Turtle Bay provides a chance to have good drinks and good food for a decent price. The staff were all friendly and helpful. Unfortunately when I went they some items on the menu where unavailable, which were the ones I wanted, so I went with the staff recommendation of the katsu Curry. It was good but not the curry goat I had wanted. The cocktails where stronger than other locations and not watered down. Overall you should definitely be going to turtle Bay Walthamstow for good food good drinks and good music.

Went there for bottomless brunch and the drinks were AMAZING! They're entire cocktail menu is included which no other restaurants do. The only down side is that it takes about 15 minutes for each cocktail to arrive, so you might not get your moneys worth, they do however, allow you to make a last order 15 minutes before your slot is over. The food is okay. Turtle bay isn't known for great food, so my expectations weren't high. I would go there again

We stop for a 2-4-1 cocktail deal walking by. Well done. Cocktails are amazing and price is even better!!! We try some starter too and it was just an explosion of flavours, super. Some portion are a bit small portion (vegan one) . Ribs and prawns are a must try. Delicious!! Very good and friendly staff, extra helpful to deal with allergy issue. We will be back 100% anytime we can. This place has a good vibe, good food, good drinks, lots of light, colors and good music. We found more than what we could expext. Will be back for sure and will suggest to anyone in the area

First off, Leah who served us was great, she was welcoming, made sure we had a good time and was very helpful. We enjoyed the bottomless brunch, but wasn’t so keen on the food even though we upgraded the menu. However, the cocktails was amazing. I’ll defiantly be back to enjoy more cocktails.

A very lovely atmosphere. I'll be honest, I didn't expect such a large place for a Caribbean restaurant. The food was very tasty, definitely too salty for me to come here all the time, but still full of flavour. I really enjoyed the goat meat and goat curry. The watermelon slushie was exquisite, no faults with that at all. All in all, I recommend this place for Caribbean food lovers.

Really good vegan options. I ordered tofu and left SO FULL. Kind service too. Waitress was friendly and professional, happy to give us advice on food, knew the menu well. Overall it was a great experience. I'll definitely come back :)

The cocktail deals for turtle bay are amazing! However, I can’t give turtle bay five stars as the food didn’t meet my expectations. The flavouring of the jerk chicken was not right and as someone who cooks Caribbean food at home and visits other restaurants in London it does not compare - as it was bland. I tried the vegetarian dishes which were a lot more promising , some nice spices and flavours!The bottomless brunch is ok and a good deal but you can only order one drink at a time and it does take around 10-15minutes for them to prepare a drink, which left me without a drink for my meal. Also when we did arrive we had to wait over 15 minutes for our table because they were running late. I think it’s better to visit with friends and family :) !

I like the food - it's something different and quite tasty, though I might not visit this particular Turtle Bay branch again. If I was doing a review for Hannah - who was the lovely Turtle Bay team member assisting us this weekend, I would be giving 5+ stars. She was absolutely awesome - so calm, polite, professional and kept her cool under pressure. We were a large group of Brunchers so had many demands as a group. The restaurant was clearly understaffed and hadn't resourced up for the number of bookings they had, but Hannah did an excellent job at keeping everything going. Unfortunately, because we had a few issues, I can only give the venue 3 stars. Some of the other members of staff though - I am not sure hospitality is really their thing, as they were not very hospitable, and looked like they were allergic to a smile, or just general politeness. We went for brunch for my sister's 21st birthday - there were a lot of mix ups - they only took half the orders, then starters arrived after mains, half the table had finished their food when others had not received any food yet, and things were on the bill that weren't ordered / didn't arrive. Overall, an average experience, that would have been a very poor experience had it not been for Hannah. Thanks Hannah! Andri

3 stars because 2for1 on the drinks was fantastic, the waitress and staff were very tentative. 0 stars for the food. That is not a wrapped roti, that's just a wrap. A wrapped roti doesn't have lettuce in it. The jerk chicken wings didn't taste anything like jerk chicken. Don't go for the food, go for the drinks

I came here on Saturday night and it was busy with a nice lively feel. People complain a lot about the service on google reviews but it wasn’t bad. The lady serving our table and everyone else we interacted with were lovely. I ordered the jerk chicken with rice and beans and it was extremely mild and bland. I don’t think you would know it was jerk unless you were explicitly told. It was more like plan roast chicken and rice. The curry chips were great but the portion was tiny- smallest I’ve ever seen charged for at a restaurant. We got the mac and cheese too which was pretty good. The non-alcoholic spritz was super fresh and tasty but I wasn’t crazy about the zombie cocktail but it’s not something I’d usually order anyway. It tasted a bit synthetic. Some of the other cocktails looked great though and if you make it for happy hour then I think it’s a good shout for a group of pals.

