Reviews of temper Covent Garden

Chilled Saturday afternoon at Temper. The food was okay (bit too heavy) and the eating outside setup was good. Down point was definitely the price!
Flavour: 3*
Hospitality: 4*
Value for money: 2*
J. F.
Really nice atmosphere, the staff were very accommodating and I enjoyed the music played. I ordered the chicken main course and had 3 sides for the table but only gave 4/5 stars as I found the portions were small. Nice taste, but not sure if this was reflecting in the price, but worth the visit if your in Covent Garden.

We had a bottomless brunch for 24 people which was absolutely amazing. The service was so good considering how many of us there were and the staff did so well. The food was soooo good no complaints and the drinks were lovely too!
The cassava chips are amazing and the sauce that comes with it is just soooo tasty!!!
Also the value is so good, for £40, you get a platter and bottomless drinks which was perfect.
Would highly recommend for a birthday/ occasion or even date night!! so good. Thank you :)

If you like steak then you NEED to try this place. The kitchen is in the middle of the restaurant and awesome experience getting to watch all the food being cooked. Service was 100% and next to none we've experienced before as well. We will definitely be coming back!

Great restaurant good ambience. Great food, really enjoyed the meat vibes. Excellent balance of spicy and mild food. I particularly enjoyed the empanadas with beef, lime and spicy peppers, hot and refreshing at the same time. House wine, was ok, not too strong but good addition to our meat centred meal. Definitely recommended to anyone who loves meat and a bit of spice. Price was alright.
A. H.
Fantastic food, service and atmosphere….the special fries, cheese burger tacos and the goats cheese were outstanding. Definitely back again soon.

Decent atmosphere at Neil Rankin’s meat focussed restaurant where definitely more suitable for a friends night out than a romantic quiet date night. Steaks are fine but not in the same league as Goodman or hawksmoor. The lamb carnitas small plates was probably the best dish, and the cheeseburger taco is good too. Service was a bit hit and miss - when it’s busy it can be hard to get attention etc. but overall still fine. Ultimately with London’s Uber competitive dining scene it’s not somewhere that I would specifically recommend to go to be honest, as I don’t think it does anything specifically better than anywhere else. Still not bad an option for a meal before a night out or if you’re looking for a party atmosphere with a big group of friends. Not a foodie restaurant. It’s current rating of 3.8 on google is a bit harsh - probably closer to a 4.1 or so. C.£60-70pp. 14/20 overall

We enjoyed lunch at Temper near Covent Garden. My beef flavored with tajin spices was very tasty. And the "cookie" with ice cream dessert was really a treat.
V. Y.
Our server, Hamza (apologies if name spelt incorrectly) was helpful and knowledgeable about the menu and offered a number of recommendations. Our dishes were well seasoned and flavoursome and definitely moreish. The caramalised spicy corn was interesting. The pork rib was tender and sauce struck just the right balance between sweetness and spice - delicious.
All members of staff were friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble for any of them.
Temper is definitely worth a visit.

Tasty food. Ideally a place to go with a group of 4 maximum. Mostly sharing style food. We went with a group of 10 and it was hectic.. food arrives all at different times whenever it's ready. They missed some of our order but was very kind about it and we got it on the house. Staff was lovely but slow to take drink orders. Toilets are down stairs. Quite expensive for what you get but a nice ambiance and flavours.
C. H.
On the plus side this place has a lot of atmosphere and is nicely laid out but get a table at ground level. The food comes through the meal and is of a good standard but pretty expensive. Staff are friendly but here's the BUT it took 30 mins even with 2 chases for the first round of drinks and even a bottle of the house red (decanted wine into a glass bottle) took 20 minutes. In short we refused to pay the service charge that's automatically added to the bill and won't be back.
I. O.
Food was good and tasty. For the price you pay though im suprised the food doesn't come out at the same time. Slightly awkward eating when others still haven't got there food. Would have liked the food to arrive at the same time
P. C.
We visited on a Sunday during BH weekend after looking for somewhere with bookable outdoor seating but we sat inside due to the weather.
Large spacious restaurant with well distanced tables. We had a booth.
Food was good. The aged beef nachos, pork bites, pork rib and burrata were delicious. Prices were very reasonable for Central London.
Service was good. Staff were not wearing masks but friendly, informative and patient.
It’s a great option for central London with interesting stuff to try on the menu.

