBQ. Meticulous staff. It really is one of my favourite restaurants.
Everything is delicious, well thought out and had nicely balanced flavours. Eclectic menu for a BBQ joint, but it works really well.
L. Z.
What a great place! It was quite late on Saturday night when we decided to come for a dinner, but even though it was close to kitchens closing time, the staff was brilliant and let us enjoy the whole experience of this place. The food was one of the best bbq meat I have ever eaten, but the veggies and desserts were also delicious. Not too expensive and the portions are generous. We had a few good craft beers, but finished with some cocktails which were as good as the food. Staff was very friendly, efficient and professional. The place has a really good vibe, loved the industrial decor, has its own style. Music was decent aswell, in general very relaxed atmosphere. Will definetly come back when in Shoreditch!
R. G.
Absolutely fantastic BBQ food.
The smoked brisket was outlandishly, ostentatiously moist, and I would do dark, dark things to be able to cook it this well. Ox cheek croquettes were great, as were the beef short ribs and the unctuous pork ribs (which were shot through with a generous amount of melt-in-the-mouth fat.)
It wasn't just about the meat, though. The wild mushrooms on toast were a fat slab of delicious umami and the jacket potato was utterly delicious -- tender potato, crispy skin, and topped with a thick layer of Welsh rarebit.
Cocktails were also great, the burnt peach Old Fashioned and plum whisky sour were highlights.
If I had to nitpick, I'd say: the décor might not be to your tastes (it's, ummm, very very Shoreditch - wait until you see the sink in the toilets...) and the stool seating at the bar was rather uncomfortable (they quickly moved us to a table when we asked nicely, though.) Another reviewer said it was expensive. We paid about £85 for a substantial dinner for two including three cocktails and a tip; considering the level of skill on display in the food I was very happy with that but YMMV.
Can't recommend it enough.

From the smell that welcomes you as soon as you enter and the vibes from this place makes you salivate with anticipation. The starters of pork tail, lamb ribs and ox cheeks were simply divine, soft and crunchy in all the right places. The salt baked beetroot was scrumptious. The pork belly and the brisket was good, though a little small in portion. With the veg to balance the fattiness the meal was a truly satisfying one. 10/10 would recommend. Make sure to book, cos they get busy really quickly!

This place was fantastic! We have been here today Sunday just before the place started to get full.
The interior is minimal and has an underground style with everything being black which makes it really cool. The music is also great, creating a unique vibe.
The food was awesome. We started with some crispy ox cheeks which were so tasteful served with some mayo dip on the side; not too oily, not too heavy, great to start with along with a cold beer.
We then had the brisket main dish (comes with red chillies and a BBQ mustard sauce) which was SO good, tender and crispy on the outside and the pork rib (comes with some lightly picked cucumbers) which was very nicely glazed but with a bit too much fat.
We chose as a side the salad in the menu which was just the best company for two pieces of meat: a refreshing combination of fennel, onions, pieces of oranges, herbs and topped with crushed peanuts. Just a bit too small for a side, wish it was double in the size!
We finished with a kind of trifle with shortbread, lemon curd, fig compote and pistachios which was so so delicious!
Overall it was a great choice and would go again and recommend it as well!
The only downside and this is why the 4 stars was the host of the night who apparently was not in the mood of accommodating us when we asked if a different (empty) table was available for us instead of the one he wanted to seat us. He claimed it was booked (without even checking the reservations system). 5 min later a couple was seated next to us and when they asked to be transferred to that same table he seated them gladly.
I called him to the table to tell him that this was not professional from his side although the rest of the service was really good and he didn't even bother to apologise.
However the manager in charge did apologise and thanked us for the feedback (when we told him what happened, as the host did not inform him) and even took a couple of things out of the bill, which is common in London but still a nice gesture of apology.
M. T. (.
Probably my favourite place to eat in London!!!!! Fact! The food is so good and light and meaty and indulgent. The short rib. The sliders. The pork belly. The beef cheeks. The potatoes. Even the charred lettuce. OH THE BRISKET
i. k.
me and my wife had a lovely dinner,
good meat! great salads.
light and not havey:)

