Reviews of Spice Hut Stepney
F. A.
I have been coming here for a very long time and the taste is the same. Love their spicy sauce and hot wings. I would also recommend their doner which fresh and one of the best in the market.
M. S.
Your typical chicken shop. Wide range of food to pick. Delicious. However i felt like the sauces were out of date due to the smell and taste.
A. M.
Biryani is decent for a fiver
A. A.
the keema biryani and chicken wings is my go-to. not tried anything else but those two things
M. H.
The meat quality is poor. The seasoning and spice used to prepare the wings is good. This is nothing special to any cheap greasy chicken shop. Their chilli sauce is very good. Hygiene is below average.
Z.
For spicy food lovers, spice hut is definitely one to recommend. Incredible Doner Kebab and Wing meal combos with a great spice range. I usually get the Shatkora flavored Doner Kebab, amazing in flavour. It’s usually always busy so there is a little waiting time, but the food is always worth the wait.
M. E. H.
All of food are delicious! excellent choice fast food including the best Shatkora flavored Doner Kebab and tikka biryanis. Service at this restaurant is not consistent busy time they didn’t look after their customers, overall food quality is decent for the price
S. U.
inconsistent with portions and chilli, ordered once via uber eats, after calling and telling them not to forget about sauce, that's exactly what they did
Z.
Tried the naga wings, wing size is great but not spicy enough and too much red food colouring in naga sauce (stained my fingers grrr)
A. U.
Used to be one of the best place for donner and wings. Food quality and service not up to standard nowadays.
A. S.
The best Naga Donner in town. This place is not the best to dine in or is it the most comfortable however, the taste of the naga donner is something else full of flavour and arrogantly rich in colour and texture. Ordered a portion of naga wings which turned out to be even better than the Donner in it's own unique way. Highly recommended if alone or friends but but comfortable if with families. Thanks.
A. A.
the keema biryani and chicken wings is my go-to. not tried anything else but those two things

Biryani is decent for a fiver

You can never go wrong with a Spice hut. They have it all. Fried chicken, burgers, biryanis and curry's. Service is always good. The staff work extremely hard. I've always found staff to go that extra bit for customers.
A.
Definitely give the chilli sauce a try( it's the one on the tables) you won't regret it. Cheap and cheerful, I love this place!
I. B.
Really lovely staff but the amount of times they get the food wrong is a bit silly. Good food however.
H. B.
Spice Hut, London.
Delicious Hot & Spicy chicken wings, Perfect with Mayo & Chilli Sauce.
Service 7/10, Staff 6/10, Ambiance 5/10, Food 9/10
They serve a large range of Traditional Bangali dishes aswell.
A. R.
Overcooked- fries looked like they been fried twice wings definitely were. I have tried other locations many times but there's something different about this place.
R.
Giving it a three star because this is a Tower Hamlets institution. I remember coming here 15 years ago at secondary school and thinking the food was on another level. I had friends come from outside London just to eat here, way too many memories. But, prices of meals have gone up like mad, inflation right in front of my eyes. Meal C used to be £3.50! The service now is also really poor, the dhakai brothers behind the counter now just don't seek to care. Took them 20 minutes to make a wings meal and the shop wasn't even busy. Disappointed its not what it used to be anymore. They have a branch in Poplar that is 10x better so I recommend that one. But if you want the ORIGINAL spice hut, this is the one.
N. W.
I done home delivery for I and friends only I didn't order what they sent but its was very nice food. Restaurant quality. We England persons dose no what a doner roll is.
H. Y. A.
Food has always been great there but cos they are so busy they don't really care about the quality of food that comes out. One of the best things was the fries but mostly now you get is dry and over cooked fries.
B. A.
Food was lovely! Order was accurate and prepared very promptly. Despite being as busy as they were. 10/10!
