Reviews of St Moritz Restaurant
N. G.
Was a great lunch out. The staff were amazing and helpful seeing as we were the first through the door. A small but comfy restaurant doesn't feel crowded with a lovely Alpine feel.
The food was lovely. The Pate was quite rich so but still very nice. The prawn cocktail was well made and they weren't stingey with the prawns.
Our main of the vegetable fondue was nice and the vegetables were nicely prepared.
Will be returning to try out the different options on the menu.

Decent enough fondue in a tiny little swiss house in Londons Soho.
Starters are pretty decent with options of charcuterie or traditional raclette with potatoes.
The fondue on offer is good and comes in minimum portions of 2 per pot and is tasty enough. You get a choice of meat in hot oil or the more traditional cheese with bread or potatoes. There's even a Chinese version that's basically a hot pot with beef.
And finally a chocolate fondue with fruits rounds off the dinner.
Service is good though can be rushed due to the high demand.

The restaurant was beautiful and made you feel like you were at the Alps. The cheese fondue was fun and good, but the portions of vegetables were really small.
C. J.
Service and knowledge good. Knew the cheese in the fondue was not vegetarian friendly. Gave their opinion on good selection.
Fondue needed some blue cheese on my opinion but had gruyere and vacherin. I felt the fondue was a little watery. But there was more than enough bread and potatoes for the half and half we ordered.
One grumble was the Bill was hand written and as such was non itemised that took a bit of thinking back and looking back at the menu to work out what was in each item. For example all the mains were lumped together including one side, but one side was separately itemised, desserts were separated as were drinks but all in one line as a category.

I love the atmosphere and service here. It’s very authentic. The at very accommodating as well and always happy to help. The food was delicious. We ordered the sliced beef and the cheese fondue. They were both delicious and came out quickly. I highly recommend this for and authentic fondue.

We came here for fondue and it was ok. The fondue itself was good, however the bread wasn’t (supposed to be baguette but it was the cheap Tesco version), and the potatoes were squishy. The wine we got was good, but overall not great. Service was nice.

Lovely little cosy restaurant in London for Swiss fondue 😁 Great for cheese lovers :)
A. S.
Service was polite, lady was new so kept coming back to ask us what we ordered again but she made up for it in being nice.
Escargots are served without the shell, but still tasted good. Fondue cheese didn't pull/string as we wanted it to but it tasted authentic and great.
Decor and atmosphere is very authentic swiss, we loved it. The waiters uniforms were also classic, and receipts were written out by hand. Its a really nice touch.

Went here for my birthday with some friends. Absolutely loved the food and the staff were very friendly and helpful. If you like fondu and like us you have too many young children to go skiing and get the real experience, then this place will make you feel like you're on the skiing holiday you deserve.

What can I say! Possibly the best fondue restaurant in London! Very generous portions and very tasty.
The staff deserve 5 stars. One of the best services I’ve had. Very attentive and informative. I would defiantly be coming back there for more :)
H. S.
A fun experience - it's worth visiting for the old school alpine decor. A very classic menu - the mushrooms in garlic sauce were absolutely delicious. The fondue itself was reasonable, although expensive. The Swiss House wine was perfectly drinkable. Service was friendly, but they did not seem to like us pouring our own drink or altering the heat on the fondue which was a little inconvenient considering it's quite a casual restaurant. Tiny, so definitely worth booking in advance.
I. J.
When I miss some raclette this is the place to come. Very small so you need to book it. The only minot issue, is that sometimes when you leave it your clothes carry the food restaruants' smell with you... só it can be an extended visit :)
P. H.
A small easy to miss restaurant in the heart of London! Their food is quite the authentic swiss cuisine. Definetly worth the try. Would love to go one more time to try their cheese fondue (of which they have many options and choices). Their chocolate fondue is very generous and come with marshmallow, biscuits and a variety of fruit options.

The food, ambiance, and service were all outstanding. Every dish was hot, tasty, and served on time. The restaurant was extremely busy and popular due to the excellent food and quality experience provided. The lemon cheesecake is to die for; if you have the chance to try it, do so. I will undoubtedly return to St Moritz Restaurant. I hope this was helpful!

Fondue was perfect. Tasty vine, good staff
T. P.
You walk into a time travel experience. The food is solid, dependable. Traditional. The service is functional in the main with the odd glimpse of sweetness and personality. The atmosphere has not changed in 44 years. The decor has not changed in 44 years. The prices definitely have changed in 44 years. Modern palates will find most of the food very over salted, but that is what you expect from this type of cuisine. The fondues are very understated to look at but taste perfect. Don't expect fancy frilly presentation or servings. But go with a hearty plain appetite and you won't be disappointed.