I went to this restaurant last night and it was a great experience. The food was amazing, all of the staff were super helpful and gave great recommendations (especially the cookie for dessert) and the atmosphere was really fun. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a nice evening out with good steak options.
K. L.
Phenomenal steak and the open kitchen was amazing to watch. Super friendly and knowledgable kitchen staff and the food was cooked to perfection. The 1 star loss was due to issues with seating, I booked a table for 4 and needed to change to 6 when I arrived at 9.30pm, the restaurant was only about 60% capacity, but the hostess was adamant she couldn’t find any tables for 6 despite some tables staring us in the face and we ended up standing around for 10mins. Seems like the table allocation system is a bit off.
S. T.
This restaurant definitely has a great atmosphere! You can ask to be sitted in front of the kitchens chef so you know what goes into your plate. The food overall was good but for a better experience I would suggest to go for the house prime cuts. The service was great 👍
S. D.
Didn’t try the meat dishes but what we ordered was nice and flavoursome. Slightly overpriced but I guess it’s due to the location.
Good vibes
M. R.
Really great food but quite pricey!
R. H.
Good atmosphere in a great location. Staff were buzzing around and I felt they were understaffed but that could be a product of the time.
Steaks were well cooked and guacamole was great. The cookie pudding was a great way to finish the evening. The supper club option is super value with wine included.
S. B.
Temper Covent Garden was wonderful from the get-go. Greeted warmly, shown to our table, wished a happy anniversary and were given attentive service all night. The food was next level incredible and the drinks were equally as great. The atmosphere is wonderful and the staff truly take care of you. I was extremely happy with our night and we can't wait to come back and recommend it to our friends! Thank you so much.
E. A.
This is a nice place for the young hipster in you. The decor is interesting with moral and an industrial feel to the kitchen in the middle of the restaurant.
The waiter is very friendly and have us some really good recommendations.
The food was really tasty and the quality of the porterhouse was very nice.
The only drawback for me was the loud music, but I am sure most of you won't mind it.
S. A.
Visited this restaurant last week as a surprise for my birthday.
Everything about this place was STAND OUT! 10/10! Staff couldn’t do enough for us, they were all smiles, explained the menu well and checked in frequently to make sure we had everything we needed.
I love the concept of seeing the grill and watching your dinner being cooked. The chefs were so friendly and happy to answer questions. The food was absolutely delicious, all the dishes I tried were cooked perfectly. In particular, the T-bone steak and lamb kimchi carnitas were fantastic. I liked the drinks selection and the ambience was fun! Would definitely go back and would highly recommend it to friends. Thanks for a memorable birthday meal!
C. W.
3 of us attended a bottomless brunch event. The food was really good but wasn't quite the bbq selection that you would expect (lamb koftas only) and portions seemed a bit small although very tasty. Really great selection of cocktails (magharita and strawberry daiquiri was execllent) and other alcohol on offer as part of the deal for £39.95 and we were lucky enough to be allowed to stay a bit longer than the 1.5 hrs. Will was execllent and really personable although another member of staff not so much so but overall definitely worth a visit.
T. C.
All I can say is WOW, I am traditionally a thin crust pizza man as a matter of religion but this experience has opened my eyes well and truly. I don't know if I will be able to go elsewhere for a slice again..... We attended the soft launch of this restaurant and I have to say the food was fantastic. The Prawn Cannelloni was a highlight and is a must in my opinion as well as the cuttlefish and meatballs being of superb quality. The star of the show the Detroit style meat feast pizza was outstanding with the superbly cheesy crust making this a very special treat. All the food was presented well with outstanding flavours throughout all the dishes, when this place is fully open GO......... don't even think about it just go and grab a pizza with friends, you will not regret it.
J. G.
Amazing all you can drink cocktails and wine in 90 minutes
L. L.
Temper was a lively and modern place to eat. Dim lighting and good atmosphere. We ordered the t bone and porterhouse steaks which were lovely and done just the way I like it. Can't fault the food. Dessert was nice too!
However, the service was not what I expected for a place like this. It was very clear the place was well under staffed and service was very slow (having to wait up to 10 mins to get attention). When we got the attention of staff, they seemed very rushed and distracted - more focused on their task rather than on the customers. I would have given 5 stars if only the service was better.
D. G.
We enjoyed our meal here. The best things were the little tacos they serve as entrées; we really liked the fried fish and the pork (not so much the cheeseburger one). We tried the goat carnitas (okay) and the cauliflower with mole (good) from the wood oven, and the t-bone steak from the grill (good). The wine list is a bit irritating, because they don't serve bottles. You have a choice of a 175ml glass or a 500ml carafe (which left us wanting more, but not that much more). The bill for two came to £138. We probably could have come out a bit less but they sightly upsold is on the food.
B. M.
Busy place but the meat! The steaks we had were amazing! Sadly, it took forever for our wine to arrive and we had to ask for it few times, which was embarrassing in front of our guests. Also side dish of greens has never appeared 😔 Overall though, we did have an enjoyable evening.
N. D.
The flatbread thing was surprisingly good. The meat was literally melt in your mouth, and quite decent. The potatoes and burrata was good too. The space is pretty modern and contemporary, and on a sunny lunch time it was very pleasant. Service was OK. I guess it was OK value for money.
I. F.
The food is fantastic. The staff are so kind and helpful. Everything was soo good. Overall everything was amazing; it gets an 11/10 for me!
C. C. I.
Really love this place! I visited the temper in Soho earlier in the year, and really loved it, so I was excited to try the Covent Garden branch. It did not disappoint. The menu is a bit different to the one at Soho, there's more of a focus on flatbreads at Covent Garden, but this is by no means a bad thing. We had the Smoked Porchetta flatbread, which was delicious - the bread was soft and the meat was flavourful. One thing they kept from the Soho branch (much to my delight) was the melt-in-the-mouth deep dish cookie, except this time it was filled with Nutella (a welcome surprise). The drinks were great too - I had a Peach Spritz which topped everything off nicely. I can't recommend this place enough! Oh and I almost forgot - the Soft Shell Crab Tacos were sublime!
V. M.
You can’t really go wrong with Steak, chips, sauce and 90 minutes of unlimited wine. (Well apart from the hangover the next day!) start off with the cheeseburger tacos - you won’t regret it! Sit at the bar if you want to enjoy the sights of flaming steaks and fresh pizzas being made. Oh and the cocktails are equally potent 🤪
P.
Food in here was great. We came for the special cinco de mayo night complete with drink specials and mariachi band which was enjoyable. Unfortunately, service is a little chaotic.
K. B.
Big fan of Temper Soho and Temper City so I was looking forward to trying out the Covent Garden spot.
The decor and vibe is quite stylish and similar to their other locations. Love their open fire kitchens.
The service was friendly but our waitress really didn’t know much about steaks when I asked about the different cuts. For a meat specialist this seemed a bit ridiculous and a lack of basic training. She had to google what a porterhouse steak was. 🤔
We were also excited to try their Detroit style pizzas but the waitress said they’d stopped doing them now. Which was disappointing. Especially since later on during the meal we saw them take one downstairs.
The wine was nice. We had a bottle of Tempranillo.
The food came very quickly.
