Reviews of Mamucium
K. F.
The 'special steak' for £25 was a rip off - barely 6 ounces when they promised 8, and cooked medium well when we asked for medium rare. The staff were more concerned with a large table, and neglected us and other dinners. For the prices, you'd expect 5 star service and food.

I went to try the pie sharing platter that is available this March. For £50 you can feed four with and incredible sharing platter with 4 pies, Manchester Caviar (mushy peas), onions rings, carrots and fries. Oh and served with unlimited gravy. The line up was:
1. Pot roast chicken, bacon and peas
2. 14 hour braised local beef and ale
3. Sweet potato, pearl barley and kale
4. Classic Lancashire cheese and onion
My favourite was the beef and ale as the ammount of meat in their was unreal. The beef was rich and made for a decent pie. Each pie was absolutely amazing in its own way, I unfortunately didn't get a picture of the sweet potato pie but I can tell you that it was the most flavoursome in my opinion. To be honest it was hard choosing as each pie was fantastic.
Once finished we chose our favourite pie to stay on the menu.
I need to head back here and check out the regular menu

I was intrigue from my daily commute to see a lot of people dining for breakfast, lunch, tea and dinner. And has read highly recommended reviews from food critics. True enough, me and my family were not let down with our first experience celebrating a special occasion. Pleasing and wonderful staff added a special treat! We will definitely be coming back for
more!

Five stars with room for improvement but they're only tiny niggles.
The food was top notch, naturally, and the atmosphere created by the guitarist playing and singing along in the background makes things very relaxed. Which is perpetuated by the pace of eating. Service is prompt but never feels rushed.
J. L. P.
Very nice starter and dessert, the Sunday roast was a little underwhelming. 3 course meal for £20 however is good value, and for £10 more you can have unlimited wine.
Nice venue and friendly staff.

Went with the wife for a delicious pie, best we've had in a long time, staff very polite and food arrived in good time, would go again.

Mamucium gives you those pies, pies and pies
Mamucium, the restaurant on the bottom floor of Hotel Indigo is an airy, curved hotel in the centre of Manchester with a rustic theme and really, comfy seats.
For Pie week turning into pie month, Mamucium are offering a special pie menu for March where you can get a pie, side and unlimited gravy £12.50 and if you want an additional side, it comes to £15. There’s another option of a sharers board for £50, which we were provided with.
For the pies, we got a double whammy of;
\Sweet Potato, Pearl Barley & Kale (v) - The kale was strong on this one but such a good mixture of items to be in a pie. It had really nice flavours and was really filling
\Classic Lancashire Cheese & Onion (v) - It sure was a classic and a gooey, creamy and oozing one with goodness.
For the sides we had;
\Honey Roasted Chantenay Carrots - Small, fat crunchy pieces of flavourful carrots. One of those sides that you just munch on and thoroughly enjoy doing so.
\Manchester Caviar (Mushy Peas) - This reminded us of the lovely mushy peas we had at Harvey Nicks. The same description goes for these and was mushy, greeny and tasted fresh
\Creamy Mash Potatoes - Another classic that was done well. Creamy and a perfect side dish
\Hand-Cut Fries - Classic fries, soft and crunchy
\Joseph Holts Beer Battered Onion Rings - This contains beer and can be substituted for another item
The gravy wasn’t vegetarian so they made us an alternative Romesco sauce, It’s bold, zippy and full of roasted tomato and pepper flavour.
Recommended for: Pies, Romesco sauce, Comfy seats
One Thing: Side plates
Price: ££
Halal: Vegetarian

Belated birthday lunch @mamuciummcr with my old friend and high school French tutor now actor and writer of all things #PeterlooMassacre
.
What an absolutely gorgeous lunch catch up today.
.
I remember the site when it was a post office way back in the 80s with my first job in #thecornexchange .
Today, all I can say is you are keeping the Manchester style alive. The staff are amazing, professional and attentive without rushing us. The food was delicious. I feel spoilt. I don't get back into Manchester enough any more, but to come in today was absolutely worth it. Class without pretention.

Only visited the cafe side for a coffee but, slow service aside (poor lass was rushed off her feet), the drink was spot on and worth the wait. Cakes etc looked good and are reasonably-priced too.
Interior really well done, especially the feature atrium, and the restaurant looks good (and currently has a really great deal on with 3 courses and wine for £20pp), toilets clean etc
L. T.
Had breakfast, the staff were so attentive and friendly. Food choice was fantastic and everything was delicious. Also spotlessly clean and could see into the kitchen and the chef cooking x
W. G.
Food was generally ok, but there were issues with time management - took quite a while to take our food order; one side dish came out a lot later than the rest of the food; and took an age to offer more drinks or ask if we wanted to pay once the plates were taken away.
The biggest issue is the price of the drinks - £7.50 for a pint of Camden Pale Ale is pretty outrageous.
It's a real shame, because Mamucium used to be really nice before the pandemic. Issues would be relatively simple to fix.
G. A.
Highly recommended for a delicious meal with a wide range of drinks. Warm and cosy atmosphere. Friendly staff and prompt service. Very well run and very clean. I highly recommend you book early 👍🏻😁
S. S. B.
Loved the menu, great service too but it was very quiet.
H. F.
Only stopped for cocktails on a Friday afternoon - good selection and the waiter was welcoming. Will visit again.

