Reviews of Yuhoki Japanese Restaurant
D. E.
Went to have lunch here around 2 p.m. on a Saturday and although it wasn't full of customers, there were still a whole load of takeaway orders being prepared so the restaurant was busy, but our food still came to the table very promptly and every dish we ordered turned out to be great!
I probably won't say it's the best Japanese food I've had, but given the price (less than £10 for that Katsu dish!) and compared to more established places like 'Wagamama', then Yuhoki is an amazing choice! It's a small restaurant so not sure how difficult it will be to get a table during peak hours, but I'd recommend it to anyone who's around Canary Wharf and craving Japanese food!
A. T.
This is a lovely little restaurant tucked away in Canary wharf.
The food here is of high quality and priced reasonably. I enjoyed it very much.
Service was great. Usually if you order tap water you'd have to ask for a refill but this was done without any prompting.
Chicken is only Halal.
I will definitely go back here.
A. T.
Very fresh sushi. Very affordable considering it's so colder to canary wharf. Delicious food, especially the una don (eel rice bowl). Definitely recommend, you won't regret it.
C. A. Y.
Found another tiny jewel, a wonderful sushi restaurant hiding in Canary Wharf, Yuhoki. The atmosphere is fantastic, ingredient is fresh and staff are very friendly.
The tempura prawns are highly recommended and the sushi is delicious. The restaurant also offers a long list of Japanese Sake to accompany all the delicious food.
D. C.
Ordered Uber eats from this restaurant, a unagi salmon fusion roll and an avocado salmon roll as I had a discount code for 50% off. Both rolls were decent but the salmon to rice ratio was a bit low so probably not worth the full price. However we don’t have many sushi/Japanese restaurants in the area and this restaurant is convenient and quick.
A. T.
We have recently lost our favourite delivery sushi place, but Yuhoki definitely makes up for it! Sushi quality is very nice, prices are decent. Yep, good stuff!
W. Z.
Reliable, tasty and super reasonable prices. A neighbourhood gem.
Shout out to the friendly waitress who was very polite both to customers and delivery riders — really lovely to see!
Only taking 1 star off as I hope they can consider reinstating chicken gyozas for their bentos (the veggie ones aren’t good) :)
g. b.
dined in - really enjoyed the food and service was good - would love to go back! had the eel, chicken karaage, octopus balls and sushi platter - it was delicious!! plum wine was interesting, very sweet. good price for the amount of food we got - very good service too. will be back

Excellent food
Way better than I expected
Very tasty and very reasonably priced
Easy parking outside after 6 pm
Clean and very friendly staff
Highly recommend

This restaurant is amazing!! Came here to celebrate my boyfriend's birthday, and we were not disappointed! It was a great choice. The food came promptly within 8minutes, and we ordered alot of food! Food was fresh and delicious. Waiter who served us was polite and lovely. The tables are quite big too, so had lots of space. The Seaweed salad was a generous portion, and so good. Only minor thing (which could have been better), is the sushi rice being abit soft... So sushi fell apart when picking it up with chopsticks. Other than that, was very happy l chose this place. Will come again :D
L. B.
A true hidden gem of the London Japanese scene. You pay a very fair price (especially by London standards) for an exquisite meal! Every dish was delicious, well crafted and looked amazing. Not to mention the portion sizes (by sushi standards) were on the larger side. If you want somewhere to get good sushi without breaking the bank in the process, this is certainly the place to go alone or in a group.
J.
Fabulous Sushi in a relaxed setting with really friendly people. Very reasonable too. Will be back for certain.
Y. M.
Katsu was nice and cheap, service quick and easy, just wish there were more halal options
A. R.
The spot is located not too far from my house, therefore when me and my partner are lazy to cook, we either go there or order food straight home. The food is very delicious and portions are generous, affordable prices and huge range of choices on the menu.
B. S.
We discovered Yuhoki from Google Maps & what a wonderful find! The food was what I could only describe as hearty / tasty Japanese cuisine with a home cooked touch. Service was friendly and helpful, and we had our baby with us and they looked after us well. Thank you - worth a visit :)
w.
First time me and partner been here, although we've ordered takeaway from here in the past and it's still as good.
Staff were nice and friendly, food came out on time, place was a little on the smaller size but seating on the outside if needed and location was alright.
Would recommend.
L.
A wonderful little find for some delicious sushi! I’ve been to quite a few sushi restaurants and for the price, this place was really good. Sushi was fresh and tasty, with a variety too. The sushi box was worth it! The only downfall would be the small area (but luckily we had seats as we went early on a Saturday morning) and average looking deco. Though, everything else was on point! Definitely recommend and definitely will visit again!
