Wanted to take the folks out for their anniversary dinner. The ambiance, atmosphere and friendliness of the staff topped it off. It was our first visit and the staff recommended we order a mix grill for 2. And so did we. The taste was authentic Persian. We loved our visit there. Totally recommended.

This restaurant is very deceptive from the outside but you must visit it to appreciate the setting and ambience of it. The food also stands up to it's reputation from the reviews online. I couldn't fault anything we ordered. It is very loud on the ground floor when it is busy but the seating downstairs is just as nice and is much quieter which I would probably recommend for you to request to be seated if you are going with your family.

I visited here under the recommendation of a friend, and what an excellent recommendation it was. The place was just buzzing well into the late hours of Saturday evening. The food was delicious. Both the girlfriend and I very much enjoyed our meals. I had chicken wings to start, and they were definitely some of the nicest wings I've ever had. One thing to be aware of; the portions are quite large. Be sure to visit on an empty stomach!

Awesome food, good customer service, but make sure you book beforehand, it's a very busy place. Kebabs we're spot on, lamb Shank was so soft & tender. The Rice was something different, had a unique taste to it. I'll definitely be going again.

I come here all the time and it’s absolutely unreal. Everything I’ve had is brilliant. The 2 aubergine dishes are some of the most delicious things I’ve ever eaten… The potato salad is great… The quality of their grilled meats is amazing and the bread is delicious. A must visit!

i had the barberry lamb shank and it was delicious. lamb was super soft, not gamey tasting at all, and the soup was so flavourful. the rice was great, it came with butter yum, and the berries on rice gave a unique texture. the cardamom tea pot was big, enough to share for 4. the saffron rock sugar for the tea were on sticks. such an enjoyable meal in a place so beautifully decorated. the place has plenty seating in the underground floor, great for big groups :) would recommend

Went there for the 1st time and pleasantly surprised. Food is excellent and we struggled to finish. Warm welcome, friendly and attentive staff, the mixed kebabs were delicious and the saffron rice is an absolute winner. Would recommend.

Nothing special about the food. I feel like they should serve other sauces and not just the standard table sauces (ketchup, chilli) that you get from takeaways. Baklava is stored in the fridge and was microwaved, it was the worst I’ve ever had! Did not like the saffron ice cream at all but maybe that’s just me. For £5 the mint tea jug gives you 10 cups which is great!

This is the best Persian place in Manchester! The service is fabulous, friendly and attentive. The food is superb! And the ambience is authentic. The only negative is the location, but once inside you are transported to fine dining Persian style. The food is delicious as shown in the pics. Always look forward to our next visit.

Food was amazing! I got the chicken & barberry rice (fave) my husband got the mixed grill.. didn't book a table but got a table downstairs & it's very clean, decor is lovely! The ladies serving us were wonderful and friendly upstairs on the bar the man didn't seem to want to speak when my husband was saying how nice the food was just shoved the machines infront of him to pay we still didn't let him put us of and left a tip would recommend as everything else was wonderful!

This place came highly recommended and it didn’t disappoint. It was busy inside and people queuing to take food away. And the majority of the people eating were Persian too which shows how good this place is. Had a hummus starter followed by a mix grill for one. All of it was absolutely amazing and well presented. Walnut was recommended to me by a friend who previously went and quite enjoyed the Lebanese cuisine they offer. The highlight was definitely the kobeda kebab which was very succulent and literally melted in your mouth! The cheesy garlic bread and chicken kebab was also quite nice. The only thing I didn’t really enjoy were the lamb chops which I felt were quite plain and too chewy. Other than that, everything else was quite nice. Will definitely be going back to have the kobeda kebab again!!

Went to Walnut on Wilmslow Road for the first time last night. We was a party of 10 and had a table booked for 8pm. We arrived on time and were seated straightaway. I would advise on booking as even mid week it was packed. If you enjoy good spiced flavours but not spice that burn your mouth than you can’t go wrong with going to Walnut. If you want fiery food than it’s not the place for you. The meat and chicken was juicy and wasn’t over cooked or dry like it is in other places on Wimmy Road. It was just right, flavoursome and succulent. You could taste the freshness. The staff are very welcoming, warm and friendly and the service is excellent. You don’t feel ignored, but you don’t feel hampered either. We didn’t have starters and just had mains and a drink with a couple of side orders and it averages out about £20 -£23 per head, so very reasonably price for a good evening out with good food and great atmosphere. Been to a few Persian restaurants previously and this one wins hands down.