Oh my god, just go! It's amazing! #Cheese

St Moritz is small restaurant where you can actually not only enjoy the pride of Switzerland. But all kind of fondues (Bourguignone which is essentially meat coocking in Oil, Chinese which is essentially also meat but cooking in a bouillon, Cheese fondue and Chocolate fondue). The food is overall good but not excellent. Which makes the please too expensive for what you get in my opinion. Of you get a cheese fondue the mix one is probably the most popular amongst cheese lovers but make sure you are digging until it is dry and allow yourself to get the dry part of the cheese stuck at the bottom. Yes it is politically correct and yes the waiter should be helping you if you do not know how. Nothing should be wasted and the experience is total.
C. F.
FANTASTIC!! would come here everyday if I could. Portions are excellent, prices are good, and the drinks are fairly priced as well! Vegetarian options also available!
J. W.
Loved it, ambience and food was great and our waitress was lovely. Highly recomended
K. D. P.
Excellent fondue, and a very friendly and informative waitress. There escargot and froglegs as starters were excellent as well.
D. K.
A quaint and cozy restaurant, that has one of the best cheese fondues I have ever tasted. However, the customer service was perfunctory. Not so welcoming.
D. B.
Delicious! Tiny restaurant, so I recommend you make a reservation. The service is fabulous.
G. Y.
Frog legs are good, onion soup is tasty, raclette is good, veal sausage is delicious. But veal schnitzel and pork in apple sauce (too sweet!) were ... edible. (and we didn't have fondue)
T.
The venue has a nice, traditional 80s ski restaurant vibe. The main event of course, fondue, was good (we had the gruyere & vacherin) but the accompaniments left a lot to be desired. The bread was pretty stale and the vegetables felt like they were from a frozen mixed bag. A better variety or better quality ingredients for dipping would have been appreciated. The wine is terrible so would not recommend and the desserts felt quite basic, a bit of whipped cream & slightly bruised strawberries for my souffle grand mernier.
Fondue itself good but I'll definitely explore other options in London before visiting again.
c. b.
This was a really lovely restaurant. The staff were great, the fondue superb and the prices very good indeed. Thank you.
E. P. P.
We have been here 3 times now. The last one celebrating our wedding anniversary. Excellent cheese fondue, authentic flavor. We get the moitié moitié just like we used to when we lived in Geneva.
R. R.
Interesting little Swiss restaurant, great food,I actually met the owner while I was there and he was lovely, defo worth going ,was not disappointed
S. G.
The ambience in this place was to die for with super cute swiss vibes. Heavenly melted cheese paired with white wine, charcuterie, garlic mushrooms and escargot to round things off - 4/5 rating a must visit for every Londoner and a great way to kick of the inaugural supper club! THANK GOD for restaurants like this! I cannot express enough how superb the food is here and that's without descriding the ambience and the amazing customer care and waitress service. Paula looked after us from the moment we walked in and made us feel entirely at home. The food is seriously fantastic and already plan to return at Christmas. Lets face it, for a restaurant that has been trading since 1974, it has to be bloody good! Superb work St Moritz!
C. V.
Very nice little place in the heart of the city. The cheese fondue pots are a superfun experience to share with friends.
P. A.
Gorgeous place..felt and smelt like we were actually in St. Moritz instead of London. Really nice service and amazing out of the world absolutely delicious fondue and raclette...will definitely be back
C. N.
Amazing place for a fondue! It’s nice inside, feels like you’re in a cottage in the Swiss Alps, I really enjoyed my time at St Moritz Restaurant.
E. F.
Nice, authentic swiss French cuisine. The beef slices, snail and half and half fondue were all great
D. P.
Great fondue and very friendly service.
N. G.
Kooky interior adds to the vibe at this Swiss restaurant that specialises in partnering bread, potatoes and other carbs with variations of their irresistible fondue. Make it all the way to the bottom of the rich, bubbling pot of cheese (served in delightfully kitsch vintage cookware) and you'll be rewarded with a delicious crust of cheese that the friendly wait staff will help you liberate if it clings to the bottom. I'll admit I haven't been to that many Swiss restaurants, but I have eaten a lot of cheese, and this place delivers on that front. For your first time, skip the variations and just go for a classic fondue with bread and potatoes.
A. C. C.
Very good cheese fondue and chocolate fondue. Nice wine. Very nice staff. A bit overpriced.
S.
This is great find- very authentic interior and cosy with only a few tables inside and of course, great for fondue! I came here for dinner with a friend as we both love cheese and our waitress recommended the Fondue MOITIE-MOITIE (a fondue with a mix of 2 different cheeses). It did not disappoint and there was plenty of the fondue and the bread and potatoes to dip for the two of us. The pickles we ordered were a great addition.
The wine list had very pricey wines so we opted for a bottle of the house white which was a reasonable price compared to the other wines on the list.
We had a lovely time here and were not rushed to finish and leave. It was also great that they have extended the seat Out to Help Out Scheme so we received a £20 discount on our bill which we didn’t realise until we got our bill.
If you love cheese, you will love it here!

Cool little dive bar in the basement, was here for someone's 90's themed birthday.