I visited this eatery and bought a takeaway. This was my first time coming here and I had high hopes, especially when I got home and took the items out of the takeaway bag. The food came in lovely packaging and was the presentation of the food was very good, unfortunately the overall taste let it down :( It's supposed to be a taste of the Caribbean. I understand a need to cater for various palettes but there was no spice to the food so everything was pretty bland. The best thing was the plantain. I also ordered jerk chicken which was advertised as having a sauce and a slice of watermelon, which was missing.

To start off with the gentleman at the door was superb. He informed us articulately about the safeguarding procedures now put into place, direction for sanitisation and how to order. That was very pleasing and I didn't get his name but highly commendable. The service was then incredibly slow...took 30mins before we were able to be served and with an 1hr and 30 min clock on the table it was a waste of good time. Drinks were nice and happy hour was good- I'd definitely get drinks from there again... Slight downer...my friend wasn't well (because of personal issues), unfortunately she was sick on the floor under the table (couldn't make it to the toilet unfortunately as it was so far away) and was told by the floor manager that she should handle her drink better...undeserved and inconsiderate in my opinion! She wasn't a drunken mess, didn't act disorderly and we spent a good amount on the table. The last thing that she needed was being told by the manager that she needed to handle her drink better- that was a massive let down. However, the waitress that attended our table, even though she should've been off and clearly came in to support her team was very lovely and considerate ensuring we were all good and well! I just feel that in the industry they're in they should keep their personal opinions out of the ear shot of customers that was disappointing. However, all the other waiters were pleasant enough and well mannered! I might go to a different branch, but unlikely to go back to this branch with such harsh judgement!

Turtle Bay is a vibrant welcoming Caribbean style bar and restaurant that serve a wide range of great tasting dishes and cocktails. We had a great time here! The staff are very nice and accommodating as were the chefs. Booking online was easy and the reminder emails useful too. There were just a couple of things which affected our experience here. The attention to detail would make the difference. The first was parking. It is an absolute nightmare to find parking that isn’t for residents only nearby. A warning, or parking advice on the email/website would be a good idea. Secondly, our table was sticky as it hadn’t been cleaned properly along with receiving dirty glasses. These things can be easily rectified. We had a great time and I’d recommend this place.

If I'm to be honest this is not the place to go for authentic Caribbean food, it's not horrible, some of the dishes are really tasty but it's just not Caribbean food. With that said, the staff are 2nd to none 🙂 ALL of them treated us with respect, they were friendly and accommodating. We ordered the panko coconut milk calamari and sweet potato fritters for starter, both looked and tasted amazing! The mains however left a little wanting. We ordered the salmon steak ( with salad ) and the No Moo burger ,both portions were a little small and and the vegan burger wasn't as good as we had hoped. The starters and the lovely waiter really made up for the lacking mains. Definitely order sides if you're getting either of these mains!

I hear a lot of negative things about Turtle Bay but its because people have this warped expectation that they are going to their friend's Jamaican granny's house. If you are looking for authentic Caribbean food don't even bother go in, you need to take that 9 hour flight to the caribbean islands. It is was it is and its great to me.

I'm goin to review the features and services within this restaurant and then give my overall review. Starting with: *Food* - There's alot of variety in terms of the food choices from the menu and the presentation always looks very pleasing to the eye. I found the food I ordered to be very tasty, especially the plantain side as it compliments the flavours alongside the main very well. I'd give the taste a 4/5 as I honestly really enjoyed it. *Queue speed* - When I arrived at the restaurant I didn't have to queue at all - which was a pleasant surprise. This was also complimented by how generously spacious the place is inside. *Sitting space* - The sitting spaces are really nice in comparison to most restaurants I've been at. The chairs and table locations are good and aren't too close together. The upstairs sitting area was also free for use and alot more chilly if you prefer lower temp settings. *Lighting* - The lighting in this restaurant is pretty dim, but it does add to the atmosphere and makes sense given this context. I will admit though that it does make taking pictures hard on older phones. But overall I quite like it because it's different from some overly bright restaurants and makes it feel unique. *Atmosphere* - The atmosphere inside is nice and chill with a good vibe to it. The restaurant is very pleasing to look at inside and out which is really nice. I personally really enjoyed the music selection they had going on - it was pretty on point. *Customer service* - The customer service in this restaurant was really good and was essentially what made me decide to try out this place in the first hand. *Hygiene* - The whole restaurant was tidy, clean and in good condition. Even the toilets were well kept which is well worth mentioning. *Summary* - Overall I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who hasn't already tried it out. I have nothing but praises to sing for it and I'm sure you will too.

