Reviews of The Farmhouse Restaurant - Waltham Abbey, Essex
D. D.
It was my first visit but I love this place. It is spacious, bright & airy, the food was freshly cooked & super tasty; I had the Chicken Waffle, my friend the Buttermilk Chicken burger. We had the most deliciously tasting smoothies (Vitamin C Blast & The Popeye) and left feeling well satisfied. I cannot wait to return to check out more of the menu.
They have outdoor seating and there's a good-sized parking area directly in front of the restaurant. There's also a Farm Shop next door where you can get fresh produce.

I really love this place. A real authentic farm café-restaurant and farm shop, just outside the border of London. Immaculately presented, funky modern-retro decor, a really authentic atmosphere. Excellent food. I would have preferred an open window for fresh air but I’m sure they would have done something if I had asked, as the service was lovely. Highly recommend.

So so good we visited twice in the same weekend.
Perfect Sunday roasts and ribs. Amazing brunch treats - those waffles. And fabulous coffee!!
Some amazing food and lots of deliciousness to enjoy. (Note to self - leave room next time for dessert!!)
G. P.
This is somewhere I go on the odd occasion to treat my self. The chicken and waffle is a dish that is not common to find here in England so when the mood strikes this is the only place to go!
Not to mention its absolutely delicious AND I like that eating here supports the farm.
S. P.
Interesting place as the outside appearance looks very flat - not very inviting.
Inside however is very rustic with a unique styling.Food and prices are Very reasonable. The staff are very polite and friendly.
Disable friendly entrance and exit ,parking is Free..
Only gave 4 stars as the service was pretty slow and we were not the only ones waiting. That being said I would recommend this place .

We went for a Sunday dinner. There is plenty of parking, the staff were polite helpful and accommodating for dietary needs. Although this was one of the more expensive Sunday roast, the portions reflected this. I recommend a visit. Groups, families or couples its suitable for all. We have put this on our 'visit again' list

Found this amazing restaurant while working nearby and needed to sit somewhere over a big pot of tea. Didn't know what to expect but was blown away by the service and food. The breakfast menu had too many great items so I'm going to have to come back a few times to try them all. Thanks so much for a fabulous start to my day. I'll be back soon and telling everyone I know to check this place out

It is a family business, as far as I understand.
The young chef who is running this beautiful restaurant - deserves a medal.
Two years ago, I was extremely rude, but he listened to my nonsense.
I hope he doesn't remember me, so I could come there again to tray his potatoes 🥔
Anyways, the Sunday roast is one of the best I have tried 😋
Well, his mentor, after all, was @jamieoliver.
They also have a shop.
Live their products.
Thank you,
Sandra

Chicken burger and ribs were delicious, but the fries were way too salty. Not healthy.

We enjoyed a really lovely Sunday morning breakfast with all the family. The service was so on point, super professional and attentive. I had the 'Popeye' smoothie to start, delicious, followed by the Skinny Essex a smaller full english which consisted of top quality produce, I always judge an establishment on their sausages and these did not disappoint. I don't think I'll be cooking a breakfast again with The Farmhouse so close by, would definitely recommend.

Amazing quality breakfast with the possibility of buying the products just next door! Stuff very kind and the place is really clean!
L. M.
Has breakfast here. Food was cooked nicely. I liked the tea came in a teapot & cup & saucer 😁

Nice filling brekkie, generous with the mayor syrup (unusual in my experience), with a lovely cuppa, friendly staff, clean toilets and a large car park. My one and only complaint is that the bacon was grilled... I always prefer crispy fried bacon, but I guess that comes down to personal preference.
N. D.
Lovely brunch at the farmhouse. Great quality ingredients and plenty of it! (Only small negative was my friend said her scrambled eggs were a little watery). Service was top notch and I had nothing to fault at all. Will definitely be going back to try out their other mealtime offerings! ( Sorry photos don't actually do it justice as my flash was off and my photo quality was poor!)
W. J.
Went here for Sunday lunch, sat outside was so nice, food was great, polite service. Well worth a visit. Has roast beef and the wife had a nut roast.
G. L.
I cannot find fault with this restaurant. The food was excellent and the staff were attentive but not in your face. I was impressed with the attention to detail, the plates were as I remember in my grandma's farm kitchen. They have even thought of a play area for families. The food is fresh and made to order not fast food. Well done to all....I will be back.
W. L.
Nice decor but if feels too pricey or pompous for what it is. It's just a Mediterranean cafe, ultimately. The food is decent, servers are ok. The decor is nice and very Essex. I wish they made better use of the garden at the back when the weather is nice. The owner / manager is very solicitous. All in all, they try and it's a good venue, but somehow feels it could be more... or less!
c. n.
I am really fussy when it comes to roast dinner and avoid ordering them to avoid disappointment... however I can honestly say that I had the best roast beef dinner that I have ever had!! And I had it delivered to eat at home! I thought that it was a bit pricey until I saw the quality and size of the meal. It was absolutely delicious and I can recommend 100% thank you for my birthday meal!!!
F. D.
Fab family friendly restaurant! Amazing food and great service! Always a pleasure to visit and leave feeling full and happy!