We're so happy we booked here for the 1st of August (Swiss National Day)! As a Swiss person living in the UK it was nice to get a taste of home in the centre of London. The place itself is lovely, the traditional décor is just perfect, the food smells and tastes exactly as it should. We were very pleased with the house wine as well.
Considering the uniqueness of the experience and the position, the prices are super fair.
Overall great experience, I would definitely recommend!
A. C.
Delicious fondue. Decor is rustic and the service staff are friendly. Over the winter especially it is very popular so I'd recommend booking ahead.
C. M.
Fabulous fondue - very authentic and the best I've had outside Switzerland!! Thoroughly recommended.
T. H.
The tall brunette Italian-speaking waitress upstairs today had absolutely no manners, pity as food was adequate but overpriced
A. M.
St Moritz is a true genuine Swiss restaurant in the heart of London. As you enter the place you will be surrounded by an intense and delicious smell of fondue, which permeates every corner of the restaurant. The atmosphere is magic, warm and charming, you can forget to be in one of the busiest city of the world once entered the door. The style of the decorations inside reflects the Swiss culture, and the staff is ready to advice you on the broad choice of food (and drinks). Overall an incredible tiny piece of Switzerland in the centre of London, not to miss if you are in love with fondue. Highly recommend.
O. O.
Excellent place to have a fondue ! Dessert are also good but if you fancy something more traditional there is plenty of other choices in that street.
M. N. P.
Was a diff experience but thought over £20 per person for cheese bread and potatoes was a little OTT....but cheese was lovely would I go again prob not ....
J. B.
I'd never been to a Swiss restaurant before and I'd never had fondue! So what a lovely discovery it was to fine this lovely, cosy, friendly little piece tucked away in Central London! The place is beautiful, all old beams, warm lighting, and Swiss memerobilia on the walls.
The staff were really nice and helped us make sensible choices from the menu. The food was gorgeous, and a lovely mix of different options and the wine list of entirely Swiss imported wine was delicious.
It's something a little different and I really recommend it if you want to try something tasty that you might not have tried before!
C.
Reasonable Swiss Restaurant that tries a bit too hard to replicate the Swiss chalet feel. 🏔 The food is good but quite expensive 🫕 Also they are get confused if you book for a bigger group and require a reservation months ahead as well as the chosen menu of every person… 🧀
R. C.
Cheese fundue was great. But those deserts are insanely good :)
B. J.
Have been here many times and I will keep coming back. Yes, it’s expensive, but this is to be expected for a Swiss restaurant in central london. The cheese fondue is simply divine. Starters are great, desserts are also good - but not quite as good as the rest of the menu. It is worth getting a chocolate fondue though, if you’re not too stuffed after your main course. Staff are usually attentive and polite - however, the last time I was there they seemed to be understaffed and we were frequently left waiting. Hoping that this was a one-off.
I’d say it’s worth booking in advance as it is a small restaurant that fills up quickly.
B. R.
Delicious fondue! Well worth a visit.
N. M.
Love cheese, then you'll love this. Four of us, we got two pots of fondue between us and then one chocolate fondue for two for all of us. Very tasty and just doooo satisfying. Wine is also great, not a fan of white usually but their house white was really good!
J. A.
The fondue was very average/not very good. I don't know which cheese they put in it, but it's certainly not the best (if it's cheese at all). We had 2 fondues for 4 people and we all agreed that it wasn't good... my friends gave it a 3/10, but I give it a 4/10. I don't like to give a bad review, but I hope the restaurant learns from it so that they can improve the quality of their fondue. I'd like to come back in a few months and give it another try to see if it improved.
l.
It was quite hard to get a reservation I called multiple over 3 hours until somebody finally picked up. Still we were quite excited. Unfortunately we ran 20-30 minutes late due to the tube, the waitress told us quite rudely that they already cancelled our reservation. Although I apologized she kept going back and forth, trying to give us a pep talk which was unnecessary but ended up leading us to the table anyway . All the other waiters and waitresses were very friendly and attentive. The food was really delicious and quite authentic. Overall we enjoyed our dinner there and it was a cozy atmosphere.
Sidenote: prices are as high as in Switzerland itself.
O. M.
Excellent fondue, it really feels like you're somewhere in the Alps.
a. S.
The food nice, the waiting staff were helpful but quite assertive and threw quite a bit of sass at us for finishing our food. (We were two people eating a fondue for 2) when we put the money down, they were a bit weird about giving our change back (the change was over £5 and the service charge was already included). But the food WAS nice!
L.
The only Swiss restaurant in the UK that I know of, so even if it wasn’t great I’d still rate it highly for that reason. 100% worth checking out, pretty different & delicious food with a good atmosphere. The fondue is a lovely vegetarian option.
I.
Very good for dinner, takes you back in time
M. W.
I decided to take my wife here based on the reviews and also because neither of us have had Fondue before. Firstly the decor is very unique and you really do feel you are in a little Swiss Alp getaway once you walk through the front door. The Fondue was very nice but we thought it was quite expensive for what was essentially melted cheese in a pot with a bowl of cut up bread. Worth going for the novel experience, but I would probably not go back again.
P. B.
Delicious (and expensive) fondue. There are several types of really great potato, veg and meat fondues available and all served in a very cosy little space. It is well worth the money.
K. P.
