This was a brilliant experience. There were 7 of us and we walked in at 5:45. Despite only having 90 minutes due to a booking at 7 there was very quick and excellent service. The food was top quality and fair prices to reflect. The egg fried rice was beautifully cooked and every main we ordered was similarly delicious. Would definitely recommend to anyone and will go again very soon.

Once you will cross the door to the restaurant you are lost and I mean it. I have nothing really to complain about. The atmosphere just beautiful, relaxing music on the spot, food I will say not the best one but fresh, tasty and I ate everything 😋. About service I will say the best one I've ever had in my entire life I was just amazed how smooth and organised they are, big big big thanks for your good job. You will get something on the house in the beginning and in the end of your 'journey' at the restaurant but hey... I will keep it as a secret 🤫

Delicious chinese restaurant not too far from city centre. Staff was incredibly friendly and accommodating given our large group and no reservation. Food was great and each dish tasted wonderfully unique. Would highly recommend if looking to splash out on a great dinner.

Not taking bookings for two people is a little weird. We don't want to risk it and turn up. Was a busy night, service slow but not unbearably. Felt a little rushed at times. Drinks list extensive but not particularly good quality wines for the pricing. Starters very good. Fresh, hot and fast. Mains very very salty but cooked well and good quality ingredients. Everything seemed either way too sweet or way too salty. Not proper Chinese. Pleasant enough. But not amazing

This must be one of the best Chinese restaurants in Manchester. We had the set menu buffet...... absolutely stuffed. Everything was tasty and cooked to perfection. Quick service and Staff really friendly and welcoming. We'll definitely be going back.

Brilliant service. We had no reservation and went in to ask if they could provide us with a table for 7. They had one available but told us that we could only be there for an hour and fifteen minutes as another party had reserved it. Service was quick and food was delicious as well as at a good price for the portions. It's definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants that I've been too. Decor was also very high quality and restaurant was in a very cool place. Will definitely be returning but hopefully for a longer visit

Amazing veggie options, friendly and attentive staff with authentic menu. Slightly overpriced but understandable with city centre location. Decor was lovely and very clean, spacious restaurant and great lazy susans for bigger parties. Bathrooms were cramped, dated and not the cleanest. I feel these need a little upgrade/ spruce up!

A close friend took me here and we had the crispy duck/ fish / egg fried rice and dim sum platter. The décor in this restaurant is beautiful, feels like you are in China (probably Song or Tang Dynasty), they are on low staffing level but the service is still good, food is a bit salty to me but I think overall is a good place to try something different 😋

Chinese food made and served properly. We came in on a busy Sat evening when Champion League was on, but were given a table for 5 for just the three of us (without reservation) so we were very grateful. Plates came warm. Very accommodating for families - they gladly served veggies steamed and plain, instead of fried, at my request for my baby and even offered to chop it smaller so my baby could handle it better. Portions match the price, considering this is central Manchester I think it’s very reasonably priced.

I visit Rice Bowl regularly. The food has always been excellent and I rave to friends about it. Sadly tonight the service was poor/slow and verging on rude, the portions were noticeably smaller than usual and the meal took just shy of an hour to arrive when the restaurant was only half full. I’m leaving this review in the hope that the restaurant take notice, as it takes a lot for me to say bad things of this restaurant.

Amazing vegetarian choices, you don't feel like you're missing out on a full Chinese spread! We had the vegetarian banquet with assorted dim sum, mock duck pancakes, then mains of sizzling mock chicken and stir fried bean curd with egg fried rice. The food was fresh, delicious, and really good value for money. The service was friendly and quick too.

Awesome!! Bit pricey but worth it. One of the best Chinese restaurants in the town. Totally recommend the aromatic duck. Be aware that is very popular and it might be very busy. Unfortunately they don't book tables so allow yourself some time for waiting

Shared a delicious takeaway meal with my boyfriend this evening. We walked and picked up our order, promptly by friendly staff. After our walk home it was amazing to find that the food had been wrapped in foil and was still very hot! I am super impressed as I thought I would be cold. Came here late (10:30) on a Tues evening and was almost empty. The staff were friendly, got my drinks immediately. Food took a reassuringly long time to come out, suggesting it wasn't simply being warmed, but cooked fresh. When it did come out, it was amazing! We have eaten here on several occasions and always had a lovely meal. We usually eat mid afternoon so we don't need to book. We nearly didn't go on New year's eve 2021 because of the latest hygiene rating, a 2 but, we are glad we did because we had a fabulous meal, yet again. I'm sure it was just a blip. My partner and I had a great time at The Rice Bowl Chinese restaurant in Manchester. A great spot for lunch, but due to its location in the basement, it isn’t accessible for persons using a wheelchair or those who have difficulties climbing steep staircases. So be cautious. The food was deliciously beautiful and prompt. Service was pretty good but ambiance was a little suffocating due to the lack of windows and ventilation, although there was still sufficient fresh air. The toilets could be a little bit cleaner for better hygiene. Decently priced main courses. £10-16 1. Sizzling black bean chicken 2. Sizzling beef with Teriyaki Sauce 3. Fried Kale Seaweed (Recommend)

Read the reviews and decided to visit with my girlfriend.as a alternative Chinese outside of Chinatown. Overall, the food was good and my girlfriend's seafood dish was great, big scallops and prawns, delicious. However, my hotpot was too salty, unfortunately to much seasoning left the dish tasting of.nothing more than the sauces that went into the dish. Starters.of Hau Gows were also good but nothing special, and the choice of dim.sum dishes.are.limited. overall 1 standout dish is a bit disappointing!

