Reviews of Wiltons Restaurant
E. C.
Micheal and his team gave us a warm welcome for our first visit in 2022. Beef consommé and smoked eel were both simple and perfectly cooked. The staff are knowledgeable and friendly. Our main courses of Fillet and Dover sole were perfect and delicious. The whole evening was unrushed, a calm atmosphere left us feeling relaxed and happy.
P. M.
One of the the most consistent quality restaurants serving classic English food. Always a joy to eat here and leave a very happy guy. Thank you.
L. H.
Amazing staff and food. Compliments to the chef! Best black truffle risotto I’ve ever had. Oysters and cod even more delicious, and don’t miss the rice pudding with Yorkshire rhubarb and almonds. Did I mention service, they were outstanding from the time we walked in until we left. We will be back
A. R.
Food was very tasty and good quality. Service was excellent and I like that it didn't feel rushed at all.
The stilton soufflé is a must have - one of my favourite starters of all time.
D. G.
Absolutely exquisite food, the service was a little off but overall had to give it a five? Would have gone with four and a half if available. Lovely seafood menu with classic staple English desserts. Highly recommended to all those looking for a fine dining British experience.
B. C.
We love this restaurant. The food and service both are perfection.
S. B.
Cozy welcoming handy for Central London shopping. Personal care by exceptional staff both in courtesy and knowledge of the menu.

Had a fantastic time. Wonderful place to eat, staff are friendly and attentive, excellent selection of wines. Would definitely recommend to anyone wanting a top class dining experience. Requires booking way in advance if you want the private room.
T. E.
Charming traditional English seafood restaurant in the heart of St James’s with old work style and service. Delicious oysters and a wonderful signature dish of Dover sole make for a memorable evening of dining.
K. M.
One of the best meals that I've had in this superb restaurant. The Stilton Souffle and the Sole Munierre were very memorable. The Bread Pudding was as good as it looked. Service was to a very high standard. Wilton's is always an experience!
B. S.
Went there from Miami for my 70 th Bday .
Have read about it for years but this was my first opportunity to visit . I’ll be brief …. “ in a League of their own “ ! Class personified, Old World Charm , Elegant , Delicious , a Wonderful Experience!
M. G.
Amazing food - try the mix of oysters (unlike any oysters we’ve ever tried before). Sea bass was cooked to perfection and the staff were friendly.
A. K.
Excellent seafood with the freshest oysters, crustaceans and flatfish. Great wine list and well made cocktails. Traditional and attentive service. Makes dinners an occasion. Prices on the high side but seafood this good doesn’t come cheap. A bit short on space, the tables for two are bit of a squeeze.
K. B.
The best restaurant in London! The service was impressive. The staff made me feel like home. And what can I say about the food... The dover sole just blew my mind! The most delicious fish I have ever tried. Highly recommend! Thank you, Wiltons!
J. D.
It's difficult to fault the quality of the food here as they clearly take great care over the quality, preparation and presentation. I enjoyed a lovely three course meal in the private dining area with a group of friends and overall I'd have to say it's really a superb place and a great experience.
Highly recommended for anyone looking for a very traditional London dining experience.
It feels a little dated for my personal tastes but if tradition is what you want this is an excellent choice.
A. F. (. i. t. K.
Fabulous experience of atmosphere and food in the heart of St James. Sommelier extremely helpful. It was a joy to have eaten there. Absolutely will return
M. C. R.
One of the oldest and finest restaurants in London.
Best oysters ever in my life, and I'd enjoyed them all over the world.
The ones in this restaurant comes from Ireland, so I was told.
I suggest ordering the tray with a variety of oysters.
I'd just love the crab and couldn't resist to order it, exquisite !
The Maître is an excellent advisor on the menu, do not hesitate on his word.
M. M.
looked for a true British experience and I fully reached my target. Very attractive menu with a variety of oysters, seafood and game. The ambiance is stylish but friendly and easy at the same time. Service simply excellent. I had a fantastic selection of oysters and a roasted pheasant like a typical Christmas proposal. Indeed the pheasant was slightly tough but this has really been the only point of improvement. All the rest deserved 🔝rating. It will be one of my preferite stops in the future.
V. Z.
We had the most amazing dinner ever. The service was impeccable, very professional and friendly. The staff made us feel so warm welcome. Superstar cuisine and fabulous interior. I will definitely go back there again! Truly recommend to everyone.
Thank you, Wiltons!