Not great, not that bad is the summary of my experience here.
Let me start with food and service, it's quite expensive for what you get. They seem to have downsized portions because some starters and mains are smaller. They seem to recommend 2-3 mains per person which is expensive. Monkfish is £11.50 but you o ly get 2 pieces, one of which was droppes and replacement was not offered until we asked. It was then replaced 2 mins later which i don't believe was a new one esp considering how busy they were. Massive thumbs down for this. You get 3 pieces of ox cheek instead of 4 which was really salty, both the meat and sauce that came with. The jacket potato to me tasted more cheese than potato. The only thing tasty and close to good value for money were the pork ribs. For £15.50 beef rib, you get two thin medium slices of beef. £8 for aubergine is also not considered cheap or reasonable I don't think.
We were a large party of 9 and expected our own table for the 2 hours we booked it for but they sat extra people at the end out of the blue. Understandable if there were no spaces left and if we'd been asked but there were other tables available which were unoccupied the whole time we were there.
The atmosphere is rustic urban styled, slab flooring, wooden tables, exposed metal, etc. Normally I love this kind of this kind of decor but it failed here because the stools or flooring were uneven which resulted in a few near mishaps. Table was also uneven when placing drinks and food. Just don't get the big table with stools and you're fine. The toilet sinks were horrible to use. Its exposed piping and unpredictable spray is not a pleasant experience. Beware using it at the same time as someone else as the two taps are connected and they will affect each other. Suffice to say, you want the rustic charm but without the impracticalalities of it.
Overall I would not recommend if it's good food you're after. It was mostly very oily, small portioned and expensive. This is a good place for drinks and a chat but not a full blown dinner. Menu choice is limited too.
D. S.
Great food - I mean really great food!! (If you like meat and the authentic taste of the outdoors) - a simple small menu of various sharing plates... very charming staff - an eclectic mix of people.. all having fun getting very well fed.... Perfect!!
B. S.
This is the place that your nose will lead you to!
Amazing barbecue restaurant in the heart of Shoreditch. You can smell it miles away, so no need for directions.
Regardless if you're vegetarian or classic meat eater you'll find something delicious within perfectly barbecued dishes on Smokestak menu. My absolute favourites were sea bream crudo, charred greens and scallops but beetroot, January King or aubergine were as good as. Not mentioning the meat of course 😊
Decor is adequately rustic and quirky, front of house staff very friendly and chefs extremely skilled.
Definitely best bbq I've ever paid for. Already thinking of my next visit 😁👍👍
C. K.
Best BBQ in London. MUST VISIT for locals and tourists alike. More about quality than quantity so don't expect a Big Easy or Diner experience. Quality comes with a price tag so avg bill is around £40pp.
R. H.
Oh god it's good. You have to try it to believe it. Best brisket I've ever had (and I love my brisket), the fat on it was like candy. Nice cozy outdoor space and attentive, professional, but friendly staff.
L. P.
Excellent pastrami, brisket, ox cheek and pork belly! Well worth the visit. I’ll be back!
V. P.
Everything was delicious. It was a cut above regular barbecue. There were inventive twists on all the dishes.
A. V.
Those wings!
Run run run and book a table
Best wings in London
Good prices and great atmosphere
V. T.
Food is nice. Quite pricey for the portion sizes and staff were not overly helpful.
C. C.
The best brisket bun ever!!! We reserved online a table for two (if you don’t specify that you want a table in your booking, you will probably end up seating in a bar table) and it was a good choice because the place was completely full. The staff is incredibly welcoming and the atmosphere was very cozy. We tried the brisket bun (highly recommend!!!), jack potatoes, beef rib, pork rib (very good). Everything was very good but next time I will have just the brisket bun, it was the best bun that I ever had! If it’s your birthday, they will offer you a caramel ice cream with candle on top. Prices on average ( ~10£ for bun). Toilets downstairs.
I. Y.
Very delicious.
Not many interesting cuts when we went, apart from pig tails, but it was all cooked and flavoured really well.
S. S.
too busy drooling and loving the food to take proper pictures.
the burgers and the meat were incredible. they do a great selection of cocktails too
D. L.
A really special find in London! Really great food, cooked to perfection - every single dish was a hit. Smokestak is of course famous for their meat selection, which was delicious, but they executed their vegetable dishes (charred greens & aubergine pictured) perfectly as well.
Set in a dimly lit, industrial-style setting, this place is great for both big groups & more intimate dinners.
Must tries: charred greens, beef brisket, bone marrow flatbread (all pictured)
L.
Smokestak is absolutely one of my favourite places to eat in London, and I’m a vegetarian! The aubergine thing they do is outright unholy in its glorious magnificence, as are the salt baked beetroots and charred greens. And the rarebit potato? Good lord.
This isn’t pretentious complicated food, it’s modern, simple combinations of fabulous ingredients that just work, with all the smokey, charred love you’d expect from a BBQ. My meat-eating friends and partner all love it too, so I guess the carnivorous options are worth a punt as well, especially with this being a primarily meat-oriented spot!
Oh and the puddings? Sublime.
The staff are always friendly and attentive and the prices are surprisingly affordable for a trendy place like this.
F. F.
Cocktails were good, sides were awesome especially the Brocoli. Merguez isn't the best I've had but the pork belly rib was super tender and well flavoured.
