Thoroughly lovely place through and through! My partner and I emailed to reserve a table for a post-wedding meal a few weeks ago. We were offered the entire space and loved the very personal experience we received. The most delicious food and wine and fantastic value for money. The right level of friendly and sincere service. Would highly highly recommend and am very grateful to Madi and Xabi for adding to our day and making it as special as it was.

Spanish tortilla to die for. Absolutely epic indie, local joint. Exactly the kind of place i'd love in my neighourhood – lucky Newington Green folks! Service the right mix of casual and capable. My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed a date here, and I've been back myself for more tortilla and a cold beer. Will be back – with friends

The best meal out we have had in so long - get the tortilla, pork and octopus! And the tart for dessert 🍋

Absolutely delicious food and wine, great service and a great music playlist was an absolute bonus. A local treasure i can’t recommend enough.

What a beautiful place! My first time here and I loved it. Fantastic atmosphere, great service, excellent food & a good wine selection all wrapped up in a cosy ambiance. Will be back very soon as I’m still dreaming of the Croquette de jamons & the almond cake 😋 WOW.

Trangallan is a romantic bohemian restaurant serving rustic tapas dishes in the heart of Newington Green, a must for foodies and lovers!
The menu changes frequently and offers something different from the standard tapas.
Housed inside a former shop, the interiors are homely and welcoming. Outside you will find a few tables and chairs underneath a stripy awning which is perfect for a balmy summer night. Venture inside and it’s an enchanting space filled with vintage furniture. Rustic ladders lean against walls and reclaimed wooden doors are hung behind the bar. Downstairs you’ll find more seating and a place for entertainment.
This is a romantic hotspot!

What was Trangallan has adapted after lockdown and during Covid to slightly change its menu and offer items alongside dining in such as some fresh groceries and a few takeaway lunch options. It still counts with the same excellent cooking, produce and friendly staff.
Homeworkers’ lunch includes a ‘bocata de tortilla’, a freshly made Spanish omelette with padrón peppers in bread (in the photo) or a paella with salad, eat in or takeaway. Menu still offers classic tapas such as croquetas alongside some different specials, and of course sherries and wines. And the tortilla here is still indisputably the best I have ever had (inside or out of Spain)!

Went for Saturday lunch the food was super, really fresh and authentic. The service was so accomodating and friendly. Will definitely be going back.

Stumbled across this place on a walk past Newington Green and had a fabulous sunny weekend lunch with a pal. Every dish was delicious but the tortilla was 👌 we weren't sure about the natural wines but the staff suggested a couple of options which were brilliant! Will definitely be back again soon!

This place is easily one of my favourite restaurants in London. They've reinvented themselves time and time again throughout the toughest of times and kept a smile on their faces. I'm so happy we can now get back in to the restaurant to eat their food. You will be hard pushed to find better tapas for such great value anywhere in London. That tortilla!!! What on earth goes in that aoili??? Oh and please keep that pork dish on the menu. Also make sure you talk to the staff. Their knowledge of food, wine, Spanish history (and some Scottish history) is fantastic. You'll be sure to learn something new.

Tranga never disappoints. The food is absolutely delicious, made with so much care and attention to detail....and imagination. The wine list is short and interesting and they really know their stuff. I'd happily take any of their recommendations. I am so lucky to have it in my neighbourhood, I've been coming here for years. it is one the best things about living in Newington Green. ❤️❤️❤️

Average over priced Spanish food here some good flavours the tar tar, beans and cod are great.
But I just feel like the majority of the menu is missing something what is it
Ah flavour, also the wine was already opened when she Brought it over this is another red flag to me and it did not taste good.
I don't think I will be back

The best of London's restaurant for me. Amazing food and excellent service. Prices are not too expensive. Wooden furnished interior and candles make great atmosphere. If you prefer cosy atmosphere more than luxury,
Highly recommended on special occasions such as anniversary or birthday not only ordinary occasion.

