Reviews of SANGAM MANCHESTER - Luxurious Indian Cuisine | Reserve A Table & Dine With Us This Evening...

Rang up to book incase we don't find any tables in the evening for 8:30pm on a Friday. Man on phone said no need to book. Couldn't sit at the flower vine booth because they charge £75 lol.
Lively place with a mix of music genres playing but abit too loud that you can't hear what the waiter's saying.
Ordered drinks virgin Pina colada & sangam fruit punch. They ended up giving us a Pina colada with alcohol by accident which we took a sip of and realised. So they gave a new drink and wouldn't charge for the first drink. Drinks were good overall.
For starters ordered popodoms, meat samosa and king prawn tikka. Presented well, not amazing but very nice.
Waiter offered us water which was very courteous.
Service from the waiter's really good asking often to make sure the food is okay and if we need anything.
Mains laal mas, chicken jalali with garlic naan and cheesy naan. Currys were top notch spicy (apna style) just the way we like it.
As they got one of the drinks wrong they gave us free desserts (rasmalai & gulab jamun) the ice cream that they served us had almost icicles in like it had been defrosted and put back in freezer, so I wasn't a fond of that.
Overall me and partner gave it a 7/10.

This beautiful restaurant on Portland Street offers excellent Indian food keeping its authenticity. Served by the fantastic Rana who is very knowledgeable if you are not sure of what to order. Food can be altered to your spice level. Environment is warn and friendly with a 5 star hygiene food rating. Definitely recommend this restaurant for it great ambience, food, cocktails, shisha and staff!

Was here for an evening out and a catch up. Lovely food and service. Was very tasty and loved the seating areas. Very spacious between yourself and other customers. Lovely decor and attentive staff who welcome you with a smile. Only downfall is i feel the prices could be lowered slightly and the music was a little too loud making it hard to understand conversation but overall good experience. Would visit again

And the decor is stunning

We visited at about 6pm on a Sunday and the restaurant was about half full, by the time we left it was pretty much full. The service was friendly and prompt. The food was excellent. I choose the lamb rezala for main and the lamb was so tender, flaking apart, and no nasty fatty bits. The flavours were delicious and the sauce wasn’t too oily like some Indian food can be. I would recommend Sangam for a modern looking place that has great food. I’d definitely go back 👍🏻

Let's start with the look and feel.. Decor is really nice. Atmosphere is also really good. Staff very friendly and attentive so all good there. The food.. although not an option on the menu, I asked for a mixed platter for 1. Waiter was accommodating and said OK.. lamb lal mass for mains with boiled rice and tandoori roti.
Although I would like to say otherwise because everything else leading to this pont was good, If I am being honest the starter was not a great experience. The items on the disk were fine, but they were luke warm and dry which was disappointing because they looked soo good. Maybe because it was a half portion or maybe I am making excuses for them but something was not right. Saw a full portion being served and it looked very different to mine.
The mains on the other hand was perfect. Really, really good and cooked to perfection. Lamb was tender and curry was very tasty. No complaints at all.
Not that is matters much but had to pay for the poppadoms. Not a figure that would be of any concern and being from Ireland its unusual. It may be a thing in the UK.
All in all, I would recommend this place.

Great Indian food! Samosa and Chicken wings for starters. Butter chicken and roti afterwards. Really tasty! Amazing menu - much more to come back for - had to take the children friendly dishes.

This restaurant is incredible. It's quite busy but has a nice vibe to it. The waiters are friendly and fun. The interior design is quite modern which contrasts with the classic Bollywood movie posters, this overall makes the restaurant enjoyable to be in.
For starters, the mixed and vegetable platter starters are kind of expensive but well worth the price with a group of people, these starters taste fresh and succulent. The group I was with didn't leave a single thing left on the serving plates.
For my main course, I had the chicken rezala which has these amazing layers of flavour and just enough spice to give you a kick but not so overpowering to ruin the meal, combine that with pilau rice makes it the whole thing tasting quite delectable. Also the Peshawar naan breads were very good.
In conclusion, this place is absolutely worth visiting if you're a fan of curries, like myself, as the food is all very well made and the restaurant itself has an enjoyable atmosphere.

One of the best places of Indian Food away from home , Great Taste , Ambience , Good Service and Friendly Staff , Bhel Puri was decent enough , was similar to Haldirams Bhel puri , but garlic naan and kadai paneer were amazing , Highly recommended , would definitely visit again , Friendly Manager as well
J. L.
Service was very good, we enjoyed the busy atmosphere, the food was tasty and full of flavour. We recommend.

We went as a family meal for the buffet as the Chinese buffet restaurants were queuing out the door. This place was quiet and no question all. Odd the place was so quiet at 1pm. The reason why it was quiet was soon to be realised. The buffet was about 10 dishes including pilaf rice and naan bread. Not amazing selection but resonal quality. However, an extremely rude "manager " came over and abruptly told us to use the same plate as his boss would be angry at the two plates we had used for our starters and main course. With this standard of service, lack of choice and a broken toilet door I would not recommend a visit here. We certainly will not be returning!
K. C.
Loved it here, I had lamb jalfrezi it was so tasty. It was nice and spicy too. The service is one of a kind, always checking to see if the meal is OK and if we need anything. My friend struggled to eat hers as it was too hot. They gave her yogurt and mint sauce. Will be definitely returning again soon.