DESERVING OF ALL THE HYPE! We have always loved Persian food but have struggled to find a restaurant that serves quality, authentic, traditional Persian food. They either put their own “twist” on it to appease to the English crowd or they cut corners and use cheap, low grade ingredients. That all changed last night. We went on our first date night since having our first baby. We had been recommended this place many times but were scared to once again be disappointed. The restaurant we were wanting to visit was very busy so we decided to take up the recommendation and eat out at Walnut. Thank God we did! Do not mistake this as one of those overhyped places that end up being underwhelming. THIS PLACE REALLY IS ALL THAT! It is the real deal. It is authentic, traditional Persian food. No cheap gimmicks or “Iranian food with a European twist”. The chefs here know their stuff. Everything we ordered was INCREDIBLY DELICIOUS. Not only was the food SCRUMPTIOUS, the staff were very friendly and attentive. The service was perfect. The interior was beautiful. Even the bathroom! Ha! It’s not easy to find a nicely decorated place that actually does great quality, great food at such a great price. I can’t recommend this place highly enough. After years of searching for a good Persian place, THIS is now definitely going to be our “Go-To”. I genuinely cannot wait until we dine here again. My husband was wanting to visit again tonight so I had to remind him that we cannot just leave our baby with our parents every night to go on dinner dates! If only! Please do not change anything about your restaurant! It is perfect!

The food is really authentic and tasty. Absolutely loved it. They also serve Kurdish stew which you won't find everywhere and it's well worth a try. The staff are super nice and welcoming. Service is wonderful and they make you feel at home. Portions are generous and the menu is extensive. The choice of fresh juices are quite good and the juices are freshly made. Meat was soft and tender and juicy. Although I ordered the special house Kabab I had an eye on other tables' orders and noticed all dishes were FANTASTIC! The only regret i have is that ive not been here sooner! From the moment we stepped in the service was very good, the waiters were attentive and friendly. The food was absolutely amazing, the meats were so juicy and succulent. The starters we had were all so good i definitely recommend the hummus and the chicken wings, the chicken wings were so clean and juicy and flavoursome. As for the mains the lambchops and the kobeda were the highlight for me so juicy and tasty. We had rice naan and chips. The rice was the only thing we didnt really enjoy as it was just plain rice needed more flavour. But other than that everything was soo good i will be back soon again.

Really good value and the staff are really friendly. It's on the "curry mile" so parking can be tricky but there are a few spots right outside if you're lucky enough to get them.

If you fancy grilled food that isn't Turkish, then this is the place to try. Located on Wilmslow Road, this Persian restaurant is ideal and the decor inside is of a good quality. The meat is very fresh and tender - the only thing I didn't particularly like was the marinade used on the chicken as it was tangy. I certainly won't be ordering the chicken again when I return to this restaurant.

We had some amazing time at Walnut few weeks ago. Food was lovely, interior is of a very good taste, quite unique. Lovely calm music, nice tea pots that kept hot for long by the clever tealight stand. Wouldn't be embarrassed to bring my mom there if I had a chance. The bathroom was also very clean and fully equipped. The only suggestion is that the waitresses need to pick up on their order writing skills- our first one wrote few things wrong so I had to send my one back to be changed, and waiting time is quite long. But the food was tasty and of good quality. Meats were not greasy which is a bonus. Hoping to visit again, as long as the blue sofas are available! :))) sorry could give you 4.5 stars but not possible :) Forgot to mention: they also decorate tables with fresh flowers which was a great touch. And prices of mains are very good for the portions you get.

OMG and I mean OMG. Can this place be any more tastier!!! My mouth was watering from the moment I entered in the restaurant. The 3 lady's who dealt with us from entrance to sitting and serving just outstanding. The Bob hair cut lady was so nice to seat us near the water fall cleaned the table again and she was smiling the whole time. Then the blondish lady who took our order so so nice, and the young helper who made sure we got humus quickly hahha. Thank you lady's. FOOD. Great atmosphere and good service. Food was just average, i think other restaurant on wilmslow road do better food. kobedas are not as good as rest of rusholme places. Rice here is bland, lamb chops were not good at all. Salad that comes with the food can be done so much better. Maybe its aimed at persians and has a loyal customer base but trust me there are other places on the same road that do the same food but much better.

Went here first time with group of friends. One of the friend recommended the place and he booked the table for 6 pm as it harder to get a table when busy. service is excellent and food is really good. The portion sizes are large. I ordered okra stew with diced lamb and saffron rice, which was excellent. And also at the end of the meal we ordered tranditional Persian tea which is really good and final touch for the excellent meal. highly recommended for Persian food. Make sure to book a table before visiting.