The food and the service were superb.
The interior is just fantastic.
Perfect for celebrating special events or a romantic date.
M. S.
Top-shelf ingredients, simply prepared and not trying too hard; impeccable service; the type of refined and discreet atmosphere you would expect from London’s oldest restaurant
I. K.
Great experience! Food was delicious, service was outstanding... and the atmosphere.. oh, boy, there was a true british spirit
A. K.
Good Dover sole. Antique interior. Soufflé disappointing. Lobster bisque average.
D. d. S.
Traditional English, but not stuffy, in fact really relaxed. The food was great, over priced, but then that is what you expect. I'd recomend a visit.
F. C.
This place has a very unique style, it's very comfortable, it has books that you can pick up and read, and I could spend the entire day here. The food is delicious, and the flavor combinations are excellent. The coffee is among the best I've had in a long time. I wholeheartedly recommend Wiltons Restaurant.
h. s.
There is a certain dress code for the most part. Fantastic oysters.
D. B.
Food was tasty and well priced. The staff was very attentive and professional, catering to us very well especially if you have specific dietary requirements. Overall, a very good experience.
M. C.
Absolutely loved! Cozy, warm spot. Fantastic food and impeccable service. Still love it...3rd time.
R. B.
Everything about this restaurant was great. The place was clean and smelled good. Must Try!
S. H.
One of the best meals to be had in London. Fantastic fish dishes and service.
M. S.
Food is good but very expensive..no more trolley with the roast specials due to lack of staff unfair..but service is great..
D. F.
Excellent service. Superb food in traditional setting.
S. B.
Great food, wonderful service and bloody lovely cocktails 🍸.

One of the top eating experiences in London, the Wiltons brand was established in 1742 and still maintains an “old-world” atmosphere despite recent redecoration and several changes of address. Food is served a-la-carte two and three courses or from the changing seasonal menu. Menu highlights include 1/2 Dozen Oysters, Lobster Bisque, Surrey Farmed Beef Fillet, Roast Beef and Yorkshire Pudding, Hallibut and the Wiltons Summer Pudding.
A. H.
Astonishing food and astonishing bill because there are no prices on the menu. So to have an excellent fresh food and a surprise in the end, perfect.
M. B.
Excellent new(ish) restaurant to the area. A high quality, adventurous tasting menu which was very enjoyable. A great (and much needed) addition to the local scene. Highly recommend.
N. J.
Excellent quality and super service. My cheese souffle was awesome
L. P.
Perfection! Attentive but subtle service, incredible food, a cosy yet elegant atmosphere, and a wine list that's out of this world. Expensive but worth every penny. A firm London favourite.
e. t.
Very good food and service
High class and intimate
R. S.
Wiltons has a 5 star food standards agency, hygiene rating, as of October 2019.
For my first visit, I called up and reserved a table with no issues, for a Thursday evening a few days before hand.
The restaurant is very relaxed and you can easily have a conversation here thanks to no or very unobtrusive background music, I didnt hear any!
Staff were atentive and helpful, portion sizes reasonable. Mostly expensive wine options, but some "budget" options
Lovely for a quiet meal, overall great experience
J. S. P.
Oh my God! So awesome! Everything from the starters to the entrees to the desserts meshed perfectly with my flavor-profile. The decor was unique and incredible. The waitress did an excellent job. Overall experience: 5 stars.
V. B.
A really nice laid back top restaurant. Had oysters to start lovely and then the mixed grill then peaches and clotted cream with champagne to drizzle on top. All were fantastic. Staff were attentive but in the background. I've had the beef Wellington twice before on a Saturday night here it's hard to beat. Will be back.
D. K.
Outstanding, incredible place food exceptional and welcome and service is unrivalled
l. b.
Fantastic service and incredible food❤

