Reviews of Wolkite restaurant
S. I.
The restaurant is in the shadows of the stadium of Premier League strugglers Arsenal, and was a really interesting dining experience!
Neither of us had tried Ethiopian cuisine before, and this felt very authentic - we enjoyed not being given cutlery and were keen to eat with our hands and this felt like a really enjoyable part of the experience.
Our dishes all came in a big plate for sharing, and we especially enjoyed the little vegetable sides. The meat dishes were a little sweet for our tastes and could have done with a touch more spice, but it was good to try something new!
Service wasnt great, and we waited about an hour to eat, and a coffee was also forgotten, but all in all this was an enjoyable meal and was definitely good value at around £60 for two including several drinks.

This place is a hidden gem. We got the platter for 3 and the lamb ribs and it was all DELICIOUS! Amazing flavours, reasonably priced and generous portions, and the staff were all super friendly! Would definitely return and recommend. Also the honey wine was really good!

It's been an amazing night with my friends! Our african friend brought us here and ordered all the most traditional dishes. She said this restaurant is famous in the Ethiopian community in London because is very very good and authentic :) she was actually right, the food was tasty and the atmosphere very nice and authentic! Just go there and enjoy the Ethiopian vibe!
S.
This is the first time we've tried Ethiopian food and we were delighted! The restaurant is super friendly and the food was very well priced. Loved it and we'll be back!
K. H. K.
Absolutely delicious and freshly made food served to us with lot of love! We will definitely be regular here for sure 👍🏼🙌🏼

I think it's the best Ethiopian restaurant in London. Recommended by my friend from back home and it's always a pleasure to go to Wolkite.

This is great Ethiopian food. I worked for six months in Addis Ababa and this is the best Ethiopian food I’ve eaten since I returned to the UK. And the coffee is wonderful, too
t.
So delicious!
Great waiter/host with good advice on what to order (1 x vegetarian). Lots of options including veg. Platters are large and filling 😋.
Very tasty food!!!! Will defo be back

One of the best place in London! Just really sad to see they are struggling to get business :(
S. S.
Great, authentic Ethiopian food at medium prices and quality service. It's a family run place, so the owners and staff are really lovely and helpful with the menu. There are lots of vegetarian options that are just as spicy and flavourful as the meat dishes. The place is ideal for big groups as portion sizes are huge and they have a community serving style which I found to be quite unique and special. Really liked the whole experience and I'm definitely returning to try the other things on the menu.
D. L. R.
Great food friendly and attentive staff and great service I will go again to try their other options it was such an enjoyable time

My family and I have been visiting Wolkite for years. In fact, we live 120 miles away and when in London, we definitely stop by and din. The hospitality and state of the restaurant is top class. They are the experts on the food they provide, so I have nothing but amazing things to say about Wolkite. All my friends that I recommend to try have enjoyed their experience and have done the same with their friends too.
5💥 with no hesitation-thank you for your service team Wolkite 🙏
G. P. R.
Great food. We love Ethiopian food but hadn't had the chance to have any since moving to London a couple of years ago (thanks covid). Highly recommend Wolkite. Very friendly staff, with some helpful recommendations. Will definitely be back!

You might not guess it from the shopping centre in which it sits, but this place is fantastic. Brilliant food at amazing value, with friendly and helpful staff to boot. Absolute winner.

So delicious!very huge portion and tasty food.
We been in a busy evening and the service was not Great.
I just want to recommend to improve a bit ..but otherwise was amazing!
Really recommend!
T. K.
Lovely restaurant, good family vibe. The injera came out cold which took away from the experience, but otherwise good place to try Ethiopian food!
G. B.
An Ethiopian friend of mine took me to this restaurant and must say I was blown away by the flavors of the food and the service. Highly recommended.
D. D.
You know a restaurant is good when even the delivery tastes amazing and fresh. I ordered the raw kitfo with teff injera and the FLAVOUR was out of this world. Later for breakfast, I heated them up with an egg and was so sad when I finished, because it was still that good. Also really appreciate that it wasn't very greasy, because kitfo often hurts my stomach when people just pour grease in. This was perfect. Counting down the days until I go back!
A. M.
Amazing customer service and the food is absolutely incredible !!! The people working here are very friendly and welcoming :)

A great Ethiopian restaurant! We got the set meal for three, and it was plenty of food. I’ve had Ethiopian food several times before, even home cooked, and this food was just as authentic and flavorful as any Ethiopian meal I’ve had before. Spicy as well. The service was WONDERFUL. Would definitely come back!

