Reviews of Dukes 92 - Bar & Restaurant
E. K.
Mum's 60th Birthday 🎂.
My brother arranged this venue for my mums birthday.
I was really impressed with the location, right on the canal tucked away in the city.
The open plan bar and seating area that really set the scene with natural light.
The food was amazing and being around family was awesome.
We had a large group with us, I think about 12 adults and 9 kids.
We were not pestered to get the orders in early.
(This impressed me, as chefs normally are desperate to get large orders out as quickly as possible)
When the food went out, the kids ate first, with Starters served to adults.
The mains then followed, I have to recommend the steak. I had the chicken 🍔, was really something.
Really great venue, would be great to come back again.
Mum was very well looked after and I'm sure it won't be long before we're out again.

Simply a beautiful location to enjoy a drink or delicious bite. We always enjoy combining lunch here with a walk around Castlefield or a visit to the MOSI and Manchester library.
M. G.
Amazing roast dinner and desserts, lost a star as the hosts didn't greet us and ignored us when we said goodbye to them as we're on their phones and chatting with manager, thankfully you have a friendly security who was acting as host in place of them and actually helped seat us. Food is superb and will be back for just that
A. s.
youll fit in here if youve had work done
BUT seriously this is a very pretty restaurant/bar, great for sunny days by the canal! it does get busy and honestly i commend the staff for their patience with the influencer type customers w no social skills.
the food was good!!!! cocktails were great and the floor staff deserve the WORLD
S. H.
Food is lovely there. I would have loved it more if they have their own signature dish. Limited choices in the menu however food is delicious and the staff are absolutely welcoming, friendly and very nice. Enjoyed the experience. Outside seats are lovely too, bathrooms are clean and everything is spot on. You will definitely be happy and more than satisfied when you visit there. 😊

Great experience at this restaurant in Manchester. The interior is gorgeous, and the outside area is lovely too in the historic quays. There is outside seating, but it was unavailable at the time I visited due to bad weather. It was a relatively quiet night, but atmosphere was still inviting.
We ordered a sharing pizza board and it was incredible. Service was great too. Love finding little gems like this one in the big cities, this is one I look forward to going back to.
I. B.
great place with interesting interior… dishes were served to us very quickly… thanks for this 😉
But the staff is not very friendly (
A. P.
Nice place, really nice staff, nice food, good price!
R. M.
Damn fancy bar with a good selection of drinks and the location is fab !
It's IG worthy interiors surely make it a great place to hangout with friends.
W. S.
Had a great afternoon /evening ,had a little mix up with our menu ,but hey it was the hottest day, thankyou to all the staff that kept working through the heat ,you need a bonus lol
F. K.
Very quiet (which I really liked) and great portion provided at a nice price! Worth a visit
K. S.
Been here a couple of occasions both for leaving parties. Lovely staff. Great choice of drinks. Comfortable seating. Great outside area. A bit expensive but it is in the city centre so it’s to be expected.
D. H.
Dukes 92 is a lovely bar, spacious, comfortable, great team working there and a good atmosphere with plenty of selection of drinks to choose from. Outdoor space very busy when we went, inside a selection of tables and booths groups of various sizes can gather. Definitely worth a visit.
A. W.
I've been visiting Dukes 92 for years since it opened in about the mid 90s, named after the Canal locks at the side of it. It's always been a modern Bar and Restaurant with a good atmosphere. I would say it's the best Bar in the Caslefield area. Also very nice in the Summer with outdoor Seating next to the Locks.
J. W.
Went here for our 30th wedding anniversary, and absolutely loved it. We were given a glass of champagne, which was a really nice gesture. The staff were lovely and friendly. The food was delicious. Will be going back.
H. H.
Somewhat pricey but delicious food par the mushy peas which was a just a solid block and the bread which may have spent a little bit longer than intended under the heater light. The dessert was quite large and very sweet! Lovely atmosphere and decorations
V. L.
Huge beer garden, nice view, was quiet for Sunday lunch. Flavourful meals.
A. W.
Limited gluten free options. However , my meal was delicious
G. B.
Food was absolutely amazing, the starters are really good to shar so I recommend getting multiple to share with your group. The main meals were also fab and good portions.
A. L.
A nice spacious bar and restaurant. Loving the modern chic decor and ambiance. Background music is thankfully not too loud although my visit was on a Sunday evening when it isn't too busy. On weekends, expect a lot of people and much longer waiting times to be served. It's a chilled and casual atmosphere and most folks are dressed smartly. Food is good. Definitely a nice place to bring friends and guests to.
J. M.
We came here for lunch and we placed our orders beforehand. However when we arrived the menu had been changed so I had to have an alternative vegetarian dish which I was not happy with. I would not want to come here again because I didn't like the food but on the plus side the food and the drinks arrived quickly
C. A.
We came here for Sunday lunch with a bunch of friends and were very impressed. My partner and I opted for the whole roast chicken to share £13.95 each and although this made our table wait 55 minutes since ordering (we were told it’d be about 45 mins give or take) we loved every bit of it. The macadamia nut stuffing was absolutely amazing also.
We were served by Fay who made us all feel very welcome, she was lovely.
We can’t wait to come back, this visit has changed our impressions since previous visits where the experience left us disappointed.
A. W. (.
Came here with a couple of friends after watching the royal wedding. Luckily the weather was gorgeous that day and we were able to get a table at the patio pretty quickly because it was definitely packed. It's a great place to relax and have drink with friends.
Friend also recommended that I come by the next day for the Sunday Roast since I'd never had one before and it definitely did not disappoint.
J. T.
Lovely place for an after work drink, especially today with this amazing weather ☀️ something went wrong with the order placed via the qr code but Amber was apologetic and solved the issue very quickly! Thank you Amber!
J. C.
Nice place and lively food. Came here for a Sunday roast. Beware-most of the people were quite dressed up. There's lovely seating outside if the weather allows. There is also a canal lock just there allowing to witness barges going through.
L. G.
It's a lovely area by the canal to spend time watching life go by and enjoying the Easter sunshine. Was a bit chaotic on Easter Sunday as a very popular place with youngsters but was lovely on the Tuesday as quieter. The lunch menu is good, reasonable and tasty and the prosecco even better lol!!
T. H.
Great bar reasonable prices for drinks. Very Friendly staff this is definitely worth a visit. Live music on weekends in the afternoon (family friendly) I would definitely recommend this bar if your in the castlefield area one of the best. Also brilliant outside seating for in the summer months. Nothing to fault here.
E.
Heated garden, beautiful decor. Service is a bit slow. Food is decent but nothing special.
A. F.
The outdoor seating area is amazing. There's always a great atmosphere there, drinks arrive quickly at the table. 4 stars instead of 5 because they had some issues with the table numbers and there was a bit of a mix-up when ordering through the app. Other than that, all good.
L. K.
Good roast dinner on a very busy bank holiday Sunday. The Chilli Beef salad starter was the star of the show.
T. P.
I've been visiting Dukes 92 since the early nineties and I have seen it change and develop over the years. Dukes 92 have always had great service and have had a wide range of food and drinks, these of course can be enjoyed outside right next to canal lock 92 of which the venue was named after. If I had one criticism it would be that back in the day dukes offered a fresh bread and cheese selection and unfortunately this is no longer available, sometimes your not looking for a full meal and just want a snack and this really hit the spot.
M. P.
Lovely restaurant food was great staff friendly had a great time.
C. B.
Made a last-minute reservation, staff were really helpful and pleasant. Enjoyed the food and atmosphere.
S. 9.
Amazing, quiet, quirky restaurant/bar. We came here for lunch because of the custom sharing board. It was better than expected, but the real dark horse was the gravy fries - incredible!
P. D.
Food was good. The atmosphere was nice too. We went early evening on a Thursday and it was quiet enough to have good conversation over dinner. It still had enough going on for it not to feel dead though. My one negative experience would be that the bar staff were super slow. I waited 15mins at the bar to be served and there was only one other couple getting drinks. Other than that a great dinner. Would def visit again. Free parking for customers too.
E. B.
The outdoor seating area can't be beat when the weather is nice. Great location next to the canal. That said, it can get very busy on sunny weekend days and you may have to fight for a spot. I had the chicken and stuffing sandwich with sweet potato chips which was very tasty.