T. Z.
Food is very nice, I'd recommend any if the food as all of them are very nice
L. A.
I love almost everything in this shop. For years I have eaten doner kebab meals, mixed grill (nan, chicken tikka, sheekh kebab) and fried chicken which are delicious.
BUT
Yesterday I tried the chicken Masalla and grilled chicken meal for my wife. Yummy.
This is the hidden gem... Chicken Masala will now be my regular dish to order...so good and better then most of the Indian restaurants in the region.
D. A.
Has lost a lot of quality in the food they serve compared to before. This is probably due to branching out and loosing original staff due to other branches. Not the same as before.
N. C.
been going here since 2005 when they first opened. Usually get the meat 🍖 kebabs or biriyanis. Happy now that they have 11 or so branches
--
Update 2021
TBH, I well & truly miss the old Spice Hut, the 2005 onward times. It was in the last decade or so, standards have dropped. Spoke to main management about this, he explained because they franchised and to maintain high standards were difficult. And with a quick turn-around of new staff and so on, it's become a loveless fast food business venture, where its more about the profit margins than anything else.
As much as I'm happy with the owners in terms of what they've achieved by elevating the standards so high for East London PFC and succeeded in many ways over the years to a point where they now have 20+ premises all over East London, Birmingham & Newcastle & Sunderland, I feel maybe this business has become too much of a victim of it's own success, and everyone wants a piece of the pie 🥧 It's become so diluted, the original Spice Hut is no longer the best in the local vicinity, especially with ambitious rivals come along, ie KHF with fresh fried chicken or Al-Safa on Burdett Road which is very reminiscent of the old Spice Hut.
M. M.
Just your bog standard Donner shop, no frills, no heating, sticky tables and hot chilli sauce what more could you want hey?
K. K.
Great testy food. Highly recommended.
F. C.
Don’t worry about the reviews, ask for the Shatkora kebab. Thank me later
Y. Y. “.
It was ok. MILE End Branch. Staff wearing gloves but not all. So close to each other too. Not much sensitisation happening in the store when customers leave and enter. It's not limited how many people enter.
They have also put prices up on their offers and services for order. It also closes pretty late as 2:30am or 2am.
I purchased £5 meal. But you would expect a drink with this as it was before not anymore.
R. G.
A group of us visited Spice Hut the first evening we spent in Moose Jaw. We were greeted by a very friendly hostess and once we were seated our server took the time to explain what level of hot food we should order based on our previous exposure to Indian food. I ordered my food medium hot and was not disappointed; the food was delicious but not as hot as I had anticipated. Every staff member was friendly and helpful. I would go back!
A. L.
Nice doner there. nice staff, very busy place
A. H. (. H.
I’ve been a long-standing customer with Spice Hut, absolutely love the food. Of course, the restaurants could be slightly cleaner but 100% on the food.
m. h.
Nice chicken and wings. Try to get the meal deals
P. F.
Service was good, place looked fairly clean taking into account its a fast food shop. Reason for a low rating is because my chips were very hard and one actually pierced my gum. This has happened four times in the space of 5months so they need to pay more attention to the quality of the food they serve.
D. r. s. L.
The wait was long but worth the while as they cook everything fresh and it tastes delicious. Will pop down again on our next trip to london. Parking can be difficult so ideal to walk their
A. S.
Good food but quality has dipped over the years
A. K.
All the staff are really friendly here. Unfortunately they do not accept card payments strictly cash only. The wings taste good but the kebab is not that nice I am afraid. There biryani is nice.
One of the downside to this place is that it's similar to what you would expect in terms of service from Bengali's which is slow service.
T. A.
Service 2/5 – fast food and defiantly fast service, don’t make mistake ordering or they will get frustrated and give you spicy attitude. I can give them free customer service training if they want?
Food and Price 5/5 – they have the best doner kebab, my favourite is the chicken doner, the spice and the sauce makes it the best kebab in East London, completely different from any other kebab. The value for meals and the price is top notch, I don’t think you will get anywhere else what you get in here.
