This is my favourite place to eat in Manchester. Its cheap and more importantly absolutely delicious. Great eating experience, staff are always friendly and very relaxed vibes. Can't recommend highly enough.

The first challenge is to find the restaurant!!!, it's quite unique entering a take- away & then going straight up a spiral staircase to locate the restaurant on a 1st floor.
The owner could not be more friendly, helpful and clearly unable to trade without the very capable hands of his wife chef!
Just go and experience! Choose a few different items off the menu to share & enjoy a local beer of the region.
Just Brilliant!!

We were looking to try a different cuisine in Manchester and this restaurant popped up in google due to its highly rated reviews. An authentic Ethiopian restaurant. The place is simple and run by a brother and his sister (chef) serving authentic Ethiopian food. Limited menu yet so diverse with veg, chicken, beef and lamb. They have the local Ethiopian beer too. The best part is the hospitality by the owner himself coupled with delicious food which is truly reasonable. Do visit and try the food, sure to love it!

Our first time in an Ethiopian restaurant! The staff was very friendly. A tasty and novel experience.
M. S.
The food here is incredible. A great mixture of non-spicy and spicy food. The Shiro is a must have for everyone! Super friendly staff, great service, decent portion sizes (you'll be leaving full) and great prices. The Ethiopian beer is beautiful too - wish more places had it! Thank you guys for a great experience and keep it up!
S. H.
The food was great and there is an incredibly friendly staff who are happy to introduce you to the Ethiopian ways of eating. The local beer was very tasty - a really nice place that is definitely worth a visit!
T. H.
Authentic Ethiopian cuisine which was superb. A quaint restaurant just above another takeaway shop; it had a family feel and we weren’t wrong - the decor was rustic and it smelt of the beautiful food that was being cooked. Compliments to the chef, and our server. You are both doing an amazing job, and we’ll definitely be regularly visiting when we come to Manchester again. Thank you for showing us how to dine Ethiopian style!
A. M.
This is our first time trying Ethiopian food and we were blown away by the food here at Habesha. The gentleman waiter was very polite and accommodating. He helped us to navigate the dining experience with ease.
The dishes were so flavoursome and the Inerja bread is nothing like ive ever had before. It is served chilled and soft and fluffy and so deliciously sour it compliments the warm and spicy hot dishes perfectly.
This has been my favourite dining experience while visiting Manchester.
I loved it so much x and the price was phenomenal, It was also the first time I've been too full to finish lol x
I. C.
One of the best restaurants in Manchester - run by the loveliest people, serving extremely delicious food. It's super reasonably priced, nice atmosphere and has super generous portions. My go to place to bring people who are visiting!
A. A.
Small cosy place with interesting decor. Warm service. The food was good and the quantity adequate. If you want authentic Ethiopian food head for this secret but great joint. If busy the wait can be long. But found the food worth it.
d. b.
Very nice restaurant, customer service is amazing. I enjoyed every bit of my time at the restaurant
B. B.
Authentic Ethiopian food at reasonable prices. They’ll serve it up hot and spicy if you prefer it that way! Server is always very courteous.
N. R.
If you want something a little different certainly try this. I've been visiting for years and the quality has always been great and the staff fantastic! Just remember it's up the stairs on the first floor though.
J. S.
Amazing, authentic and affordable. It's a perfect oasis of Ethiopian food tucked above the madness of the gay district on the first level of the building. Highly recommend this for anyone wanting a quieter dinner that'll fill you and not break the bank
S. M.
i enjoyed my visit today , however wont be in a rush to come back , the bread was very strange be nice to have the option of rice side or something els as a side dish( The main part of the dishes were delicious and homely i have to say ) , all about experience and it really was which is why im still giving it 5 stars as that is what life's about trying new things. coupled with the service , the man who served us was brilliant could not do enough , fantastic experience just overall not our bag and we have travelled alot so might be just that style i dont know ? also for central manchester its very reasonably priced and also filling too so another reason i have still awarded 5 stars , good luck to the business fantastic to see something different and not been charged a mortgage because of the fact its different .