Stunning service and outstanding food to match.
J. M. P.
Went for the first time to Wilton’s for lunch. I was extremely impressed with the service - waiters tripping over themselves to ensure everything was to our taste. Classic French/English cuisine beautifully cooked and presented. The tables are a tad close together but the atmosphere overall is cosy but classy. The bill was a nose bleed, but it was a special occasion.
S. C.
I came here about seven years ago, I remember it being a pleasant lunch, decent food and drink in a smart surrounding but nothing more. I returned this evening - simply outstanding. If I could rate the service off the scale I would, whilst the food is (completely and unapologetically) traditional it wipes every other restaurant in London off the map in terms of execution because there is simply no better way to treat a piece of beef or fish. My dining partner and I barely spoke throughout, it was that good.
H. R. C.
Love it here; great place to have some of the freshest seafood available. Oysters on the 1/2 shell are spectacular, and the Dover Sole prepared any way that you'd like are my favorites. It is the only restaurant in London that I've had the sole prepared as a fried goujons and let me tell you it inspires!!
S. M.
Fun in the sense that you go knowing it's going to be stuffy and overpriced and that's the experience you're there for. Obviously the food was excellent, and the service very traditional (in both a good and bad way). So if delicious fish and seafood in a time capsule is your thing, surrounded by an older clientele who are there less ironically than you, you'll enjoy having your wallet lightened at Wiltons.
S. F.
Yes, it's expensive and completely out of my league on anything other than the most special of occasions, but the service is warm, polite and professional and the traditional British food - with an emphasis on seafood and shellfish - delivers exceptional taste and presentation. The experience is everything you could expect of a fine dining restaurant.
l. r.
Excellent
m. z.
Simply the best seafood restaurant in London! Service was impeccable and very welcoming and the food unforgettable! Every dish is cooked to perfection, we were in a group of four and tried a selection of dishes, I had the lobster bisque and the dover sole both outstanding, the most delicious plate of fish I’ve had, thank you Wiltons
K. P.
The food and service was excellent as always.
L. S.
Quality dining experience at a great price! Steeped in history, the menus offer a range of choices for all. A gem to include on your must visit list.
B. L.
Great atmosphere, good service, excellent food ! A must in London.
C. C.
I can see why people come here for sea food! It's amazing, the staff are really friendly and I love the fact it is morning until you have finished. Definitely one of my best birthdays ever! And I've had a lot!!
a. k.
The service was impeccable, dressed like centuries ago , very professional and friendly . Traditional interior , you can feel the charm of an old English hospitality. Appropriate apparel required. Cousine was good , wine selection can suffice , recommended to visit if you want to feel a blue blood dining.
E. C.
Wonderful little restaurant that has been well established, menu is full of variety and the service was excellent! Loved how the waitresses were dressed in traditional marks outfits added a quirky twist! The oysters are amazing!
J. A.
The best restaurant I’ve eaten in. Please never change. The food and service are the best of any restaurant I’ve visited and only matched by my clubs around the corner. It’s the hallmark of good service to wait until you’re summoned as opposed to interrupting every 20 mins by asking if everything is alright (if it weren’t, I’d have said). While there is no chance of anything being remiss at Wilton’s, they followed this rule and I’d like to thank them for it. The food was perfectly timed, cooked, and served. The one change I would make is to introduce menus with no prices on for guests, while the host has one with prices. Other than that, continuez ainsi !
C. C.
The ultimate in tradition. English food served as it always has been. Fish cooked beautifully. Simple roast every day. Formal but not stuffy. The cheese soufflee starter was delicious, and the lobster omelette unforgettable.
P. H.
Yes it reminds everyone of being in a gentleman's club - Nothing wrong with that.
The food is mainly traditional English superbly cooked and impeccably presented.
Did you see that waiter discretely walking across the dining area? No, neither did I – until I had a request - raising one small finger brings immediate attention. You will never find yourself with your hand in the air twisting around half backwards to get attention here. Excellent.
S. A.
Wiltons is definitely a destination restaurant, and if you like fish it must be on your short list. It's a semi-formal dining experience. There is a warm welcome, a good wine list, and an interesting menu which is not too long and has a good prix fixe option.
E. M.
By far one of the finest restaurant experiences we have ever had. A lot of travel to compare this to and we can assure you a great dining experience. Exceptional service. Brought our kids and our grandchild and we all agreed the best in the world .
D.
In my mind there is no superlative that perfectly describes this institution of English cuisine because Wilton's is simply a place on its own. We have been to this brilliant restaurant with its impeccable service many times and it has never disappointed us. Wilton's is a bit like Wagner's 'Gesamtkunstwerk' with a touch of 'Upstairs Downstairs': it starts with Michael, the fab MC at the reception, keeps you entertained with an incredible Stilton soufflé or the most delicious Dover sole you can imagine and kisses you goodnight with a seductive dessert wine. You can never really say farewell...
T. G.
My favourite restaurant in London. Fantastic food and unbelievable front of house service - Attentive but not intrusive. Its relaxed, enjoyable and you're made to feel very welcome.
M. P. M.
Impeccable English restaurant.
The service is superb, they look after you from the beginning of your dinner until you leave the place.
It's a tipical English menu, food well presented and high quality food.
The list of wine has interesting choices.
Really quiet and calm.
Price range quite high.
Recommended.