I. G.
Small Japanese place close to canary wharf with very decent food and a relatively cheap price for the area.
Fantastic chicken katsu curry and gyoza, I personally prefer the deep fried as they are tastier.
The place is really small but they do delivery
L. M.
Food was average. Overall ok.
B.
The sushi are nice and filling, the makis are good too. Fish is ok, rice is average.
This is a good balance between cost and quality and we enjoyed our food.
Went there during covid, they have ch airs and tables outside the restaurant if you need but a small walk to the docks and you'll have a much nicer view.
So if it is sunny, I'd highly recommend picking up some food and having lunch around the docks.
v. b.
Small restaurant with big character. Reasonable prices. Recommended!
M. S.
I had Takoyaki and the Una Don, and it was the first time i've eaten octopus and eel. The Takoyaki was crispy, creamy and chewy. The Una Don had a smooth and sweet taste. Really good food with quick service.
M. M.
Had a really fantastic dine-in meal here recently. Great food and service - would highly recommend!
D. R.
Wonderful, friendly atmosphere. Great service, loads of choice, beautifully presented food and excellent value. Small restaurant but with plenty to recommend it. Definitely worth a visit; we'll be back for sure!
M. C.
Lovey Japanese restaurants with warm and friendly staff. It’s off the beaten track and located near South Quay DLR. Small seating capacity but tables turn quick. Food comes out fast and chicken is halal.
J. U.
One of my favourite places to eat out, however due to covid regulations its been hard to enjoy a gem of a restaurant like this. However, the delivery services is extremely responsive and food comes well packed and fresh. The best Japanese take away and restaurant in town without a single drop of doubt. If you haven't tried the food here, your missing out! Leaves a smile on my face!
m. v.
Food was AMAZING, super fast service and excellent waiting staff. Small restaurant so we were served very quickly and was very reasonably priced. Would highly recommend and will certainly be going back, a hidden gem.
J. S.
Been here for many deliveries but this time took date for dinner. Amazing experience!
J. H.
Incredible sushi in the canary wharf area. Great views, excellent quality. Some of the best sushi I've ever had!
s.
Taste decent, good value for money
I. K.
Delicious authentic Japanese food at reasonable prices. This restaurant is unfortunately a bit out of the way from the main Canary Wharf area, but is still worth a visit
A. M.
Great food, plenty of choices, great service, food arrived quickly. Staff were very helpful and will be back!
K. T.
Ordered lunch take away which has 10% discount. Yummy local japanese. Polite and quick service. Thank you!
B. B.
A little hidden gem with tasty food, attentive service, and all at an affordable price. We had some special rolls, gyoza, yakitori, and warm sake.
J. B.
Some of the nicest sushi I’ve had in a while. The takoyaki and tofu was just as good! A little gem hidden in Canary Wharf.
S. P.
I often order from Yuhoki via Seamless and everytime the food is delivered promptly, is delicious and of consistent quality. I usually don’t bother to write review but we ordered from them via Just Eat today and the food arrived within 20 minutes of us placing the order. Needless to say, we were super impressed and will be ordering again!
If you happen to go there in person, they have an outside seating option which is really lovely in warm weather. It’s definitely worth a visit, all my friends I’ve been there with loved it.
C. D.
Newish little gem of a restaurant...well worth seeking out. It is a little bit tucked away oppersit #heron keys station. So the menu has a good selection of most categories Japanese foods with meat and vegetable alternatives...the Sushi was fresh and professional with some great seafood..not surprising that billingsgate market is a short walk away. This small restaurant is cosy and friendly with a relaxed feeling. They serve soft drinks as well as beers and saki..I went with the delicious fresh..refreshing green tea. The crispy dumplings were great and the dishes come with dips and accompaniments. It was not packed but several customers so conversation was easy to conduct
The prices for good quality Japanese food was very reasonable especially reconsidering you are at Canary wharf..this also means transport links are numerous and close. My companion and me had a good selection which left us pleased and satisfied but not heavy on the wallet. The area has become very popularly for Japanese work placements to live and work..which is why there is also a fantastic Japanese supermarket nearby...all well worth a visit. :)
D. B.
Absolutely brilliant food, can't recommend highly enough.
N. C.
Thought I'd treat myself to a takeaway and chose Yuhoki. I loved the food!. I had the chicken teriyaki bento with avocado making sushi roll fro takeaway. It really was a treat. I've never had bento like this. The restaurant has a cosy feel to it. Tucked away but accessible by car. I would definitely dine in and spend some time there. 10 out if 10.