Very charming restaurant with a nice ambience. Especially enjoyed the Raclette. Great place for cheese lovers!
F. H.
St Moritz is a stellar Swiss eatery in central London.
From the moment we stepped into the place we received a warm, friendly welcome from the staff. The service was good from the get-go and stayed good all evening. The restaurant itself has a very friendly and rustic feel to it; thanks to the very Swiss decor.
So if it's your first time at a Swiss restaurant you have to get the fondue; so we got the fondue. And what a fine fondue it was. Imagine a symphony of the finest Swiss cheeses all melted and ready for dipping. We didn't get a chance to try any of St Moritz's set menu, so I couldn't comment on it, but it looked very nice and more than a little appetizing from what other patrons were ordering; we'll have to try the schnitzel next time.
If there's any downside to St Moritz it would probably be the price. This is not the cheapest of restaurants in London, but then fondue isn't the cheapest of things to order on a menu. As such we couldn't find much fault therein.
So in summary, if you're looking for a taste of Switzerland - in central London - and if you have no illusions about it being a slightly more expensive dining experience, then you won't be disappointed. Check it out.
R. W.
St Moritz may be the only fondue restaurant I've ever visited in London, but the food is so good that I don't think I'll ever consider trying a different one. The restaurant is extremely cosy and decked out like an old Swiss chalet. The food is superb and you'll be stuffed before you can finish the pot! There's a great range of sides if you're feeling ambitious, and the chocolate fondue always looks incredible (although I've never had any room for one!). I'd particularly recommend the restaurant for small, intimate evenings. It's fairly quiet and perfect for romantic dates or special occasions.
B.
Delicious fondue and decent wine. The restaurant feels like you've stepped back in time to Switzerland in the seventies. The menu is pretty simple - raclette, fondue, and Swiss classics like rosti. There are a variety of different meat and cheese fondues, all great fun to share and if both quality. Service though is very poor, and this took the fun out of the experience for our group, since the waitress was very critical. If you can survive that, this is a great place for fondue.
C. H.
Went as a part of a large group to celebrate Switzerland's birthday and everything was paid for so I cannot comment on the price or value for money.
On arrival the smell of cheese was so strong I didn't think I'd be able to stay, however, I quickly adjusted to it and everything else was perfect.
Cheese fondue was delicious, also had a yummy pastry type thing for a starter and I could have eaten just then they were so good! There was a selection of Swiss red wine or white, Swiss beer, kirsch schnapps (a cherry liquor I believe) and probably more that I wasn't aware of. I heard the wine was great as I didn't drink this myself but the Swiss beer was not my cup of tea but still great to try! Later there was a large selection of coffees to try from.
Upstairs was a little cramped for such a big group but the staff and atmosphere made up for this. Great service all night, thank you! Would definitely visit again.
I. B.
Best fondue in London, in a very authentic atmosphere with the staff dressed in Swiss outfits and the place decorated like a chalet. The menu also features other goodies, like cordon bleu, schnitzel or spätzli. I will say not to put your hopes up for the drinks menu though, the wine list is pretty good, but for anything else you’re likely to be disappointed.
A. M.
A cute little place with delicious Fondue.... Only Downside, your bill can quickly climb as high as the matterhorn!!
Other than the genuine Geneva prices, this place is authentic, cosy and very friendly.
A. M.
As a Swiss citizen coming from Gruyere I tested the St Moritz's fondue. I was happy to find the real taste of Swiss cheese! Very good quality / price. Could be a little bit less liquid. Nice staff and typical Swiss atmosphere. I liked it and definitely recommend to try a fondue there.
A. D.
I've been here before. Great place if you like the cheese fondue. Last time I had to book months in advance but post COVID the place is empty. If you like fondue or other Swiss food now's the time to make a reservation!
I. M.
Very nice restaurant!! Very quiet and you can sit and enjoy the conversation with your friends or boyfriend. The food and wine is amazing!! We tried fondue with mushrooms, Rosti and White House wine!! Simply delicious! Highly recommend to everyone who wants to try Swiss cuisine or simply likes Swiss food!! Fondue was great, maybe just a little bit liquid, but overall we enjoyed a lot!!! Thank you staff for so much care!!!
S. M.
We went on a Sunday lunchtime and it was very neatly empty. We'd prebooked two different fondue pots for a girls day out and they were stunning. Fondues come with a mountain of delicious artisan bread, and fresh veggies. The staff were lovely and we hope to come back to try the other fondues.
L. F.
Great fondue. We ended up spending quite a lot, but had a lovely traditional big pot of the standard cheese fondue which comes with lots of bread, and then had the chocolate fondue with fruit and marshmallows, we had some wine too which was also lovely. The decor is also quaint and Swiss.
Not much more you can ask for from a fondue place really.
C. G.
Nice little cosy restaurant but very disappointing.
Visited the place for dinner as a friend highly recommended. the visit was to have the full fondue experience. We ordered one meaty and one veggie ( I am veggie and I explained before ordering) yet only one bowl of fondue cheese was provided therefore we could not deep our sides into it. Plus the bread given didn't seem fresh as per menu.
When ordering the desert (chocolate fondue) we were told it was not possible to have it because the chef was cooking the main meal of large table of 10 people. If chef was to cook our desert we would have to wait 30 minutes and by that time we would have to leave the table because it was booked for someone else.
Overall not a great experience as expected, even though the waiter tried her best.