Downside, the added 10% service charge added to the bill, service was good but it should be optional to tip in our view. It's likely the business is taking this as additional revenue rather than staff getting their fair share.

Lock down takeaway I’ve been ordering takeaways during lockdown. I’m a big fan and have been eating here for many years. Takeaway food is beautifully packed and still piping hot when I get back home. Don’t order via the “apps” as the drivers couldn’t give a dam about how your food arrives. Collect if you can you are then guaranteed your food will be just as it’s served when times are normal. What a tremendous restaurant this is; its a must if Oriental cuisine is on your agenda. There was 10 people for late lunch, they seated us altogether without a fuss. Been our 'go to Chinese' for over 10 years and has never disappointed. The quality shines through and always leave having throughly enjoyed our meal. Got invited for a quick lunch here. Ordered the beef dish. Wow the meat was cooked to perfection. It melted in my mouth. No chewing required. Service is very fast. Another happy customer. I found this place online and after reading the reviews I thought, let’s give a try! It was honestly delicious, the sweet and chilli sauce is lovely, not too sweet and you can actually taste the chilli. The service was up to top, nice beef chilli and garlic pepper chicken was great. Our bill came out to be £82. That was for 2 mains, 2 starters, rice and noddles plus 5 beers and the 10% service charge. It was expensive but I would definitely come back. If you don’t drink or eat as much me and partner then it would be a lot cheaper LOL.

The best Chinese food I've had in Manchester and I've eaten at quite a few restaurants around the City. Table was booked at really short notice on a busy Friday evening, restaurant seemed totally full on arrival but we were quickly seated. Staff were very attentive and super efficient, food came to the table quickly and without fuss. Can highly recommend the crispy duck and pancakes as a starter, totally delicious, for my main I had Sweet and sour chicken with rice and its an absolute winner. If you're looking for quality Chinese food then this place is for you. Would have no hesitation in returning here again. Highly recommended. Solid 5 stars.

I'd not been here for about 20 years when my sister suggested lunch. The lunch menu was great, very tasty and value for money with efficient service. Plenty of veggie options (several dishes with tofu or gluten) and they were happy to do the fried rice without egg too. I've been a few times recently and found that the food is better at lunch than at dinner (it wasn't bad at dinner just not as good as lunch). I'll definitely be going again soon.

My favourite Chinese restaurant in Manchester. I liked the look of the restaurant, the tables are very nice and everything is very clean. Food was delicious. I ordered the fried tofu with vegetables in black bean sauce and it was nicely cooked. (it came in hot plates, which is getting rarer nowadays). I do not think they used MSGs in my dish, neither for the boiled rice. Very good point.

My girlfriend and I eat a fair bit of Chinese and have been to a lot of places over the years. This is by far our favourite! The staff are awesome, very attentive and friendly. The cosy basement eating area is very tastefully decorated and generates an excellent atmosphere for any occasion (posh but not too posh!). The food is the cherry on the cake... very very yum! Portion sizes are quite large so may be worth sharing a starter and a side with your main after (between two). Not cheap, not expensive. Well worth it! Going back soon. Definitely!

Called in for lunch out of the rain! It was very good, short menu but for the price it was fine the staff were all very helpful and the service was good. Two courses, I had soup and Crispy chilli beef but all the extras like the prawn crackers and the fruit to finsh were there. I love this place. It's the go to place when I am on a date or on a works gathering. The food is delicious and the atmosphere is good 9/10. The things that can let it down sometimes is when the place is virtually empty and they still stick you in a corner somewhere cramped up, or right next to the door that leads into the kitchen so you keep getting knocked by the staff coming in and out and you have to keep ducking out of the way. Also the Thai fish cakes can be hit and miss, but other than that, Spot on

This place is excellent! I had duck hot pot and it came out and place on a flame to sizzle, the most tender duck I've had for many years. Hot and sour soup to die for followed by a quarter crispy duck steamed pancakes with cucumber,spring onions and soy sauce to wrap the duck in.For mains i had crispy chillie beef and my wife had chicken in a black bean sauce, both dishes were melt in the mouth perfection. All washed down with a couple of lagers. We will definitely be returning.

The pitfalls of Chinese food are many but The Rice Bowl seemed to avoid all of them. We were a party of three with big appetites and were left with a very nice (not greasy or MSG laiden) taste in our mouths. Before listing its many successes, I do have to mention the slightly inconsistent service. Dishes were brought over a little slowly and despite explaining that we wanted to share all the mains together, they were brought over seperatley. But aside from the service aspect there is very little else to fault: the Aromatic Duck was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Our three mains, lemon and lime crispy chicken, vegetarian stir fry with cashew nuts and Beef Fillet Teriyaki we're all sublime and polished off. The side soft noodles were also particularly delicious. The prices are perhaps a few quid more expensive than your standard takeaway joint but if you pay for quality here, quality is what you get.
