Reviews of Wahaca Waterloo
S. S.
The atmosphere is very lively and the staff are friendly. I ordered a chicken enchilada which was nice. We had a slight issue with one of our food orders. We ordered a vegan dish but they put regular cheese on. The staff did apologise and we were given a free dessert.

Before I begin, please note I'm not a chef or a trained cook. Strengths: aesthetics & environment looked good, clean, & vibrant. The "paying online at table" is a plus. The cheese chili balls were good too. The service was good. I was checked on by 3 different persons.
Areas of improvement: I ordered the grilled chicken burrito ultimate. It looked good, but the tortilla was cold. I get the "street food" theme, but even street vendors keep the tortillas warm. The burrito filling had a "cajun blackened" pepper texture & taste. No other flavors really came through. The peppers were a mixture, gritty & heavy. The recipe & construction needs work.
My other concern was the seating & spacing during a Covid-19 time. It felt crowded. Several groups.

Great service and food. I’d eaten at Wahaca previously, and came with two friends. Our waiter Cris was really helpful and attentive, especially to my food allergies, and it was made clear what was nut free and gluten free - they have plenty of vegetarian and vegan options too. Will definitely go back, and would totally recommend.

Wahaca was always one of our regulars (at Canary Wharf) before Covid. Haven’t been there for a while - since 2019.
We ordered a takeaway for delivery - menu has changed quite a bit since we last ate there - But we weren’t disappointed. Each dish was lovely.
Highlights were the plantain & feta taco’s and chocolate pecan brownie with dulce de leche
(Pork & Chicken taco’s were great too).
The only thing they could improve is to offer sour cream on the side and extra sauces.
Still one of our favourites though!
Also appreciate the bio-degradable sugar cane fibre packaging.

Delicious cocktails especially wahaca colada and passion fruit margetita, food also good just need more sauces. Our waiter Hecror was amazing very professional with great humor and really helpful. Highly recommended this place.

I've always been a fan of Wahaca. I have lived in Mexico for a few years and no one in the UK quite matches the food like this place. The restaurant at Waterloo has such a cute vibe and the waiting staff are absolutely lovely. They have the best adaptations of Mexican food to suit our vegetarian needs and I had a great birthday especially because the waiting staff came to the table singing to me and giving me free churros with a candle in it. This place is above and beyond. Their plantain tacos are delicious and they serve Pacifico Clara beer which tastes like sunshine - what's not to love?
C. R.
Our favourite Mexican, we’ve been coming here for years. Staff are always friendly and professional and food (meat & veggie options) always tasty. Every time we go there is always something new on the menu.

Lovely meal to finish a day out in London. The restaurant is right next to one of the entrances to Waterloo Station so perfect for getting the train home. The only downside about our meal was that some of the corn tacos were a bit on the dry side and not to my liking. The flour tacos and quesadillas were however delicious! Will definitely go back 😊
D. B.
Had a great time here with my son. Food was tasty and fresh, good flavours, great atmosphere, friendly and helpful staff. Great vibes. Will be back.
Try the Margherita!

This restuarant is absolutely fantastic! I came here after a matinee at the Old Vic and I'm beyond pleased with my choice!
The owner and staff was wonderful! Super friendly and helpful. Our table was offered a taste of fresh guacamole and it was delicious.
I ordered from the vegan menu and had the rainbow bowl. OMG IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! I can't describe the flavor of my meal and those sweet potatoes was everything!!! My drink was even on the house! I love this place and will be a faithful customer. EAT HERE! You'll be so glad you did!!! I can't wait to return!

I attended Wahaca Waterloo last night for dinner with my parents. We were delayed and missed our booking by 30 minutes. Despite initially being told there was a 20 min wait, Chris went out of his way to create a table for us within minutes using spare chairs etc. in the main dining area. Our waiter was Yemi who was extremely attentive, professional and entertaining. The food was excellent and only surpassed by the impeccable service.

Been waiting for this meal for ages, was super excited because of the reviews and been craving Mexican food for a while. Unfortunately the beef brisket and pork tacos had a weird aftertaste, the spices were not quite right, can't put my finger on it. Steak and cheese tacos were very bland. However battered fish and buttermilk chicken tacos were lovely and the wraps were slightly more crispy which makes a massive difference. TIP: the tacos should be crunchy not soft. Margarita didn't come in a margarita glass and had no salt on the rim which is the main ingredient needed for a margarita! The mojito was not very tasty either. Churros were really nice although the chocolate sauce that came with it was just gross. We (a couple) were seated between a massive group of people with running kids and a group of friends. Wish they'd seat us somewhere a bit more intimate, quiet. Overall I'd give food 2 stars but the staff was really nice and quick so I give it 3.
J. H. P.
Amazing service by Miko and good food. Was recommend the buttermilk chicken taco, and did not disappoint. Meal was brought out quickly and tasted fresh. Will surely visit again to try more dishes. A delight
D. D.
I enjoyed the food. Staff were super friendly. Not the first place I'd choose to go back to as there was better places for Mexican and/or tapas
E. L.
Great service and good value food
B. J.
Experience was OK but could have been better. The food was delicious but very small portion sizes - if you’re going to charge almost £6 for a portion of nachos at least serve up more than just 8 broken ones in a little pot… Likewise some of the other portion sizes of the sides were very small and lacking such as the sweet potatoes. I understand it’s street food and the set up is to deliver the food to the table as and when it’s cooked but we both ordered main dishes that arrived at completely different times which was unfortunate. One of us had finished eating way before the other one was served their main. The atmosphere was OK and the restaurant was generally clean and tidy. Our desserts took a very long time to arrive which was disappointing. Our server Miko was nice though and very friendly/polite. Overall we probably wouldn’t return.

🌮were not crispy I was deverstated I have dreamed of my first crispy taco and yet once again soft tortilla... lovely place accessible and corn ribs are genius
S. C.
An amazingly friendly atmosphere. Thank you so much to Eva who really looked after my needs and was patient and kind all the way. I have rarely ever encountered such good service. Thank you so much!
S. M.
The food was surprisingly good. This chain seems to be underrated but has some great food. We went ahead and ordered a few of the items from the street food menu. The spice levels were pretty good, something we always love and are looking for! The service is also really fast and the food was served really fresh.
S. K.
First time visiting a Wahaca Branch.
Staff were very friendly and they asked regarding allergies which is very important.
Lots of Vegetarian options which is brilliant, we ordered the Mushroom Club, Chicken Club, Patatas Bravas and a Halloumi and Pineapple Taco which was free. The Freebie was very very cold, it felt like because it was free they didn't care how it was presented? The Patatas Bravas were luke warm. The rest of the food was really nice especially the Mushroom Club which I would have again. We were going to order two lots of Patatas Bravas but we're adviced just to buy one because of the size.... We wish we had bought two lots as there wasn't enough to share one portion.
Ordered through person but had to pay through QR code which didn't work, so waiter had to do it on their phone which made us feel uncomfortable and stupid... Personally either order through an app and pay at the time or just order through a person and pay through a person, don't do a mixture.
Restaurant was clean and toilets were nice and clean which I always check.
Knocked a star off for the cold/Luke warm portions of our meal and also the QR system not working correctly (Side Note: I have paid via QR codes before so know how they work so I am experienced with them) so think many people will struggle to pay like this.
R. B.
Not accessible: requires you to go down stairs to enter and all toilets are also up 2 sets of stairs. However food was delicious( the plantain tacos fu©k my dude:well balanced flavour profile.), great service, multiple vegan, gluten free, and vegetarian options. Brought a vegetarian on a date and felt comfortable and confident instead of feeling limited as usual.
P. K.
Had a table for 4.
Delicious Mexican food in a great location. Their tequila selection is definitely recommended.
They did not have Corona beer when we went which is a bit crazy being one of the most iconic Mexican drinks.
Staff were not very attentive, had to call every time we wanted to order.
A. T.
This Mexican restaurant serves delicious food and drinks!! I ordered a tropical margarita, which was amazing!! You can order small platters, tacos to share and try! We ended up ordering too much, but they will offer a box so that you can bring the food back home! I wish more restaurants had the same initiative and not waste food!
C. B.
Food was awesome. We went when the restaurant was really busy and no reservation. We were seated really quickly. The service was a little slow which our server warned us it would be due to how busy it was. We had the sharing platters of street food. Every one of them was delicious. And u scan to pay so no hanging around unnecessary for a bill
S.
Pork pibil tacos to die for! Honestly a WOW food moment. Sadly everything else we had was quite standard and we had high expectations based off how much we love the supermarket fajita kits and sauces!!
S. P.
A great place to have a refreshing and delicious meal. I want that there is a focus on sustainability here along with very fresh food. Everything was delicious and very well balanced. Our server was very friendly and very helpful and helping find the right dish to have. Don't forget to order dessert and have the churros with chocolate sauce. It's also very nice that you can pay on the app and don't have to wait for the bill.
L. D.
I've never been here before and always walked passed this place. Friend and me decided to have lunch here and to my surprised the food was tasty. The restaurant does get busy so between 1 - 2 is packed.