C. N.
They were fully booked every evening I was in London, so we booked for a lunchtime instead.
Restaurant was very quiet when we were there, waitresses were attentive, but not overbearing given how quiet it was. Atmosphere is good - very Swiss style place (including the lovely smelly of raclette cheese). It is a short walk from various tube stations, so easy to get to.
We had a fondue between two - amazing, great quality food, and very filling. Was slightly on the pricier side, but to be expected for such a niche market restaurant.
Highly recommend, but needs to be booked - books up for evenings couple of weeks in advance.
C. W.
These people know their cheese! Their cheese fondue is every bit as traditionally Swiss and tasty as you'd expect, and their chocolate fondue comes with a range of treats for dipping. Fantastic service, authentic feel to the environment, and great food. It's a can't-miss experience!
I. R.
Excellent cuisine. Very friendly service.
H. J.
BF bought me here for my birthday. Its not cheap, but it was delicious!! Wine, fondue, meat plate, coffee for two came to about £95 with tip. Ideal for a special occasion. Decor is a little dated, but I guess it's on theme with the general vibe of the place. I would definitely go again and recommend to friends.
N.
A very decadent meal, but very tasty treat. And the creme caramel was so good! Our waitress was very nice too, had a lovely evening.
S. P.
Amazing fondue! Very welcoming staff
V.
Incredible food and service! Fantastic dining experience.
A. C.
Amazing restaurant! I just had a fantastic fondue with my boyfriend on Valentine’s Day, not only was the food fantastic but I got a free box of chocolates and a rose to celebrate v day! Definitely book in advance to avoid disappointment
s. h.
The food was nice, service was a little slow and a bit costly for what you get
S. Y.
Pretty expensive but really cute place. The fondue is great - but order one between two or two between 3 etc as it's enormous and pricey. The place does smell strongly of cheese, but what do you expect!? It's like a little time warp. Pretty dark on the inside and I wouldn't recommend going for lunch - it's empty - but I'm sure it's a fantastic evening venue.
P. S.
Food was nice enough but small portions and without any doubt the service was really poor.
Instances such as leanimg over me to pour champagne and dripping water from the chilled bottle over my legs without apologising as it 'was only water', clearly having forgetten the vegetables for my dish, yet when being asked where they were, not apologising and saying they are coming, but still bringing them just as I was finishing my meal.
But the final straw really was when she knocked over a full champagne glass over my friend and me and barely remembered to apologise!!
We won't be returning to this establishment.
T. E. J.
Never had cheese fondu before, so what better to experience it in a lovely Swiss restaurant.
The Fondu was excellent, service was pretty good too. In fact i noticed a few "regulars" as the staff seem to know them really well.
When winter arrives, this is the best place to come and I expect it to be busy then too, so best book ahead. Any other time/season you could get lucky and walk in.
A.
Nice food, the fondues are good. Wasn't a massive fan of getting the veggies to dip wholly raw and cold, raw cauliflower isn't high on my list of favourite things - but maybe it's traditional?
A. H.
The fondue was delicious, the ambience was lovely apart from the loud club downstairs. The wine was superb (and priced accordingly). However, when you're charged nearly £5 for new potatoes heated in a microwave, and £9 for charcuterie which even tesco can do better for £2 (neither of these prices listed on the menu) it's hard to not feel nickle & dimed. 3 stars it is.
C. M.
Food ok. Had to give order twice ( new waitress first time??). Fondue was good. But upstairs seating area got VERY warm. Mentioned it to wait staff, who said there wasn't much they could do. Left early due to uncomfortable temperature.
G. F.
I really loved the atmosphere of the place and the yummy fondue.
A. M.
Delicious Swiss food, the cheese fondue is a really good option for a cold winter night and the chocolate mousse is heavenly.
The place itself is really pretty and picturesque and the staff is very friendly.
M. M.
A must-go for cheese lovers! From the moment you walk into this quaint Swiss restaurant, you are greeted with the pungent yet comforting smell of cheesy goodness. Sauce pans full of smelting hot fondue delivered to your table, with plenty of dipping options from bread, meat and veggies. And trust me, you do have room for that cheeky chocolate fondue for dessert!
M. B.
Whilst some have complained about poor service, our large pre-booked group had no problems. Enjoyed the smoked fish strarter, beef stroganoff with Spätzle and mixed salad. Chocolate fondue dessert was delicious and service was attentive. Not cheap but a fun experience.
E. c.
Cute little Swiss resturant, transports you from busy London Street to cosy mountain chalet. If you like cheese this is the place for you! The fondues are a little pricy for what they are but it's definitely worth a visit regardless. Nice wine list too!
G. I. C.
As you enter the main door, one thing and one thing only hits you: cheese. The waft is bold, knowing and mature.
The staff were great, ordering was simple and a wonderful time was had by all.
A. C.
I only been here twice for the chocolate fondue which is made with exceptional swiss chocolate and comes with a variety of fruits to dip in, so will be amending my review once i try the rest of the menu.
Skipping that, this place has a lovely swiss and cosy vibe which make it an amazing destination during a cold winter in London.
The only reason i am giving it 4 stars is because they are very hesitant to sit you if you are only interested in getting a chocolate fondue and they would expect you to order something from the lunch menu before getting the chocolate fondue.
This is understandable as they only have a few tables and it can be avoided if you go after lunch hours/afternoonish when it is almost empty and you state that you are only there for dessert.

