Reviews of Wahaca Covent Garden
N. C. H.
Well… Being American, we assume we have the best tacos, because of course America is intertwined beautifully with its Mexican and Hispanic neighbors and their contributions as Americans themselves to a thriving food culture… I was surprised to find the tacos at Wahaca to be so darn good!!! It’s definitely not “traditional” and that’s fine, it’s the modern age; it ought not to be. The melody of flavours in the tacos here are gorgeous! The decor and aesthetic of the space, it’s all charming enough and gritty enough. Maybe a bit too “hip” for its own good, but tame enough to not feel out of place amongst the air of cool vibes… I went to better restaurants while visiting London but tacos are hardly a five star 3 course. This is mostly as good as it gets without being a taco truck on the side of the road in the Yucatán… Drinks are watered down, totally needs to be more generous for the price, it’s quite obviously a money maker for them, and that’s a shame. Don’t believe me drink a few and walk a straight line outside. I’ve been 3 times to substantiate this! Cheers…

This is a great Mexican restaurant with super friendly staff and fabulous food! There is a lift down to the basement level where the main restaurant is, which is a great addition for accessibility, however the doors downstairs don't open automatically and as there is no space to turn around in the lift, it was very awkward for me to get into the main restaurant in my wheelchair. Other than that though, we had a great experience. The staff were lovely, helpfully showing me to the accessible bathroom and discussing the vegan menu with us. The drinks were also amazing! 🍹

Great Mexican street food with lovely staff. We hadnt booked a table just walked right in on a saturday afternoon. Got a table right away in a nice spot. Aide was amazing, very friendly, she walked us through the menu and ensured all allergies were considered. Food came out very quickly and it was amazing. All in all we all had an amazing time. Definitely recommend it
E. E.
It's was the best culinary experience I've ever had. Food was so delicious! Waitress was very helpful, she explained everything about restaurant and cuisine.
I'll definitely visit you again. ❤️

This place is amazing. We went there to celebrate my friend's birthday 🥳we had the nachos as a starter. It would be better if it was heated. I had enchiladas with chicken, it was tasty. I tried their Wahaca colada, the alcohol was there but it was weak on other ingredients. The staff is very friendly. They didn't pressure us to leave after 1,5 max stay rule. They charge a service charge😅 I paid £123 pounds for 4 people dining. their churros are phenomenal 😍 Worth going there, in a very good location, in Covent Garden😇💙💙💙💎

Incredible place! The only Mexican restaurant that I found Micheladas in London. The food is delicious and tastes like Mexican food (believe me, I am Mexican). Enchiladas have an exciting combination with rice and beans, and the flavour is exceptional. Definitely, I'll be back soon.

Large group of us accommodated at short notice on a Saturday. Very friendly and helpful staff. Quick service and great tasting food. Easy payment as you scan the QR code and very easy to split the bill and each pay for what you had. Would highly recommend and visit again. Thanks to Altoro and Paul the Hen party loved it.

The five of us had a lovely late lunch here on Sunday with a great service from all the staff, mainly by Andre who was amazing. One of us has a food intolerance and that was handled with care and respect. The food was yummy too, we had a lovely time!
L. S.
Everything was almost good. The cocktails barely had alcohol in them. The food was okay but doesn't justify the cost.
E. L.
Got so much food for such an amazing price! The food was great and so worth it. Our waitress Asia was very attentive and made our visit very enjoyable and comfortable. Thank you!
H. A.
Food was good but the service was a tragedy. Despite a calm and quiet restaurant visit, we struggled to get the attention of passing staff and waiters. Not cool. Time wasted.
I. A.
Mexican food at its finest. Complete separate gluten free menu and the manager hand delivers your food - all marked with little allergy flags. Amazing food and experience. #glutenfree #coeliac #celiac
L. W.
food here is always banging, ordered the mushroom enchilada and it just hit the spot. quick service & hassle free billing so this place is always a safe option when you're too overwhelmed with london choices

This was actually our second visit to Wahaca, but I thought I'd review now since the whole family has had chance to visit (me, my wife, our 8 and 11yo kids)
.
My wife and I have loved Mexican food since going to the Yucatan on our honeymoon, and Wahaca does an amazing job of replicating some great staples like pork pibil and throwing some new things into the mix (halloumi tacos with pineapple salsa are awesome). We decided to go for the set menus so that our kids could try lots of different things instead of limiting them to the children's menu and they couldn't get enough of it.
Nothing was spicy for the sake of it, and the flavour packed into each dish is gorgeous, so they enjoyed a bit of everything - even if we were reluctant to share the fried cauliflower and jalapeno aioli.
Staff here are genuinely lovely and attentive, and food was served as it was cooked, meaning if you wanted fast food during a visit to the city this is a great option. We'll definitely be visiting again, but until then hopefully trying to cook a few more dishes from the cookbook!
p.s. the mexpresso martini gets two very enthusiastic thumbs up from my wife, and the reposado tequila is a fantastic digestif (but sip, don't shoot!)

Honestly amazing food! I'm normally a fussy eater so I was a bit nervous the first time but I loved it. So much choice and amazing food. Have already been back since my first time a month ago!:)
S. F.
Great food, brilliant service will be going back again to try the rest of the menu
M. B.
We dined as a table of 9 last Wednesday, the service by Sara was great. The food was lovely with generous portions, we had one set meal and the rest had their own, but looking at the food arriving for the set meal we all wish we had gone for those (veggie and vegan options available too)
Cocktails - small choice but really nice.
Overall, large space, friendly staff, good value for money especially for central London. For a Wednesday Night the place was extremely busy.
Thank you again to Sara for looking after us.
A. A.
Fresh food and the best Mexican drinks.
Stuff are very accommodating and they can change ingredients for you if you don’t like something.
Will come back to this place.