We walked in without a prior booking on a thursday evening and got a table easily. The ambience is nice, really pretty interiors and lightings. The food was pretty good but quite expensive. It is easily 30-40 pounds for just 2 people. The naan was really undercooked. Weird Fact - I personally found the chairs abit uncomfortable. But hands down, one of the best indian restaurants that I've visited in Manchester.
B. K. Z.
We started with drinks Blue motorcycle and pina colada was at its best. Then Mixed grill, Chicken Biryani, Chicken chaat puri, chicken Jalali and Garlic Naan everything was Top notch. One of the best Indian restaurant to visit in town.
D. K.
Nice service, great vibes, amazing food. Portion was huge as well, highly recommended!
J. R.
What can I say apart from truly the best meal I have ever had - and I have tasted quite a few Indian dishes. Always my go to meal of choice and this time visiting Manchester with my girlfriend was no different. Sangam is inviting from the outside, brightly lit signage and I vibrant look inside. Upon entry we were met by very courteous staff and seated quickly. The menu is extensive with some dishes I’d not seen before, my starter was a new dish to me and simply delicious. Our selection was:
Staters - Joshila Tikka and garlic mushroom puri. Main - Chicken madras, chicken tikka, mushroom rice, chips and garlic naan.
Drinks - Cobra.
The food was incredible and we would definitely recommend this restaurant.
Thank you to Hossain and the team for a really brilliant experience.
P. G.
Absolutely can’t fault the food. It was amazing and one of the best authentic restaurants I’ve been to.
The service is a different kettle of fish, at first the we had a great server but he seem to disappear, we then had no one come up to take drink orders during the meal and kept having to ask for a server. There were stuff missing from our order which we had to ask for multiple time. Once the mains were completed nobody came to take any dessert orders, so again I had to ask.
I would recommend this restaurant as the food is that good, I’m hoping the service performance was a once off
S. P.
Nice restaurant to dine with friends and family.. Good authentic Indian food..
H. W. H.
The decoration of the place is good; the staff is okay. I did not order any main meal course because we were not hungry. I order starter meals, So the waiter told me I am giving you a favor if there is any other waiter they send you back because that is a restaurant so you should order one main course. Today is Saturday. We already have 194 reservations. But when I am there around 3:00 pm most of the restaurant is empty. Still, I thank him because he saved me from embarrassment if they threw us out of their restaurant. I suggest you write a minimum of one main course is compulsory, or we will charge you a minimum of one main course. A customer like me doesn't dare to come inside if they are not hungry.
S. A.
Our waiter was Hossain, really helpful and polite service. Staff were friendly and attentive to all the tables and created a pleasant atmosphere.
Food was really well cooked and delivered, only consideration when going would be to ask about the heat of your dish, staff are super helpful and can answer mist questions
For our first time in the area, we where very happy. Only draw back is that they are everyone to review them which is a little bit pushy but they are a good place to eat
T. C.
Tasty food and good menu to choose from. However, slightly overpriced considering the portion sizes!
G. B.
We had a lovely group dinner, the service was really good and food was excellent with a good choice for vegans and vegetarians. Food arrived quickly, no mistakes, no delays which could be challenging for large groups like ours (just under 20 people). There is a compulsory 10% service charge added for groups. The staff allowed us to split the bill, which was very helpful too.
Z.
I was skeptical but when I saw Raj Kapoor as I walked in my heart was set, I knew I had to eat here. The more I ventured into Sangam the more intoxicated I became with their bollywood decor.
The food was nice and fresh and hot, they even took in our special requests. Although I really wanted to try venison they didn't have it in stock. The staff were extremely helpful and cheery. Perhaps we came at the wrong time but more bollywood music would have been fantastic ((and maybe some Akshay kumar movie posters)(and maybe an Amitabh Bachchan Impersonator serenading the guests at their tables))
R. H.
SEA BASS WAS AMAZING. MOCKTAIL WAS NICE BUT ONE PERSON THOUGHT IT WAS TOO SWEeT. DESSERT WAS NICE BUT SMALL. THANK YOU IMRAN AND HOSSAIN FOR SUCH GOOD SERVICE!
李.
The food was very delicious and many thanks to Arif for his service, he is a handsome and sunny man! Very happy today
M. B.
Amazing experience! The interior
is stunning and the food was not only very presentable but tasted delicious, especially the chicken wings 10/10! . First time visiting from out of town with mum, and I must say that the experience overall lead lovely, very busy and great lively atmosphere, One of the staff members young male was very welcoming and checked up on us multiple times to see if we needed anything aswell as was helpful and kind enough to give us directions on the fastest way to to get to the local cinema in time for our film showing… highly recommend if you’re ever looking for good quality food and service in central Manchester!
K. S.
Was hesitant to visit due to the reviews. However the food and service were amazing. Currys were fresh and flavourful. Servers were attentive and helpful. Would definitely come back.
C. H.
Went for Sunday lunch for the buffet. Food selection was good and the quality was very high. Staff were great and very attentive. Great drinks selection as well with a large cocktail list if you looking for a bigger night than just a dinner!
D. m.
SanGam was a lovely place to eat at, I came on my birthday and they brought out a cake and even danced with me! Such beautiful people that work here and spot on customer service. Food was lovely to, will be returning.
A. S.
Went there on a weekday afternoon, based on a word-of-mouth review from an acquaintance about the good ambience and good food. The ambience was certainly good - colourful, bold, lots of artificial flowers in a booth, jazzy-traditional chairs, etc. But the food didn't feel as good as we expected it to be.
We tried:
Samosa chaat - too much yogurt, didn't feel like a chaat, was too sweet and no onion, and just one chutney. It's sad to see travesty of Samosa Chaat at Indian restaurants, especially the ones which are big and famous.
Kurkuri Bhindi - very good and certainly up to the mark
Pani Puri - I've attached a picture too, of the portion served - there was only 1 chutney! And it was too sweet. Again, a travesty of a flavourful street food item.
Fish Tikka - this was very tasty and possibly the most liked dish that we may go back again for
Shami Kebab - bit 'meh', not exciting. Taste was nothing one might associate with a Shami Kebab at a good Indian restaurant.
Overall, it felt like a very 'instagrammable' place, with OK-ish food; may need to try few other dishes.
K. M.
i went to sangam on sunday with my friend for a meal. the food was amazing, great service from arif very polite and very helpful.
N. S.
Best Indian restaurant in Manchester. Best waitresses and best experience. The staff is incredible and the food is great.
S. U.
Chose this restaurant as a whim, and this was a great decision. Appetiser was delicious, and was the perfect portion, and mains was even better, and extremely filling. However, the best part was our host Hossain who was extremely welcoming, and made the whole atmosphere warm. Thank you Hossain. Me and my sister will be back again. Hopefully will have room for desserts.
R. S.
Fantastic place to eat and drink, delicious high quality food and beautiful cocktails both alcoholic and non alcoholic, the staff are so helpful and guide you through the menu.
Overall wonderful experience I will definitely visit again.
A ++++.
N. G.
This place is an upscaled and descent prices for the food. A lot of Bollywood posters right from 70s can be seen in the restaurant 😁
If you're after spicy food then just let them know and they would make it as spicy as you need unlike a few restaurants I've come across who did not sway from their menu or the taste.
If you're looking for nice Indian meal then this place is definitely recommended.
H. T.
Best Indian I’ve had in a long time. Staff were all friendly and couldn’t do enough for you. Rayhan and hossain were our waitresses and were lovely with my little boy. Food was fast service too no waiting around. Will definitely be returning when back in the area
S.
Lovely food and resturant definately recommend!
C. G. S.
Delicious food and excellent service. Quality Indian food in the city center
m. d.
quite busy place but food and service was good.
s. j.
Beautiful restaurant and amazing service from the minute you walk in. Impeccable service from Nabil and Raj who really looked after us. Food was amazing with the just the right blend of spice. Wish we lived closer so we could visit more often!
P. W.
Wonderful food, wonderful atmosphere. Not your typical Indian restaurant- definitely worth visiting as a special night out in Manchester. Great service from the staff.
A. H.
Very nice tasty food, long time since I've enjoyed a meal out as much. Also, need to mention Rayhan, very attentive, great service
V. N.
Amazing ambiance and service. Food is delicious, but should not expect exact India taste as it is made with respects to foreigners but if ask them to make it spicy they will. If you are using Taste card, then call and book the table, also they accept only 2 cards. They gives complimentary rice papads as well.