G. C.
Delicious food. Very nice staff. Totally reccomend.
L. B.
Great for meat lovers! Their speciality is the brisket. I used to love their pork ribs as well but I think that now they have lowered the quality in general and it's fatter with more sauces and butter, but still a great option and very tasty. Hope they'll go back to their original quality which was 5 star!
L. D. V.
Incredibly tender melt-in-your-mouth meat - the brisket is especially fantastic (as are the ox cheeks), but even the vegetarian dishes (such as the miso roasted aubergine) are seriously impressive, as are the desserts and cocktails. All set in a stylish industrial interior. This is a place to come back to again and again.
E. B.
Very tasty smoked meat
C. L.
The brisket was SO good, so was everything else! I would have given 5/5, but the sticky toffee pudding wad bit too sugary( I definitely have a sweet tooth). Jacket potato was wao, even the skin tasted very crispy and delicious (yes, I ate the skin as well).
T. R.
Food and service was mega! Waiters and waitresses gave us brilliant service, food was awesome (especially the pig tails) and one of the chefs has a rocking beard, will definitely be going back!
A. R.
It was nice but the portions werent very big and the beef rib needed a sauce. Probably should have ordered more sides. Wish I'd had one of the buns or the flatbread instead. The staff were excellent.
N. P.
We had a selection of 3 sides and 6 mains between 4 of us. Brisket was a bit dry, wings not great, beef short ribs - devine (ordered an extra portion after the first). Aubergine did not have all the burnt skin removed, so tasted bitter. I would have given four stars if better value for money.
M. K.
The food was ok. The place is fun for drinking.
L. F.
Amazing food, lovely staff and great atmosphere.
V. K.
The food at this place is out of this world.
The Ox cheek is amazing !!
Mushroom on toast was delicious.
Pork belly simply melts in your mouth
The brisket is insanely tender
Auvergne with feta is to simply die for as is the potato jacket with mustard
The rating here isn’t a reflection of the quality of food but of the length of time it takes for food to be delivered. Food is actually a 5!!
The staff is lovely but needs support to deliver the exceptional food at exceptional levels of service
Would recommend but be prepared to wait.
C. K.
Probably the best bbq in London... The beef brisket bun is absolute perfection! The beef ribs were good but not amazing, while the vegetables ironically stole the show for the mains. The interior is really nicely done with an industrial vibe that offers a view of the open kitchen.
M. F.
As always, best BBQ place in town. Absolutely love it! Top brisket bun!
A. C.
Excelent food. The Is cheeks are great and must be tried when you visit Smokestack
O. M.
Very cozy environment, you get to relax and talk to your friends.
Beef rip is grilled perfectly, tender, juicy and flavorful. Salad looks colourful and can taste many different flavor.
M. S.
The beef brisket burger and aubergine are fantastic. All the dishes are very good, but I could have a whole meal consisting of multiple serving of the burger and aubergine.
N. T.
Great BBQ experience in London, especially their brisket.
M. L.
So first of all, if we’re rating this on how true Texas BBQ food tastes and that being 5 star, Smokestak is the closest I’ve found.
All round very nice BBQ food and will be going back without doubt.
M. D.
There's quite a few American bbq joints in London but very few of them get it right. These guys get it right and them some! The level of cooking on display is incredibly high.
Food is outstanding. Deep flavours but balanced and nuanced. The ribs (both pork and beef) are outstanding but so are the other items on the menu. Try the crispy pigs tails! Actually try as much as your stomach will allow you to! Drinks are fantastic as well. The peach old fashioned is one of the best I have tried.
This is seriously good food.
T. N.
Visited again Sept 2020
Ordered the smoked pastrami, beef brisket and port rib with skin on chips and the slaw. All dishes were delicious, couldn't fault it and could have eaten so much more. The meats are so tender and have that perfect bbq taste. Chips were good, really liked the aioil.
Lots of handsantiser around the restaurant
Very relaxed and casual place with great tasting bbq. Had the tempura pardon peppers which was delicious, the pork ribs (pic with cucmber), beef brisket (pic with chilli), charred greens and sticky toffee pudding. A very full and happy belly afterwards.
The seating could be more comfortable, the bar stools weren't safe and someone fell off theirs.
Staff were helpful with recommendations although the charred greens is covered with nuts, it does not say this on the menu. When paying the bill it was cheeky for staff to add £1 for charity without actually mentioning it to us. I'm happy to pay, but being told or given the choice would help. And 12.5% service charge is high for a place like that
D. D.
Amazing food! They don't do bookings so we were waiting for 40+ minutes, but it was worth it. Not for vegetarians mind.
D. C.
The food is phenomenal, the service even better. Would thoroughly recommend if you like your smoked food and a chilled atmosphere. The beers are also excellent.
b. m.
Amazing food! Very much liked the place! Was a little pricey for the wine but the meat made up for it! Try to avoid busy Friday/Saturday night.
G. H.
As soon as I walked in I loved this place. You are instantly hit by the smoked BBQ aroma, followed visually by the pass where the food leaving is prepared in full view for all to see and even the option to sit here. Staff were very helpful, allowing us to move table to suit our children, changing our order, and numerous cutlery that was replaced due to my 3 year old dropping it.....nothing was any hassle. The decor is cool and well suited to Shoreditch. Food, staff, place and service are excellent.
J.
Amazing food wow the best smoked meat i've ever had in my life!
M. K.