Even when the restaurant is busy- which it always is on weekends, the service is great and the staff are so friendly. Persian food is the best (well I am biased) so if you are going to eat it anywhere please please go to walnut!

Walnut is one of my favourite restaurant in Manchester. They offer a wide range of Persian grills and dishes. The restaurant atmosphere is nice and suits big groups. My personal favourite order is hummus & Kashk Badenjan with their freshly backed bread for starters and kobideh with rice for the main course. In addition, Lamb shank with barberry rice is so delicious. If you visit here, you must try the Safran ice cream for desserts.

I really like this restaurant, the food and environment is so nice. When you eat in, the food without a doubt is amazing. However, when you order take out, it’s like the quality suddenly goes down hill. It’s as if it’s a completely different restaurant. The meat is chewy, dry and tastes different. We all order take outs and know that food usually does get cold etc but when warmed up shouldn’t taste that different to eating in. But I’ve noticed on multiple occasions that the quality and taste is definitely not the same as eating in. They should consider reducing the take out price if the standards are not consistent with eating in, as it really isn’t worth it.

The owner of the restaurant took the time to chat with us about the history and the decor (which is fantastic). Our waitresses were charming, good humoured and committed to our experience being a positive one. The quality of the meat in particular was excellent, tender and flavourful. Pricing was excellent value for the amount of food served and also considering the restaurant is very well staffed. The setting is based just outside the city centre but easy to get to with an Uber. The area has a unique culture, with thriving local business and a welcoming atmosphere, which was refreshing to see. We felt like we were on holiday! We will definitely return and tell all our friends to visit when in Manchester.

Yesterday I was there with my partner and we didn't expect the portions to be so solid, we ordered a delicious, fresh garlic bread with cheese (starter for 4 people), a very refreshing salad (cucumber, red onion, tomato and grapefruit juice) and grilled salmon , one with fries and the other with naan bread. First of all as you walk in it has that mellow vibe darkened theme. Very homley and inviting by the looks. The food is just as good, they have a variety on their menu from starters to desserts and drinks. The food tastes really good there with their traditional Iranian dishes. Would highly recommend if you want something else instead of your local food dishes. Have to try out other foods and not just stick to one kind of food. After hearing so much about the place I finally went for a meal. The place used to be a shisha lounge then changed to a restaurant and I think its the best decision they made. As the food is so nice and freshly prepared. Its tasteful and the service is amazing. The staff is friendly and looks after you well. The price is average for the quality food they are service. Its a great pace to take family as they have family booths and normal table for couples. I will definitely go back. They accept card payments too and the parking can be difficult if you are not from the area as you will have to dive around the block to come up behind the place for parking if you want to walk the least.

Waiting times were good too, and we did not get the feeling that we were being rushed, as is often the case in Persian restaurants. Having it all served on beautiful metal trays (sorry for my ignorance but I don't know the name) and cups made for a very authentic experience. I went here for my birthday meal as per a recommendation from my brother. I had never been anywhere that had served proper Persian cuisine before this, but this place OMG!! Firstly the presentation of the food was amazing, and then when I tried it, God, it was so beautiful. The bayberry rice and the broad bean rice tasted absolutely heavenly. I had the abgoost which was the best iv ever had. And the kabobs are delicious, the food came accompanied with a variety of sauces and salad which was also very tasty and went brilliantly with the main. My wife and I dined out at 'Walnut' in the Rusholme District Centre for the first time, yesterday evening. Wonderful atmosphere, welcoming staff and they managed to get us a table by the window, despite, being packed out with customers. The food was both delicious, fresh and authentic. My late Iranian grandad would have happily dined out here! The Persian Herb Stew was out of this world and my wife was equally impressed by the Lamb Shank with Barberry Rice. The portions were so generous that we were too full for any desserts. This place is a gem in the heart of Rusholme. I almost don't want anybody else to know about it but I think the owners and staff deserve to be recognised for their achievement and I hope this review is a little contribution towards their success.

The “curry mile” is hardly short of fantastic, varied gastronomy but I was blown away by the flavours, impeccable cooking, ambiance and warmth at this modestly sized Persian restaurant. As a vegetarian I wasn’t expecting a big choice - and the server, although very friendly, obviously wasn’t used to orders from the vegetarian menu! - but the selection was broad enough and the quality (of the home made houmous and pitta, and huge okra and tomato stew) was very high.

Great place on wimslow road. If you like persian or grilled food or just want to try something different this is a good choice. At the opposite end of the curry mile, away from the hustle and bustle.