K.
Great authentic home style cooking. Such lovely staff too. It does6look much from outside, but go upstairs.
T. C.
Very good service. We won’t know how to eat the food properly without the guidance of the friendly staff. The chicken and beef are well flavored and the vegetables are really nice but the bread is too sour for us. The price is reasonable too.
R. J.
Absolutely delicious food. It was busy (seems to be so at the weekends) but you can have a chat and just eat and drink. Amazing prices for the quality of food and the staff are incredibly friendly. I would highly recommend a visit here.
It's a little confusing to find if you've never been, but the spiral staircase in the takeaway downstairs leads you up onto the second floor with the restaurant. Open even if takeaway isn't, due to separate doors which is very handy.
Would recommend to anyone. They have both veggie and meat options and the veggie options seem safe for vegan (do check before ordering!)
We will surely be back and bringing friends to enjoy!
H. K.
Gets three stars instead of two because the staff were lovely. Otherwise the food is over hyped. The place is dingy.the curries are very bland. We ordered the lamb and beef dishes. The lamb one was alright. Make sure you visit the toilet before you visit as the toilets are from a horror movie.
I don't understand the concept of injera(the dough or bread) which they serve with the meal. The fermented taste just didn't agree with me
Won't visit again as the food just wasn't to my liking. And this is coming from a huge curry lover
K. M.
Habesha is really amazing. The furniture is not as in smart dining but this is the whole point,..get immersed in authentic Ethiopian culture. Roast your own coffee beans before or after an injera meal. And the prices are very reasonable. Highly recommend.
N. S.
Loved trying Ethiopian food for 2st time. Very friendly & great value
D. S.
The staff here are incredibly polite and friendly. The food is next level, eating habesha food regularly this is some of the best we’ve had. The beer as well is a must, the decor is authentic and again the staff make it that little bit extra. Will definitely be returning!
A. T.
Something different for us, having never eaten Ethiopian food before. It was delicious, spicy and really tasty. The staff were friendly and helpful, advising us how much to order and how to eat it. Remarkably good value too.
D. W.
One of my favourite places in Manchester to eat, top quality cooking from the small menu with at least two vegetarian options. Service is a bit more leisurely, but also there are only one or two staff serving an often bustling place, and it's never been a problem. The staff are really helpful, charming and have lovely accents. Just a bit worried that it will get too many trendy people coming in soon spoiling the atmosphere and driving the prices up... the mains have recently gone up by 14%. Suggestion for the restaurant: keep the prices low but serve a little less injera with the meals - there is always so much we have to either leave some or can barely breathe afterwards, it's such a shame to waste it.
Interior is homely and relaxed and appears quite Ethiopian in style (I wouldn't know), with art and traditional looking decor. Only possible gripe is what someone else mentioned; that the injeras are not made from teff flour, which apparently is more authentic, but also healthier and gluten-free. They are made from a sour dough made with 70% rice flour and 30% wheat instead, still taste very nice! NB. Before and after pics show the only time we managed to not leave any injera behind :D
L. G.
Mouth-watering food, really friend staff & wonderful service. I loved the sour bread and the vegetarian options, would definitely recommend the lentils. Can’t wait to come back!
t. x.
Best Ethiopian/Eritrean restaurant in Manchester. The food is just to die for. And we really like the staff! Friendly and very well mannered. Thank you very much
L. A.
Best ever place food and atmosphere and service. Great for vegans and the food is consistently good every time. We are regulars here now and highly recommend!
J. M.
Excellent food and very good prices. Really had a fantastic meal, very tasty and authentic. The staff were very friendly too. Will certainly be coming back for a second helping.
T. L.
Amazing food and service, I had an enjoyable Friday night. Reasonable price : )
T. P.
Visited 3 nights back with my son and thought long and hard about whether this should be a 4 or 5. Service is fantastic, the people are so friendly. If you haven't eaten Ethiopian cuisine or there before then they're more than happy to give menu advice and practical advice on how to eat the dishes. Super polite, as my (15yr old) son said, the man couldn't stop saying thank you!