A really nice restaurant that feels snug.
We had the full breakfast and it was really tasty.
Will definitely be back to try their Sunday roast.
L. M.
Me and my husband just adore this place ❤
As for the negative reviews... just buy yourselves a life mates 🤦♀️
Try Gordon's (Ramsay) restaurants, overpriced and with invisible portions, and then dare to complain about the lovely Farmhouse 😉
V.
Excellent place go have your Brunch. Freshly prepared food .
H. C.
Unfortunately outdoor seating will be available for diners from the 17th May, we ordered fish and chips for takeaway and I have to say it's the best cod and chips with mushy pea's Ive had in the area!
A. S.
Excellent food and service! So refreshing for the area. Even had an ice cream from their van! Will defiantly return
P. S.
My favourite place to have breakfast on a day off. Highly recommended Hash and Eggs!
H. L.
One of my current favourites, plenty of parking, locally sourced produce, tasty food, quick service and reasonably priced for the quality, very Hackney Wick and wouldn't be out of place for Hipsters, only thing to make it better would be if it were dog friendly.
S.
Great vibe, amazing food and great service. I happened to drive past here and out of curiosity stopped here today and I'm glad I did. I'll be returning to try some of the other things on the menu.
K. W.
Great food, good service, very friendly, good for families, had several high chairs. Lovely building and a farm shop next door. Not the cheapest, but great quality and worth the cost. Easy parking. My favourite was the coffee, some of the best I have ever had!
Highly recommended.
D. O.
Went to the Farmhouse today and ordered the butter milk chicken burger. It was cooked to perfection and also had the halloumi fries as a side. Even before lockdown I had been going to the Farmhouse and the food was great then but they have stepped up another level. Good portion size too. Food came out quickly too and the service was good. Very impressed. Can't wait to go back.
P. C.
Hi,
Went for Sunday Brunch and the place was already busy at 11.15. Group of 6.
Menu's on being seated.
Considerate table reserved for a baby diner.
Service was disappointing over 20 min wait to order drinks.
Another 15 mins to get drinks and take our food order.
Lots of colleagues standing around but no front of house management and no surprise tables that arrived later had eaten and left before we goot our meals.
That said, when the food arrived it was fabulous.
Suggestion to owners. Sort out your front of house.
No sour grapes.
J. E.
Amazing breakfast; great service and a lovely atmosphere. Highly recommended. £15 per head. We each had a smoothie, latte, french toast with bacon.
J. T.
Eaten at the Farmhouse 7 times and never been disappointed…
Staff are extremely helpful and have a smile even when under pressure…👍
Keep up the good service & quality
m. l.
Very pricey food and small portion. Great location and nice atmosphere but not worth what you pay!
c. g.
Very accommodating we can come for lunch and did not have a reservation but found us a table service was excellent and so was the food will be coming back to try the dinner menu and Sunday lunch
Z.
The food is always fantastic here, with service to match. Relaxed atmosphere with reclaimed furnishings.
It seems to be very child friendly too. Lots of mums with their toddlers around lunch times and plenty of free parking outside.
R. H.
We hadn't booked and it was extremely busy being a bank holiday, however they found us a table. Smoothies fresh and vibrant, hash and eggs very tasty and the Buttermilk chicken burger delicious
R. C.
A great atmosphere and even better food with good portion sizes
The cauliflower fritters even pleased my very picky wife
Served by our wonderful waitress Vicky
M. D.
A very nice retro restaurant blending the slightly older menu with some nice modern meals. The food was freshly cooked so you had to wait for it but not an excessive amount of time. Much better to wait for freshly cooked than have i am afraid brought in food which is then warmed up. Not a large menu but something on it to suit most people. Prices are very competitive and the staff are very good and very friendly. If you are in the area pop in plenty of parking and a nice friendly atmosphere
S. S.
We went for breakfast. Not a lot of staff around but the people that were there were friendly and the service was quick. Even the occasional celebrity visit.
N. R.
Amazing Sunday roast, Great staff, very helpful and quick! Spacious but cosy! Will be back soon!
D. K.
Smoothie 8/10 less ice more smoothy please.
Late 10/10
Hash&Eggs. Loads of patatoes 100% oven baked from frozen very dry but edible. Caremilised onions and spices lovely, steak nice and soft well cooked. Eggs on top x2 cooked to death. All out disappointment on the hashneggs.
Couldnt bother complaining as it would ruin the nice atmosphere.
My wifes order looked amazing though and it was fresh as to be expected.
The staff were super friendly.
I will go back but wont order anything containing patatoes.
J. R.
Had a very very nice sunday lunch. My Family had 4 roast beef lunches with extra veg, Yorkshire puds and roast patties. They all said the meal was superb.
Our 1st meal out as a family since march 2020. Great.
D. C.
Had a lovely breakfast here on Christmas Eve! Would highly recommend.
N. K.
The food and service was great. Friendly staff. Tables were set out so there was lots of space around them. I had a Sunday roast which was delicious and so flavoursome and very filling, but I still ordered a dessert which was well worth the added calorie intake. Would definitely go back again.