Very good, authentic little bit of Switzerland in the heart of London. I had the chicken in tarrogon sauce which was superb, and all around me were having the cheeses on offer - the raclette was very popular. This is a very small, rather cosy restaurant, so reserve a table otherwise you'll be disappointed.
N. W.
Absolute classic fondue place to go to. Old school, cheesy, dark wood, smells like a ski holiday!! The staff were so attentive and the cheese was traditional. Not a new fad - this is a proper old school fondue venue. GO NOW
M. S.
Went to St.Moritz with a friend, and was very pleasantly surprised by the ambience and the service. The place is small, so if your idea of a nice dinner out on a cold winter night is to sit in a cosy restaurant with good food, this place is it. The 1st floor is better than the ground floor. For dinner, we had cheese fondue, which was quite good, and mixed salad before that, which was nice as well. The service was marvellous. I would definitely go back here again.
T. R.
Cosy, great food, great service, overall a fantastic dinner experience. We come here fairly often as it feels to escape London. So why only 3***?
Simple, the restrooms/toilets aren't worth a public toilet you would find in a busy trainstation at 3AM in the morning. I mean, seriously hygiene levels and crankiness of the toilet can destroy this experience.
If you go, just make sure you won't have to use the gents and ladies and you'll have an amazing experience.
It doesn't take much to give it a cosmetic upgrade but it's 30 years over due.
Y. K.
This is the spot to make believe you're in a Swiss chalet. But in a really, really old fashioned, tacky one. You'll get the yodelling and oompah in the background, all wood panelling and red and white chequered curtains. The food is fair, delivers the goods but no more than that. There are better versions of fondue available in London now, so unless you aim to dine in central London, you have options. The staff is surly but efficient. The cost is as expected (and to be fair the same elsewhere) - doesn't break the bank, but here is basically a no-frills pot of cheese and bread at £20 pp.
S. W.
Very cramped restaurant - we were wedged in tightly against a wall - but delicious fondue. All the accompaniments worked well, and the waitress even scraped the toasted lumps of cheese out of the base of the pan for us at the end.
J. H.
Long running favourite of mine. I think I first came in around 2000 or 2001 and have revisited about once every five years since then. It never changes, which is such a rare thing for a restaurant in London. I love their rosti and their spatzli and of course the fondue. Oh and the decor. There's really nowhere else like it in London - and that isn't just a figure of speech in this case, I genuinely think this is the only Swiss restaurant in London.
Booking essential in the winter months! You may well need to book a whole week in advance in January or February particularly, even for a midweek evening. Tends to be quieter in the summer apparently.
N. G.
A bubbling pot of cheese was just the thing to chase away the chill of a damp evening. The fondue isn't quite the same as you'd get in Switzerland. The staff are indeed as punctual. It's best to book, and expect that you'll only have the table for 2 hours.
V. C.
Delightfully 70s naff. Have the fondue. Impeccably cheesy. 🤪
I. B.
Simply amazing, the fundue was perfect, very kind service, will be back soon!
S. K.
Authentic Swiss fondue, great snails. Homely decor and nice staff. A bit touristy at times and lacking atmosphere. Also tiny inside. Best fondue I've found in London though!
N. M.
Great service, good food. Very small and cosy place
G. F.
Cheeeeeseeee! You just can't have enough of the amazing fondues from St Moritz. I tried them all and all of them are fabulous, so just order anything from the menu. The people that run it are lovely and service is always great, the restaurant has a great atmosphere.
K. U.
Authentic Swiss food in the centre of London. Definitely the best cheese fondue this side of the English Channel. And the "Züri Gschnätzlets" (veal in cream sauce) is delicious too. The restaurant also has an interesting and very tasty selection of Swiss wines.
C. B.
The food is good and the staff are rude. It’s great. You just end up in a cheesy mess! It's decked out like a Swiss chalet in Soho which is totally unnecessary but fun none the less. I wouldn't go too often but it's fun when you do.
M. V.
For two, we order basic Fondue, which came with a selection of white and brown bread and a bottle of swiss valais white wine. Fondue tasted great and wine was good, but a bit overpriced. Friendly staff. The best is the decor and ambience of the restaurant.
S. M.
If you can get past the strangely run-down decor (perhaps it's deliberate) of a wooden ski lodge, you'll find amazing fondue. A cheesy dream with piles of bread, go for the Moitie-moitie fondue, and make sure you leave room for some of the chocolate fondue for dessert. Prepare to walk out feeling uncomfortably full but hopelessly content.
C. S.
Love the food here but it so hard to actually eat there. The phone is repeatedly not answered and even when answered am often told that they have no availability even when you try to book a week or more in advance.
I have also been turned away from a near empty restaurant on a walk in basis on several occasions.
Would love to eat here more but surly waiting staff who have ignored me for several minutes to chat to each other give an unfortunate impression of being deeply put out by people wanting to actually eat here.
Perhaps they don't need the customers or perhaps staff and/or management don't care. It's hard to tell which.
A. R.
Had a nice first fondu experience at St Moritz. The staff were attentive, and seemed a little impatient for us to order, but all in all a good evening. I loved the fondu - highly recommend getting the potatoes, too, for a variation in texture - and bringing a stomach settler for afterward.
R. A. (.
One of my favorite restaurants in London, excellent authentic swiss cheese fondue. Super cozy atmosphere and nice staff ! We always reserve one evening for a nice dinner at St Mortiz, every time we're in London !
C. R.
Traditional Swiss food and beverages. Their spatzle is definitely my favorite spatzle; soft inside and crispy outside. I tend to get the stroganoff when I go, but all their stews are quite delicious. They also have all the usual Swiss cheese dishes (fondue and raclette) which are nice in the winter.
J. T.
I went to this restaurant a couple of weeks ago as I was craving a cheesefondue. I'm used to excellent cheesefondues from my mum (obviously she does the best) but the one I had here came very close! The restaurant is quite small and cosy and got an authentic feel. The staff was nice as well and the service quick. I can only recommend it and will definitely be going back soon.
N.
Really good restaurant! I had fondue and it did not disappoint at all. Would highly recommend for all the cheese lovers out there 👍🏻
P. B.
LOOVE IT !! Me and my boyfriend always go here for special occasions. It's really cute and romantic and the cheese fondue is perfect!! The service is great too.
G.
Good food, the wine selection is poor and the place really stinks of cheese. Ventilation would have been nice as you don't need everyone you meet to know what you are a few days ago! Also the tables are quite close together making the staff having to reach over you
G. B.
Amazing intimate restaurant space serving quality food.
I. A.
As a Swiss living in London it's great to get some food from home ☺️ for example veal meat which is difficult to get elsewhere in the UK. Food is prepared authentic and is very delicious. Fantastic place for cheese lovers.
T. C.
Gosh, so much cheese. So much delicious cheese... Its not the cheapest but the fondue is the real deal.
T. L.
LOVE THE CHEESE FONDUE.it's the very first met with cheese fondue in London, and I was crazy about it,and the waiter is professional, you don't even need to ask,he's ready to serve what you need :)
