We went to this restaurant for a team dinner during our sales meeting in Manchester.We had a fabulous & memorable experience while dining with colleagues. Had wine, good food and lots of fun times chatting and enjoying our meals

Great location, the restaurant itself is nicely decorated with a modern, relaxing yet classy vibe. I had been before around 4 years ago and I enjoyed it back then. Food is not cheap but it’s of high quality so it’s worth every penny. We had a 1.2kg tomahawk asked for medium rare, as you can see by the picture below it was cooked to perfection! It melted in the mouth and was seasoned perfectly, very impressed. Even better we saw the waiter take it from the meat fridge and pass it to the chef so we saw it from start to finish which made you see the quality. Staff were nice but nothing special, not too engaging which was a shame I think it would have been a better experience had we got a waiter with character as it adds to the evening. We were lucky enough to also have a 40% members discount so the whole bill came to £70 which at that price for the quality is an absolute steal! A bargain! Overall impressive food and an enjoyable evening, if it had a bit more personality it would have gotten 5.

Have been visiting this restaurant on New Years Eve without a reservation as I wanted to have a good steak and it was top rated. I have tried their Blackhouse ribeye steak a try: very good and exactly at the requested cooking stage ( medium rare ). The cheesecake as desert was very tempting so I had to give it a try as well - it was very delicious. Staff has been very attentive and friendly. One star deduction as I consider 2.95 GBP additionally for a sauce too much - and the desert should rather be priced at 5-6 GBP. The other prices were just fine.

The Restaurant is ok but I have to say the steak is just ok, not too amazing. You can find my photo the long bone steak. It was 1.2 kg and it did have a huge huge bone. I think more than 500g was the bone. The meat is also burnt as it tastes bitter. Environment was good but I don't think I will come again. Nothing too impressive.

A classy but down to earth atmosphere with food to die for. I can only comment on the steak, but we had three different cuts and a lobster between us and couldn't fault it. Drinks reasonably priced and for the quality z so was the food. Be prepared to spend around £50 pp. Staff were very friendly apart from the Maitre D. Seemed very stern and the staff were notably exhausted with them. A slight tarnish on a fabulous meal.

Fantastic food!! Me and my partner both had the Ribeye and I used to manage a miller and Carter stake house and that was the best ribeye I have ever eaten........ The only downside to the meal was our waiter was extremely casual to the point I thought he was going to join us at the table and the music was so loud we was shouting at each other apart from that I would deffo recommend a visit.

What a lovely evening, extremely busy restaurant due to football being on in the City, night before mother's day and a large party group who we were told turned up 45minutes late. The management & staff dealt with the situation perfectly under extreme pressure they made us feel really welcome and the food is beautiful. I felt a little over dressed in a suit but I would definitely return a little more relaxed in future. One of the nicest meals I've experienced definitely in my top 10 places to eat in Manchester.

We love the Chatau Briant the Blackhouse is presenting every time we are coming. This time Rebecca was serving us and we had a blast. She was giving us some ideas how to enjoy the moment in the Restaurant even better. The water we were recommended tasted very nice (yes water can have a taste) as it was from the Water Aid project, an ethical mineral water produced in the U.K. - we will come back, for sure.

I visited here with my girlfriend for a last minute celebratory meal. We weren't disappointed. We had a little wait to be seated, but considering we hadn't booked this was more than acceptable. The food, drink and service were perfect. My girlfriend has food intolerances and it was the first thing we were asked about once seated. A special menu detailing what was in each meal was brought to us. This was also supplied without asking for the dessert menu. An all round great experience and we'll be back again.

Can an American find a decent steak outside of the United States? YOU BET! Let's start with the atmosphere. Clean, unique, twist of classic and modern decor, music at a level you can hear, but not too loud you can't talk over it, and best of all, not too bright l, but you can still see your food. The service was among the best out there. I went with a large party and if the waitress got into the weeds, which is natural, another staff member checked on things, and the manager (possibly owner) was effectively between the dining hall, bar and kitchen, managing his employees, guests and proving to be a master at his craft. The food. I swore I wouldnt eat the tray of olives, and I aided in demolishing them. The sourdough bread was perfect and the selection of drinks was large enough wonder if I could get something better than what I was already enjoying. The food was awesome. The aged steak was perfectly cooked to medium and the meat was seasoned to the same standard. I had no complaints at all and will return for one more meal before I depart.