M. A. N.
It's has a very nice environment with nice staff behind the counter. I've never had better chips, chicken and kebab no
where else and I live in North London. I havent been there in a long time because it is far and expensive, however it's still one of the best places to get a really nice meal.
L. O.
There is only a handful of restaurants or fast food place I visit, spice hut and their branches are truly a great place for a grub, staff are very friendly and cook to your customisation..Great meal last night, loved it. This is particularly for the romford road branch ( which is not listed above) but applies to this one.. Nice and spicy on a diffrent scale. Mainly suitable to go with friends.
K. T. ,.
If it wasn't for the chilli/hot sauce this place would of been closed down time ago, don't expect five star service for a £3 meal.
s. h.
Still pretty decent. Haven't been in a year or so some of the competition is a little better. Spice hut is still well known for it's great tasting food. Biryanis and grilled.
Y. K.
They used to be the standard that all chicken shops would aspire to reach. However with so many opening up in recent years competition has been high with standards also being raised as to who does the best in house chilli sauce. This was a place I used to visit during my uni days and it served me well. It still is really good and quality of the food is wicked. Still by far one of the best but not my number one now thats all!
T.
food is good fresh and hot if you eat in...if you order take away on uber eats you will be disappointed...chips turn hard and chicken goes dry and condensed cos of the steam it all had while being delivered.
S. M.
I love spice hut, just a bit annoying when its busy and the orders are not always correct. However their food is amazing!!!
J. C.
Food was spicy. Really enjoyed my meal there. I have zero complaints and prices were reasonable.
M. K.
Very nice food, quick easy and cheap
S. R.
My favourite place to eat in east London . Very tasty , good quality, friendly service and good value for money . People who can complain excessively about this place have mental issues. I recommend anti depressants for them .They also mentioned they ate from this place many time if this place was so bad why would u come back? . If this place had " bad hygiene" people would of complained and it would be shut down. I ate from there many times and had no problems. Thinking about it am craving for there chicken Kabab right now lol.
M.
okay, the doner kebab and burgers are like really nice BUT some of the times the beef patties are slightly burnt or burnt, most of the times the chickens have these little tiny fur and the chilli sauce sometimes smell…
m. a.
Fantastic great for a fast food place. They are busy most of the time, so that tells you the food is good. I love the kebab there and the way the make it. Almost all of the food they make there are very tasty.
a. k.
Oh my god my fav chicken and chips shop in whole world. Flavour is soooo good!!! Only problem is their portions aren't as large as other shops and they have raised their prices which is annoying so I gotta remove 2 stars
E. R.
One of the only places in East London where you can get your money's worth. Extremely tasty wings for very cheap. Also provide very spicy food if you dare to try. Would definitely reccomend this place.👍
N. :.
Always has amazing quality and delicious food!
S. H. (.
Decent food but not as good as they used to be. Chips were over fried, wings were a bit bland but the doner was really nice. Filling portions as well so alright price-wise
A. M.
Spice Hut is always a usual place to go and everytime I go there, it's always good. The kebab is cooked to perfection, the chips are nice and their red sauce (sweet sauce) is just on point.
A. H.
Can't go wrong. Love this place since uni. Different staff and different prices but still the same quality chicken doner!
M. C.
My local grease Place... Very hit and miss... Decent food most of the time but it has its moments of letting u down with poor tasting food sometimes... Its cheap and cheerful I suppose
S. R. G.
Didn't eat from this place for 2 years, but after 2 years, the spicy chicken doner with chips and lots of chilli sauce was delicious. Downside is that I hate eating in a crowd of low class illiterate Bengalis & Bengali ghetto/hoodlums around which makes me feel very uncomfortable and cannot enjoy my meal properly. Some are thieves and trouble makers, always keep an eye on what they are up to.
