What a find! Such an intimate atmosphere, it’s like you’re being cooked for personally. Food was delicious from start to finish with fantastically chosen wines to pair. We thanked the owner/chef after, who prepared everything as a one man band, and he was delighted. Loves his craft and it shows through the food.
Cannot recommend enough

Amazing! Love the service and the food was something else! Highly recommend croquettes, artichoques and the pasta. They have a very good collection of wine. Will come again for sure ❤️

Wonderful discovery! Vins was start to finish an amazing dining experience! Very relaxed, with outdoor seating as well. The service was impeccable with four courses of bliss. Each week is a new menu and all courses were out of this world delicious, prepared to perfection, with a great wine choice. We're so happy to have found and will be back! Highly recommend!

Always a joy to eat at Vins. The atmosphere is intimate and stylish, the food is delicious and nicely presented. The service is friendly and welcoming. A really lovely local gem. We are lucky to have Vins in our neighbourhood.

One of mine and my boyfriend's fave restaurants. Perfect for date night or with friends or family. In these strange times supper at Vins feels like a genuine comfort.

Food was a little lacklustre, and took forever to arrive. Multiple mix ups with our order (they brought a carafe of the wrong wine at one point). Steak was far too salty.
At £130 for two people we were very disappointed.

5 stars for the ambience
4 stars for the service
3 stars for the food
2 stars for the price
Pretty disappointed by this restaurant. For 2 people, our bill was £121 = 2 3-course dinners, 4 glasses of wine + a mandatory 12.5% service fee. All of which I think is ludicrous for the quality of food that came out, and I'm a little sad as there was only 1 chef in the semi-open kitchen area (also the owner I was told) - & I really enjoy supporting small businesses.
Issues:
- for the 3 course meal, you can't choose the 1st course - it must be the antipasto
- unfortunately the antipasto was very basic crudite & over salted crisps. At £38 for 3 courses, I expected a bit more.
- the primi course came out luke-warm for both of us. my fettucini with salted ricotta was very bland (you'd make better at home), though the pasta clearly tasted homemade.
Pros:
- the fish cakes secondi were delicious
- unfortunately my partner found the skin on the porchetta too hard/over crisped, so he didn't eat it. And the potatoes it came with were just steamed/salted potatoes - no sauce, not much flavour.
- the chianti red wine was delicious at £8/glass
For the amount we paid and such a limited menu (only 2 choices per course, and 1 choice for desser), I'd expect pretty good execution. Unfortunately we felt like we wasted our money and appetite yesterday evening.

Fabulous intimate and cozy atmosphere! Good wine selection (I would add more by glass/carafe options though). Seasonal menu with small plates and lots of veggie options. Vins is a perfect caring host! My five stars are specifically related to atmosphere and service, food can be improved (artichokes and pork belly really good though). Try is out!

Food is very tasty, it can be simple, refined and comfortable: little choice but for every need. Loved the cracker from fried sour dough bread. The staff is friendly, competent and accommodating.

Welcoming and warm atmosphere. Not overcrowded. We had st. Patrick's days special - roasted chicken! Which is delicious. The taste is mouth watering and amazingly goes well with glass of red wine!

A small and elegant restaurant. Staffs are very friendly and accommodating. Starters (nibbles) of this restaurant are super delicious and tasty wines. Outside tables in a sunny day with nibbles and wine, would be a great date!

Had a gorgeous night at Vins again! Always hugely welcoming & remembered the wine I love - each course was delicious, especially the light as a feather Tiramisu. Can’t wait to come back!

My girlfriend booked a table for two at 6.30. We arrived a little early and were seated outside. We were told - in person and via email - that we only had the table until 7.55 which was fine. Unfortunately, our main meal took well over an hour and a quarter to arrive (we both ordered Tagliatelle - which we didn't think would take long to cook - at around 6.40).
We got to 'keep' the table, which wasn't a big deal, but we were more frustrated with the wait and the lack of explanation regarding the delay. Normally, if this happens in a restaurant, you are offered an explanation and/or a complimentary drink or snack while you wait. (For example, we recently dined in the Flying Frenchman, and their oven broke, but we were told what had happened and given a drink to apologise for the wait). We can only assume that the kitchen were short-staffed and/or overwhelmed at how busy it was.
There is an impressive wine list but the mark-up is quite excessive. Many wines on the list retail for £10-14 but were being sold for £30-40 for a carafe or £40-50 for the bottle. I know this is standard practice but it seemed a bit more than many other restaurants I've dined in in London. The sparkling wine we had was very nice though.
Despite this, the service was very friendly and the food was delicious. We had the fried potatoes (which were actually more like crisps) and aioli for a starter and a very fine chocolate torte for dessert as well as the belated pasta.