Steak was good, lovely peppercorn sauce and chips to accompany. Greens were also very nice and fresh. Crumble was lovely, though not quite warm all the way through sadly. That's my only drawback. Been here tonight as well as a few weeks ago. Very busy but food was served quickly, the staff were very attentive and friendly. I had the chicken skewers and house burger, both cooked perfectly. The Mrs had garlic mushrooms and a sirloin steak, again cooked to perfection. Definitely worth another visit.

Black house know how to do it! This one and many in their stable. It's an easy atmosphere with great seating and decor come winter or summer with a reliable and great menu. The manager and staff always on hand and nothing too much to offer. For 4 of is with varied tastes, we had steak, fish, fajitas and all great. Good wine and beers to hand. It's right in the heart of the City of Manchester. A definite go to!

Possibly the nicest meal I have ever had! Me and my other half had the tomahawk sharing steak and it was cooked and seasoned absolutely beautifully, couldn’t fault one bit! Even the onion rings were absolutely divine. All the staff were attentive and polite. The restaurant has a lovely chilled out yet chic vibe, perfect for a date night like ourselves! The place looked and felt welcoming. We phoned and booked on the same day about 3 hours before going for the meal and there was space to sit us. When we arrived we was welcomed straight away and seated promptly. Our waitress was Holly, who we had good chat with and was very nice. Food was amazing. I myself had steak and the Mrs had steak sandwich, both were amazing. Will return again if it comes to it. 1 star knocked of as the bill comes with £1 added to the bill. Now don't get me wrong I don't mind paying for it but don't just add it on hoping people will feel bad saying they don't want to pay it. It also doesn't give indication to what charity it's for we had to ask Holly who was nice enough to explain. All in all it was fab.

Even though we waited a little while for our food, it felt as though the staff were very eager to get the table back which is a bit off putting. Wow, I never knew this place existed. Food was gorgeous, front of house staff were spot on and made you feel really relaxed. I know my food was nice, but the chap next to me had 3 lamb chops and the smell coming from them made my mouth water even though I was stuffed full. Defo going back there.

I have been here like 1000 times!! I love thos place. On a monday you can get 40% off all you food, apart from alcohol. The quality and service are still there. No difference to coming on an ordinary day paying 100s pounds for a quality steak and wine. It's amazing! Great for meetings, fantastic for dating.

Best tomahawk stake in town and excellent service. Been using this restaurant for 10 years for my steak fix though sometimes the steak is overdone they always fix it quickly. But they never over do the larger steaks which is also my favourite cut. The hostess tonight was also excellent best host ive witnessed in a restaurant to date. Look forward to my next visit

Busy busy busy. This is quite a experience. My daughter and grandson took me out for a birthday treat. We have sneak and drinks, and sat chatting, for about two and a quarter hours. And the place was busy all the time. Service was very good, the food was really good and the ambiance was great. I thoroughly enjoyed myself, and hope to repeat at a later date. Rather pricey, I think, but well worth it.

I have walked past this place loads. I finally went in and had a great time. I was surprised at how quiet it was for a Friday afternoon. We sat outside and enjoyed a nice table. Drinks were great, staff were super friendly and I had a great time. Lovely inside too.

Had the Sunday roast (beef). Good size portions, tasty potatoes and friendly service. Yorkshire pudding was burnt but was replaced. Some bits of the beef were a bit chewy but was mostly very tasty. Could have been a bit hotter but was fine. My friend's steak was very good though.

In the search for the perfect Steak, I found myself here, and tucking into a huge steak. (1KG) However the pricing is very high end which I feel lets it down a little, many other places I've been to with lower price points do an equally good steak so the price doesnt seem to align well with the quality level. But quantity is good. Great for a wider selection of meats than you would normally find in cheaper places however.

This place had me at first bite! I came with zero expectations but that one (delicate) chomp had my eyes rolling into the back of their sockets and I must have let out the biggest sigh of pleasure. Weight of my shoulders. All conversations ended (temporarily). It was just me and my gorgeous steak. Sure, the staff were excellent, friendly and helpful. Of course, the cocktails were whispering sweet nothings in my ears. But it was the steak that took my breathe away. I left with two things in mind; firstly, Gaucho is no longer king of steaks in my mind and secondly, I'm terrified to go back in case it was just a one off!! I'm sure I'll be back one day and hopefully I'll be able to update this review with equal measures of tummy happiness! Edit: Funnily enough I took photos of my friend's fajita dish but forgot to take one of my own! Even more reason to go back!