J. O.
Beautiful food and fantastic service
I. I.
Great atmosphere, very good food, the service is not great.
C. T.
Came here as it was our wedding anniversary, and it was something different for us. Friendly staff, the food was good not brilliant, would probably go back.
P. C.
What a surprise. The food was very good. The staff where friendly and helpful. Well done. We will be coming back
O. B.
Pretty good experience, good Ambience, fun cocktails, I had the tutti fruti, its gin with elderflower, strawberries and actual cotton candy, you can put as much or little as you'd like in your drink for sweetness!!! Overall, a good time.
M. G.
We popped in on Sunday morning without a reservation and they worked us in on what was a very busy time. Lovely breakfast with excellent service and the venue inside is delightful. Would highly recommend.
P. S.
Booked a table for 7 including 2 children, service was great from the young staff, colouring sheets and crayons for the young ones, the kids food came up first and that gave mum time to sort them out and tucking in, then the adults roasts came together, a mix of beef or chicken and was absolutely gorgeous, desserts were fantastic, the price was brilliant, and will be going back a lot more, 5 stars
r. f.
Cute atmosphere, really enjoyed brunch with my ex wife. Rebecca was a star.
L. S.
Great food even did me my item little gluten free selection
M. K.
We had a take away delivered for 6. Burgers, fish and chips, ribs. Fresh, quality ingredients and cooked to perfection. Will definitely return and would highly recommend. Well done team, keep up the high standards.
R. W.
This was something of a find. I've driven past several times but this time took the plunge. It was great. The wife had chicken and waffles, awesome. I had the burger, epic (great fries!). The 6 year old had chicken skewers sweet pot fries and peas. The chicken had been done on a griddle so had burn lines which for a grown up are fine but a bit too acrid for a 6yo palate. The 3 yo had sausage and mash, two great sausages, peas, and mash. Slight issue in that a child doesn't want overly buttered mash, I get that it's a restaurant so should have a "better than home cooked" standard, but for kids food shouldn't be over processed. This is a minor point as it wasn't as bad as some places we've been. Still 5 stars!
P. B.
First visit to this Restaurant unfortunately not to impressed . Staff very good and attentive . Surroundings could be better , may be a barn but the internal deck's need improvement . The two main meals we ordered were off the menu not a problem but ended up with fish & chips certainly not the best fish I'm afraid , edible but nothing to write home about .3 star's for trying but we won't be going back . Prices in line with similar types of restaurant .
J. D.
Nice. Music a little too loud. Trendy. Food good
H. S.
Just moved to the area, ordered veggie roasts for delivery, food was 10/10 & delivery was on time and efficient. Will definitely be ordering again and looking forward to eating inside the venue when things reopen. Our new local favourite!
l. g.
Great Christmas dinner box tasted lovely and was easy to cook with the instructions
J. A.
Stopped by for a late lunch. Seated straight away and young man serving us was so polite and attentive. Food was wonderful and huge portions which we could not finish. I love the decor and it's a nice cosy atmosphere. Saw they do afternoon tea which I will be doing very soon!
L. A.
Have been here a few times, the food and service is always good. Unfortunately the service was not too great today, they were obviously under staffed and the staff they had needed much more training. I was served a Gin & Tonic without ice or lemon and the tonic was poured for me, completely drowning the Gin. We asked for americano coffees after our meal and it was definitely instant coffee, it was awful and undrinkable !! I have recommended this restaurant to many people from past experiences, but would think twice about recommending it to anyone again. Such a shame because they started out so well and we were quite excited to have such a great place really locally.
G. D.
Slow service this week (waited around 1hr for food) but food was great as usual.
N. J.
Nice lunch. Didn't have some of the ingredients for what we ordered but still pleasant. Slow'ish service but that was fine as in no rush.
Would return without hesitation 🙂
P. W.
Food is fantastic, we had a large group and all opted for the roast rib of beef which was absolutely divine and not just your standard selection of veg, which was a nice change. I’d not had purple carrots before. We were so well fed I couldn’t possible have any dessert so will have to come back soon for one of the home made cakes which looked sublime. The service was very good and were all attentive to our large party.
F. J.
We came to visit today after friends had highly recommended. They weren’t wrong!
From the moment we walked in till the moment we left we were impressed!
The decor gives you a real rustic farmhouse feel with a twist of shoreditch. The roast was just like my mum used to make with a sharing platter of vegetables, brought back some nostalgic memories. I had the lamb and my partner the beef, tender and juicy. Our boys had the kids roast which is a great offering.
It was extremely busy so glad we’d booked in advance, while we waited the boys played in the kids area, excellent idea and kept them entertained until our food arrived.
All round great service and well thought out food. Will be back