S. S.
Easily the closest I've had to a Japanese restaurant experience outside of Japan, in every possible way.
The food is nothing short of exceptional, the takoyaki are absolutely to die for.
The service is prompt, polite, and efficient, and helpful too, I saw another waitress assisting a table next to me who were new to Japanese cuisine.
Best of all, they deliver, so whether it's in their tastefully decorated space, or sat on your own sofa, this is a true taste of the east I'll keep coming back to
M. Š.
Tried our first ever ramen here, not disapointed!
D. H.
Some of the best Japanese food I've had in London. Inside is a little small, but makes up for it with big flavour.
R. G.
I visited Yuhoki while in Canary Wharf for work and ordered take-away for myself and a colleague. We had hoped to order from the lunch special menu, but as it was Saturday this was unavailable. Instead, I opted for egg nigiri and the Sushi Deluxe Set: two salmon, tuna, sea bass and prawn nigiri, eight rainbow rolls, five California rolls and five salmon rolls (the salmon is listed as spicy on the menu, but they kindly made it non-spicy at my request). Maybe a little too much for two people, in retrospect, but I thought it was a good deal for the price and it was worth feeling full for!
A. M. W.
Really tasty food and well priced. We order take away at least twice a week.
K.
Small restaurant with only a couple of seats inside. We tend to order take away which was ready within 10mins of ordering via the just eat website. Sashimi and sushi is decent quality and theres a large choice in the menu.
Slight downfall of eating in is that the restaurant has a really strong fried oil smell throughout which can stick to your clothes. All in all, not bad.
J. M.
People may doubt the appearance and the small size of this place which to some, looks like a takeaway shop with a few tables, they may further doubt the authenticity when they discover it is run and owned by Chinese. Doubt no more and let the dishes speak for themselves. I have travelled far and wide, and can say the sushi and rolls are influence by West Coast of US and Canada rather than Japan. Absolutely delicious and creative, highlights include Spider Roll and the inside out Spicy Tuna Roll. The sushi themselves are perfectly sized without too much rice. As for the hot dishes they are closer to Japanese original recipes, the tempura is perfect without too much flour. I'm so glad to have a place like this near my home. Couple of things they could improve on are, as the place is small kitchen staff must make sure customers are comfortable by not constantly going in and out of the place (to smoke?), the 'skinny waiter' mentioned by another reviewer earlier on here could smile a bit more. And finally, the wonderful jazzy versions of 80's/90's pop songs, deserve a mention.
O. B.
Ordered a big selection of sushi as well as some kara-age and tempura, all very tasty and good portion sizes. Ordered for collection and it was ready very quickly, with friendly service when I arrived.
K. H.
I ordered a chicken katsu don, some takoyaki and a miso soup from them for delivery. Delivery time took 30 minutes longer than expected, which wouldn't have been a problem if there had been some messaged that said that (it only updated the delivery time once, to a 10 minute delay, and after that I had to wait another 30 minutes). The katsu don was good, there was a lot of chicken and it was a big portion as well. The miso soup was disappointing, my instant miso soup at home was nicer than this. I had two of the 5 takoyaki but I couldn't taste/find any piece of octopus in them, which was a shame as otherwise, they were nice. Prices were alright and there was lots to chose from on the menu.
J. K.
Such a cute little place. Amazing food. Wonderful and friendly staff. Highly recommend this hidden little gem on the island.
L. D. G.
What a great find! An authentic Japanese restaurant so close to home. I ordered the salmon bento box, and deep fried prawn gyoza, both were delicious!! The restaurant is quaint, and there is outdoor seating too. The staff were courteous and the service quick. I will definitely be back for more!!
s.
the chicken udon was lovely, i do which it was a bit spicier but the price was great and it was very filling
A. G.
Warm welcome, charming and helpful service and delicious food, very fresh ingredients and variety of flavours. This is a tiny restaurant, so great to get a table and we enjoyed the relaxed ambience with carefully soft music. A great way to spend a winter Friday night as visitors in London and an unexpected bonus to our trip.
K. O.
Very elegant and accessible place. They serve generous portions and for fair rates. We loved the meals a lot and the waiters were very friendly and informative. Highly recommended.
-. C.
Ebi Tempura was a bit soggy, but everything else was divine. I would definitely recommend the fusion rolls.
A. H.
Amazing food and excellent service. Everything tasted fresh and flavoursome and came out fast.
Also the person who served us has superhuman memory as he took orders off of four of us without noting it down and we ordered multiple dishes each. When the orders came out, nothing was missing.
Will definately be going back again.