Delicious, make sure you book ahead. Everything on the menu is worth a shot
G. D. R.
Undoubtedly one of my favourite restaurants in London. I really like the atmosphere and the interior design is impeccable - big thumb up to the team who devised it. Food wise, the menu is made of a handful of dishes, so don’t expect a long list of many options. Personally, I love their brisket and aubergine - my two favourites by far. A great success among my friends visiting from abroad, too. Recommended!
M. V.
Great food! Very, very tasty stuff. Could do with some improvement on the drinks and service.
J. C.
Came on the recommendation of a good friend who knows me very well! Simply exceptional BBQ food. The ox cheeks and pork ribs were a highlight.
The prices are at the very top end of what I would consider paying and a 12.5% service charge was automatically added to our bill for a table of 3 customers, so points off for that!
I can definitely recommend Smokestak if you've recently been paid and fancy treating yourself to some quality meats.
G. P.
Top class takeaway. Home delivery of the beef brisket with sides . All top quality and bursting with flavours.
Very easy reheating instructions. High quality food at very reasonable prices. Would definitely recommend.
P. T.
Amazing BBQ! Has to be the best I've eaten in the UK. I've had Smokestak from Dinerama in Shoreditch before but the restaurant version is so much better. It gets very busy though so make sure to book.
S. P.
I've eaten in-house once and loved it and as we are unsure when we can go again, decided to order the national delivery meal for two (brisket and pulled pork). While not cheap, it was worth it. We had enough for two meals for two of us and the brisket was just as succulent and smoky as it was in the restaurant. Recommend during lockdown when you need a change from pizza or curry delivery.
M. G.
Excellent American barbecue, the highlights being the beef ribs and the brisket.
S. R.
I took my boyfriend here for his birthday lunch and everything was absolutely stunning! The service was fantastic and the food was unreal!! We had sardines and crispy ox cheek to start, then beef brisket, ribs, jacket potato and char-grilled greens for our main... Every single part was delicious and I would definitely recommend! We got sticky toffee pudding for dessert which was lovely and after realising it was my boyfriends birthday his came out with a lit candle in it - lovely touch! I'm going to dream about that brisket. We will go back!
J. O.
Winner winner brisket dinner. Add fries and greens, washed down with house lager. Very happy man. Simply delicious food cooked well.
M. S.
Must try if you into smoked beef. Vert soft and tender.
B. W.
Shared many delicious dishes with family and friends. Pastrami was superb
G. L.
Exceptionally tasty menu and fun cocktail selection. Ox cheek with anchovy mayo was unexpected highlight. Also service was terrific- great recommendations, many thanks George!
J. Y.
The best meal i had at London, would come again if I go to London. Super crowded, luckily i made reservation. The brisket is to die for, the porks ribs wit pickle also (this is coming from someone who hate pickles), this dry aged beef ribs a bit more expensive compared the previous two but its all worth it if you compare with other londons food prices.
A. R.
Been there twice in past few months and as usual, food and service were excellent.
K. V.
Best food I have eaten in a long time, still dreaming about the brisket and pastrami!! This place is awesome.
R. J.
Spectacular BBQ. Had a brisket bun and a pork belly rib. Both absolutely divine! As I ate the brisket bun I realised I had had it before as a slider at the Meatopia meat festival a few years back. It was one of the best meat treats I had eaten then, and it remains so now. Thanks guys!
N. F.
As good as the BBQ in Texas! Loved the interior and the Old Fashioned cocktails were amazing.
k. c.
Great experience at smoke stak. Coming from Texas and loving BBQ I wasn’t to sure about eating here. But they did not disappoint. We started off with the ox cheek. It was delicious. We shared the eggplant, pastrami and some fries. Claudia was our waitress. She was awesome. 5 stars from me.
M. G.
This place is phenomenal. All the meats taste amazing - try the brisket in all forms!
G. G.
Great food, fried oxtail cheek was so good! Cocktails were lovely and not too expensive, would recommend the jalapeño tequila cocktail!
Outside dining during covid was good even though it was really busy, but seats are very uncomfortable (wooden stool and benches), could do with some padding!
A. W.
Great find the smells are so good you get dragged off the street already booked to go back great staff the food is so so good the big ovens are always on the go great selection on the menu plus ice cold beer and East end vibe 10 out of 10 .👏
J. S.
Delicious BBQ conveniently located by Shoreditch High St. Loads of outdoor seating (best to book ahead especially on weekends). A starter, main and side would are enough to make you full and happy
A. “. A.
Great location, nice dark atmosphere, and great food. Liked the pulled pork bun, brisket, aubergine, LOVED the broccoli. Minus one star for dishonesty with a hidden 13% fee though.
B.
Good place for a quick beer and some meat.
L. S.
Booked a table here for the Eat Out to Help Out offer - the food was fantastic. The beef brisket was the clear favourite!
S. D.
Good place, but dodgy service! Service staff were rude on more than one occasion.
N. Z.
Not sure if I've done a review of this before. But this venue for gout-inducing meatiness is always a winner...
Beef brisket, roast pork and balanced off with the roasted greens.
Consistently good and great at atmosphere!
R. P.
Loved the food, bill was incorrect though (missing item) but very friendly staff who looked well after our little group.
B. G.
Tooooo smoky, and the music was a bit loud but I'm a lil uncool.
Food was top notch BBQ food equal with jimbos from 45.
Had the brisket but forgot to say without bun, but truthfully I thoroughly enjoyed.
Wings banged big time I just felt like a troll eating them.