btw.the plum wine is also a benefit after the fondue. I do miss it so much now !
B. H.
BOOK FIRST TO AVOID DISAPPOINTMENT! Get your cheese fix here. If your cholesterol levels are too low, they can help. Raclette and / or fondue heaven can be yours in this unassuming Wardour Street purveyor of cheese-related Swiss delicacies. Also, Swiss wine is here and it's good!
J. L.
Lovely food, authentic atmosphere, nice friendly staff
O. L.
Good fondue - a little expensive for cheese and bread per person but I guess it is central london.
Overall a good experience, good food and worth a visit if you want alpine food.
A. B.
Great little restaurant with excellent food and service. Expensive, but not dissimilar to what we have paid for fondue on the continent and tastes just as good.
PS Nigel Britton, the cheese in a vice as you enter the restaurant is called raclette. Educate yourself before you criticise!
E. D.
Cool restaurant with original history as well as being traditional Swiss food. So lovely to have in London. It isn't cheap but then the products are authentic they serve. Worth it.
G. W.
They make it suitably authentically Swiss (and Engadine) by charging 1.45x more than you conceived was humanly possible.
You are overwhelmed by an olfactory wall of raclette as you walk in. I can smell it now. And do take a punt on the Swiss wines... some are very good.
Heading back soon - it's been wa'ay. too. long.
J. M.
Hilarious experience. The food is great, you will consume more cheese than you thought possible. The service is - shall we say forceful? All part of the experience.
I. S.
Superb, intimate, authentic Swiss restaurant - awesome Cheese and Chocolate Fondue with great service - came here with the family for my birthday, a very different and memorable night - which was the objective.
G. C.
Me and my boyfriend love swizz cousine specially cheese fondue and bratwurst with potato rosti. The restaurant is small and cute, food is very good and staff is very nice and friendly.:)
R. B. -. E. k.
Thought I would do a review as I saw "Sweety" wandering down Sheraton Street with lots of bunches of flowers on Saturday. Not sure how he does it but Sweety is in his 80's and one of the true characters of Soho, and I love to stop and have a chat with him.
Armin “Sweety” Loetscher founded the St Moritz Fondue Club in 1960.
Sweety was a pastry chef at the renowned Madame Floris, and opened the club to cater for vast amounts of Swiss people living in London.
So there you go a bit about Sweety who IS The St Moritz restaurant. He is a totally awesome fondue chef with an International reputation. He still caters for some really really big high rollers and you can imagine when you go in to his restaurant you are in for a treat!!
Great guy, great restaurant and still not sure how he is so active and sprightly at his age..Amazing!!
V. B.
Super good food, worth trying it...a bit pricey.
M. L.
Their fondue bourguignonne is wonderful - especially the garlic sauce. Book early if you want to get a table in winter!
D. S.
This review is for the club downstairs. It's a London Landmark. Thursday night hosts Gazes rocking blues which is an institution. The kinks used to play here in the sixties. I doubt is changed much since then. Don't expect a modern club experience but do expect to enjoy your self.
C. M.
Wow! Felt like we were in Switzerland. Fondue was amazing! Service excellent definitely recommend a visit.
R. B.
This is a Soho institution it's been around for at least 40 years, I recently visited for old times sake after a gap of 30 odd years and it's exactly the same - same decor - same menu - probably the same staff. The food is okay and not so special but it's St Moritz and it kind of defines old school Soho
N. H.
A really good meal. Not cheap but simple and well cooked and also very substantial. Service friendly, welcoming and helpful. Spatzle are excellent and the Rosti was probably the best (and most authentic) I have enjoyed. Decor and ambience definitely rather contrived, but still definitely 'cosy'.Highly recommended
A.
The service is slow and the seating is a bit too cramped. But the fondue is authentic and excellent. And by London standards it's not too expensive.
S. R.
Absolutely delicious fondue restaurant, the place is always crowded though so remember to book a table in advance. La fondue Neuchâteloise is pure melted awesomeness
P. S.
An absolutely lovely little restaurant burried in London. The cheese was exceptional, really filling too. And staff were very friendly and created a lovely atmosphere
A. Y.
2nd time there - light dinner, so just had the famous raclette and coupe dänemark! LOVELY!
Their house red was nice too!!!! Super friendly staff as well! LOVE this place!
D.
My second visit here and service and food still as good as I remember it on first visit. Can't wait to go back to try the chocolate fondue this time
K. S.
So much cheese! Was amazing. Had two different cheese fondues between the four of us and the chocolate fondue to finish. Incredibly full but just so damn tasty.
T. T.
Amazing fondue, feels like you've been teleported to Switzerland.
Quite pricey but definitely worth it for a special occasion.
R. P.
It's a yearly tradition to visit here for Christmas, and every year it's a success. Even though I only visit once a year, I recognise some of the staff, and their longevity speaks highly to the quality. It's on the expensive side, but a great treat for cold winter days.
K. K.
long established club / live music venue. cosy, atmospheric and just doesn't change even after all these years. Cloakroom is handy. Ladies, if you're in a hurry & someone is hogging the only ladies loo (as happens) - use the gents!!!
N. D.
Had the best ever chocolate fondue. Atmosphere is very cozy and authentic, with warm and really good service.
D. L.
5* for food - it's as good or better than in Switzerland
2* for service. Has deteriorated over time, with staff now being outright rude. Sad, as it is else a great restaurant.
M. M.
Lovely little venue with lots of swiss decor and music. The fondue was delicious, and the staff were friendly and attentive.
S. W.
Amazing cheese fondue and great service
D. S.
What a disappointment not to see any raclette (as a main) on the menu in one of the only Swiss restaurants in town ?! The sides are very small and pricy, bread for the fondue is not good..
R. J.
Food is good as always. Not really any changes in the menu since I went years ago! I do think they should get more beers in - they only have 1 available and it is a later.
D. S. M.
Best fondue in London, delicious.
P. S.
So yummy. I was full for days afterwards. Price is a bit steep especially as we saw them bring in a bunch of tesco own brand baguettes.
D. R. A.
only decent fondue place in London - tricky to get reservations in peak of Winter - great for a date - atmosphere quaint and service decent - does what it says on the tin
M. L.
Great food. Fondue is always a winner
A. P.
Although this place is located in the heart of Soho, it feels like being in a small mountain hut in the Swiss Alps. Great cheese fondue and raclette !!
B. D.
Amazing and authentic fondue, bottomless bread is a must here; there's so much cheese!
R. C.
Fantastic little gem. Delicious dinner. Downside, you need booking. But they did find a table for us as a walk in.
D. T.
Once you get past the smell of cheese that hits you the moment you walk through the door, this place is pretty good and one of the areas more underrated restaurants
C. R.
Hands down the best fondue in London! Would highly recommend, specially during the cold months.
A. D.
Love the food but not happy with service tonight. Door opened at 6.10pm instead of 6 and as my table for six people was booked 6-8pm we were reminded of this several times when only once is necessary :-#
N. B.
Tasty food, great atmosphere. Fun staff.
T. D.
Delicious fondue for two
J. T.
Great swiss style food and friendly staff. If you love fondue then this is a must-try
N. K.