If you like a casual atmosphere, hearty (&spicy if requested) food, big portions, cheap alcohol and sourdough bread, then you will probably love this place. Great for early stage dating - you know you are ready to step up the relationship when you are comfortable eating with your hands and bare with seeing the other person eat ribs. In winter, the warm decor and lighting inside makes it a great place to go to on a weekday evening (not as crowded as weekends). In summer, fight for the two tables outside, in the shade overlooking a small park. For my boyfriend (big big big foodie) and I this is the place to go for a comfy night out - and we both recommend it to whoever visits London. I must confess we are hooked on the 2 menu items we tried first and order the same thing every time we go - lamb ribs and spicy lamb stew (I think they are items 12 and 17 on the , but don't quote me). However, they have plenty of beef, chicken, vegetarian options - maybe a bit too many which makes decision making hard. Staff is amazingly warm and friendly - so much that you wish they were your neighbors. Enjoy!
B. Y.
Great food and amazing service, one of the better Ethiopian restaurants in London! We had the ribs and dry fried lamb with the vegetarian selection and it was very good. I would recommend it as a place to sample Ethiopian food.
O. D.
The food is what makes this place special. The flavours are strong and unique, every dish caressing the taste buds. I shared a meat tasting platter for two and it was stunning. No other word necessary. Only reason one might be cautious is if hot food or rare mince is a problem. Even then, the server tells you that he's happy to change if the food is not to your taste. It was to my taste and the quantity was far more than enough. You won't need to eat again for a while.
F. T.
came here end of last year for my first experience of Ethiopian food. The owner was very friendly and made some good recommendations. The food to me tasted like slowcooked curry in a spongy pancake. Tastewise it was excellent and we washed it down with a homemade traditional honeywine that was neither too strong nor too sweet. Definitely recommended if you are at all interested in Ethiopian food
M. L.
Delicious Ethiopian food! This is the first time I've tried Ethiopian food and it was absolutely delicous! The owners are lovely and service is great. Will certainly be back.
S.
You must try it at least once.
Cheaper than other Ethiopian restaurants. Big portions. Delicious and fresh ingredients. No need to know what's on the menu. Tell the owner what you like and he'll advise you properly. He cares about his guests. Trust me. No service charge. Very good Ethiopian beer too. I'd eat there everywhere if I could.
j. h.
First time here for us....
We will be back. Awsome food. Spicey colourfull and fresh. A wonderfull new experience. Spotless clean .Loverly atmosphere. Thankyou j and sully cambridge
N. S.
Ethiopian food quite nice and delicious. Service bit slow but the place was busy. The injera was fresh and sour as expected. Kifo, tibs, dorwot, all served authentically and delicious
C. R.
We got the yetsom beyaynetu (vegetarian combination) and the one chicken dish and it was amazing. The food it really affordable (9£ per dish) and they give you a ton of food. The staff are super sweet and you could tell they care about their customers.
E. H. (.
As many others have said, this is a great Ethiopian restaurant. What distinguishes this from so many other Ethiopian restaurants in the area is that the staff are super friendly and will patiently explain the dishes and help you choose the dishes that you'd enjoy. We said we like spicy dishes, and they brought out a selection of spices and even packaged up some spices to take home! The prices are very reasonable and there's no worry about going hungry. The decor is standard Ethiopian restaurant, which is plain with some Ethiopian artwork, with Ethiopian music playing in the background. Not very romantic or high-end, but very enjoyable and fun and yummy.
N. A.
Amazing Ethiopian food! great service, nice atmosphere. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again next time.
L. O.
A wonderful place - delicious food, home made honey wine, really friendly staff who helped me decide what to order from a menu where everything looks delicious - even brought me extra injera and then a small pot of spiced tea while I read my book afterwards. All up only £12 for the lot. I'll be back!
S.
A great Ethiopian restaurant in North London! Best kitfo in London no doubt!
K. Z.
Maybe not the best place to bring someone for a first date, but definitely worth a subsequent visit! We didn't know what to expect so the visit was a bit of a shock for us (but in a good way). We ordered Special Kifto (not too spicy, please) and Alicha Wot (it reminded us of goulash a bit :D), with some beer and homemade Ethiopian honey wine Tej. Let me tell you - the Tej was soooo good! Definitely will visit again as it was a very nice and unusual experience!
S. M.
Great food. I was pleasantly surprised with the no. of vegetarian options they had! Lip smacking! And very decently priced. Will definitely recommend!
R. F.
The food was delicious. The staff super nice. This restaurant is a true hidden gem.
S. P.
Traditional Ethiopian restaurant in the heart of Finsbury park, good quality meat and great traditional beers served.
R. B.
Very nice food, very tidy and nice place.
J. W.
Even in London, the ultimate cultural mixing pot, Ethiopian restaurants are not too common. Here's one which is sans pareil. The welcome is warm, the ambience relaxed. Staff are friendly and happy to explain the menu for first timers.
A word too about the malty Ethiopian beer - complements the food perfectly.
In sum? Delicious food. I will be back.
L. H.
So delicious and super affordable. Ask the waiter for advice on what to order, you'll have a better meal! Definitely coming back soon.
I. M.
Really great food. Will definitely come back to try more dishes.
D.
Our first time trying Ethiopian food and couldn't have had a better experience. The owner was helpful and attentive. The food looked lovely and tasted even better. We were given advice on what to order and were grateful we listened (we had the vegetarian platter for 2). A cosy environment to spend time - time you will need because the portions are large! Highly recommended.
P. E.
I wish I could give this place more stars. The food was phenomenal and lovely service :)
J. H. K.
Now as an Eritrean, I am very familiar with the cuisine and I know what good Ethiopian/Eritrean food tastes like. I have been to so many restaurants in the UK and abroad and nothing, and I mean nothing tastes as good as what this restaurant has to offer. Everytime I visit, its almost like going back home for a few hours and eating my mother's recipes again. Wolkite stands out!
N. M.
Friendly staff and food. But prices on the website needs updating as prices are different restaurant menu than what they have on the restaurant website.
T. B.
Vegi platter for two beyond words 👌👌👌. Great value, great flavour, great Ethiopian beer. Absolute hidden gem 💎
D. V.
Lovely family business, a gem in the area! I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to Wolkite for a few years now. The delicious food and natural friendlyness I've always found here made it my absolute favourite restaurant in London! You can't go wrong with Goden Tibs, but plenty of delicious vegan options too! I strongly recommend the Honey wine and the traditional coffee!
C. B.
Been eating here regularly since 2015. Delicious food, excellent vegan/vegetarian options. Isaac is wonderful, always ready to recommend something if you can't decide. Best restaurant in London imo.
Z. L.
Visited back in January. This is hands down some of the best, if not the best food I've ever eaten of any variety. I've been to other Ethiopian restaurants and this blows them out of the water. The Asa Wot was absolutely fantastic and the Tej is incredible. The hosts were lovely, making the experience particularly memorable. If I could, I'd book another flight to London just to eat here once more.
H.
Food here is delicious! Injera dish is made fresh so be prepared to wait.
Advice: book in advance
R. H.
I'd eaten delicious Ethiopian food in Uganda and Ethiopia. First time I'd tried it in London.
Had the vegetarian set menu and the tilapia. There were seven or eight vegetable dishes to savour - spicy but not chilli hot. The tilapia had a nice chilli kick to it. Will definitely be back.
(Restaurant is set back from the road so very easy to drive past it - twice in my case.)
M. E.
Amazing food and the kindest people
E. O.
Brilliant food! Brilliant service! Hidden gem...
S. P.
Wolkite has become our local favorite! When we had our first meal there, beginners to eating Ethiopian food, we were given great advice by the waiter on what food to try. Since then, we’ve enjoyed dining at Wolkite numerous times and always book a table when we have visiting guests!
K. A.
In search of a new experience - this was a spontaneous take away find that is now on my list to visit in person!
Our first time eating Ethiopian food and I'm a fan! We got the recommended vegetarian set for 2ppl plus an additional (gluten free) teff flour injera to try (the darker flatbread). The portion was more than enough for 2 to share with a selection of 8-10 different dishes with 2 large injera.
The food was really tasty, spicy and aromatic. (spicy flavours, this option wasn't spicy hot)
As it was a take away, whilst waiting for delivery, we got a bit 'into the experience' and watched a video on how to plate up and eat injera.
I would recommend based on both taste and variety, I'm not sure on price as my first time, although other reviews say it is reasonable for the food and service. I'll be excited to try this restaurant again.
Available on both uber eats and deliveroo. The delivery on Saturday night was around 50min. Arrived hot.