We had the padron peppers in Szechuan salt, which were delicious. The cheeseburger tacos and soft shell crab tacos were quite tasty.
The bone and marrow and whole chilli flat bread was very tasty indeed. Really rich, spicy and fresh.
The potatoes with mozzarella were ok. And we had the ribeye steak, which was quite nice if not a little gristly.
So all in all a bit underwhelming, as we had high expectations. The service, while very friendly and nice, seemed under trained, and the lack of pizzas was disappointing. The food didn’t blow us away.
J. d.
Great, fun interior. The service was friendly and good. The food was not to my liking, to many flavours clashed. Mint and salmon, crab and rich fishy sauce. I would have preferred simpler dishes.
A.
We had a lovely time. Zahra advised us on the dishes and we were really happy with all the food! Would come back
C. L.
Had an amazing dinner, Will on the wait staff did a tremendous job recommending dishes and navigating the choices- really unique whole beast butchery, give it a try if in the area!
K. I.
Food is really good, wine was amazing, the music playlist was on point, service was impeccable. Highly recommend! This has made it on my list of fave restaurants with good food. A little pricey but well worth the money💰as a treat to yourself.
D. B.
Service was top notch, the waitress was amazing. I thought the food wasn't worth what it charged, it was nice but not amazing. The pork barbacoa was really nice, however the cheeseburger taco wasn't anything special. The beef fat potatoes was really tasty and the cheeseburger pizza was well cooked to. Menu is simple which is what I like. Added onto this the whisky sours need improving, cosmopolitan was nice though.
J. D.
Amazing food, amazing drinks. Jemima, the lady serving us, was the best service I have received a long time. All the staff were so attentive and lovely.
J. P.
This temper location is an immaculate new spot for perfectly executed Italian fare. As this is a relatively new restaurant, it would be understandable to experience slight hiccups in the dining experience, but not so. This new entry into the slightly upscale but still competitively priced eateries in Covent Garden really nails it.
The veggie ragu with bread (£6.00) is a perfect starter for two to share, made even better with an order of cheese and pickles (£3.00), an odd dish but still delicious as it’s essentially a tray of melted cheese. I will say, though, eat the cheese quickly or risk it congealing into one large block. The St. Marcellin fried tortellini (£5.00) is also great, though note you only get four pieces, so try to get as many bites of oozing cheese and bread crumbs out of them as possible.
For mains, there’s a decent number of vegetarian and vegan options (vegan pizza has a dedicated section of the menu with four selections). The “ALL the cheese” is a very solid choice, boasting five different varieties of cheeses and cooked in a tray in such a way it comes out looking like lasagne. It’s a definite must-try, recommended if you’re a hungry twosome or a party of three.
Z. G.
We had the Porterhouse and Rib-Eye steaks and they were delicious. The manager even commented that my Porterhouse Steak was so good he took a photo before serving haha!
The service was elegant, friendly and our waitress, Vivien, made sure our evening was faultless and fun. We will be back again!
R. M.
We had a fantastic day, Mark made the day along with all the staff. We were looked after and couldn’t ask for a better day. Thank you Mark hope to see you again Gary Ruth And the crew
M. C.
Get the cookie dough for dessert. Also the Dorito fried fish is amazing. And the crab tacos. Just everything really. The gin and tonics are massive
D. H.
Bottomless brunch was a hit. The food was very tasty and the friendly staff don't shy away from getting you more drinks, as long as your glass is empty. Watch out for their Bloody Mary, it's bloody spicy.
A. T.
Birthday surprise dinner with the waiter ruining the surprise upon arrival. The food was hit and miss. Some meat dishes came out warm with fat on it already solidifying. Flat bread dishes was delicious. Service needs improving as only 1 out of the 3 staff that serviced us appeared to know/passionate about what they are doing/serving and the others don’t give a damn. Overall I recommend try another temper branch, you might find better experience there.
S. T.
Thank you Temper.
Go to this place, and sit at the bar, and eat some fantastic food. Best steak I have had this year.
Once vibe, amazing team.
Cheese burger tacos?? Yes.
c. a.
Great decor, nice vibe in this lovely restaurant in Covent Garden. The food is good, and the desserts (especially the pie) are to die for! Would recommend it if you're looking for a nice and casual place to have dinner.
A. P.
Tasty food, friendly staff. The wood roasted sea bass was such a big portion, it was hard to finish. But the concept of making my own tacos table side were fun. Lychili martini was decent, but more on the sweet side, could have used a little more spice.
K. W.
We've been here before and it was brilliant. This te was a little disappointing as didnt live up to expectations.
The food was good, however we told the waiter my mum had shellfish allergy and we were all sharing mains. After 15 mins of eating the waiter came over to say one of the dishes had shellfish in the sauce. By this point it was already too late as everyone had tried it. Luckily my mum was ok. Overall left us with a weird after thought of the place.
Т. Т.
The best steak ever. Service is excellent. Really love this place, we have been here few times and it’s never disappointing.
M. Q.
Food was good, although they forgot to bring the nachos, which left us waiting for 25mins for the rest of the meat and tacos. The service was very up and down and it ended up on a bad note when the waiter slapped a metal tray with the bill (btw £130 bill for two people) while rushing somewhere else, no thank you.
I feel lately people believe the service charge is a right when all my years as a waitress has been a tip…
S. L.
Great food - the tacos especially were brilliant. Unfortunately I didn't find the service was up to the same standard - some more attention to detail required and we were left waiting for long periods at various points.
Also the music wasn't quite right for the venue, something a bit more subtle would have been more relaxing and fitting for the atmosphere.
N. L.
Tasty food, good service and an enjoyable lunch. Only giving 4 stars as it’s just not on the same level as their city restaurant. That’s a 5 star winner all day.
Would recommend to anyone. Great value compared to other steak restaurants and the staff are awesome
A. H.
Service was excellent, especially the very young lad. Porterhouse and ribeye steaks were such good quality and cooked to perfection. Truffle Parmesan chips were superb too.
We’ll definitely be back!
G. D.
We'll definitely be back! Great food and great vibe. The bar was a tad disorganised but it was a busy Saturday lunchtime and they had an enormous Christmas work do in, so with that in mind they were rushed off their feet. Can't wait to eat there again!
E.
The steak is perfect and delicious. Defenetely have to come back again.
D. S.
I wouldn’t pay attention to the bad reviews here and think they deserve a higher score.
The food is delicious. We shared two steaks between 4 of us, with a selection of small plates. Everything was great and worth the price. The outdoor space is nice and the restaurant interior looks good. Service was friendly too.
A. W.
Great restaurant with a busy/active vibe. Food was incredible, and a good choice of drinks however the food was very delayed waiting up to 1hr 30 (hence the 4 stars) but the restaurant did cater to this and give us some money off as an apology
K. M.
This place is really great. A really good vibe sitting outside. Now with Eat Out Help Out it's really good value. Good steak and the green sauce is lovely
T. A.
Truly nice food particularly the steak, beef lovers would really appreciate it 👌 and very unique cocktails to match...will definitely visit again.
E. R.
Visited to celebrate a friends birthday. The food was great and service was top class. Rafa was amazing at recommending food and wine - I can confirm all of his recommendations were spot on. Prawn tacos are a must. Our friend has a nut allergy and Rafa was very attentive to this. Couldn’t fault the evening - hope to return soon!
S. B.
Second time here, great food, great service.
Get things to share, ribeye on the bone was delicious. I'll be back.
S. V.