I’m currently fasting at the moment and I was really craving Indian food so off I went and searched Sangam. Upon reaching, Hossain came across very nicely and directed me to my tables! From the minute I entered, I was treated so well! I literally wish there were clones of Hossain because every one in the hospitality industry should be like him! I rate the restaurant a solid 10/10 and Hossain for being our server an even solider 10/10!!!! I definitely would come back here and tell all my friends and family and whoever is reading this review to please go here and check it out! I’m not much of a person to go and write a review but I have to say I’m amazed by the service!!! Good job 🥰🥰🥰 If you’re coming here please ask for Hossain, top guy and he will make your experience even more better!
M. A.
Very friendly and nice staff. Food is extremely yummy. It's an indian cuisine. Their BBQ items are very good and don't forget to try makhni dal. Nans are soft and served hot right from tandoor. Staff is very welcoming for kids and they do serve them lollipops while leaving that's why my daughters made me visit this restaurant again 😊.
A. S.
Brilliant food, as always. This could well be the best Indian restaurant in the UK.
And they have revamped the interiors to give it a Bollywood feel, aa well as improving the service a lot.
Very highly recommended.
S. K.
Very beautiful Indian restaurant, after a very long time I have see a restaurant with beautiful decor. Movie posters of old and new Indian movies looks so eligent and classic 👌🏻👌🏻
Food was also excellent, we liked the vegetable samosas and a vegetarian version of jalfrezi. Masala chai was a perfect end to our dinner.
There is still some scope for improvement on service side but overall it was a good experience.
D. B.
Had such a great time here for my birthday. Staff couldn't do enough for you. Food tasted amazing, and throughout September they have 20% off food on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesdays
K. R. S.
Best Indian restaurant ever! Authentic flavour, really tasty food and delicious! Definitely we'll be back! The service impeccable, the servers are so nice and friendly!
A. H.
What a fantastic experience at Sangam Manchester.
From the minute I walked in, I was greeted by which I assume was the manager, who welcomed to my seat.
After ordering my meal, I patiently waited as the resturant seemed pretty busy. I was greeted by two lovely waiters called Kayum and Hassan.
Whilst being serverd the delicious food, Mr Kayum had recognised I was an existing guest who hadn't visited the restaurant since the pandemic.
To my amazement he remembered how I always liked a little extra Naga Pickle on the side with my main meal. He's an absolute Hero!
Will definitely be back, many thanks Sangam Mcr !
A. M.
Great ambience- posters of Hindi movies from different times adorn the walls; food and drinks were okay. Students may enjoy a 20% off.
K. I.
This lively decor place is located in the middle of town centre (so be aware of street parking restrictions) but there's a Q Park opposite.
The restaurant helps you travel in time to a bollywood set with lush vibrant colours filling your eyes to water. It boasts of a scrumptious buffet which is very competitively priced. For the price, the food was much better than I anticipated.
Would definitely recommend!!
G. D.
The best Indian restaurant in the North West. Amazing cuisine, excellent, friendly service and incredibly beautiful décor. A unique experience, and they have 3, soon to be 4 individual restaurants, located in and around Greater Manchester. Highly recommend!
S. B.
Excellent quality tasty food, with great service. What's not to like? We'll be back.
A. M.
Il keep this very simple. Service 11/10 if that's possible from the management to all the staff they went above and beyond to rectify any problems. Main courses amazing curries omg very tasty. The starters were a big let down. We ordered the mixed platter x 2. Fish tikka and chicken tikka was gorgeous. But the sheek kebab and lamb chops dry some parts a little rare. The g nan and roti were welldone. So Mr Tandoori Chef you are letting the side down. G nan should be alot softer. Overall 6/10
V. C.
Amazing service by the best manager. excellent taking care of orders and guest. Lovely drinks and ambience to have a party and fun evening.
Will definitely come back.
N. Z.
I came here recently with my family and we all really enjoyed the whole experience - the food came promptly and was tasty and the staff provided amazing service - they were really friendly/attentive. highly recommend!
N. P.
Lovely staff!! Food was really nice we got starters! Great service & they bought our a dessert for free for my friends birthday
S. R.
The food here is amazing you pay for it but worth every penny the fish platter for 2 as a starter is a must
G. C.
We ate here last night and it was sensational. The service was brilliant, food quick & tasty, ans the atmosphere and decor was divine. We recommend!⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Had a fantastic time celebrating my Dad's 85th Birthday . All the credit to the staff of Sangam who were exceptional in the service. Food was to the highest quality Thank you. 🙏
J. P.
Had some amazing food in a a lovely restaurant with very attentive staff. Somewhere I will be recommending to friends when they visit Manchester
h. t.
Nice lunch buffet. Good variety of food. Not too spicy. All a bit sweet for me. Nan not very fluffy or fresh. But a good choice of entrees and mains. Not for a Indian food gourmet. Good service.
M. T.
As an Indian food lover, I may say this is a very delicious place to have exquisite local cuisine, good environment with music and food that will make you enjoy their culture. I gave them 4 stars because we got served a bit late than expected.
S. B.
We had a fabulous meal in here last night it was late but they were very gracious and served us....lovely staff especially Hossain...would definitely recommend it....thank you for serving us we did appreciate it...
P. s.
I have gone for the lunch into Sangam, it was a buffet lunch, where I could taste samosa, salad 🥗, 🍚, chicken balti and more. It was very authenticate indian taste so I could enjoy it.
م. ٠.
Good indian Restaurant, The service is good but a bit slow, The staff are friendly, food is delicious but not cheap, They charge you 10% Service fee So be careful because this should be optional
A. S.
I went to this restaurant after reading 5 star Google reviews I was not disappointed I was served by Hasan he was brilliant waiter and the food was amazing as well atmosphere great staff great food what can I ask more 👍
S. L.
Brillant experience at Sangam. Delicious food, first class service and pulled out all the stops for a friend's birthday.
v. b.
Loved it...we have been served by Asif which has been attentive to any of our requests...food wasn't only nice to eat but very well presented...location just great and the venue is modern clean and nice
a. S.
The place was very friendly especially our waiter Arif who was very nice. The food was great and the food came quite quickly.
F. F.
Fantastic place reasonably priced, amazing food, and service 11/10
A. T.
Went there for a dinner once & a lunch take away. They have a buffet style meal option along with a robust ala carte menu. The menu, food and service is top class. So is the ambience, location and the prices. Authentic & delicious Indian food at throw away prices a must visit place
j. h.
Great service, compliments to all staff especially raj, great food good service, best indian in town vicinity by sure, fairly priced and good presentation.
R.
Absolutely beautiful aesthetic and decor. There’s a flower wall located near the bar that you can take photos with (when the lighting is cooperating) for selfies etc. Seating is a bit close for comfort to other tables depending on where you’re sitting but I guess you could always ask to be moved. The food is amazing and a great portion size for the price. I got chicken tikka masala with naan and a cocktail. It was lovely and will definitely be back. Probably when it’s less busy so I can be situated on a table not too close to anyone
a.
Good food, decent service, nice atmosphere and decent prices. I'll definitely pop back in for food when I'm in Manchester next.
K. S.
Lovely Indian food in chic interiors.
M. C.
The place has really good food and I am impressed with how the staff carry themselves. Totally recommend this place to others
C. M.
Was gifted an afternoon tea for for my wife and I, really glad we finally got around to booking it. The food was fantastic - delicious and filling, a great treat. Nahid served us and was really polite, friendly and attentive. He seemed really keen to make sure everything was just right for us. Will definitely be going back.
P. P.
A great night at the restaurant, the food was amazing, Great service and very well looked after. Thank you to the Manager and his employees.
A. S.
Food was absolutely amazing, the wait staff were knowledgeable about the food, able to advise on what to order, and very welcoming and friendly. The owner came to speak with us and ask if there was anything more they could do to make our visit better. Can't wait to go back.
D.
have had a absolute amazing meal at this Sangam Indian restaurant, the food and service was fantastic, will definitely go again.Thankyou for such a wonderful evening.
h.
Excellent food and service. Food was really tasty. Will defiantly come back again.
H. K.
Nice decor. Good.ambience. the music was a bit out of.tune with the place though. Mostly curry items in the afternoon buffet. Would have been better if some dry items were added to the menu.
L. B.
Food was delicious and the staff were amazing! Special shout out to Mr Raj who was particularly helpful!
E. P.
It's very clean, the food is always hot and the staff don't rush you so you can enjoy your food in peace 😊.
s. h.
My favourite restaurant in Manchester, food is superb and menu A great value. None of the meat is ever tough and only Indian where the lamb is meat not gristle. Everything tastes like it's cooked fresh. Service is lovely, they acknowledge regulars without being pushy and the meal is always relaxing. And if you can't/don't drink, they make great mocktails too!
S. C.
A very good first experience!
We were on a visit with an overnight stay in Manchester since we left UK to live overseas in 2004. We both worked in Manchester for many years and wanted to see the changes in the city centre.
I was checking out restaurants on the Meerkats App and the Sangam Indian restaurant in the city and close to our hotel came up.
We hadn't used the app for meals before and I realized we had to book the table in advance, which I did.
We started out with Cobra beer and a soft drink for me, shortly followed by Shami Kebabs, Chicken Jalfrezi served with plain boiled rice.
The kebabs were served very differently than any others we've had with the spiced lamb cooked inside what appeared to be a very light omelette/pancake. I was dubious about it because I don't really like eggs and would never order one in a restaurant.
But, I was pleasantly surprised. The lamb had just the right amount of spice and I didn't get a real taste of the egg wrapping.
The main course came out wrong but was returned and rectified quickly without any fuss and the waiter who took our order came to us to apologise.
Now, the dishes weren't large portions by any means and mine contained just 5 pieces of chicken but it was delicious with the right amount of spicy heat which started as a slow burn at the second mouthful.
The rice was cooked to perfection.
The cost for 2 people was £27 including the Meerkats discounted one starter and one main course. This would have been an expensive meal for us and without the offer, we most likely wouldn't have gone inside.
However, if you're prepared to pay the price or have a Tastecard / Meerkats App - please do try it.
The restaurant is beautiful inside, very tastefully decorated and well thought out with the layout.
The table service is excellent with the staff quickly and unobtrusively clearing and resetting place settings as soon as the previous occupants have departed but without rushing the diners.
Definitely recommended and we will return again if we're in Manchester.
A. T.
Good food with a lot of choices (also lots of vegetarian options). Good service as well
S. G.