They have lift going down for any people have difficulty using stairs. It can get very noisy hence the lost of 1 star as me and my friend had to shout at each other during our conversation which is a shame. Next time will sit by the bar area for a meal instead.
Would I go back = Yup
My pic are on my Instagram and Facebook page dieponfood check it out.
A. C.
Food was nice.
They were very busy and understaffed but service was friendly and accommodating. I think our server was Hector? And he was friendly as well as the bar staff.
The venue itself was a bit weird the table and chairs were uncomfortable cocktails were strong and nice
J. L. D.
This place never disappoints.Had a friends Birthday and they made sure to treat him extra special.Food was Great and the love the wide selection of Cocktails.🤙🏿😁
s. a.
Friendly and helpful staff. Food was tasty and delicious. Gorgeous Acapulco spritz too, would definitely go back.
r. n.
The food was incredible and came extremely fast. Our server was called Cris and he was very nice and helpful. My only criticism would be the smallish portion sizes compared to the price, however the quality of the food more than makes up for it in my opinion.
J. C.
Food is delicious!! Very well priced and good size portions. The pork pibil and buttermilk chicken tacos are fantastic! Beware, most things are a little spicy so if you can't handle spicy make sure to ask what is safe for you! The servers are very friendly and attentive. Highly recommend.
N. P.
I have wanted to go here for a little while and eventually took the opportunity while working in London. The restaurant was full but the staff made a table for me which was great. The food was really good. I had tacos, quesadillas and duck and sweet potato croquettes. The food was really tasty and came really quickly. If your in London give it a try, it's not fine dining just a solid good cheap place to eat. Good value for money.
S. T.
Rarely do I eat at a restaurant chain... just because there is so much more choice out there, but I needed a guacamole fix and this place was in the right place at the right time. We ordered from the street food section which were full of little bites packed with lots of ingredients. They were ok, but I think I would have been happier with just a bucket of guacamole and chips to satisfy my craving.
Wheelchair access: the branch in Waterloo is great. There is a step to get in, but they have a ramp and then a lift to take you down to the dining area, complete with an accessible toilet. Couldn't ask for more really.
M. V.
Great flavours, reasonably priced, friendly servers and a varied menu including veggie options and cocktails
P.
Will be going for the first time this afternoon (weather permitting). Checked out the menu and within a couple of minutes I know what I am going to order...I am giving 3 stars for now because I cannot post the review without giving a rating.
A. P.
For a chain, this wasn't too bad! But it wasn't great either. It was definitely a hit and miss. The tostada was great but the tacos were a little average. Service was okay - our waitress was super busy and juggled a lot of tables but it did feel like she would have preferred us to all eat at the same pace and finish at the same time even when their plates are all served at different timings. Not a bad place for something quick and easy but would probably wait another 9 to 12 months before visiting another Wahaca.
f.
Excellent experience, have eaten at Wahaca but never the Waterloo branch. Staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing.
Food comes out at different times due to it being tapas style, can lead to a lot of food arriving at once but we knew to expect this.
Everything was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. Would definitely recommend the crab tostada and the duck croquetas, also have the churros to finish as they are always perfectly crispy on the outside and still fluffy on the inside.
R. P.
Wonderful taco and burrito place, I had a problem with one of the items I picked out it just wasn’t what I expected and the server said no problem and I went with their recommendation. Really great experience.
If you are looking for a quiet place this is not it. The table next to you is literally 10 centimeters or 2 inches away in most cases. I meet a wonderful couple and they even gave me show recommendations.
E.
Love wahaca! Food is tasty, reasonably priced and filling. It's a restaurant I always come back to when one is near by. Good choice of food for those with special dietary requirements. Service can be a little slow if they are busy in terms of getting hold of your server.
K. S.
Amazing service and wonderful fresh food!
Love their margaritas!
Ania was amazing waitress! Thank you all for a great and safe experience! 🙏
G. L.
This is my fourth time going to a Wahaca restaurant and I’m glad to say that the quality and standard has not dropped.
Though the restaurant was very busy, our waiter Hector was very pleasant to us.
The drinks featured are available with the lunch special for £8.50.
Worth noting, Wahaca Waterloo DO NOT CHARGE a 10% or 12.5% service charge. It is completely up to you 😃
P. C.
One of my fav placs to eat out when I am in London. The food is amazing and not pricey. They also have a table football thingy, love that.
If you're not aware, you might be surprised by the noise, could be the only downside if you dislike that a lot.
W. C.
We had a great in this restaurant. We loved the wonderful ambience and the meals. The waiters are super attentive. I’m glad we finally managed to visit here.
Z. B.
Great food. Chilled code. Great service from our waiter, Wes. Their corn fritters are absolutely banging, must try. I ordered the battered cod Baja Tacos, those are my favourite. Highly recommend. They're sweet potato and taquito are also really good.
S. F.
Great service, arrived around 8pm on Friday without a reservation, there was a short wait but we were given a buzzer and told we could get a drink at the bar, we were seated quickly!
Very extensive menu, good choice of cocktails and excellent excellent service!
Food does come out a different times due to being freshly prepared, this is explained when you're placing your oder.
Food was great quality and platters are great for sharing over a few cocktails.
A. S.
Reliable chain style mexican. Food is good service on our last visit was average and didn't like how they added tip on the bill already for just a party of two as we wouldn't have tipped that much for the service we got.
E. N.
As someone who grew up in San Diego I was expecting terrible food, but this place was an absolute delight!
Get the pork tacos! And the plantain tacos! And they have real guac (which isn't always common in places outside of the southwest US).
Their wine was decent and they had a basic tequila menu. It's worth a visit for sure.
C. R.
Fantastic experience especially our waiter Sabi who was as friendly and efficient as any waiter could possibly be.
B. S.
We had a table of 10 with two toddlers and we had a great time :) Staff were friendly and helpful, and we felt looked after and lots of smiles all round - thank you. Food was tasty and well presented. This Wahaca is a stones throw from Waterloo station, and a short walk to the South Bank, so great for lunch meetings with an explore and walk afterwards.
S. M.
Delicious food, attentive staff, interesting drinks. All-round good experience, as you would expect from Wahaca!
Only 5 minutes from its Southbank sister but without the staff attitude problem!!!
Thank you for looking after us so nicely :)
V. B.
Was a bit disappointed.
They had no Piña Colada or Devon Crab Tostados.
The cheese n chilli croquettas, 2 out the 3 had no filling and our black beans and sour cream arrived after we had finished eating and as it was a side there was no point in eating it.
Was not happy at all as I had been really looking forward to it 😒😒.
G. E.
Absolutely amazing, Great traditional Mexican street food, Oh and the cocktails are nice too!!!
K.
Great service from Thomas. Very accommodating, we came in late, but was still very thoughtful and welcoming.
J. C.
Food was overpriced and the service was so/so. I wouldn't call this authentic Mexican food but it's a decent attempt at hipster Mexican food I suppose. Margaritas were tasty but took longer than our food.
A. s.
Very nice staff and good food! Though the portions served are less in quantity but good food indeed! Mexican food. Their chicken tacos are the cutest and amazing in taste. If you want good Mexican food in London, should visit this place.
M. S.
Went last night. Honestly the best drinks and food!!!. The drinks were absolutely amazing. If I go again I deffo want that bartender making my drinks!!! 100% recommend!!!
m. p.
Quick bite food place, food came out quickly even when it was a busy time and day when I went. Basic food taste but nice
m. w.
We had a lovely Mexican meal, value for money when it comes to London prices and Hector was brilliant with us because we didn't know the menu 5 stars to Hector from my sons
T. S.
Great food, great service (shoutout Vemi), great vegan cheese, and great dark chocolate :)
G. T.
The specific Wahaca is below ground but still they have done wonders with the place. Joyful atmosphere, friendly staff, quick service and tasty food.
What more can you ask for?
J. O.
Pretty good Mexican food with a nice environment.
I went here with a vegetarian friend, we both got burritos, mine was the chicken tinga. The bar staff rushed us a bit to place a drink order while waiting for our table. Our waitress was charming and able to answer questions we had about the menu. This is a great place if you're meeting someone coming into the city via Waterloo Station. If the wait is long, you can grab a drink at the bar or utilize the foosball table in the entry. Our table and a few nearby all ordered passion fruit margaritas, it seems like the winning drink if you want to treat yourself.
A. F.
Good food and quick efficient service. Spacious premises so good from a virus point of view. Recommended
F. G.
Great location nest to London waterloo station. Relaxed atmosphere. Amazing food, if you love mexican food then this is the place for you! Affordable prices too. Although this is a chain restaurant. I can't say anything bad about it.
D. P.
Nice service, good food and nice beer. Some interesting dishes on the menu so you can get caught out trying something different that you might not like, but that's the fun of trying new foods (and you may well find a new favourite dish as well). Would go again.
W. R.
From arrival signage and layout reassure you that they are taking cleanliness and social distancing seriously, but it did little to diminish the familiar buzz of conversation and people enjoying good food in a relaxing atmosphere.
Understandably, food took a little longer to prepare. We weren't in a hurry, but our waiter kept us well informed about timings and made sure our 10 year old was served first. The food and drinks were as delicious as always and contributed to a fun night. All in all a good choice for our first meal out together for quite some time!