Wahaca is still by far one of my favourite restaurants. The food, cocktails and atmosphere is great and we always enjoy our experience here. This past time, although the service wasn't as good as it always is, the drinks and food thankfully made up for it. They still have the best sweet potato and feta taquito and the margaritas are to die for!
R. C.
I strongly advise to book in advance. Very good meal but long wait.
S. M.
We all really enjoyed the food. My partner isn't the biggest fan if vegetables, but really liked all of the veggie options on the favourites sharing menu.
I really liked the butternut squash and feta, so delicious!
The only issue was that we had to ask a few times for all of the things we ordered, then these were added to the bill.
There were taken off the bill, but we also had to rush to the theatre so we had to run there after leaving!
B.
Lovely big basement space with room for walk ins. Food and drinks are delicious and everything tastes fresh to match the vibrant decor. Food comes out when it's ready which meant my mate had finished before my dish came out, but that's the luck of the draw with the orders and not sharing. Really tasty stuff and plenty of choice on the menu.
J. M.
Amazing restaurant… amazing food. Amazing tequila. Amazing staff!!!!!
Absolutely loved this restaurant and everything about it. I will travel 300 miles again to come back here, would love to thank Miguel our waiter for the night who also guided us through the menu giving us the best possible experience
L. M.
Absolutely amazing service. Managed to fit a table of 13 on a Thursday night at 9pm with no reservation! Our server was lovely and professional and super helpful. Brilliant food as well, managed to cater for all our dietary and allergen needs. Reasonable costs for London too.
D. D.
Great food, arrives quickly and fresh so if you get street food, it may arrive at different times which makes for long enjoyable dinner! Plantain and hibiscus margarita are especially lovely! Location could have a slightly better atmosphere, however.
V. S.
By far my favourite restaurant, great and fast service. Always make me feel comfortable. Just wish I had one closer to home but always worth the travel. Belu is also my favourite drink so bonus that they serve this
I. O.
Great food, always an amazing experience! Definitely a treat. Try the plantain and feta tacos and the black beans and three cheese quesadilla, they're both a staple we get every time we visit. The corn ribs special and the croquettes were also amazing.
E. B.
Had such a lovely experience. Our waiter was lovely. He fully explained the menu. The food was delish!
C. K.
Regular visitor to Wahaca whenever I come to London either by myself or with others. This trip was myself, my wife and 2 children.
As always the service was fantastic, our waitress went from quite an empty area to cover, to jam packed in the time we were eating and she still continued to make sure we were okay and the that the food came out in good time.
The food was delicious, we had a good spread across the small plates section and couldn't fault anything.
The one key thing I would want to call out was that we were offered to try some cricket salsa (pictured) for free... I am so glad we did. Normally I wouldn't try something like this but it was genuinely delicious and I can only hope they bring it onto the menu fully in the future.
J. H. C.
Never had Mexican food before. First time visiting Wahaca, the staff was super helpful and friendly. Had some free tasters which was great. Food was super tasty and would definitely come again! Welcoming atmosphere too!
N. T.
Mind blowing food, amazing people and great ambience. Loved everything we ordered and every minute we spent there.
K. W. M.
Fresh, creative dishes; delicious drinks; and quick and friendly service. The vegan set menu was super tasty, as was our friend’s pork pibil “ultimate” burrito. The flavored margaritas (hibiscus and passion fruit) were both excellent additions to our dinner. We loved our experience and would highly recommend!
D. A.
The quality of the food was amazing for the price. The staff were really friendly and would check on us regularly to make sure our food came on time. They would check in to make sure our food tasted nice and they made sure we were having a good experience.
Y. U.
Absolutely amazing! One of the best, a perfect combination of food and service. Wide variety of food, everything we ordered was super tasty and on time. A few favourites from the menu - falafel tacos, squash & feta tostadas and cauliflower bites! The staff is extremely helpful and positive - and special thanks to Martina & Simona we had a wonderful evening. Looking forward to the next time already.
L.
Pretty decent. I've had some pretty awful tacos in London and these were the best so far. The nachos were bland though. Loved the Plantain tacos! The churros were cold which was disappointing, but the chocolate sauce was amazing and made up for it. I would recommend and visit again.
B. D.
First off - try to set a reservation a day or more in advance if you can. We went day of and required a 45 minute wait for 2 - not bad, but if you want to try this place it's worth the planning ahead.
Wait staff was very friendly and helpful, attentive after we ordered as well. The food was fantastic. It's served as it's finished being prepared, so the meal almost naturally becomes separate courses. Buttermilk chicken tacos, chicken club & 3 cheese and bean quesadillas, sweet potato taquito all very recommended.
B.
Really fresh tasty food, cute but filling portions on the small bites section. Great service, restaurant not busy on the Friday lunchtime, all areas were clean
D. L.
Loved it here. Got the sharing menu @ £22 per person and it was HUGE. The Michelada is a must!
J. L.
Literally the best food I've ever had. All the staff who served us were really friendly, and Sara the waitress who served us explained everything and went through the whole menu with my picky eater friend! Would absolutly recommend😁😁
R. H.
Surprisingly good - an improved menu and reasonably priced. Plantain taco was the best thing I had. Good for large groups as you can split the bill easily if needed
L. J.
The food was ok, not too impressive. Location, staff and interior: 👌
H. P.
We booked for a pre-theatre meal. Delicious food and cocktails, great atmosphere and helpful, friendly service. Kids loved their food. Reasonably priced too. Recommend.
T. W.
Really enjoyed it, had the shared meal for 2 (about £20 each). We hadn't booked so had to wait an hour for a table which gave us time to have a drink in Covent garden. Our gluten free daughter loved it.
S. “.
Excellent restaurant with great vegan options. The kids loved build your own fajitas and it was a very reasonable price. In a great location, Highly recommended!
G. S.
Food was so good, maybe too hot and spicy 🥵🔥. Italian waitress was very nice! 🥰
M. K.
We celebrated my partner’s birthday at Wahaca in Covent Garden on Saturday night. Despite the fact that we didn’t make reservation we managed to put down our names and get a table for 4 in 1 hour. The food was absolutely amazing. We have been to other Wahacas in London but tacos in this particular venue are the tastiest! What was also great, was the latino music in the background which really suits this place and is giving a really good vibe. During the whole evening we were looked after by the loveliest waiter Patric who had a good knowledge of the menu and made some good recommendations. He also surprsied us by serving a cute dessert with a candle for my partner’s birthday! All in all, great place and looking forward to go back! Keep it up guys!
G. C. T.
As with most Wahacas, staff are super friendly and approachable. The atmosphere was great, good music and tasty food with just the right amount of spice. Can never go wrong with a Wahaca!
J. W.
We tried to book a table here but you cannot book after about 6pm on Saturday and have to just turn up and chance your luck. We wanted a table at around 7-7.30pm. We arrived about 7.15pm and was told it would be a 45 min wait. Luckily it was more like 20 mins before we were seated.
The service was very good with our waiter explaining the menu to us as it was our first visit. We opted for the kids meals for our two children which was good value for money at £6.95 for main meal drink and pudding. Myself and my wife went for the set sharing meal for two. You got seven dishes to share for £22 each. After ordering the food arrived very quickly. About 5 mins for the kids and our dishes sporadically about 5 mins after that. The food itself was delicious and we couldn't fault any of the dishes. The kids enjoyed their food and found some new ingredients that they hadn't tried before.
Payment for the meal can be done through your waiter or online by scanning the barcode on the table writing your table number. We opted for the latter which made payment very quick. Only issue is they add 12.5% service charge on and you can't remove it. No problem for us this time as we were happy with the service.
Overall we will go again as we enjoyed the experience.
G. K.
Love it. I had the tacos and croquetas, and they were yummy 😋 Love the cocktails too. It was busy because of the Jubilee but they brought our food pretty fast.
L. J.
Wonderful. Vibrant colours and tastes. Tried the cricket (the insect not the sport) salsa - a first but not unpleasant experience.
E. M.
Absolutely amazing service. Very friendly staff and very considerate. A group member had a severe allergy and they went above and beyond to take care of us. Fantastic food. Excellent experience.

Today we had a loooooong day touristing through the city and ended up choosing Wahaca Covent Garden for our dinner, and we were so glad we did!
On arrival the kind man at the door told us it would be about a 30 minute wait, but we were seated after just about 5 minutes.
Our kind waitress Giuliana greeted us at the table, and since it was our first time here, she took the time to explain the concept and the ways we could enjoy the food there.
We chose some of the smaller plates and where delighted with the quality and rich taste of the food, especially the chargrilled chicken was one of the best we ever had.
During the meal our kind waitress was there to ask if everything was to our whishes and gave extra advice on desserts, which we gladly took.
Thanks so much to all the staff there, we enjoyed our time in your restaurant, the great atmosphere, good music and staff visibly having a good time and ofcourse the food!
Please consider opening restaurants in The Netherlands (and can Giuliana come too?) we’ll be the first customers there!
L. P.
Good festive. Excellent service. Tasty sharing plates. Cocktail taste and experience could be improved. 🌮🇲🇽🌯
B. G.
This place has really nice food, we walked in without booking and found this place by walking around. Mrs is vegetarian so she found it great. Vegan options available also.

This review is related to my visit on the evening of 28-Feb-2022. The restaurant is located close to the Trafalgar Square. My friend had recommended the place and I would say the food did not disappoint. Since I had not pre-booked the table, there was a wait time of approximately 30 min. From the menu, I really liked the cauliflower fry and the drink Modelo Especial with Michelada. The service a bit slow but the staff were helpful.
C. R.
Very busy restaurant, but food was served very quickly, enjoyed a few different small dishes (I would recommend this) and enjoyed them all. My favourite was the one I least expected. Churros for desert, really delicious with the Dulce de leche sauce! Would definitely go back
M. S.
Very tasty food, full of flavour. High end Mexican food.
A. H.
Such a lovely, spacious and colourful space! Would definitely recommend it to anyone who loves mexican food. The menu is great, I especially liked that there aren't many main dishes, but rather a lot of smaller dishes like tapas, and it is recommended to order 2-3 of them. Also the desserts are great, simple but tasty.
The service was perfect, our waiter Andre was very kind and helpful.
Overall a wonderful experience!
S. E.
Very good food but also expensive for 2 people and one alcoholic drink.
C. A.
Great food and lovely ambience for a good time with friends. Cocktails are nice. Veggie nachos and fish tacos were outstanding!
L. J.
Went there for dinner with the girlfriend, we had a very pleasant meal, great food, fast service, set us down really quickly and had a nice table.
Food is amazing as always, drinks and cocktails great.
However I did find the service a bit hit and miss this time, every table had water on the table, and complementary nachos, we didn't, also every table had plates based on the number of seats, we had one...
Yeah ok I could have asked for all of the above but this should have been given without us haven't to ask, specially it wasn't that busy when we got there.
However don't let this put you off, the food is still amazing :)
E. S.
Amazing food. Innovating non veg dishes .
The halloumi tacos are the best ever.
Great service as well .The staff was so friendly.
M. B.
Ate here with a friend in between shows. Really great, tasty food and so much of it. We had one of the set menus and it was great. Really attentive service. A favourite when we come to London.
C.
Great ambience, great service (by a little slow to finish up) and food is always delicious.
Mains took an age to come out though, but overall it's a great restaurant.
M. G.
Well, The food was brilliant!! & Aida was really delightful serving us for our dinner! Sweet potato 🥔 & feta taquito was my favourite!! Looking forward to go many times in future for Mexican delights!!
S. K.
Great variety of Mexican dishes that are authentic. Lovely staff and friendly service. The food comes out when it's ready and is perfect for sharing if you go for the street food. Great value too. Exceptional margaritas!
V. Y.
I really liked this Wahaca. The staff was very friendly, the cocktails were good- also have a great selection of them, and the food was amazing. We ordered “The Favourites” for two, which brings you a number of small dishes. All of them were delicious, some of which pictured below. The reason I’m giving it a 4/5 is because some dishes for reasons beyond me have 3 portions even though it’s for 2. You could add 4 to make it an even split!!!
The facilities are also very clean and well taken care of which I believe is essential for a good establishment.
P.S if you’ve found this post or the pics helpful please do give it a like. Enjoy :)

The Best food and team ever. Hands up to Martina and Simona - if you wish for guidance, just ask them.
We highly recommend it
D. A.
The quality of the food was amazing for the price. The staff were really friendly and would check on us regularly to make sure our food came on time. They would check in to make sure our food tasted nice and they made sure we were having a good experience.

