We found this place by accident while visiting Manchester. The food is of excellent quality. The chilling vibe and well-decorated interior. The staff is accommodating, friendly and provides excellent service. Fish with sauce was melting in my mouth. It was perfection! Highly recommended.

Good quality food. Great service. I loved the caramel pudding, just delicious; maybe my only criticism is the frites, the frites were a little overdone. I'd say perhaps rustic steak chips would be better. Overall, a fabulous experience with excellent service. We are looking forward to coming back!

Dinner reservation for 2. Tapas starter a little bland, calamari like rubber bands. Apart from that, fillet steak was nice, but not worth the price. Staff were somewhat nonchalant, especially the one with love heart earrings. Be a while before we visit again.

Not so impressed this time! We were only the second group in the place for lunch when we arrived at 13:05. Staff seemed disinterested, almost condescending, when I checked after waiting over 20 mins for food, if it would be ready soon as our parking was expiring. A couple had arrived after us and were served before us and it still took another 15 mins after that for the food to arrive at 12:55. That left us 10 mins to eat - not great service at all! My tapas was nice overall - meatballs were gorgeous, croquettes were soft and gooey (my 2 year old ate most of them!) but the patatas bravas were somewhat bland with the sauce having no kick and the tomato toasts were just ordinary. Previously: Great venue for a cosy little party.

Blacksticks has stood the test of time. A well established and very popular resuraunt in Monton. The menu had been refreshed since my last visit and offered a good choice - I loved the open beef wellington - thank you very much. Staff are on the ball, helpful and courteous and everything is reasonably priced. Give it try. I'm sure you will enjoy it.

My wife and I went there on Saturday night to celebrate a relations birthday, The meal was booked for 8pm, and we duely seated upstairs...The food and service was quick and efficient, prices we're reasonable and we all had a great time.... ( This was a party of 13)....only one small minor concern,. towards the end of the meal, our table was full of empty glasses and side plates etc ..and we all felt as though the waiter's could have cleared our table to allow us a bit more room for the desserts and birthday cake....this minor hiccup in no way detracted from the overall experience.....and we would gladly recommend anyone to visit.....

The food was lovely. Arrived quicker than anticipated. One large downfall was the service. No cutlery when the food arrived. No water top up. Had to ask for condiments twice before they arrived. Nobody to be seen when we wanted to order another drink. We had 4 empty glasses on our table for a while. Ended up having to go up to the bar and ask. Also took a while to ask for the bill and nobody had taken out empty plates. Again had to go up to the service area to ask. When the bill finally arrived we paid and before we were about to leave we were asked to see our receipt as we were told we were charged wrong.. but turned out to be correct. Slightly embarrassing from all parties. Wouldn't bother going again sadly.

I really want to give a better rating, because the place is a lovely, the food is great and the price is good. However, service from front of house and or kitchen is so slow. For a small restaurant with plenty of staff, you can wait a while for your meals to arrive, dirty glasses aren't cleared and they fail to anticipate when you may need anything else such as more water.

We love this Restaurant, the food and service are excellent. We mainly book for the Early Bird Menu as it is second to none and we have never had a bad meal. The service has always been good, the girls are very pleasant and efficient. We have a Vegan in the family and they have always been very accommodating even with short notice. The food here is excellent but the service is shocking, I am writing this review whilst waiting, we have been waiting almost an hour for a dessert menu, the next table of 6 have received their main meals, ordered dessert and finished in the time we have been waiting! I finished my drink at the end of my starter and haven't been offered another, our waitress seems to ignore us and clean the empty tables instead. Dessert has finally arrived!! No cutlery with it though so in she's had to go and get some.. So to sum up great food.. Poor service.

Great food and great service. Not been here for a while but this was the first time with my Autistic son and I can't begin to tell you how good the staff were with him. Patient, understanding and always smiling and inter acting with him when HE wanted. There was 9 of us celebrating our anniversary and it made the whole experience so much more enjoyable. I thought the process of pre ordering our meals was going to detract from the experience as I've always enjoyed that feeling of sitting down with a glass of wine and pouring over the menu. However, prompt attention to the little details of how the meat was cooked and sides etc, meant that the timing of our food was never an issue. Not going to leave so long before returning.

Little bit surprised our first time out tonight after months of lockdown. The table we had was reserved for later. We had two pint of larger each and was slapped with a bill for £26 questioned this to be told yes drinks have gone up. Waitress slapped £5 in my hand for over payment no apology sorry blacksticks been many times since you opened many years ago and spent celebrated many special there but will be wary in future

We have visited Blacksticks on several occasions since the reopening after lockdown. The food is excellent and great value for money. We really enjoy sitting outside and having a few drinks with friends. All the staff are very friendly and they really look after you. I look forward to my next visit. Great place. Great experience.

Chilean Pilot noir was good - paid the Monton tax but OK. If you can deal with the wankery of Monton, this is one of the better places. Not too loud - unlike one of the venues opposite*. Would've loved the kitchen to still be open (2130ish) for light bites. *I actually like the people I socialise with.

Great food but music was too loud. Couldn't have an easy conversation with other family members because it sounded like we were in a nightclub. The loud music was distracting and it made eating uncomfortable. What is wrong with just hearing other people's voices in the background? Every where you go these days you have to be subjected to noise!

This is the first time we have been since the change of menu. There was a party of seven. We usually have the lamb rump which had been changed to a lamb steak. I found mine to be chewy and it has a large bone in It. it was served pink as requested. My daughter also found hers to be chewy. My husbands was much thinner than ours and wasn’t pink. The mussels weren’t as tasty as last experience . The service was excellent as usual.

Windows always seem to be steamed up, food is possibly slightly above average. Went in for a group meal, we all chose a set menu with some people choosing dessert straight away, others were told they could choose after their mains. We're never asked and had to wait around 20 minutes after everyone else had received their desserts what we would like, although it was a busy night.

Blacksticks on the high street in Monton is one of our favourite eateries. It's a smart place, great location with the village car park just across the road. The food and service are excellent - and the 'early bird' menu if you are there at the right time is exceptional value for money. The only downside is that it can get very noisy with people having to raise their voices to be heard above the hubbub of the restaurant and other diners. Wooden floors, nothing at the big picture windows = nothing to absorb the sound but the food is delicious!

I have been to this restaurant many times but was very disappointed when I went last weekend. Prawns in garlic were very bland, steak tuff, and for what we ordered I felt expensive. Lots of nice places to eat now in Monton, it will be some time before I go back.

When I asked if someone could take our order: W: I can't take your order we are currently taking a large order upstairs. Me: I'm sorry, you 'can't' take our order? W: yes, there is a large table upstairs and we are currently taking their order. OK this is not my problem, this is your problem and there are definitely better ways of dealing with it other than stating you can't take our order! Me: that's OK, just take our order and we'll wait for our starters, that's not a problem. W: I'm sorry I can't do that. Me: OK give me a pen and paper and I'll write it down for u? W: sorry ill come back when I can. At this point we think we'll just pay for our drinks and leave but whilst discussing what we've just witnessed she comes back. A member of our party (there are only 3 of us) : how long will our starters take? W: why, do you have somewhere you have to be? Wow, just wow! We asked a reasonable question in response to you telling us that you've just taken a larger order and that's your answer! Thank god the food was good!

The food is always excellent as is the service. The atmospheres is great and the early bird menu is fantastic value for money. The a'la carte menu is well priced with an extensive choice to suit every palate, if you're in Monton, you can't go wrong with a visit to Blacksticks.
