Fantastic place to have a dinner. If you like sushi, this is the right place. Everything was so tasty. Be careful, the soy sauce is really salty! The service is also great!

Had both types of dishes here. Meals and sushi. I thought the sushi was nice. Good creations well presented with a nice mix of flavours. However the meals were sub par in my opinion. I'd go here again for sushi but not for a dish such as Katsu. The udon noodles were also quite oily. Not good. I'd give them 3.5 but rounded up to 4 because the staff were nice. Went again, got a katsina chicken. Curry was major salty. Down to 3 stars.

Absolutely love this place. I have been to Sumo Fresh many times and the food is always amazing and tastes fresh. The waiters and waitresses give such great customer service and are really friendly. This place has to be one of the best value for money I’ve eaten at considering the quality of the food and the portion size. Would highly recommend.

The environment is friendly and welcoming, however the phone does go off which is a minor inconvenience at best. The decor makes you feel as if you are in a gastronomic trendy restaurant, as per the exposed brick, dark furniture and bright yellow bulbs. Additionally The real selling point is the sushi wheel inside. The menu is limited although this is more to the restaurant size however the refined menu does make way for excellent quality. Just be ready to pay sushi prices is all I'm going to say on that point I've had both sit down and dining and can recommend both. Although this is if you can get the staff's attention as when it is quite they huddle in the area by the coffee machine and talk to each other. Overall I would defiantly come again as it is a gem for the area, although is let down by staff who can be seen in the corner and the phone going off.

This is an amazing spot to grab a meal in Wanstead. The one dinner I had there, we had very friendly service, Maria was a great host. I almost never write restaurant reviews, but the service she provided was above and beyond excellent . Looking forward to visit Sumo again.

Looking up reviews my wife and i decided to got for lunch on sunday. It was worth visiting indeed. Choice of sushi was massive we tried few of them and all were fresh and delicious. Attentive and quick service. Also great coctails. Defo coming back.

One of the best places to get food from! Food is made fresh and presentation is very very clean. I understand delivery can take some time from looking at other reviews but i'd rather my food fresh than rushed. Overall, I'd recommend everything off the menu haha! Quality food on your doorstep!

We love sushi and this is or favourite sushi place. They service excellent food and the prices and relatively cheap - excellent value for money. Service is perfect every time and they accommodate little requests like splitting a bowl of ramen for 2.

Perfectly adequate. The kitchen has the delicacy of a kebab shop, sushi is quite hastily thrown together. Flavours decent, fish is fresh. The sushi conveyor appears to be just for decoration - we saw the same trays going around for 1.5 hours, not a single customer picked a plate. I'd best avoid those - not fresh and don't even have a "timestamp" sticker so you know whether what you're picking is fresh or there since morning.

Good food. Automatic 2* deduction since I had to order & pay on my phone. I don't pay restaurant prices to squint at my phone, set up accounts, enter credit card numbers. I want to talk to a person, discuss my order and any special requirements etc. The whole blasted point of a proper restaurant is table service. At least at McDonalds you get a huge touch screen to order from.

We ordered from Sumo Fresh as a last minute option. Being informed that there may be a short wait, possibly up to 45 minutes, the owner said it could well be shorter - which it was, they got the food to us in just over 30 minutes. . They were naturally busy with takeaway orders. We’ve eaten at Sumo Fresh and enjoyed food and cocktails - on this occasion it was takeaway. The food was well packaged, beautifully presented and the fact I rode from Wanstead, to Plumstead - the Katsu Chicken was still warm - so certainly served hot! The food was 5 star and cannot be faulted - Gyoza chicken, Yaki soba, Mixed nigiri , Futomki crab & Katsu Chicken Curry. Prices are really good, the bill can soon get quite high if you buy, buy, buy everything on the menu - but everything is well worth the price. Service has always been excellent when eating at Sumo Fresh and is just as professional and excellent as takeaway & delivery. Looking forward to be able to go back when they re open again.