Amazing food and service.
H. T.
Absolutely love this place. Great tapas style food and service is good too.
B. L.
Great food, great price and great service.
b. h.
Fantastic food friendly staff unfortunately food comes out as it comes I finished my meal before everyone else's
T. F.
Fantastic food and great service!
C. S.
Came as a big table few weeks ago and service was so good and food came quickly and was delicious - I know big groups can be a nightmare so this was great!
S. T.
Great service. Plenty of seating. Delicious. Loved the classic margarita and the fish tacos and the sweet potato taquitos.
T. H.
Just wonderful. It took a while to get served, but the staff apologised , and in these COVID times, it's good to take the rough with the smooth, particularly, when the smooth was so good! Fantastic service overall, wonderful food, and excellent value. I'll certainly be coming back.
V. S.
Went there by myself and was super hungry, so I ordered one set of vegetarian feta cheese tacos and one black bean quesadilla and that was well enough food to take my hunger away. The space is large and seats alot of people. Staff was very friendly and the food came super fast.
J. Q.
Delicious food, good service and reasonably priced. I would recommend booking in advance as the restaurant was very busy.
J. U.
Mega Value Mexican Street food. So tasty! Lovely tenderstem broccoli and burrito. This place is buzzing and I can see why. Can’t rate this well enough for a taste of Mexico.
R. d. B.
We had a lovely evening at Wahaca. Our meal was delicious and even though we arrived with two babies in prams, they found a space to fit us in. The staff were so helpful and accomodating and that really made it for us.
D. B.
Service was spot on Elena was an absolute delight...fun and efficient. Nachos best I have ever had. Oh and the margarita was delicious just wished it was bigger. Great first visit.
A. M.
Food was good. It was busy so we didn't receive all the items from the set menu. Different servers served us, bit chaotic. Still waiting for 3 dishes...
R. H.
I've visited a couple of times a year for the last few years. The food has always been lovely. This time the service didn't match it, food sat on the pass for you long and frequent mistakes.
k. s.
Great food, friendly staff. My all time favourite.
Y. Y.
Loved it! The waiters were so attentive and helpful + they accommodated our table which had some people who wanted the standard menu, some vegan and some gluten free. So we were very difficult, but they were extremely helpful. The food also tasted incredible
M. O.
It’s way overpriced for what it is… I should’ve eaten from my son’s kids menu because it’s a better value. We waited at the table for probably 10 minutes before anyone came to get any of our order. I have to agree with another review, what is that smell!!?? I kept getting whiffs of sewer or something… I dont know.
R.
Good service, decent tacos and rly good quesadillas!
Worth the price if you go as a group
J. F.
Never been here before.
Different to the type of place I'm used to going to eat. I'm glad my friend suggested it as we both loved the food.
Service was exceptional!!
Highly recommend this place!!
When I'm in the area again I will definitely have it on my list for dinner again 😋😋
S. R.
The Best food and team ever. Hands up to Martina and Simona - if you wish for guidance, just ask them.
We highly recommend it
S. T.
Well it's not cheap but not expensive. £90 for 4 of us (7+9 year old eating adult food). No booze.
Food is well prepared and nicely served, flavours are well balanced and Wahaca serves good Mexican food. Portions are slightly on the smaller size.
The atmosphere is fine but the building is a bit weird, feels like eating in a basement, which of course it is.
Highlights were dessert.
All in all the food was delicious and recommended to all.
This place is good for families as it's very informal.
A. C.
Really good food, some of the seating is more fashionable than truly functional. Great service, lively vibe. Were out of a few items but we still had great options. Only other minor nitpick, the amount of chips wasn't enough for the amount of guacamole we ordered.
M. A.
Great find after a long time waiting for food. Enjoyed great service and a nice atmosphere during our late lunch. Burrito was nice and filling and prices were great value. They also have a great payment app...
L. D.
This was the first time that I've enjoyed Mexican food. Busy place with helpful and friendly staff. Well worth making a reservation.
C. C.
I can’t recommend this place enough, not only for its food, but for its service for people with
we were asked whether we had any allergies and were given a document with a breakdown of all the potential allergenic items in each meal, the manager came to take our order especially because of our allergies, and he made super sure i was okay with pumpkin seeds (i have a peanut allergy).
every restaurant should take this amount of precaution because allergies are literally life and death!
defs coming back here again, thank you Wahaca!!
H. T.
Very warm welcome. Delicious cocktails and lovely food, super waiter called Paul, made our evening!
S. S.
Mixed feelings. 7 of us. One with a serious chilli allergy. Mentioned a few times. Chose very very carefully. However when starters arrived we were about to tuck into the guac and it was whisked away. Wrong one given to us! OK easily done as busy but could've been quite serious.
But rest was very tasty indeed
V. S.
Great selection of Tequila! And the menu is just bursting with flavours. Love the nibbles and portion sizes.
O. W.
Empty plates say everything! As chain restaurants go this is full of flavour, atmosphere and general sass. It's laid back but with a punchy style - a combination of spice and salsa. Loved the food, especially the little taster, and the service. Definitely up there for a cheap night out and a full belly of food!
N. H.
Lovely place food was fab staff very friendly. Would advise to book
Z. B.
Great Mexican food, cocktails gorgeous! Hibiscus gin is my favourite thing, and you nailed the cocktail with it.
Fried duck balls worth every single calories it contains! Crab was super delicious as well.
S. W.
Came here for my 60th birthday with family, it was busy but staff were very attentive and polite. Good selection of food and drinks, would recommend booking,
C. K.
Visited Wahaca last Friday. It never fails to impress. Great food, lovely staff and the best Margaritas. Very reasonably priced also.
Highly recommend.
M. Z.
Amazing experience! They sit you as fast as possible, the staff is really nice, fast and helpful, the margaritas are made just on point 😉 and the FOOD! It was one of the best Mexican foods I've ever had and yes I've been to Mexico!
V. G.
What a wonderful taste experience. Can't wait to go again. Plenty of space in Covent Garden so don't worry about booking.
D. H.
This tasting extravaganza was orchestrated by Rafa, our host with the most. An impressively smooth operation with a well oiled team. We will be back for more!
A. N.
Great place for a party! There were 15 of us and the service was fast, Asia was fabulous, she managed our rather roudy table like a pro and got all the food out fast for the hungry boys! Loved the special attention for the birthday boy. Thanks for helping to make the evening special!
J. 1.
If you like Mexican food, go here! Great quality food, and for London, decent pricing. There will be dishes that you won't like but that is expected at any restaurant. Buttermilk Chicken tacos are a must have.
S.
Food was good but really small portions and pricy also came at very different times so not ideal for a family dinning experience
J.
Eating at a MSC-certified (Marine Stewardship Council) food chain offered a definitely different dining experience because you know that you are directly contributing to the environment. The food were great and the staff was friendly. My buttermilk fried chicken taco was a bit wet, though, due to its relish. Was surprised to find my black been quesadillas to be cheesy and crispy.