O. M.
Excellent quality meal and excellent level of service today at Wahaca Waterloo Road. Our waiter, Chris, was particularly good - thoughtful and very responsive. We'll be back!
J. M.
Nice atmosphere and great staff and service but I was really impressed by the quality and value of the food. I look forward to returning.
T. S.
Great food but Service is a little slow, probably due to being understaffed. Could have spent more money!
J.
You can’t go wrong with this place. Be sure to order the Pork Pibil, it’s fantastic. Being from California I was not expecting this place I’d be nearly as good as it was. Super friendly staff as wel.
S.
Very tasty meal here this afternoon. Pork pibil burrito with the extra side of nacho's. Service was very good, nice friendly staff and payment can be made at your leisure via an app. Great food and the decor is excellent. Highly recommended.
F. K.
An amazing Mexican food restaurant that delivers again and again! The service there is quick and the food is incredible, I also strongly suggest getting the Passion Fruit Hibiscus Cooler when you visit. Overall if you're looking to grab some good mexican food, look no further than Wahaca!
S. B.
Beautiful enchiladas i had with hibiscus margarita (the best) with corn and side salad everything was Fantastic, definitely coming back the waiter mr.marco was very friendly with a good knowledge of the menu
N.
Street food feeling, but within the comfort of a restaurant. Fun and tasty.
L. C.
Great evening out at Wahaca!
Huge selection of food at great prices, with plenty of tapas and some set menus too. Really friendly staff - listen to them if they tell you they think you are ordering too much food, we ordered waaay too much, but they will give you take out boxes at the end of the evening!
Brilliant jugs of margarita too!
D. B.
As an ex chef and someone who just genuinely loves good food, I was 100% satisfied with this meal (which is rare 😅). Hats off to the chef and a special thank you to our friendly and helpful waiter, Duane, who made the experience even more positive. I will be coming back for more!! 😜😁
J. H.
Great food! Like an American Tex-Mex! Try the Sweet Potato Feta! Awesome flavors and you get to try a lot of food for a decent price
C.
Absolutely delicious food, staff were great and very friendly. Inside the restaurant was beautiful!
T. R.
I eat in this great spot often! This is the best place to dine. I go to this spot many times. The food is fantastic, the crew is friendly and the payment is good. I enjoy meeting in this place over a good meal.
B. M.
Honestly, what a great little find of a venue! :-) there's incredible veggie options, the cocktails are delicious too.
However, the highlight of the evening was by far the service from Domenico -- he was so attentive and kind and had great suggestions from the menu too.
Thanks again Domenico & team for a great dinner!
v. w.
Loved the food, but the restaurant was very, very loud, which spoilt our experience a little. Not sure if it was because it was a Saturday evening; we've been to Wahaca in Islington before and didn't have any noise issues there.
S. H.
Love the food, the atmosphere and the service here. Have been visiting for years. Very impressed with the one way system and social distancing between tables - they actually seem to keep an eye on diners who might not be following. And want to see you've checked into the NHS app if you have it (if you don't, they just take details).
B. P.
Had a lovely late night meal, the sort of tapas style lets you try lots of different things and really get a good sampling of everything that's on offer. Everything was excellent but the buttermilk chicken taco was by far my favourite. Place is busy and lively, but the service is fast, attentive and friendly.
And they had beer with a Luchador in a suit on the label, which is absolutely fine by me.
C. O.
Delicious food and great portion sizes. Our waiter was Hector and he was fab. Very patient with all our orders and really attentive checking everything was ok and that we had enough drinks etc.
D. C.
Great food and fantastic service. Will definitely be back!
S. J.
Very Covid secure location when we went. Excellent service from Duane at the front and our waiter Dom. Duane was clearly and cheerfully explaining the organisation of the restaurant to everyone who arrived at the restaurant. We were impressed with the amount of detail. Both he and Dom were on hand the moment we needed anything and were really polite and helpful. Well done guys!
N. W.
Never had Tapas before - however this absolutely blew my mind! I thought I knew what food tasted like until I tried some of their dishes!.. I genuinely didn't realise food could taste this good!
This was our first meal of a 5 day holiday in the city.. we was that impressed that we rebooked it for the last day of our hoiday on the spot too. The ONLY downside is that the restaurant is below ground level and they had to close / cancel our second booking due to flooding after very severe weather :(
S. B.
Conveniently located across the street from Waterloo Station, the food is good and the staff are pleasant. As a vegetarian I can't speak on the menu extensively but I do enjoy the vegan/vegetarian options on offer. A nice place to meet friends for casual dining.
G. B.
Gluten free menu that's quite extensive! Lovely staff and speedy service, what's not to like?!
K. W.
Great venue, friendly staff and reception. Food reasonable priced and good portion sizes. Only downside was it was so loud in there, to the point I couldn't hear my partner talking.
T.
Food was good and staff were ok, took some time for me to receive my churros, my friend managed to finish their food and drink before it showed up..
Food was really nice though and normally they faster with food so I bumped it up from 3 to 4 stars
N. G.
Nice food. Great service from Estaban. Lovely atmosphere in the place too.
E. R.
Wow! Impressed with this Mexican Restaurant here in London. Very good food.
W. L.
Very neat and welcoming restaurant. They offer large meals and for fair prices. We loved the meals very much and the staff were very friendly and chatty. I recommend this place.
N. C.
Good Food, mediocre service, as they missed a few of my requests. (It was very busy)
x. t.
Nice food, although mine was just warm, nice atmosphere
P. S.
Yum, had a lovely steak burrito with cheese. Note the cheese is crispy and on the outside of the roll
J. T.
They managed to fit us in on a busy night, and the food and staff were fantastic.
R.
Not usually a fan of chain restaurants especially Mexican but these guys were great. Phenomenal service and great food.
P. C.
I had my first Wahacca experience here about 8 years ago and it still blew my mind... The food was fantastic, the staff were phenomenal, Dom and Christian were class, no other place for me...
S. G.
Going to the Old Vic ? Drop I here first !! Bustling lovely restaurant. Food was delicious and served up quickly. Service very very good. We were advised on the specials and also told about different ways to order off the menu depending on how hungry we were. We chose a few small plates to share which I'd recommend. Would definitely eat here again.
A. T.
Came here on a Monday night, it was busy and we had to wait for 10 minutes, however, the atmosphere was really nice. Staff were really great; menu had lots of good options. Food tasted superb, drinks as well. Would definitely come back here.Took us through the menu and explained some of the dishes. Ended up with delicious beef taco
C. I.
The service is not great, but the food is very good.
H. W.
Very nice food good prices staff are very nice wold come here again
P. T.
Excellent food, staff ultra friendly
E. M.
Great Mexican street food served in this restaurant. Food and service were fantastic Our server took his time to explain all the dishes and how and what to order. We chose a selection of small sharing plates which were full of flavour and a great choice. Also has a great cocktail menu. Very good value for money. Always really enjoy Wahaca - the staff are friendly and the food is tasty and filling. Special shout out to our server Marco, who was really attentive!
J. O.
Super good food. Hector was an amazing waiter!
S. M.
This is a super cool looking restaurant with a great vibe. Our server, Fran, was very friendly and enthusiastic. Our food was delicious. Our daughter had the steak tacos and she said that it was the best ever! We ordered a lot of little plates and churros for dessert. Everything tasted delicious! There were quite a lot of vegetarian options available, so this restaurant's menu will fit a variety of dietary needs. Our server was even so gracious and thoughtful to ask if we had any allergies or dietary concerns before ordering. When I go back to London, I will look to eat here again and highly recommend it for a delicious and fun time!
M. G.
The interior of wahaca is nice it was a good experience, however the churros are dry and bland
L. N.
The food was pretty good. The service... Well... I can't believe a server would say "yes I think that ingredient is present" instead of checking back and coming with a confident answer. My friend have been to another branch and even the manager went to her table to find and option or substitute for the ingredient my friend is allergic to. Also, I had to wait more than 15 minutes for an ice-cream when they were not busy at all and without any apologize for the waiting.
K. S.
Great food, good prices and our server was very helpful and even took some time to help us since I was with my 3 year old daughter and a pregnant wife. The ambiance is very appealing and seems like a good place for a Friday night dinner with a date or with family. Food was delicious and you have many vegetarian options. Drinks were a bit expensive but the food more than made up for it.
C. M.
Great as always. Love the food, service and reasonably priced.
O. H.
Great vibe, great food. The hot sauce is 🔥

Food 5/5: Great tasting Mexican dishes. Great range of dishes to choose from
Drinks 5/5: Great selection of cocktails all tasting great!
Staff 5/5: Staff always super friendly
Prices: 4/5: Prices a bit on the "north" side. For a place which has now become technically a chain, prices could be slightly lower. Still not enough to reduce it to 4 stars due to the staff which is really friendly and really nice food
J. T.
This place is great, quality Mexican cuisine. Nine of us went for a lunch time meal. The staff are fantastic and nothing was too much trouble and they seemed like they enjoyed their job. Me and another family member had a set meal for two (£36) and there was so much food! There were two vegetarians with us and they were well catered for. Also there was a lovely busy atmosphere. It was perfect for our day out in London. It's just a shame there isn't a wahaca nearer my home.