What a wonderful find. Slightly hidden off of Newington green, Tranga is well worth a visit. Helpful staff, great wines and they serve a paella that you do not need to pre order (that is to die for). We will be back

Wonderful food and great value for money
The staff and attentive and knowledgeable
An all round great local eatery

What a delightful Spainish eatery! Exceptional flavours and ingredients alongside warm and friendly staff. The eclectic style of the interior and furnishings add to the overall expereince. Tranga Market doesn't offer the 'Tapas' that us Brits expect but gives you a true and traditioanl taste of the real Spain with their creative twist. Their wines are super tasty too. Highly reccommend.
E. S. P.
Great atmosphere and fantastic tapas food! Definitely to try out!
A. M.
Not often I want Galician/Spanish food outside Galicia/Spain but when I do it has to be Trangallán!
R.
Love the interior!!! The sautéed champignons and hazelnuts is a must try! And a relief that desserts can be not-utterly-sweet :) (Loads of the food is prepared gluten free)
J. A. W.
Amazing food, lovely people and a great atmosphere 👌🏽

Such a hidden gem we have found tonight! The place is gorgeous and the staff very friendly. The food was delicious, particularly the pork “abanico”

Had a spectacular meal here.
Every dish we were served was beautifully presented and utterly delicious.
The service was great, the decor and atmosphere is perfect.
A great place to take friends for some fantastic food.
R. B.
Amaxing food, wine and service. What a treat to have this great restaurant in the local area.

I've dined at this restaurant on multiple occasions now and look forward to visiting again soon. Just about to book and noticed the reviews here so thought I would get involved..Pricey? - yes, worth it though? - hell yes! If you want very good food and a cool menu in London it will usually cost you. Great setting, really cool refurb and decor (I remember the old cafe here years ago, it's amazing how they've changed things). All wines that I have tried have been fantastic, that includes the house red. The octopus is always the main event for me, some very good veg dishes and the meats are very tasty and cooked medium to rear which brings out the taste very well. There's always an explosion of taste and it really is different from any other tapas I have tried. Definitely a place I would recommend you try out. *I agree on the olives though - the terrible large light green ones which I absolutely hate - please change! :-)
B. H.
The best tapas I have ever found in London. Love the decor too, it feels like you are eating at home. Staff are so friendly and the service is excellent, great recommendations from their wine list and the menu is constantly changing so there is always something new to try.
R. E.
This place is amazing!!! Wow every dish was just beyond your expectations!!