Dining solo can be pretty intimidating but the staff were lovely and inviting , the food recommendations they made were incredible.
P. C.
Food was good..Service folks was friendly n attentive
M. F.
Great service, the food was very tasty. Overall I really recomnd to go here for lunch or dinner. The open kitchen concept is nice as well.
Favorite and recommended dish is the pizza hands down
M. G. M.
Customer service excellent. Our waitress was so lovely so helpful in explaining the menu. Genuinely couldn’t have done enough to help us! The entire team (including Rafa) made us feel so welcome and 100% would return to this branch after a poor experience at the soho branch. Amazing- can’t wait to come back! Number 1 table EVER!
M. A.
Great Service, Nice atmosphere and Good food.
C. E.
Service was good, food is not bad but wayyyyyy over priced, spent £300 including tips & service charge after waiter recommended (3 of us) us how many dishes to order.....
S. S.
I have been to Temper City branch before so I knew the food was going to be good. The Covent Garden restaurant has a great outdoor terrace set up with heaters. A varied menu, with a lot of choice & everything was delicious loved the pork rib & paratha and the prawn tacos. Service by all staff was fantastic but special mention to Francesco for his attentiveness and great recommendations for food & drinks. It is on the pricey side but is worth it. Would definitely return
P. A.
Lovely restaurant, so clean, and the staff where so nice as was the meal, would certainly recommend and I will be back!
R. B.
An absolutely delicious dinner in a great atmosphere. Staff were very helpful when dealing with a dietary requirement and when an error was made they were extremely apologetic and conscientious to made an amendment to the bill. Myself and my friend thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and thank you again!
G. M. (. o. B.
Csdual, popular and trendy, very good modern Mexican food with a choice of nice small dishes to eat while waiting for the big steak.
F. V.
Had lunch on the terrace on the first day of re-opening. Tables well spread out and had big heaters either side of us so managed to keep warm. Staff were friendly and I could tell happy to have customers back! The food was a fantastic - we had 6 small plates between two of us and felt like a good amount. The interior of the restaurant was lovely so I'll be coming back when that's open too.
A. K.
I cannot fault the service at Temper, our waitress was lovely and everything arrived in a timely manner. However, I was not blown away by the food like I was lead to believe by the Google reviews. The taste was mediocre and the portion sizes were very small for the price. Two tacos for £10 with very little toppings on them... The bill came to around £170 between two of us which I've certainly had better meals elsewhere for less. Am I glad that I tried Temper, yes, will I be returning anytime soon soon, no.
S. M.
Food was good. But menu doesn't tell you the grams they will serve you of the steak until the bill hits. So may want to ask questions when it says per 100g.
J. D.
Delish. Affordable. Excellent simple produce served in a contemporary informal setting. Some bar seating around the open kitchen. Downstairs as well as outdoor tables.
M. A.
Temper is one of my favourite restaurants, the Covent Garden restaurant has a great atmosphere, and the food is always great.
A. H.
I would have given 5 stars, but we came for bottomless brunch which was amazing our waiter for the 1st hour was brilliant.
He then obviously went on his break so for the last half hour we only got served one drink - and the cocktails come quite small! Just a shame as we were looked after so well the 1st hour and the last half hour was just let down.
Food was amazing, the waiter was lovely and drinks were good though.
D. S.
Came for bottomless brunch. Spot on! Food was great, drinks kept flowing, and service was spectacular (thanks Nicole, you’re a saint!). Highly recommend
W. W.
Great steak and good ambience. It is good to sit by the large glazed window and see the outside world (I found the soho one too dark).
I do find the acoustic of the restaurant too echoey and loud. It was hard to have a relaxing meal and chat. It’s just a personal preference.
D. L.
I liked the atmosphere there and the location. Food is tasty with the big “ Tabun”.
A. S.
The pork rib alone earns this place a 5 star, they squeezed us in and told us in advance we need to give the table back by 6pm no problem, we ordered and the waiter explained it was probably too much so we reduced, food came up all together, flavours were awesome
B. N.
The food and drinks were very good, although quite pricey and the portions were smaller than I expected.
E. K.
Ordered a rump steak medium-well, it came overcooked to well done, had a lot of fat on it for a rump steak. Over-priced, the outside menu does not match the inner one. Will not come back
D. H.
Really loved this place. It had such a great atmosphere when we entered with music and staff working busily on display in the centre of the restaurant. We were seated at the counter and the chef welcomed us with some samples of meat with his rub, which he was rightfully very proud of. We opted for quite a few small/medium dishes so we could try as much as possible and there wasn’t a single disappointment. The tacos were especially good. We did sometimes feel a little ignored by our waiter who was serving a lot of tables this would be the only small point I’d say but still deserves the 5 stars. Can’t wait to visit again.
M. W.
The portions are small so you get to try multiple things on the menu. Great restaurant design and the staff are friendly
F. M.
Loved it. Really well cooked plates of food, loads of flavour. Friendly staff who were knowledgable about the menu. We sat at the bar around the open kitchen and enjoyed watching the chefs cook, good atmosphere.
H. C.
Great porterhouse. Other dishes not as flavourful as I prefer but I like salt.
S. J.
Went on Friday for unlimited pizza and wine, and was pleasantly surprised. Extremely good value for money. The house white wine is lovely and the pizzas are filling and tasty. Personal favourite was the cheeseburger pizza. I found that service was a little slow getting to the area, but once seated the waiters and waitresses were very attentive. I didn't have to ask once for my glass to be topped up, so big kudos on that one.
E. F.
Staff were friendly if a little nervous. Food was ok and the menu a bit different from the ordinary but overall I thought it was overpriced
I. F.
This was my first post lockdown brunch and it did not disappoint. A group of us did the bottomless barbecue brunch, the burger was one of the nicest I’ve eaten in a while. They had ran out of chicken wings but had a shredded chicken alternative which was great! The mojito and cosmopolitan cocktails were amazing, but too small so had to keep asking for refills often. Staff were friendly and attentive, overall a great experience!
k.
Everyone should try tempers the finest steaks in the city of London rare bread in line with the conservation of rare bread farm animals which would go extinct It may cost A BIT more but they have been bread for hundreds of years for the finest steaks
M.
Drinks, food all made I front of you while watch in amazement. The best beef I've ever eaten!
J. N.
My second visit here, if you like a good steak reasonably priced this is a great spot. Relaxed informal atmosphere. Highly recommended - great for a small or big group.
M. J. M.
First visit, went with sons whom had been before. Rafa was our waiter too. Steak was gorgeous, good wine. Attentive staff. Very good all round.
O. T.
Amazing evening. Came for a birthday and all staff were very accommodating, including serving our cake. Great service, great food. Thank you all
R. H.
Food is good, especially for big groups. Nice to order a few things and share. Beef fat tacos were quite chewy but the burger version was delish. We had booked a table, when we arrived they said we'd only have a two hour slot which would have been fine but service was so slow. Well over 20 minutes to get a menu and then the wait for our mains took just as long, if not longer. We ordered dessert cocktails when asked but as soon as they put them on the table we were told the two hours were up. Delicious cocktails but we couldn't finish them. Then they questioned why we hadn't payed the full bill, we'd left a bit off the service charge (the wait and cocktails). Maybe go on a weekday when staff aren't so snowed under.

