K. C.Tasty food that could have been better. Drink was 90% ice and waiter refused to take ice out and top off. Food was relatively overpriced for the product received and quality of food tasted stale and bland of flavour. However, the design and layout of the restaurant was decorative and aesthetically pleasing. Overall, would not recommend.

I always order the pecan brownie, it is the best brownie in London hands down!! The only reason I’ve given 4 instead of 5 is my steak and cheese taco came out relatively cold.
R. D.In my opinion, this was the best Chicken Buritto I've had! The food here was delicious and the quality of the ingredients was superb. I want to also mention that the interior designs of the lights and plants create a very nice spot to chill out with friends and family for a bite. The vegan options were very tasty too.

I recommend the crispy Cauliflower bites and buttermilk chicken tacos.
A. D.YUM new vegan menu and extremely friendly staff! The mushroom soft shell tacos, the new (no avo) guac (pictured is a taster of it kindly given to us by the staff) and the vegan enchiladas are very tasty. The staff is extremely hospitable as well.

Mr and my wife picked the veggie menu for 2 which gave us a great range of flavours and food to try for the first time.
What really impressed us is the flavours really popped and such a range of flavours, Smokey, sweet, sour sometimes all in one bite, really very impressed.

C. W.Great food as always at Wahaca. We were feeling adventurous and tried the cricket salsa (it was on the house). Kudos to Wahaca for trying tasty ways to raise awareness about sustainable foods - it was delicious! The fish tacoes are superb and the reason we keep coming back. Pulled pork was great as well though we did not realize there would be 3 of them! The grilled halloumi tacoes were a bit too salty but still quite tasty. Drinks are great and there are plenty of different options you can’t get at most places. Would definitely return.

S. W.I wasn't a big fan of Wahaca back in 2017 but it seems that the menu is a lot better, more varied and the tacos are really nice.
This is a really buzzy big Mexican in Angel, very spacious and a fun casual place to go to. I came here for the small plates and my partner and I enjoyed the chicken tacos, pulled pork/ smoky beef tacos and the club quesadilla. Our waiter was super friendly but unfortunately dropped 1 star because our food didn't come all together - we ended up having to watch one another eat as plates were only being served one at a time.
Would visit again but not in a rush to come back as want to explore the other sites. Good place to go if calorie counting as they have calories on menus now, would love to see macros information such as protein of dishes in the future. I wasn't a massive fan of the chicken enchiladas, unfortunately the meat was very grey and just didn't taste or look appetising - please use better quality chicken for the enchiladas dishes.
Other than that it was an average Mexican experience.

B. D.Good food, great service. I wanted to do some quick work-related scribbling but didn't have a pen. The waitress gave me hers. Also, she explained to me all the vegetarian options which helped me in ordering.

S. Z.The food quality is still the same. It was a pleasant experience visiting post lockdown. They had about 10-14 outdoor tables set up. A few tables were a little cramped. I would recommend to reserve a table online as a few people were turned away due to shortage of outdoor tables.
Only con is that the food prices have increased.

If you unable to decide what to choose, try lovely Wahaca selection (£13 per person)
It is quite big so if you are not hungry you can even share the one person's portion between 2 of you.
Also if you are fan of g&t you should try their Hibiscus g&t! Classic mojito is also very decent 👍
All in all, we've had a lovely time and paid only little over £20 per person with drinks

F. S.Wahaca keeps its high standards throughout its various locations, and it’s no different here in Islington; food is fresh (and uber delicious!), staff is friendly, drinks made to perfection!
In this visit we had appetizers, mains and churros for dessert, omg! Every plate was packed with flavor, and amazing taste combinations, I think I’ve finally converted my companion to the sacredness of Mexican cuisine!

It was a cold and rainy day outside but, as soon as we arrived, we felt cosy and warm (thanks to the lovely fairy lights too!). We ordered a glass of white wine and a vanilla & passion fruit cocktail - both were nicely presented and yummy! We also ordered a small plate consisting of sweet potatoes and feta - it was really tasty and flavourful!
Overall, great experience for us. I would definitely recommend visiting Wahaca Islington for pre-dinner drinks or just a chilled & relaxed dinner with friends!