After passing several times over the past couple of months we finally decided to stop for breakfast and we weren't disappointed. Great selection of breakfast items and tea served in quirky enamel teapots. Food was very good, especially the bubble and squeak! Staff were very friendly and were happy to help with whatever you needed. I was impressed when a member of staff went to a couple of tables to apologise that their breakfast would take a little longer than usual as the kitchen was a bit backed up due to a large party ordering all at once, rather than the customers having to ask why the wait. In the end it seemed that they didn't have to wait too long. Would definitely recommend this place. Looking forward to trying the lunch and dinner menus.
T. E.
Lovely rustic venue. Had a roast which was very tasty but not hot, just warm.
But still enjoyed. Couldn't be asked to wait.
Just disappointed that once finished, was just half heartedly asked if we wanted anything else? Not would we like to see the dessert menu or would we like coffees or another drink.
So with that decided to get the bill and head home "to finish our meal" could've asked I suppose but that's not our job.
I've been a waitress...silver service, butler service and plated service.
Customer service and satisfaction is paramount and this was lacking somewhat.
Probably just a lack of training or experience.
On a positive note, we would go back as enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and it is a nice old fashioned Farmhouse style restaurant!
Hopefully this was a one off fopar 🤔
M. S.
Nice location. Plenty of parking and the 'farmhouse environment' is very nice. However, despite the food being nice (my wife and I went for breakfast), there were no gluten free options (not difficult these days), the beans were missing from both our breakfasts, the food went cold very quickly (a hot plate would sort this out) and the coffee was served in a glass without a handle - just as well it wasn't hot or I wouldn't have been able to pick it up! It would also have been nice if the staff were a bit more welcoming - perhaps we caught them on a bad day. These are all little things but they all added up. This place has a lot of potential and if they could address these, I would definitely visit again.
A. M.
Nice service, below average food that produce a very expensive bill
P. W.
I visited this restaurant last weekend as a group if 10 people and must say I was disappointed. I had the roast rib of beef and the rest of the party had a mixture of mains off the menu. The food was average and frankly, overpriced. We waited a long time to be served but the waitress was very pleasant, and apologetic about our wait. Even the desserts which we're mainly cold dishes took over half an hour. When we were given the bill they had not deducted the £100 deposit that we had already paid. This restaurant is probably okay for coffee and cake but I will not be dining there again.
A. N.
The food is excellent and the children always look forward to visiting
K. E.
Delicious breakfast dine in and take away. Our take away breakfast today was just as good as dine in, still hot and delivery driver is always so friendly and polite.
A. S.
Was a bit worried after seeing some poor reviews about service but had a fantastic lunch. Obviously you're going to wait a little while for fresh food to be cooked - as it's not a fast food joint or pre cooked and microwaved - and the quality of the meals we had were exceptional. Full of flavour and faultless. I'll certainly be going back and will recommend. And if I have to wait an hour for food then it'll be worth it. Better than being rushed in and out as is usually the case.
S. S.
We booked just 30 minutes before our reservation for Sunday lunch. We were greeted by very friendly efficient staff. It was our first visit to The Farmhouse and we loved it! From the Sunday roast for my husband (he said it was the best beef dinner ever) to the Superfood Salad vegetarian dish for me - everything was great and we will definitely be back soon. Thank you!
A. S.
The food is good when we have eaten here but if you’re going to offer a takeaway service with hour long delivery slots, don’t turn up 20 minutes after the chosen slot and please try to get the order right...However, the customer care and service after this one-off incident has been excellent. There are clearly a couple of teething issues with deliveries which are being rectified and we will certainly be eating here again.
N. J.
Nice lunch. Didn't have some of the ingredients for what we ordered but still pleasant. Slow'ish service but that was fine as in no rush.
Would return without hesitation 🙂
L. M.
One of the best roasts I’ve had out. Fantastic meat and all the sides cooked to perfection. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return.
C. S.
I went on a Sunday morning, a bit of a chaos, being asked by 4 people if they can help me, had almost a sit at a table but left before somebody taking my order.
R. C.
Wonderful breakfast.
M. S.
Brilliant breakfast/brunch options. The steak hash is a personal favourite. They also do a delicious Virgin Mary.
Staff are friendly and parking plentiful.
y. b.
Excellent service, friendly staffing and well designed interior. By far the best veggie breakfast I have had in the area without a doubt. Already booked in to go back.
a. w.
Fantastic great service we will definitely be booking again 😁