Great to see Wolkite's doors open again! This is my favorite Ethiopian restaurant in London. (I've probably been to 8 or 10.) The vegetarian plate is perfect for two -- pretty much every dish on it is delicious. I recommend the dark teff flour, though some people prefer the lighter bread. The owner couldn't be nicer.
S. P.
Delicious Ethiopian food! Staff were pleasant and the portions were good sizes - managed our party of 15 very well with various platters. Honey wine was lovely. Shame it's so tucked away from the high street!
S. P.
First time I had this type of cuisine and it was definitely an experience!
E. P.
Best Ethiopian Restaurant. Amazing food and great friendly service.
E. O.
Came across this restaurant very randomly recently. I must say it is fantastic and very authentic. The waiters were very helpful and kind. The portions are big, the food tasty and the prices really reasonable.
Will definitely be returning! :)
M. F.
Wolkite is one of my favorite restaurants in London! Excellent vegetarian and vegan options along with helpful staff and delicious food. I love to bring people here when they visit because this style of meal is great to share with friends and family. The owner is always around to help you choose the right dishes!
C. G.
Nice vegetarian platters and meat lovers platters to share. Nice attentive service. Great place to go with a group. Very affordable.
S. E.
Most genuine Ethiopian food I’ve had in London!
D. W.
Fantastic variety and quantity of tasty food, both vegetarian and meat. Reasonably priced.
C. S.
Very nice wonderful food I've been going there for many years from the place first opened. I feel that I've got a good relationship with the man that owns that place the boss is very nice guy. As I am from the West Indian community I feel very welcome every time I go there and order from him. And I can also see the whole of different minorities Communities going there and enjoying their food as well. I've given them 5 Stars because they are very nice and friendly service. So anyone who's wondering whether to go there to enjoy a nice meal that is the place to be.
Y. Z.
Its Great place to good and healthy meal with friends or family. Its Ethiopian cusion.
P. H.
Excellent food. Wonderful atmosphere. In a quiet corner a stone's throw from the Arsenal Stadium. The staff was very nice and attentive . They even answered all of our questions about the food. They're even working on adding soy items to the menu to accommodate the vegan people who eat there. When you do here I highly suggest you get the honey wine.
A. C.
Great local east african food resturant and good value for money :)
D. M.
My friends and I came here for their first Ethiopian food experience. The place is run by a warm, welcoming and lovely brother and sister who do all the cooking themselves and on the spot. The walls are covered with beautiful portraits from back home and the experience was immensely authentic. If all that wasn't great enough, the food was beyond amazing..too good to put into words (and very affordable)! We wiped the plates clean. Definitely go in and try it out for yourselves!
T. S.
Every time we've visited the service is so friendly, the waiter is always keen to talk to us and tell us more about Ethiopia and Ethiopian food, and it's obvious that he really cares about making sure customers are happy. The food is really tasty, and the portions are very generous for the price, and the Ethiopian beer they sell is worth trying too. The other reviews are right, the restaurant doesn't look special, but the service and food are amazing, and I will keep coming back for sure.
C. W.
First time trying this food in a restaurant. and I can tell you it taste authentic and homemade. Amazing food great cosy restaurant. very reasonable. lovely portions. can’t wait to go back again 😊
A. S.
This is one of my favourite restaurants. The food is excellent (try the sharing platter) and the host is so welcoming. I always enjoy taking my friends here, and I recommend trying the mead (honey beer) and traditional coffee.
S. C.
Delicious food, amazing staff... The duck salad is a must it's just so good. It's a dish that's meant to be shared, but I kinda ordered it for myself today. Words can't describe it so do yourself a favour and order it!
m. l.
Nice and chilled atmosphere with good food.
J. B.
Delicious food and very friendly staff. Left with a full stomach and the recipe for making my own injera! Wonderfully extensive menu, too
E. V.
10/10 food (the big sharing platter is fantastic *chefs kiss*) and some great Ethiopian beers. Went there a couple of times now and will definitely go again.
C. S.
Fantastic food, we go here regularly. The owners are friendly and helpful. Can't wait to be able to eat in again.
N. W.
The food was so good it actually solved the petty argument my parents were having
O. G.
It's one of the few places where one can feel at home. I like the diversity of people and enjoy trying new dishes all the time. The food quality doesn't change and it's always excellent and lovingly made. Isaac the owner is amazing, friendly and welcoming. The fact that the prices do not compare to the top restaurants of London doesn't reflect in the quality of the meal. In fact, I've been to many posh places where the food is just pretentious and service is not as good. I highly recommend this place.
A. C.
My fiancé and I had a wonderful meal last week!!Lovely hospitality and beautiful flavours! We will be back next week !
A. c.
The staff were very friendly and accommodating. The restaurant generally has a wonderful atmosphere but most of all, the food is superb. I have been to another Ethiopian restaurant in Camberwell Green but this is the best. The food is delicious and the prices are very reasonable. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
S. W.
Absolutely Amazing!! I am Ethiopian and visiting London for a short course during study abroad. I have been to lots of Ethiopian Restaurants so i know the difference between authentic dishes and "real" butters and spices and you can not get any more authentic than this. I went with a friend and the food was so good and the proportions were very generous. Service was also splendid. I will definitely be back.
F. T.
My wife and I were visiting London for a few days and stopped by here to get some Ethiopian food. The food was amazingly delicious and the service was out of this world. Definitely recommend it and will be coming back.