My sister hired Vins for her wedding reception in May. The service was exceptional. The food was DELICIOUS. They catered for everyone. Nothing was too much hassle. It felt personal, intimate and utterly perfect for a small wedding. We can't wait to come back. Thanks Vin x

Great service and atmosphere, the perfect local spot.

Small but really on point - great seasonal food and an excellent selection of wines

Splendid place! I was there early on when they had just opened and they really impressed me with their creative offerings, personal service and fair pricing. So of course I’ve been back. Definitely the kind of place that deserves frequent repeat visits. And to top it all, you can even drop in for a bottle of wine to take home and enjoy there. Vin’s selection is outstanding.

Definitely my new favourite - I ended up going three days in a row. Very cosy (it's tiny), very friendly, very good food, although there is a definite theme to it which I can't quite put my finger on, so you will either like it or not. I do. Menu is quite short too, which is fine by me, as far as I am concerned long menus means lots of freezing and microwaves. I like my food fresh. It's clearly aimed at being a wine bar rather than a restaurant, which may explain the relatively small but entirely adequate portions and the very reasonable pricing. However, it may not want to be a restaurant, but it is one, and an excellent one at that.
I'll be going there again on my next trip to the UK.
I'll book, which is apparently advisable, although we just rocked up and got lucky.

Vinnie was pleasant, friendly, enthusiastic, and attentive.
Jerusalem artichoke chips are my new favorite thing on earth.
The pork tenderloin with vegetables was wonderful.
Cheesecake with sliced blueberry was just the thing to finish.
Just go here. It's lovely.

Fantastic place with a excellent host and owner in the form of Vinny. The wine selection is carefully curated, we had the (only) champagne and were not disappointed. The food selection is modest but the dishes we selected were all excellent and we'll balanced in flavour.

The best wine bar in the area and further. The food is amazing and the owner a delight providing great service with a smile.
A fabulous place to languish on a warm evening on the pavement or be cosy inside.
Great wine recommendations provided too!
A must place to visit even if you’re not from the vicinity.

A celebration of seasonal vegetables. Not a vegetarian resto, but there was only two dishes with meat. Completely surprised by how blown away I was with the food.
Also the service was impeccable; very friendly. I will come back with friends.

Fantastic find. Wonderful food -- great meats, excellent fishes and superb starters and deserts. And even though the wine is "natural", the three wines we had were all outstanding. Not in an area full of restaurants -- but literally 30 seconds from the train station, so super easy to find and visit. So even though it's not in Hampstead or Islington or Queens Park, it's incredibly easy to get to ... and we're lucky that we can therefore treat this Canonbury as a "local" place even if on paper it may not seem so. We will be back (especially once they add a great chocolate desert)

Excellent food. Brilliant wine list, including some real gems by the glass. Incredibly friendly staff. This place is well worth several visits!

The menu doesn’t have a lot of options BUT every single thing was delicious. We literally ordered the whole menu. The ambience is great too for a long dinner (my friends and I sat for four hours). I will definitely go back!!!

What a lovely surprise! Food was delicious, the wine excellent and the staff friendly. The place is beautifully decorated, perfect for a romantic night out ;-)

Food was all fabulous. It was a little busy when we visited on Saturday night so our main course was quite delayed. However the management ensured that this did not marr our overall experience so that we will definitely return 😀

🍷 One of the best new wine restaurants in Islington. My favourite white wine: "Le Droit Chenin; Chinon Domaine Lambert 2017 Loire, France. Chenin blanc. Everything you want in a great chenin blanc from the Loire valley - a clean, dry, structured wine with great minerality and an engaging texture."

I've been here three times now - once with a friend, then twice with family. The food is excellent, the atmosphere intimate and the service friendly. I strongly recommend it!

Odd little gem but well worth a visit

Such attention to detail has been paid in terms of the food, service and decor. 100% recommend this place! Apparently it's only been open 9 weeks and there was already a real buzz about the place. I reckon it won't be long before it's rammed.