Lovely breakfast with quality ingredients... staff so so friendly and helpful, especially Josh who went out of his way to make our visit a good one.
Would definitely recommend.
B. R.
I love this place! Would highly recommend for any mummy’s out there who want to go for some lunch or dinner with the little ones. There’s a play area out the back where you can watch your little ones whilst enjoying some delicious food.
I’ve read some reviews in regards to the waiting time but to be honest it’s very refreshing to visit a restaurant and not be rushed out the door. My little girl was having so much fun that I didn’t take any notice to how long we actually waited for our food, but when the food arrived it was fresh, warm and great value for money.
I’m in big beliver in supporting your local family run businesses and this one really did not disappoint. I can’t wait to come back again with more mummy friends.
A. T.
Really great people. The welcome team and waiters were great. Food was a bit slow but it was a busy day, and we were enjoying time with friends, so no complaints. But the standout for me on the day were the staff.
Z. W.
Love this place, can't get enough! Our Third visit so thought it about time we shared a review. For somewhere different with great food and very attentive staff, this is the place. Lovely decor too, stands out from all the same old food establishments locally. Let the boring haters hate, they clearly don't like change but we welcome it! Thanks, see you soon!
c. w.
The afternoon tea was delicious and a very reasonable price.
K. T. C.
Myself and a few of my colleagues came here for Sunday lunch after we finished a job early.
What an absolute treat it was, we received a very warm welcome from the staff and were seated promptly.
Food was delicious, not a bit was left from any of us. Teresa our hostess was fantastic, extremely courteous, not at all pushy and friendly.
Would strongly recommend.
Best wishes,
The KW team.
G. G.
We discovered this place by chance while walking the london Loop and decided to stop for lunch. Staff was really friendly, food was great, the place really cool and the atmosphere cosy and chilled, exactly what we needed!
Will definitely be back!
L. M.
One of the best roasts I’ve had out. Fantastic meat and all the sides cooked to perfection. The staff were also very friendly and helpful. Can’t wait to return.
D. K.
We’ve been a few times now and every time we’ve been impressed by the quality of food and the fantastic service. Portion sizes are perfect too, leaves you with just enough room for dessert
Having lived in the abbey for a good part of my life I know it’s been screaming out for a place like this! Unfortunately some of the others don’t like change so you’ll no doubt get complainers.
Hats off to the Farmhouse, keep doing what you’re doing. We’ll most definitely be back especially for the roast!
y. b.
Excellent service, friendly staffing and well designed interior. By far the best veggie breakfast I have had in the area without a doubt. Already booked in to go back.
S. W.
We had a fabulous lunch here yesterday. The food was amazing (big portion alert), the service was attentive too (thanks Teresa!) and the place had a really friendly vibe. Will definitely be going back
J. P.
I really want this place to succeed but they need to up their game if they want repeat customers.
They couldn't cope when full at lunchtime and so many potential customers were turned away who might have been seated had the service been quicker and tables emptied.
The food was good but on the lukewarm side and we saw so many people either send food back or ask for missing items.
The staff though friendly need to be more proactive and on the ball.
Also, though I have no problem with children being welcomed, it is not acceptable to have so many children running around. It is not safe and not a good atmosphere. Parents should be asked to keep them under control before accidents happen.
I will try once more, but if nothing's changed sadly I won't return.
C. A.
I went there with my boyfriend last Sunday for brunch.
I don’t understand why people write that the food takes way to long to come out, for me it means that the food is being cocked fresh and if I am in the rush I will go to a fast food restaurant like MacDonalds or Burger King.
I wanted to have some breakfast but as soon as I saw the burgers I instantly changed my mind as they looked just something from heaven!
My boyfriend had Scotch egg for starters and he said that it was basically the best ones he had all his life!
I had the farm house burger and it was just right! Not dry, I have no words to describe it to be honest! Just go to this place! It’s worth it! Also, I am not sure who the gentleman was but we noticed this man on the opposite side of the kitchen, checking every single dish that would come out, you could see that he wanted everything to go to the tables with high standards!
Yes, it is a little bit more expensive but you pay for what you get!
The only thing I would say they should do better would be just to be a little bit quicker when it comes to serve drinks.
I will definitely be back!
S.
Loved it when we went there for lunch. I think it's our family restaurant going forward.
Service was great, food was really good and the staff are very friendly. Our baby loved the kids play area so much she cried when she realised we were leaving.
S. R.
Second time visiting the Farmhouse and the food is scrumcious however a lack of customer service. It's a shame, we had to ask where our drinks were and watched as our waitress realised she hadn't put them through as she got the ticket out of her pocket. She came over but not to apologize but to blame the system they use. However we got our drinks eventually and then had to wait over 40 minutes for our food and once again had to ask for our food, and again no apology on the delay. I can see this isn't the first time someone has wrote about the service on the reviews. Maybe it's time to do a bit of staff training? But once again food is great, can't fault that.
C. G.
Really nice food, with homely atmosphere
A. N.
Really good food. I will surely return. Their squid was really good. I was a bit disappointed by the fish cakes. The seating is a bit haphazard. However overall the experience was great and we had a great meal. Next time I intend to try the roast.
S. B.
I visited the Farmhouse with my parents after doing Gunpowder park parkrun. The breakfasts were excellent with big portions and great sourdough. Loved the flat white served in a glass. There was also a huge amount of parking on site which is a real bonus. Will definitely be back.
L. S.
I was really happy to see some great vegan options. I really enjoyed the vegan hash and cauliflower fritters, the fritters were especially delicious! :)
I'd love to see even more vegan options for a little bit more variety, perhaps even some dishes with vegan meat or cheese.
I'll definitely be returning to try out the bean burger and BBQ jackfruit.
C. S.
I went on a Sunday morning, a bit of a chaos, being asked by 4 people if they can help me, had almost a sit at a table but left before somebody taking my order.