very authentic Jamaican food and drink place. Outdoor seating area too. Went here on a nice sunny day on a Friday. Served by a friendly waiter. Seated and given the menu on time. They have 2 for the price of 1 offer for beverages during the daytime. Food in menu includes burgers seafood etc. Drinks include Jamaican famous rum and cocktails, beer and other general non alcoholic beverages. Food is also a good affirdable price too. I ordered Prawns and they came with a bread in sauce. Very tender and juicy, well seasoned too. I have attached some pics of what i ordered when i was there with family members. There was 3 of us and we got two drinks each and one main meal each. It was around 50£ or 60£ if i remember correctly. I would recommend this place if looking for something different. They have the island vibes. Good music too. Interior decor compliments the Jamaican theme.

This is a compromise score as our waiter by himself would have been worth 5*, however the rest of the service was dreadful. To begin with three or four items on the menu were off (this was early on a Sunday evening) due to an unexpected rush the day before, to go on with the child's meal (a cheeseburger) came last and lacking any garnish and even the cheese, to go still further the food took about an hour to arrive from the kitchen, and to finish the portions were mean (one piece of plantain with the curry goat and small spoonsfull of coleslaw were the lowlights). The food itself was generally quite good, particular mention should be made of the puddings which were excellent, however should we go again then it will probably be to see if the Ealing branch is any better...

Fries and coleslaw were amazing (as amazing as they can get), both are spicy. Had the pulled pork toastie. Nice for the price, lacked a wow factor for me however. Also had the prawns as an appetizer as advised by the waitress. Now the prawns I was disappointed with (as a lover of all crustaceans, shelled and unshelled), flavour was definitely lacking for me. Cocktails were overpriced, to me, taking into consideration the area, amount etc however not an unbearable price during happy hour. Now I'm unsure whether our seating arrangement put us at a disadvantage but service was also lacking, wasn't prompt at all. Servers tend to be very nonchalant and laid-back. Even upon arrival there was no particular system in place for greeting guests. I will say, the chef was lovely and extremely attentive and honestly was probably most prepared of all the staff.

While you're only allowed to eat outside I'd say this isn't the best spot. There's very loud traffic right nearby, the heaters aren't very powerful and there are people preaching and yelling nearby. That being said, it was never dull, and the staff were doing their utmost to still make it a good experience. The staff were super friendly, but payments now have to be made whenever you add to the bill (which is weird, don't know why and also makes giving a tip difficult as you usually do that after your meal). I didn't really enjoy the food, but the cocktails were good and I liked the rum selection option, I probably won't go back until dining inside is allowed.

So my friend and I decided to take my mother and her friend to turtle bay since they had never been before, and we had such a good experience (minus the food) in Sheffield. We found as Caribbean descendants the food doesn't reflect what we would expect authentic food to taste like, but the cocktails are fantastic. However as we went for the bottleless brunch we weren't too bothered as there are many places you could grab a bite to eat, especially if you get your money's worth in cocktails, which is what we intended to do. Well, by the time we were served our food (45 mins being there) we had been served one drink which went down in under a minute. 1 hour and 15 minutes in, we were sitting there parched, waiting for our 3rd drink. We started to get aggravated as we could see our waitress having casual conversations with her fellow employees and serving the couple next to us about 3 or 4 drinks each per round we had. Meanwhile, another waiter, Jordan, overheard us, saw we had been waiting for a long time and promptly came over to us, to see what he could do. Well, he made our drinks, plus catchup drinks, which we appreciated greatly. Throughout the remainder of our time there we were properly looked after, served at a reasonable speed, and he also was very attentive when we asked for recommendations. At this point, we were finally enjoying our time there and got our money's worth in amazing cocktails. I especially recommend the Bahama Mama and the Mai Tais. Overall we believe Jordan (who my friend said "was an absolute God") deserves a promotion as he single-handedly saved our night by helping me and my friend give my mum and her friend a fantastic night as they aren't able to go out often with their busy schedules. We were genuinely impressed with his service and would recommend coming here on the promise that he is working, or the other employees are as attentive as him.