After a great experience at the Bank restaurant we decided to go for a roast with family last Sunday and we haven’t stopped talking about it! Beautiful, huge cuts of meat and sides. Love the way it was served to share. They even catered for my veggie sister. Loved the tacos and the cookie too! Service was great even though it was busy and we all left full and happy. Still salivating and can’t wait to come back!
R. C.
Excellent service and the bar staff were able to help us pick a cocktail that we each loved. Top top top place to go!
M. A.
Stopped by for an early evening meal. Sat outside on the lively patio. Service was excellent - we were attended to by five different staff members in all. Delicious food – I can heartily recommend the Pork Rib and the Deep Dish Brigadeiro Cookie. Great ambience. We’ll definitely be back.
Z. C.
Busy place, but the service is excellent and very efficient. Food...top quality, beautiful selection of tacos.... highly recommend.
R. M.
Temper was fortunately open during some of lockdown, and it looks and feels quite classy.
The meat meals were affordable ( although I did go in a concession night). My rump steak was juicy and cooked correctly as medium rare, with a variety of sauces to choose from.
I think it's an " occasion" place, not your local cheap drop- in eatery.
T. B.
I'm not sure why this doesn't have a higher rating, I genuinely couldn't find anything wrong!
The service was excellent. Well done Jemima you were great!
The drinks were fantastic, i really enjoyed my on the nose cocktail and the Pinot Noir matched the meal perfectyl
The starters were tasty, i'd have another 5 portions of the pork tacos if I could.
Then came the main reason we were there, the steaks.
The 500g porterhouse was a delicious cut, not as big as i'd thought it would be but I have eyes bigger than my stomach so i'm really glad it was. It tasted amazing however, especially the sirloin side dipped in the Korean Barbecue sauce, they complimented each other really really well.
My girlfriend had a special cut of the fillet steak served rare, i had some food envy as it looked unreal from my side of the table.
We both left really happy, it wasn't overpriced by a longshot and i feel it beat Hawksmoor on service, price and quality of food.
It didn't feel as posh either which, for me, is a good thing.
Have my 5 stars please!
K.
Had jade as a server (hoping that’s her name, she was the only black girl on shift so I gotta support my good sis), she was quick helpful with ordering as it was my first time visiting the cocktails are great and that cookie they have amazinggggg
C. A.
Strong meat and grill options, just get on early to get the best steaks before they all run out.
S. W.
Excellent service but terrible to average steaks not justifying the price. I received what should have been a medium rare porterhouse which was well done with zero red. My friend received a well done rib eye which again should have been medium rare. These were removed from the bill and additional ten per cent removed from whole bill so loathe to complain excessively. The other food was average to good. My advice would be to go elsewhere. You could have superior steak for half the price at flat iron. Excellent service who tried best to resolve the problem stops me from making this two stars.
S. D.
My 1st visit here last night at around 6.30. It was starting to fill up at that time, so I was sat at the counter, which gives a good view of the chefs at work, and creates a bit of theatre.
Meat is the main event here, but I diceided to go meat free. I started with Mushroom mole with tacos, followed by a generously portioned piece of wood fired hake, served with a green sauce, salad and tortillas. Both featured Mexican type ingredients such as, Lime, coriander and chili, which I enjoyed a lot.
There isn't much for veggies/vegans. but that's not the point here.
My bill for the food, a craft beer, and the very nice service was £35. Reasonable for the quality and the location.
I am looking forward to trying the Soho branch.