M. F.
Delicious well priced restaurant only a few minutes walk from the clock end of the Emirates.
Went here before a match, definitely book to get a table if it’s game game as everyone there was going to the game.
Service was super fast, with a homely smile and despite being busy and only having one person on the floor the young lady took time to explain parts of the menu to us and make suggestions.
The food was a decent portions with enough endurance injera (flatbread) to go around.
We got two dishes, the lamb and beef curry on a share platter of injera and it was delicious, full of flavour, well cooked meat and the right level of spice.
If your heading to the Emirates for a game or just happen to be in the area - definitely a place worth trying, I’ll be back here again.
R.
Lovely simple restaurant serving great tasty food with attentive and helpful service. The staff were very helpful and accommodating of our requests for slight changes. The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Chairs very very comfy too. Can't recommend more!
J. N.
Excellent flavoursome food, we had the mixed set menu with ribs as the accompaniment (recommended by the waiter). Nice atmosphere and friendly staff, I will be going back.
C. F.
Lovely evening. First time eating Ethiopian cuisine so it was certainly an experience. Food was fantastic. The bottle of Syrah was delicious. Service was laid back but the gent was lovely. Would highly recommend.
K. M.
Very small place. Nothing fancy but good and authentic Ethiopian food and the host was very sweet and considerate!
T. H.
If you choose to go ANYWHERE else to eat in London you are letting yourself down, by far the best Habesha restaurant in Europe (We really have tried that many restaurants in that many countries), the only restaurant with even close to a comparably high standard of food is Gojo in Stockholm.
Isaac is a kind and generous host and his sister makes food worth flying internationally for, their Berbere is divine, their popcorn coffee brings shame to local coffee shops and the vast selection of vegan options mean you’ll leave in a happy coma of satisfaction, just be sure to book a table in advance, there’s rarely a free seat in the house any time of day, for obvious reasons! If you visit London and don’t eat at Wolkite you’ll never understand what you’ve missed out on.
M. H.
We were recommended the restaurant, and it didn't disappoint. Great food, lovely atmosphere and friendly staff. If you have never tried Ethiopian food, come here and give it a go, I am sure you will not be disappointed.
D. H.
I've had Ethiopian food in several countries INCLUDING Ethiopia itself, and this place definitely ranks in my top 3. Definitely top in London.
A. T.
If you are hungry for a true traditional Ethiopian food with respectful customer service, this is a very ideal place. It's rating is great and i found it as advertised. Several varieties of delicious food and drinks.
S. T.
My wife and my friends have been coming here for over three years, and the experience is always excellent. The classical Ethiopian menu has a wide choices, and is reliably well prepared – my favourite is Kitffo. The service is friendly and attentive Ethiopian music playing in the background. And the price is reasonable - in particular with the various 2-3 course available at all times. I strongly recommend to try the place.
D. N.
Food is delicious. One of the best Ethiopia restaurants in London by far!! A wide variety of traditional Ethiopian cusine and a good atmospheres.can be quite busy so if your attending with a large group I would suggest calling in advance to reserve a table
A. N.
Excellent food, got to taste authentic Ethiopian food and is quite similar to Indian food so that was a bonus.Already been there 4 times and tried many dishes all are wonderful and different.Lots of vegetarian options as well and the owner/host is really nice and helpful.
R. C.
Great food variety with meat and several vegetarian options. Service was efficient. The proprietor was nice and helpful. The dry lamb dish with sauce on the side was outstanding.
F. M.
Three persons for lunch pre-Arsenal game (200 yards from the restaurant). It was really fun and terrific value. Very different food from normal high street food, extremely flavoursome and well presented. Service was excellent with interesting insights from the manager. Highlights were the Tej (honey wine), the beef and vegetarian main course dishes and the coffee. Restaurant style is basic so you don't go for the plush surroundings. The norm is to eat with hands but the restaurant has cutlery if you don't feel comfortable with this. Before coming to the restaurant, I wondered why it was so highly rated given its location but now I know why. I would 100% recommend this to friends and will definitely go again myself.
A. A.
This is a great place to get authentic Ethiopian food in London. You walk in and you might as well be in a little shop in Ethiopia with the decoration and all, it's also a very good sign that about 80% of the patrons were Ethiopian, says a lot I think. Amazing flavours, friendly staff and it's also well priced: £30-£40 for two people,
A. S.
I am a huge fan of the Ethiopian food and this is by far the best I've ever had. I will be coming back regularly. The owner Isaac is so friendly and welcoming - he makes it feel like a home cooked meal
m.
Outside I already smelled the spices. Amazing and weird dough. Great novelty factor.
J. E.
This place is a true hidden gem nestled near the Emirates stadium. I absolutely adore injera and here I find the most flavoursome food that goes down a treat with the honey wine that they personally make in store. I recommend repeat visits to explore the whole menu. It feels like you're being welcomed in to a family home for the most wonderfully cooked food. I can't recommend this place enough and everyone is so friendly. Deffo go for a visit - you won't regret it!
G. W.
Wolkite Kitfo is a really fabulous Ethiopian restaurant. Excellent food at a great price. I've been a lot of times with friends and especially like to go to Wolkite Kitfo when I have friends or relatives visiting from out of London. The owner is very attentive and is happy to make recommendations if you haven't eaten Ethiopian before. I'd strongly recommend it.