Heaven for meat lover. Vegetarian options available too
B. M.
Very nice place . Amazing food .
S. P.
This was the best food I've eaten in a LONG time. The lamb rib was so good I actually cried. 11/10 on flavour, presentation, service, atmosphere, decor etc! There wasn't a single thing that wasn't delicious, even the garnish was worth eating 😍
K. S.
The food and service was really nice. The interior looked great too but the portions are really small for quite a big price. In the end, the price/quality ratio doesn't really add up. Still glad I tried it though.
f. p.
For the carnivores out there this place is your Mecca. My brother loves this place and we took him for his birthday this year. The staff was so amazing and the vibe was great. I could not have asked for better service or food.
Thanks Smokestak for doing you and being amazing!
A. N.
I’ve had the brisket at a pop up and it was memorable. The restaurant itself did not disappoint - had the 4 courses for £15 deal and it was amazing, left stuffed. Crispy pigtails, pulled pork bun, fries, Mac n cheese (extra) and sorbet - all incredible.
S.
5+ for the food...Great location..I ABSOLUTELY LOVE IT
J. B.
Been here loads of times. Definitely the best meat in Shoreditch.
E. W.
Tasty food. Nice team. Nice vibe. All round great place to go for a meal
M. B.
Miriam was Amazing! She took us on a journey of food that put us in a coma :) Starting with the small bites.. Brisket on bun full Flavor, Sausage had an interesting taste but Great, don't be scared to to dip in the applesauce. Cevechi comes alone ask for flat bread with it. Porkbelly is phenomenal! The Pastrami was like nothing we have ever tried, so tender and full of flavor. And the Potato was an explosion of flavor.
And for desert... there are 2 choices... DON'T DECIDE.... GET BOTH... you will not be disappointed.
Z. F.
Amazing food (if you're not a vegetarian at least). We got many small plates to share like this one.
A. a. R. S.
The food here was absolutely amazing. Met all our expectations and the staff were lovely. Really attentive and good chat. The aubergine was unbelievable. Social distancing wasn't done very well but then I guess its hard for businesses trying to stay afloat.
J. C.
Perfect place for meat lovers! The beef brisket is cooked to perfection and the pastrami with pickled cucumbers is just something from another world 😋 I also recommend going for the coal roasted aubergine with cashew nuts, which is incredibly tasty. They also have a good selection of cocktails and drinks. If you are around, it’s definitely worth a visit.
K. S.
Really great restaurant. The menu is, of course, meat heavy however there are lots of great veggie options. The jacket potato is unreal. Seriously, order it. I will definitely be back! Want to work my way through the menu.
P. M.
Super cool place! Great atmosphere and food! We found the place by chance, but we immediately fell in love with it
D. H.
If you love meet, go there! Ribs, brisket, pastrami, excellent side dishes!
C. B.
Come a long way from serving the most mouth watering brisket buns to this incredible restaurant. The ribs and brisket as you’d expect are great but somehow the smoked aubergine still managed to be one of the best dishes. Nuggets were also awesome.
Yes, as other reviewers have mentioned, it’s not the most affordable place but it’s in line with other restaurants of the Cali we in the area.
R.
Ordered a dine at home box. Great selection, arrived chilled and vacuum packed as described, with instructions and everything I needed included. The end result: a smokey, sumptuous, spicy, entertaining and amazing meal! All for a sensible price too 👍
A. K.
The pork ribs and grilled aubergine were absolutely heavenly! A great find in the middle of shoreditch. Some of the best ribs I’ve had in London. Soft, fatty and tasty! The service was great, seating outside and reasonably priced for what you get. Definitely going to return!
M. F.
Very nice meat. Plates are a bit small but food is good.
B.
Excellent! The food is fantastic, we took the large brisquet and it just meted in the mouth, it was incredibly tasty. The sides qren'r qll equal, I'd advice to take the baked potato as it was the best of all. Beers and Old fashion were nice but some other cocktails weren't worth it. The service was pleasent, with attentive staff. I made a reservation for 6, ended up with 9 and yet staff made the necessary arrangements. Overal, a great place for BBQ and bring friends to share the brisquet because it's a must have.
l.
Relax but busy BBQ place with amazing ribs and jacket potatoes. Their seabream is like a Ceviche so try it! Crispy ox cheeks were delicious as well as the aubergine. Good groups as well as for couples. Service is fast but only when your order comes, waiters seem more interested to chat between them. Other than that is a good.
N. L. C.
Great food, super tasty. The pulled pork is unreal!
F. S.
This is a great place. Excellent food and service to boot. We had pigtails, crispy ox cheeks, fenel sausage, brisket bun, ribs and slaw. All great and more than enough for 2 people. They now serve beer on drought in pint size rather than 3/4 pint which was my pet hate before. Highly recommended
V. F.
The restaurant is quite quirky in that you walk in through these big steel doors as if walking into a factory. Inside you get more of this rustic factory vibe. The staff greeted myself and my team of work colleagues quite well. We we sat near the window and asked if we wanted to drink still or sparkling water. Later we all asked for the brisket beef and some asked for the jacket potato, other for slaw and other for other extras because the brisket plate is just the meat only with nothing else. When it arrived I can say that those of us that asked for the jacket potato were really happy as the potato was really tasty and a really good size too. The only complaint the while team had was that there was very little amount of brisket. Only 2 slices of brisket and its £13 which we all expected probably double of the amount of meat for that price. Probably because it's around Shoreditch it's that expensive for so little but we all had the same comment that it should have been more for the price.
Overall I liked it a lot but wish the brisket portion was bigger.
분.
The mood & smoke smells were appropriate. So tasty, and they also have a great house beer! Really really awesome 😭🍺👍
A. G.
We had a fab meal here on my birthday. The Aubergine was amazing!
H. O.
Was not sure what to expect for the food- I'm not a big meat eater but I was blown away by this place. Even the veggie options were incredible. The ambiance is amazing- very industrial and all the details pull together so nicely. The downstairs cocktail bar was great while we waited for our table....we were sat 15 min late but it didn't even matter because we were happy waiting downstairs. The drinks were awesome and nicely presented.
The food came out very fast- was well prepared- had a nice presentation and was more filling than it looked! We loved the ox Cheek dish was one of our favorites.
Only down side we felt was that we felt a bit rushed through dinner. We knew they had to turn the table over at 9:45 but because they sat us 15 minutes late we felt like that was a little annoying.
All in All- I will definitely recommend to others and be returning soon!!
L. H.
Going back for a second time this evening. Great BBQ restaurant. Love the small plate concept so that you can share and try lots of dishes around the table. Tables for two can be a little on the small side though if you're ordering lots of dishes. Cocktail list has my favourite on too, try the Penicillin!
O. S.
Pastrami, brisket, goats cheese... I mean wow the food here is the best American BBQ food outside of America... Facts
M. R.
Amazing food and service
M. o.
Super yummy I asked them to make me a custom drink and they obliged. I turned up without a booking but I advise you book. I think the menu changes though I liked the brisket xD
N. H.
Food of a high quality. Service smooth. Cocktails strong and smokey. Would highly recommend.
O.
Good food. Great place lacking authenticity.