My girlfriend and I spent an amazing evening at Temper Covent Garden to celebrate our anniversary. Not only was the food amazing but the special service we received from all staff was impeccable. A seriously special shout out must go to Benedict as he made us feel like VIPs throughout and really made our evening one to remember. I am very excited to go back! No one need think twice about visiting this fantastic restaurant.
A. T.
My husband and myself dined here for my birthday on 16th September, and it was perfect! The tacos were absolutely wonderful (favorite was the pork, literally bursting with flavor). The chef was also very cool, we sat near him, and he kept asking how the food was, enough to care but not enough to be intrusive. Our waiter Benedict was FANTASTIC! He helped us with the menu, he showed us our steak before it was cooked, he was funny, friendly and professional. An absolute star! Will definitely be back for some more tacos ;) THANK YOU ALL!
S. M.
The most insane food, I have eaten at this restaurant, the city & soho one probably over 10 times in the past couple of years! Booked a table at CG for the first day out of lockdown and tables were spaced, staff wearing masks and heaters outside, highly recommend!
A. L.
Great food and drink, plus the staff were amazingly friendly and fun. First visit but won't be the last!
f. d.
The restaurant is well laid out with both indoor (2 floors) and outdoor seating.
We ordered the 10 pound meal which includes a main and a drink. The restaurant was relatively empty in the afternoon but service was extremely slow and we waited almost 45 minutes for our meals. The food was very good (Worth the wait) but there were no sides with the burgers so the portions seemed quite small. The best part of the restaurant was the washrooms which were very.... very..... very clean and immaculate. By far the best I've seen at any restaurant in central London.
W. M.
Service was fantastic! We were able to get drinks mad quickly because of our wonderful waitress Nicole. Food was delicious. Would 100% come here again
L. A.
Tried the tacos and flat breads. For a group of three they added an extra taco to the portion and charged a little extra so we all.could have one each. Friendly service, good food, excellent flavours and nice cocktails. Drinks were a little slow to come out.
S. G. G.
Superb ice-cream biscuit.
Really good service too
T. Ď.
My first visit of a restaurant after the lockdown! Came for a dinner so it was quite chilly in the evening but luckily we had a heater. Very good food, nice staff and overall good experience.
C. D.
The best steak in my entire life. Period.
R. D. R.
Good good
H. H.
Excellent food and friendly service. The outdoor seating is especially enjoyable at this time of year.
M. M.
Great food experience made better by amazing staff!
a. h.
Tried this place on the off-chance, as they had lots of seats and the space was nice (airy and clean, but a bit jarringly hipster - tiles, topknots, and tattoos everywhere). Waiters were very pushy, particularly that we should share a selection of dishes, but we were not keen. Tacos were good, decent range of fillings and tasty. But I was hungry and five small tacos were not enough. Girlfriend wanted pizza. We were told that their flatbreads were like a pizza, so she ordered one. It wasn't.
G. U.
Amazing food, terrible service.
We had a meal here and although the food was fantastic the service was appalling, had to ask for drinks on 3 separate occasions and then the order was wrong when it came. Waitresses were lovely but seemed to have too many tables to deal with. Two hostesses who wouldn't take drink orders despite seeming to stand around while the wait staff ran around them doing actual work.
J. R.
Came here on a wednesday evening, the service was great and the place looks really cool. Very nice vibe in the restaurant, great decor and really good music too. We got the recommended pork, soft crab and fish tacos which were all ok, quite nice. We then shared a nice steak and two flatbreads, as recommended, and had a nice bottle of malbec. We paid over 60 quid each which was very pricey to me for some okay tacos and okay flatbreads. Our waitress was really lovely so it was a very nice experience overall but very expensive for what it is so I won't be back. I'd go to Breddos or Homies on Donkeys for tacos next time, much tastier for much less dollar.
N. H.
Excellent, loved it. A large work group dined here in mid June, the food and service were exceptional. The cheeseburger pizza is insanely good, the goat ragu starter and goat ragu pizza was very good, New England clam pizza also superb. We shared a lot of dishes so I cant remember or do justice to all! Good beers, wine and cocktails on offer too. Great service, friendly, fun, helpful.
T. H. (.
Everything is good, but barbecue meat is wonderful. Explosive flavours, succulent textures. Great cocktails. Outdoor terrace for the Covid conscious. Can't wait to go back!
S. P.
Spacious place in a very central location. Service is excellent and very friendly. Food is very well presented and tasty. Quantity is on the small side. Order a few plates and share. Very worth it. More for a drink and something to nibble rather than a hearty full meal.
A.
Went for drinks with a friend and the atmosphere at this place was amazing, very relaxed with good music. We sat at the bar and got to see our drinks being made right in front of us as well as various food dishes being prepared which was great! The island in the centre of the restaurant floor really adds character. The drinks tasted great and were extremely affordable for cocktails.
D. C.
Enjoyed the brunch with great service. Would recommend
O. B.
This place has the right idea for a restaurant but the execution is not the best in my opinion.
Food is good with delicious stakes and big portions but that's about it.
Seating arrangements are a bit strange. We were seated in a small table next to the door and when we requested a move to one of the many empty spaces further in (to avoid the cold breeze), we were told that it's impossible since the restaurant is fully booked (2 people btw). Some of the tables remained empty for the next 2 hours. Service was good but slow. For example wine arrived 10 mins after the starters and we could see it standing in the counter waiting for someone to pick it up and deliver it to the table. Either they don't have enough staff or they are not as organised. Most of the staff are lovely and engaging though (with probably one exception).
I would definitely give it another go in the future, maybe on a less busy night, just out of curiosity. But I am sceptical of what would change.
S. N.
A firm favourite... but has it let it's standards slip?
The soft shell crab taco was great.
The beef kofte flat bread decent.
The goat flat bread was dry and unappetizing.
Also, the pizza is now a pre-order item... shame!
Service was also not upto previous standards. A shame, as we have been 7+ times before and loved it. Hope it gets back to previous standards
A. B.
I had a really lovely time here - the atmosphere was great, music was fantastic, and the staff were incredibly friendly (like really noticeably friendly). I highly recommend the burrata - it was probably the best burrata I've had in my life, and that's one of my favourite foods. The only reason I hesitate to give it five stars is that it's a bit pricey for what you get - 12-14 pounds for two tacos is quite high, and I'd say that while the quality of the food is good it's not quite as good as the price suggests! But I'd probably come back here for some more of their fab sides.
Q. J.
A Fantastic meal, recommended to me by a colleague. I had pork so pastor taco & my gf had aged beef nachos to start, I literally could have eaten 5, 6 maybe even 7 of those little gems, I washed it down with mommas margahrita, a lovely refreshing cocktail.
As it was a Sunday, we had roast dinner, I chose the goat, my gf the smoked pork. Amazing lunch, just as good if I had cooked it.
Roast potatoes were the wrong type of potato in my opinion, and so didnt crisp up on the outside like they should, red cabbage was sweet and sour, Yorkshire pud big and fluffy. The meat was scrumptious a real delight . We chose the malbec from Argentina, wasn't cheap ,but so worth it.
Might I also add, the service we received was brilliant.
J. B.
Was really excited about going here, but to be honest was disappointed - it was really mixed:
The food was really good - well prepared, good quality & delicious.
The service was mainly average, but occasionally rude. Couple of examples:
My friend asked for some guidance on the best choice of cut for his steak - Specifically the difference between Porterhouse and Ribeye. He was told "they are different cuts".
- Two of our table ordered Ribeyes. Our server came back a minute later and said "no ribeye" and just stood there. No "sorry we're out of that" or "can i get you something else".
The value: This was an expensive meal, but given the poor service it didn't feel like good value for money.
Would go back for the food. I think we'll try a different location next time.
T. Ď.
My first visit of a restaurant after the lockdown! Came for a dinner so it was quite chilly in the evening but luckily we had a heater. Very good food, nice staff and overall good experience.
L. R.
Had a really fun evening. The £20 for unlimited pizza and wine was great value and perfect for a group. Only comment was that we waited a while to be seated. Would definitely go again though!
S. W.
Great food elevated even more so by the lovely, attentive staff. We came on a busy night and Jemima was rushed off her feet, but still found the time to have a friendly chat with us and talk us through the menu.
C. C.
Was here few weeks ago. Food was brill plus a great selection of cocktails. Pizzas were ace plus I had flatbread with pulled pork was delicious. Servers were first class very helpful with advising what was on offer.
L. S.
Style over substence. Lovely setting and ambience but the food was very overpriced for what it was. We tried 6 tacos - all were nice but none were memorable. Quite authentic with a real corn taste in the tortilla. Flatbreads (allegedly mains) are very small and not with particularly generous toppings. Lamb was tasty but the bowl of sauce that came with it felt like unstrained cooking juice with solidifying fat in it. Tomato salad was a mixed bag - half were bland and watery, half tasty. Ox cheek got an ok review.
Staff were great, but we waited over an hour for our mains after they'd cleared the starters. At these prices, quality should be much much better. I'd been excited to go, but left disappointed and a bit ripped off.
C. C. L.
We were looking for somewhere not overpriced to eat and we discovered this jewel. Food was delicious, the place was cozy and stylish and service was the best of everything. We only regret not remembering the name of the waiter :( he was super friendly :) recommended 100% if you look for new and worth experiences
P. C.
Much like other review's, an average experience, decided to have a drink while we waited for our table but bartender didn't knnk what a Sherry was, can only assume it was due to his lack of English. Food was decent but small portions, service was functional. Had much better at their other branches.
J. F.
They tried to sit us downstairs in the dark where there was no atmosphere when there were plenty of tables upstairs in the light. Mixed feelings on the food: The prawn & sesame cannoli & fried ravioli with honey were delicious. The lardo carbonara was also good but to charge £7.50 for a plate of fat is pretty outrageous. I came mainly for Detroit style pizza and the cheeseburger pizza did not disappoint - it was pretty awesome. Unfortunately the ‘nduja XO Minnesota pizza was a massive let down. There was barely any ‘nduja and I was left a little confused as to what justified the £18 price tag. I think they need to rethink some of their prices. The deserts were really good - we had the cookie and cannoli. Also, I know there are always teething issues with new restaurants but we had to wait 20 minutes between pizzas.
W. H.
Steak was tasty but overpriced, as were the tacos. Tacos portion was very small for £9. Service was good. Overall, good food but can get equivalent or better for lower prices in the same area.
S. G.
Food is so delicious - been a few times and standard is always very high. Cheeseburger tacos are the best tacos in London.
Only qualm is that some of the alcohol is very expensive - Prosecco is £80 a bottle - more expensive than some 5* hotel restaurants in the area.
I. H.
I'm a massive fan off temper Soho but I felt this location didn't have the same appeal. Its a bit more light, airy compared to the dark smoky Soho outpost. The fire was less prominent which was a shame. The food was still great especially the cookie dough which I insisted we ate despite being full.
A. F.
The place looks very nice. Open kitchen and the food was nice too.. good value per money but after eating I saw the cocker work at the open kitchen and it wasn't so nice and clean. He made the pizza with his hands and every time 'cleaned' his hand on his own shirts and continued to work (again with his hands) like nothing happened. Shame couse the service was also nice. The toalites was clean..
M. N.
Very nice
H. C.
Attended a Christmas works meal which was a feasting/sharing style meak. Meat/fish options were plentiful and enjoyed by most, but the vegetarian options were a bit boring. Good red house wine though.
G. L.
Too salty. [Edit: Ah, cell phones: I'm older and try to keep things short when typing on them. But I otherwise wouldn't have left a review. Now, after hearing from the restaurant, I do want to add (from my computer with a proper keyboard), that the fish tacos were outstanding, and that they should offer their mains with corn tortillas instead of just flat breads. Might solve the salt issue. Staff were great.]
M. A.
Great vibe, music & friendly staff!
R. D.
That was supposed to be 1.4kg a f meat. It was half fat :(
E. W.
A good, solid choice for a drop-in meal. The tacos are the star of the show here. Go big.
C. D.
Super friendly service. Food was incredible. Porterhouse steak, cheeseburger tacos, ribs. Try a Smokey Margherita!
M. S.
Had a great time at Temper! We had a fantastic waiter named Nas who was incredibly helpful and so friendly…nicest waiter I’ve ever had!
A. C.
This was the best beef cannelloni I’ve ever had! Brilliant service, great seats overlooking the kitchen and a fun atmosphere. Popped in for dinner / drinks on Friday night and will definitely return.