We had our Christmas party here this week and it was amazing! Great food and top service from their wonderful team. So good we came for a roast today!! That was delicious too, happy stomachs all round! Thanks guys, highly recommend
M. D.
Visited a few weeks ago for father's birthday on a Sunday lunchtime. Lovely surroundings and we all enjoyed the food, as well as the beer selection! Kids had a great time running around the play area - we'll definitely be back.
P. B.
Just stopped for lunch. Driven past loads of times but never gone in. The place was full. ALOT of kids so not a quiet lunch. The two young lads on the bar didnt stop good to see how intensely they were cleaning glasses, the chef was up and down organising the staff and sitting people down. Good to see young people working hard. Food was worth the wait.
R. W.
Excellent food & service big portions freshly cooked best chips I've ever had - great for families with small children we were 3 adults plus 3 month old baby - plenty of spaces in the large car park which is always a bonus - bill for 3 plus drinks £50 great value

When we arrived we were sitting under a speaker and politely asked if we can move to another table witch there was one available. To say the music was intrusive is an understatement. After 15 minutes we were told there wasn't a table . had they moved a 15 minutes before, there would have been one. Our request was just ignored. Food was nice but service could have been better.
R. P.
Chingford is desperate for somewhere to be good and this place nearly is. Some healthier food options would be great and overall the place just smells and so sort of tastes of soap? Maybe it was just the day we were there? We will definitely give it another go, but maybe have less fried food...?
Worth a second go and i will report back!
M. S.
Brilliant breakfast/brunch options. The steak hash is a personal favourite. They also do a delicious Virgin Mary. …