S. G.
Lovely onion soup.
M. C.
Food is great. Though cheese was a bit strong. Obviously better to go in autumn/winter

(Translated) I went to dinner with a friend of mine without a reservation. We liked the place a lot, maybe it lacked some air being small but at the same time welcoming. We took cheese fondue and that is the typical dish, very good. Discreet house wine, music is typical and obviously connected to the origins of food. Very friendly waiter and staff, acceptable price but once enough, even if good I don't think I will come back because it is too heavy.

(Translated) Very nice place, attentive staff, but watch out for real fondue lovers !!
We took a "half and half" fondue (a priori gruyère and cow cheese ...) And the texture did not please us very much: sparkling cheese / grainy texture ... as if there was flour added to increase the volume.
The deli / bread / potatoes were very good. Shame not to have had the impression of eating cheese, and therefore a real fondue :(
(Original)

Womer finished gsi, hands eus the dessert menu brocht and me hands bellt and then it is only in mind cho z froge, or mer actually no soup would have welle, but do hämmer de Chopf scho bim dessert gha and thank you. So if I would definitely wave the soup, I would have to thank you for it!
Eus hets happy, but if I was really hungry, I would still be hungry.
I would definitely be against it, because the charter is soooo long and it’s all good and the Nochbertisch looks great! I'm looking forward to the created Cordon Blö and Zürigschnätzlets!

Do muess me ganz laaaaangsam ässe und gnüsse!
Also wenn me die Suppe unbedingt würd welle, müesst me wohrschiinlich grad sälber dra dänke!

(Translated) Food was not bad.
Sausage cheese salad as in Switzerland.
The Züri shredded was unfortunately without Rösti (would have to order). The meat was tough and a bit expensive for £ 20.
Staff otherwise very nice!

Wurstkäse Salat wie in der Schweiz.
Das Zürigeschnetzelte war leider ohne Rösti (Müsste man dazu bestellen). Das Fleisch war zäh und für 20£ etwas teuer.
Personal ansonsten sehr nett!

(Translated) A little French restaurant. There are varieties of fondue. And because it's small, it's a little noisy. The Fondue Chinoise was just fine.