R.
Edit in response to owner: we were actually given a good table but were downgraded as the place got busier. We had two tables and a bench which backed up against the wall. There was also a narrow bench with no back that went along the side of one of the tables. The staff said we had to move along and one of us had to sit on the uncomfortable bench with no back that was right next to another party's table. This also meant that there wasn't enough space on the table for all the food because it was a 2-person table with 3 people on it. I don't know how an extra chair could've helped because of the layout, and there weren't any extra tables when we were asked to move.
Food was good and staff were friendly and attentive. The tables were really cramped and uncomfortable though. We had to swap seats in my party several times because one of the seats started to hurt if you sat more than 15 minutes there. On top of that there was no noise insulation between different parties, which meant everyone had to speak up to be heard, which meant other parties spoke up to be heard and it was just this horrendous escalation that stopped us from enjoying the meal :(
C. E.
Food was delicious, our server Nelson was very friendly and helpful.
F. W.
Great, yummy food and good value for money. Easy to share dishes with your friends. The waiter was funny and looked after us really well. It was my friend’s birthday and they brought out dessert with a candle on as a surprise!
K. S.
Great selection of food, food was fresh and hot. Service was fab and friendly
V. B. H.
Food was exquisite. Normally, I am skeptical to the quality of food at chain restaurants (I see their purpose/value and don't dislike chains, but they do have their limits) but Wahaca's food the day I visited was flawless. Everything we received was congruent with what was described on the menu and it tasted wonderfully.
For a restaurant located that central at Waterloo, the prices were not bad at all. Not the cheapest, but for the food we received I was happy paying what we paid. Service was also good, nothing spectacular but perfectly fine.
One complaint is that the place was so packed (for good reason) that it was hard to hear what my party was saying - this is to be expected at a chain restaurant at peak hours, but nevertheless, it did impair the experience slightly.
We were also asked to rate all the food we were given on an iPad, after the meal, which I thought was unnecessary. I understood that the feedback is valuable but the UI of the rating system wasn't intuitive enough for it not to be a hassle, and it felt like a chore.
But, it was still a very positive experience and I will definitely be back.
R. O.
Staff were very friendly and attentive, the food and drinks were good. It’d be nice to have more fish options!
M.
Like all Wahaca restaurants the food was good. Service was okay, there was a mixup with our table, which they apologised for and gave us complimentary snacks. Tables are close together and as the dining area is in a low ceiling basement the noise level was very high. Unable to hear each other speak we left after the main course and went to another restaurant for desert and drinks.
S. N.
Small entrance off street, but large restaurant downstairs - or via the lift, which was important when after an eye operation someone couldn't look down. You can play table football upstairs while waiting for a table and wash hands in the sink. The menu changes seasonally and is great if you are veggie as the range of dishes is good and varied. Try the specials too as for every dish they sell a contribution is made to a charity helping kids in Mexico. Good venue to meet friends early evening, but it can get incredibly busy at peak times.
A. S.
Amazingly good. The food is more spicy than in actual Wahaca (or Oaxaca), from my experience, but still very tasty.
Their "set menu" is actually more like a tapas, and perfect for two. You get to try around 5 or 6 different dishes.
Also, make sure to try their hot chocolate and churros.
Highly recommended. Would come back.
R. S.
For a chain restaurant we had a really good experience at the Waterloo Wahaca. Our waitress couldn't have been more friendly and helpful. We had a 'Favourites' sharing menu for two which took away any need to make decisions. The food was really tasty and so were the cocktails that we had. I recommend the vanilla and passionfruit mojito!
C. D.
Tasty food and very busy, hence we were lucky that we had booked. The menu is quite varied Mexican with each dish that we tried cooked really well. The drinks are slightly on the expensive side and the food is perhaps priced slightly above what you may expect, but given the location overall it is not too bad price wise.
There appears to be quite a wide choice for vegitarians.
The place was kept clean and the waiting staff helpful.
S. S.
First time here and it was fantastic! Once you get used to how it works (staff were great for advice) it's brilliant. Food tasted great and was just the right amount per plate too. My only complaint was that it was really noisy, mostly down to other patrons all trying to talk in the open plan seating area. Will be back some day!
D. M.
Great food, weak cocktails
S. P.
We had nachos and cocktails. The nachos were delicious and we really enjoyed the cocktails. The only issue we had was that our table did not get any attention until I got up and spoke to the waiter. After that it was perfect.
H. R.
The food here is absolutely delicious and they have loads of great Vegetarian dishes! I came here with my parents and we shared a tapas-style menu option, and we all had plenty of food and choice despite the fact that I'm veggie and they're not! The cocktails here are great too - I would definately recommend.
E. C. R.
Good food, good drinks. Nice decoration and cozy. The waiter was very attentive and fast. Overall very positive experience. Will be back.
A. T.
Had lunch with a friend - good outside seating - very friendly staff. The salad was pretty good and was in a Taco bowl - was just a bit too oily - drain the oil off properly!! However good value had the lunch deal which was the Taco bowl and a lovely mint and lime drink for £8.
R. d. A.
It's a Wahaca. It's busy, it's tasty, it's fast, it's efficient, it's fairly priced, it's veggie and vegan friendly, it's gonna be great if you go with the right people. it's gonna be rubbish if you don't. Perfect for a casual drink and dine, business lunch, or group meetup. Use their handy app to sort your bill out and get everyone to pay for their own stuff. Why doesn't every restaurant have this?
S. S.
For London, this is pretty good Mexican food. I grew up in California so the bar is set pretty high. I really enjoyed the beef brisket tacos with the fried cheese on top. It was one of my favs. The food is flavorful but doesn’t have much of the Mexican spice I’m used to. The horchata is not very good but the food hits the spot despite not being very spicy.
M. G.
Great food, good wine, what do you expect? 😄
S. V.
First time at Wahaca Waterloo yesterday. Not my favourite of their branches. There are two sections with tables: The front near the bar where you're close to the door and the cold air coming in, or the back where you're crammed in with loads of others and it's really noisy. Food and drink was usual Wahaca standard, so nothing to complain about there. I just think the layout needs a bit of work to create a nicer environment to dine in.
R. F.
A great Mexican restaurant (though not really authentic) right across from Waterloo Station. It has a fun vibe and the food is very tasty. It is normal that each person in the party pick 2-3 small plates and share, making the options for your meal almost endless. The flavours are fresh and they have fun combinations of different foods.
S. P.
Not bad food but, to my mind, overly expensive prices. Fairly big portions (three of us shared a platter for two and it was quite enough for lunch when accompanied by a guacamole dip and some tacos). Water is served at the table. Service is brisk but they bring plates when they're ready rather than necessarily allowing you to eat together
R. V.
The steak was amazing! Super tender!
Good attentive service, big range of food, loads of tequila, and well located. I would definitely go back here again.
Wait time was about 20mins for 2 people that hadn't booked at 18:30 on a Wednesday evening, not too bad!
M. L.
This was a damn good Mexican make no mistake, we were seated quickly despite being told we were looking at a 40 minute wait, it was probably only actually 10.
Tuesday night but the place was packed, usually a good sign. Our waitress was efficient and explained the menu well, we ordered a bunch of dishes. My bestie is a veggie and she was very impressed with the selection of vegetarian dishes available.
The food arrives as and when it's ready, it's not ordered into starters and mains and your whole party probably won't get your food simultaneously. Just relax and take it as it comes.
Everything we ordered was delicious. Two of us racked up a bill of around £45 and it was worth every penny.
a. c.
Went for dinner on a Thursday, the food was amazing. We had really good table service from our waiter Ainhoa. She made us feel welcomed & comfortable. Will definitely be going again.
P.
Very nice wahaca, beautifully decorated interior and super friendly staff. The food is fresh and delicious. Even though this particular restaurant is very busy there is never a long wait. The acoustics are not that great (very noisy) and the benches not very comfortable to sit on. Overall a great option though.
R. B.
Attended a large event at a local hotel, had a late lunch served there. Came here after as part of a large group, we needed to eat (before traveling home) but weren't that hungry. Felt looked after by the staff, but not pressured.
Liked the atmosphere, seemed to be a popular after work venue.
Menu catered for both large and small appetites.
Considering I wasn't really hungry I really enjoyed my visit.
A. U.
It was a bit annoying at the beginning, our waiter was busy for a while but no other waiter would pay any attention.
Later when he came, our waiter George was very polite and quick, that was great!
The food is a weak 4/5, it was good for 1 time but given any alternative I wouldn’t choose to come back.
Inside it was very noisy.
J. S.
Love it. It is a chain but offers great Mexican/fusion food at really good prices. Great if you like spicy food. The plantain tacos are out of this world.! There are several Wahaca in London but even if they retain the same spirit all are decorated different.
Great quality-price! It is always pretty busy but less than other branches.
N. D. (. R.
Favourites is the one!!!! Loving the Grilled Mushroom & Cheese tacos
D. W.
Cracking food, wonderful staff and a brilliant atmosphere. We loved it, and so did our 9 year old - Build Your Own Tacos from the kids menu were a big hit!