A. P.
I am a regular to this place, the food is absolutely delicious. I always order the Fusion and Dynamite special maki and they've never let me down.
Their starters are also incredible, they make genuine karaage (Japanese style marinaded fried chicken) and great okonomiyaki on sticks (Japanese savoury pancakes). It's the only sushi place I've been to whee they are generous with their wakame (seaweed) salad, too!
Yuhoki is mostly a takeaway place but their physical location is nice too, the service great and the food arrives really quickly.
K. P.
Just ordered from them today, a california roll, tempura roll, unagi don and chicken katsu curry. Rating 4 stars instead of 5 because the chicken katsu was over cooked so it was quite dry. Otherwise the food tasted great and will likely order from them again.
F. F.
super cute, authentic and decent prices and portion sizes. not halal
S.
Celebrated my birthday meal with my GF here. The service was quick and the sushi tasted lovely. Highly recommend this place we will be back again :D
M. C.
Ordered via uber eats for a delivery and an item was missing. I called the restuarant and this was rectified, they sent out the missing item straight away. Food was great, fish was fresh and customer service was excellent. Will definitely order from here again.
S. J.
Disappointing, my makerel sashimi was poached/slightly cooked. When I pointed this out, I was told that is how they serve it in the restaurant. I've never experienced this at any other Japanese restaurant. The takoyaki filling was like lava, a friendly warning would've maybe save my mouth/tongue from being burned. The rice on some of the salmon avocado rolls was dry.
D. D.
Went to this place after work. Staff where really friendly and the place is so nice. Most important the food is great. We had a few sharing dishes and omg so tasty. Desert it great also.
B. A.
Great and varied food large menu, this is the certainly the place to go alone or in a group, this spot sure how to serve their clients. Highly recommend this place.
S. B. (.
A teeny, tiny Japanese restaurant that's surprisingly good. One of the few lunch options around South Quay that isn't packed to the gills, presumably on account of it being tucked out of the way in an unassuming commercial unit on the ground floor of an apartment block. I seem to remember that they deliver via Amazon's food delivery service (if that's still a thing)
L.
Hands down the best Japanese place I've ever been to. Visit ever week now with my gf. Great service, amazing food (especially the gyzoa, tataki, bento, spider rolls and chef's specials like the grilled scallops). Fantastic Green Tea as well. Hidden gem for sure.
A. T.
We ordered a lot of the hot dishes for takeaway, and thought it was ok. The sushi we had was decent but pretty average. All in all a pretty average japaense restuarant but prices were reasonable.
K. Y.
Ordered deliveroo from here, and can't expect it to be that much different from eating in; I am sorry but it is not that "authentic" per se as the sashimi was really fishy and bad-smelling. The rest of the non-raw fish stuff, which is typically westernised Japanese food, was really good though - like the spicy tuna rolls etc. But that doesn't make it an authentic Japanese restaurant...felt a little cheated by that description. It's more similar to EatTokyo
J. H.
Delicious Japanese food at canary wharf, competitive price with high quality food is served by lovely staff! Must have dishes are the ebi tempura, salmon tataki, dynamite roll, fusion sushi and chicken katsu curry... highly recommended!!!
S. (.

J. R.
Small but very cosy place. Great staff and service. Had my first Ramen here and it is the best thing I had in London! Good prices, loved by locals, must try if you like japanese food
S. S.
Just ok, not exceptional as expected reading other reviews.
K.
Ordered sushi and chicken katsu a few days back. Delivery arrived in under 10min almost caught us off guard! Both tasty and reasonably priced.
f.
Very tasty, everything arrives fast and prices are excellent
M. I.
A little out of the way and puzzle to find, but definitely worth the challenge!
The sushi is fresh and well priced. Very good hot food as well.
D. L. (.
Found this place through dines, amazing food and nice atmosphere
Edit: 30/11/19 - still one of my favourite sushi places, I enjoy their takoyaki more than other sushi restaurants.
I typically order takoyaki, Unagi Donburi and hotate, I am always left satisfied
Y.
It's a small restaurant hidden away from the corporate city. Food is amazing. Highly recommend the Bento boxes. They also do take out which is so convenient
L. J.

Fabulous, authentic Japanese food and impeccable service, reasonably priced. Don't be deceived by appearances, this is much better than "posher" places twice the price.

Been here a few times and haven't found anything that I dislike about this place yet.
Quick & cheap meal, tasty food, very quick service and friendly staff.
V. P.
The food is good and the service is fast and polite, the place is not exactly big or fancy but exactly what it should be for the price. Awesome, recommended.
