Reviews of Toklas

Everyone knows I eat out a lot - I mean a LOT ! This was the best new restaurant I have been to for a long time, everything was wonderful. The staff were so friendly and efficient, and really knowledgeable, there is clearly a great rapport between the kitchen and the front of house. It was a windy day so we ate inside, which had the feel of a Scandi-barn house - really lovely; however, there is a great terrace outside which I am sure will be packed when the sun comes out. Everything we ate was delicious - no messing about but proper strong tasty well put together food - the sort you want the eat every day. Claire & Alcides are great hosts, and lead a superb team. I loved it and will be back as soon as I can.

First time eating at Toklas, and we loved every single bit. Upon entering the restaurant you immediately notice the modern and well thought decor, which pairs nicely along the nearby artsy 180 Studios. The food is excellent. We had a casual lunch and order some starters and one main each. The fried calamari and mozzarella with puntarelle were to die for, and so were the ravioli with ricotta. The sourdough is also incredibly crunchy and fresh. However, what really made everything special was Toklas’ use of the citruses from the Todolí Foundation. Have you ever had fried lemon peel or raw kumquats that taste like apricots? If the answer is no, you seriously need to a meal at Toklas.

Thanks to the kind waiter today who pointed out the vegan options for me, and the chefs who made the delicious vegan food. My boyfriend has the non-vegan option and also really enjoyed it. The food was really nice and so was the atmosphere.

Really nice and fresh tasting plates. Seasoning is done just right , delicate flavours. Also very good vegetarian options.

Amazingly tasty baked goods. We got a bunch of different things and they were all fantastic. Not too expensive either. Staff were really lovely and helpful.

The design of everything here is incredibly careful and thoughtful - from the chairs to the sound insulation on the ceiling. Maybe one of the few London restaurants where you can hear yourself on a Saturday night!
The service was personable and attentive - and the very reasonably priced food was absolutely delicious (do try the bagna cauda). Cocktails were solid as well and could have had several more. Couldn’t say a bad thing about this place and would love to come back soon.

Amazing new find for foodies. White sourdough is a little pricey but worth it. Maybe lower the oven temp guys! Nice service, great cortado and rice pudding tart. Top notch pastry 😍

Good quality food. Waitresses very helpful and patient with food intolerances. Menu quite small. 5 starters and 5 mains. I would recommend!

Gorgeous restaurant, super efficient staff and DELICIOUS food. Really worth it. Lovely bar with excellent Sangria and other classic cocktails. We came over to celebrate our anniversary and the crew couldn't have been nicer ! We'll be back.

Popped into the bakery - the hazelnut brioche was wonderfully delicious! Staff were friendly and prices reasonable. I look forward to returning.

Gorgeous restaurant- bring on warmer days as the terrace is also beautiful - doesn't feel like you're right in the heart of London. Food was delicious - simple dishes but you can tell the produce is so fresh and everything was beautifully presented.

Lovely staff and food. However there are some small details to be improved. There were fish bones in the crudo, slightly over cooked chips with far too many shorter ends of potatoes, also came up in the bill £1 more expensive than on the menu. In general a comfortable experience but nothing made me go “wow!”Would like to be back for drinks and try their bakes though.

First visit to this recently opened Restaurant and overall a good experience- the menu is eclectic (and quite short- definitely a positive) and the food though a tad pricey is good. Nice ambience, reasonably spaced tables and good service with friendly staff. My only beef is with the wine list with the cheapest White at £28 and Red at £31 (just the one!)- And sticking with the reds there are a couple in the early to mid £40s and then the price escalates..... and of course a 12.5% service charge is added to every bottle...I favour variety and more choice at the entrance and medium range. That apart definitely worth a visit....

Fantastic experience at Toklas – down to earth and friendly service, atmosphere is lovely and the food is amazing. All our dishes were delicious but I must admit that the bread and butter was the star of the show!

Was lucky enough to discover this awesome restaurant and ended up going twice in the same week :) Great ambiance and amazing food (menu changes often so always something new to try). Will be visiting again.

I never thought I'd say this but you gotta get some cuttlefish stew in your life. With chips. Delicious ! And great vibes

Great cocktails and a cool Barbican-Esque mid century / posh school dining-hall vibe. The chicken was excellent and service was great.

Fresh and light food. The lemon sole and mussels were amazing. Topped off with a fantastic chocolate cake.
The restaurant has a large outside terrace to sit and dine. Really lovely setting.

My first time eating here. Restaurant has a modern and simple feel. Staff were warm and inviting. Service excellent.
My wife and I are foody and eat out fairly regularly. The food here is excellent. Simple in description and appearance. But the quality, complexity and depth of flavour is fabulous. Will definitely go back and wouldn't make a special journey to eat here.
Based on this visit I am definitely looking forwards to going back.