Been going to this restaurant for the past 6yrs when I vist Manchester, food is really tasty and service with a smile..Not to keen on the music as I thought I was in a rave party...I was waiting for everyone to start dancing....but still the best Indian I have tasted.
E. M.
Service, atmosphere, food was amazing. The fish tikka in appetizer platter was the best! Thank you Najid
M. S. E.
Great food and lovely service. Definitely dining in again.

Mixed review. Booked a table for 9 on website. When we arrived no record even though i had an email confirming reservation. Then they set a table for 8 (tables pushed together). When i said its for 9 people one of the staff got bolshy and said we will add another seat when everyone arrives. They never did.
Food was good.
Ordering was bad. 6 adults and 3 children. Would we go again...no its back to Fazendas ..

Great indian dishes. Good service. Nice athmosphere.
S. N.
An amazing experience! Everything from the ambience (as Raj proudly told us a bit more about), service (including meeting a Deepak from Chennai!) and the food itself was excellent. As someone who's been missing the flavours of home (both food-wise and people-wise), this place delivered beyond our expectations. Highly recommend!
I. D.
Nice ambiance! Good selection of authentic Indian food.

Amazing place for family dinner 👍 Beautiful Ambience 👍 We were served by Arif 🥂

Visited Wednesday 20th October 2021 between buffet time's 12pm & 2.30pm it's was busy. But found no enough food. Being put out.quick enough to cope with demand..no enough stuff on..staff seemed stressed out.all so customers were over filling their plates..so not enough food left when you're queuing up especially meat and chicken curry.. would suggest the staff pre- Cook more Currys in advance to cope with demand.. some customers were coming back 3 or 4 time's to fill up... Recommend.them put a better system out then what they currently have to keep the food heated they are to small to cope..& suggest that the current price at £.11.50p to £16.50p to ensure that the right clientele comes in noticed that a few dog end's were coming in.. this is because it's cheap..& these were helping them selves to the food..so there's nothing left for every one else! Other than that the food was excellent
R. H.
Decor was excellent, but the food was even better! Had chicken sawali with pilau rice & nan bread, are the lot 😁
P. H.
Absolutely amazing place. Food is perfect, the vibe is excellent, beautiful decor, music is at a comfortable level, staff are genuine and smiley and this experience is all at a very reasonable price. Perfect place to go with friends
H. K.
Nice decor. Good.ambience. the music was a bit out of.tune with the place though. Mostly curry items in the afternoon buffet. Would have been better if some dry items were added to the menu.
a. f.
Nice place and tasty foods. Decoration is amazing. Strong recommended😋

Went there for a dinner once & a lunch take away. They have a buffet style meal option along with a robust ala carte menu. The menu, food and service is top class. So is the ambience, location and the prices. Authentic & delicious Indian food at throw away prices a must visit place

We had the best curry we've ever tasted here. The service was great and the staff are delightful ... totally recommend.

Amazing from start to finish
Fantastic friendly welcome...staff are a credit to the owners. We visited for my daughter's Birthday & everything was perfect! Best Indian food I've tasted for a long time..highly recommend.
V. S.
We had such high expectations of Sangam City Centre but were really quite disappointed. The food was ok, not the best we've ever eaten in the way of Indian gourmet. A couple of small bones found in the lamb dish, and the naans are more like poppadoms, very thin and the peshwari lacked flavour. Not only did we incur a 10% service charge (we like to tip based on the service we receive not be told that it's mandatory regardless of the service received), we also were not given the 15% happy hour reduction. All in all, not a great experience and there are far too many more better restaurants in Manchester to go to the we wouldn't need to come back to this place.
S. L.
Absolutely fantastic experience. Visited for the first time with my family and were very impressed with not just the quality of the food, but the decor, and lovely customer service. This will definitely be a regular place whenever in Manchester. Highly recommended.
A. B.
Nice food, great ambience, thanks to Raj for such amazing time.

The restaurant has a nice open feel and is very comfortable. The staff were friendly and very efficient. The food was good, but not particularly special: would recommend for larger groups
A. L. M.
Awesome food. Great ambiance. Will surely comeback again.