It was our first time in Turtle Bay. We didn't book a table. We just walked in and had to wait for a couple of minutes to get a table to sit since all were fully booked. The staff were friendly and quick in serving. The food was tasty- especially the calamari and the burger. The 2 for 1 cocktails 🍸 were also good as we got to choose between vodka & rum.

I had breakfast on Saturday. Ordered avocado bread ( which was cold like a pita rounded bread ) whith poached eggs which was a bit jelly and when I break them you can see it was a little bit under cooked. Coffee was like a tea... but the most interesting fact that it was at least 5 waitresses buy it took 15min to pay my bill because only one was taking the orders and served all the tables. Come on guys you are at work do your job not laugh with each other and don't care about customer who pays £10 for crappie breakfast. Service is terrible not coming back here again .. 😒

Cheap drinks, pretty decent menu of standard quality rums, some good mixes. Punch well done on the rum base but lacking profile on the fruit & tanginess. Not your bar if you know your rum well or are into aged rum, or looking for rum not coming from English speaking Caribbean, like a Haitian or Cuban rum. Also syrup is not really a replacement for fruit in daiquiris even if it's a 2-4-1... Up to 20 mins serving times, slight chaos on the tills/billing for our group, wrong shots brought out twice in a row, and then told that the bar had closed and would not be correcting the order again, while oddly orders continued to be served at other tables. Head waiter bordering on the unfriendly & didn't come across as being happy to be back at work. Security staff strict but ultimately reasonable. Go for the cheap drinks but bring your own vibe and have a plan for later on. If you're quality over quantity, go somewhere else.

Yesterday I took my boyfriend to turtle bay for the 1st time and it was a very enjoyable experience. And although she was not our waitress this time, Leah has been a brilliant waitress to me in the past, she's served me a few times before and she really makes the experience so lively and fun. Even yesterday Leah still took the time to check in on us (even though we weren't her table) and I saw her doing that for others as well, she went above and beyond and I can't compliment her services enough.

I like the brunch offer with unlimited cocktails but maybe too many people have brunch at the same time because it takes a while for your drinks to arrive at your table and you have to wait for a server to arrive to make your drinks order (which can also take a while). Also the portion sizes of the meals don't reflect the price so eat before you go. Otherwise, it's one of the pricer brunches on the market but it's a nice easy location to get to and a nice social atmosphere. Toilets should be cleaned more regularly too!

The restaurant has a nice vibe and great music. However the whole experience was a let down for us as we were made to wait for a table (that we had booked ahead) and then once seated and after ordering starter and mains our starter arrived quickly. So far so good, however the main course took over an hour to arrive, yes over an hour! We asked when it would be brought over to be told several times that we were next, oh and then others who arrived after us were served and again we were told we were next. Hmmmm..... We complained and was told we were not the only ones in this situation and offered a free drink. We said no we want our meal, which then arrived, finally. We were offered a free dessert as we turned down a free drink each. All in all the food is ok, nothing really special, the communication is terrible but it wasn't the servers fault and we just felt bad for them as the management of the restaurant/kitchen staff issues obviously needed looking in to. We were at the restaurant for more than 2 hours which by that time our parking fee had doubled through no fault of our own. Disappointed ☹️

This is one of my fave places to go. The layout of the restaurant is pretty with lights and good music with a large bar in the middle just for drinks. The food is A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!! I recommend the goat curry which comes with coconut rice, plantain, dumplings and a delicious salad. The cocktails are delicious especially raspberry reggae and is 2-4-1 for a large amount of the day! In terms of food, it is delicious, but staff can be too slow... We had dinner once before our movie (Empire Cinema is right next door) and were late for the screening just because of how long it took them to bring our bill and then let us pay... My recommendation is that, if you go, go for drinks and sit at the bar.

I enjoyed my meal with my husband at turtle bay but it was a bit of a mixed bag over all. Plus side: we were seated quickly, staff were friendly and service attentive. My curry goat was tasty and large enough with really hot fresh dumplings. My daughter had a burger with a big salad, both of which wholesome and not stingy. Downsides: husbands jerk chicken breast plate with rice and peas and slaw was a pretty weak effort, nit much rice or slaw. The floor is filthy and the grooves in the tabletops really filthy too. I know they try to create a beach hut atmosphere but I felt grime was going a bit far. Music was too loud, esp for a family meal at 6pm, but we enjoyed the choice of music itself. All in all, it was a nice meal out but could have been better with a few tweaks and attention to hygiene. I felt the value for money was reasonable for what we got.