Been going to GONYS for years now and it never disappoints. The calamari, seared tuna and steaks are the best we've ever had whilst it's good to see onion rings back on the menu. The staff are always great and help make the place surprisingly kid friendly.

Such a strange situation. Booked for the Christmas meal with a discount Using the online booking system. Had to pay a £15 deposit per person yet once we arrived they told us that we couldn’t use the discount on the Christmas menu (which wasn’t stated anywhere upon booking) Then we were told that a lot of the items were sold out for the evening (including onion rings 🤣) The best part was we were told that we could ONLY eat from the Christmas menu if our ENTIRE party ate from the same menu! Just makes no sense to me why you’re only allowed to order from the same menu your entire party wanted to order from. Unluckily for us, one of our party couldn’t eat from the Christmas menu so we had to make do with the normal day to day menu Luckily the food was great. Just not what I wanted If this was stated upon booking, I would never have booked here as I booked specifically for the Christmas meal However, I gave three stars as we got the discount and the food was great. Would just prefer better communication prior to our arrival

Visited on Thursday the 6th of December on route to a show at the M.E.N. Even though we hadn't booked and the place was busy with Christmas parties they managed to find a place for the 2 of us. The food was amazing and the service just as amazing. Will definitely be visiting the restaurant next time we're in Manchester and will be recommending it to friends and family who visit Manchester.

Nicely cooked steaks at a reasonable price. Good variety of cuts and side options. There is a butcher's block that you can cut to the size that you want. The style of the steak varies with this one but that is part of its attraction. The Galecian rump is ridiculously good. It melts in your mouth like a wagyu steak, but in my opinion has much more flavour. The sides are also solid and they are not too big. Beers, spirits, wine are also good and the cocktails are very solid too.

With steaks sourced around the country only the best produce is used and you can tell with the taste. Cooked to perfection anyway you ask for it Grill on NY St is a great place to go with a partner or even as somewhere to start the night. Be sure to check the website and book online for reductions on your bill.

It was ok. No bread available for steak sandwich during lunchtime on Monday. Bit pricy for two burgers. Don't ask for the add-on of bacon @ £1.50 per slice. It mostly consists of fat, not sure why a Chef would place it on the pass to be served.

I've been to the Glasgow sister restaurant and loved it, so with the parents visiting (and paying) we decided to try out the Manchester version on New York Street. As a happy coincidence during January they offer 50% off of your total food (which does exclude a few items like Wagyu steak and oysters). We opted for Rump, Fillet and chicken Fajitas, all of which were delicious and cooked to perfection. I only have two rather small complaints, the portion of french beans that we ordered was exceptionally small, i'm pretty sure there were only 10 of them, and at £3.00 that 30p a bean! Secondly, they were sold out of T-bone steak, which at 7.30 on a Tuesday seems quite unbelievable, however this could be in part due to their 50% off promotion. However, it was a great meal, in a lovely relaxed atmosphere with a brilliant range of cocktails.

Don't know if we caught a bad day, but good front of house let down badly by the kitchen. Had to send my ribeye back, it was overcooked and awful. I added the prawns, crayfish and scollops, really disappointing and the second replacement steak was nothing to write home about. My partner had to eat her food while I waited on a replacement. 20% deduction ofset with a tip for the waiting staff, really expected more from a steakhouse grill. Missed the film we were going to see after lunch too. Sorry, but really can't recommend this place based on my experiences on Sunday.

I have only ever been to The Grill on New York Street since being supplied with a Blackhouse card. The card is fantastic and on NY Street you can always book with at least 40% off your meal. The restaurant is kept in pristine condition and the staff always know the menu in detail to assist with your choice. I would highly recommend the 'Best of British' steaks to try out as they are carefully chosen to offer you something different to your typical steak.

The food was lovely. Piri Piri Calimari followed by a rump steak. My friend had a rare ribeye steak and had to ask for it cooked a bit more as it was raw in places. This was done with no problem, they brought a full new steak and chips. The only downside was how cold it was. The chef here however does not know what 'hot' food is. My son brought me here for Mothers Day and we had the roast chicken dinner. We sent it back because it wasn't hot.