We went for a late Sunday lunch. This was my second visit to an Ethiopian restaurant, first time in London. Don't get discouraged by the exterior, interior is nicely decorated with depictions from Ethiopian culture. We were quickly seated, although the restaurant was quite packed at the time. The staff was very nice and attentive. I asked about their special honey wine - Tej and the server was nice enough to bring me a little glass to sample it. The food was delicious - we had both meat (lamb) dish and a vegetarian dish, both served with an injera (Ethiopian "flatbread"). The portions were actually quite large and we were not able to eat it all, so the staff was nice enough to ask us if we wanted the rest of our food packed to go. All in all we paid little over 20 pounds for two drinks and two dishes, which is quite a bargain for London. We were very satisfied - whether you already tried Ethiopian or you want to try it for the first time, this is definitely the place to do so.
T. B.
As many others have said, this is a great Ethiopian restaurant. What distinguishes this from so many other Ethiopian restaurants in the area is that the staff are super friendly and will patiently explain the dishes and help you.The prices are very reasonable and there's no worry about going hungry. The decor is standard Ethiopian restaurant, which is plain with some Ethiopian artwork, with Ethiopian music playing in the background. Not very romantic or high-end, but very enjoyable and fun and yummy.
S. M.
Wolkite was absolutely delicious! Yesak was a fabulous host and helped us pick delicious menu items and even sent out samples of dishes for us to try new things we didn't order (which we will definitely order next time!). Everything was authentic and tasted as if we were in Ethiopia. A great value dinner with even better service. We will certainly be back!
E. D.
Definitely the best Ethiopian food in London, and amongst the best I've had out of South Africa, Kenya, France and the US. Highly recommended and whilst I am living in the UK I will be a regular, even travelling in from Ascot to go here frequently. Don't be put off by the exterior, the service is friendly and the food is brilliant. Huge array of vegetarian options and without doubt the best beef alecha that I've had.
P. S.
We had the sharing platter of mixed meat and various sauces, which was delicious; however the service was really slow and we waited for more than 40 minutes for the food to come; only the owner was serving of more than 5 tables and 20 people in the restaurant. However, the staff is very friendly and welcoming; and the food and drinks are quite cheap. We were a bit disappointed after all, given the high expectations we had based on the number and highly rated reviews in Google.