The food was fresh Borito was good and the enchiladas were tasty. The cocktail was lacking alcool but overall it was good.
Sandra's customer service was the best. She was really thoughtful and super friendly. She made us feel at ease. She's a real trooper and Wahaca is really lucky to have a member of staff like her. she's an asset!

A. C.Nice comfy restaurant with a good atmosphere and nice cocktails. Food is good but not incredible. There is a good range of small dishes to choose from - perfect for sharing and sampling. Food isn't too spicy, but is spicy enough for a medium palate. Cocktails are yummy - highly recommend the piña coladas. Tacos are good. This is a good place for groups of people.

T. P.Warm friendly welcome from the door greeters and our server. Picante margarita was full of zing! Food was spot-on. It's not exactly authentic Mexican, but you should know that anyways. The dishes were executed perfectly and I told the kitchen team exactly that. They got a deserved round of applause from me and the front of house team. Really enjoyed the vibe at this Wahaca venue. The team obviously enjoy working there. 10/10
A. C.I used to dine here regularly many years ago before moving overseas and enjoyed every single visit. I must say alot has changed since then. I had lunch a few weeks ago. The sauces on the table are no longer served which added alot of flavour to the food. The burrito was Ok/Average. They’ve also taken the chicken nacho bowl salad off the menu which was a top hit. 🤷♂️ I think Wahaca needs to reconsider the changes!
E. C.I stumbled upon Wahaca walking home from work with a friend, and I am so glad I did! We were drawn in by the trendy atmosphere and patio, and a love for tacos. This place didn't disappoint! I love the tropical/beachy vibe of the place, and the food was even better. The restaurant is covered in vibrant colors that match the food, and the tacos were bright and citrus-y to match.

There is quite a range of food available, catering to vegetarian and Vegans alike. The staff are very attentive and polite. The cocktails are some of the best I have tasted in London. I recommend the "Passion Fruit & Vanilla Mojito"

E. J.Wahaca never fails. As a coeliac, I love that they make gf food separately and that the manager always takes the order, and serves it. This makes me feel safe and their tacos are just magnificent. They started with a few new tacos after the lockdown, aubergine and another with halloumi. Both great! My favourite still is the grilled chicken and avocado.
My only complaint would be their drinks, I don't think there's much love put into their cocktails/mocktails. I never liked when they water them out and overcharge you. The place would be a 5 🌟 if they had a designated bartender who knows good mixes.

D. T.A big fan of Wahaca however disappointed on this occasion. Reuben our host was good, however a changed menu meant there were fewer veg options. We went for the three cheese quesadilla, which was dry and bland. When I asked for some chilli sauce, I got told that they don't do chilly sauce, but that I'd have to buy the three sauces off their menu for £1.95, even though I didn't want all three! I am a fan of Wahaca, so will be returning. One bad experience definitely won't put me off dining at their restaurants!

K. C.Wahaca is normally one of my favourite chains, but my visit yesterday was disappointing for some reason - not sure if it's the location, if they were short-staffed, or just an off-day. Food took quite some time to come out and most of it was cold (or at least colder than normal) by the time it came to our table. It took us forever to get our bill and to get change - not a pleasant experience when we were needing to leave. I've visited other Wahaca locations before and have never had any problems with food or service, so not sure what was up. Besides being cold, the food all tasted great, which is why I'm giving the three stars instead of a lower rating.

Good veggie options and some good tequilas on the menu too! Only comment would be that we ordered lots of small dishes to share between 4 and they all.came out at once meaning several went come before we could start them. Would be nice if the staff had suggested ordering half then another half when we were ready. All very tasty though and reasonable prices.

Ambiance is cosy even though it's big and busy of course on a Saturday evening. We particularly liked the fried taco with sweet potato, unexpectedly delicious!

Menu offers an excellent range of larger dishes such as burritos or go for a selection of smaller tapas style dishes (I would recommend 2 and a half dishes per person) these include: tacos, quesadillas and other Mexican sides. All the food I've had there is exceptional and tastes so so good with the perfect amount of heat so as not to put off those with less of an appetite for spice.
Friendly staff and service, plenty of tables and amazing decor help make the experience even better and one of the best places to eat Mexican for a decent price.