The menu isn't massive and limited drinks but it's a family set up and so different from many routine, even independent routine restaurants. No desserts, although both of us were so full we didn't ask and great value. Easy to miss but there is a sign.
If it's you're thing it's an easy 5/5 (me) and great value to boot. If eating with your fingers and spicy food isn't your thing then probably you shouldn't have chosen the place in the first instance so don't blame the restaurant which is why I've leant towards a 5 over a 4. My son felt a 4 because its different but doesn't quite have the wow factor which is fair, but he's a harsh critic so I've overruled as it's my account! We both had a good time and utterly full.
M. W.
Eaten here a few times, limited menu but absolutely delicious food and very nice Ethiopian beer too at super cheap prices, would highly recommend
C. M.
There’s no doubting the authenticity of a restaurant filled with Eritreans and Ethiopians.
The menu is satisfyingly sparse and very home cooked in style. This is a place that you dog in with your hands with a disdainful glance at forks and knives.
My only preference would be for an option to have a smorgasbord of Wot and Tibs when eating solo.
R.
I really enjoy this place every time I visit! Delicious food. Great and friendly staff.
P. M.
Meal for four with soft drinks for HOW MUCH? Or more like how little!! Very good value, first time to this restaurant but we will be back when next in Manchester. Not a huge menu range but very good food and lovely waiter who was happy to explain anything we wanted to now about. Five stars at least, I suspect something of a hidden gem that serves authentic dishes.
J. D.
An amazing gem in the gay village Manchester. Been going for years. The food is amazing and great value for money. Great service one of my favourite places to eat in Manchester. I love it.
K. P.
Absolutely love it. Food is amazing and in a really good price. 3 mains and a bottle of wine £36. Place is busy and there is only one host so you might be waiting a bit but the atmosphere is relaxed. Tables, glasses absolutely spotless.
G. L.
Delicious food and such a great service, the waiter was the most welcoming and lovely person ever. Also, incredibly good value for money.
y. Q.
really an interesting experience to try this new food! exotic flavour was unforgettable:) the owners/waiters were all very nice and friendly! thumbs up
C. B.
Meal was lovely, injera was more sour then I am used to. Otherwise very nice.

Best ethiopian restaurant in Manchester
Good food, small menu with excellente ethiopian food and price, beer st george cheap price,
Please just try this food in HABESHA RESTAURANT, because some simple culinary is the best
nice place
Good HACCP and toilets is very clean
enjoy
R. B.
Very welcoming and it's a first place where I have had to have how to eat the food explained, but it was necessary...no cutlery with our choices! Really enjoyed it as I like trying new things. Only thing that may disappoint people is limited menu and it's upstairs from the takeaway. Definitely recommend it
c. m.
What a hidden gem. Delicious food (and plentiful), and perfect service. Absolutely ace for the money!
S. W.
Some of the tastiest food I have ever eaten. The service was incredible too and it was not expensive at all!! I will be going back again and again, honestly just go and you'll see what I mean.
Ps have a coffee at the end and ask about the beans.
J.
Bought a vegan meal from the vegetarian section, it was gorgeous. They certainly don't hold back on injera 👌 have plenty left over. Overall everything went smooth. Will definitely come back again and recommend this place :)
V. S.
I had a vegan meal, it was nice, good portions. But it restaurant entrance is dirty, they should do something about it. It was a funny smell. I didn't feel comfortable. But it was really cheap tho
M. L.
Good cheap Ethiopian food. Mostly on the spicy side for British taste. Food that uses a lot of dry spices, and is very tasty. Prices are quite cheap. Very good service. Homely food and ambience.