Menu can be a bit daunting if it's your first visit, but the friendly staff guide you through it and you can't go wrong with their recommendations. Definitely our go-to restaurant for the rest of our stay in London!
M. J.
Wahaca is a nice and reliable chain restaurant, definitely on the better end of the scale of mexican chains. The vegan menu has loads of options, and the staff are keen to check that not just the ingredients but the preparation methods are appopriate for your diet, which shows a good level of attention. Had one small issue with the waiter forgetting one of our drink orders, but they were very busy and then very apologetic, taking it off the bill. Thanks!
J. K.
First time visit the chain. Staff really nice but not over the top pretending to be your best mates. Plenty to chose from (and I'm veggie now as well). Food great, prices reasonable. Gladly left a tip and would visit again. Try the salad that comes in a tortilla (?) bowl!
D. “. Z.
Nice service, good food, too noisy!
T. H.
Always a pleasure to go to any Wahaca. Especially good with allergies, as they have a menu listing all the foods and their allergens. Don't know if it's common practice, but the manager prepared my meal both here and at Wahaca in Islington, as I had an allergy. Good value for money.
S. S.
Fast service, awesome staff and some of the best food I've had in a long time, couldn't recommend it more!
s. b.
We are here three times this trip. Awesome and fresh, gourmet Tex Mex. Margarita is out of this world delicious. Service outstanding. Very Kid friendly, great kid menu. Earthy-crunchy vibe. Interestingly, pay on your cell phone. Multicultural, yes.
T. L.
Latin American/Mexican food! The first time I visited 4 years ago, it was a pleasant experience and I had a burrito which was a safe choice, simple but good. However on my more recent visit early August 2017, I had their street tapas, which is amazing! They advise 2-3 tapas for a meal, 1 for a light snack. It was dinner time and I chose the buttermilk chicken tapas, plantain tapas and a side of re-fried black beans- the latter 2 really spoke to my Nigerian taste buds and the African influence in south American culture and cuisine. I could eat those beans again if I had the chance.
It was very noisy (Friday night?) but has a lively vibe, great central London location and good facilities (bar, nice toilets). You can book in advance but we just turned up and the wait was 15-20mins, so not too bad. You can dine with family, and the great menu options for sharing dishes can facilitate a fun dining experience for children and adults alike.
S. C.
The food was very good. It seemed to have more of a Californian flavor. The sweet potatoes were very good as was the chicken burrito. Our server, Hector H. was GREAT: very personable, kind, engaging, and great with our kids.
B.
Nice atmosphere. Server was very friendly. Food was delicious even someone in the party who didn't think they liked Mexican food enjoyed it! Margaritas were very good.
I. B.
Very nice Mexican street food, small dish sharing style. We enjoyed it a lot. Service was good too, so we will definitely come again!
V. S.
I enjoy the atmosphere and the food which is reasonably priced. Our waiter was very friendly and tentative. My only issue however is that they'll put 3 people on a small table next to another small table of 3people which already has half the table space taken up by condaments and then end up piling all your drinks and the small plates of food in every nuck and cranny of your table. At one point i was almost on the verge of storing some of the plates on my lap as there was no where to put everything on the table and comfortable eat your food. Efficiency gone crazy I think.
M. D.
Great service, Fran was so fun! Food was delicious, good right size portions to share. Rib eye tacos were great except for non meat bits - fat, cartilage. Churros were just ok.
A. B.
Based on the food and service I would want to give it 4.5. I never have a bad meal there. The food is excellent, will never let you down. Have to knock off a little because it's very noisy. They pack a lot of tables in there but that's because it's popular as it's food is great. If you want views then go-to the Wahaca on the Southbank. You will probably have to wait longer for a table so we always goto to the Waterloo one.
J. M.
Lovely food, in fact amazing food! Place was busy and had a lovely buddly atmosphere. Waited about 10 mins for a table, no problem for me! Staff couldn't do enough, once i said i had an allergy, they litterally went out of their way to do what they could, brilliant. Will be back soon
E. G.
Great restaurant. Attentive staff. Food was lovely. It was child friendly (high chairs and baby change facilities) but there are steps down to the restaurant so it may be awkward with a buggy. I will definitely be returning.
E. P.
As always a really good experience at a Wahaca. Good varied food and very polite staff. I especially enjoyed the Plantain dish, something I wouldn't normally have but was part of the platter for two.
A. Z.
Cool deco and vibes for casual luncheons with friends. The food is good but definitely not authentic Mexican (speaking from someone who used to live in Texas). Price is very reasonable if you have small appetite like me and just ordered a taco and a side (comes up to around 9-10 gbp). Service is fairly quick.
A. G.
Great value food. The service was fantastic & the food was of very high quality. Would highly recommend to anyone who enjoys Mexican cuisine. Just a shame there isn't a restaurant closer to us in Scotland.
S. T.
Normally love wahaca and it's a great place to go for a fairly quick easy meal. Went for dinner with friends in Waterloo (not the southbank one) and ordered set menu street food. The waiter advised us that he could pick better dishes than what was offered so we went with his choices. This was far too much food and was not included in the set menu price and ended up spending a fortune compared to what we normally get. Just be warned that the waiters arent always given their expert advice on what you might like, but are probably upselling whatever they can!!
S. C.
Had an hour here before the theatre opposite. The service was quick and the food came as it was ready. We were done in 40mins having had a main and three side plates between us. You can even pay on their app as soon as the waiting staff have punched it in their POS system so no waiting for the bill. The app is good, you can split the bill however many ways and pay for individual items if required. More restaurants need this.
j. 1.
Great food, great service & good quality in Mexican food' 👌🏼
S. B.
Fran was an excellent service and delivered not only the delicious taste of Mexico to our tables but also his endearing personality and helpful suggestions. Even after a waiting time due to business he conducted himself excellently and was a pleasure to get aquainted with. He also has the best signature I've ever seen!
A. B.
Normaly I not like Mexican food , but it was really nice. Cocktails was difirent but really good just dessert not liked nobody including my son. And we have for him from children menu make your self samfing and really not order that never again . But all difirent food was perfect.
And it's difficult to get napkins. Old was taken away and I asked for new ones, but had dessert with chocolate and that became real problem. But we really go again.
E. T.
Tasty mexican food at a good price, and a fun atmosphere. We were there on a busy Wednesday evening, service was quick and the wait staff are friendly and attentive. Special thanks to Joseph who found my lost sunglasses which I had left behind in the excitement. We will be back.
J. R.
The front of house didn’t seem that interested in greeting anyone, but the servers and the food were excellent. I had the crab starter which was delicious as was the seabream. Really peaceful place until they suddenly cranked up some awful music at about 3pm. That was our cue to leave! The staff at Skylon could not do enough to make our evening as enjoyable as possible - a special thanks to Andre and his colleague.
R. M.
Absolutely accommodating and friendly staff followed by amazing food. Brilliant birthday treat for hubbie and the kids enjoyed their dessert too. Definitely, recommended to all who want quality food in a relaxed atmosphere.
A. U.
Wahaca has always been one of my favourite places to eat. They have a great variety of food and its perfect for sharing! Highly recommend this place and don't make food extra spicy if you are not ready to get a good kick
D. N.
Food was great and it's a handy location for Waterloo station. Only complaint was that the waiter didn't bother coming round to see if we needed drinks or more to eat once the first orders were served.
L. P.
At first I was angry because I waited over an hour for a table after they said it would only be 25 minutes. However, the steak tacos were some of the best tacos I've ever had, not to mention they came out very quickly! Definitely coming back
M. M.
I've been here a few times over the years and each time I've visited, it seems to go down hill each time.
The service is so varied, it can be really good and other times it's hard to flag down someone. The food is okay, not as good as it used to be. The do need to freshen up the menu a bit to keep patrons excited. The new items are very few.
r. p.
Loved it. My BFF was late and we had an hour only as we were due at the old Vic. Our waiter was super efficient and helped us order. We both loved what we got and I would go again. Very relaxing even though very busy
K. R.
Our waiter was incredibly friendly, couldn't do enough for us. Food was great, casual atmosphere. Had a lovely time.
H. W.
Recently visited this branch of Wahaca with friends; we ordered a LOT of different dishes from the menu, the staff were really knowledgeable and explained exactly what was in each dish and the types of flavour. As I am not a fan of spicy things the staff were incredibly helpful in making sure I didn't choose a dish that would blow my head off spice-wise but ensuring that I would still get the full Wahaca experience! We visited with young children which wasn't a problem, despite it being a busy Friday evening - staff came and spoke to them individually, checking that they were happy and had everything they needed to make their Wahaca experience as enjoyable as ours.
M. S.
Friendly service, nice atmosphere and buzzy place while relaxing. The plantain tacos is fantastic! Always enjoy the frijoles in Wahaca. Good place to get shared dishes and nice for a couple or group of friends.
N. B.
Good food, decent portion sizes and good service. You can expect a similar experience at all the Wahaca outlets and this one is no different. Prices are reasonable too.
K. C.
Really good mix of fusion (and Californian) Mexican food as well as authentic style foods. A couple of the dishes were ok but most were very well done! It is small plates style so sharing is the way but you can just sit and keep ordering on and on.