Tasty and interesting food and very friendly staff!

Amazing food, Everytime!!
The owner is incredibly friendly, and the staff are the right mix of understanding of dietary restrictions, allergies, and preferences, while never compromising on taste, quality, service, or customer satisfaction.
We visit Wolkite whenever we are anywhere near London!!
In a city with some of the best vegan choices in the world, and a staggeringly excellent assortment of Habesha establishments, Wolkite stands out as the gold standard of deliciously satisfying Ethiopian cuisine to a couple of travellers, who have made it our mission to sample as much Yetsom Beyaynetu as we are able to in our adventures throughout seven countries and counting!
S. D. R.
I had Ethiopian food before, but this one was absolutely on a different level. No wonder why this restaurant is one of the highest rated in Trip Advisor. It's just too good and extremely convenient too.
S. L.
The best ethiopian food we ever ate. The restaurant itself is run by a lovely couple who are very sympathetic and nice people.
Would go again anytime.
S. M.
Probably the best Ethiopian restaurant in North London. Brilliant value, absolutely delicious, and friendly staff. I've been here twice in the last few weeks since discovering it, and looking forward to going again. Definitely highly recommended.
J. B.
Friendly service, relaxed atmosphere, keen to give me free samples of things he thought I might like. Best Ethiopian food I've had, and low prices.
Perfect for vegans, vegetarians and omnivores.
J. B.
This is such a great place - the owner cares so much about his customers! The food is delicious - so fresh - lovely tej, and gluten free injera on request too. Can’t wait to return!
Ł. Z.
Very nice food. Feels authentic. Home cooking vibe. Good prices vs. what you get. Ok beer. A bit slow service.
S. V. (.
Delicious veggie set menu. Everything was vegan, so everyone at the table could dig in and enjoy.
A comfortable and welcoming atmosphere.
Very affordable!
D. H.
The owner was very helpful in suggesting vegetarian options. Food took a little while but not too long. We had about 10 different small dishes on the same plate. They were varied in ingredients and taste and of a very high standard. Recommended.
W.
An amazing experience every time. Quality food and great service. Servings are generous and staff are very friendly. Don't be shy and try the Kitfo (raw beef)! Can be a bit slow when busy but it's always worth the wait.
J. F.
My first experience of Ethiopian food and I loved it. Helpful service, amazing food and a nice place to be. Try the Ethiopian honey wine, delicious and deceptively alcoholic!
R. D.
Best Ethiopian Food in London at the moment.. their Gomen, Beyenetu (Veg platter) and shiro are very flavoursome and fresh and usually they have teff injera but always call to check first. Buna ceremony is on point! Service is Ok, decore not my thing but part of the character. I always recommend this spot as the food never disappoints.
A.
What a fantastic restaurant - Fresh, delicious, welcoming, child-friendly. We have been coming here for years and it's always great.
l. a.
This place surprised me! I went with a friend, we were both craving some familiar dishes from home, what we got was just that - home food like the one a grandmother would prepare. The space was wonderfully quaint and the service excellent. Ato Yishak is the name of the gentleman that served us, his suggestions on which dish we should go for on that day matched the overall excellence of the restaurant. If you are in London and looking for a place to try out new food, or a fellow East African wanting a little reminder of home...GO!
S. P.
The Food has the Original flavours and taste the service is efficient and friendly
A. M.
Very friendly place, lots of families and groups of friends. Amazing food, served on large platters with flat bread. We ate with our hands using the bread/pancake, although I would expect that cutlery is available on demand.
A. m.
Reservations are highly appreciated as the excellent service attracts east Africans and others to this small cosy restaurant named after an indigenous Ethiopian tribe, best known for it's simple fried mince meat, ( no other ingredients) what makes it so excellent, pop in to find out.
J. T.
One of those places were you get incredible food for less money. I highly recommend this place because of its great atmosphere and amazing food. From all Ethiopian/ Eritrean places I have been in London, this is certainly my favourite. Musts have are Kitfo, Tibs and Kikil.
N. N.
Very authentic Ethiopian food which is absolutely delicious! I was really impressed by this place, it's a very different dining experience. Very reasonably priced too
I. W.
Great food, well-priced, generous portions and lovely staff!
R. H.
Food was delicious! Had the vegetarian meal for two. Took a little while for the the food to come out, but the food itself made up for that.
A. M.
Simply great experience overall! Must try the Ethiopian coffee where the coffee beans are freshly roasted and ground to make you that clay pot of coffee. Staff are very friendly and the prices are quite reasonable for London. Try the combination platter for two (about 22 quid) and look out for the yummy Doro wat! If you are a fan of mead you might want to consider TEJ (honey wine from Ethiopa, brewed in-house) as a part of your meal. I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for some exotic cuisine!
A. S.
Most definitely the best Ethiopian restaurant in all of London, and probably the whole of the UK. The quality of the service is equivalent to the food. I highly recommend you try the "Fintafinto", a unique gurage dish which is only served in Wolkite Kitfo. From personal experience, once you taste what Wolkite Kitfo has to offer, you will never go anywhere else!