There's a great atmosphere and general buzz about the place. Service was fine, although they seemed rushed.
The food was okay. Maybe it was the dishes I ordered but I didn't find them particularly flavourful. I also felt it was overpriced (1 tortilla, black beans and some cheese = £6) but maybe that's just central London.
Having the dishes come out randomly as they are 'made fresh' just feels like a system that suits the restaurant rather than the customer. It makes some sense for a group sharing dishes but as a family of three, I had finished before my 9 year old got her food, hardly a good experience.
The pay via the QR code approach is interesting. We spent several minutes, trying to read the code. I witnessed a couple on the next table also struggling. What app are you supposed to use?
E. J.
Lovely fresh food, great service, child friendly, and I’ll definitely return if I fancy Mexican food when back in London
Z. B.
Really buzzy atmosphere, great staff. The food was stunning.
C. H.
Great staff and excellent service. I always love the food at Wahaca, especially that it comes out freshly done as it's cooked rather than all of your food coming at once.
m. f.
Both me and the wife really enjoyed our time. Lovely food and cocktails. Top stuff!!!
H. T.
Absolutely love this place. Great tapas style food and service is good too.
K.
Tasty food, lovely staff (our waiters were super nice!) and affordable for london - especially with 30% off for the NHS staff
D. G.
Coctails (all margaritas), tacos were very delicious. Ambiance is very good. Even it is a very big place and it was crowded, we didnt wait so much. The best thing was they made a mini survey about every meal we ordered. I believe they will improve themselves, espeacially their deserts;)
M.
Bit of a wait to be seated so definitely recommend booking in advance. Burritos and service were excellent
K. S.
The food is delicious! The portions are bigger than expected so you only need 2-3 plates
b. h.
Fantastic food friendly staff unfortunately food comes out as it comes I finished my meal before everyone else's
d. m.
Timed ,dinner just about right 6pm ,good food good service ,queue out the door on leaving, but weren't rushed.
C. B.
Simply, tasty, Mexican food. No frills, good value. Doesn't break the bank.
A. F.
This place was delicious! Not your typical mexican food but so yummy. Lots of vegetarian options too. The only reason I am not giving it 5 stars is the amount of chips with the chips and guacamole was only a little cans worth, when we asked for more we got them but they didn't mention we'd be charged for more. Only a minor thing overall.
R. S.
The food and the service were very good.
However, a bit little for the price you pay.
R. M. M.
Acceptable burrito, excellent chips and guacamole serviced in a vast, bright basement space. Nice touch is a sink at the entrance so you can wash your sticky hands on the way out.
D. M.
I had their nachos with crickets and pumpkin seeds. So delish! But if you aren't so inclined.. Try the Devon crab and pork pibil
a. p.
this is an awesome place. i love the small dishes, they go well with beer. the baja tacos was my favorite. the service was great, too.
B. A.
Great service as always. Knowledgeable staff, super friendly and food is impeccable.
A. X.
Great food at decent price; didn't like my waiter (he seemed judgmental when I asked for a tequila recommendation)
E. T.
Great vibe, waited 20 minutes for a table but well worth it. The place was packed full of people but service was still reasonably fast. Food was amazing! Definitely coming back next time i am in the area.
c. m.
Great food, a little slow to severe pudding otherwise would be 5 stars
J. S.
Great place, great food, attentive staff. Would definitely come again!
P. S.
Food was good. Really enjoyed the mixture of options with the set menu.
Good location. Toilets not too clean which is the reason for 4 stars
J. H.
We traveled to London from the USA and we ate here 3 times! Amazing decently priced tapas! Please try the sweet potato feta burrito thing.
G. B.
Amazing staff! First time attending and the food was delicious!
K. C.
Fairly good Mexican food. The pork pibil was good. The buttermilk chicken was alright and the steak taco was chewy and fell apart. Dessert was your typical pre-made chain restaurant stuff. Churros were passable. Service was good, accommodated our big group well and food came in good time. Price is fair for what you get.
X. D.
One of the best meals ive had in ages! Amazing options, and everything my friend and I had was so delicious. Staff were lovely too! Will definitely be back again and recommending to others 😊
Thanks
R. J.
Absolutely spectacular food. Its on the expensive side but you will not find better Vietnamese food anywhere near by. Service was faster than anywhere I've been to, and considering the quality of food this is doubly impressive!
S. S.
TAsty food, but on the upper end of price range when it comes to the ambience and decor. £7 for two small tacos/£14 for a burrito.
A. A.
I like Mexican food but this one wasn’t the best. It was okay.
The food tasted more like it was made by a fast food chain.
S. F.
Fantastic staff, fantastic food and drinks.
t.
My first visit here and I was not disappointed. In our party we had someone who had a nut allergy and they were great in helping them choose food and great that the manager is responsible for taking the orders. Will definitely come back!
F. c.
Great food, quite different to other options. Lovely staff and generally a good vibe. Slightly expensive.
E. Y.
My new favourite place in London! the staff were so friendly, the service was quick & the food was delicious!! I'd go as far to say it's the best Mexican I've ever had!!
L. S.
Love the sustainable take on guacamole with fava beans. Tastes really good. Great food, great decor but a bit on the pricey side
S. M.
Our second visit to a Wahaca this weekend! 🤪 Once again the food was delicious and the team were friendly, but at this location the service seemed slightly disorganised and we had to wait for both rounds of drinks. There was a good atmosphere and we would still recommend it!
Q. L.
We really enjoyed our meal here. The staff were truly excellent and the food was delicious. Highly recommended.
D. S.
It was great experience. Best service. They were nice. The food is amazing. I ordered pulled beef burger and chicken wrapped.
A. T.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere and food, great range of choices in street food and drinks
H. T.
What a lovely restaurant
Very helpful staff as we had a pram and a toddler with us
Lovely food staff and atmosphere
k. C.
Absolutely brilliant Mexican food and very authentic cocktails. The meals were brought out very quickly and tasted incredible, genuinely the best Mexican food I've tasted outside of Mexico itself!
S. K.
They were really busy when my friends and I visited but staff were very accommodating and service was great. One of my friends has some allergies so the manager took care of her order personally which I thought was great. They also gave her a menu detailing which foods contained which allergens and which of these could be substituted; a really good touch I feel.
V.
Went to celebrate my friend's and my birthday and had a brilliant time.
The staff were lovely and attentive and even gave us complementary churros once they knew we had bdays. The food was amazing but especially the sweet potatoes 'bravas' (chef's kiss) highly recommend it!!
S.
Great food, good cocktails, wonderful service, really cheap. The pulled pork burrito was one of the best I've had. My wife ordered the chicken tingas - again perfect. Must try the jalapeño rum cocktail. Will recommend.
K. B.
Excellent meal love being able to share courses only critism would be service a bit slow
M. S. L.
Very busy so I can't stress this enough YOU NEED TO BOOK A TABLE. The que to get in was huge luckily we got to walk straight past as we'd booked a table but the que was out the door. The food was amazing I got a burrito and it was delicious. It was my friend's birthday and the staff sang her happy birthday. Our server was so lovely aswell :)
M. C.
Great service and a wide range of dishes on the menu. Make sure you try the plantain taco! Skip the hot chocolate though.
S. W.
Great food delivered promptly (great food can be fast food!) Lovely cocktails and tequilas. Our server Andre was excellent and a real asset to the restaurant. We would return just for him!
Y.
good mexican food and good environment, nice service, best tacos ever with deeply cooked soft meat
M.
Beautiful meal, would highly recommend
R. C.
Great selection of vegetarian options, great cocktails and excellent service. We will be back!
A. S.
Yummy mexican food served and very friendly staff.
J. H.
Great customer service all staff seemed happy and very helpful. The food wasn’t as good as it normally used and shame the table sauces have gone now 😢
S. Z.
Great Mexican food! The margaritas where amazing, will definitely come back!
P. B. 7.
Sorry to say this was a pretty average meal, normally a big fan of Wagaca but maybe because this is more of a tourist location there is less effort? Maybe harsh everyone has an off day.
B. B.
Love it all. Amazing dishes and drinks. Many vegetarian options.
S. R.
Tasty mexican streetfood, generous portions, well presented, speedy service
P. M.
Superb. Full marks for gluten free options and advice. Staff friendly and helpful. Great food.
H.
We had a lovely meal here. We were told it was a 5-10 minute wait which was more like 20 but we were happy to get a table at such a busy time. Our waiter Alex was lovely explaining everything to us and making recommendations which we appreciated as it was our first visit to Wahaca. When my drink arrived it did not have a straw as expected due to their policy regarding plastic straws. However when drinking a daiquiri aka a glass of ice it is very hard to enjoy without a straw and without getting a lap full of ice. As the menu stated straws are available on request and are all 100% biodegradable I didn’t think this would be a problem, so I stopped a passing staff member to ask for a straw and I received an eco lecture, had a crayon line drawn on my menu to point out the information and then he finished by saying “so I’m not going to bring you a straw if that’s ok” and walked away. I understand the whole idea behind not having straws and I thoroughly support this but perhaps adjustments to beverages should be made so patrons are able to enjoy their drinks rather than having to pick ice out with their hands to get to their actual drink. If straws are not available it shouldn’t be printed on the menu that they are available upon request.
Aside from this brief encounter, our experience and food was delicious and Alex was very helpful at every turn!
L. D.
Amazing food, amazing service. Wahaca never disappoints
A. V.
The staff and food were wonderful. An overall very good experience.
B. S.
Love the place, staff, food and prices even location is great, nothing wrong at all
S. W.
Very, very tasty, especially for Texans after spending a week in London.
I. D.
Good food and despite it being pre Christmas and busy the service was decent.
I do wish they had warned us that it was a weekend kindergarden....
V. O. (.
Although their chips and salsa were more like chips and pico, the pico was super fresh and delicious. The Mexican style chicken enchilada was great as well. I didn’t expect to find good Tex-mex in London so this was a nice surprise.
I. F.
Great flavours and a good variety to choose from, my veggie colleague also enjoyed the plantain tacos.
K. Y.
We had a fantastic time, great host, great food and cocktails
C. M.
Found this place just as we were getting hungry. Had a really great time - portion sizes just right and good value for money. Food was really really tasty and a million miles from the usual, poor Mexican chains.
S. H. T.
First time back in Covent Garden in a long time and enjoyed our visit to Wahaca. As usual, food and drinks were great. Fresh & flavourful. As you come down the stairs, you will be greeted by somebody go guide you through the COVID-safe measures. Love the sink right at the front to wash hands, which is great idea pandemic or not. Efficient, friendly and informative service from Andre. Thanks.
J. W.
Delicious and veggie friendly food. Wish we had a Wahaca's in Reigate! The staff were great, particularly Hanne and Aisa.
L. R.
Lovely restaurant interior, great options on the menu (many vegan options too) and polite, warm stuff. I’ll definitely be going back to try things on the menu I didn’t get to this time.
M. S.
Very tasty food, best Mexican in London and prices don't break the bank!
F. B.
I love Wahaca! Super friendly service and delicious food. The prices are pretty good too. Highly recommend fish tacos!
H. C.
Ivan made our lunch trip. Great food, great company.
D. M.
Staff lovely, but food a little pricey for what it is... Good experience, lovely food. But the staff made it brilliant.
F. A.
Wasn't the best wahaca I've been to food-wise, but they dealt with the massive amount of covers very well
N. S.
Very nice ambience. Quick service. Good value for money.
E. S.
Highly recommended. Nice atmosphere and very good food
S. S.
Excellent choice for Mexican cuisine with warm hospitality. Worth visiting.
E. R.
Absolutely mind-blowing food. The menu is new and honestly I can not remember when was the last time i was left feeling so azed by food I ate. I am literally dreaming of going back
S. M.