A Quintessential British interior with excellent food and service. A must-try for fish lovers and for those who are looking for an excellent selection of wine. Extremely expensive, but worthwhile on a special occasion.
O. B.
Massively underwhelming. I was expecting something along the lines of Rules but I got far less, and for slightly higher prices. Service was exceptional though, and you may have a chance of sitting where either Baroness Thatcher or Princess Diana once sat regularly.
P. C.
One of the best restaurants ever! Staff are very friendly and super professional. Food is amazing, I have been there several times, and I'll definitely will go back. Vincent, the manager made me feel like at home
D. R.
How can I describe how fabulous our dinner was? My mouth is still watering and the staff was friendly but not overdone - my filet was delicious and they made me bearnise sauce, I had carrots, spinach, and a salad - my perfect meal & ♡ we loved it!
L. Y.
Amazing service and the most beautiful cooked fish, highly recommend this restaurant
B. F.
Best fish restaurant in london very aristocratic crowd chicly dressed and excellent service my husband michael and I love this restaurant it's our favourite and at lunchtime they hv a wonderful.trolley depending on which day of the week it is . Not cheap there but absolutely worth a visit or 2 !!!!
I. C.
The food was stunning, wild smoked salmon, native lobster Newburg and summer pudding. Drinks also fantastic, Puligny-Montrachet buy the glass via Coravin was sensational with the lobster. But it was the unobtrusive, attentive service that is truly second to none as always.

As a regular visitor to Jermyn Street I had been keen to go to this very traditional and smart looking establishment for some time - having also read it is a favourite haunt of mens style writer James Sherwood. I was very pleased to find they had a vegetarian menu and was quite impressed for a very traditional restaurant like this (and moreover a place which specialises in seafood) that they had not just one but three choices of vegetarian main course - not just the usual risotto. Better still, it's one of increasingly few London restaurants which has a dress code - gentlemen are expected to wear jackets - I do like an excuse to wear a suit out to dinner.
The service was pleasingly formal from the outset - lots of "sir" and "madame" (yes, pronounced the French way), although we did later on have a slightly camp younger waiter who was characterful and entertaining without being unprofessional or intrusive. In between an ever so slightly stern matron-esque lady - perhaps a tad Teutonic. Lots of characters, but all very professional and dedicated.
As for the actual food - it was all of a decent standard, I started with the wild mushroom and potato galette (normally a main course), which contained girolles amongst some other mushrooms. For my main course I had the truffle macaroni - more of the same wild mushrooms (I assume they don't normally expect people to order both of these dishes!), but the truffle wasn't very evident. Both dishes were topped with rocket which seemed unnecessary and a tad naff, and both were a bit too salty for my tastes, but otherwise not bad. Slightly miffed that I was still charged the main course price for the galette, although it seemed like a fairly small portion. I suppose that'll teach me for trying to order against the flow of the menu.
One other small slip-up - they seemed to forget the sauce with my wife's venison - we might not have realised until we saw the table next to ours had ordered the same dish, which had sauce poured over it as it was served.
Despite a few niggles, overall I enjoyed the experience of dining here - I assume they have a lot of repeat customers, and I can understand how people might develop something of an affection for the place. There's no getting over the fact that it's really quite expensive though, and for the money I think the food could have been better.