I also like that there's a bar if you want to have drinks while you wait for a table (because more likely than not there will be a wait). The bar has some typical Mexican beers and tequila/mezcal etc again with their own twist added in some cases.
Biggest disappointment is still that they're called Wahaca and they don't have Oaxacan food like mole!!
Still, if I'm in London I'd come back for sure when I'm craving this style of modern/mixed Mexican
C. L.
I love the pork pibil tacos and chorizo quesadilla! A nice before theatre meal as this is located near the old vic. However they seated us on the same table as another group which I felt was slightly awkward as they were very full.
R. H.
Nice place. Some Food a little bit bland.
J. H.
5th visit to Wahaca in various cities. Never disappointed. Impressed our server could tell us what from & how Tequila is made. Food delicious, service excellent. Look forward to returning to any Wahaca.
A. “. A.
Service was great our waiter was really helpful and friendly. The food was filling and served in a good amount of time.
p. m.
The service was fantastic. Brownie points for Wesley who was great. Food was very good , but I'm a old bird and it was just too noisy for me. I couldn't hear what anyone was saying.
M. A.
Great service and food always 👌
R.
One of my favourite Wahacas in London. The layout is interesting and there's a decent amount of space so finding a table isn't usually hard. I'm a fan of small plates of food with lots different flavours and Wahaca always provides in that regard. Good cocktails and friendly service. Good spot to get something to eat after going to the BFI.
T. A.
A good sized Wahacas in cool post-modern environs. Service tends to be on the slow side due to the number of covers but it is still decent. CJ was our waiter and was particularly enthusiastic and helpful during a busy Saturday period, so my thanks to him!
A. H.
Always consistently good food. Pricey for the portion sizes, but if you're spending some money on a treat it's great.
M. H.
Food is great. Service is friendly and helpful. BUT we waited an hour for a table after being told it would be 15-20 minutes. Understand that they were busy but half the tables were empty.........
I. R. S.
It's quite nice, a bit pretentious I suppose.
The pork tacos were nice.
Don't bother with the Chicken Club Quesadillas if you actually want to eat chicken though: it barely had any in it, and it's more expensive.
B. M.
It's okay for a quick lunch fix, but very calorie dense. Careful: if a food is said to be hot, it really is! So don't further drown it in hot sauce.
P. V.
Really great way to eat. Small dishes, tapas style mean you get to try a range of flavours. Quite busy even on a Tuesday evening and you can't book but once sat the service was quick and the food was great.
A. E.
The Waterloo branch is fairly spacious with an industrial feel to the interior design. Not very brightly lit even in the middle of the day, which made it perfect for a hungover brunch. (Their tortilla soup is a godsend for queasy stomachs.) Took a while to get the attention of staff, but once they remembered we existed they did a good job of recommending dishes for us to share and ensuring that we were enjoying our meal. Portions were bigger than we expected, so we ended up doggy bagging what we couldn't finish with paper cartons provided by the staff.
D. Q.
Staff are really friendly and helpful here. It can be quite busy but they do what they can to seat you asap. The food is delicious and comes with little wait. The new app for paying is great to as it means you don't need to wait around for a bill you can just eat pay and off you go
T. F.
Lovely food. Some of the portions are very generous so be careful how much you order lol I had a borrito and it was big..we had some starters too. Try the duck croquettes if you can. They have an app which if u can download can pay online your bill after you have entered your table number. We had a very kind and friendly waiter- sth which you do not always see in London
N. G.
Lovely venue; partially underground and beautiful decor. Tables are quite close together and a bit cramped but nothing different than most Wahacas. Food was well prepared overall.
D. N.
Big, downstairs restaurant on Mexican theme. Big menu with tapas style and standard mains. Good service. Food fine if all a bit samey, not really enough variation in style and taste. Prices a little steep for what you get but this is central London.
N. P.
Great food and atmosphere. Minus the picked onions has a great authentic taste. The Mexico street nachos are solid (though not huge) and the horchata was on point
v. b.
I love Wahaca so much. The food is delicious. Great options for sharing. Service is really good. It can be really hard to get a table, so book ahead!
A. Y.
Great mexican food at this place at a fair price and definitely bring a group to share food with. Prices could be around £8-15 per dish, the food tastes authentic and tasty. Beware: long queues and they do not take reservations. The place can be packed during evenings and particularly on weekend evenings. The cocktails are also interesting and tasty :) #Oktoberwurst
D.
We had lots of food there and almost everything was delicious. Different range of tacos, very good desserts, Mexican beer. Defo gonna eat there again.
J. G.
Staff at the bar can be rude/dismissive/uninterested while waiting for a table. Once seated though, friendly professional staff combined with fresh tasty dishes make this a good spot for a casual meal.
W. Y.
Really lovely service and atmosphere, a preferred spot to the cramped and dingy Southbank equivalent. This converted basement will not only set the mood but also get your appetite!
A. H.
I love wahacca and this one doesn't disappoint. Mexican flavours and small plates are great. Service was a little slow last time we went but it was very busy. Bear in mind you may struggle to get a table quickly
W. G.
Having lived in Mexico and specifically Oaxaca; i must say the food is very good, brilliant flavours could taste the 'epazote' and, great to have a Michelada. Very good service also by Jaz. Please bring one to Birmingham or Worcester 👍
J. C.
Service was poor. Restaurant really loud. Took 30 mins to have our drinks order taken. Forgot our churros do had to remind the waitress and we waited 20 mins more. I get it's a Friday and it's busy but service was poor.
L. J.
Really like the food in wahaca. The portion sizes have decreased a little but still decent sized. I often get 2 of the small plates instead of the recommended 3 and I'm always full
M. L.
Superb! Excellent food!
G. W.
I am lukewarm about Wahaca. The food is good, but not amazing. That being said, I was limited to vegetarian options (of which there were several, so that's a plus), so perhaps the meaty dishes are a bit more exciting.
This branch, set in a basement, has terrible acoustics and it can get very loud if the place is busy. Be prepared to wait for a bit at peak times.
L. N.
Very nice Mexican street food. Cocktails were good. But thought the second one wasn't as strong as the first. Good value.
R. J.
As always, I love the decor, but the menu has changed.. they used to have so many more starters which were tasty. And more veggie choices. Anyway food still tastes great!
R. S.
Great service, good food and lively atmosphere.
G. S.
Great place, love the food and drink. It's Mexican, but better than you're used to! Casual and fun, with good service, ideal for a group evening out. If you don't know what a Chelada is, try it!
S. P.
Nice atmosphere, reminded me of a Wagamama experience. Good size, tasty burrito and nice spicy nachos. Won't stick in the mind but a good place for no fuss meal after work.
N. B.
Plenty of seating and tables. Wide choice in menu. Delicious food and good value. Quick service. Attractive surroundings. I will be a regular customer.
s. C.
Delicious fish tacos and sweet potato chunks. Great friendly staff!
-.
Good selection of Mexican inspired food, but my goodness, why so loud?
One can hardly hear the person across the table, and it is all the muzak played at full volume.
Now I'm withholding one star from any place in which I can't talk to my companions, I strongly suggest others do the same before they make us deaf!
J. L.
We are big fans of Wahaca having visited the first branch when it opened in the containers on South Bank. I wonder if the chain is beginning to expand too fast because it seems like it is beginning to lose it's edge. Much of the food did not seem quite as fresh as you might expect from the growing chain and the rice in the burrito seemed a little under cooked. The branch feels a touch claustrophobic, particularly when busy, I know Wahaca is intended to be a canteen style experience but the space felt cramped, hot and noisy rather than the busy, bustling but still airy branch on South Bank. It might have something to do with natural light, it's virtually non-existant in the new branch and the decor feels overbearing in the space.
That said, service was good and food was tasty, I'm probably just being picky as I have high expectations of Wahaca.
P. S.
The food was delicious, the service was friendly & the place was buzzing. Best of all the prices are very reasonable. Definitely will go back again. The only downside is that because it was packed, it was noisy & it is quite difficult to have a reasonable conversation without shouting.
A. B.
Awesome, lovely food and great surroundings. Busy but a comfortable bar and great cocktails... Werner was a great host and I'd definitely go again... Mexican done in a tidy fashion...
M. H.
Fantastic food! The atmosphere and decor was brilliant (not to mention the cocktails) Marcel our waiter was extremely friendly and made sure we had everything we needed!
M. G.
We go here sometimes for a Friday lunch work trip. There's always plenty of space at midday, though gets a little busier as the hour ticks by. The staff are pleasant and efficient, the food is always top notch.
A. S.
Super food and good service. There always seems to be place to seat a good sized group. The service is fast and friendly. As with all Wahacas, the food is fresh and awesome. The super-convenient location doesn't hurt.
N. J.
I really enjoyed the food and its quite big so wasn't too busy when we first arrived. It does get quite noisy when full, but the food is really tasty. Good place to visit with friends from work for lunch.
C. A.
You know what you're getting with Wahaca, and they do it well. No reservations: you turn up, get given a buzzer, then gravitate to the bar where the margaritas are a great distraction from the wait (they take their tequila seriously). Seating is communal a la Wagamama and interior design is funky; some good packages offset the problem of choice with small plate menus. Delicious and good value, it gets crowded at peak times.