I. R.
Food is tasty but location doesn’t look sanitary
W. H.
Amazing food, could have stayed for hours and just ate! Also nice beer…
S. H.
These guys are a different breed of human as my friend would say a different gravy they are soo nice if you screamed n there face they would offer you a double big mack from macky d's
R. R.
Consistently excellent, well priced food and incredibly good service
K. A.
As an Ethiopian, I can say the food is good. As a bachelor that always eats out, I can say the service is good and the owners very nice and helpful! I will come back!!!
K. M.
I love this place. I have eaten here regularly over the years and the food is consistently amazing. The gentleman who does the front of house is always lovely, the food is so tasty and excellent value for money. I have brought many people here and all of them really enjoy it. It is very welcoming and friendly- I highly recommend it.
G. M.
Such amazing food, cooked with love
H. B.
Visited with a friend, having never tried Ethiopian cuisine before. The interior of the restaurant doesn't give the best first impression but the food was amazing! The waiter was attentive and really friendly, he explained how to eat the the food in the correct manner - using the sour pancake to scoop up the curry-like dishes. Great value for money too!
S.
First time trying food from this culture. It was an interesting experience and very enjoyable. The server was very friendly and was kind enough to show me the proper way to eat the food. My lamb dish was very good, and reasonably priced. All in all, I would definitely recommend.
R. P.
Amazing meal, brilliant service, great value. Would recommend to anyone.
A. W.
This place was a little tricky to find as we had never been before and didn't realise it was on the first floor of a building and the entrance is in a takeaway, but it's really worth finding! The food is so delicious, a complete revelation as we'd never tried Ethiopian food before. The service was also perfect, we felt very comfortable and he gave some good advice about the food and how to eat it. We'll be recommending this to everyone we know!
J. P.
A friendly welcoming restaurant. The very helpful waiter suggested a set of dishes for the table and explained the Ethiopian custom of using bread to pick up the various elements of the food without using cutlery. We had a range of meat and vegetarian dishes with varying levels of spice/heat, and a large pile of Ethiopian which is unleavened and has a tang to sourdough. They sell Ethiopian beer which was a good accompaniment. Tasty food at a great price. Highly recommended.
B. B.
Fantastic food that’s reasonably priced. Staff is always polite and they get our order started as soon as we walk in. Absolutely love this place.
M. P.
Got a takeaway. Very good service, one phone call and all ready to pick up the next day at the agreed time. Payment on collection. Very interesting millet bread, delicious spicy mains.
B. H.
Great takeaway at Uni Place, really enjoyed it. Thx
A.
Ok food, a bit saggy and tastless
🍟 chips were delicious though
F. F.
First time trying Ethiopian food and I can just say it’s brilliant and the service is really good, super friendly and explained everything to use. 100% recommend!!
N. Z.
Literally perfect. It was delicious, it was cheap. It was exotic. The staff were so welcoming it felt like your own mum was cooking for you. They gave us more injera ( a type of bread) for free when we ran out. The place is decorated beautifully with traditional Ethiopian baskets and wares, and the place feels so homely. The food was amazing, and I have been craving to to back ever since. I can't put into words how strongly I recommend any foodie to come to this place, especially one that enjoys foreign cuisine.amazing!
T.
It's an option to have some Ethiopian food in Manchesteer. I thought it was OK but definitely good service, good quality and perfect portion sizes.
M. S.
Don’t be put off by the weird entrance off the kebab shop or the dodgy looking spiral staircase up to the restaurant! It’s definitely a little rough around the edges on the surface. But the service was extremely friendly and the food is sensational. Will definitely go again and look forward to taking friends. This is definitely a hidden gem! The food gets 5 stars, value for money is another 5 stars, just knocked it down to 4 because there was only one person waiting tables so we waited a while to be served and the setting of the restaurant leaves a lot to be desired! Food was 100% worth it!!
A. A.
Absolutely fabulous! Fantastic food with healthy, large portions. The waiter had the most infectious smile and was more than happy to ensure specific allergens weren't in the food. It's a little tricky to spot the first time you go as it's above a takeaway. Will certainly be going back.
M. K.
Terrific, great value, friendly home cooking - as long as you can handle the hygiene rating and the twisty stairs!