Great food and that staff were lovely.
M. Z.
Amazing experience! They sit you as fast as possible, the staff is really nice, fast and helpful, the margaritas are made just on point 😉 and the FOOD! It was one of the best Mexican foods I've ever had and yes I've been to Mexico!
F. B.
I love Wahaca! Super friendly service and delicious food. The prices are pretty good too. Highly recommend fish tacos!
A. C.
Great food, friendly service a couple of ordering mistakes but quickly rectified
T. T.
The place is cozy, but the Mexican food is not my cup of tea.
S. K.
They were really busy when my friends and I visited but staff were very accommodating and service was great. One of my friends has some allergies so the manager took care of her order personally which I thought was great. They also gave her …
R. R.
Great service! Good for allergy food advice
S. J.
Wahaca is one of my favourite restaurants in london, with tons of dishes, each with tons of flavour.
K. W.
Excellent service and they have a comprehensive allergy menu. The food is fresh, portions are generous and the flavours are amazing. Loved it!
A. K.
Four of us went here for lunch and loved it. I have been to a few Mexican restaurants but this is different. We ordered a selection of small dishes (a bit like Tapas but Mexican!) and they were mostly combinations I hadn't had before but they were all delicious. If you like spicy food and are a bit adventurous go for it! The place is huge and buzzing. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. All in all a very nice experience. I'll definitely go again next time I'm in the area.
A. S.
It's OK for a quick bite to eat from a standard meal choice but not anything special
S. L.
Great and fast service, friendly staff, affordable comfort food. My favourite wahaca. Highly Recommended!
A. P.
Not the best wahaca branch, but still more than respectable.
V. S.
First time and it was lovely. Sat outside. Had great service and food came quickly. I cannot wait to try the menu
M. A.
Very attentive staff who take the time to help you, check what they can do to help, and make the experience better.
The food is always fast and fresh, and frankly amazing. I am a fan of many dishes, the fish tacos stand out as my favourite.
Nice beer selection and good cocktails. Great place for quick food for small or large groups.
Finally, the price has always been reasonable for what you get. I struggle to find a better experience in covent gardens and can highly recommend.
G. C.
Chain of mexican food with branches all over London. Nice food and prices but its more of another fast food chain with nothing exceptional to think about.
L. C.
Very tasty and nice atmosphere even though a little too much noise..pretty cheap
S. D.
Great food , went with a set menu and all good
L. L.
The guys that work here are amazing. Just wish wahacca woul nail a good taco al pastor.
c.
Food was flavoursome and service was fast and efficient. Great range of food and beverages and a pleasant atmosphere. A few negatives, we waited an hour for our table as the device they gave us didn't work. There was vomit in the men's basin for over two hours and the side plates were dirty. Staff were extremely apologetic and courteous throughout. Also I met a celebrity outside so maybe I'm biased and marking up.
S. S.
Great food and that staff were lovely.
S. D.
Amazing food, great service, and awesome atmosphere. Will be returning!
J. V.
Very good salads, very large burritos and fantastic grill. The Churros as expensive as good.
L. F.
Mexican chain with great food, well trained staff and funky interiors. Try the churro at the end of your meal
L. M.
We had to wait to be seated, which just showed the popularity. We had a set menu to try a variety and not a single dish disappointed. We had Andre who was friendly, attentive and efficient. Loved the post it specials. Great cocktails. Enjoyable atmosphere. Reasonable price. Would go again without question
R. S.
Its the first time my husband and l have eaten at Wahaca and we really lived our meal. We had one of the set menu's which enabled us to try six dishes from the menu and we enjoyed it very much especially the pork soft taco's and l loved the sweet potato and feta dish too. I would certainly recommend trying it.
P. N.
Had a lovely pre-theatre dinner here. Food was good and service very friendly and attentive. My husband and I have food allergies and the staff couldn't have been nicer. The gluten free range is greater than the milk free one, but still a tasty selection to choose from. Some of the food was a little cold, but delicious nonetheless. The margarita was divine.
L.
A fantastic experience. We walked in and was informed a half hour wait time. However, we were able to get nachos from the bar whilst we waited so we actually enjoyed the wait. Once we were seated an ordered, the timing of the food was a little strange, with each of our meals being sent at different times. However, the food was sensational. My 9 year old sister was able to make her own tacos which she thoroughly enjoyed and actually inspired by this to eat her vegetables. I ordered spicy quesadillas which were delicious, but the fish tacos were impeccable. Absolutely full of flavour and I couldn’t get enough. To finish it off, we had churros for dessert. Proper authentic Mexican food cooked with passion and care. Hopefully, timing of food will improve but I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone. Also worth mentioning, prices are very fair so great value for money.
L. D.
Very fast service, good food. We arrived as a party of ten, pre theatre. Just missed the evening queue. Obviously popular
K. N.
Great food and drinks.
Food allergies the staff dealt with really well, knowledgeable of menu/allergen menu.
S.
An excellent restaurant with a menu, on first glance, does not make sense.
It's worth getting familiar with the menu as the food is very tasty and worth every penny, with very good gluten free options.
It might be an idea for the manager, to encourage new customers, with an introduction platter of smaller portions, to become familiar with what dish they enjoyed the best and not spending fortune on food you don't enjoy.
The restaurant itself is roomy with great service.
On the down side...not wheelchair friendly.
K. J.
Went here for lunch with my daughter, who is gluten free and my granddaughter, I'm vegan. Lovely menu with plenty of choice for all of us. Waiters were attentive and helpful, they took and prepared our gluten free and vegan orders separately, to ensure no cross contamination. The food did not disappoint, very tasty and reasonable price. Would definitely recommend.
C. D.
Stunning Mexican chain that offers incredible flavours without costing the earth. Light and spacious dining area with attentive staff. Decent sized menu that offers flavours but doesn't overpower with heat. Tried quite a few of the dishes and each was better than the last. Will be definitely returning to try the rest! Highly recommended.
W. M.
Friendly service and good comfort food! I had the nachos and the vegetarian enchiladas which were both really tasty.
P. P.
Good food and almoat too drinkable margaritas!
C. M.
What a cool, trendy eatery this is. Food was awesome and simply the best Mexican food I've had outside of Mexico or Texas. Great menu choice and a good price too. To top it off, the service was first class. Will definitely recommend.
J. G.
Really nice food. Great atmosphere. Kids loved it. Reasonably priced for Central London
J. X.
It was great that they had a separate vegan menu but my friend made a good point about what if other people wanted to try the vegan food? So it would be nice to see the vegan items on the regular menu as well. Apart from that, the food was really good, especially the corn chips and guac. Service was a bit slow but the food made up for it.
J. B.
Great atmosphere and cocktails. The location is wonderful as well. Servers were very attentive and the food was amazeballs.
D. W.
Really excellent food and great service.
M. B.
Love this place. Hope it survives Covid troubles, always something fresh and importantly exciting on the menu!
M. D.
Great food, very impressed with this place
T. S.
I love this restaurant!! The service very good and the place was bigger than other
Very good place in order to eat mexican food..
R. W.
Went here for my birthday. Incredible service, our waiter even put a candle on my churro. It's so busy and you have to wait a bit to get in but it's totally worth it. Food is incredible, prices are such good value. The cocktails taste so good too. I wouldn't hesitate in going back!
t.
It is a well decorated spacious Mexican restaurant. The food is delicious and the staff are friendly. The portions are on the smaller side compared to usual Tex-Mex joints in US. Their spicy dishes are not really spicy either. Taking everything into consideration, it is not an expensive place but it is not cheap, either. Worth a visit, though.
C. E.
Had dinner on Friday night and was left very impressed! The food and drinks were very tasty and great value for money. The customer service was fantastic. Our waiter Martey (I think) was great, he was consistently checking to see if we had everything we needed which was very nice. Will definitely be back!
M. C.
Too crowded even on a weekday and menu was not inspiring!! Waiters looked too hassled and busy. Left after one drink and few nibbles for another place.