Of you Love Smokers... Visit Smokestak. Brilliant!!!
s. r.
Amazing! - Restaurant DIY Meal Kit - I ordered one of the Valentines meal kits and I have to say it was out of this world! Smoked beef brisket and pulled pork taken to a new level and such a treat compared to the lock-down norm! I was lucky to get in early as they sold out and SS delivered all the way to Surrey so we were able to enjoy the delights of Shoreditch remotely! Prosecco, starters and the delicious sticky toffee pudding just added to the epic meal! We shall be returning soon! Thank you SMOKESTAK!
P. G.
They have a great location, I love the factory/raw inside. The service is OK, it is really expensive (£5.5 for a small bottle of kernel beer and 4.5 for a small tapas portion of pepper tempura). The meat looks amazing though. And down point you HAVE to take something to eat with your drinks and you HAVE to give away a credit card to open a tab... Strange practice...
D. H.
Great selection, portions a little small, had to move out of our seats to allow them to access the oven (we had a large group of people)
B. C.
Where to even start, it is all so good.
The atmosphere is buzzy, the staff know their stuff and are incredibly passionate about what they are serving.
The Rhubarb Sour is the only thing I ever want to drink. What a drink it is and that’s before we touch on the food.
Those brisket buns, the crispy oxtail with anchovy Mayo, the jacket potato... oh my! The crudo blew me away and at a bbq resto I really wasn’t expecting it.
They have absolutely nailed everything both in the restaurant and the home kits too.
Order, we absolutely must keep Smokestak alive!!!!!!
S. C.
Melt in the mouth pork belly. Other dishes' flavours were intense. Couldn't choose which dish I liked the most. My partner and I definitely fought over the bone marrow flat breads.
S. K.
As far as well cooked meat goes, this is as good as it gets. Everything was absolutely delicious - we particularly loved the ox cheek croquettes 👌service was also great, will definitely be going back
M. J.
Great food but staff are a little inattentive and the tables are a bit cramped
D. E.
We were in London in May from the US and I had found this place prior to our trip so we decided to check it out. I don't usually enjoy brisket, but this stuff was the best!!!! If you're around this area you need to check it out.
K. K.
Great place for smoked meat like ribs and brisket. Appetisers wasn't very impressive, I would skip them next time and go straight for the mains. I loved the environment and the different smells coming from the kitchen.
The sound volume in the restaurant was great, you could actually have a conversation with your date. With that said, good place to bring a date, not very expensive, make sure to book a table via Opentable. I recommend the brisket and the pork ribs.
P. Y. L.
Its a bit expensive but the food quality makes it worth it. Its a bit hard to find the entrance but i would highly recommend them.
S.
Great Place for good grilled Meat. Even Vegetables are grilled and mixed with special spices! Ambient is also very special, combination with wood and concrete. Stuff is very kind and they helps you withe the menue!
T. B.
OMFG levels of goodness. Don’t skip the greens. Or dessert.
R. S.
Great vibe for friends getting together, high ceiling, dim lit lighting and
a cozy dining atmosphere.
Pigtails: 10/10 for creative ingredient and cooking method. Crunchy to the bones.
Ox Cheeks: 6/10 taste somewhat too salty and the sauce doubled the intensity instead of balancing.
Brisket bun: 9/10 Comforting and balancing flavours.
Salt baked beetroot, goat cheese, hazelnuts: 8/10 with the nuts as the star of the dish
Beef brisket, mustard barbecue: 8/10 better served in the Brisket buns
Thick-cut pork ribs, pickled cucumber: 8/10 Harmonised but will be perfect if the meat fell off the bone effortlessly...
Jacket potato, smoked rarebit: 9/10 lovely cheese, crunchy potato skin and outer layer, soft and creamy at the centre.
Sticky toffee pudding, clotted ice cream: 10/10 same awesomeness as in Hawksmoor but the clotted cream ice cream won it here.
My come-back order will be Pigtails, Brisket bun x2, Beef ribs, Jacket potato and Sticky toffee pudding