M. A.
I ordered Biryani (average) & some wings (had feathers). If I were to rate the wings alone I would have gone for 2 starts but the biryani pulled the score up. I usually get Biryani from Spice Hut commercial road, it's really good but I was disappointed with Mile End.
P. R.
Would be 5 star but the foods just too spicy 😂😂 a great bunch of lads will defo be visiting again but this time will be getting mild
J. H.
Great Food for eat in or takeaway, donner meat is exceptional, great burgers and side orders e.g chicken wings, chips. Good selection of drinks. Overall great place for a quick bite to eat or a proper meal
A.
Food tastes amazing, the spices are just right! Love the food here!!
N. B.
Awesome tasting food, I don’t live in london but I always pop down there for some good fried food! You will enjoy it
h. g.
The lamb donner and chips are the best in London. The hot sauce is so tasty, and the way they marinate the kebab and cook it on the grill is amazing.
M. R. A.
Great Food for eat in or takeaway, donner meat is exceptional, great burgers and side orders e.g chicken wings, chips. Good selection of drinks. Overall great place for a quick bite to eat or a proper meal
A. R.
This is a place that I have a mixed feeling about. They have their good days, but then they have their bad days. Sometimes their food is bangin and satisfies me and sometimes they just piss me off. Like once the boss man forgot to give chips in two of my donor meals!!! I was mad fuming and had to drive back all the way to mile end. I asked the breh to give me a new donor and he just re-cooked my original donor meal the stush punk. Also, theres too many roadmans with their bushra's eating in here, got man feeling bare uncomfortable. At least take her to nandoes bruv
M. A.
Their wings taste different to how they used to. And their wings are why Spice Hut was 1 of the best PFC's in Ldn.
Chilli sauce is still banging, the same as it always was.
Z.
Delicious food, second to none. Only downside is the nonexistent customer service; have to wait for ages to be served, very little communication and not exactly the most ambient of places to eat. Grab the food to take home, you'll love it!
H. H.
Succulent spicy wings with naga sauce and the best chicken biryani in town. Worth the visit every time am down south
J. T.
Good food but make sure you tell the guy what you want properly because sometime they mess up and add up your total before hamd other than that everything id nice and food always been with quality.
I.
Very very good food for the prices and staff are decent. Only annoying thing is the seating and everyone coming to ur table to get sauces when it gets busy and some times tables are left dirty when they are busy.
A. H.
Came far to visit this place the food is very tasty. But they need to start doing card payments. Cheers I let friends and family no thank u to the manager who served me and my brother. !
M. W.
The original spice hut. Open late night. Honest opinion the one on commercial road is better
H. A.
The guy standing in front of me said he drove over an hour to get here - and I have to ask - why? While it does taste better than your local chippy, I wouldn't drive more than 20 minutes to get here. It's also more expensive, which I think is because they want to capitalise on their brand name.
I'd go there if I was in the local area, but nothing more.
g. n.
love a cheeky kebab on a Sunday night
E. K.
Love this place.. I always have to go when i visit east london. Not the healthiest of foods but tastes so good. Love the hot sauce and the red sauce my fave.
G. H.
Best Biryani around!
U. C.
lovely place, food is amazing, not many places like this around London, mainly in east London, but it is well worth the drive from north London. love coming here, cheap as chips and big portions!
A. K.
This is not your average restaurant or donner kebab place however the kebab on mile end road is the best and spice hut is my favorite i know alot of people write about bad service but i think thats the great part gives you the bangladesh street food feeling lol but they very respectful
S. N. H.
It's the best place for spice lovers. Real hot and spicy donner kebab and hot wings plus traditional Bangladeshi hot biriyani. Good and paced environment.
F. M.
Very nice, lovely food and excellent service
B. H.
The food was good, the service not so Great. There was 9 of us and a few people's orders were wrong but they fixed it without any fuss.
T. S.
Tasty chicken with large servings, amazing customer service, affordable prices, however it’s nearly always busy so you might want to get takeaway.