We went for my birthday back in July on a beautiful warm Wednesday evening. What can I say except everything was perfect - we were sat outside which was great as it was such a nice evening and there was a great buzz at the front of restaurant. Everything we ordered was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious - padron peppers, ham croquets, traditional tortilla and, the highlight, Jabugo pork tenderloin. Service was faultless and the bottle of Finca Parera, Fosc 2017 was a true delight. Prices are reasonable too! Thank you, we'll be back soon.
K. N.
Tasty food in a lovely setting with great service, we'll be back!
E. S.
Service is ok, but all in all overpriced and inconsistent. Ordered octopus and it was bland and small, only to see an enormous more bbq'd serve go out to two other tables. Hake was great. Pork was good but small. Olives were horrible. Sparkling wine wasn't cold. Probably wouldn't go back.
L. R.
Really top quality ingredients amazing food and great customer service. One of the few places in London where you can actually eat well. You absolutely have to go!
A. W.
Food is incredible here. Some people say small portions/expensive but it is tapas and the best quality ingredients so for me it seems reasonable. Try the tuna, you won’t be disappointed
S. L.
Very good quality food, helpful staff, nice location with lots of bus routes converging close by and London Overground (Canonbury Station) around 10 minutes walk away. The decor is inoffensive, relaxing with a rural feel. The WC and basement dining area are not accessible by wheelchair; the ground floor area can be accessed by wheelchair and there is an automatic WC (20p) across the road in Newington Green but I wouldn't recommend it.
T. C.
Beautiful Spanish food in Newington Green. Also offering a delicious and excellent value takeaway service in lockdown! Highly recommended.
s. a.
Food was actually tasty, but portions vere ridicoulously small and very pricy.
For 15 pounds we had 3 (3!) octopus tentacles, which seems quite overpriced.
Also, we were 4 people and one received her main so much earlier than all the others that she then spent the rest of the dinner looking at other people eating.
A. M.
Fantastic. Our local. Wouldn't change it for the world. Quality food and wine, lovely, lovely service and friendly owners who are involved in the community. Particularly recommend the cheese board, the chacuterie board and the grape mushrooms!!!
m. s.
Recommend by a friend - was not disappointed.
Cosy setting, friendly staff, exciting menu, excellent food and I mean excellent, reasonably priced (for local area) I will definitely go again.
M. W.
I absolutely LOVED this place. Food was innovative in appearance and combination and excellent in taste. Service was friendly and attentive. Decor classy yet relaxed. And the surprise when they brought the bill topped it off nicely. Can't wait to go again. I think it is even better than the mighty Brindisa. AND you can book a table.
M. L.
The best tapas I've had in my life.. I could not recommend this place enough. Amazing decor and atmosphere and the food was incredible. Do yourself a favour and have dinner here.
S. M.
Really wonderful restaurant. My husband and I have enjoyed many a great evening here. The owner is lovely and very knowledgeable about all her produce and wines.
W. R. (.
Excellent tapas in a pretty little setting with higgledy piggledy furniture. The chocolate ganache is excellent, but they don’t have a lot of choice for dessert.
L. H.
Really lovely service and delicious food here, recommend the padron peppers, the tortilla, and definitely the carrot dish!
A. H.
Great atmosphere, great selection of classic tapas options plus vegetarian options as well. Lovely wine and good value.
L. L.
Fantastic food and a wonderful wine list! Time after time they also have flamencos nights, they are fantastic! One of my favourite local restaurants
D. J.
Great intimate dining with small plates / tapas. Great food.
Good wine list.
Lovely waiting staff.
F. M.
Good menu, service can be improved. Kindly arranged a table for us quite late, so that was a bonus. Possibly the reason for service not quite hitting the mark.
C. D.
I've been here 4-5 times and each time it has been 10/10 - fantastic food and drink, lovely people and a beautiful restaurant. Everything, even the green salad, is perfect and delicious
J. G.
Muy excelente. The onglet might have been cooked a bit longer, but the mackerel and el pulpo were brilliant.
Good vibe too.
J. M.
My favourite neighbourhood restaurant. Delicious food, wine and great service with a friendly local vibe
M. &. F. B.
We always have a good time! The atmospher is relax, cozy and makes you feel home. Staff really kind.
The pulpo is amazing!!!
P. A.
Incredible food, great relaxed atmosphere. Probably the best grilled octopus in my life (and I've lived for 6 years in Spain...).
K. M.
Amazing!! The pork dish was probably the best pork I’ve eaten in my life! Octopus was also cooked to perfection!
R. A.
A fantastic find: lovely tapas that changes frequently, a great selection of wine (that you can also buy to take out) and a really great atmosphere. They also have live music on some nights.
T. R.
Really really good, definitely try the tortilla and the pork loin! Will definitely be returning 🥳
A. K.
Food is average yet quite expensive, there are better tapas places in London but probably not in the area. Staff is friendly and the outside seating place got something.
p. b.
Very nice place. Food was superb and staff friendly. On the day we went (Sunday midday) there was live Flamenco music, which was awesome
S. L.
The food is awesome. It's a bit expensive but it's totally worth it! The seared sirloin and the tuna tartare were delicious!
B. P.
This place is perfect. Relaxed atmosphere, great service, incredible food and drink. One of my favourite restaurants in London.
H. W.
Cosy little hidden gem with antique furniture and an eclectic feel. Food was really tasty and staff were incredibly friendly - a little on the pricey side.
E. M.