Super beautiful stylish Indian restaurant. I went by myself and I was very well served by A. Kayum, he was always checking on everything and gave me coffee on the house. I love it ! The food is delicious ohmygod, one of the best curries I had. Lovely, when in Manchester I'll certainly go back.
E. A.
Lovely place, the kids love it. The food was gorgeous.
Our waiter Hussein was sunshine, very friendly.
B. M.
Really nice food, good menu with a lot of choice and friendly + attentive staff.
c. p.
Absolutely the best curry I've ever had. Service was great, the decor is lovely. By far the best curry house I've been too.
A. M.
What an experience, I've just come home and all we talked about how tasty and the service was.
Starter: I had chicken puri, wow 10/10 the chicken puri was full of flavour.
Main course: Lamb Karahi, another wow 10/10, the lamb was beautifully cooked, nice and tender. I asked for the karahi to be spiced up and come out how I wanted it.
Pilua rice, Garlic and Corriander and followed by chips.
Drinks, non alcohol mocktail: Strawberry daquri
Server, Kaiyum choudhury looked after us from the second I was sat to the my exit.
Everything was a 10/10
Will definitely be back soon.
J. A.
One of the best Indian restaurants I've eaten at. The food was delicious and the staff were nice, welcoming and attentive. The music and ambiance were nice. I would eat there again.
M. H.
Amazing customer service let down by mediocre food. The decor really doesn’t match the food quality. Food was very dry and all tasted the same.
Z. T.
Just had another lovely takeaway meal from Sangham. We order from here regularly and have tried a good portion of the menu. We never get a bad meal and the service is always excellent. We have eaten in the restaurant a couple of times too, the atmosphere is great and the staff are very professional and friendly. Highly recommended.

Nice place and tasty foods. Decoration is amazing. Strong recommended😋

Best food, best waiters, great experience!

Really friendly staff and had a wonderful buffet lunch in a reasonable price with my friends..Place is clean and comfortable for families. Suggest to add more Veg options as it seems bit less for people who prefer veg dishes. those who love non veg, dont forget to try the mango chicken. Highly recommended
M. I.
Nice food and good service, I would definitely go back here.
A. P.
Nice food (apart from the small and thin naan bread) and service was quick but was fairly expensive.
Two pints of Cobra costs nearly the same amount as a main course!
s. c.
Good food ,you really feel worth it.
F. A.
Such a nice experience
10/10 Food , ambience and atmosphere.

First time ever, that I've eaten in Manchester. I went here for a meal. It was 100% fantastic, for service, food and drinks. No complaints from me. Well done. Many thanks for a great night
W. S.
One of the best Indian places in Manchester! Date night cannot go wrong here! Wonderful vegetarian, and prices are reasonable. I know I will become a regular here.
L. K.
Really delicious food, has beaten every other Indian cuisine I've ever tried. The staff were amazing and very friendly. The atmosphere was perfect, and a great place to talk over dinner
E. B.
Nice service with nice food! Thank you guys for making my friends birthday special with the free baileys shots!
K. B.
Delicious Indian food. Elegant ambience and friendly staff make this a must-dine in Manchester.
J. A.
I have been here quite a few times now. Every time I come here, I feel amazed. One of the best Indian restaurant in Manchester. Each and every dishes are mouth outtering.. You will feel home after having the food.
The ambiance are also very nice and the stuff's are friendly enough to suggest you which dish you should go for depending your choices. Highly recommended..
J. D.
Very good and reasonably priced food, especially over lunch. Very friendly staff. Wide variety of starters and mains on the buffet
T. T.
(Visited Jul 2019)
I came here with a couple of friends: a tastecard provides two for one on all courses, but you have to order starters and mains. So, in a trio, it’s essentially three for two.
We ordered poppadums which came with a lovely, smooth chutney and a couple of other dipping sauces. As for starters, we shared a Paneer Tikka, Meat Samosa and Chicken Pakora. The latter was my favourite, though the paneer was very nice, too (a halloumi-like cheese).
I ordered the Murgh Tikka Lababdar, which was more or less a slightly spicier version of the Chicken Tikka Masala. One of my friends ordered a lamb dish- I tried a bit and it was delicious! We shared two portions of Pulao Rice.
Although I could have probably fitted a dessert in, the menu was lacklustre- and it was £4.20 for a chocolate log which is expensive.
The service was rather stony. Staff looked their happiest when we were leaving.
M. x.
It was our first time at Sangam and certainly not the last. Food was authentic Indian test - fresh and tasty. Friendly staff ensured we tailor the order. Location and ambience are positive - recommend and for an evening visit, best to book in advance.
D. B.
I was so amused by the ambience. The staff was helpful and friendly when we discovered we had same native language. Also the food that I ordered, Chicken Rezala was beyond words, it made me feel like home. The best Indian restaurant I have dined in so far. ❤️
J. C.
Just had our first takeaway from Sangam. In fact it was our first experience at all of the food. All I can is , I can't wait for them to reopen properly , it was bloody lovely 👍
b. k.
Amazing experience.. do try the chicken tikka masala
H. D.
Lovely after the new refurbishment (it was always nice but I love the new decor!) Possibly my favourite Indian in town. The mixed grill starter is to die for. I think they need to do up the bathrooms next. The staff are lovely and will make a fuss of you of it's your birthday :)
G. P.
Excellent food and service, best meal I’ve had in a long time. I very rarely leave a 5 star review but this place truly deserves it.
P. B.
We had a fantastic meal. Service was brilliant, food was so full of flavour. Very reasonably priced also for what we got. Left feeling stuffed and so satisfied. Will go here again next time I'm in Manchester and highly recommend
L. S.
Great food very accommodating. Will be returning again. Great for days out with family or dates etc.
G. B.
Food was AMAZING, service was EXCEPTIONAL. Meant to take pictures, but forgot to. It was that good! We came in during their 2 4 1 happy hour special. Didn’t know it was going on but it worked out great. Apparently they offer the special every day.