a. l.
Headed here on Christmas Eve. Very busy but managed to get seated with 30 minutes which is pretty good.
Drink were reasonable price; the margaritas were made very well and went down a treat
We had the chorizo sausage quesadillas which were small but flavourful.
The mains were huge and were very easy to eat and I thoroughly enjoyed my visit.
B. P.
Fun, nice food, good drinks menu. Shout out to Nancy who looked after our table, she was great!
T. S.
I really love this place. Service is really good. The staff tells you their name, explain the menu and are really happy to help. Food is very tasty with wonderful flavours. I've been to Mexico and this is as close as I've found for Mexican food in London. Price is also very good considering the location. You can eat a lot and even have a cocktail without breaking the bank. Recommended.
R. J. G.
As a Mexican, it's not as Mexican as I would've wished for, but the the taste was quite good, surprisingly good. More and better salsas were missing. Prices are a bit expensive because the portions are small, so you have to order more items.
A. C.
Great food, friendly service a couple of ordering mistakes but quickly rectified
J. S.
Food was good. Waiters at other tables messed up some orders but mine was perfect. Was expensive but all tasted fine. Large area just below street level. Its all mexican so not sure if its very suitable for small kids but other tables did have children. Food was delicious. Service for me was good. A little dimly lit.
K. H.
Amazing food and service.
A. S.
Only had drinks here which were nice. Food menu looks really nice, but we had already eaten. Definitely want to go back and try the food. Staff were really nice. And I liked that you can pay using their app on your phone rather than have to wait for the bill and card machine. More places should use this system.
M. S.
Really fun place for a family meal. The food is both tasty and filling, with pleasant drinks both alcoholic and not. Mexican food covers a wide range, so there should be something for everyone. I tend to go for the tapas rather than one big plate.
The staff are friendly, fast and helpful. They are good at offering advice as needed.
Don't forget to try some tequila, there are much better options than the UK traditional shots.
O. J.
First time I have been there but the food was delicious and the staff were friendly and polite. Will definitely go there again
T. S.
Nice place and good food...🌮🍻🌯😋
S. B.
Omg really nice I was living in USA before and I have 6 years here in UK and I never see one restaurant like in usa
R. v. D.
Cool place with nice Mexican food. You may have to wait to get seated, but you're handed a buzzer so you sit at the bar while you wait. Little streetfood snacks and bigger Mexican meals are available. You'll need more then 1 or 2 little snacks to form a meal. The ambiance and the food were both quite enjoyable!
M. B.
Great food, service and ambience!
J. F.
Very tasty. Staff super helpful and nice. Burritos were very good. The one I got did not have much meat inside but staff were very very willing to take customer comments and reimburse e.g. bring another one or not pay for the dish. (the latter for me). Will go again
M. B.
Delicious mexican food, perfect for sharing with friends. We showed up around 7:30 on a Saturday, with no booking, and they sat the 5 of us within 15 minutes. Our waiter, Alejo, was very helpful. We shared 2 of the 'selections' of plates, and a couple of tacos - that was plenty for 5. The plantain tacos are delicious, too bad they don't have a side of plantain, I'd have ordered them straight away! Would definitely go back again.
J. B.
Staff were very accommodating for our large group size, and helpful when suggesting food. The chicken wings were the best I'd had in a while. Not a huge tequila fan but tried some here which was excellent. Will be coming back here again.
C. H.
Been here a few times now and it has been amazing everytime! This time I came with a friend who had a gluten and onion allergy. They were so helpful and came over to let them know exactly what they could and couldn't have and even suggested how they could alter some of the food to help!
S. A.
Great food , very tasty
T. S.
My partner and I love this restaurant. Great food, amazing staff and a fun, lively atmosphere. There's no pre-booking, but we tend to eat around 5-6pm on a Saturday and we are usually seated quickly, even when it's really busy.
A. F.
Food was good service was very slow. They add a service charge onto your bill if i want to leave a tip I should be given the choice
M. C.
Really impressed with this place. Stumbled upon it on Google maps and it had good ratings. Headed on in and was stoked with the menu (anything Mexican you can imagine) and a great drinks list too. Staff were well organised and attentive. It's in a great location though down below street level.
S. P.
Good food.
The portions were a bit small for me. We had a preset menu called the feast, which should serve two, but I think I could’ve eaten a whole one myself.
The waiters are helpful and pretty quick to bring the food. Only weirdness was that they weren’t bringing the dishes in the order we expected. We also went there on the New Year’s Eve I think, so thing were probably a bit crazier than normal.
They have a mobile app you can use to pay as well (I couldn’t be bothered to create an account, but it should make paying and splitting the bill up faster supposedly).
E. K.
great choice of delicious Mexican street food. I loved the salads, which were served in tortilla bowl :) the wine wasn't good but I'm sure their tequilas/beers are great!
atmosphere is lively, the only problem is that you need to wait minimum 30 minutes for a table, even on a simple weekday evening.
Their wines are not great
A. M.
First and only time visiting a Wahaca - I wasn’t disappointed!
Tacos were great and the horchata was also a really nice touch as you don’t often find that in place that take modern approach to Mexican food.
Eager to try another and hoping to see more around.
N. K.
Brilliant as ever. Father-in-law described it as the best Mexican food he'd ever had. Our waiter, Rod, was attentive and helpful. Bit of a wait, though that's to be expected at 1pm on a Saturday afternoon. Atmosphere was brilliant - a very enjoyable lunchtime!
A. T.
Turned up as a group of 4 at 9:30pm on a Saturday night and only had to wait 10 minutes which was good.
We ordered the favourite and vegetarian set meals. Food came reasonably quickly.
Loved the Mexican street corn, all the tacos (buttermilk chicken / cactus & courgettte / plantain) and the chorizo empanadas. Couldn’t fault any of the other dishes either.
Our waitress was not very friendly and we also had trouble understanding / communicating with her. She brought an extra drink we didn’t order but we didn’t want to make a big deal out of it. She identified which dishes were vegetarian which was appreciated. They stopped making fresh juices when we ordered but I guess it was quite late.
Overall, we were happy with the food and cost. Service was efficient however not too friendly but we would still come back.
C. S.
The Mexican food has always been a thrill for me and this place provides all the traditional courses with a pinch of London flavor. The service was good and fast while we were eating. However, we had to wait too long for a table to open up. This can also be interpreted as good - many people are going there so it's always full.
B. N.
We like wahaca a lot; if we visit London the is a default dining option. Haven't needed to book. The food is lovely Mexican "street food". Potential to spend a lot if choosing a number of small plates but good value generally.
Friendly staff and chilled environment with trendy decor. can be a little crowded in.
C. M.
Love the Wahaca concept. The street food is top notch and the menu changes pretty regularly. I've genuinely never had a single dish I didn't like at Wahaca and its great for sharing- you can eat as little or as much as you want to. The cocktails are great- a wide variety of flavoured Margaritas. There's a small bar where you can wait if you need to for a table- their no booking policy means later on Thursday / Friday evenings it can get very busy. Go early if you don't want to wait. The atmosphere is great, but it can get pretty loud, and tables close together, so don't go here on a busy evening if you were hoping for a quiet, intimate meal!
A. M. L.
Lovely food and great service from our waitress
A. H.
Service is bitty. Food is mediocre. Food doesn't come out at the same time so people are left eating alone or watching others eat. One dish was even forgotten. Bill took forever too. Real shame, was looking forward to trying out the restaurant, only saving grace is it isn't very expensive.
L.
the food was really good and the service was excellent !
the nachos and the taco was really nice but i ordered a pork pibli taco that i didn't like but the woman (monica) the waitress made me exchange the taco with buttermilk chicken taco without having to
pay for the first one! she provided great services and was very friendly !
10/10 service
i was very happy with the service and the meal! ☺️
i absolutely loved it!
if you are first timer to mexican food like me this is great restaurant to start with as the waiter/waitress will explain the food options well and recommend the best meals.