M. G.
1 year in Manchester, on a budget, not much space for restaurant cuisine... came here 4 times!!! Absolutely delicious, affordable night out with friends as the dishes are excellent for sharing.
I also really appreciate the brevity of the menu. food on the left, drinks and desert on the right. There you go, all you need, you're sorted, enjoy!
The last time I went was on my own... I just had been walking past, feeling hungry and realising this might be my last chance to eat here - couldn't miss that!
E. M.
I went here a fee weeks ago, service was fantastic. My first time eating Ethiopian cuisine and it didn't dissapoint. Intimate setting, lovely atmosphere. Will certainly return. The waiter was extremely nice and friendly, adorable.
J. K.
My all time favourite in Manchester. Very kind staff, super-tasty meals and very good prices!
T. P.
An excellent food experience! Go and try it out. Just don't forget to order some side vegetables as well.
J. G.
The food is next level. It's was my first time eating Ethiopian food and I was in awe of it. The waiter was really friendly and explained the dishes to us. The whole atmosphere is really chill, too People just hanging out with their mates made it feel like a proper neighborhood atmosphere.
If you're anywhere near Manchester, make sure you go.
M. Q.
Absolutely delicious food, very cheap. The lovely staff member/owner explained us all the dishes and how they are made. Nice Ethiopian beer. Definitely worth a try.
D. R.
Just had takeaway (16 Jan 2021) from Habesha and it was just as good as eating in (except the Ethiopian/Eritrean beers!) The spicy beef and fine cottage cheese of the special kitfo, the tender lamb of the yebeg wot and homely carrot and cabbage are amazing. And of course the sour flatbread injera is like nothing else.
Worth a local journey for this takeaway!
J. S.
Exceptionally friendly service and delicious Ethiopian food. Dishes were flying out of the kitchen. I barely had to wait at all, and there was so much food per portion! Don't be put off by the entrance via the kebab shop.
K. K. P.
Absolutely delicious food and very cost-effective. The service and atmosphere was excellent. Highly recommended for a no-fuss, delicious meal!
B. S.
Best food I've ever had
K. D.
First time I went here I felt in love. Probably you gonna be surprised because the way is hidden upstairs in a kebab or you gonna enjoyed the smell of toasted coffee. The food is really good but of course, a little bit spicy, so better go for lunch.
S. H.
Great Ethiopian food. There are about 8 options on the menu. 2 of them are vegan (labelled vegetarian but I checked). Really friendly smiley waiter too.
Weird location up a spiral staircase in a takeaway but really good.
Oh - and it cost £8 for a large main dish and a beer! Great value!
I'd advise getting 2 dishes between 2 people to share and they serve it sharing style/family style.
K. L. A.
Fantastic food, staff and experience. Very humbling. Try it you won't be disappointed 😋😋
T. M.
I come here often and I am always delighted. The food is authentic and delicious. The service is warm and friendly.
It always makes me so happy to take people there for the first time!
Q. V. P.
Food was amazing and the waiter was so nice to us even during the busy period and being by himself. Definitely coming back.
P. E.
A bit of an undiscovered gem, first floor restaurant that you need directions to find. Its next to a takeaway accessible via a spiral staircase that's almost an optical illusion. Facilities are basic and the choice of drinks is limited but try the Ethiopian "St George" beer, honey coloured with a matching sweetness.
The menu is simple, chicken, lamb, beef and vegetarian curry options, mild, medium or hot, all served with Ethiopian injera bread and eaten traditionally with the fingers.
The food is delicious, we had a range of curries and vegetables, all plates cleaned. It's very good value at £70 for 6 people including a beer each it's definitely worth a visit
T. M.
If I could give 10*, I would. This family run place, quite simply, serves excellent Ethiopian food at a very reasonable price. Go. Try the Ethiopian red wine, too.
N. K.
Amazing food and brilliant service. The staff were lovely and the food was delicious - such great value. Will definitely be visiting again!