We went for a 2pm booking for 2 it wasnt very busy it was a huge place and decor was cool. Staff was friendly but the service took forever it seemed and there was no rush with other customers either. We could see frustrated faces all around and heard a few comments. Anyway I thought initially it was short staffed in the kitchen but when we went to pay for what was a decent lunch but simple its describe as rustic which it is, it turned out they were preparing for a function as well so they were busy with that. I dont think it's good practice to leave customers waiting so long because they're busy with other things get more staff or simply tell people theres a wait before you sit them down so they have a choice to stay or go somewhere else its not the place you want to sit there for ages unfortunately.
T. B.
used the function room with very wobbly tables and very expensive drinks, one beer one cider one shandy and a coffee over £17.00, and they were not even pints.......it was clean and the main bar looked much better, what saved this venue from being bad was the staff, they were friendly helpful and nothing was too much trouble. would like to try the main bar next time.
D. W.
Quick service by pleasant staff and breakfast was very nice
H. J.
Got recommend to go here through my social media guys as they speak very highly of this place. What a wonderful time me and the family had. Child friendly which is rare to find in a restaurant and the kids menu is very well thought through.
Will definitely be returning back with the wife for a date night and to try the cocktails.
P.
Mixed feelings, the first time I visited was very good indeed but my last visit was very disappointing. The service was good but the food was not great the batter on the fish and chips came out very over cooked and was mahogany color, the other dishes were so so. Maybe we were just unlucky
T. W.
Only stopped off for coffee on a Monday which was excellent. I asked for my cappucino extra hot and it was lovely and strong. I actually thought this place was going to be a farm shop and tearoom when they were doing it up which would've been fantastic. I found staff welcoming and helpful. Not sure I would eat here particularly as it did seem a tad on the pricey side, certainly for a lunchtime and the menu wasn't that extensive. I would suggest that to complement the British food theme they could add to the menu with something like liver & bacon, steak & kidney pudding, pork belly. I would've had a piece of cake but there seemed to be a limited selection on the counter, none of which I fancied. Would be happy to pop in for coffee again but I would say it is more of a bistro/eating establishment. Hopefully there will be some outdoor seating in the warmer months and people just wanting a drink won't be taking up space at tables meant for breakfast / lunch diners and would make it dog friendly too. I wish them all the best for the future as it could be a little gem. There isn't a great deal else in the immediate area apart from pubs so it is a welcome addition locally. I just feel it would work better as a tea room / café doing reasonably priced breakfasts, great homemade cakes, snacks and light lunches in the daytime but with more of a bistro / a la carte evening menu. But hey, it's not my project! ;-)
S. L.
Had breakfast this morning, the place has nearly full so expected a wait. Was sat straight away.
Drinks came swiftly, was served by Teresa who was great from the get go.
I had the eggs florentine which was lovely, hollandaise was nice & creamy.
Husband had the hash & eggs, couldnt fault it.
Cant wait to come & try the saturday nights!
j. s.
Nice food, a little pricey but in line with other up market cafe/restaurants. Free parking and nice setting. Service has been a little slow on more than 1 visit. If tea/ coffee was inclusive on prices for full breakfast it'd be a 5 star.
L. W.
Amazing vibes from the second you walk in.
Young & bubbly team which makes a lovely change.
Great menu, I had the roast beef which was cooked perfectly. Gravy was spot on!
My brother had the farmhouse burger. What is that sauce??? My brother hasnt stopped talking about it.
Definitely what im having next time!
Great addition to the area, cant believe its the first time I've been... Not the last thats for sure.
J. W.
Had Sunday lunch there yesterday. There were four in our party. Three ordered beef and one ordered lamb. 2 beef dinners arrived. Bit of a wait and the 3rd beef and 1 lamb dinner arrived. Bit of a wait again and a plate of vegetables arrived. Bit of a wait and the gravy arrived. The vegetables were serve yourself from the large plate. By this time once everyone had served thermselves everything was lukewarm to cold. Despite this the food was tasty. The sticky toffee pudding we had was nice as was the crumble but again was lukewarm. I like my food to be hot. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Maybe the answer to serving the food hot would be to keep all the cooked food in metal heated dishes with hot lights above it while it is being dished up and under hot lights while it is waiting to be delivered to the table . I was debating asking for mine to be zapped in a microwave to hot it up but i think i read somewhere that they didnt use them. Would be a good idea for them to get one for people who like their food hot. All this being said we would go to this restuarant again later in the year and hopefully they will have sorted out how to get the food to the table piping hot.