Good Mexican food! Good prices!

Great food, great service and the best margueritas in London! Arriba! :)
S.
Great Mexican restaurant in the heart of Central London. The service is incredibly fast, they have a timer to track the time of the orders. On Saturday night they found for us 8 seats in just half an hour. Food is simply delicious and the waiters are very kind and efficient. Prices are very good.
s. r.
Great mexican food, really lively, margaritas are too expensive for what they are though.
V. N.
I had to wait too darn long for a table. 80 minutes in all. But I loved the food as it was so good, so quick and I was able to enjoy myself eventually. Fast, fresh, clean and tasty. It was brilliant. I had 3 hibiscus drinks too. They were brilliant. I will go again at a time when its not too late or maybe not a busy Friday night. I wish the Southbank Experience was staying as well (where I ate but its not on G+ yet). I enjoyed it. 6/10

Food was great; interior of the restaurant is modern but cosy, this is one of these places you will recommend to your friends. Unfortunately it is always packed and after 6pm reservations are not accepted. But don't you worry, there is a bar where you can warm up your stomach with tequila while you wait for a table. Service was very nice and tequila is my new friend now :)
F. B.
Great place to eat! Doesn't feel touristy at all, very nice interior design, fresh and hip. Superfriendly personal. Childfriendly. Daughter received crayons and coloring page straight away. They have a nice children's menu where they can fill their own fajitas. My friend and I ordered several small dishes to share which was fun. Everything was delicious! But be aware, if it states the dish 'might' be spicy, be sure it is spicy :-)

We had planned on going somewhere else only to find out that that place had shut down... Needless to say, we were not disappointed by the selection of tacos, salads, burritos, drinks and full plates. We were both stuffed by the end of the night. Service was attentive and quick. Would recommend this spot to anyone who happens to be in the area and is looking for some good Mexican bites.
J. R.
Great food! Nice and fresh Mexican food, you won't find any of that tex mex rubbish here. Usually great service and a nice atmos. It's really popular though so expect to have to wait for a table. Best idea is to order a wide variety of small plates. Note that dishes are served as soon as they're ready so dishes will come out randomly.
M. L.
Good Mexican tapas with a fun atmosphere! The queue does get quite long, but they give you buzzers so you know when it’s ready and can grab a drink at the bar first. The guacamole was tasty! We ordered a few different things to share of tacos. The churros at the end though were rather disappointing and I was really looking forward to them. The ice cream for dessert was much better. They give you a little take home of a tiny thing of matches, but turns out it was actually just planters for growing your own chillies- very cute!

The food was excellent, the service was speedy. You can't go wrong with wahaca.

After not being able to get in here on Saturday night (don't attempt it, they also don't take bookings) we made it for Sunday lunch.
Overall the food was good (had better burritos though). It was slightly strange however that I ordered sweet potato side and this was served 5-6 minutes before the main course arrived.
The explanation for this is the food is made at different stations but I find this really bizarre as surely a side dish always goes with your main?.
However overall it's good value for money especially in London but make sure you visit on a quiet period or you could be waiting sometime!
V. K.
Cute location, beautiful service from the braziliano or Portuguese (can't remember) Andre ☺️☺️

Wahaca is amazing. It's a great place to go with friends. Casual but still fun enough especially for big groups. I went here with a group of 8 friends and the service was amazing. We all ordered different dishes and we got to try a bit of everything and it was all good. The dessert was worth trying and the drinks were unique and yummy. Overall a good experience.
T. T.
The place is cozy, but the Mexican food is not my cup of tea.
M. H.
I loved the margaritas and the street food. The dishes that the waitress recommended were great. But my complaint is that we ordered a dessert that had peanuts and asked that the peanuts were on the side, because one of our group has an allergy. They met our request but there were peanuts in the dessert too! If it wasn't for that I'd be really happy.
C. Z.
Great value for money. The food is tasty and authentic. I especially liked the burritos. I recommend the Wahaca on south bank. The atmosphere is cool (pop up style) and the terrace is very chill. I also like the graffiti all around the restaurant. 4 stars!
T. E.
Best variety of Mexican food, think tapas but Mexican style (if you don't like tapas and sharing don't worry, they're got a menu section dedicated to you)
They bought out some wrong dishes, but it was sorted out very easily, mistakes happen, how they dealt with it was excellent, so can't lose a star. Tasty, and well priced for London
D. R.
Absolute fine dining experience. Mexican made glasses, everything handcrafted from their motherland. The staff (and I've been to a few now) are always awesome, friendly, funny as and will entertain you selecting your meal/s. The food, just amazing, though I had to plate my Greece ensemble. Apart from that, great selection of wine and Mexican beer, great atmosphere (though Covent Garden is a real snotty town) and just an all round excellent choice for lunch and dinner.
M. K.
Decent Mexican food. The tacos are good. I'm only giving four stars because it's in the UK. Finding good Mexican in London is highly unlikely. This place is alright. To be fair, I lived in LA most of my life we great Mexican is everywhere.
K. T.
Friendly staff, food was okay - chicken tacos were seriously dry with some very old looking chicken. Other things like the cheese empanadas and fish Baja tacos were nice. The guacamole had some weird aniseed type taste to it and quite bland. I wasn't loving it I must admit. The drinks are nice, but they take too long to come out. It is a nightmare to get someone's attention - they were too slow to bring out the drinks or to even ask for some water. Really disappointed in the service. It was the second time I went and the same experience. I did enjoy the food overall, but service needs to be snappy and on point from start to finish. I still left a tip, as the waitress did work very hard. Food is not her fault and drinks were being made by others. They need someone to manage the entire operation and to oversee it all. Some people had excellent service - unfortunately it was us who did not that day.
P. E.
Got a table as soon as I arrived. Food was quick and delicious. We enjoyed the waitress company and professionalism. A young lady from Spain named Isabel. Thanks guys, i would not mind to repeat.

I think this is one of my favourite places to visit when I'm in London.
Its always busy & buzzing but the most I've ever had to wait for a table was about 20 minutes (admittedly that was a Monday night) But its a nice place to wait at the bar have a drink or two enjoy the music, the atmosphere and some nachos.
The food has always been really good and there is plenty to choose from. The street food inspired tapas style menu means that if you cant decide you can order lots of small dishes for the table and then try a bit of everything.
And also for a good restaurant in central London the prices are not sky high which is also nice
M. W.
Always buzzy atmosphere. Busy but helpful staff. Quick. Efficient. Fun. Reasonable prices for what it is and good selection of beers and tequila. Do yourself a massive favour and smash a fish burrito. A favourite of mine in this area.

I don't know authentic Mexican food from a hole in the ground but I do recognize quality. This place is amazing. The decor is a trendy take on traditional themes which adds to the atmosphere, but the real star is the food. I absolutely love the Street Food section of the menu; small samples of things that are perfect for sharing. They are right to suggest ordering 2 or 3 because they are just right for a snack on their own. I will definitely recommend the roasted chilli quesadilla if you are a spice lover like myself. It was hot, but held on to the deep flavour of the roasted peppers, and the feta set it off beautifully. The buttermilk chicken tacos are magnificent, cooked to perfection and with toppings that enhance the batter creating a full flavour that satisfies any craving. I finished off with the pork pibil tacos and they capped my meal in just the right way: the deep roasted flavour of the pork with bright notes of cilantro to keep things light. If the rest of the menu can match this? I don't think it's possible to have a bad meal here.
C. M.
Make a reservation or expect to wait for at least 30 minutes. I never expected to find great Mexican food in the heart of London, but I was pleasantly surprised. I stuck with 3 street tacos and a side (go for the sweet potato) and a margarita and that was a good meal for me
R.
Food was tasty, but the seating was really uncomfortable. I'm sure they do it to keep the seat turnover high, but when your paying the best part of £20 for a meal, it seems fair enough to expect that the meal doesn't come with a numb bum. (Discomfort was worsened that the the savoury food was delivered pretty quickly, but they're was suddenly a very long wait and sitting around for the churros.)
A. C.
Amazing food. We hadn't booked but they found us a table.
K. G.
Fabulous food!
I'm allergic to red onions and almost everything on their menu normally has red onions. The manager and chef came to the table and discussed my choices and what they could make safe for me. It was all superb.
So great food, extra helpful and friendly service.
We've eaten at Wahaca's Brixton and on South Bank too. Same story.
J. D.
Fantastic. We were in a rush to see a show and there was a wait, but we were delighted with how accommodating the staff were once we were in. They even offered to bring our bill before we had finished eating, so we could leave as soon as we were done. Fab.
Food was quick and tasted devine. Great Mexican street food with real Mecan flavour. Specials were interesting and the waiter was knowledgeable.
Expect to be close to, but not too close to, other tables, sharing the same benches. They have maximised the number of people who can be seated so it is very busy.
During a wait, a bar area is offered (not particularly quick service here) but there are very few seats.
Great prices and fantastic table service. We were right on time for our show and very, very happy. Recommended.
N. M.
Excellent Food, nice atmosphere.
I deducted a star purely for the difficulty to get a seat (reservations are rare). We went at 2:15 however and it was fine. I also deducted it for the occasional slow service. Still an amazing restuarant however.