A. S.
Great Ethiopian food. The decor is a bit basic and canteen-like but the food is interesting and tasty and the staff are super friendly so the surroundings dont really matter. The curries come on a pancake which you then eat at the end to get the last of the delicious curry sauce. Nothing wasted! Great price too
A. D. S.
This little nondescript restaurant hidden above a more ostensible kebab shop in the Gay Village is one of Manchester's more rewarding treats. It's very much a word of mouth place, one that I was told by a colleague at work and have since told my friends and so on and so forth. It was also my first introduction to Ethiopian food and to this day remains my go to for a very filling meal on the cheap. Honestly you can have a full meal with a beer for under a tenner. Service might be slow as there's only one server but he's the happiest human being I have ever encountered, or at least in the 4 years I've known him. His mum and sister do the cooking and you can tell that this is very much a mom and pop operation from the limited menu. But that's no discredit. In fact, by keeping the options simple, it means less time equivocating over what to choose and all the items are always made well like you'd expect at home. Only word of warning - careful on the injera (the spongy bread that comes with the food) as it'll expand in your stomach a lot quicker than you'll expect!
C. M.
Something a little bit different. I was hesitant at first but so glad I went. Food was authentic quality, service was friendly but not intrusive, and we got a first class spot to watch the champions league - what’s not to love!
D. F.
Delicious food. Pleasant service.
E. B.
This is absolutely my favourite restaurant in Manchester. Really friendly service, laid back atmosphere and great food.
R. C.
Don't let the outside put you off. While this is above an unspectacular kebab house, the decor is unpretentiously comfortable. The staff are friendly and eager to guide you though the experience. Best option is to pick several very reasonably priced dishes from the limited but well done range, then share around on the central flatbread. You'll be given plenty more flatbread to pick up your food. Most dishes are spicy but never to the extent that the rich flavours are overwhelmed. Ethiopian lager is pretty good, too. A great experience that was well worth the short walk out of the centre.
M.
Fantastic Ethiopian restaurant. Very different and worth a visit. Always service with a smile!
L. T. A.
Lovely meal, nice and spicy, friendly waiter. Especially liked the lamb and veggie dishes. It was a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere and we'd happily go again.
N. A.
One of the best places to eat in Manchester. It's rare to find a restaurant that has such good food, yet is so unpretentious. Small menu, but enough for vegetarians. Drinks were unbelievably cheap, and the coffee was amazing!
P. R.
Superb authentic Ethiopian food. Family run.... will the no frills and feels like what you'd get in the place of origin. Very good and friendly service. Will visit again...and again. Very affordable too
W. W.
Cheap and tasty Ethiopian. Friendly service with a nice atmosphere. Tastes just like any other Ethiopian restaurant I've been to. Very cheap considering it was £35 to stuff two people including 2 beers each
A. A. H.
If you've had injera before, you'll love Habesha. Delicious vegetarian options (if not a bit limited) that hugely filling and good value for money. Staff also lovely. 2 thumbs up 👍👍
k. b.
Beautiful hidden little place, when you go it's very authentic and you get a lovely cultural experience, the prices are amazing and the food is so so so nice! Can't rate high enough, my fave place to go for Ethiopian food in Manchester, :)
Perfect for families or date night:)
K. W.
The lamb is really, good. Ask for a side veg. I got a dark lentil stew that must have cooked for hours. Almost better than the main and they charged me £1.50!
W. W.
Great food and great service. You can tell the food was made with love and everything was served with a smile. The Ethiopian lager was very nice also.
M. M.
Slow service, however it was worth the wait! We got an odd textured, though very tasty pancake to share. And a selection of spicy pickles to have with it. Couldn't believe how cheap this meal was!
B. K.
We had a great time taking out mum on New Years eve for an early evening meal. Goup of five, excellent service and deliciouse locally sourced food served hot. Thank you for living up to and.exceeding our expectations. Happy New Year 2019🤩🍾🍾🤩
M. M.
This is a lovely little family restaurant, we had the vegetarian platter and it was delicious. The food is packed with flavor and moreish, and eating communally from the same plate is lovely.