B.went there for a function after party they hosted. Canape's and drinks were served. Almost all the canape's were vegetarian and one had crab or fish. They basically didn't cater at all for non-vegetarians. They had multiple drinks tables set up so bar line wasn't too bad. Service staff were good.

C. G.Wahaca’s food is utterly fantastic. Each taco I have ever had has a wonderful flood of flavor. I love the design of the locations as well. Service is a 4/5. Just depends on who you get. If you’re looking for the street food style Mexican, look no further. It’s just a tad bit on the pricier end than getting an entree somewhere else, but a winner nonetheless.

Good place for sharing a few street food dishes. They're not very big so you'll need three per person at least, together with drinks you'll end up with £20-25 each, nothing crazy but also no barbaba.

T. G. F. M.Service here is top qual and oh my god the food is great. The table got three mains; two Pork pibi pimped-up burritos and a Yucatecan grilled chicken and everything was super flavor filled and very filling. The place had a great vibe and looked cool too.
Wahaca has an extensive gluten free menu which is great for those with gf intolerance or Celiacs disease. I have the latter and when I told our waiter he was so understanding and accommodating. David (our waiter) said the gf meal would take a little longer to come out as the chefs cook the chicken on a different grill so there is no cross contamination, I was like "that's totes fine": it was so nice to be kept informed.
Defs recommend this place and will without a doubt go again.

M. R.We went here on a Saturday night and were in a real rush as we were late for a gig at the O2. The staff were great. Even though there was 9 of us, they got is seated quickly, took our orders and got our food to us really quickly. The food was great and the staff incredibly helpful. Really nice place

The vibe is nice at the Islington branch, however the staff are a bit average, not super helpful and often have to call them over. Otherwise pretty decent for cheap-ish Mexican and an easy choice.

I can't think of any specific aspect that distinguishes this restaurant particularly, however the whole experience is unique and it certainly deserves a try.

When i went we, however, couldn't download this app for some reason. And though we thought we'd all split the bill and included our suggested service one of us had forgotten a glass of coke while adding up. This left us £3 short on the suggested service (still over £10 as tip) but way over our actual bill. The waitress shouted after us and was very accusatory in telling us we'd underpaid. The service was ok, but not great and for a table of 4 they still had a very good tip. Given that a tip is discretionary I certainly don't expect to be spoken to that way because I'm a little short on what they suggest. They never asked if the service was ok just that we'd (accidentally may i add) short changed them on something I'm not obliged to pay. We all left pretty disgusted.

Don't expect traditional Mexican food here! From somebody who has lived in the U.S. very close to the Mexican border, I'd say their food is not even Tex-Mex. They don't seem to use the right chillies, spices and techniques (they don't even know how to make refried beans). Only true Mexican flavours I could get from a 3-person order: corn tortillas and Negra Modelo (beer). It's nevertheless fresh and good (apart from their tortilla tomato soup which was thick and tasted like tomato sauce).

M. L.I love Wahaca, straight up love it. I'd never been to this one though, Waterloo is my usual haunt and somehow this one didn't quite seem to live up to their standard.
Don't get me wrong, it was still good. Annoyingly the big plate pork pibil seems to have disappeared from the menu again, which in itself is a travesty. I can honestly attest to that being a serious contender for my death row last meal, so finding it unavailable meant I was almost inconsolable for the entire meal anyway.
Still, I held it together and made do with the little pork pibil tacos, which were great but they are a pretender to the throne of their big brother.
If you haven't been to a Wahaca before it's basically mexican street food style dishes, all fairly small. You order a few and eat them as and when they turn up. I've always really enjoyed eating at the Waterloo branch, the menu changes enough to keep things fresh. Having said that, in this location you are spoilt for choice for similar dining opportunities so I don't know how they compare to all the other mexican restaurants along the street.

I would say the atmosphere is actually cosier and more intimate than the other ones, and service is a slower pace (not necessarily a bad thing, as sometimes it can feel quite rushed at others!), and there is a small area where you can get a tequila mojito and play some fussball whilst waiting for your table. Upper St has many Mexican restaurants now, but this is probably the best.