Great food
excellent Service 👍
A. F.
Great service 👍🏻
R. P.
Great food, wide choice, service attentive. Food not at all greasy as some Indians and best naan I've ever had!
Unusually a good wine list for an Indian restaurant.
All 4 of us loved our meals!
A. D.
Lovely place severing taste food. Different from ur standard curry house👌
C. S.
AMAZING! lovely restaurant, brilliant service and outstanding food! the cherry on top was the price! very reasonable! will be coming backa nd recommending to all my friends
w.
Waiting staff walking around with hands in pockets doesn’t present a very good welcome, and their attitude became a little passive-aggressive when challenged about the ‘optional’ 10% addition to the bill, so make sure you check your bill before paying.
The food however, was absolutely superb.
H. H.
Wonderful helpful staff food was cooked fresh and taste great lots of choice and recommended to try. Drinks and atmosphere wonderful. Recommended place .see you again 9ne day when in manchester.
C. W.
Excellent food and one of the waiters was very personable. The others were not very welcoming. Otherwise I would have given 5 stars. Nevertheless we had a lovely dinner.
T.
Had the slow cooked lamb shanks at the recommendation of our waiter Hossain. Delicious paired with the garlic naan. Service was attentive and gave us space, and the food for the table was great. Caters well for vegetarian and vegan diners and there are some high quality unique dishes. The mushroom bahji main was a revelation.
Thanks to everyone, and I hope anyone who reads this enjoys as well.
M. P. 1.
Only had time for starter but definitely will be back for more thx
g. r.
We went for my granddaughters birthday using taste card. The food was delicious and friendly service but the girls were young looking and inexperienced for such a plush place. The cocktails were very nice but the over charged us by £48 and did not deduct the taste card value from the total bill. We spoke to the manager who apologized for the mistake and blamed it on the girl at the till so beware when you bust and check your bill. On the plus side the food was good
M. G.
Good food, good location, friendly staff, we could eat there even though we didn't book a table, the restaurant is nice
A. D.
Such a pleasant ambience.
A. K.
Nice food, great service by attendant Raj
s. l.
This review is for the lunch buffet. Very limited choices, we only liked Chicken Jalfrezi. Rest of the food was bland and also no desserts. Quite sub par lunch buffet for an Indian restaurant in England where indian food is usually more authentic.
On the positive side, very good ambiance and very well decorated restaurant.
P. H.
If you like your curries bland, under-spiced and over-sweetened as is apparently popular in many corners of the UK, then this restaurant is not for you. If you want delicious rich and spicy authentic Indian cuisine served by friendly staff then look no further. Among the best curries I have eaten anywhere in the world.
S. N.
One of the best indian foods I have ever had in the UK and I have been to a lot of Indian restaurants incl London's best Indian takeaway chilli tuk tuk over which I would prefer this restaurant. The crab as a starter was very nice and the main course was delicious and heavy. The food tasted very good. The cleanliness was very good and the quality of the food was excellent. The design of the restaurant was very modern and beautiful. Overall, I would prefer this restaurant over a lot of others. A bit pricey but still one of the best in Manchester in my opinion.
J. W.
The food is great! The down fall here is the staff.. no one walks up to greet you and seat you. They wait till you walk up to them to seat you. Doesn’t pay attention to table until you have to wave them down for the bill. Food 5 stars while service is 1 star. Payed around 15 pounds for rice, naan bread, and curry.
N. K.
Excellent service, friendly staff. Recommended for mughlai cuisine.
J. E.
Mango Chicken was to die for my Partner Paul loved his extra hot curry he ordered to. Starters absolutely gorgeous . The staff are very friendly and helpful, nothing is to much trouble. Will defiantly visit again.
S. B.
Excellent Indian restaurant in the heart of Manchester. Visited at 8pm on a Thursday night without reservations and had a 2 minute wait before a table was available. Fast service from polite waiters. Great menu with delicious food. 5/5 stars.
D. B. P.
Comfortable smart Indian restaurant. Good welcome at the door.
Standard Bengali/ Pakistani type dishes.
A very limited vegetarian choice.
Beer is ok. Clean glass and pipes. Well maintained.
Most importantly I asked and emphasised for extra spice and the request was followed.
Overall a good clean restaurant. Good service. Fair prices for the location.
v. s.
Very nice decor, we all liked it. Parking is plenty at the Q park Piazza just next door. The pedestrian exit from the parking lot opens up just opposite the restaurant which was convenient. Walkable distance to the Manchester Central library and nearby tram station.
We just landed just after noon and ended up having the lunch buffet, which was reasonably priced at £9.99. All the items tasted freshly cooked and good taste and texture. The meat was good. The salads were fresh too and nice. Raita was nice and thick. Fresh Papaddom and it didn't taste of stale oil like at many buffet places. The only thing I didn't have at the buffet was the naan. Pulao rice was nice and fresh and not dry. Both the chicken curries (jalfrezi chicken, butter chicken) and lamb curry (ALU ghosth), Dal Makhni, veg curry, tasted good. Very good value for money and tasty too. The starters were nice too. 4 types of sauces, pickles, mint raita, veg spring rolls, onion Bhaji, fries, chicken tikka, few salads. Dessert is extra but just £1 from lot of choice at the desert station. We had gulab jamun and rasmalai both of which were good, although would have preferred the rasmalai ras to be a little sweeter. Drinks menu seemed fine but we just had some soft drinks and water. I would gladly go again if I was in the area.
Friendly and helpful staff. The owner seems to own several restaurants and certainly seems to know his stuff but he seemed to be literally barking at the staff like a drill sergeant but they still kept smiling at the customers and did their job perfectly. The was no need to be talking to the staff like that. There were hardly any customers and the staff were working well. It was uncomfortable to watch him treat them like that. I wanted to say something to him that the staff were working well but didn't want him to sort at them more so kept quiet. But putting my comments here so that the owner sees them and corrects his behaviour to his staff who seemed to be doing a good job and cheerful to customers even after hearing am earful from the owner.
I have seen other reviews about the owner behaving similarly with staff on other occasions too. Perhaps he needs to cool down. The staff seem good. There needs to be a nice working atmosphere for employees. I am just rating the food and service by the staff and decor. If I had rated the owner I would have dropped down to 4* instead.
G. A.
The food here is always delicious and the drinks are always great. The staff are very friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Hossain always recognises us and checks everything is just right for us. We highly recommend this restaurant, give it a try if you haven't been before, you'll like it and keep going back, like we do.
J.
Beautiful! Best curry I've had for a long, long time
J. R.
Really great meal at sangam. Very recommended. Staff were very thorough could do enough to make sure everything was great.
J. K.
Superb place.
A real mix of traditional meals and sides along with some unusual ones too.
Excellent flavours, swift service at a reasonable price.
P. M.
Been here several times in the past, pre-Covid. The prices now are astronomical. Very disappointed. Food and service good though, as it always was.
J. D.
Tasty food, good service. Enjoyed our evening.Lovely surroundings in the centre of town which was unfortunately very quiet due to current restrictions. Sangam seemed to have very covid secure measures, so give them a try!
D.
Lunchtime buffet excellent. Great food great price. Nice selection, beautifully cooked. Liked it so much that i tried it in the evening. A mistake:- It was a la carte only. Small portions, overcooked/ dried up lamb chops tasted like cardboard and were expensive. Poor unsatisfying meal. I was also very embarrassed as I took an indian friend as my guest after telling him it was the best Indian food in Manchester- he must have thought I was an idiot- but being Indian he was far too polite to tell me! . Would return any lunchtime to their All you can eat buffet, and still enjoy it, but in the evenings its like a completely different venue so will not return in the evenings.
R. D.
Excellent buffet at lunchtime with delicious verities for a great price. Perfect for a quick lunch during a busy day. My only complaint was the absence of any sweet options but overall I really enjoy eating there.
M. B.
good ambience, excellent service and the food served was all I could have wished for. I was greeted correctly and showed to a well chosen place to sit. the music is pleasant more upbeat Indian. the decor, lighting and air temperature were for me perfect.
I ate from the à la carte menu. buffets as always are the work of the devil...
I would have no problems recommending here. I was on a short business trip to Manchester and that evening I ate alone.
G. C.
Myself & husband had a lovely evening at this resturant we were looked after by raj who was very helpful and made our evening thank you so much x
V. Y.
Good indian food with wonderful service.
S. L.
Been here for few times, food is delicious. I visited recently coz I bought a two course meal coupon on Groupon and it was really a bargain. However when I arrived their manager told me their contract with Groupon finished days ago, don't know why they still selling the coupon coz Sangam won't get the money. The manager offered to serve us the two course meal anyway, saying he'll sort it out and we don't have to worry. It was again a nice dining experience, waiters were all respectful without judging me coz I came with an "invalid" coupon. definitely recommend.
A. s.
Great indian diner out here in Manchester. Enjoyed a great evening. Hospitality and service by Deepak and Raj was heartwarming and perfect.
A. A.
Warm welcome. We hadn't booked. My veggie friend needed to ask for salt. Food was nice rather than wonderful.
The draught beer wasn't cold and a bit flat. Reasonable prices
S. S.
Great atmosphere. Staff fantastic and really friendly.
A.
I love the buffet in Swadesh, it makes it easy to just come in and have what you want with no fuss. It looks great in there, with lots of comfortable sofas. In addition, the food selection is always hot and tasty.
The service is somewhat lacking, the staff generally seem reluctant to help. It may just be me, but it's a vibe I always get whenever I go in. They're not rude or unhelpful or anything, it's just an attitude. On the bright side, it's not too expensive. It's a good option if you love Indian food and don't fancy a trip down the Curry Mile
R. M.
We eat here at least twice a month.
If you go for the buffet you can expect fresh food being put out constantly, we have even seen it topped up 10 minutes before it closes.
In the evening the staff are attentive, friendly and the food is always superb. Unlike some places the food quality doesn't drop when its packed.
R. C.
Food and service excellent, called with my Wife and Granddaughter and the could not have been any more friendly.
Will be making it a regular when in Manchester.
L. L.
First visit, very nice. We did go in to enjoy buffet but we went near the end of service which was evident in the beymaries, rice running out and Curry's not so hot, this didn't take away the fact it was very good food. Definitely telling family and friends of the his venue and we will retu n but better timing next time. Thanks for a nice lunch everyone.
E. D.
Came from london for night had a fantastic meal staff so friendly especially uncle took pictures for us n smiled whole time would recommend
I. H.
Friendly staff, very quick service and the food was amazing. Definetly recommend!
S. A.
A very well presented establishment.
Good service
The food was well cooked and presented.
The only issue is had,and it's pretty much as with most restaurants these days is the lettering and colour of the menu's when combined with low lighting it makes reading difficult.
But that said I would say that anyone visiting the Swedish would be extremely delighted .
a. c.
First chance to visit since covid... Brilliant same high quality food and warm welcome and great service
C. B.
Stunning food and great atmosphere, was impressed with the outdoor terrace too. Can't wait to return!
w. w.
I'm working in Manchester for a few days so I decided to pop in to Swadesh for a meal this evening. Amazing is the best word I can use. The Chicken Tikka is the best I've had and the Chicken Jalfrezi is loaded with flavour. Amazing, polite staff and great value for money. I also noticed a 5 star food hygiene rating on the door. Next time I'm working in Manchester I'll be dining here.
f. g.
Good food and nicely prepared. A smallish menu but good options. I had veg curry and very tasty. Seemed very busy on Thursday but that could be due to the cricket match. I would visit again.
J. G.
I have been there per recommendation of the hotel staff and it is great food!
I am not Indian, so I think that the spice was OK (could be more spicier to me, as I like hot food).
Servings have a good size and they are not expensive as other restaurants I have been here in the UK.
I would definitely go back there.
A. C.
Not a bad place but plenty of room for improvement, from when you walk in through the door you experience issues. Entire place is empty or there are many seats available yet it takes you 5 or so minutes before you can eventually sit down.
When you do sit down and you are ordering starters the quality varies. One day you can go in and they are perfect, the next they are covered in oil or even worse you are waiting for them to arrive and your mains appear!!!
म. ज. (. J.
Location wise this restaurant is very good, staff is very friendly, restaurant size is also good.
I am more concern about food, in the menu there are so many things. I have ordered few stuff for us but food quality and test was not according standard.
C. T.
Food and service was amazing. the bill was also less than we thought it would be which is always nice.
L. H.
Didn't go for the buffet but the a la carte menu was great. Really tasty dishes and good sizes. We went with a big group and the staff were very helpful. They even do some special offers on drinks at certain times.
J. A.
A good place to eat, nice ambience, & an amazing food, I love it💛💛