Fantastic beef brisket bun, aubergine, pig cheek. Hip industrial vibe. Indoor and outdoor seating.

Really nice barbecue food, throughly enjoyed tasting the different dishes that we tried. Thank you!

The food was ok. The place is fun for drinking.

Absolutely beautiful. We are all about the meat but but slaw is amazing!
C. W.
The meat is incredible but don't ignore the non-meat - it's also great.

Really great restaurant. The menu is, of course, meat heavy however there are lots of great veggie options. The jacket potato is unreal. Seriously, order it. I will definitely be back! Want to work my way through the menu.

Was not sure what to expect for the food- I'm not a big meat eater but I was blown away by this place. Even the veggie options were incredible. The ambiance is amazing- very industrial and all the details pull together so nicely. The …

Ditch your fear of cholesterol and healthy eating habits because it's more than worth it! Vegetarians, you must have the aubergine. Trust me. It's so good!!
F. F.
Cocktails were good, sides were awesome especially the Brocoli. Merguez isn't the best I've had but the pork belly rib was super tender and well flavoured.

Very nice place . Amazing food .

Very good! Friendly service as well!

What. A. Meaty. Delight!! Cannot wait to return, every bite of food was INCREDIBLE! I wouldn't recommend to my vegan pals...

One of my favourite places in London! The vibe is great, vintage and chilled, the staff is amazing, always helpful and assisting. The food is sooo delicious, surprisingly enough for both meat lovers and vegetarians! Highly recommended, it's a place you always want to come back to

Sublime food! Meat is literally melting in your mouth. So delicious! Friendly service is a bonus.
E. B.
Finally a culinary experience in the area. Portions are small though (wrt £££) and not many beers on the menu.
H. P.
Delicious beef brisket and great interior and atmosphere. Would come back.

Pretty much as you would expect with a place called Smokestack. Excellent smoked meats and other smokable items. Delicious ox cheek croquetta style cubes with anchovy mayo. The belly rib was to perfection. Could have done with a cold non alcohol beer as was not drinking but none available... but that didn't stop me walking away feeling very satisfied indeed.
M. K.
Definitely the best smoked meat that I ever tasted.. staff was very helpful and cheerful.. every single thing on the menu that we ordered was super delicious and the prices are beyond acceptable. Earned a place on my personal best restaurant list 😉
J. C.
Brisket, ribs etc. All good as long as you live meat. Vegetarians might be a bit disappointed but you shouldn't be visiting a place like this anyway.

We had a wonderful experience at this restaurant! Our waitress Louise was friendly and informative about the food ( we did ask a lot of questions!) The food was delicious and well presented.
We met the head chef and GM who were very happy to talk to us. Highly recommend

We ordered the whole menu. Superb food that was reasonably priced, tender, juicy and certainly had that smoked flavour. Complements to the Chefs.

Always a go to for a meaty dinner. As part of the eat out to help out scheme we had the 4 for 10£ including Crispy pig tails, corn salsa for starters, slow brisket beef and pulled pork buns with fries, and finished with the malt soft serve ice cream. 💯
e. a.
It used to be better. But still a good place to go if you are looking for some big meaty place
R. H.
Lip smacking, sexy, smokey meat-bliss! Oh boy. And the peach feta salad was rocking too. Add in great service, filthy puds and a few cocktails and Smokestak was ticking every box. Thanks to the team for a great meal.

This place is insane. Really amazing. Free ice cream for my nephew while we waited for takeaway then two largers on the house as I had traveled 2 hours to get there. Not to mention the food which was to die for. Brisket nun, ox cheek and fries I can truly say this is a hidden gem located perfectly. Will be back for sure and a dine in experience. Beer was also great. Great work team SmokeStak

Best beef brisket in the world. Make sure you come hungry—that part is important. Will change your life.

Excellent food, excellent service!
The 'Terrace' where we were seated to eat was definitely not what we were expecting, a level of ingenuity.

Great food but why was the waitress so rude to us?
The food was super tasty (do not go here if you're on a diet though) and honestly, the beef brisket bun was lush.
The atmosphere and music was pretty cool too, as well as the service from one of the servers. We didn't get his name but he was attentive and polite and friendly. He kinda looked like Kofi Siriboe, maybe?
I have to detract a couple stars for the appalling treatment from one of the other servers. Again, didn't catch her name but she was quite slim, wearing a black hat, had dark hair, a septum ring and hooped earrings, so a fairly distinct look (hoping management reads this and takes this seriously!):
1) She gave us a dirty look and literally rolled her eyes when we asked for tap water (we ordered alcohol afterwards but simply needed more time when she'd asked).
2) She'd half-slam the food down on the table instead of just placing them down like her colleagues did. And never say a word either.
3) She reached over to pick up my finished plate, dropped it and then held her hand out expectantly and gave me an impatient dirty look as if to demand that I give it her - I absolutely would have, and so I did, but why did she have to be SO RUDE about it?
4) We asked if we could take some food away. She didn't acknowledge our request and simply walked off without a word. We were left looking at each other like, 'Did we say something wrong?'. She did eventually come back with a box but it was just weird and cold behaviour. Why wouldn't she just communicate with us properly?
5) At the end she came with a card machine so that we could pay. The reader didn't work. She walked off and said she'd bring the other. We waited a while and then saw her serving other tables instead of coming back with the reader. It was fairly busy so I suppose it's not that bad but after the evening we had with her, it was, again, just a cold and rude and actually quite disrespectful service. I lost count of how many times we thanked her when she came with food or took plates away, but were still treated poorly.
In summary, great food but service was so bad from one the waitresses that it tainted what would have been a really great experience.