I didn't mind as much but when I needed something it got frustrating. I had to get up to go get thier attention in order to get the bill and then to even pay for it. Apart from that the food is great and they could do with less ice in the cocktails.

The decor and overall atmosphere is great, lively and colourful with a touch of decadence. The customer service is good, however .........slow.. The rum cocktails taste good, however the amount of ice added quickly turns a good cocktail into a watered down version of the original. The food is definitely NOT authentic Caribbean cuisine, more Jamie Oliver style cooking - trying to replicate something that does not quite turn out how it should BUT, for those who are not originally from the Caribbean or at least have not tasted authentic home cooked Caribbean food then they will be fooled into thinking that each dish on the menu is authentically Caribbean. The portions are disappointing especially the platters...£14 for a wooden block consisting of a variety/samples of some of the starters - a small piece of I think they call it, a beef patty (very sloppy and under cooked) , 3 small chicken wings (over cooked), 4 small pieces of overly dressed ribs, 4 small sweetcorn fritters (very doughy and tasteless), some type of chickpea salad and 3-4 small fried dumplings (doughy, tasteless and under cooked).. all for £14...... The main courses, Chick pea and callaloo stew with plain white rice and some flat bread??? (very bland and in need of some herbs...seasoning perhaps?) The curry goat with rice n peas...again, bland and somewhat tasteless...and the brown stew chicken.....well, lets just say overall I am not sure if the head chef is an authentic Caribbean or from the school of Jamie Oliver....but either way, I think he/she needs to call a friend. I wouldn't say this is the Caribbean way...perhaps the way of the owners trying to recreate something they once experienced while in the Caribbean on holiday and turning it into something that may seem authentic in their perception....but in reality is not. Drinks - go for the Happy Hour. Food - go to your mum's,grans or the nearest Caribbean takeaway.

Our waiter, Ryckie, was amazing. The food was mostly wonderful. The speed of the service was terrible; they weren't all that busy but they were ridiculously understaffed and the kitchen was clearly very slow and sloppy. The food took at least 40 minutes to arrive, the single child's meal was incorrect, dry and very unappetising. It was corrected but this caused another delay. If we hadn't had such a sweet and engaging waiter we would have been much more unhappy in general. As a side note, it was also almost embarrassing as to how many of our first choices from the menu had run out. Given we had booked an early evening table, this was very irritating. Clearly not a good idea to go on a Sunday at all.

Nice staff, drinks are of course buy one get one free which makes me to there most of the time. But be cautious. Since opening they pour less and less alcohol to the cocktails. My fav is Ting Wray! Food is tasty but same as with drinks portions got smaller since opening. Best value is probably whole jerk chicken. Music is a GREAT addition to the place. Always good.

I love this place, the food is good and the 'One Love' cocktails are potent although the last time I visited, they made the cocktail slightly different (too sweet/less alcohol) which was noticeable which I asked them to change which they did without any fuss. It is one of my regular haunts.

I went to Turtle Bay tonight for a friend's Birthday and was a bit sceptical due to the reviews posted but decided to keep an open mind. The ambience with the lights and music is nice, although a tad bit too dark especially if you want to take pictures if you're out with friends, you will need to use the flash. I ordered the Curry Goat and Roti Flatbread. The curry goat, although authentic looking, was not 100%. It tasted a bit pepperish and I couldn't taste scotch bonnet or the meaty taste and the potatoes were only JUST cooked and not soft. So all in all okay but not like Curry Goat from West Indian Takeaway. The Roti Flatbread in all honesty looked like little chopped up pieces of Pitta Bread. I was expect FLAT FLAKY FLAT BREAD lol. Drinks is interesting. So as someone who doesn't drink, I found it surprising that there are no SOFT DRINKS like your usual Diet Coke/Fanta Sprite or juices etc just Coolers. Not even TING which is a popular Caribbean soft drink. As for the toilets. I walked past the Ladies it was so dark and when I did go in my goodness, they want you to do your business in the dark? The toilet doesn't need ambience. I almost couldn't see when I closed the door, that's how dark it was. There were FOUR toilets, all of which ONE was in use. One - the door wouldn't close, two - someone was sick and three had a out of service sign on the door so that's an area that needs to be improved on. Service wise, our waitress was nice and ethusiastic but drinks took a while to come. All in all, decent experience but if you want an authentic Caribbean meal you'd be better off going to Tottenham/Brixton somewhere which has authentic Carribean Takeaway where you get more for your money and real flavours of the Island.