L. S. (.
An interesting place... it's been featured on the Guardian before for one of the best/cheapest restaurants in Manchester.
The place doesn't strike you as clean when you walk in & it's all eaten with your fingers which didn't bother me.
We asked for recommendations and had the traditional dish, can't remember the name but it came with a thin spongy part that you use to eat the saucy stewy part.
They sell Ethiopian beer too which was nice on a hot day.
F. H.
Located on the 2nd floor, this venue is simple, serves good food and has excellent service paired with decent prices.
I was a tad dissapointed about the toilets which could've used some serious cleaning (no locks on the door)
G. N.
Interesting restaurant. A must if you want to try something different, real Ethiopian food, no cutlery at all, so don´t even try it if you are not a open minded person. The menu is very limited with a 10 (ish) dishes and no desserts. For me that´s the biggest downside, no dessert... I wish there were an Ethiopian cake or something.
L. M.
The most delicious meal I think I’ve ever had. Great vegetarian platter meal - the pancakes are delicious. such lovely service and very cheap. Just perfect.
D. L.
Delicious food, affordable price, and friendly service. I'm gonna substantiate my review with the obnoxious adjective "authentic" b/c this food was legit.
P. S.
Couldn't recommend it more! Whether or not you've tried Ethiopian food before - this place will not disappoint you.
The quality of food and service for amazingly low prices is unparalleled.
Can't wait to visit again, and again!
M. B.
YOU NEED TO VISIT THIS RESTAURANT!!!! The food is amazing, the service is great and the prices are so good for the quality of food you get!!! Visited last night, will definitely be returning.
C. A.
Ehiopian and Eritrean food. The main idea is delicious curry that you eat with savoury pancakes. If you like Indian food but want a change from the same old, you'll love it here. Less than a tenner for a delicious curry and a beer. Great service and no pretence.
I highly recommend it!
P. D.
Very good food. Finally tried famous sourdough flat bread and it tasted amazing.
L. A.
Great food the waiter Neville was brilliant he explained everything in detail before we had the meal, smiled and despite being the only waiter Neville took time to speak to us . I would go back next time I return to Manchester. Alot of food for the money worth it.
A. L.
This place is absolutely incredible! The staff are so friendly and welcoming and the food is amazing! Such a surprise to have such a high quality, delicious meal for so cheap. Definitely recommended!
H. G.
I take my friends here to make me look cultured. It;s well hidden above a kebab shop and is an absolute haven. Amazing, unique food, great Ethiopian beer and fabulous eccentric service!
J. L.
Very good food at a very reasonable price served in nice clean surrounding
C. M.
Great authentic Ethiopian food, beer and coffee. Lovely service. Usually plays footy matches on the tv.

Food is excellent! The people are also very polite. Must visit. Just the waiting times are sometimes a bit longer. Nevertheless, please visit for the great food!

I almost do not want to give this place the five-star review it so thoroughly deserves, as it will mean more people frequent it and I may not always be able to get a table. However that is incredibly selfish of me, and not at all in the spirit of Habesha, which specialises in food that is meant to be shared. By all means go alone to visit, but it is even better going as a pair or large group so that you are able to sample as many of the dishes on offer. Yageb wot (lamb stew) is particularly impressive, especially when eaten with yetsom beyeynetu (mix of vegetable dishes).
One aspect of this restaurant that may surprise you is that all the food is eaten by hand with injera bread. You should and must embrace this, as this is one of the best parts of the food. The bread is unlike anything I had tasted before - it is almost a slightly sour pancake, but with a very different texture - and eating by hand gives the food an intimacy and satisfaction that is unparalleled.
Head to Sackville Street, order yourself a St. George Ethiopian beer, and enjoy.

Perhaps I didn't order correctly, but my meal was quite limited. I was eating alone and to expand the culinary experience I'd have had to order more than I could eat, reasonably.