B. W.
A most enjoyable establishment with a wonderful selection of delectable edibles. However eating the dessert was surprisingly difficult. The depth of the spoons was entirely deceptive. Depthcetive one might say. Solid full marks 5/7 though, would eat again.
H. G.
Amazing fit out, the place looks like a contemporary art gallery. Staff were super friendly, and the food at wahaca is always fantastic. The sweet potato taquito is 🥇
M. Z.
Super Mexican food experience. Part of a chain and always reliable. Quick service , great drinks , Food, Service and atmosphere. Worth visiting when you want a tickle to your tongue.
C. A.
I been here tonight the food was delicious service was perfect but there was this lady who's name was Eleonora duty manager she was really unfriendly and rude . As a manager you should show a good example for your staff and do your job correct . If you can't just go home ,you ruin the place and the rest of the team ,they work hard to make this place better day by day and by your behavior you taking this place backward instead of forward. I been ordered at 11pm a corona the waitress she said alright! after my drink have been arrived I saw there is no lime no lemon, so I went to the bar and I asked politely some lime or lemon , her answer was unexaptable!!! she told me I can't get you any of that because the bar been shut down like a few min ago and she can't get me neither of lime or lemon and straight she turned her back on me . As I'm a bartender for 13 years I know she could open that frige and take that lime out wouldn't take time at all . I could continue more about our job and our responsabilties in hospitality but I'm just gonna stop here and say I'm never gonna go again in that place. She misuse her position and that was absolutely unacceptable. Kind regards for the rest of the team and thank you for the delicious food.
F. R.
Flavorful and delicious sharable and meals. The carnitas tacos are amazing. Flavors are combined magnificently. Great for a late night snack, dinner, or any time of the day.
S. B.
Delicious food at a good price. You must order the sweet potato chips! Good, friendly service. Only downside is the tables are a bit too close together!
J. M.
It is way above the usual Mexican food you can get in London. They have some small dishes in tapas style and also some bigger dishes. Everything was freshly made and tasted great.
M. H.
I went there on a business dinner and thought this was pretty cool! At first I thought the food wouldn't fill me up but I got a burrito and some sides to share and was pretty full up afterwards. The service was really good too and the price decent.
A. G.
Not really easy to please with Mexican as I'm spoiled from Mexico and Texas.
This was good stuff except the salsa was almost frozen. Ice crystals. Had to ask the server to microwave it. Other than that the tacos and refried beans were good. Along with the warned up salsa. Tasty!
M. H.
Amazing service and food as always
P. B. K.
Lighting very poor, even the young one in our group had a hard time reading the menu. Food was ok, but I do miss chips. They do have sweet potato chips but.....
H. G.
Wahaca does great food and drink but everyone is just a bit too close together which makes it hard to chat....felt like I was sat on top of the next table. But obvs the churros made up for it!
A. L.
In my opinion this is one of the best Wahaccas in town. The staff are great, very friendly and attentive. It can get very busy and a 15 - 20 min wait isn’t unusual, especially if it’s around Pre / Post theatre times as its across the road from the Old Vic.
O. C.
Good food, but overpriced
M. P.
Great location. Speedy, excellent service.
D. C.
Fast service and friendly. Food amazing and much better than others Wahaca's.
It is a busy restaurant and bit noisy but comfortable. Just a step forward from Waterloo station.
Not a bad choice for a quick lunch
A. C.
It's Wahaca! This one feels a little cramped compared to some other branches, but has the same menu you'll find elsewhere -- interesting takes on Mexican-style street food (tacos, taquitos, etc.) and nice Tequila-themed cocktails.
If you're looking for a quick bite to eat (which you can either do via sharing plates or larger individual ones) that isn't too expensive (although probably a little more than most other chains) before you go to a play or jump on a train, this is a good shout.
D. R.
Had a great time here. Excellent food, with some really nice twists in comparison to standard mexican fare. Good prices and service too. Pay app is a nice touch.
H. S.
Bit of a wait to be seated, but it was a Friday night. Really good food and nice atmosphere. Deals on 3+ small dishes would be a boost.
J. G.
Excellent lunch for vegetarians.
A. v. d. G.
Really nice food, medium prices. Unfortunately very noisy inside so suggest a different venue if you want to have a good chat to your dinner companions...unless you have a very loud voice.
h. t.
Nice Mexican food. Good options for food and also drinks. They can make it spicy if you request them. We tried Tacos, Tostadas and Burritos. They also have choice of tequillas, and these are quite different from any other place.
C. A.
Amazing food, just a bit noisier that I like
S. S. B.
Can usually count on this Mexican 'tapas-style' restaurant for decent atmosphere, great food, colourful drinks and quick service so a good option for a night out with friends. Be prepared to wait 15-30mins though - even though it's huge, it's pretty popular.
R. R. d. B.
Viby! The déco is modern and cool.
Amazing service, the menu is super diverse. There are pictures of the dishes on their dedicated Instagram. You can pay your bill online.
D. E.
Great place for Maxican
M. R. V.
Nice place, good location, affordable prices and kind staff.
R. B.
Really enjoyed the food I thought it was going to be heavy but it was light and flavourful. Plus get got complimentary curios...nice!!
J. G.
A reliable chain restaurant with a good range of dishes. The street food is particularly good if you want to try lots of different things, and they often add new items to this part of the menu.
G. K.
Great food, good service and a really handy location. Don't be put off by it being a chain, this is fresh cooked, Mexican inspired food, done brilliantly.
T. M.
Well Wahaca is almost a staple for me. The service and atmosphere at their Waterloo restaurant can always be relied upon to be consistent as is the South Bank branch (located a short walk away but generally requiring you to queue hence Waterloo being my first go to) - both never let me down! Great buzz with the chittar chatter of a full house. Food always yum and already craving another trip.
D. S.
Very reliable Mexican food. Not the best location on a sunny day as completely underground and the décor is a bit child loose with rubber band. Nice staff also.
J. P.
Great place to enjoy freshly made tacos with shots of Olmeca tequila and margaritas. Love this location as it does not get crazily busy like Covent Garden branch, and you can have a relaxed meal here.
Save room for the churros con chocolate! A great way to end a meal, as I love the cinnamon on the churros with the dark notes of the chocolate.
O. S.
First time at a Wahaca's. The food was perfectly fine and good value. The steak tacos weren't too tender but other than that fine. Friendly staff and good venue
C. H.
Nice food and atmosphere, food was a little on the expensive side but nothing extravagant
p. f.
Great food! Loud and a Lot of people. Tables are very close to each other. But food is fantastic. Drinks are good too
L. C.
Really nice food, good prices. Plus there's an app you can download to pay whilst you eat, which saves a lot of time. It's a nice restaurant I recommend it!
K. D.
Ordered delivery, really good food and the packaging is really good. It not plastic !!! That big bonus pint for them. !
O. K.
The food was delicious, the prices are ok and amazing service. And they have a lift (we had a buggy with us, it was really important(
J. M.
Good staple place to grab a bite quickly. Can always get a table here within 10 minutes and love the cocktails they make. Chorizo topped frijoles are a particular favourite
R. L.
Love this place..staff are fun and it's got such a great atmosphere. The food is always fresh and delicious and very reasonably priced.
R. A.
Good food. Good atmosphere . Good service. The music they turned on part way through our evening was a little annoying.
N. C.
Food is good, although the prices for some items has gone up. Too noisy as it’s in a crammed area with low ceilings so everyone ends up shouting over each other
C. G.
Great food and very reasonable prices. The atmosphere was awesome and the staff were really friendly. Definitely worth a visit.
R. N.
Great vegan and vegetarian options
M.
Yemi was really helpful. Thanks!
M. P.
I went to this restaurant with a group of friends, this is an awesome restaurant with a Mexican feel. The food is great, the staff are really helpful and always eager to assist. The interior design is amazing as is the lighting :-).
M. B.
Near the Waterloo railway station you can find this mexican restaurant, where you can have fast lunch, snack or dinner. Stuff is very friendly and polite. You will get a special "buzz-phone" while the restaurant is full and you are waiting for a table. When this "phone" buzzes then your table is ready. The food was very good and also Citrus Fizz was great!
A. D.
Good cocktails, delicious food and quick service
S. K.
Wacaha is doing well to have quite a standardized experience; as is in, whichever branch I go to, the service is always consistent and the places where the fewest mistakes happen. Staff are friendly and on the ball. This branch at Waterloo can get busy on weekends with a queue of 30 mins sometimes which is a pain as there is no real bar to speak of that you can wait in (unlike Soho which has a large bar/club downstairs). Food wise, the menu changes and there are at least 5 vegetarian options to choose from. The food is a little cheese heavy (so watch out if you get bloaty on dairy based food, but there is a dairy-free hot chocolate which is delicious), but generally tasty and spicy. I highly recommend the Horchata drink and Plantain Tacos. I could have just these things forever.
A. P.
Great food and AMAZING service- thanks so much to our waiter Jazz, who was incredibly attentive and charming. Make sure you ask for him when you go!