Amazing meats, good service but terrible cocktails. 5 stars because the meal made up for the cocktails. Get a bottle of wine or a beer instead.

This is a great place if you love BBQ & Smoked food, the ox cheeks and pork rib were fantastic.

Amazing restaurant for every meat lover. Great atmosphere
C. M.
Wow, really impressed with this place. Lovely big space but with lots of different areas set around a massive bar/kitchen. Food was fantastic with plenty of vegetarian options that were often as good as, if not better than, the meat options. Lovely meal there and will be back as soon as I am in the area.
M. W.
Fabulous barbeque menu. Must tries include crispy ox cheek, brisket bun and beef rib. Want meat? Go here.
S. R.
Amazing...the staff were friendly and knowledgeable. We went with friends and had a incredible night... everything on the menu looked and tasted amazing. This place really lives up to its reputation.

The nicest BBQ I've ever had in London. Fun menu, incredible flavours, great atmosphere

beautiful, calm , essential atmosphere for fine dining experience.

Pretty good meaty meal, ox cheeks were 👌🏻

I love this restaurant! They provide great meals, their menu is decent, The cook in that spot is very experienced, I like very much eating all their food. The food is consistently of high class, the attitude towards the customers is very good too. I frequently visit this restaurant and I was never unhappy. Highly recommended.

The food was really very good, as were the cocktails. My complaint is that for the price you pay, they squeeze you in like sardines, which is just not cool when you’re already in a ‘shabby chic’ environment. I felt like I was sitting on the girl next to me’s lap! And because of that and the really rustic decor, everything echos and you can’t have a decent conversation because everyone is fighting to hear one another. It’s a shame because it really overshadowed the food.
H. R.
The best brisket I ever had! The food here is outstanding. Well worth the trip and we'll worth the money.

Came to Smokestak for a 4th of July celebration and we loved the bbq! Recommend getting the crispy ox tail to start, the pork rib, the beef brisket, and the beef rib. The sticky toffee pudding was fantastic as well.
Has great outdoor seating that isn’t too loud and very friendly service. Didn’t wait too long for the food either. Would 100% come again!
R. M.
Incredible! Magic place, fantastic food, great organisation and friendly staff.

One of the best meals in long time

Great food, cool setting and good service!

Love the menu and the staff are amazing, best part is watching the chefs prepare and cook your food! Been coking back for years now
C. B.
Didn't expect much from the outside but the meat here is tremendous! Already planning my next visit here with a larger crowd.
E. P.
Tables a bit too close together but food and service great as always.

We had a great night in here,
Lovely bbqs and super kind hosts!

Amazing brisket bun , if the portion was larger it would have earned 5 * for sure .
Amazing salted Carmel ice cream as well
Fast and friendly service

The best thing on the menu along with the mushrooms on toast 🤤
H. D.
In general it's a great place with a nice vibe and a very nice smokey bbq.. Food was just amazing, incredibly tasty and we have eaten so much and all was delicious. We will definitely visit again. It is not very cheap though but in still a very nice experience and I would recommend this place.
B. T.
Fantastic restaurant with great outside seating, particularly in this weird time. Service probably the best part of the whole meal. The value of taking a drink order before you’ve done anything else cannot be overstated.
A. B.
The pastrami was out of this world! Juicy, full of flavor, and great on its own (no sauces/condiments are needed imo). However, the brisket was little bit disappointing as it was not very tender and has little smoked flavor. All in all, it was a good experience; nice rustic decor, friendly/attentive staff and good food. The price might be on the high-side albeit understandable given the niche and the operation overhead of BBQ/smoking.
S. J.
We lurrrrve Smokestak. The food is delicious and Ben and the team there are always so friendly. Don't forget the cocktails or dessert (all yummy - if the picante or sticky toffee pudding tempt you, I wouldn't resist!)
S. I.
Nice atmosphere and very amiable service. The food was fresh and enchanting. Will definitely recommend this spot to friends and family. Reasonable rates and large meals. Good job.
T. B.
The best restaurant in London. Brisket buns are next level!
I. P.
Excellent smoke house. The meats are great with a focus on quality rather than quantity but still a fair portion size.
And the vedgies to go on the side are actually really interesting and tasty rather than a tick box.
(Been a few times now and most recently we pre-ordered the full Brisket. Was everything we had hoped for with enough to eat for 12 including a selection of sides)