J. R.
Visited on Monday with friends, lovely outdoor dining area overlooking the canal. The service was great. Menu available for online orders no hassle. Food came quick and it was delicious. Would definitely comeback again
N. M.
Food was lovely but they assume everyone dining outside is tech savvy as they don't have proper menus dining but do inside. We asked a server if they could bring one we had to get the menu and order our food via qr code on table but it wasn't made clear that if you ordered all your food and drinks together that you would get your dessert at the same time as getting our main meals which is stupid because we waited awhile between getting our drinks also some of the staff were rude, most were lovely. Our main meal was lovely but wasn't impressed by dessert
C. H.
A very tasty meal and cocktails with good friends. Great location with pleasant surroundings ❤️🍹🍸
J. B. G.
Nice atmosphere however no vegan options and very limited food options. There was a DJ that night playing music, definitely will come again.
V. L.
The cocktails here are good. Best I've had in a while. There's a cute cat that hangs around and tries to get in.
A. W.
Thanks for great end of term experience food excellent staff polite and professional especially the young attractive lady who was always present when needed will definitely return Droylesden Academy
I. H.
Fantastic location and atmosphere, good food and average staff where a lot of them just stand around and Watch.
The ordering system is a nightmare: ordering via their website and paying by credit card for every single order. What a hassle.
E. B.
Nice and quiet on a Monday evening, loved the large outdoor seating area with tables and chairs or booths and benches to choose from.
Really quick service, tasty food and friendly staff, would definitely go back
S. A.
This is one of those places you go for a relaxing drink on a hot summers day, they have one of the best beer gardens in the city on the banks of the canal. We were there for lunch, the food is average but the setting makes up for it.
B. A.
Used to be really good, but service is quite slow now. Booked in for my girlfriends birthday at 1.30pm on a Saturday. I paid in advance for two bottles of Rose Prosecco. Only one on the table as we arrive and not enough glasses. We had to grab a member of staff to bring the second bottle and we took a clean glass off another table. We also pre-ordered a few dishes for the table, again we had to grab someone ourselves after a few drinks to say we were ready for our food. Nobody came to check on us or ask. In terms of food, it was good enough. My girlfriend said the tempura prawns were a bit too fishy (which isn't the best sign). You also don't get many of them for the price. We also had padron peppers, garlic bread and cheese and fries. All were fine. If anything the garlic bread and cheese could have been a little more well done/crispy. There was 10 of us eating/drinking in total so the table quickly filled with empty glasses and plates. We kept having to get up to get staff. One of the people I asked for help said "you can use the QR code". He was very polite about it, but my only problem is there is no option to request a table clean or certain service (like additional sauces) when you scan the QR code. Because of this you think more members of staff would walk around and check tables, especially ones as big as ours that are likely to fill up quicker, but they didn't. I will say that every time we did get a member of staff, they moved quickly and were great but we shouldn't have had to get them in the first place! The QR code isn't an excuse to sit back, cut corners and inconvenience people who are out to spend money and enjoy themselves. You still work in hospitality so do the same duties you did pre-covid or people will go elsewhere!
N.
Went there for drinks and snacks.
Love the location and vibe.
Reasonable pricing and friendly staff.
Had a great time
D. S.
Lovely drinking spot on the terrace next to the canal, beautiful on a sunny day.
Nice food and wine on the menu. The sharing board was a great spread of good tasting foods although a little small for the number suggested in the menu. A good range of well priced wines.
Very busy in good weather which can lead to extended queuing. Too much seating for the number of bars. Bit posery.
k. 1.
Set close to deansgate tram stop and a short walk from my apartment it's in a great location, a real sun trap. Great selection of drinks. Yet to try their food.
E. G.
Had a wonderful evening sat outside. It was lovely and warm with the heaters. The food was excellent and the service was amazing, we were really made very welcome by all the staff. We love the atmosphere there, in a wonderful location by the canal and viaducts a great place to visit while in Manchester. You won't be disappointed.
s. t.
Staff are excellent George was very helpful and attentive , the food was awful though mostly overcooked the music and venue were very good, there was a very strong smell of fish as the night went on asked what it was and was told I had long COVID by a young guy with a top not so everyone who was with us quite a big group must have had the same we all left very soon after that.
F. W.
Excellent food and amazing service. George was extremely helpful and very friendly. Will definitely come back.
P. P. P.
Perfect for a city centre Wedding Venue! Really impressed with the location the staff and the food. Beautiful place.
R. C.
Amazing Chick Bar & Restaurant by the Rochdale Canal in Castleford, Manchester. Great Music Atmosphere and Good Vibes. Perfect views of the canal and great food. What more could you want!
S. C.
So we had never been here before despite many a night out in the area.
I visited with my wife and two friends and the ma was excellent. We went on a Saturday night just after payday; there was a wedding upstairs and a 40th downstairs and it was hammered. We had booked otherwise we would not have got it.
We had a booth to the 4 of us and it was absolutely brilliant - not sure it would have been the same sat at a normal table.
The reason I say that is because it was LOUD. Seriously, I'm 28 and still enjoy going to clubs but honestly it was louder than a lot of clubs I've been to recently. You genuinely couldn't have a conversation unless you were all huddled up and shouting. The strange thing I'd the volume would dip for about 30 seconds every few minutes and it was much more pleasant!
The food was wonderful, especially the waffle dessert. The staff were very friendly too.
It is not a cheap night out so if you're going have an expectation that you'll easily spend £50+ per person.
Highly recommend
Y. L.
Large space and big wooden tables. Cozy and chill. You can feel the sunshine and fresh air even indoor. One can chat with friends, spend the best afternoon and enjoy life here.
J. K.
The coconut chicken noodle bowl is delicious. Fab venue with lovely outdoor space. Good service
L. T.
Very good bar, didn't eat but friends did and burgers looked very good
K.
A great place, with free parking, I would say one of best place from environmental point of view and you feel safe.

We went for a meal yesterday at Duke’s 92; this was my second visit and I have to say I was rather disappointed by the service and overall experience. The restaurant is in a beautiful setting, bright, airy and nicely decorated, however is beginning to look tired in parts with many cracked tiles and ripped seats.
We were seated promptly in a booth and given menus, orders were taken for food and drink in a reasonable timeframe. The drinks took a while to arrive and then one of our party was left without a drink for around 10 minutes. There wasn’t any serving staff around to catch their attention to ask where the drink was so we waited and eventually the drink arrived. Food then arrived shortly after, we ordered the starters (Fritto Misti sharer, chilli beef and bruschetta between 5 of us) which was shared. Mains quickly followed but again only 2 of us were served mains with approximately 5 minutes before the rest of the table’s food arrived. When the food was brought to the table, the young waiter was very abrupt and plonked the food down on the table, without asking who it was for. We asked for condiments which were never brought to the table. My partners fish and chips was bland and sisters pizza based stodgy. Desserts that were ordered were delicious. Overall, based on the service we received, we will not be returning for a while, which is a shame as the majority of the meal was okay. Although it was Father’s Day and you expect the restaurant to be busier, the service was not up to scratch for the price of the meal.
K. H.
Really nice atmosphere, and gorgeous decor inside and out. Only took one picture while there but it's lovely. All our group agreed to go back in summer to experience the outdoor kitchen next to the canal. Great day
T. B.
Place for cocktails.(£10 each type place) Trendy place and well layed out bar. You can get bar food here. Great place to go after a meal at Albert shed. Lovely space outside to see.
B. F.
Great venue, lovely food and for our function room Ben behind the bar was great
B.
Excellent location next to the canal in Manchester. Food was great, large fish, pile of chips and mushy peas. We were a party of 6 and the service was really quick, so perfect for a lunch out from work.
M. B.
Naff pint of larger, you know the type of pint that loses its head and goes flat in 3 minutes with a stale taste like a witherspoons pint , shame really coz its nice building
C. M.
Amazing roast with fabulous service in a lovely setting. The only place for a Sunday dinner.
D. T.
Check what they charge you, £ 9.40 for a pint. I went back in and the bartender offered me a free half. So £0.40 down as a pint was £6.00. I wasn't bothered just wanted to make sure I knew what he was up to.
S. P.
Their mop must need changing as the smell of musty mopped floor was very strong. Polite table staff and quick service. Bar staff seemed miserable.
