This is a great gastro pub. Good service, excellent food. ( for those remaining carnivores they do a ,delicious Bavette steak) and amazing decor. Moody, intimate lovely seating and never sitting on top of other people. We need to support these brilliant local pubs or they will disappear into the ether. Nice enough, but generic. Very 'safe' and uninspiring. Massively overpriced incredibly 'standard pub food' menu. Apparently it's won awards but I'm not sure what for, it's not offering anything new that you need to try. Believe it or not, cheaper to drink spirits here than lagers. £5.90 for a very average boring kronenburg?!? Reign it in love, you're just plain greedy.

This gastro pub has a brilliant atmosphere, all starting from the lovely owner Gill. We had a fantastic lunch for 30 or so family and friends - with lots of children and two babies, in the private room upstairs. The food was fantastic and a good price. The house white is very good and also great value for money. We brought our own champagne and red wine which worked out better for us, and paid corkage. The whole team at the pub were really friendly and professional and the afternoon went by without a hitch. It's so nice to see a well run organisation that does what it says it will with no fuss and no pretensions to be anything other that a welcoming and high quality pub with, delicious food and great service. Thank you for making our day work so well.

We enjoyed a fabulous Father’s Day supper at the Earl Spencer. The service was quick; food and drink superb. The beef was cooked to perfection and the Yorkshire puddings were the best I’ve had outside my own home. I’ve never had homemade horseradish before. Dogs are welcome and there is a relaxed, homely ambiance. I’ve only omitted a star as there was no lactose free milk for my cappuccino.

Busy, welcoming and friendly pub. Kid-friendly, especially at weekends. Good range of beers, spirits and excellent choice of wines. Terrific food, notably the roasts at weekends - I had the roast beef, which was lovely and pink, and a cracking little cheese souffle to start. I was lucky to get a table as a walk-in on Sunday but you would be advised to book. Not surprised this place is a regular award winner and is recommended in several national guides. Delivery easily matches the expectation.

The atmosphere is friendly and always welcoming to regulars and non-regulars. This is one of the few pubs I know that sells cigars (pretty ones too), which can be nice with a fancy bourbon perhaps. The outside area is mostly covered, so you don't need to worry about the rain when you smoke. Also, they have heaters to keep you warm in this British weather of ours. Inside is a mix of old fashioned and new (in my opinion), which gives it it's only unique charm. The drinks are great and we'll stocked. The food you can see why they have won awards for it. It's delicious and each day has its own menu. Service is wonderful and makes you want to come back again and again.

In my opinion this is the best pub in Southfields! The menu changes regularly by the looks of things but everything we have had is worth 5 stars. The Thai Red Curry and fries tasted beautiful! It's about £10-£15 per main meal which is totally worth it when you try the food. To top it off it is a beautiful pub and atmosphere and the staff are all lovely!

Great atmosphere and nicely decorated. Chef gets top marks for catering to dietary needs and bar staff on point. However the food is a touch over price as it tries to ride the thin line between pub fare and gastro restaurant. My recommendation is to up the table service and give diners more attention from the wait staff to make the overall experience worth what you are paying.

Nice family put. It's always busy but a nice atmosphere. Some comments mention that the pub is not cheap which is true. But it's not meant to be a budget pub. Amazing Christmas lunch for 22 adults and 12 kids. Jill handled everything very smoothly - food was excellent, the upstairs room was perfect for our needs and everyone had a great time. Absolutely recommended.

Popped in for a couple of drinks last night. This pub has a great wine selection and looks pretty from the outside but was very much let down by the bizarre service. The young lady who served us walked off part way through our initial drink order, did not return and then proceed to served another customer. When I said what had happened there was no apology and we were left standing confused at the empty bar. Shame, nice pub let down by surly and ineffective customer service.

Food is great quality, so is the wine list but sadly when we booked a table we found ourselves between the toilet and a large drinks party who stood around us all the time we were there. Not what I’d expect from a gastropub and a meal costing £75 for two. When we raised it with the staff we were told “it’s Friday we have to accept drinks parties”. One of our favourite pubs for Sunday lunch, or perhaps just a couple of pints and a jug of smoked prawns with brown bread and butter. Lovely. Shabby chic furnishing, some good beers, a nice atmosphere and a place to sit outside if you want to. About as good as it gets, even if it's sometimes a bit 'happy families' on a Sunday for an old chap like me. (Lots of what used to be called 'yuppies' in the area, which of course is fine.) Don't get there so often now that we don't live in Wandsworth, but worth a visit if nearby.

What has happened to the Earl Spencer? There are three pubs worth going to in Southfields. The Gardener’s, The Earl Spencer and The Park Tavern. The Earl Spencer used to be my favourite. I first started going to this pub a year ago, when I moved to the area from Putney. And to begin with I was very happy. There was a good food offering, a pretty good selection of beers and a good wine menu. It’s the closest to a ‘gastro pub’ you’ll find in this area - certainly out of the three. The menu is a little on the pricey side and probably a little too extensive for one that changes daily – and this, for me, is where the problem really lies. The dishes sound great, but recently, some have been poorly made. I like the Earl Spencer so much I was willing to give them the benefit of the doubt when I went back several times to sample the food. But ‘disappointed’ only goes some way to describing how I felt. I also noticed that the prices on the wine list had gone up – I mentioned it, as my bill was more than I was expecting. I was told I was wrong. I wasn’t. I actually don’t mind paying an extra £5 for their delicious white rioja, but don’t treat me like an idiot - just say ‘we’ve had to put our prices up’. Sadly, this place shows all the hallmarks of a once great pub in decline. And if the management don’t make improvements, they will lose more business. So how can we stop this from happening? Hopefully, they will listen to reviews like this. They should reduce the menu to a more manageable size and perhaps just do a few things really well, rather than try to do a lot of different things – some well, some not so well. Perhaps a selection of constants and a couple of changes to the specials would work out better for them and for us. What’s their signature dish? What’s the one thing they do really well, or that they are famous for? At the moment, I can’t think what that might be. There is a sign in the window that says ‘chef wanted’ so hopefully that will bring a change for the better. I say ‘hopefully’ as I really, really want to love The Earl Spencer again.

Das Personal beantwortete geduldig alle Fragen und es gab sogar kleine Probierdrinks als Entscheidungshilfe. Die Karte ist übersichtlich und bietet allerlei Überraschungen. Die Spezialitäten des Hauses, welche anscheinend regelmäßig wechseln, boten eine willkommene Abwechslung zu bekannten Speisen. Das Essen war sehr gut, ebenso die Getränke, auch für Reisende einen Besuch wert!

Je ne pourrais que trop recommander la beef bavette impeccablement cuite et délicieuse. Le grondin est également très bon. Le tout avec une belle carte des boissons et un dessert à partager.