B. T.
Wow, amazing. Inspired me to try out more Ethiopian food. So so good with a great service and a friendly cosy vibe.
N. W.
Went here for the first time. Absolutely loved it. Beautiful flavours, nice atmosphere and run by a very very nice man who didn't give me a hard time when I asked for a fork. Haha. Highly recommended. Cheap and cheerful!!! Go!
N. M.
The food taste really nice and the staff are friendly, plus not too far from the greatest team in London.... Arsenal ❤
H. H.
The ultimate best Ethiopian food in London
S. S.
An amazing place to try out Ethiopian cuisine. Serves vegetarian too. Staff is very courteous and warm. Keep going back. Must try.
A. D.
Spicy food is one of my top things to eat. If you eat here be traditional and use your hands, it's worth it! I just love the bread the foods are served on. Chicken is my go to here.
F. S. D.
Best Ethiopian restaurant I have been to in London, as good as the food from home. Good combination of dishes, service and cheap price. Absolutely recommend it to anyone.
A. T.
Simply the best Ethiopian food, I won't give them less that 5 stars, but they definitely need to employ at least 2 more waitresses during busy times. The wait time is ridiculous.
D.
Been walking past this lovely restaurants for years and today I went over to buy some of that good soul food for the family. Great food and great service. Definitely will be going back.
B. S.
When it was suggested that it was time to wash our hands, I thought this merely cursory until I found myself and my friends picking from a giant shared plate with only the aid of a squishy pancake-like thing, which served as an excellent scoop for the incredibly diverse, richly flavoured range of 'sauces' we'd ordered. Lamb...chickpeas... lentils...delicate spices and tastes which left us all collectively going "woahh try this one... no this one, too...WOAHHH no that one, too!"
A unique experience accompanied by the best mead - and possibly drink in general - that I have had in London - least of all for £15/each including drinks. Informal atmosphere and nicely decorated space. Top marks.
T. S.
A very nice welcoming even though we were a little late. Gorgeous food and quite ok wine for a very good price. Service very kind and attentive, even if waiting time was a little long. Would come back
K. I.
It's nice ittle place, stationed not too far from the Emirates football stadium. Service is good and the food is ok, nothing to get too excited about. But the service is good and general is good experience.
H. T.
Fantastic food, friendly atmosphere, and catered for my vegan needs. Definitely recommend and hope to visit again next time we're in London.
O. D.
Had a great evening at Wolkite Kitfo. Delicious authentic Ethiopian food served hot, fresh and tasty with spicy meat and wholesome vegetarian options. Highly recommended.
R. M.
Wonderful food and customer service. I’ve had underwhelming experiences with African food before, but I’m glad I decided to try Ethiopian and that I found this great place to do so.
a. s.
Amazing food don't be put off by its exterior. Situated very close to Arsenals ground. Very good choice for veggies to. Excellent value and really tasty fresh food and great staff and service.
R. T.
Thank you for the lovely kitfo it was very tasty as usual. Well done for kipping the same standard .
l. l.
Best Ethiopian food I've had. Visited with a friend just back from 3 weeks there and she was happy too. Great service
P. R.
Delicious, fresh food, relaxed atmosphere, friendly people. A really nice experience and conveniently located right next to Sobell gym, so perfect for after workout meal. And very good prices too!
N. F.
A really nice change from the usual dinning experience. Really pleasant and chilled out restaurant with very friendly faces. The good was varied and delicious, a mix of veggie and meat :)
L. P.
Had a great experience at this restaurant. I have never tasted Ethiopian food before but I tell you this I will be trying it again because of this place the food was 10/10 the staff was 10/10 and the whole experience was 10/10
M. H.
Family business restaurant manned by super friendly owners. One of the best ethnic restaurants we found in N1, whilst living in and exploring the neighborhood for 2 years.
A. W.
This is a great restaurant with friendly staff. I work in Ethiopia and whenever I'm back in London I like to try different habesha restaurants, this one is definitely up there with my favourites!
Y. W.
Thanks so much for boss(? I guess) and stuff there, very very friendly and kind. A dish we ordered was a little bit sour for my friend and I, coz we haven't eat sour food before. However goden tibea is amazing.
V. T.
Good service, good food. Try the tej honey wine which is more like a honey ale. Also try awaize tibs ( lamb stew) nice and spicy. I recommend the veggie combination dish to try everything.
R. B.
Great place! Food was amazing and the staff super helpful and friendly!!
Will defiantly be going again
Only reason it doesn't get 5 stars is because it was pretty cold in there.
a.
Unbelievable food, particularly the kitfo and the chickpea curry. Very friendly service as well. One of my absolute favourite restaurants in London. Absolute hidden gem.
j. w.
Delicious, fragrant (and very spicy if you want it) Ethiopian food. Eat with your hands from a big pancake / plate that you share. Something different and delicious
T. P.
The Wolkite was an absolute joy - friendly and informative service and the food was so fresh and tasty - exactly as described on the menu with each flavour recognisable. A must for anyone who needs something different and healthy
R. F.
Very nice and familiar atmosphere and excellent food. We love injera and Tej (Honey wine from Ethiopia).
Thanks for the good time.
E. P.