One of my favourite restaurants in London. The old English style with excellent service and the food is excellent. Ok it is expensive but it is worth it. I love it.
T. M.
Really enjoyed the atmosphere (traditional upper class old school British) and food (also: traditional, but fresh and delicious). A perfect place to bring visiting friends or for date night.
G. G.
This is certainly my favorite traditional restaurant in London. The staff is attentive and professional with a particular remark on the italian sommelier who is quick and highly skilled. Cuisine is british/french particularly focused on fish selection, with a choice of local catch such as sole, halibut, plaice, cod, turbot, poached or grilled but cooked to perfection. Quality above all.
T. W.
Absolutely first class service!
Props to the waiter and chef for delivering me some of the finest food I have ever had the delight in tasting, and that is no overstatement.
A. E. D.
Excellent meal and service from the staff at the restaurant and starting with champagne. Great selection of shellfish and seafood. Top class!
P. W.
Brilliant as ever. Beautiful food, charming staff and most comfortable and comforting surroundings. It remains a treat to go for dinner.
J. D.
Brilliant evening tasting Oysters and hearing about the history of Wiltons.
D. M.
Wonderful food; top ingredients perfectly cooked and impressively served. Not fussy or pretentious. So pricey that I hesitate to go as often as might otherwise be the case.
P. G. M.
Perfect British classic menu with perfect ingredients. Not cheap but we'll worth it. Great service too.
C. O.
The food was perfectly pleasant and wine was nice - I think it's more of a British traditional place to go rather than the best in the area.

Wilton's was quite posh and very busy. Food was good. Quite expensive. Service seemed a bit off for newcomers like us since they seemed to have devoted regulars who got a lot of attention.
A. v. P.
Lovely restaurant that oozes old school glamour. The food is amazing and so is the service. Would recommend to anyone for a special evening.
T. T.
As a regular or not the service is unequaled , as is the (thank god) non chefy fodder. Should continue for the next few hundred years as the the prices keep up with St James’s rates, If they change I’ll stop going!
D. M.
Wilton’s is so good they could charge double. Amazing food and service. All dishes are done exquisitely and are worth every penny

Had a nice time with my husband for our 3 year anniversary. Food was ok but pricey as we expected.

People often ask me which is my favourite restaurant, I find it hard to say, as I go to so many, and like to try new places all the time. However, one invitation I will never refuse, and one restaurant I will never tire of is Wilton's. It is here over 40 years ago I spent almost a weeks wages on a couple of glasses of Chablis and some giant prawns, at the bar. My last supper would have to include Wilton's Lobster Thermidor. I can't wait to return.

(Translated) One of the oldest restaurants in London and that maintains all the force with a spectacular kitchen. Undoubtedly you have to try the oysters, which are prepared in several ways although to me the selection of the two most popular varieties of this restaurant seemed to me very good. Specialized in fish, they arrive perfectly prepared and you can take them with a lot of garnishes. The venue is the closest thing to an English club, and all the room equipment is a professional bomb proof. A place to repeat many times. Price according to the local, the service and the excellent quality of the food. About 100 pounds with wine and dessert
(Original)
(Translated) I was in this snack for lunch. A relatively unspectacular and a bit messy decorated restaurant. The lady behind the counter, I think the boss, greeted me in typical Asian friendliness. I then ordered the mandu soup. After about 10 minutes of waiting I got spicy marinated vegetables and after another 10 minutes then the soup. The soup was delicious and rich with homemade Asian dumplings. The price for the dishes also seems appropriate. For a "quick" meal I can recommend this snack, but you should bring some time.

(Translated) I have never thought that fish was delicious in the UK, but at Wiltons you can enjoy everything from shellfish to fish. Meat dishes including Game are also wonderful. It is recommended that you go at least smartly and casually.