B. W.
Gorgeous outdoor area overlooking the tram and train lines, very picturesque, expensive drinks but nice atmosphere and lovely bar staff
A. S.
Friendly service and nice modern atmosphere. Food and drinks were good, although most of the cocktails were overly sweet for my taste. Fondue chips (melted cheese and gravy poured over them) were the highlight.
V. B.
Had drinks and food very nice food I had the housin duck pizza ..gorgeous fresh and delicious. Great atmosphere Would recommend
D. W.
Been here two or three times, food is good and the atmosphere is lively, really good night out.
T. J.
Great service. Good selection of food..avoid the fondue fries tho..too weird!
M. M.
Service was on point. It was a quiet night...but made all the better to enjoy our time freely with friends and chilled atmosphere.
A. J. M.
Great atmosphere, staff were attentive and awesome. Meal was well presented and tasted awesome
a. m.
Food was good. Nothing amazing but not bad, really enjoyed it. Drinks werent too badly priced either. However i didnt realise till after we paid but i got over charged. One of my cocktails said £7.50 on the menu but i got charged £8.50. Service was okay a little slow as it wasnt busy but staff were still really friendly and accommodating. The outside seating is really nice and i would probably go back for drinks if its a nice evening, but probably not rushing back
B. B.
Elevator music at the bar.and be careful of sitting in seats that dont have cover, if it rains youll get wet. Otherwise it has all the mod cons like toilets, expect to see someone drying red wine off their white jeans, and classics like the clientele all looking the same
G. T.
The outdoor area is just perfect on a sunny day... very enjoyable place for a few drinks.
A. M.
Lovely place for family. Service and food were the best. Sat outside in the sun and listend to live music. We were a party of 5 adults and 2 children. Happy days.
M. A.
Food was great. Not too great getting asked to vacate table for next customer
R. B.
At an organised work night out and was looked after by the lovely Niamh all night. Great service and so friendly :)
j. a.
Meet up with friends for drinks and some food.
Really good venue, good atmosphere.
Really easy to order drinks and food on the app straight to your table.
It's a little pricey, £6 a pint, £11 double and mixer but that's just cause of where it is.
But food is adequately priced
Good place for casual meet up or starting the night out
D. W.
Really enjoyed our meal, great service and value for money.A popular venue. Recommended
L. Z.
Food was gorgeous but the music got so loud around 8pm we had to shout to hear each other. Music does not need to be so loud in the dining area. I will go back for lunch because the venue is gorgeous.
K. G.
Used Dukes private function room for staff party. The staff were great friendly, help full. Venue was clean tidy, food was great. A great nigh to out.

Visited on Monday with friends, lovely outdoor dining area overlooking the canal.
A. I.
Lovely place to be and just relax. Great prices and service. There is a heated terrace overlooking the water, cute corners where you can just enjoy good quality food and time with your loved ones. Will go again!
J. S.
Our favourite Sunday lunch in Manchester now!
The food is great and the atmosphere warm and welcoming. We'll be back for the service, all the staff were brilliant but particular thanks to Keava - we felt very well looked after
C. J.
Fantastic family lunch ahead of an afternoon of Christmas shopping. Service was astoundingly quick and food was fantastic. Lovely atmosphere in the restaurant - could not fault our visit and would 100% recommend. Will definitely return when we're next in the city. Thank you.
A. J.
Great food and service even though the app for the kitchen broke down totally. Well worth a visit.
E.
Beautiful.
Warm welcome, inviting and inclusive to everyone.
Decor is tasteful and outdoor seating is comfortable and warm with a cute view.
Food and drink is worth paying that slight bit extra for. Service is quick and friendly.
Recommend to everyone.
S. B.
Called in here to break up a car journey from London to Hexham but going via central Manchester. Chosen as they had a decent amount of gluten-free options on the menu. Luckily for us there was parking available and tables to spare. The food was decent, the surroundings lovely and the staff were great. So impressed we called in for lunch on the reverse journey too.
g. h.
Lovely food and friendly staff.
Would definitely go again.
K. Y.
Really nice food and great ambience.
Right beside the canal.
Bar service very slow though.
K. M.
It was a great venue great location. With it being a works meeting and a free bar it was brilliant 👏
M. W.
Great location and atmosphere but food and drink quality is mediocre.
S. R.
Service was really slow. No fault if the staff they were really good. Just not enough of then. The food arrived before our drinks. Getting drinks in general was a real pain. Would have given it less stars but the food was good.
D. M.
The food which was nice is let down by the service.
Dirty cuterly had to ask twice for clean, Table not set up correctly, informed about food items not being served just as about to order. Perhaps should be mentioned as given menus.
W. B.
Staff were very accommodating. We booked a table outside for 6 bit didn't realise it was only for two hours. They found us a table inside which we had for over 5 hours. Ordering drinks using QR code was much easier than other places I've been in. Food was really nice too.
D. M.
Pre Christmas party drinks, not badly priced
A. G.
I must admit it I was very happy to be in there great atmosphere
D. D. L.
1st time to this bar and what a fine , great friendly staff and reasonably priced food
S. C.
Amazing food at really good prices. Staff were attentive. Also had live music.
C. C.
Fantastic bar. Friendly staff, lovely food.
T. J.
Always a firm favourite of mine in Manchester. A lively and fun place with a great atmosphere. The place is a little up market with a nice selection of clientele, but what I like is that it still feels down to earth. The staff are all nice and have good personalities, definitely no grumpy bar staff.
The food is of a good standard but is nothing spectacular however, for parties with friends or colleagues it offers a good range of food and doesn't disappoint.
The mens toilet could definitely do with attention! Urinals, plumbing, and overall cleanliness during a Friday or Saturday night definitely needs improvement.
The outdoor terrace is great, especially in covid times, it offers a large outdoor space with dozens of tables, well spaced and creates a great atmosphere.
A good night out in Manchester!
s. h.
Great place. Not been for a long time. Food excellent.
M. B.
Been to Dukes many times over the years always a chilled atmosphere. Even took my elderly parents for lunch here many moons ago and they loved it.
Popped in this afternoon to catch up with my lovely ex boss, service quick, good place for a nice relaxed chat before it starts getting lively.
Good for all occasions one of my go to Manchester haunts, recommend it.
K. E. (. K.
Great food (the roast potatoes on the Sunday roast were a little tough. Not sure home-made?) But the rest of dinner was delicious and the picking-platters just divine. Great range of drinks on offer and the staff from front of house, security, bar, waiting, kitchen all warm, helpful, friendly and service couldn't be improved.
I particular noted the way that all customers were treated with equal friendly welcome. From the beautiful young glamourous couples/groups, the families with kids, the posh to casual, the "alternative" types (me) ;) .... it was just a lovely experience.
Beware the taps in the ladies' loos! They are like crazy water guns! And note that due to Covid restrictions, they don't accept cash payment at the moment, but otherwise.... relax and enjoy the great food and surroundings:)
S. J.
Fantastic experience at Dukes 92 yesterday, a group of us were out to celebrate a friends birthday, we had a table reserved inside but the weather looked like it was vaguely sunny so we asked to be moved outside (under the canopy with heaters) then it actually did get sunny so the canopy came back and the heaters went off (at our request again) we had table service for drinks, nibbles and then dinner, nothing was too much trouble for Adam and team, they really made our day relaxed and fun 👏🏼👏🏼 Thanks guys! 🥂
H. T.
Lovely staff, great food.
However I was unable to pay cash, or leave a tip via card machine as the staff were unsure they'd receive it.
As a fellow server it means I won't return.
S. T.
Wow!
Amazing restaurant, pricey but worth every single penny. Amazing cocktails and very attentive staff.
Only downside was that very few staff members were wearing their face covering correctly, was worrisome but they maintained social distancing from guests. Very close to each other though
J. T.
Good location and atmosphere. Nice food. Tables and menus dirty.
N. M.
Dukes is a great venue, pet friendly too. Highly recommended.
J. P.
Great place for drinks and food. Prices are reasonable. Good choice of menu and a good range of drinks. Plenty of seating indoor with an array of overhead heaters and outdoor.
G. V. F.
Good food
K. R.
Really enjoyable, great food nice ambiance and we were well looked after by waiter Stan 👍
S. D.
Lovely food and brilliant service. My grandfather wanted an ale and although they didn't have any on sale, the bartender recommended a similar style drink. The social distancing and covid guidance was very well organised and we felt very safe during our stay there. Beautiful place to eat and drink, amazing vibe. Very helpful staff. The location was lovely and we would definitely go again if we wanted to treat ourselves as it was more on the expensive side.