A. R.
The food here is always delicious, and the service really good. They have lots of great vegan options, and there's always something new to try as the menu is seasonal.
V. S.
Service is exceptional and food is different and quirky. Atmosphere of the place is super nice high ceilings a lot of space around.
C. D.
Amazing service and food. 10/10
G. L.
Good quality, tasty Mexican street food. Buzzy atmosphere. Just 15 min wait at the bar with a pager , which wasn't bad for a Thursday night
I. S.
Negra Modelo cerveza with Wahaca selection plater was exactly what we needed on a cold and wet evening in London.
Loved the "ropy" decor with low lights hanging from the ceiling... kind of matches the type of food served in here - authentic and comfy. Fun background Latino music adds to the cheerful atmosphere.
The staff was helpful and friendly. We got here about 5pm on a Friday night and got a table easily... but within an hour this place got pretty packed.
C. T.
Visited when they were having their Day of the Dead feast menu, which two of us shared. I was pleasantly surprised: Considering it is a chain the food was good and tasty.
O. G.
We loved the food and the service is great! Only downside is that it is very crowded. I would go for 4.5 stars if possible.
S. J.
I love all Wahacas :) Black bean and cheese quesadilla and MSC battered cod tacos of course. It's quite noisy and upbeat so don't get there if you're looking for somewhere quiet! It's amazing though!
A. G.
Food is good, service is good. But its just too small and hard to get a tablemost times. We were told 2 hour wait the last two times we tried, so...
G. N.
Don't get turned away at the door! This place is not be confused with Bar Elba. The decor is Great and the food is served quickly! The plantain tacos are sooo moreish!! #Yummyyummyformytummy
T. C.
Good location, very friendly staff. The food was tasty, we had a selection of the small plates.
M. H.
Food is great. Service was prompt and effective. Table a little small for somewhere that encourages sharing plates. Bit noisy.
J. B.
With a Classic Margarita while waiting for a table, we used WiFi to call home and talk with family. The food was good and gave us a little favor of home: Texas!
S. K.
Typical outpost of wahaca. Friendly service and ok Mexican food
M. S.
Great seating area downstairs, really nice food and good drinks. Bit pricey, but good for central London. Nice place for a meal with mates.
g. h.
The food was really good.
But the food did not come out at the same time, which left one of us waiting for over 30 minutes for the food to arrive and the rest of us had finished
L. L.
A little bit crowded the tables are too close together but the food is good. Good cocktails and vegetarian options
D. Y.
Every dish was awesome. Staff were friendly. We'll suited groups willing to share dishes.
E. O.
Quick service and friendly staff. Food portions were great for price and atmosphere was good. Will return.
l. d.
Yep it’s great, fast service, great selection of food, lovely flavours, good beers. And you can pay on the app, so all good.
D. A.
Food was delicious, sharing platter was more than enough between 2 people.
v. k.
Food was good. Prompt service. Would have been a five star however I feel the dessert spoons were lacking in depth. A tragic waste of spoon real estate.
N. X.
Really great service and food was fine
A. C.
The ultimate chicken burrito was delicious and a good sized portion. Staff were polite. Definitely recommend it.
M. H.
Really lively place. Excellent quality food. Polite and quick service. Good VFM. Will DEFINITELY return.
R. E.
Excellent food and drinks, service was fine, atmosphere was nice. Overall... I'm looking forward to going back!
A. O.
Classic Mexican chain, good food, slightly over priced. Good fast service. Perfect for a quick team lunch. ~£15/head
M. P.
Food was delicious, staff so friendly and nothing was too much trouble..oooh and the cocktails.. I highly recommend
S. C.
Got two separate recommendations to go here. It was the perfect place to catch up with an old friend over lunch. Delicious food. The tamarind margarita was soooo good.
C. O.
Nice and friendly. Perfect for a catch up with friends - bit noisy but it's part of the experience. Nice food to share.
P. P.
Place is fine, you can wait around for ages for a drink and then 25mins later it will show up with your mains, and then you starter will arrive, its like wagamamas, won't be the best you had, but will taste the same as you very visit
E. R.
£1 Tacos on a Tuesday and excellent sharing menu. Book or get there early cos it's really popular and really busy. Lush food!
T. G.
Went to the Burrito hut down by the skateboarding. Burrito was good.
D. M.
Good food but service was a bit stretched with our orders coming out intermitently. Possibly not really well set for large bra of diners
V. H.
Always love going to Wahaca. Great service and great food. The slow cooked pork taco from the day's specials was amazing.
C. M.
Good food and service an interesting concept and always felt welcome even when we turned up a couple of minutes before opening
I. M.
food is nice and the staff is really friendly. The location is perfect and the atmosphere nice
S. L.
She is very kind
Food is very good
A. N.
It's a chain yes. But the food is good and the margaritas arnt bad. Stick to the basics - Stearns or pork tacos. Didn't like to fish too much.
L. T.
Lovely meal in a fab place. Went with family and thoroughly enjoyed the variety of food. 10/10 as usual.
n. a.
Loved the food and style of presentation. A heavenly place to go in for any vegan with great ambiance and just so perfect food..Loved it.

S. A.
A great atmosphere and great food
S. B.
Never disappointed by Wahaca s food and service.
Had a wonderful service from Hen on my recent visit !
Their Sonora salad with chargrilled steak is just a merveille !
Thank you Hen :-)
L. G.
This Is the best Mexican food I have found out of Mexico, it was extremely tasteful and I ate here 3 times during my trip to the eu.
J. G.
Amazing steaks and their tequila was yummy!
A.
Really good food and great ambience
P. D.
Really pleasant lunch meal, good selection of dishes to have if you not after a large meal.
S. O.
decent food, friendly customer service!
C. B.
Always good Mexican food, service was a little haphazard (we almost definitely would have ordered more drinks if we'd had the chance) but otherwise can't complain
E. R.
Amazing food !!! Went 2 times on my trip the sweet potatoes taquito was amazing , and drinks were all great
My favorite place from all the restaurants I visited
P. B.
Food was good, service was friendly and all very quick so we could get in eat and back to work.
R. H. C.
Nice place. The service is decent, but as it's always overcrowded it takes forever to get your food. The quality is good for the price.
T.
Food was good, meals and drinks didnt take too long to arrive, interesting seating. Wasnt very busy when i went. Polite staff.
C. G.
Really good mexican food. They have a great taco Tuesday deal. Drinks were perfectly strong and the flavor was delicious.
K. W.
Excellent food with big portions and good value for money. Wish there was one near home!
G. B.
Delicious food and a buzzing atmosphere. Warning to those with disabilities line myself. The restaurant is downstairs but there is a lift.
M. M. (.
Good chain with nice selection of dishes, somewhat lacking in traditional Mexican liveliness and spirit, but perfectly serviceable dinner venue nonetheless
A. R.
Really good food but don't go if you're in a rush! The fact they make it fresh means you'll have to wait a bit.
R. S.
Vibrant atmosphere. Wide selection of good food. Prompt service with character. A fun place for a Saturday evening.
B. P.
I work in the area and often go here for lunch. Tad expensive, but such good options that I keep going back. Would be good if they had a loyalty scheme.
H. O.
Good Wahaca. If you can't get into the one on the Southbank and you're really set on Wahaca this is a great alternative. It's huge and usually seems to have space anytime I've gone. Really well laid out
R. M.
Really good selection of dishes and all tasted great. Will definitely go again when I'm in the area.
S. I.
Had a lovely lunch there, brilliant experience friendly staff and fantastic food.
A. C.
Buzzing place on a Friday evening, and a great atmosphere to unwind with friends over small plates of tostadas and taquitos to share. Very reasonably priced, too.
B. H.
Great food, setting and service - could get a bit pricey fast if you keep ordering more...
l. p.
Great food, service was great! Marlon was really helpful and kind.
Tacos and quesadillas were really good. Spent 11£
M. M.
Beautiful place with modern decoration. Food portions are small even for main plates but great quality.
A. W.
What an adventure of flavours! So worth a visit. Relaxed atmosphere and stylish decor too.
O.
Solid Mexican food with delicious drinks, great for large groups of people. I suggest their burritos and mojitos, as they are super tasty.
A.
Friendly staff, short wait to be seated but that was to be expected. Food was good and short wait for that. Mind that it can be a bit noisy!
B. M.
Good service, friendly engaged staff, food delicious and timely, layout nice and all seemed spick and span. Would return without hesitation.
Z. B.
Best black coconut ice cream! 😍🙏
K. S.
Lovely food , last visited with whole family. We enjoyed food and atmosphere. Service also good.

once you've been to wahaca, you know how it works. the food is tasty and there is a wide variety. good for hanging out with your friends or for a casual date.
E. A.
Best meal out I've had in ages, got the veggie sharing thing, amazing, the mushroom tacos were the best
T. T. F.
Slow service unfortunately on some days & good food but how authentically Mexican it is anyone's guess. The Vampiro by non-alcoholic drink is now a fave of mine
T. B.
Amazing food and service!
B. A.
Food is tasty, great for large groups, a little bit pricy but the service is at its tops
G. S.
Great food, really tasty and fresh. Good to order small plates and share.