(DISCLAIMER: I dined here in summer 2018, in this time, it seems Temper have taken Detroit pizza off their menu! This is a real shame).
Being a big fan of pizza and an amateur pizza maker myself, I usually have my finger on the pulse when it comes to new pizza places opening in London. Thus, I was excited when I heard of a Detroit style pizza restaurant opening in London. American regional pizza variants are often rare to come to the UK, but with this and Japes opening recently I have hope more will follow.
Overall, I would say the detroit pizza itself, the biggest selling point of the restaurant, is pretty fantastic. The pizza itself had a crispy base, fluffy and doughey middle, and saucey, cheesy top, the apparent hallmarks of this style of Detroit/Sicilian pizza. The pizzas were also clearly cooked in cast iron pans, as some pans were on display in the restaurant, and the trademark charr and crispiness was evident on the pizza.
The restaurant itself was also beautiful, with two floors (one below), a fantastic decor and plenty of space. I did find it odd how when we dined here that there were very few people present, especially considering it was Pride Saturday, but it could perhaps be chalked up to the restaurant being new.
The only issue I have is price. The pizza was an appropriate size and highly filling, but also at £14 being the cheapest for the trademark Detroit pizza means it is a little too expensive in my eyes to justify coming back on a regular basis. The other pizzas, such as the "cheeseburger" pizza, and four cheese pizza cost even more. It's a bit of a shame, as the food was delicious and all members of my dining party enjoyed themselves.
E. C.
Incredible food (probably one of the best meals I’ve ever had), atmosphere, staff, value for money. The pasta dishes were so good!! And the Detroit style pizza .. wow. Everyone go there!!
P. S.
Def recommend. Unexpected surprise.
S. P.
Awesome food throughly recommend the Detroit square pizza and the dips. Staff are attentive. Although you could class this as casual dinning nothing felt rushed. I will definitely be going back.
D. B.
Amazing atmosphere, wonderful food highly recommend
S. D.
Nice food. Flavoured meat. Nice and interesting choice of sides and starters. Nice cocktails. Nice service. Beatiful decors. I didn t give 5 stars because my meat sandwich arrived cold at the table.
A. H.
Great service. The bottomless drinks are rapidly served. The brunch platter isn't huge but you won't be hungry at the end either.
K. G.
Steak, chips and unlimited wine for £29! Amazing. Steak was fab, service was great even though they were rushed off their feet. Definitely come again
P.
Great atmosphere I loved the inside area, even though we had a table outside bc of tier two measures. The food was nice, well prepared and friendly staff
L. A.
Great fish tacos and tequila
6.
Food and service was outstanding 👍
K. S.
A good location for a pre theatre meal since close to many West End theatres. Do try the cheese burger and fish tacos. Do let them know that you are going to the theatre so their service doesn't slow down!!!!!
p. l.
I went there for business lunch and had a lamb chop and quacamole, it's very tasty and I'm very happy with the food portion. However, it's very cold in the restaurant and the door to the garden is constantly opened, hence I only gave them four star.
J. S.
Amazing. And 50 a head for taco, flatbread, dessert, bottle of wine and a cocktail. Bargain!!! We had a dog. They put us outside but they surrounded us with heaters so we were actually hot by the end of it
M. M.
Simply Amazing. Neil Rankin has nailed this for sure.
Pizza crust (Detroit style - was to die for)
Thin crust was amazing as well.
Goat Ragu with polenta was so rich and so full of flavour. Similar ragu only available in Italy not in London at least.
What a pleasant pleasant pleasant surprise!
G. K.
Delicious food, lovely atmosphere, attentive staff. Great night out. Oh the cocktails were delish!
P. D.
Amazing food, lovely team.
H. H.
Excellent food and friendly service. The outdoor seating is especially enjoyable at this time of year.
M. K.
Awesome food service was fantastic will be back yummy 😋
T. P.
Well the food is good but we were waiting for too long for it.
You won't find any traditional British dishes.
There you could find Italian and American beer and pizza.
R. B.
Nice venue if a little loud but that was ok, the beef burger tacos were a good starter Nd the Detroit pizza is amazing if you LOVE cheese... I'd say go with a group of people so you can try different things as once pizza easily stuffs two people lol
A.
Small plates we had were good. Should have stayed longer but things went wrong with group. Fish tacos, feta cheese tacos and nachos which are awesome
J. N.
My overall rating for this place is : 87/100
23/25 for Food
13/15 for Ambience
20/25 for Service