S. G.
Cocktails were great, food OK. Ordered lamb salad, very fatty and soggy courgettes. Booked a table but no table reserved.
K. s.
Liked the place, food was good value but the place looked a bit run down here and there wc items took off walls leaving holes, urinal missing parts the window we sat at had a glazing bead missing, menu looked like a child had used it it was full of food hand prints, staff where good and helpful would go again.
P. B.
Lovely Bar with great menu and great atmosphere. Well worth a visit if you are in Manchester
M. B.
Burgers were amazing. Service was very poor, did not get provided cutlery or napkins. Had to go up and ask. Did not get checked up on until after the meal. Inside was pretty empty but big visible queue outside - felt awkward.
I'm hoping this is just due to re-opening and getting back up to speed. I will return however expect better service next time.

One of the best places to enjoy a cold one. In the summer, atmosphere is amazing on the terrace and in the winter, the interior will make u feel very cosy. Modern design and quality finishes. Food is amazing as well. The large chicken wings are really good value and the chicken coconut noodle soup is amazing. As a desert, don leave without an amazing sticky toffee pudding. Recommend 100%
L. H.
I had an Ok experience. The outside is a little loud on a Sunday afternoon. The crowd it attracts isn't my style either. It's supposed to hip but felt very run of the mill.
The cocktail list is very short and doesn't have any good options. It's best if you're going for a straight drink.
A. B.
This place know what’s service is. 5 stars for cocktails service and location!
The only thing that wasn’t good is the guy at the entrance. He his so full of himself and definitely not representing the place. Now I will not give 4 stars because of him but I must say, this guy shouldn’t work there he is definitely not doing anything for your reputation. Please have a conversation with him or just look at your camera to see his behaviour towards costumers.
Anyway to would definitely recommend this place!
S. B.
Family booked the Merchant room for my 60th Birthday 5th 2022 had an amazing evening fantastic BBQ
Style food. Staff all great very helpful made the evening go very smoothly I would particularly like to thank
Kaitlyn Caitlin & Will H for all there attention to detail.

Enjoyed a really pleasant afternoon recently sat outside at Dukes. Loved sitting next to the River enjoying nice food and a Chilled Drink
S. S.
Lovely food..sevice bit slow but would go again
A. S.
I met friends from work here and it's a nice place, well done out and hugely popular. Disappointed that they ran out of bottles of Beck's, plus it was a little expensive. I'll have to save up to go again
T. O.
Always great service, clean, upto date interior and great outdoor space. Deli boards and deserts sadly lacking since the refurb but the food itself is always great. Good variety of drinks.
M. P.
First face-to-face BNI Beyond meeting. First time I’ve been and Dukes is a great place!!!
L. G.
Came here early evening after the sun had gone in. We sat outside with a drink under the heaters and watched the ducks on the canal. Good music, good drinks, would recommend a visit.
E. C.
Lovely place for a drink but food very disappointed
C. H.
Really nice bar. I went to a private function here. Good size room. Food was spot on. Really friendly staff although the drinks are a little pricey. Overall a great place.
C. S.
Always busy always fun, great atmosphere and good seating inside and out . Often a queue at the bar I guess a sign of success but slightly annoying when having to wait , but a good solid drinking place
P. T.
First time , great place, great food ,and excellent service
s.
Modern stylish bar shame only a handful of people in on a early March Wednesday night. Normally busy and a must when the sun is shining as amazing outside space
M.
Food was lovely - had the roast beef which was so tasty and the sauce was perfect! The mash was amazing as well. They had live musicians on which really gave the atmosphere a boost and the choice on the menu was perfect for someone as indecisive as me! I'd definitely come back for a relaxed drink in the winter....only downside was the service to an extent. The managers seemed to be constantly busy with tables and picking up pieces while waitresses were a bit relaxed and dilly dallying... Felt a bit disorganised to be in.
S.
Always a great night in here. Can be a little too crowded for my liking and unlikely to get a seat unless pre booking. Otherwise drinks are excellent as are the staff looking after you
P. B.
First time visiting this restaurant as I'm not a local. Lovely clean place. Very friendly and helpful staff. Food was served prompt and hot and tasted great. Will definitely be returning.
L. I.
We booked in to Dukes 92 for my birthday meal. The atmosphere was fantastic and the food, goats cheese salad and proper cheese burger, were amazing. Ariana was our waitress for the night and she was so attentive and friendly, a real asset to the restaurant. We will definitely be back again! Thank you dukes 92.
G. D.
Lovely place, really impressed I will be going back. 👍
F. M.
Lovely food and great service, would recommend.
G. C.
Delicious food and drink, great atmosphere lovely staff. So enjoyable in here! Highly recommend😁👏
A. B.
Arranged an area for us on a hen party. Staff were fun and friendly, food was great although quite large portions. Not ideal when drinking to party! Ha great music, easy location to get to
b.
the food was sooo good but the live music wasn’t for me, wayy too loud. i’m sure others would totally enjoy it though.
V. A.
Great lively atmosphere. The cocktails are the best around. Food always good. A perfect spot when the suns out.
A. R.
Just to clarify, this was Duke's 92, not Albert's Shed. Bear in mind that this day was so hot that Sainsbury's had to de-stock some of their refrigerated cabinets. And they'd decided that leaving the doors open was a better better bet than air conditioning - I wasn't impressed. Peroni on draft is always a plus, as far as I'm concerned but, in the heat, it just didn't seem cold enough. Ordering via phone app has its pluses and minuses, but these are the times we live in, and their app works better than some. However, the food was very good indeed, and truly outstanding value for money. Overall a good evening.
A.
Went in for a nice team Christmas lunch, just the 6 of us.
We were severed quickly and politely and food game in a very timely manner. It was also very tasty and cooked well.
One thing that was annoying was the fact that the menu on the website was last year's, I did not realise this until I tried to order something I'd seen on there (we looked to save time prior to arriving).
I have also been to this establishment a couple of times attending private Christmas parties in their upstairs suite. Again, great food and good service.
S. M.
Really nice bar , but it is expensive.
We paid £25 for 2 large gin + tonics , so although it’s nice it’s not somewhere we’d go too regularly.
L. C.
Had a great afternoon, decided not to move on as it was great where we were.
H. S.
Great service, fast and efficient, generous portions and really delicious food!
F. B.
Went on a Sunday and given a nice booth. Having two children this was very much appreciated. Its airy with modern decor and has a comfortable feel. The atmosphere, food, wine and service great. Lovely location on the canal and on a nice day kids can play outside. Definitely revisit! Recommend booking.
c. t.
This place is vast, its nicely fesigned, huge open areas and I have heard the food is great but when we opened the App to start the ordering it was taking so long that we gave in as it took so long to get 2 drinks ordered. Really a disservice so we went to Don Marco nearby, they have table service.
L. C.
Simply wow! Brought my birthday forward 1 month due to lockdown. The staff were outstanding so friendly & the food & booth we had surpassed our expectations! Thank you Dukes92 you make me proud to be in hospitality!
We will be back!!!! Stay safe all! X
H. C.
Good food and outside area with comfortable heating system.
Staff not that good, a few mistakes with the orders and door service appalling. If some customers have difficulty with the QR code don't just stand there repeating it's mandatory to do it girl, either help or propose an alternative like pen and paper
C. H.
Room was beautiful so we didn't want to spoil it by putting up lots of decorations.
The grazing menu buffet was generous and very tasty. Choice of drinks was good and everyone had a good time.
Even got a couple of doggie bags to take home.
Thanks to all the lovely staff who couldn't help enough. They helped to make it a memorable event.
C. B.
Dukes 92 was very quiet when we visited so had a lovely relaxed drink
S. H.
Had a great time at Dukes.
Great food, good selection of beers.
Sat outside on their huge patio alongside the Rochdale Canal lock watching the boats go by...
M. T.
Outside eating only currently in line with Regs. Lovely food, great choices in food & drinks, fab surroundings & attentive staff. Used the table App which worked well. Will definitely return especially as the inside of the restraunt looked equally impressive.