Brilliant wait staff and manager. One of the wait staff was a Bangladeshi lad and he was very curteous and attentive. Wish I remembered his name but shout out to him. Made my friend and I first visit awesome.

Been here late night just before shutting down and the staff were welcoming. The ambience was really nice and the setupwas good and engaging.
The options are really nice but the problem is they are overpriced, although the food was good it is nothing different from other indian restaurents and I am not sure why the costs are too high and the 1k1

We had our lunch and dinner on the same day.
Lunch, we chose the buffet option (£9.9)
Veg Starters - Onion Bhajji, Samosa
Non Veg Starters - Mutton Sheekh Kabab
For Main Course - Pulav Rice
2 Veg Curries and 3 Non Veg Curries.
Starters were good and Curries were fine.
Then Dinner - We had Chicken Biriyani, Veg Biriyani and Naans. Veg Biriyani and Naan were good. In Chicken Biriyani the Chicken pieces were hard. Other than that we liked the food. Ambience was good.

I had lamb rezala. I wasn't that impressed with the sauce but it wasn't the right dish for me. Lamb was nice. Everything else was good. I find there's a lack of dishes in the UK with both protein and vegetables.

My wife and I went for dinner before going to the theatre. The restaurant is very nicely decorative and has a relaxing atmosphere.
When giving our food order, we adked if there was egg in my wife's main meal. The waiter said definitely not and she could have it. When he brought the starter, he told us that he had also checked for eggs and that was safe for her to eat.
This means a lot to us as some waiters are not as helpful or cannot be bothered to check and just say " I don't think so" in a non plus voice.
The meal was lovely and very enjoyable knowing my wife would be ok. Well worth recomending.

I’ve come here several times now, the food is consistently good and the service friendly and attentive. My fave is the jalali- it is really hot and punishing the next day but to hell with it. Yes there are more interesting menus around here, but I still come back when I can’t be bothered to go to the other places.

Food was some the best I have ever eaten. I always look for curry on my travels through life, been to India and tried many a dish, and this was up there with the best. However the reason was not 5 stars was the service. I dont want to be told how and when I want my poppodom. If I want them as a desert with ice cream on then that's how I want them. Just felt there was a little arrogance. However do not let this put you off. It is after all about the food so build up an appetite and go for it. Will without doubt hit this place up again when next in Manchester. But I will have my Popodoms how I want them 😋

Great food, great atmosphere, beautiful decor and excellent service. Looking forward to my next visit

Excellent, varied menu. Many unusual dishes. Really good food and pleasant service. Highly recommend.

Indian buffet on Portland Street which has a nice welcoming interior. The food is good to with a great selection at a reasonable price. If you're in Manchester and looking for a place to eat I would definitely recommend Swadesh!
A. M.
We went to Swadesh's lunch buffet in attempt to find a good Indian buffet. There was variety, but nothing was amazing. Most of the food was good, but we've decided we wouldn't do the buffet again. We may try again for an evening meal, but never the buffet.

Lovely food great staff good prices ..... would go back next time I'm in Manchester

Excellent customer service, food was really nice as well. Overall great experience
M. H.
We have just finished eating our meal and WOW! Their saffron rice was fragrant flavourful and the perfect medium to soak up the saag chana and the dal makahni. We order too much but look forward to having this for tomorrow's lunch as we continue on our travels. So so good.