Gorgeous food and lovely atmosphere.
S. M.
Awesome food and this place is well worth a visit. Second visit with my friends from Bristol who also loved it. The waitress Teresa was very friendly and attentive.
Highly recommended and you won't regret it 🤗😚
B. W.
Fantastic new place at the bottom of the footpath dropping down from the Forest. Great locally reared, freshly cooked, food and excellent craft beer selection. Lovely waitress and barman. Brilliant addition to the Epping Forest pubs and restaurants.
M. W.
My first visit ,and really enjoyed my breakfast. The service was excellent and breakfast was very tasty. I will definitely return.
L. J.
We held our Nan's 90th Birthday meal at Farmhouse andit was lovely. Our waitress Teresa was friendly and so helpful. She made our experience really lovely.
T. S.
Had my engagement party here on Saturday and it was amazing! The food was perfect and the staff were so lovely. I could not have imagined having it anywhere else!
L. L.
Had their Sunday roast today.... beef, yorkshires and all the trimmings. Beef really tasty and from local farm. Atmosphere really nice, a fantastic restoration of the old farmhouse, staff attentive and pleasant. Highly recommend.
A. D.
I have been here a few times now for breakfast, lunch and dinner and have always been impressed with the high quality food and welcoming atmosphere. My fiancé and I went to their special Valentine’s Day Dinner event last night and was blown away by every dish served - sharing board starter of scallops, chicken wings, scotch egg and tomato bruscetta perfect for trying a bit of everything. Our steak main was up there with the likes of Hawksmoor, unbelievable! Didn’t think we’d be able to fit dessert in but always room when there’s chocolate hotpot with melting salted caramel marshmallows wafting past your table. And to top it off they were serving pornstar martinis, what more could a girl ask for! Hoping they will do more of these pop-up events, highly recommend!!
C. H.
Great restaurant, great staff and most importantly great food was recommended by a family member. Cannot complain, definitely recommend to anyone on the look for good food and environment
Hartley
N. E.
Lovely breakfast definitely recommend!
K. Z.
Great place to eat, extremely friendly staff and delicious food.
One downfall there was no gluten free toast and sausages availible but I had other options to choose from.
A. N.
Great food and a friendly atmosphere. Seems to be very popular during the day. Looking forward to trying the dinner menu soon and I believe Sunday roasts are coming soon.
B. O.
Came to the farm house for brunch. Amazing food! Quick service to say how busy the restaurant was. Definitely coming back with more people. Couldn’t possible fault it!
D. S.
Barn style dining room but warm and welcoming. Food was above average but coffee wasn't! Had a 175ml glass of Malbec for £7.50 nice wine, but really £7.50?
S. F.
I went to the farmhouse with a group of friends. The building is in keeping with the local area ,a clue is in the name ! The restaurant is in an old converted barn .with a tasteful bar as you come in .the staff were very pleasant and attentive. The food was good and varied and there was a good selection of drinks .the owner is expanding to form a wedding venue out the back ,and a deli next door .so all in all a good night was had by all in the Essex countryside .thanx farmhouse for a good night out .ps they also do a mean breakfast .
S. A.
Went to try a new shop within The Farmhouse.'The Bearded Butcher'....'fresh meats from Smithfieild Market and lots of organic food ..lovely shop ..great addition to Netherhouse farm ..sadly the restaurant is closed during the covid lockdown ..but when it reopens a lot more people will discover this treasure.
J. m.
Extremely slow service. Its a real shame, the kitchen seem to be well prepared but their waiters let the show down. The chicken burger was tasty but lacked chicken for so much bun.
J. W.
Really stylish venue. Great little play area with bouncy castle etc for small children. Food was delicious. Only complaint was its a bit pricey for what you get.
P. S.
First visit and very impressed. Very tasty food and great service. Very nice atmosphere and will be returning sometime soon.
K. W.
Lovely little place great food helpful friendly staff very nice
C. B.
Brilliant place to eat and they cater to children with their play area. Good place for mums to eat with children. Deserts are absolutely amazing your spoilt for choice.
A. S.
what a fantastic night we had at our daughters engagement last night. thank you so much farmhouse everything was perfect, the food the staff the whole experience, apart from a wobbly table which was rectified straight away.
M. R.
Party of 6 and we tried many dishes from the menu..all were absolutely scrumptious and served promptly. Pleasant staff and lovely atmosphere. Mmmmmm yummy :-)
E. R.
The prices and food are always good, I like their breakfasts. Nice small town location. Occasionally the coffee tastes old from sitting on the warmers, otherwise the coffee is good too.........!!!
I. K.
Beautifuly decorated and usually good food but recently disappointed with some dishes. The opening hours advertised on internet are wrong, been there twice after checking opening hours only to find out they already shut the kitchen. Have asked them to get information updated but still wrong. Very little opening hours on weekends so not a place for people who work full time.
J. J.
What a superb restaurant, on our doorstep. The food was splendid. Went with my partner John. Teresa in particular was lovely and gave an excellent service. Five stars indeed.
J. W.

A. T.
Superb. An oasis of pleasure in an unexpected location. Modern clean great design with an excellent menu and great bar. The service was a bit slow but they were very busy and couldn't have been nicer
l. v.
We went for brunch today, quite allot of family’s with young babies which was lovely to see, we waited quite along time to be offered tea/coffee, our breakfast arrived before the drinks, food was ok,
We left a little disappointed, not quite as fabulous as we would have hoped.

Still an excellent breakfast with a fine quality of sausage. Lovely sour dough toast as well to soak that yolk up with.