P. H.
This place is great when it's sunny with a terrace looking over the canal locks. It gets very busy though and is extremely popular when it's warm.inside there is a large bar area and upstairs a balcony over looking the water. Large range of drinks and food are serveres here. My tip arrive early in the afternoon when it's warm or you may struggle to get in. Well worth a visit.
M. F.
One of my favourite bars in the world 🌍 and I’ve lived in many countries.
The service here is exceptional, so too is the menu and drinks on offer.
However the location and its setting in Castlefield is far above anything else you can expect from a city bar/restaurant.
If I’m in Manchester, this is my go to place and it hasn’t let me down the many times I’ve been visiting.
V. O.
Went there last night for drinks and dinner .Brilliant atmosphere. We were served by a lovely girl called Jessica. Food was absolutely beautiful. Very well presented . We all got different dishes and it was really delicious. It is our second time visiting there and would definitely recommend it . Thank you Jessica for being so helpful to us.
R. P.
Dukes is easily one of my favourite bars in Manchester.
I went last weekend with a group of friends, and we were all left totally disappointed.
The food was terrible, I had a burger and it was flavourless and my chunky chips had a lovely colour to them, however they were mostly raw.
I can only put it down to the the fact it clearly had numerous Christmas parties going on at the same time, and it was very very busy.
The star rating should of been a 1, however the girl on the night who served us made the experience bearable. She was ridiculously attentive considering how busy it was, and in general came across as a very polite and nice person.
D. S.
Attended works barbecue here, Great place to visit for food and drink in a pleasant atmosphere.
P. B.
Very crowded. Hardly any staff on when we went. Didn't stop for food so can't comment.
K.
Delicious food. Good service. Highly recommended.
Only one downside... the menus were completely stuck together. They need to ensure they are wiped down before stalking.
P. L.
This is a fabulous place with a brilliant atmosphere and always busy. The service is good and the staff are very friendly. The staff cannot be more helpful and the front of house managers are excellent in dealing with allergen advice. The only reason I have not given Dukes five stars is that my partner has an allergy to mustard which severely limits her to what she can have from the menu. Unfortunately this spoiled her enjoyment of her dining experience.
T.
Excellent private dining room experience at Dukes 92 following a small wedding with family and friends.
Sophia (sorry if I have the name wrong) mainly looked after us with serving drinks, handling the orders which had mostly been pre-ordered and taking a few photos for us. She was very polite, helpful and patient as most of the guests were German speaking with a lot of them not speaking much English.
All the other staff were also very good and also arranged for an area in the bar to be cornered off for us and a few more friends who arrived earlier.
I had previously been to Dukes for drinks and always had a good experience. Would certainly recommend and always fantastic venue when the sun is shining in Manchester.
R. L.
Fantastic roast, fair selection of beer, and live music on a Sunday.
V. B.
Great food and ambience at this Manchester restaurant. The lunch time menu was really good value for money. The staff were friendly and attentive the food was very nicely presented and tasted really good.I will be back.
C. C.
Excellent night out with work colleagues. This was a Tuesday night so not too busy. Drinks service could have been faster at times and a smile from a couple of the more surly members of staff wouldn't have gone amiss either. However on the whole I would still recommend Dukes 92 as a good place for a night out as it's spacious and in the summer nice outdoor space.
S. A.
Stopped here for our lunch. A bit hesitant at first as we needed somewhere quick and you're not always sure if you will get that with a restaraunt. Ordered off the lunch menu and the service was really quick. Great atmosphere, great food and great drink. Really good atmosphere and staff very professional and friendly. Would definitely recommend!
S. B.
I have been here twice so far. Love sitting by the canal and havinf a good time drinking with friends. The indoor ambience indoors is quite nice too! One of the bartenders gave me a complimentary birthday shot when I visited on my birthday!
L. D.
Really great, service food excellent! 👌
A. E.
What a lovely place! Never been before but will definitely go again! Was only for drinks but the food menu looks great! Love the decor and there was an acoustic act on for a little bit. Great atmosphere and really friendly staff.
J. “. M.
My partner and I went to Dukes 92 as it was close to the hotel we were staying in. We arrived pretty late into the evening around 9.30.
We visited on a Monday night so the venue was extremely quiet which in all honesty gave us plenty of opportunity survey the environment. The decor is a mixture between modern architecture and nature with clever use of plants throughout the building.
The food was fairly priced and tasted amazing. The barman was cheery and knew how to mix a good cocktail. The gentleman who was serving us was polite and gave us time to try our food and enjoy it before checking if everything was okay.
I am a smoker and much to my relief there was a fully heated smoking area outside the front entrance. I would highly rate Duke 92 and will go there again.
R. P.
Really good atmosphere, lots of people in after work on a Friday. Was able to get to the bar however it was a pot luck for which drafts were working (there was only 1) so it felt like you had to drink what they wanted you to drink. The demand was far to high for what they could cope with as all staff were trying to pull from 3 pumps. (Because the rest were not working). The price is really high as well compared to other bars.
E. W.
Sat outside on comfy furniture under a large umberella to keep out of the sun beside the canal. Lots of seating area outside in the sun & inside. We didn't have food but others did & it looked good & reasonably priced. Staff polite & friendly and worked quickly through any Queues that formed at the bar. Very relaxing on a sunny day.
J. E.
A great midweek venue with outside heated area.
K. M.
Lovely atmosphere, good food and beautiful setting, staff were polite and very attentive.
D. M.
Went on a Friday night in October. It wasn't very busy, and the upstairs was open but completely empty, so nice for my friends and I to catch up. The cocktails were tasty, and they did one without the nut ingredient because of an intolerance, and did warn that it wouldn't taste like normal.
J. L. (.
Pan fried sea bass. Tasty. Service was a bit slow, but the good and drinks were good.
M. L.
The food was excellent but an app service in a "quality" restaurant for ordering food and drink. If you don't like a particular thing in a dish it's a ball ache to try and remove it online . Maybe I expected too much and apps are the way to go.
R. G.
Went on a Sunny bank holiday Monday shortly after limited re- opening allowed , pre booking recommended , outside area was pretty much full by 12-30 pm.
Very pleasant surroundings , service was via a QR code , so no queues !!
S. R.
We drove all the way from Chesterfield to this place. 1hr30 drive. From the second we walked in, the atmosphere was absolutely electrifying. Great music, food and drinks were outstanding. Prices were amazing for a city. We will definitely be coming back!
l.
Very nice location, have been going there for a good number of years and seen lots of changes , maybe I'm Getting old but it's for the younger generation now and the prices are a little higher than I like but it's the heart of Manchester. Would recommend nice food
A. S.
We would like to thank Dukes and all the staff who made our wedding day special ❤
A special thank you to callum our wedding coordinator for his patience, help and support throughout the run up to our big day . Very professional!
Lee and amelia Hartley

A really nice bar/restaurant as you would expect in this side of town. Delicious food, the pork belly was to die for. However, drinks are veeery pricey here!
Edit: They have great boards to have yourself/or larger ones to share with choices of meats, a very wide range of cheeses, and salads. Perfect with a few drinks with friends!
B. S.
Service a bit fragmented, one drink at a time? Wrong cheese on their famous starter! Once pointed out the service improved considerably.
L. W.
First visit in 2 years. Lovely place, nicely decorated for Christmas. Pizzas are great especially for sharing.
S. M.
I love this place. Unfortunately I went here on the 2nd June 2021 it was very busy I didn't feel there was enough staff we waited ages for food and drinks having to remind staff every time we ordered. I felt sorry for the staff who did there best.
B. W.
Went here for a meal and wasn't disappointed.
The food was great, the service was fantastic and friendly. There's free parking for people eating here.
The price for six of us to have a main meal and a couple of drinks was very reasonable. I will be going back again soon.
P. M.
Nice place drink food out door heating
M. M.
1st experience here. Location wise is amazing. Food was very tasty and both my partner and myself felt that this was the best pork meat we tried in Manchester up so far. Good value for money. Will go back for sure again.
R. F.
First visit and it won't be my last. Went for an impromptu Christmas Dinner with some colleagues. There was a happy atmosphere with all the Christmas cheer and then the food.. Oh my word the food. Amazing flavours and well cooked. Of standout note was the coleslaw. Usually its an afterthought and you try a little bit and say meh then leave it. The stuff that dukes served was quite frankly divine. Divine coleslaw. Its the future.
