The best atmosphere! I love it in here and the food is incredibly reasonably priced. Highly recommend to any vegetarians in the area who want some bang for their buck. The smoothies are also delicious and even though I’m pretty sure I’m lactose intolerant I sometimes can’t resist their chocolate mud shake. It is also always a lovely night when it doubles as a venue… recently attended the electro night Fluff which again had the loveliest friendliest and safest atmosphere, as well as showcasing some really great performers.

The tea was one of the worst cups of tea I've ever had, but the breakfast was delicious, the staff very friendly and its a cool little place. Reasonable priced booze too if you fancy a bit! Very busy, so always a good sign. Work on the tea though.

Great portions, very cheap - veggie menu with everything seemingly home made. Would recommend the quesidilla and pakoras on the small plates section - but these defo are not small plates - they are basically like main meals! Personally wouldnt recommend the breakfast as it was a little bland compared to all the other interesting options on the menu and specials. I always leave here full and satisfied. Great drinks selection if you are after beers and spirits - again good prices. There is usually something happening here, gigs, music which can be quite loud when the upstairs door is open but this is fitting to the vibe, welcoming with nice music in the background and relaxed staff - this place is never empty!

I love this place. I'm not a vegetarian. However, everything I have tried from this place is amazing. Would definitely recommend. It also does a variety of different things. One of them being live music. Sometimes it is heavy metal though... my favourite meal is the quesadilla with home made chips and a shake (not decided on my favourite yet). Their staff are friendly and food is affordable too.

lovely stuff. very fairly priced, and excellent vibes. yet to have food here but i have heard nothing but praise! everyone is so friendly and the cake is absolutely amazing. £4 a cider is so good for manny mate! do wish there was a cider on draft but i may have just not looked close enough (damn u specsavers u gave me the wrong prescription!!!). so good mate and big fan of gender neutral single toilets ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Had dinner here which was lovely. We were all happy with our food, there was 1 vegetarian and 2 of us (vegans). I had a falafel burger which came with chips, an elderflower drink, a lemon and blueberry cake and a chocolate hazelnut ‘milkshake’. I enjoyed everything! Lovely place and in a great location. £5 minimum for card. Great food, reasonably clear vegan options (only two titled vegan, other suspected vegan items but unlabeled) and nice service. Would go back. I ordered the vegan breakfast and they kindly swapped out my mushrooms for a hash brown.

We really wanted to try this place as we’re vegetarian. We took our 3 year old with us for lunch. It’s not aimed at young children or families, but it worked out great. He had an adult portion of soup and the staff brought a small spoon for him upon request and he just ate what he could. He loved the soup! We all enjoyed our food and the service was fast and friendly. They even changed a drink for me without any issues. It was busy but the service was really quick. It’s definitely on the more rustic/student side decor wise, but it’s worth visiting for the yummy food!

good prices however, tables are never clean, have never seen a table being sprayed. staff were rude when we moved tables. in addition to this, there's a Constant flow of customers checking if there's room when the place is quite clearly full. in terms of covid this means people walking around your food whilst you are trying to enjoy a meal.

Nice atmosphere and quite a big menu for vegetarians and vegans. A good place to go for late breakfasts too. I have listed it as 4 stars instead of 5 just because the wait can be long if you are going at peak time and some of the tables aren't very stable.

A South Manchester institution. A real gem of a veggie cafe/bar/venue. The food is excellent; comforting, filling and cheap. Most of the options are carbs on carbs but I'm not complaining - that's what makes it delicious! It has a brilliant atmosphere and a wonderfully mixed clientele. To the people complaining about the decor, go to a chain cafe - the bohemian ramshackle nature of Fuel is part of its brilliance. Its just so versatile! A great place for breakfast after a heavy night, for lunch with friends, for a quiet afternoon reading a book in the corner and for a night out - as the upstairs is a venue that regularly hosts gigs and nights.

I don't really like vegan food usually but these guys make the most scrumptious meals in the whole of South Manchester. The music and decorations are impeccable and prices extremely reasonable. I frequently frequent Fuel and couldn't recommend a place higher.