Recommended to Wahaca whilst staying in London for work. Visited earlier this week and was definitely not disappointed! We ordered 7 or 8 of the small street food dishes between 2 people - this gave us a good amount of food with the opportunity to sample a good chunk of the menu and each item was delicious. Saved space for some freshly fried churros too!
We visited quite early so got seated ok but was full to bursting when we left (7:30pm midweek) so probably worth booking if you're planning a visit, especially as a bigger group.
A. A.
Food was much better than I remember. The waiting staff were attentive and quick during this busy lunchtime. I can definitely come back again. I was just disappointed to not see haloumi on the menu but there were plenty of other options to choose from.
A. M.
One of the best restaurant for Mexican foood
I. I.
It was one of the best food experience and I would strongly recommend, not to miss this experience. Food was great and most of all service was top of the range. Prices are very affordable and will not break your wallet. Enjoy
A. H.
I was super in love with Wahaca when it first opened but after a while the shine wore off a bit. I still do like they're food and it's pretty consistently good fare. The pork tacos are spicy delights of amazing. It comes close to hitting that Mexican food mark for this Expat though not quite. Even so, I do still enjoy their food. Warning: they do not take reservations and get very busy at lunch and dinner rush hours, so unless you like waiting for your table (and they won't seat you without your full party there), then get there early.
W. R. (.
This is a pretty big restaurant with a pretty long wait, which says how popular it is. They have some reasonable cocktails, and the food is well priced without being anything special. If you are on a budget, and want something fun then this makes a reasonable choice. Food is served at different times and tapas style, so don't expect anything too formal.
N. K.
Yummy! We had the Mexican Feast for two people and it was delicious and really a lot. It is quite noisy, so not for a cosy night out, plus with kids it's a little complicated. Although the staff was really nice.
e. m.
massive queue but you get put on the list, given a buzzer and can wait in the bar sampling the extensive section of tequila.
The decor is great and the staff friendly and helpful, the food is good but the portion sizes are on the small size. 3 small plates should be enough for 1 person but I'm greedy and go for 4.
Although I enjoyed the food its not the best Mexican I've had in London or the most original. I
D. C.
I used to live in Mexico and this restaurant does Mexican food justice, unlike so many others out there! The sweet potato and feta taquitos are incredible. There's usually a lively atmosphere with friendly, energetic waiters.
P. D.
I've popped in here with friends on a few occassions now as we all love Mexican food. The staff are always friendly and helpful, and service is never rushed even when busy. There is a good wide selection on the menu, tacos, burritos, wraps, salads. I personally love the Salad filled large taco bowls and the sharing platter for two offers tastey mix at a reasonable price. Despite being at basement level it still has a bright and airy feel, with the only downside being bad mobile reception, so generally try and meet friends outside before you go grab a table.
A. P.
Great placement even though it was really busy and there was a kid having a tantrum in the corner the staff were professional and looked after everyone. Would definitely recommend it and they offer a great veggie choice too! Only issue is that the bar staff don't give full options of nibbles so you can only have 2 of the 4 nacho options. The only difference between them is that the ones you can have don't include chilli (or veggie chilli)
C. D.
Popped in here on my own for a bite to head before a show at the Duchess Theatre. Glad I did. Nice relaxed atmosphere and by the looks of it, caters perfectly to both your lone diner (like me!) and larger parties
Server Paul was top drawer! Attentive without being annoying, great advice on both dishes, sides and drinks. Food was delicious. I had the Slow Cooked Beef Brisket Tacos, Chargrilled Steak and Cheese Tacos, Grilled Chicken Capotle Quesadillas from the small plates menu and a side of Frijolles. All washed down with a can of Brixton Reliance Pale Ale. All together £25. Brilliant. Would visit again!!
C. D.
Good burrito, and very good cocktails.

Brilliant food, drinks, service and great staff. Lovely service from Andre and others and really lovely being back in a restaurant. We'll be back.
D. O.
Always have a nice time here. Terrific affordable interesting Mexican food and lively friendly staff. No reservations.
Just visited again a few months later. Enjoyed it.
But PLEASE LET PEOPLE PAY WITHOUT FILLING OUT A FORM!!!!

Loved the street food vibe at Wahaca... they offer a set menu for two persons where you can try several different food items - including meat plates and vegeterian plates which were both equally great! Super chill and good value for money!

I really like wahaca, out of all the chains, I think it might be my favourite. The food is always fast, fresh and tasty. The branch is relatively new so no queues and we went for a tequila dinner so each of our courses was matched with a cocktail, great value for £20. Highly recommended
S. T.
Been missing Mexican food since left California. The tacos were just so good definitely going to be coming back
A. H.
Good food and great service. Very enjoyable meal
R. R.
Service here is great but portions are overpriced.
D. S.
Very nice, good food, good service.
S. D.
Good but it was very busy needs more servers the music is too loud as well
C. D.
Stunning Mexican chain that offers incredible flavours without costing the earth. Light and spacious dining area with attentive staff. Decent sized menu that offers flavours but doesn't overpower with heat. Tried quite a few of the dishes …
K. J.
Went here for lunch with my daughter, who is gluten free and my granddaughter, I'm vegan. Lovely menu with plenty of choice for all of us. Waiters were attentive and helpful, they took and prepared our gluten free and vegan orders …
D. B.
2nd visit menu didn't seem as big as the first time
A. K.
Four of us went here for lunch and loved it. I have been to a few Mexican restaurants but this is different. We ordered a selection of small dishes (a bit like Tapas but Mexican!) and they were mostly combinations I hadn't had before but …

I love this place!!

Very popular, very busy

The vegan food was delicious. I recommend

This was my first visit to Wahaca after hearing much hype about it, and I must say I was very impressed. The food is great, varied and very reasonably priced...I went for the Wahaca selection - a mix of street food plates to share for two and it was lovely! Especially the chicken & parmesan tostadas and sweet potato taquitos. The food just comes out when it's ready, so it's a great place to go with friends for a catch up.
The venue itself had nice decor, a nice ambience and the staff were really friendly. Will be going back for sure.
E.
Yum affordable mexican in a casual setting but still with nice drinks. They do some great set menu deals too. Good chain option if you don’t want anything too fancy.
S. H.
Great food. Went for the smaller sharing options. Was a little worried as didn't want to leave hungry however left feeling very full and satisfied. Recommend using the App which allows you to simply pay your Bill in your own time and don't have to wait for them to return. The app even allows you to split the bill between friends. Mobile signal isn't great as its underground however you can connect to there free Wi-Fi.
A. B.
Update: went back yesterday with friend. Food didn't rock it like last time and the young lady who brought the burritos to the table was quite frankly inattentive. Slightly rude if I may say so..No 5 star from me now..
Old review:
Looking for a Mexican experience led me and my colleague who is a nuts Tacos and Fajitas fan to find Wahaca on a whim. We had been walking around a lot this day and Camden market was up for works so this place popped up on Google maps with good ratings hence we decided to go for this. It was a very very good decision. The food was outstanding with my Indi mate having a veggie something which i dont care to remember but was excellent. I had a fantastic steak burrito and am going to go back for another sooner than anywhere else i have been.
We tried chileda and micheleda style beers, basically standard mexican beer with salt and lime (chileda) and salt lime and spices (michelada) and both were fantastic! very cool place to be, very busy but worth the wait.
N. E.
Brilliant food and service, highly recommend
Y. K.
Good staffs and good foods!
n. k.
Friendly staff and good cocktails. The food here is not bad but I have had better more flavoursome Mexican food in London . The staff was friendly and took time to explain the menu . Not bad for a quick bite .
T. P.
The food is fun, and small enough to encourage you to have lots of different things. The staff are friendly and often knowingly camp and it's very appealing that the fish is MSC certified and the chicken free range. It's always busy, especially on Friday and Saturday, so prepare for a wait.
B. T.
Great food and service. The menu is refreshed all the time. Although we went in a group it’s not the most practical as the place is small and tight and more geared towards smaller groups, couples and definitely not kid friendly.
S. D.
Helpful staff, lovely food. Would definitely visit again
R. M.
This place never disappoints! The food is incredible and freshly made, the cornbread you with goats cheese and chilli jam is amazing! The convenience of the quick pay app you can see your bill pay it and split it too!
M. B.
I thoroughly enjoy going to Wahaca to eat. The portions are great and the food is excellent. A large variety of choice for all kinds of tastebuds. Excellent place to go and eat with friends or family, keep in mind that the place does get very busy in evenings especially Friday/Saturday.
I. B.
I've been going to Wahaca since it first opened, and love it to bits. It's relatively inexpensive (although beware of over-ordering!) and the food is always reliably tasty. One thing to watch out for: Get there early on a Friday evening, as after about 6pm the queues start to go a little crazy.
C. S.
At the end of the day it's a chain, but saying that staff were nice, v friendly and efficient. The food is fine - tasty, but not earth shattering. Generally a good vibe in there too, so worth considering over other places in the area!
D.
Get the pork Biri burrito and thank me later. Just remember to turn up before 4:30pm or pre-book because it gets very crowded. Also say hello to Monica.
In all seriousness though, the atmosphere is great and the food is just massive so be ready for a long evening of stuffing yourself!
A. F.
Really good place to enjoy some tex mex food. I really didn't like the reservation system which don't allow for reservations of only 2 ppl. So we ended up waiting for a good 30+ minutes inside for a table. However, the food was fantastic. The fish tacos are my favourite and everything was cooked well. We can definitely recommend this place
A. B.
Went with a friend had my reservations but the staff were absolutely lovely and efficient and very helpful to one not used to the dining experience.
Possibly had the best burrito ever - so good in fact that i have just placed a cheeky request with a sous chef there called Jerome to pick something up on the way home!
A. R.
Fantastic dinner!
Ordered fish tacos, chicken burrito and brownie for dinner. Happy tummy!