N. C.
Didn't stay long because we had an appointment but it was nicely decorated and well worth the visit.
R. S.
Food was good and arrived quickly but waitstaff seemed to be trying their best to avoid serving people.
T. B.
I can not recommend private dining / function room here enough. We've come for a private meal after my grandma's funeral. From the moment we contacted, Helen has been so delightful and thoughtful and sincere. The venue is so elegant and on trend and the whole experience has been lovely. Maybe my 40th venue for a few years time. Thank you.
D. S.
Good venue it was very busy and the staff were working hard to keep up
L. R.
Nice place but my pregnant missus was drinking non alcoholic wine and it was £17.50. That's scandalous considering there's no alcohol duty to pay
B. O.
Service wasn't great, food was OK tho. The website wouldn't process my order but I got charged by Google pay. My friend had to order the food in the end so paid twice. Got it back via Google but the faff involved was annoying. Was told it happens all the time! Think I'm getting too old for Dukes 😞
L. M. A.
Lovely. Great view of the canal and lock keeper's cottage and of The Beatham Tower etc. Comfortable juxtaposition of our city's industrial heritage and it's latest developments. Was wonderful on a bright sunny day.
As one would expect from a city centre bar, the drinks & food are rather expensive.
A. H.
Had dinner tonight at Dukes 92 for the first time. Eat out government’s incentive reduced the bill. Menu choice was reduced due to the Covid situation. However there was no reduction in the quality of food. Both my wife and I had a very tasty meal. Will definitely try again.
j. k.
Lively atmosphere and good food, for a Saturday night out with friends. Probably not the place to go for a quiet romantic meal for two.
D.
Popular wine bar/ food venue. Right next to the lock gates of a canal. Nice to sit outside on those very rare days when its warm enough to do so! Failing that option they do have lots of indoor seating.
Meals slightly overpriced. But nice clientele.
M. M.
Lovely food, great cocktails
L. W.
whow fab 🤩🤩🤩loved it👍great atmosphere great company!! thanku 4 ur hospitality...will be back later xxx
S. N.
Really nice venue and outside beer garden. Make sure to book ahead!
S. P.
Really nice coffee. Slightly limited food choice. The acoustics mean that the one or two kids in there on the occasions that I've been make their presence heard. I buy coffee every time I visit Glossop from here, far far better than costa. I will definitely eat here again too
D. B.
Super day for our daughter the wedding planner got it absolutely spot on . 10 out of 10 for the service provided . Bar staff were always on hand but never in the way
A. G.
Lively place! Great decor and ambience.
M. F.
Great food/drinks, and excellent service, it was busy and could not believe how quickly our food and drinks came, we’ll be back soon!
H. P.
Good food although £££, don't go if you're in a rush and especially don't expect to get served quickly at the bar. I never seen a bar with so many staff and such an inefficient service! It does have a nice beer garden but its often full of posers in the summer.
E. d. S.
If you are having a party I no doubt recommend hiring the top floor upstairs. There is a balcony in which you can escape to if its too warm inside, it has a lovely over head view of the twinkling lights over the bar downstairs. The drink prices are fair and you definitely get your money's worth on the cocktails.. The inside has atmospheric lighting giving a calm sense to the evening... Definitely made for an amazing night!
S. C.
A lovely little restaurant/bar nestled away in the heart of central Manchester. The combination of modern and classic design can be seen from the use of beautiful wooden beams in some parts and the use of steel girders. Both of which are also a subtle nod to the areas industrial textile factory past. The brass bar top is beautiful and the garden trellis shelving behind the bar adds a unique and earthy touch. The prices are average price for a city centre with pints of lager £4.60 and a small glass of wine can be as little as £4.50. The food choice is varied and meals can be £7 for a sandwich. This ideal for an office lunch or a birthday meal with friends but perhaps not for a family meal.
M. J.
Came for my 20th birthday meal.
Heated and covered outdoor seating was enjoyable. The environment can’t be beaten.
There was a mix up with the food but it was sorted out fast and no other issues.
K. J.
Can't believe I am just discovering Dukes!?! I'm so coming back soon.
J. M.
Took my mum here for mothers day with my sister's. Had a lovely meal. Real top class. Hundred and sixty quid all in for six of us. Really made up with my lamb steak and polenta chips, if you go, go polenta. Mum loved it. The waiter was spot on, very attentive. 10% service charge automatically added for tables if 6 or more but I still tipped on top because it was spot on. All the staff were great. Thanks for a lovely afternoon guys.
H. C.
Came here in July with other people who have Ushers Syndrome. Staff were really friendly and helped me find the disabled toilet. Then a member of staff allowed me to order by the doors to the outside area instead of making me queue at the very busy and noisy bar. This is a really lovely bar & restaurant in Manchester. Not too far away from the local train & tram stations.
T.
Visited Dukes 92 several times for dinner in the week and drinks at the weekend. The food is always is delicious although not with many veggie options. The atmosphere at the weekends is also great for drinks and a little dance if one so chooses.
However, we went for dinner on a saturday night and were sat in the bar area. It was so busy and the music was so loud that it did feel like we were eating in the middle of a nightclub with people dancing and moving around us. (The food was again fantastic though).
I do think Dukes 92 needs to decide whether it wants to be a restaurant or a bar/club because you can't really do both.
M. M.
Waiter was lovely and attentive. But as a monthly regular I have to say today the food was so disappointing and has been gradually changing, especially as the prices are quite high. Presentation was good. Cutlery was dirty. Fatty meat with too much sauce on my ciabatta and the chunky chips tasted old and pre heated which were both left. My friends lamb was minimal with a small spòonful of mashed potato, for nearly £18.00 we were both shocked at what she recieved. However the childs pizza looked lovely and eaten all up. So a generous 3 stars for the waiter and pizza.
J. C.
Lovely venue. Lively atmosphere in the sun. Initially was disappointed that I was told they didn't have the dish I ordered on the menu only after everyone else received their food. This was followed by a long wait for the replacement dish I ordered and finally after waiting for 45 mins they came back with my original order in a larger size and offered a refund. I felt this was a great way to deal with the matter and resolve any issues.
J. S.
Great place to have a drink on a sunny day. Big open area alongside the canal. Food looks great but i haven't tried it. Inside has gone a bit upmarket or maybe ive gone downmarket. Good choice of drinks. Well worth a visit especially on a sunny day.
L. B.
Really nice. Service a little slow but can't fault the food or drinks, just took a while for a drink order to be taken. Very friendly team though and I wasn't rushed to leave when they were preparing to close.
J. L.
Nice waterside venue with big outdoor patio that gets the sun throughout the day when it's nice/ Tucked away next to the canal it makes for a nice break from the urban feel of the city being tucked away on the slight outskirts. Vibe is chilled and relaxed and close to another couple of bars on the canal so nice as something different on a sunny day.
P. M.
Great vibrant atmosphere within the bar.Well worth the visit.
Y. W.
This place is beautiful! Had a delicious meal. Will definitely go back!
M. T.
We visited Duke 92 for our work Christmas meal. The food was delicious. The ambience was great and decor is perfect. The Christmas decorations the restaurant had were tasteful and actually gave me some inspiration for next year. I can thoroughly recommend the haddock rarebit. It was lush. Also f you like a nice ale, they stock Cwtch, a tasty Welsh red Ale. Big 👍 Great service from Raul too ! The 4/5 is because the music from the live performers was too loud for us to hold a conversation properly. The performance was great, just not ideal if you like to chat while enjoying your meal.
M. B.
I went for a business meeting and then decided to eat. I had a chicken and chorizo grilled salad with avocado and a pint of draught Peroni. I haven't been for a couple of years and it's been renovated really well it's a smashing place to eat or just meet for a drink. The staff are amazing I meant to write the guy's name down who served us because he was great, friendly, considerate, attentive and professional. The food was excellent and presented perfectly. I will be going again and strangely already looking forward to it 😁. Easy to get to, plenty of parking and lovely ambiance. 10/10.
J. W.
Been once in the summer when they have the BBQ on and managed to get a table - was very nice, however bit pricey and the service was not amazing. Also been on a Sunday for Sunday roast which was very tasty! and not bad for £10 - however having to go to the bar to order I thought was a bit odd.
C. C.
Josh was an excellent waiter! Excellent experience
S. A. (. P.
Excellent drinks, the meal was top notch. Exempting the fact the desert was cold. Not even Luke warm. Just cold.