Located on the lower ground floor of Hotel Indigo, Mamucium provides a wholesome dining experience and a selection of lovely cocktails. Both, evening meals and breakfast are second to none, with Eggs Royal to die for.
Mamucium is an interesting mix. The contemporary restaurant offers a new take on all-time favourite pub grub, such as steak and ale pie, but at the same time delivers a more gourmet experience. The staff are attentive and dedicated, the selection of dishes is not expansive but satisfactory, and the atmosphere of the place is genuinely lovely. We had a table booked for 7:30 pm and haven't left until well after 10:00! It speaks volumes, indeed.
J. G.
Five stars with opportunity to get better however they're just small niggles.
The food was first class, normally, and the climate made by the guitarist playing and chiming in behind the scenes makes things extremely loose. Which is sustained by the speed of eating. Administration is expeditious however never feels hurried.
P. H. C. S.
Well, the shop, music and customer service it's great, but the quality of the drinks it's not the best one, as you can see the photo bellow, my americano doesn't look like americano coffee, it looks like a filter coffee.
Z. S.
Service was a bit slow. I had afternoon tea with a friend, it was a good portion for both of us but the taste was a little disappointing in some of the items. I was also disappointed not to see some kind of take on a cucumber sandwich, but I guess I was expecting something a little more traditional. He decor wasn't really to my taste, heavy duty industrial and didn't give a relaxing atmosphere. The toilets were very nice though. Overall, I've had better, but I've had worse.
C. S.
The staff are as amazing as the food. I love this place.
J. S.
The steak was mega! Great flavour, seasoned well. Great service by the young lady who served us. We enjoyed the Malbec. Menu could have been more descriptive (sultanas in the pud). Will be back though.
T. T.
We came here late September for a deal that offered 50% off with email sign ups- a good discount!
The interior is modern and smart, which could be why the fairly basic pub grub menu came as a surprise. I’m not sure if this was a reduced Covid offering, but the choices were limited to a burger, a pie etc.
I went for the calamari to start, which was nothing special. Similarly, the beef burger was satisfactory.
From this experience, it strikes me as an ideal spot to grab a bite to eat near the station, but not a lot more.
NB: It seems like more exciting dishes appear on their Autumn/Winter menu- some of them definitely weren’t available on our visit.
G. F.
The food is great. The place look very nice and neat. I would expect better and faster serving. We have reserved table for 6 people. After we've been seated, we had to wait 30 minutes for drinks (we had to ask the waiter to take our order for drinks) and 55 minutes for pre booked 1kg gooey baked French cheese. Waiters should look out more for the costumer needs. Opportunity to improvement in costumer service.
M. D.
Food was gorgeous, staff were brilliant and very attentive and the atmosphere was great. Would definitely recommend and will certainly be returning. Compliments to the Chef, the staff and the management. Thank you for making what had already been a lovely evening in town even better.
N. H.
The cafe been closed for about a year but now you can go in the restaurant and get your coffee ☕ to sit in or take away OK
D. B.
Absolutely outstanding service, food and atmosphere.
Went here to propose to my now fiance. Food was absolutely delicious, staff were very attentive and knowledgeable about the food they were serving. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. Thank you for making the night so memorable. We will be returning here, as it is my partners new favourite restaurant in Manchester.
M. R.
The food and service is great and I will be going again
S. B.
Exemplary service from booking until we left. Food and cakes were top notch and it was a very enjoyable hour
L. p.
Really tasty food! We went for the 3-2-1 deal (3 courses and a bottle of wine for £20 each) which was amazing value. Everything was delicious and all the staff were really friendly. Would definitely recommend!
N. U.
Loved the place, great ambiance, good food, also the dessert is a must try, especially the tart.
D. S.
Absolutely wonderful staff, greeted as soon as I walked in. Excellent variety on their menu and can cater for all dietary requirements. The staff go above and beyond all expectations. Nice, relaxing and cool atmosphere. Best place to keep out of the rain near Victoria Station. Couldn't recommend it more.
D. R.
Nice environment. Quite expensive for size of what was called a regular cup of coffee. Would have called it small.
S. B.
Tried the new menu, and there is a great choice to suit everyone, highly recommended
B. P.
Had lunch on Friday. Took quite a while to get drinks served , also the food, which was very good, just wasn't hot enough for me. Nice place. Think maybe they were struggling a little with the current situation. Would go back when back to normal.
J. G.
Fantastic meal. Super cool environment with easy access for disabled customers. Food was absolutely delicious. We particularly loved the way staff enthused over their favourite dishes. Staff friendly and attentive, couldn't have done more. Our first time here and won't be our last and would highly recommend. A little gem in the heart of Manchester
N. L.
Starter and dessert were good...main was alright just not a lot of it at all....the pie main was literally just a reasonably small pie with about 18 skinny fries on a huge plate accompanied with about 50ml of gravy in a separate pot...for £14 (£7 on EOHO but even that seemed expensive for what it was)
J. W.
Nice venue and nice staff, only ate off a set menu so there wasn't a huge selection, the review may be different off the full menu, but it was just ok. Nice enough, but wasn't blown away by any of it
A. H.
Reasonable bar and the drinks were okay. IPA was off and the bottles were more Ruby beers.
Very strict on tables in the restaurant area despite no waiting list or signage to say the tables were taken.
F. M.
Really friendly and helpful staff.
We order the cheesemas offer 1kg for 3 people and was delicious.
The food around looked amazing as well.
Definitely coming back soon.
s. l.
Came here on saturday 07 th for the 1kg cheese , omg it was amazing !!!! The chef Andrew brought and explained everything on the table and was so friendly and informative.
The service was also incredible thanks to Jack and Nicole . Will never forget my lunch at this restaurant and will be back as often as is possible . Thank you
M. K.
Excellent food. Shame about the detail. Cutlery and crockery not polished after wash. Let the final presentation down. Food well priced. Cocktails pricey. Service pretty good.
J. R.
Had the lunch menu which was fantastic value and quality. The onion soup was delicious and the rump was cooked perfectly. Couldn't fault it. Look forward to returning soon.
J. T.
Afternoon tea is better than most hotels, but nothing fantastic. Service is very slow, with multiple mistakes made. Had to ask twice for the bill, with staff partly clearing the table before forgetting us again.
A. R.
The food was good, service a little slow but still good! The main I had was very tasty, the Burrata was missing some flavor and sadly the pavlova was too dry. Would probably still come back tho
S. P.