M. U.
Very Tasty Food, the sauce leave a stain on your hand, its a signature mark everyone knows you ate Spice Hut.
Service is however very Poor, I’ve witnessed the person taking orders be very rude to customers and myself just for a little inconvenience like changing a drink or asking for takeaway sauce.
M. E.
Loved the naga wings!
M. S.
Good place to grab quick food if you don't want to wait around. Customer service was great
R. A.
Great taste. Value
m. h.
👍
A. C.
Used to be the best place to get your meat and chips, its not as good as it used be now, still fairly good.
M. Y.
There is something about the spice hut which used to bring me back to it when I was at uni. I hear people still talk about spice hut. But don't eat too much, it's not vey good for you lol.
M. K.
Great doner kebab. Really friendly staff. The shatkora doner and the naga doner is the signature here. That is what makes this place great.
S. B.
Portion was a good size, food was yummy
A. K.
Top food and top prices.!
M. A.
Always can rely on spice hut for a hot hatkora meal E 😏
K. U.
Been a long time since I've eaten here. Nice biriani and dall, although in truth it's fried rice, but very tasty.
M. M.
Cheap and delicious! excellent choice of fast food including the best Shatkora flavored Doner Kebab and some curries and biryanis.
Z. I.
Been going here for nearly 12 years and have had excellent service with all the workers showing me respect and giving me my orders on time
M. K.
Very Annoying that none of there branches has a card machine we are in 2020 and an established business avoiding vat pretty shameful tbh.
M. B.
Love to food, quick and friendly service.
My favourite is the biriani request a tarka dhal sauce for more authentic home taste, highly recommended overall.
s. a.
Not like the good old days
S. S.
Quick and friendly service. Excellent fresh and tasty food.
S. C.
One of the best lamb Biryani I had here. Quantity Is generous. Good value for money.
r. m.
Ok so I haven't been in a long time due to the quality of the food gone down and staff looked like they gave up on life.
L. A.
I regularly go here. Great food. Especially e meal
M. F.
Best quick fried chicken place in tower hamlets. Also this is the only chicken shop I've been to with 'spicy burger sauce', genius!
F. R.
Food is great, however they need to work on their cleaning, their floors are always dirty.
S. I.
Absolutely amazing food and great service as well. I live in east ham and come here every week with my family
O. M.
For the area not bad..
M. A.
Only go here because of the decent food, there is no such thing as customer service so don't expect it if you visit this place
I.
Their naga wings were disappointing. Just spicy and there's not enough flavour
T. M.
Yes yes, wys spice hut! Banging food styll say nothing fam, see you guys again soon blud yeah get me
A. D.
The food is just amazing. I travel from Cambridge just to eat here! Can't get better chicken or Kababs anywhere else
J. P.
Good turkish food when you´re starving. Nice people. Big dishes. Goods prices.
R. A.
Lovely wings and doner, they do need to work on their fries however.
M. A. H.
Their donner meal is very tasty!
J. M.
The best kebab shop in the whole world. I repeat- whole world!. The 2nd branch the same! The best chain in the world.
A. A.
I would recommend this place to anyone the best kebabs ever not gonna lie I try to come here every Saturday and have meal E completely worth it
A. S. A.
This has to be best Spice Hut I've been to. Service is on point and love their Spicy Wings
M. R.

Owner wearing a blue hat is so rude.
Food is always missing
Y. U.
Meal E is the best. Jazzakallah khair
M. R.
This is the best place to eat. Loads of food for your money. Worth the 45 minute drive
J. K.
Kebab is best... Wings are 2* they always taste like hatkora and we never crispy
K. H.
It's good food. Service at times can be garbage, that's both employees and the speed of which food is delivered
L. o.
Their spicy donner meat is the best. Their prices are good but chicken is just ok.
D.
Very decent burgers but please less salt
S. I.
I always go for the naga kabab here and Holy crabs it is peng everytime.