G. A.
Arrived to attend a 40 years university reunion . Most of us are in our late 50's early 60's and thoroughly enjoyed the bar. Initially the music playing was at a decent level then at 5.00pm it suddenly became too loud, trying to lip read was an experience :) or could we becoming our Parents !!!!
Would recommend the bar anytime but can we have the volume turned down a tad?
A. H.
I came to Duke 92 last night (Saturday) with my girlfriend. And as I was stood in the que waiting to come in, a group of 4 lads were behind me. They started being quite rude and intimidate my girlfriend saying stuff they shouldn’t be staying. Soon the bouncer with black shirt and a beard silk hair noticed their behaviour, he came over and asked them to leave the que. I am very thankful for what he did because I felt embarrassed being mocked by 4 lads when im with my girlfriend. I just wanted to say thank you to the venue and to that bouncer for making us feel safe.
f. c.
Highly recommended. Perfect afternoon with my family. Delicious meal, drinks. The staff were excellent. Thanks
p. s.
Been going here for years, can't beat it. Was in on Saturday to celebrate anniversary as was the place where I meet my partner on our first date. Food was great, service on point and atmosphere relaxed too.
R. H.
Every time I go here it's an enjoyable experience, always classy never get any riff-raff in spoiling things and the optional comfortable outdoor seating makes it a fantastic place to chill for a few casual drinks any time of year. Looking forward to being able to spend a little more time here this summer.
L. W.
A Manchester staple, it's always a good place for dinner, drinks or al fresco evenings 🌤
Choose somewhere else if you're looking for a fancy evening for date night 💜
G. W.
Absolutely outstanding food. Really polite, attentive staff. Really well presented restaurant. Well worth a visit.
M. R.
Like it nice nice location good food
C. O.
Love the atmosphere, really popular spot to have drinks in Manchester. Cocktails are good, ranging from £8-£10. We ordered food and the service was super fast. However, I had the chicken and chorizo hash, wasn't really anything special, and the guacamole it came with was tastless. Friends had pizzas which were nice.
J. v.
The unique problem is only accept pay whit card ,no cash.

Set back from Deansgate on Castle Street in the Castlefield area you will find Dukes 92. This is a popular place for a night out and it's set next to the Bridgewater canal so it's got bags of character. There's a buzz about Dukes, a great ambience. Obviously there's always the guys protecting on the doors but you need that in most places these days and they are respectful. There's loads of room inside and out and there are heat lamps outside if you're getting cold. They have it all covered for drinks, food and cater for parties there too. A menu is downloadable from their website. Generally bars come and go but Dukes remains very popular all the time. It's a gem of a place.
Just been back here for the first time since my last review 2 years ago.... tried the food which is very good quality and some of the best I've tasted in Manchester. Beautiful place and set in some of the best scenery around... hard to believe you're in Manchester.
M. D.
The food was fantastic and I would definitely eat there again. Bar service was poor. We also weren't happy to see the restaurant staff having shots while working. The food, however, was spot on.
M.
Fantastic location....especially on a hot sunny day, large outside seating area next to the canal. Lovely buzz nice burgers and good drinks. Looking forward to going back.

Nice afternoon spent sketching outdoors at Dukes 92 drinking coffees and Teas to keep warm. Very pleasant staff.
B. M.
Terrible staff. Nobody is bothering to clear or clean the outside tables. Bar staff are lazing about and disinterested, serving our drinks slowly whilst putting their dirty Fingers on the rim of the glass to serve them to us. The sign that reads NO sports tops and NO baseball caps has toppled over and nobody is pickinking it off the floor. Incidentally the outside are was full of football supporters in baseball caps, chanting and swearing on Sunday before the match. Today I stopped the waitress to order more drinks and was told that she needed to send somebody from the bar, who never turned up. I doubt I will have a third visit to this place unless they can sort out the staff. There are plenty of them around so no real excuse for the poor quality service and cleaning standards.

Beautiful place, awesome food and great atmosphere. Loved it! We had pizza, the sea bass and some amazing cheesy chips. Reasonable prices for a very good quality meal.
B. S.
Lovely venue & staff were accommodating
R. R.
Friendly staff, amazing food and a brilliant location. Couldn't ask for anything more.
s. j.
Food was really good poor selection of beers
V. C.
Lovely outside setting, especially great in summer. Food is nice too
R. 4. T.
Near the canal full of atmosphere good food and service, great to sit outside if the weather is kind
P. P.
Dukes 92 is easily the best bar in the local area, the service is great and the food never disappoints. If you go on a sunny day, be sure to arrive early as you will never manage to get a seat and will be disappointed but they do provide food outside (BBQ).
R. G.
Was here for a wedding & the place was fabulous. Staff were very attentive. Food was amazing. Very large portions.
D. H.
Really nice place to go for a drink. Beer garden is lovely when the weather is good, even though it's really busy.
Food is good - especially the pizzas and cheaper than you might expect.
C. E.
Excellent service, brilliant food and a Smile on everyone’s face. Really enjoyed coming here and thoroughly recommend

Lovely place and the beer garden is a must on warmer days.

Not my scene really... On a night out on a Saturday night, bar was really busy and full of trendy people. Music was bass-y early on then went more old school later on. Drinks normal price for Manchester - £4-£5 beers, bottle of prosecco £26. Seating outside with heaters which is great now it's hot in the summer.
D. M.
A very busy place but still managed to find a table. Had a lovely, tasty sandwich and a bottle of prosecco.
C. N.
Only had drinks but they were good
D. “. J.
Love the place. Food is nice and service is quick. Theres one member of staff who thinks hes a majority shareholder. Hes a bell end. But other than that I cant fault the place
S. D.
Wonderful time at Dukes and a super board meal. We were attended by Jacob, a very pleasant young man who did everything to make us feel at ease. Will definitely be visiting again!
i. c.
Great place for drinks and meet ups. Has free parking. Has gluten free food and gluten free pizza. The food isn't great but the place is fine. Huge beer garden in the summers with live music. Great ambiance.
N. W.
Nice food but £4.50 for a pint of coke . Wow!!!!
K. K.
Contemporary, casual, elegant. Great casual dining menu. Huge heated terrace right on the canal. Easy-going staff are attentive without being fussy.
G. C.
Brilliant in the summer with a massive outdoor drinking area and I hope they bring back the tpee this winter
E. D.
When the sun comes out this place fills up with sun and drink seekers. Great atmosphere with lovely views of the Manchester canals.
If you are with a group of friends the big square pizzas are a great shout, delicious with a great variety of flavors.
A. T.
This is a trendy bar just off Deansgate. It is a beautiful space and has a good selection of beer and drinks. It is on the expensive side and can be very loud and busy both during the day and in the evening. A very popular bar off the beaten track.
H. B.
Extremely slow service, we thought they had forgotten us at one point. Starter and main took over an hour and a half.
Nice decor and location. Food is a mix of excellent and ok. Sunday roast wasn't great.
e. o.
Food was good ...huge portions ...cheap and nice location and good views ...would reccomend for a nice relaxed chilled evening with friends
M. W.
Lovely venue with friendly bar staff, food was delicious. Definitely coming back
L.
very good and abundant. excellent service and very kind staff
M. A.
Nice corner bar with multiple sitting options. Definitely Recommend
A. H.
Great for outdoor summer drinking but don't expect a seat during those times as it's really busy! Great atmosphere as a result though and the food is always good.
T. F.
Dukes 92 is possibly my least favourite place to go for a drink in Manchester after work. It's always suggested when the suns come out and everyone else in Manchester has had exactly the same idea.
The fact this place is often rammed full of blokes wearing overly tight Armani t-shirts and sporting ridiculous electric tans speaks volumes. The prices are extortionate for what is a pretty average selection of beers and it will take you about half an hour to get served at the best of times.
All of the above is a shame, as the location and the food here are pretty excellent. Try the pizza's and the fried chicken The biggest problem at Dukes is it's over-popularity. Get here on a quiet day and you'll probably think it's a very good bar.
A. M.
Really enjoy visiting Dukes, great selection of drinks including speciality gins. Food is well presented, tastes good and reasonably priced. Great for afternoon visits, especially the rear section by the canal. Can get very busy at weekends but always worth a visit never the less. There is parking available and the closest Metrolink stop is Deansgate.