As we are in lockdown at present, this review is based on collection only. I have ordered takeaway on a fairly regular basis. Always met by a friendly and courteous staff. An extensive menu is available. Service is extremely quick and efficient. The food itself is of the highest quality. Enough said.

Fairly local to me but first time diners we wasn’t completely sure what to have so went on the advice of the waiter. That turn out to be a good move we had a good selection of warm cooked sushi for starters which was quite filling so we didn’t go to heavy on the main. On top of that we felt the price was very good for what we had. We will definitely be going back as we feel we have found a little gem.

Without a doubt the best Sushi restaurant I have ever visited. Me, my wife and kids (an 8 year old and 2 year old) visit here often and we are always impressed, with the kids loving the food and regularly asking to go. We have taken friends and family along over the years too, and feedback is always positive with a few people now having this as their favourite restaurant too. Its not the cheapest, but I have had more expensive at a lower quality, so is good valve for quantity and quality. Cant wait to go again!

Delicious and authentic Japanese food. I'd come for the takoyaki alone - good enough to be served in Osaka! We have eaten in and also have had take away and have not been disappointed. Some issues with deliveroo being rubbish but the staff at Sumo Fresh, especially Imran went above and beyond to resolve! We will definitely be coming back!

I’ve eaten sushi all over the world and this is the best sushi I have had in London. Great service. Every dish amazing. Only fault is they use wooden chit sick’s, but this is very small pedantic point. Can’t fault this place looking forward to going again. The tiger prawn roll was the best. My 13 year old chose this and it was amazing. The edamame beans were extremely good. Only issues I had was I wish I ordered more. £90 for three people with drinks was very reasonable.

I can't recommend this place enough, it has the freshest sushi I've had in the area for years, and better than some 'Japanese run' places. The wasabi was real which was a pleasant surprise, the ginger wasn't pickly either. The fish didn't smell strong, and all the sashimi was melt in your mouth umami. You get what you pay for and it was worth the price!

Sumo Fresh is probably one of the best Japanese restaurants in East London. They consistently deliver quality food despite the pandemic. One of my favorites is Miso Cod, Takoyaki, and Crispy Ika. Each dish has good presentation and the flavor is just right. One thing would make my experience better is if they had a greater range of Japanese beverages and desserts.

Really like this place, been before and will come again. Chilli squid is SUPER tasty and really packs a punch! This place is great for couples and families alike, however booking in advance is highly recommended to avoid disappointment as its a small wee restaurant. Also be prepared to sit on the bar stools, no problem with this just adds to the experience and is like sitting at "chefs table". Enjoy!

The sushi here is amazing, I love the shop and the people that work here are great too. The sushi is some of the best I've tried and at the price it's not too bad. However it still is a bit expensive so it can't really be a regular thing. it's in a good location with free parking for 30 mins nearby. But if you're looking for free parking for longer, unless you go later than parking enforcement times, you're out of luck.

Ive ordered for home delivery, taken away myself and also had an Al Fresco lunch with my husband here at Sumo and I can honestly say the food is amazing. You can see the Chef's whipping up your meal right before your eyes which in itself is a fun experince especially all the different types of Sushi! Inside of the resturant is slightly dark but very clean and able to seat tables of at least 6. The staff were pleasent and I honestly feel that the resturant is a credit to the area. Ive been back almost everyday since trying it! I almost forgot to mention its child friendly but may be a good idea to book as it can get very busy in the evenings. 10/10 from me!

The food and cocktails are consistently good, we have been coming weekly for years but this has slowed a lot the last 5 months. I ordered a veggie roll for the first time and it was missing 2 of the 6 fillings. It was good to see the sushi hand rolls have stopped shrinking and are back to a good size, my husband and I ordered one each. Tamago (omelette) happened to be one of the ingredients that was missing, it was one of my main reasons for ordering the item. I also noticed that they have changed their tamago and is no longer bright yellow and cardboardy in texture, it's much paler in colour and the texture is softer. The service is always annoyingly slow. We can be the only people in the restaurant as we quite often will visit when it's less busy, 3 waiters will congregate and happily be chatting away and so very difficult to get their attention.