With a simple cozy atmosphere, this restaurant baffled me with the food and friendliness of it's staff. Very good price for a very good amount of food. It's a place I'd like to come back to without a doubt.
T. E.
I couldn't fault this restaurant. It is clear the chef cares a lot about freshness, quality and flavour. The food is fantastic and I would definitely recommend the honey wine.
A. Y.
We had to wait a very long time, I mean very long...long...long...long time. Finally the food came and it was the most delicious food. However because of the long wait we experianced, we all said we will never go back until they get more stuff to help out in the kitchen.
M. S.
Hidden gem. Lovely people, super tasty food, great value, proper Ethiopian beer. I'd go back in a shot.
A. P.

A. L.
My friend and I had an excellent time here! We ordered the sharing platter for two. The server was very attentive and friendly, when my friend said she couldn’t eat anything too spicy the lady said she’d reassure the chef made the dish less spicier than usual.
The honey wine was delicious and worth trying, not too sweet and nice fermentation. When my friend had a fly dive into her wine, the server was gracious enough to give her a fresh glass at no extra charge. The injera came hot and delicious. The quality of the curries were top notch, with the ribs highly recommended. Am definitely coming back!

(Translated) A distinctive restaurant, and you will experience eating in a completely strange way, as they are served on the Ethiopian way, so meat and vegetables are in a plate on an Ethiopian bread that you cut from and eat with. After eating they serve you Ethiopian coffee in their totally different way. The venue is minutes away from the Arsenal stadium, the staff are very nice and accept all questions about Ethiopian traditions. Although I enjoyed every moment in the restaurant, I don't think about going again!
(Original)
J. B.
(Translated) Absolutely excellent !! First time in this restaurant and it was a wonderful culinary discovery. Dishes full of flavor, and overall quite spicy. House honey wine that goes perfectly with the very marked tastes of the different preparations. The service is relatively long, but despite a little annoyance we were ultimately not disappointed to wait!

Absolument excellent!!

(Translated) Really delicious food !!!
We became aware of this restaurant via TripAdvisor. And I can say that we were not disappointed!
The owner gave us a friendly welcome and since we did not know exactly what we should eat - have never been to an Ethiopian restaurant - he gave us great advice. The food was very well presented and really delicious! The price was great too. Two main dishes, plus vegetables and four drinks for £ 31. This is rarely found in London.
This restaurant is definitely worth a visit!
Thumbs up!

Richtig leckeres Essen!!!
Daumen hoch!

(Translated) Share experience from this place? I try to keep myself short. It's been a good 3 months since I ate here with friends and I can still remember the taste.
It was one of the top 5 meals I've had in my life! Maybe the best, because I just can't forget it. The variety of dishes, the experience of eating together and the friendliness of the owners make a meal a wonderful memory. Something that lasts longer than a usual feeling of satiety. Something that you can take home without having to pick up another piece of luggage at the airport. It is enough to loosen the belt a little.
I will come back every time I should be back in London! Thank you for this unforgettable experience!

(Translated) I have been there 3 times each time and it was so outstanding to this place. This is a quiet place, good location and run by lovely people. The food is amazing and traditional and I also love the atmosphere. Mead is also worth a try. This place is very underrated and it makes a great night with friends or a date. Highly recommend this hotel