S. L.
Lovely food, drinks were very expensive but great service
P. B.
Sunday before a big MEN event. Short staffed long wait for drinks so buy beer at bar. Food pretty good . But overall not quite got their act together
P. W.
Good food, friendly staff who were not very experienced. Very few diners and therefore no atmosphere. Went for a special deal lunch which was great value.
J. v.
Nice atmosphere and the food was good but they forgot about us for a while so service was slow.
A. N.
Not normally one to eat in hotel restaurants, but this one is something special. Very enjoyable meal, and pleasant service from Imogen. Would definitely visit again when I'm next in the area.
D. T.
Food was lovely some issues with service which were addressed very professionally by the manager.
C. j.
Scrumptious afternoon tea, They even catered for my wheat allergy.
M. P.
Food was excellent. Service friendly but very slow in bursts of activity then none. 50mins waiting for dessert after ordering.
b. w.
Had a good birthday meal there with my family
C. F.
Mamucium restaurant is very close to Victoria Station in Manchester. Lovely+good atmosphere. Excellent food serve by friendly pleasant waitresses.
Certainly would go again even though its on the expensive side.👍👍
S. H.
The hotel is beautiful the rooms are spacious and comfortable the staff were extremely helpful and friendly when we had a technical issue with our TV and promptly sent someone to repair it the only downfall was the full English breakfast only 1/4 of a mushroom a tiny portion of beans 1/4 of a slice of black pudding and a very small tomato grilled only 1 sossage thankfully we received 2 slices of bacon and a fried egg but really it was a let down to a near perfect stay thank you to all the staff for being so nice though
J. S.
Lovely looking place, go seated very quickly but waited quite a while for someone to take our drinks order
J. O.
There were only 2 tables, us and someone else but they sat us back to back which I'm not sure why especially due to covid 🤷
Something I are didn't agree with me so ended up with stomach ache in the evening.
A. Z.
Beautifully designed place with flavoursome meals... staff were lovely and very attentive. Highly recommend!
C. L.
Great food and nice staff. They were a bit keen to put the breakfast stuff out even at 9pm when people still eating
J. M.
Not been open long, enjoyed our meal here, well cooked & presented. Lovely staff. Would go again.
S. P.
Really nice place, pleasant staff. Great food.
B. M.
Food was nice. Service was slow but the price is just a little too inflated for the value you get in my opinion.
S. G.
Part of hotel Indigo. Okay breakfast apart from terrible toasters. Hotel itself very nice and reasonable price for Manchester, literally round the corner from Victoria train station.
E. M.
The food was beautiful! Staff were attentive and the decor is fresh - we'll definitely be back!