Visited twice now. Eclectic choice of pizzas (thin, cheesy and just the right level of crisp / bite). Outstanding balance of flavours in salads too.
T. H.
Food is good. Service is rubbish, but we are all just there for the cookie dough desert.. dont go if you're expecting decent treatment though

Fantastic steaks and nice kind service. We felt very welcomed. The location is a bit noisy.

An interesting combination of traditional English cooking and Mexican street food. One of the best combinations was the cheese burger tacos.

Great steak and culture. However we are still in lockdown and none of the staff or the customers wore masks at any point.
B. A.
Love it for this place, enjoy different different food
P. F.
So the starters and sides are of Temper quality and are worth the visit. The pizza not so much. Imagine it will end up doing meat like the other restaurants
M. D. B.
Nice food, 20 minute service, lots of waiters, family spaces underground. Good location, Covid safe.
M. A.
Good food and great service. Portion sizes were also fair for the price. Some food s bit salty.
a. b.
Good service, however, food was verbalised on the menu far better than it tasted. Tacos are tiny #TAT
a. m.
Food is really ok. Nothing special and everything is quite heavy. The place is clean and staff friendly. Wouldn’t go back though.
D. G.
Just ridiculously over priced in my view. Great food. Don't try unless u mortgage your home first!

It was a pre theatre dinner deal. The service was great, the food was really good. Would recommend highly!

The ragu was excellent, the large charcuterie board was plenty big enough and the service was quick, friendly and helpful.

Poor service but credit they didn't charge for the sides. Think it's got great potential if service wasn't like this but for us, it was.

Great service with friendly staff. Went out of their way to make sure we were happy and comfortable. Will definitely come back and recommend

(Translated) I've been in London for about a month. Finally the restaurant !!! Quality, professionalism, taste and atmosphere. championship!!! Recommend sitting at the bar and watching the Irish man on the grill do magic. Indescribable professional world championships. Good music and great atmosphere. And also ketogenic food for those who prefer. Highly recommend and best to sit at the bar / part near Irish

(Translated) Came with a friend for lunch.
Nice staff, chose a place, wiped the table, quickly told about the dishes.
We decided on meat: we ordered pieces of beef and lamb on pancakes for two.
The main one is rib eye steak on the bone.

Пришли с другом на обед.
Приятный персонал, выбрали место, вытерли столик, быстро рассказали по блюдам.
Мы решили по мясу: заказали на двоих говядину кусочками и баранину на блинах.
На основное по рибай стейку на косточке.