The food here is really good, not too expensive and with good portion sizes. I had fish and chips, the fish had batter made with ginger ale and the chips were hand cut and chunky, i was surprised and impressed. I will pop in again one day. Its very "Bohemian" inside and seems to full of hippies, students and men with trendy beards, but this all adds to the charm.

I often come here to eat when I can't be bothered to cook. Excellent food and fantastic value. Never had a bad meal. I'm not even veggie but it's so good it doesn't actually bother me that there's no meat on my plate. I don't feel I'm missing out. Nice selection of veggie food. As for the drinks; try the pooh bear. I loved it so much I started making them at home. Warm milk over a layer of honey with sprinkling of cinnamon. Very warming.

Fuel has an amazing choice of vegetarian food. It was so refreshing to go somewhere and have the pick of the whole menu. Their choices for vegans are really good too. I have been a very regular customer at fuel for many years- friendly staff and good atmosphere but lately feels something is lacking? Foods great and good value. Music can be loud so you struggle to have a conversation sometimes! Feel it might need vamping up a bit and tad more cleaning on the stairs/toilets , i'll keep going and enjoy the very good veggie/vegan food. 😊

Lovely little place with great food. It's £5 minimum by card but food and a drink should be just over this, and you can always grab a bag of crisps to take you over. I had scrambled egg and spinach on a roll with a brew, very nice, roll was soft and fresh. There's water on hand as well if you don't fancy a brew or beer. Will have to come back at night to try some of the beer actually it looks like it's cosy at night.

Been coming here on and off for over 10 years since my student days. In the best possible way it hasn't really changed much - lovely simple but fresh veggie food, nice tea and coffee and a selection of interesting beers. Occasional gigs upstairs and a homely relaxed vibe in the cafe/bar downstairs. Their halloumi 'fish' and chips is a staple dish and worth a detour for.

One of my favourite places in the whole of Greater Manchester. Their food is good, healthy, wholesome and vegetarian or vegan without being too showy about it. The decor is quirky and warm and the music is usually unobtrusive. Can be a bit crowded at lunch times.

This used to be excellent, but has been going downhill. Good value, large portions, basic veggie food with half vegan options but vegan food is not marked on menu anymore so you have to ask. Has a low hygiene rating and I've had a couple of dodgy meals here with unwashed food. I'd like to give it 4 stars but was left wondering if my meal was vegan.

My first and I'm sorry to say my only visit was over a year ago - I have just found the 'Buy 5 get the 6th Free' card in my wallet. After putting the website into Google and seeing this place pop up has brought back the great meal my sister and I had there on our business trip. Staff are so helpful and the main dish I had (Veg - Fish & Chips) was one of the best Veg meals I have ever had. Will have to pop back ASAP.

Looked around South Manchester for Vegan eateries and found FUEL. Have been popping in regularly for either the Vegan falafel burger or falafel wrap for the wife. Phone through first as it's for takeaway and always pick-up a slice of vegan cake (or two) to top it off. LOVE the place, the atmosphere and staff make feel like you're in a special place where it's hard NOT to get comfy. Food we have had has always been freshly made and is "top notch". Highly recommended - try it you won't be disappointed.

Top tip, get dressed in the dark and you'll fit right in! Great beer selection and service good on the whole, other than one moody bar lady who is miserable as sin. I was disappointed with this place, but I'd come back because I had really high hopes for it and maybe I just went on an off day. I had the falafel burger which was a bit dry, and my friend had the chilli burrito. I asked whether it was spicy (he doesn't like spicy food) and was told it wasn't, but it arrived and was too spicy for him to eat. I love spicy food and agreed that it was spicy (really nice though!!!). Our friend who had been on a different day said that she had the burrito and it wasn't spicy at all, so maybe it varies from chef to chef or day to day, but either way he shouldn't have told us it wasn't when it was, because my friend missed out and paid for a meal he couldn't eat. We also ordered onion rings which were delicious. The vibe was pretty cool although the staff weren't overly friendly. I'd come back to give it another try but I wasn't impressed this time round.

Quirky and well-run cafe bar on the main Street in central Withington. Set on two levels, there is an upper floor that seems to cater for musicians. That said they served a strong tasty cappucino and the 'custard blueberry' cake (which tasted of bananas & was full of walnuts though devoid of blueberries) was moist & yummy.