Excellant and pocket friendly indian buffet available @11.9 pounds. Awsome hospitality and wonderful ambience
D. B.
Fresh, tasty food.
Lovely decor.
Fantastic service and very welcoming.
Was disappointed with the pickle tray, though.

Very good hospitality by Mr.Raj and the whole sangam team. As an indian I can testify that the food is good!
Will definitely recommend it.
Cheers
V. A.
Amazing experience, very friendly environment and delicious food.

I've been here a couple of times. The food is ok and the service is ok. To be honest if you want a good curry, then hop on the bus to Rusholm and the curry mile, spending that quid and the extra 20minutes will get you a better curry but in the city centre this is probably the best Indian restaurant.
L. S. (.
Right across the road from my office, I've been a couple of times for the Indian lunchtime buffet.
Even with China Town around the corner, Swadesh is the place to go for "all you can eat".
The range of curries, sundries and rice on offer for £6.90 is spot on.
They also have happy hours and take outs!
M. H.
friendly staff and tasty food! Would rather listen to some traditional Indian music rather the chart music, however overall would definitely recommend
G. S.
Excellent staff and warm welcome when we arrived. Food lovely and competitively priced. All staff were great! Highly recommend a visit.
A. M.
I was brought in by the smell. Superb decore, comfortable, vibrant, retro funky Bollywood look, great detail put in, food was great, tasty, spicy, soft and cooked well, great 90s Bollywood music. Lovely.
M. A. R.
I had dinner on Valentine's Day evening. Very welcoming atmosphere in respect of friendly staff member from reception to table and all the way through your dining experience. I have tried quite a lot on Indian restaurant throughout UK but SWADES sets the bar bit higher and undoubtedly it was the best so far!! Personal recommendation would be CHICKEN JALFREZI! And it won't complete your dinning experience if you don't try MANGO LASI👍
A. C.
The last time I ate in Swadesh must have been over 2-3yrs ago but it has always stuck in my mind as the best Indian food I've eaten in the UK.
I hope that it's still as good as I remember it and would definitely be going back when I'm next in Manchester
G. P.
Friendly atmosphere, good food, quick service
V. S.
We chooses buffet and Starter is good having multiple options. For vegetarians not much in buffet. Overall you will enjoy with your family. Staff is good and cooperative.
J. P.
Amazing curry, best I've had in Manchester. Staff are so friendly and very accommodating, made us all feel welcome, I will 100% recommend this place to anybody and will definitely be returning some time in the future

A Good indian restaurant in Greater Manchester. Sunday lunch buffet was good if you add some dessert in there that would be perfect. Food is spiced well. Worth paying a visit.
S. H.
Amazing food! I had the fish tikka starter and garlic and chilli venison, both were fantastic and I will definitely be returning again

Swadesh It is located in a huge Tudor house fronted by a courtyard that was lit by little white lights when I arrived with a friend on a Monday evening. We were seated in a dining room that had cream walls and cream upholstery offset by dark, expensive-looking wood. The pictures of Indian landmarks were beautiful.
My friends starter machli anarkali was deep fried, spiced tilapia fillets; hot, fresh and moist within their gram flour batter. The accompanying salad was brightened with red beads of pomegranate seeds. A dish of mint chutney was on the side.
I preferred my anjeeri gosht kebab. Sturdy chunks of lamb; no meat juice, no sauce, yet moist and tender with a perfect texture. It was the kind of dish that quickened the heart-rate and made you feel like you'd done something clever by ordering it. It came with a similar salad to the machli anarkali and the same mint chutney; the pairing with lamb a concession to English tradition rather than Indian, perhaps.
Our mains were enjoyable but showed less flair. My friend had the chef's special which was a curry of chicken on the bone. My punjabi machali masala was a fish curry made from a home-made recipe using turmeric, ground cumin, ground coriander, tamarind, red chili and fresh coriander. The fish was tender though rather lost amidst all those spices. We also ordered a vegetable dish: baghara baigan, baby aubergines, sliced length-ways into a fan shape and cooked almost to a paste in a cooling coconut sauce.
The high expectations raised by the starters weren't fully met by the mains, the desserts certainly made up for it. I scanned the menu for something that looked like it hadn't been made entirely from milk and settled on rasgulla, which if I remember rightly, was described as 'stuffed cottage cheese.'
I couldn't imagine what it might look like, and may not have ordered it if I had. Three white, boiled egg-like pods, a swirl of hundreds and thousands, a scattering of almonds and two thick slices of orange. When gently pressed with a fork, the pods secreted clear, syrupy liquid. My friend pronounced it 'insane' but I prefer 'intriguing'. The appearance may have been bonkers but the taste made a lot of sense: the pods were light, sweet and delicate enough to take on the taste of the orange. Very good indeed.
My friends tandoori ananas was another success. Pineapple marinated with honey and saffron served with coconut ice cream, it also came with a retro sprinkling of hundreds and thousands. The spiced pineapple was perfectly sized and perfectly charred. Coconut ice cream is delicious whatever you do with it.

C. R.
Great food and atmosphere!
C. M.
Not bad been better places very nice looking inside. Curry was amazing and there wasn't alot of choice. I put 3 because the staff wasn't very friendly and wasn't helpful at all.
S. P. (.
Have only tried the buffet lunch which could do with a bit more variety to be honest. Food is nice, drinks are pricey. Just a bit lacking on a nice massalla at lunchtime.
L. C.
Very nice athmosphere and good price-value experience. The waiters were very attentive and friendly. The food was very nice as well. I will certainly return here.
K. M.
Quality food. Beautiful lamb dishes.. Great night out

Food was really good, amazing place to go
M. D.
Tried buffet. It was average.
A. B.
Social distancing and staff not wearing masks is a problem here. Food ok but nothing special.
R. S.
Authentic Indian food. The taste is ok. The staff is helpful but always busy. It takes a lot of time to get someone's attention.
J. L.
Excellent food and very friendly service. Would highly recommend.
M. S.
Excellent food, excellent service but a bit pricey... 10% "optional" service charge added to the bill is a bit cheeky.
A. P.
Change of name but still Swadesh. Excellent new menu with some great new dishes. Garlic Chilli Venison can be particularly recommended.
C. H.
Excellent value for money. A group of us had the lunch time buffet. The food was delicious and there was plenty of choice.

Thank you to the Sangam team Manchester City Centre
Great service and great food 👍
Will definitely be coming again. Worth the drive from Birmingham
T. D.
If you're in the mood for an all you can eat Indian buffet lunch you can't beat it. It's not in the same league as some of the other well known city centre Indian restaurants if you're wanting an evening meal though.
A. Z.
Best indian restaurant in Manchester

Very nice food and very pleasant service. Will definately visit again.

Great Indian that is part of the Tastecard group so I think it's 2 for 1 on mains which is always pleasant. Apparently they do good buffet lunches too,
M. S.
Very much enjoyed my meal here. Generous portion sizes and nice and spicy how I like it.
A.
Excellent food but included a service charge for 2 people. This was marked as optional but suggesting a tip amount isn't on in my opinion.
m. g.