B. M.
As with all popular outdoor drinking places in Manchester people flock to it as soon as the sun is out and unfortunately it is full of pretentious people posing in their designer shades by the canal. The prices here are also a bit off a put off. On the plus side they do decent pizza and have an outdoor BBQ going a lot of the time which is worth the queue.
K. B.
Nice setting and large outdoor seating area. Nice place to meet for a drink. Great view too
G. W.
The food and drinks in this place are good though the drinks are expensive. Nice to sit outside in summer and they have heaters outside for when it gets colder. It's a bit fancy, people seem to dress up and it gets very busy.
B. R.
Good food. Good venue. Staff at the door initially looked surprised I'd booked a table for 4. Wonder why this may have been?
G. H.
Booked a table for dinner on a Friday night.
Brilliant food and great service. Waiter was helpful and friendly.
Priced accordingly for location and service.
Would definitely return.
E. B.
Best outdoor space in manchester on the canal. If the sun is out there really is nowhere better in my opinion.
Later on the vibe becomes slightly more club than bar and there is often a DJ playing outdoors.
It serves food too but Alberts Shed, the adjoining restaurant is much better for a proper sit down meal.
J.
Despite going on a Friday afternoon, there were only two items available on the menu. The majority of the service was done via the app, which needs improving.
J. W.
Really nice venue but order and drinks were really slow
F. S.
Very nice place, however some staff didn't know what they were doing. We had to complain a couple of times and send drinks back. Other members of staff 100% professionals. Looks like we were unlucky.
J. B.
Thanks to all who made it such a fantastic experience for all at the wedding party
Food was first rate and the room looked fantastic, once again many thanks
B. S.
The interior is quite nice, but the terrace is really messy and the staff didn't seem all that self-conscious about it. Great as a bar but rather poor as a restaurant, though the food itself was alright.
T. L.
Quite a limited menu but super friendly and accommodating staff made this a lovely visit with the whole family.
J. C.
Great, great food. This is a must try, waiter really friendy and efficient. Medium prices for what is great food and wine. Felt really looked after and will return fir special occasions.
R. H.
Had the most fabulous food and service yesterday!!! Thank you for looking after us for my birthday x A particular thanks to our waitress Choni......above and beyond the call of duty! X a fantastic experience!
D. S.
Excellent! We waited a short time for coffees and because they took more time than they would have liked they were on the house! Perfect for sunny days, couples dates and nights out.
A. W.
Very smart bar.. (not my first visit). We dined at Alberts then had drinks in Dukes. There was an unruly element drinking outside which the "bouncers" dealt with very tactfully. This will not jeopardise future visits.
J. P.
If sun's shining and the idea of heading down to Dukes has popped into you're head, then there are probably hundreds who've had the thought already. It's very much a hub for the young, smartly dressed Manchester population, with prices to match. If you do manage to get a seat out in the busy beer garden it's a can be a great place to have a few drinks in amongst the lively crowds. To be fair to the place, it's in a quaint part of town which gets the best of the good weather, with the canal flowing pleasantly alongside.
J. C.
Very neat place. Reasonable prices for this caliber of restaurant. Staff were friendly and the food was nice.
I had fish and chips here.
L. R.
Had a great family meal here at weekend. Food and service were brilliant and their set up made you feel very safe (re COVID)
R. K.
Service was amazing.. food and drinks great. Outdoor area is very well heated overall great atmosphere
J. R.
Nice location but the service and food are just ok. Our food plates sat on our table for over an hour after we had eaten, until I moved them.
N. M.
Lovely relaxed & nice atmosphere however waitress came to take our plates away never even looked our way when we said thanks. Just lifted & left. #customer service ☹
D.
Love venue and friendly staff and service. Sat outside in the sun. Ideally kitted out for dining outside as well as in.
A. M.
Lovely place to eat, drink and relax in the sun. The staff were charming inparticular the door security.😊
C. T.
Excellent food and service dogs allowed outside under cover and there are heaters if weather chilly
A. H.
Haven't been for a few years and despite a refurb it hasn't lost its atmosphere and most importantly the excellently laid out canalside courtyard. Drinks a little pricey compared to some of the surrounding bars
S. W.
Great hospitality but far too much drugs being passed round. It took the bar manager to motivate the security to do their job and remove the blatent drug dealers
R.
Food pretty good but service a bit slow. Drinks didn't come as quickly as I expected. I think more staff?! Parking ok at weekend, generally quite enjoyable.
G. D.
Great food, good choice on menu. Staff worked really hard. Definitely will come back.
j. l.
very friendly bar , good food , good atmosphere, roast beef so tender it melted , the service was a tad slow which spoil't the experience hence 4 stars, i would still go back again
M. N.
Used by my colleagues to arrange Xmas events and so on. Very nice atmosphere and staff are always happy to serve with a smile. Met the a script editor for coronation Street here too.
T. C.
A great sun trap in the summer and it really has that preimum feel about it. One of the Gems of the castlefield basin. Great people watching spot in the summer. Grab a beer sit in the rear garden and watch the day turn to night as the garden fills with the Cheshire elite and the cities new money.
A. N.
My experience for Dukes has always been when the sun has been out.
Its got a large outside area to sit and have a drink.
Its in the heart of Deansgate and seems to have most of its customers from the nearby digital marketing sector which is located in the area.
I havent tried the food yet but they have a grill on some days and that looks great
G. S.
Honestly, had the best time here. Food was amazing and staff very friendly.
C. W.
Really good beer garden but gets hammered when there's a bit of sun and you can't book tables for outside, que is sometimes 3 hours
S. S.
Had a drink or two whilst visiting friends. Enjoyable atmosphere and plenty of space to sit. Didn't eat or stay long enough to use toilets. So can comment on anymore.
D. G.
Hit & miss experiences whenever I go to Dukes but this time for a group booking of 15 with sharing platters & nibbles they couldn't have done more for us & the food was ace
D. S.
Good cocktails 🍸 would recommend this place chill out music and nice atmosphere
G. B.
Cool place to have a nice drink
j. a.
Food was excellent and apparently cocktails were too. Would recommend!
H. E.
Great place ...brilliant for food and drinks and in a good spot as well especially when it's sunny 😊
J. M.
Service could be quicker but great outside space.
L. M.
Brilliant place had some of my Hen do there loved it
P. H.
Good for drinks and a meet up with friends . its the first time in a while and I've been in and its been renovated . I'm not sure it's added any additional style the staff are not too good. Service is lacking
G. B.
Dukes92 is most probably one of the worst places in Manchester you can go too f for a drink or food I'm only telling you this. So I can have the whole place to myself because when You arrive you will see for yourself the staff are amazing they try to make sure you enjoy your visit I've been going there for 20 years and it gets better every time So please stay away so I can sit where I want when I want one of the best places to be in the middle of Manchester and that's from a scouser
r. u.
Ate here on a Saturday evening and while busy it wasn't crowded. Nice atmosphere and the food was good at a reasonable price. Would eat here again.
R. A.
Very organised love the ordering/paying from table all very efficient. Food and drinks great, lovely atmosphere.
G. R.
Decor nice, food and service was only so so. Had a pork Sunday dinner which only just filled over half the plate and the service was really slow. Peroni was £5/pint which is steep even for city centre
M. P.
Clean, up beat place. Food (duck pate, fish & chips and pork tomahawk), priced well, good portions and decent quality. Friendly, attentive staff, part of its success. Highly recommend
A. H.
Lovely venue for the wedding we went to. Food was lovely, staff helpful and friendly.
I.
Fantastic meal, and a great place decor wise.
A very enjoyable time
T. D.
Great atmosphere, top music and friendly service. Good food too. People in there tend to more 25+ than the younger ones.
S. H.
Soggy pizza and waited 25 mins for a bottle of prosecco. It was busy to be fair but I think 25 mins is excessive
A. w.
Love this place. Great atmosphere, drinks menu is awesome, plus they'll make you something that isn't on the menu, the food is great too.
S. P.
Always busy in the summer (due to the large outdoor seating area and BBQ's) This place has a great atmosphere all year round and is always on my pub crawl list if I am over this side of town. I wish I owned this place!!
J. 5.
As an atmospheric bar for nice weather this is ideal but for food for 2 it's average. Service was quite slow, we reserved a table and it's not obvious where you go to be seated.
